With the approval of the Obama administration, an electric car company that received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee is assembling its first line of cars in Finland, saying it could not find a facility in the United States capable of doing the work.
Vice President Joseph Biden heralded the Energy Department’s $529 million loan to the start-up electric car company called Fisker as a bright new path to thousands of American manufacturing jobs. But two years after the loan was announced, the job of assembling the flashy electric Fisker Karma sports car has been outsourced to Finland.
“There was no contract manufacturer in the U.S. that could actually produce our vehicle,” the car company’s founder and namesake told ABC News. “They don’t exist here.”
Henrik Fisker said the U.S. money so far has been spent on engineering and design work that stayed in the U.S., not on the 500 manufacturing jobs that went to a rural Finnish firm, Valmet Automotive.
“We’re not in the business of failing; we’re in the business of winning. So we make the right decision for the business,” Fisker said. “That’s why we went to Finland.”

Here is the real-world translation to that last line in that story; we did not want to have to deal with the labor unions in this United States, so we moved our manufacturing overseas.
Take note my Democratic Party friends who happen to read this blog, all two of you. This is what happens to the Democrats and their union counterparts, when they elect internationalist Democrats, who really do not give a care about what happens to American workers. Internationalist Democrats and their Republican counterparts, the globalists — like Richard Nixon, who do not care about American workers, they are corporatists, who support crony capitalism.
This right here is a perfect example of why the relations between the Democratic Party and the labor unions are frosty at best. That is because the Democratic Party for the last few instances that they have won elections, have been putting internationalist Democrats into the White House. This type of a Democrat talks a nice game, and puts out platitudes to the American autoworkers and their representatives in the unions; but when the “Rubber hits the road” so to speak, things change. They begin showing their true colors and start doing things to kick dirt in the face of the American worker.
I do not write this as a Conservative mocking the left, goodness no. I write this as someone who has a father, who is a retired General Motors worker, who is a member of the UAW. If anyone would know how the Democratic Party has treated the American autoworker in the last 30 years, it would be me. There was a time in this Country, when the Democratic Party used to respect the American autoworker and would literally step in front a train to defend them. Sadly, that time has passed, as the unions have lost their influence amongst the Democratic Party.
The loss of that influence in the Democratic Party is partially due to the actions of the internationalist Democrats, like Bill Clinton, who signed into law NAFTA and TAFTA. Some of that loss of influence is also due to the declining membership roles within the UAW and other said unions. Either way, it is sad transition in America, when our politicians in Washington D.C. put interests abroad before interests here at home.
Some of my readers, all three of you, might be shocked to see that I do not take a more mocking tone on stories like this and here is why I do not; Pat Buchanan said it best once, on one issue that I actually agree with him on — the American worker. Pat once said, “As goes Detroit, goes the Nation,” and you know what? Pat Buchanan is right about that, the United States of America used to be a manufacturing marvel. We produced everything ourselves, and other Countries used to come here to see how we did it all. Sadly, those times have come and gone, due to many reasons, a list of which is longer than the length of this blog entry will permit.
What is solution you ask, I know what it is; but most of the people who will come here to read, will not agree with it. However, I will give the solution. Firstly, the solution is NOT to bust up the unions, as they have as much right to proper representation, as the company owners have a right to make a profit. The solution to the problem is to get rid of these idiotic so-called “Free Trade” agreements. Secondly, the solution is to impose strict tariffs on EVERYTHING and I do mean everything that is manufactured overseas and imported into our Country.
These actions would do a couple of things; firstly it would protect the American workers from the globalists who want to undercut the American worker to make a quick dollar on the backs of cheap sweatshop labor in foreign countries like China. Secondly, it would solve our Nation’s revenue problem by creating a reliable source of income; one of which we did have in this Country for a very long time, before the globalists ripped it out, in favor of trade agreements.
Further, the solution is in whom we elect; Republicans and Democrats alike need to elect those who put America’s interests first, and not the interests who those abroad. To be fair, Republicans have done this too in this past and we as Americans need to watch what these new crop of Republicans really represent; do they represent the interests of the crony capitalists or do they have the American people’s interests in mind? Supposedly, the Tea Party movement brought some of this “America First” type of populism to the Conservative movement, but as of late, it seems that the Tea Party was nothing more than a passing fad. I just hope the people, who went to these protests, use the principles that were promoted at the Tea Party rallies, at the ballot box come November 2012.

The daughter of a Mormon bishop who has abandoned her family’s faith claims in a new book the election of Mitt Romney to the presidency would put the U.S. in danger due to what she calls the Republican’s “outrageous,” “horrific” and “mind-controlling” beliefs.
“While he attempts to portray Mormonism as just another Christian religion, Mitt Romney counts on his skills to shift our attention away from what he truly believes,” says Tricia Erickson, author of “Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters? The Mormon Church Versus the Office of the Presidency of the United States of America.”
“If the American people knew what he truly believed, they would surely not place him in the highest office in the land.”
Yet others, such as professor Richard Bushman, a Mormon and previous missionary himself who has taught at Harvard, Columbia and Brown Universities, are defending the faith. He calls Erickson “disillusioned” and someone who “instead of walking away felt an obligation to discredit [her] former faith.”
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the official name for Mormonism, has rocketed into the national consciousness this month since Rev. Robert Jeffress, a Rick Perry supporter who pastors the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, said Romney was “not a Christian” and that Mormonism is a “cult.”
“Part of a pastor’s job is to warn his people and others about false religions,” Jeffress said Sunday, standing by his controversial remarks. “Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Mormonism are all false religions.”
In her book, Erickson paints an unflattering picture of the Mormon faith, which counts not only the former Massachusetts governor as a member, but also fellow GOP presidential contender Jon Huntsman, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., radio talk-show host Glenn Beck, singer Gladys Knight, actresses Amy Adams and Katherine Heigl, “Napoleon Dynamite” actor Jon Heder, entertainers Donny and Marie Osmond, and sports stars including the NFL’s Steve Young, Danny White and Merlin Olsen.
Erickson goes on to expose the insane beliefs of the Mormons and tell about her horrifying experience in that cult:

“Mormonism teaches we pre-existed on God the Father’s planet as spirit children before we were planted in our mother’s wombs,” Erickson told WND. “And the reason why we’re here according to Mormonism, is so that we can work out our own progression to godhood and our own planets themselves.”
The author, who herself was married in a Mormon temple at age 19 but now considers herself a non-denominational Christian, says there’s a secret agenda Mormon officials don’t like to talk about publicly.
“A complete takeover of the government,” she said. “They have more people in the CIA, the FBI. They have an employment office for Mormons in D.C. to be able to infiltrate them into the government.”
“They’ve been trying since the beginning to get someone in the presidency, because they believe they have to establish their authority so when Jesus comes to Earth, the Mormon Church will take control of the government and the Mormons will be the government of God on Earth,” she continued.
Erickson says her main concern is that the leader of the free world have the ability to discern fact from fiction.
“It may be crucial to our survival,” she said. “If his beliefs are distorted, which they unequivocally are, why would it not be be critical to our existence to protect our country from being placed in the hands of such a person?”
When asked for specific rituals she considers bizarre, Erickson claims Romney and other Mormons take part in clandestine marriage ceremonies involving “outrageous” customs. Explaining her own Mormon wedding, she says she was forced to completely disrobe against her will.
“It was horrific,” she told WND. “There I was standing naked. They brought this bowl of water, and started washing my body down and whispering prayers over my body. They stopped over the right and left breast, the navel and knees and prayed specific prayers.”
To help ensure the general public did not learn details of the rituals, she says believers took a symbolic knife to feign their own murder if members spilled the beans of what really goes on behind closed doors.
“They actually had us slashing our guts open and our guts falling to the ground if we told people of the secret dogma of the ceremonies,” Erickson said.
“Mitt is not a casual Mormon,” she told online interviewer Thom Hartmann, noting Romney has reached the upper echelons of the faith. “There is no way that he will be able to not listen to the [Mormon] prophet. His eternal salvation depends on it. He has to put the church first over country.”

As much as I would like to say that this is the first time that I have heard this; it is not, this young lady is not the only person to have told stories like this about the Mormon Cult. Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen has confirmed the deaths of American-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan, the young American propagandist killed alongside him in a U.S. drone strike late last month.
Al-Qaeda has also criticized the Obama administration for killing U.S. citizens, saying doing so “contradicts” American law.
“Where are what they keep talking about regarding freedom, justice, human rights and respect of freedoms?!” the statement says, according to a translation by SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist Web sites.
The Obama administration has spoken in broad terms about its authority to use military and paramilitary force against al-Qaeda and associated forces, and al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula would find itself hard-pressed to claim the moral high ground in the debate over the killing of Awlaki and Khan.

My friends, this goes well beyond some Yiddish word for arrogance, gall, or nerve. This backward thinking is shared by the liberal left in this Country. In case anyone that happens to read this blog has forgotten, Al-Qaeda killed 2,977 of our citizens and injured over 6,000 of our citizens. This was an act of war and should have been treated more so, than it was by President Bush. What happened that day was on par with Pearl Harbor and should have resulted in the internment of all Arab citizens in this Country. What that day should have resulted in, was the suspending of the United States Constitution and an change to the first amendment by executive order; outlawing Islam in America forever, as a political philosophy and not a valid religion and the closing of all Mosques in this Country. What happened on that day; should have resulted in the deporting off all Muslims out of the United States forever and Arabs be given a choice, either embrace an American religion or leave. However, because of the weakness of Bush or a desire to please all, President George W. Bush chose the easiest path possible.
My friends, 9/11 is a living testament to the fact that Multiculturalism does not, in fact work. It is a lesson that the Far-Right people’s party in Switzerland is learning now, before it is too late. America did not learn that lesson on 9/11; we simply went after just one group, instead of the entire flock of them. This was the great mistake of America and is one that America will have live with for the rest of its existence. If you think, that Muslims will not attack America again, you a very highly mistaken. September 11, 2001 was the opening salvo in a war that will continue until the day that America realizes that Islam and its followers are not friends of America and will eventually destroy us from within, if we allow it.

Family spokesman Harlan Boll said Hope died Monday of natural causes at home in Los Angeles.
He did not elaborate.

“The death of Dolores Hope leaves a huge void in Southern California.”
I am a self-confessed history buff and an admirer of the 1940’s. Bob Hope and his lovely wife were of that era; when Hollywood actually had some semblance of morals, class and integrity. Unlike today, where it has become a cesspool of filth, loose morals and hedonism. I mean, seriously….. Snooki? 50 years ago, she would not have gotten a second look in Hollywood and now, she is”The Thing” in Hollywood. 50 years ago, Snooki would be told to take her Latino whore looking self home and learn to dress and act like a respectable young Lady; and then come back and look for a job.
May she rest in peace and enjoy her Heavenly reward; because at 102 years old, she has more than earned it.

The proper task of the “public intellectual” might be conceived as the responsibility to introduce complexity into the argument: the reminder that things are very infrequently as simple as they can be made to seem. To me, this remains the main point about al-Qaida and its surrogates. I do not believe, by stipulating it as the main point, that I try to oversimplify matters. I feel no need to show off or to think of something novel to say. Moreover, many of the attempts to introduce “complexity” into the picture strike me as half-baked obfuscations or distractions. These range from the irredeemably paranoid and contemptible efforts[MN1] to pin responsibility for the attacks onto the Bush administration or the Jews, to the sometimes wearisome but not necessarily untrue insistence that Islamic peoples have suffered oppression. (Even when formally true, the latter must simply not be used as nonsequitur special pleading for the use of random violence by self-appointed Muslims.)
Underlying these and other attempts to change the subject there was, and still is, a perverse desire to say that the 9/11 atrocities were in some way deserved, or made historically more explicable, by the many crimes of past American foreign policy. Either that, or—to recall the contemporary comments of the “Reverends” Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson—a punishment from heaven for American sinfulness. (The two ways of thinking, one of them ostensibly “left” and the other “right,” are in fact more or less identical.) That this was an assault upon our society, whatever its ostensible capitalist and militarist “targets,” was again thought too obvious a point for a clever person to make. It became increasingly obvious, though, with every successive nihilistic attack on London, Madrid, Istanbul, Baghdad, and Bali. There was always some “intellectual,” however, to argue in each case that the policy of Tony Blair, or George Bush, or the Spanish government, was the “root cause” of the broad-daylight slaughter of civilians. Responsibility, somehow, never lay squarely with the perpetrators.

There has been controversy over Ron Paul’s ties to racism for some time now. Many people have pointed to Ron Paul’s Newsletters as proof of his racism. Paul has previously admitted to writing the newsletters and defended the statements in 1996, then blamed them on an unnamed ghostwriter in 2001 and then denied any knowledge of them in 2008. He has given no explanation, for how the racism entered his newsletter. If we are to take Paul at his word, he is guilty of at least promoting racism on a large scale. Paul earned almost a million dollars a year from the racist, conspiracy theorist newsletters. Here are some excerpts that I’ve found.
In this story Ron Paul writes about “needlin” and blames packs of young black girls for spreading AIDS to white women. I could find no evidence of this “epidemic” and the article seems to have no point other than to make white people scared of Black people.
In this piece he criticizes Martin Luther King as a pro-communist philanderer and says the MLK holiday is “Hate Whitey Day.” This is in great contrast to 2008 when he told Wolf Blitzer that Martin Luther King was one of his heroes. When activists suggested naming a city after Martin Luther King Paul suggested other names such as “Welfaria,” “Zooville,” “Rapetown,” “Dirtburg,” and “Lazyopolis” He would continue:
In another piece he blamed Black people for the riots that happened in Chicago in 1992 after the Bulls won the NBA Championship
Paul here is using false information to attack African Americans. The Washington Post reported that 1000 people were arrested but did not indicate their race. The riot, like most sports riots was multi-racial, including Blacks, white and Latinos, yet Paul used the incident to demonize African Americans. The Washington Post also reported that two officers suffered minor gunshot wounds and that 95 were injured in total, but the way Paul phrased it, it would seem most of the 95 officers injured were shot.
In this article Paul uses the “carjacking” epidemic to put fear into white people. He advises them to carry guns and shoot “carjackers” illegally and then dispose of their weapons. He also refers Black people as “animals” and directly refers to his home town of Lake Jackson, Texas.
The newsletters also contained the quotes:

Here are some of the newsletters I could find. They also contain a good deal of homophobic and Black Helicopter, New World Order conspiracy theories and warnings of upcoming in “race wars.”

No, I did not watch the debate; mainly because I was in the bed at 9:00opm. I have been doing that as of late; in bed by 9 
and will sleep soundly till about midnight or so, then get up, take a leak and back to bed till 4 in the morning. It is indeed an old man’s schedule and I am pushing 40 now, so I might as well play the part. 
In fact, it is 4:29a.m. now as I file this blog posting. I will set this one to go live at 8:00a.m.
From what I can understand and have been able to read; the debate was quite lively. HotAir has good coverage, as does The Other McCain, with a blow by blow of the Debate itself. Oh yeah, Romney the Mormon Moron ™ screamed at some liberal heckler — that must make him a real Republican now! 🙄
If it seems that I am being overly sarcastic and dismissive of the entire debate and straw poll, it is because that I am dismissive and sarcastic regarding the entire affair. This is because these primary polls and debates are nothing more than partisan fashion shows, to see who is more “Republican-y.” I am an independent “right of center,” as a Blogger and as a person. I find this entire partisan fashion show to be most sickening.
The truth is my friends that half of those people were lying and the other half were reciting talking points, given to them by some idiot, who never served a damned day in office ever. In other words, those idiots were telling those people and in the people watching that debate, exactly what they wanted to hear. I would say the same thing about a Democratic Party Debate too. I mean, just look at Obama and all the promises he broke while campaigning.
Further, let me say this; Conservatives and Republicans alike made a mistake as they are about to make again, I think. In 1980, a former Democratic Party politician came out of California, with Midwestern roots. This man was able to woo all factions of the Republican Party and of the Conservative movement into one big tent. He made overtures and nuanced promises to the Conservative Christian World, the libertarian section and defense hawks. He ended up fulfilling the defense promises and did attempt to rein in spending as well. However, this same man, who made huge overtures to the Conservative Christian World, proceeded to make it to the White House, said, “Thanks for your support, now go away,” and proceeded to fulfill his own personal political agenda. That man was President Ronald Reagan. We still have abortion, we still do not have Prayer in schools, and the morality in this Country is worse now, than it was when Ronald Reagan was President.
One would think that the Conservative movement, especially the Conservative Christians would have learned by now that the Republican Party is not a party to be trusted. Especially seeing that we are better informed and better educated people, due to the rise of the internet and online information. It is as the old saying goes, “Those who do not learn from their mistakes —- are doomed to repeat them.”
I just do truly hope and pray; that the Republican Party picks a true Conservative and no some imperialist. God knows, we have had eight good years of big spending and imperialism in this Country, which is why we are, where we are at now in this Country. I hope that the Republican Party has learned its lesson, that wars cost money; and when a nation is barrowing more than its own GDP, something is terribly wrong. ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – A 21-year-old Muslim woman, claiming that she was the victim of a hate crime as she drove along a street in Ann Arbor over the weekend.
WWJ’s Mike Campbell reports that Ann Arbor police will only say that they are looking into a case of an alleged hate crime. And, the FBI isn’t commenting on a report from the Council on American Islamic Relations that it has asked them to investigate this case.
Reportedly, a woman was driving in Ann Arbor when she saw a black Dodge Ram pickup pull up next to her and the driver started racially taunting her, saying that her people didn’t belong here, that she was a terrorist and her people need to be killed. She said she dialed 911 and when she looked back in her mirror, the guy was actually pointing a gun at her. That’s when she says she actually started to get scared. Otherwise, she said it happens all the time because she often is seen wearing her head scarf out in public.
Nobody was hurt in this incident. Police say they are looking into it; they ran the license plate on the car that she gave them and it doesn’t match that pickup.

US debt shot up $238 billion to reach 100 percent of gross domestic project after the government’s debt ceiling was lifted, Treasury figures showed Wednesday.
Treasury borrowing jumped Tuesday, the data showed, immediately after President Barack Obama signed into law an increase in the debt ceiling as the country’s spending commitments reached a breaking point and it threatened to default on its debt.
The new borrowing took total public debt to $14.58 trillion, over end-2010 GDP of $14.53 trillion, and putting it in a league with highly indebted countries like Italy and Belgium.
Public debt subject to the official debt limit — a slightly tighter definition — was $14.53 trillion as of the end of Tuesday, rising from the previous official cap of $14.29 trillion a day earlier.
Treasury had used extraordinary measures to hold under the $14.29 trillion cap since reaching it on May 16, while politicians battled over it and over addressing the country’s bloating deficit.
The official limit was hiked $400 billion on Tuesday and will be increased in stages over the next 18 months.

Many on the right wing Blogosphere will be quick to put this entire situation on President Obama. I cannot and will not do that; the truth is folks, we did have and still do have two wars that we are fighting; and those cost money too. We also did have the bailout of the banks and tarp bailouts, the trap loans to the big three, being a fraction of the total cost.
Truth is my friends; we are here because of foolishness of our elected leaders — Republican and Democratic Party. Both sides have steered this Nation over a cliff. President Obama tried and ultimately failed to bring an economic revival to the Country. Now we have to pay the proverbial piper. It is going to be a painful process; the tap is turned off and we are now going to have embrace austerity.
It is a horrible thing to endure, but it is something that we are going to have to endure — if we are going to continue as a Country, as we know it now.

An angry mother stood before a judge Friday afternoon in a barebones courtroom at the Richland County jail, describing the fractured skull, busted nose and broken eye socket her son received during an early Monday morning beating in Five Points.
Vicki Strange’s voice never quivered as she described racing to the hospital in the wee hours to get to her 18-year-old son, Carter Strange. She recalled standing in the emergency room and seeing a man on a gurney being wheeled down the hall, thinking, “That poor man.”
As nurses wheeled the man closer, Vicki Strange thought his hair looked familiar. Then she noticed the hands.
Vicki Strange speaks to a judge at a June 24 bond hearing for Tyheem Henrey. Henrey, 19, was charged for his alleged role in the beating of Strange’s 18-year-old son, Carter Strange, who was running home through Five Points to make curfew on Monday. The hearing was held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

“It was his hair and his hands, but the rest of him did not look like my son,” she said.
Strange told her story before City Judge Dana Turner during a bond hearing at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center for one of eight people charged in connection with the brutal attack.
“Carter didn’t have a chance to fight against those eight,” Vicki Strange said. “Now, I get to fight for him.”
Tyheem Jaqui Henrey, 19, of Old Manor Road in the St. Andrews area was detained on a $750,000 bond on charges of second-degree assault and battery by a mob, robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime.
A 14-year-old, 15-year-old and 16-year-old also have been charged with the same crimes as Henrey. A 13-year-old and three 16-year-olds have been charged with criminal conspiracy, Columbia police said. Their names have not been released because of their ages.

Now, some thoughts of my very own — about this case and those who committed this crime:
Whenever I encounter a case like this, where a group of blacks target a white person and do them physical harm, I have a terrible reaction. Images flash through my mind; my cousin being shot and killed in Detroit by two black police officers. I have an impulse reaction, my southern roots come to the surface; I want more than justice served on those who did the crime to this person; I want blood, their blood to spill for having the gall to attack a fellow white man. However then, common sense kicks in and I forced to realize that we do have a justice system in this Country and using that is a bit more sensible than a lynch mob is. That is because I have to stop and remember, we are a Constitutional Republic and in a Constitutional Republic mob rules are not the style or system of Government — But Jury trials and innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt is.
The second thing I truly begin to wonder is, “where are the parents of these black kids?” This ought to be a case study or a textbook example in the failures of parenting a child. The perfect example of why a strong Christian Father and Mother, and why Godly administered discipline is paramount to a controlled home and children who live in submission to parents and to God. It has been said that if a parent does not discipline a child; then society will —- and in this case, it was proven correctly.
Lastly, this is a textbook case to the fact that Multiculturalism, Black Entitlement, and Black Empowerment should be considered a total abject failure. This beating was a direct result of the progressive “pot stirring” that has taken place by the Marxist or progressive left in this Country for years. These black youths beat this white kid, because they figured that because they were black, they would most likely get away with it or get off with a light sentence. As kids and growing up; these young men were most likely told that they were entitled to anything and everything that a White Man was and more, because they were black. This fosters a mindset of “I can do whatever I please, because I am black” and this is a result of that reckless and very ignorant mindset.
I have to hand it to the mother and father of this young white man. If that were my kid — let us just say I would not be that calm about the situation; and there would be a great deal of black people in that town, who would be in fear for their lives.

In a new video which recently surfaced online, the Taliban appears to brutally and systematically execute 16 unarmed Pakistani policemen in what the terror group called a revenge killing.
The video of the massacre, which reportedly took place in early June, was posted online last week and confirmed by the Pakistani army today. It shows the policemen — who are not in uniform — standing in a line before a Taliban member who appears to be lecturing them. The man, who appears to act as the militants’ commander, accuses the policemen of executing six children in a previous operation and claims their imminent deaths are revenge, according to a summary posted with the video.
Several Taliban members then open fire on the group until all the policemen have fallen. A wailing cry is heard in the background after the initial volley. After reloading, a single fighter walks over each body and shoots them once more in the head.
But yet, President Barack Obama wants to try and negotiate with these monsters.
My friends, you do not negotiate with criminals and cold blooded killers; these people hate Liberty and Freedom. They hate Israel and Jews; kind of like the liberal left and some of the Paleo-Conservative and libertarian right. They are not rational, sane, human beings — they are cold blooded killers. We did not negotiate with Charles Manson and his cult — so why the hell would we negotiate with people like this?

I was to have been on QVC today to introduce my book, “Prime Time,” about aging and the life cycle. The network said they got a lot of calls yesterday criticizing me for my opposition to the Vietnam War and threatening to boycott the show if I was allowed to appear. I am, to say the least, deeply disappointed that QVC caved to this kind of insane pressure by some well funded and organized political extremist groups. And that they did it without talking to me first. I have never shied away from talking about this as I have nothing to hide. I could have pointed out that threats of boycotts are nothing new for me and have never prevented me from having best selling books and exercise DVDs, films, and a Broadway play. Most people don’t buy into the far right lies. Many people have reached out to express how excited they were about my going onto QVC and hearing about my book.
Bottom line, this has gone on far too long, this spreading of lies about me! None of it is true. NONE OF IT! I love my country. I have never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us. I do not understand what the far right stands to gain by continuing with these myths. In this case, they denied a lot of people the chance to hear about a book that can help make life better, easier and more fulfilling. I am deeply grateful for all of the support I have been getting since this happened, including from my Vietnam Veterans friends.

Since Harry Chapin left us.

I remember hearing about on the CBS Morning News the following day. What I distinctly remember about that report was that instead of the concert being cancelled, fans brought their guitars and went on stage to play Chapin’s songs. That has always stayed with me. In 2001, I comemorated what happened the day Chapin died with a poem called “A Thousand Guitars & A Cello” which would later appear in my first poetry chapbook, Oysters & The Newborn Child:

When Chapin wasn’t performing in concert or working on his latest album, he could be seen on Capitol Hill lobbying Senators and Congressmen about the issue of world hunger. Although Chapin leaned liberal (before he became famous he worked on one of Allard Lowenstein ‘s congressional campaigns in New York), he would talk to anybody about addressing world hunger – Democrat or Republican. Well, Chapin made an indelible impression. Then Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole eulogized him on the floor of the Senate. Dole was one of nearly forty Senators and Congressmen paid tribute to Chapin that day. When he was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in December 1987 both Ted Kennedy and Orrin Hatch were on hand to sing Chapin’s praises. Chapin didn’t hate the people who didn’t share his politics. On the contrary, he wanted to persuade conservatives just as much as he wanted to persuade liberals.
Now a few thoughts of my own about Harry Chapin:
Harry Chapin was one who, unlike many of the entertainment industry, actually practiced what he preached. Unlike many of the Hollywood and entertainment Liberal crowd in California, Chapin saw wrong and tried to fix it. Was he a liberal? Absolutely, however back in Chapin’s day, being a liberal meant an entirely different thing, than it does today. I truly believe if he saw what the Democratic Party was about today; at the very least, he would be a libertarian.
Chapin was a part of the “thinking” artists and liberals of his era. He fought for what he believed in, did what he loved and helped one hell of a great deal of people doing it. He; like Gordon Lightfood, like Jim Croce and many more like them — inspired many in that era to not accept what the previous generation told them, but to think for themselves.
America is a much shallow place without him.
Rest in peace Harry — God knows, you earned in the short time you were here.

You see, I used to be a Democrat; I used to vote for your party, ever since I was 18 years old. I seem to remember that there were some very qualified people to be President and yet, your party threw those people over, for someone that you could actually rally someone around — a black person. It would be the ultimate end to the “Jim Crow” era, of which your party championed. Do you Remember, Douglas, of the Lincoln/Douglas debates? Well, he was a Democrat. Therefore, you all thought Barack Hussein Obama would be the ultimate victory. So much for that idea, eh?
You chose style over substance, you chose Identity Politics over common sense. You chose personality over proof of leadership; you chose an empty suit, who is more interested in an agenda over the future of your own damned party. Such a tragic thing, too bad, so sad — now deal with your self-created garbage and shut the hell up and take what is coming to you, you silly idiotic morons. You cast your own hopes, dreams, and aspirations on an inexperienced fool, who had about as much right to be President, as me. Then your christened “Golden Boy” proceeded to defecate on you and the rest of your party. My question to you is this; how does it feel to be played?
I seem to remember that there was a person — a woman, no less — who was a bit more of a moderate Democrat, who offered you the chance for America to succeed again. Why do you think that the Republican Party was determined to destroy her? Because they knew that if they tried to run against her, they would lose and lose badly. However, out of nowhere, here comes Barry, shooting past her, and the rest of the Democratic Party primary candidates, using a slogan he stole from another candidate and all of a sudden he was the new progressive Messiah. Suddenly, the other white woman was “Old School,” “Old hat,” and part of the old way. You people wanted to new, fresh and clean – non-offensive to your guilt laden white base.
Now, you are sitting around; looking and feeling like chumps, because you, as they say — were played. Even your media, yes YOUR media, the enlightened media, of whom is ninety percent and your blogosphere, of whom I used to respect, because of how you held George W. Bush’s feet to the fire for six years — went into the tank for this chump and now look like a group of special education students with Tourette syndrome. Honestly, pointing at OUR side, the Republican side, the Conservative side, or any side that disagrees with you — is stupid. You really should point the finger at your own damned selves. You have no one, nada, zero, nobody to blame — but yourselves.

First lady Betty Ford has passed on at 93.
Betty Ford was, to many, a symbol, of strength, of courage, of overcoming big obstacles and of; yes, Hope.
At 93, she lived a life that some only could dream of living. She was, in fact, thrust into the First Lady’s office, when Nixon resigned and our Nation was in turmoil for his so-called misdeeds.
