Here is something you don’t get to see all the time. WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg and Drupal founder Dries Buytaert shared the same stage at an event called Schipulcon. While catering to the web marketing crowd, the event also has a short but concise mission statement:
To grow community champions that make the world a better place through extraordinary thinking, smart technology and cross-industry creativity.
Schipulcon took place in Houston, Texas which is the hometown of Matt Mullenweg. While some expected the two founders to duke it out, according to some in the audience, it looked more like a bromance.
Indeedy — Ain’t they cute together? 😉

Hawkings is whining about Blog traffic again. (No direct link for him, he is an asshole….I don’t like the way he treated David Frum and Debbie Schlussel)
This guy, who by the way, is friends with people who like to stalk and harass Jews — now seems to think that he is the newly minted big guru of the Right-Wing Blogosphere. Truthfully, the other thing big about him, is his belly and the space between his fucking ears.
Further more, as for what he wrote; it’s pretty damned hard to get blog traffic, when you have mentally deranged stalkers who call you an Anti-Semite and a racist; when none of itis honestly true. They they start intimidating other bloggers to remove you from their blog rolls like the little fucking soft-fascists that they fucking are! All because you dared to criticize one of the princesses of, what I like to call, the “veal pen right” — or you might have happened to mention that a particular ethnic group was behind a certain big stink that was being raised in the media. Yeah, that will get you labeled a hater! Further more, it is hard to even run a blog; when you make a mistake, that you are most regretful of, and the mentally insane people will not accept an apology, or even accept the fact THEY might have caused the mistake! 😡

long as it fits their little fucking partisan agenda or something like that; but when people, like me — who are the real free thinkers –— who like to point the hypocrisy of some of the “Veal Pen” right, or the Neo-Conservative right, as they were called during the Bush era. They jump to the defensive, and like to employ the tactics of the Marxist Saul Alinsky left.
Either way, the way I see it; if you are blogging to get rich. Get the hell out of it, because you will never do it. Especially in politics. The field is just too saturated. Only people that get rich are the well-connected bloggers or the one’s who are famous already and decide to start blogging.You think I sit here and do this stupid stuff because I am trying to get rich? Please. I do this, mainly because I really do not have much else to do; and because I happen to love my Country. I also happen to believe that Barack Obama, and the Marxist left (Kinda like the Marxist — I mean —Veal Pan Right….) are wrong about every damned thing that they have been doing since day one of this Administration.
Now, have I made money at it? Very little. Nobody clicks ads like they used to. I am not supposed to even mention or ask anyone to click my Adsense stuff; which is at the top and in my left sidebar. I used to run BlogAds here; but their blogger relations guy decided to be an asshole and I removed their ads from my blog. No matter, they did not make me any kind of money to be proud of anyhow. I do keep a PayPal donation tab up there; recently some dude, who happened to like something I wrote tossed like $5.00 in the jar. I was shocked, it was the first donation I had gotten this year. I got a few last year, and in 2008 during the election. But recently, outside of the recent donation — the TipJar has been bare. I did get two people, that bought some gold from the gold company that I am an affiliate through. I made $157.59 on those purchases. Now, if I got like 10 of those a day?!?! I never have to worry about anything at all, ever. But, nobody is buying or donating anything right now, as it is a tight economy. It is not just me; it is everyone.
As for Hawking’s idea of getting big or getting hooked up with other people. I got two words: Screw Him. I will never, ever sell out to a Corporate Entity, ever. I will explain why; Here at political byline, Rupert Murdoch does not control me, Salem Media does not control me — see where I am going with this? Corporate funding or associations mean control of the message. It happens with the left — and the right. Truly independent media and blogging; whether of a liberal or Conservative slant is getting more and more rare by the day. I am not for, nor have I ever been for a consolation or a collectivist effort in blogging, which sounds so….progressive. Maybe Hawkings is showing his true colors — Fancy that.
So, there, my response to that idiot lard ass’s posting and by the way Hawkings; try some fucking Jenny Craig!
I have been really giving this mobile business a serious thought. I tried another mobile theme and it looked great. But my “related posts” plug in did not like it. So, I am back go the old one.
Only thing lacking from this plug in and many others is the ability to add links to a post, without going through the hassle of manually coding a URL. What a pain in the ass!
Oh well, it’s better than nothing. Stupid people, don’t they know that bloggers link?

Just out here on the front porch, testing the WordPress for iPod app. It’s not a laptop, but hey, I can do the blog from out here! I have to love the autocorrect feature. But those results can be funny too.
I do not see how to put links into posts yet. Reading up on that here shortly.

Update: Meh, Nice little application. But, there is no rich text editor at all. Who wants to sit there and manual type out code for a link to a URL? Not to mention, copying and pasting a link on an iPod is a pain in the rear. So, yeah, maybe, if I was a photo blogger, that would be nice. But, if you’re a serious text blogger like me, that app is useless. Also, I have many categories on my blog, it does not alphabetize them and it does not give you a list of tags, not even most used. Nice app, but useless for my needs.
I guess the White House website is running Drupal (ugh!) and Chris Wilson over at Slate does not think that it is such a swell idea.

Drupal knows best. It’s not that Drupal thinks you’re evil. It just thinks you’re ignorant. In a basic setup, the software is suspicious of everything you try to do. Should you, say, go completely rogue and try to add some Javascript in the body of a page—a 14-year-old technology that controls interactive components like buttons—the platform will have none of it. The message: “That’s dangerous stuff, and you probably don’t know what you’re doing.” Better to outlaw something altogether, Drupal figures, than simply ask you if you really want to use it. Drupal hates change. Want to modernize Drupal by upgrading to a newer version? Ask theseguys how that worked out for them. If Drupal were a piece of legislation, it would be the farm bill: desperately in need of an overhaul but unlikely ever to get one because entrenched interests keep the forces of reform at bay.
Drupal is disorganized. Instead of displaying your pages in folders that you can browse, like you do on your personal computer, Drupal provides a nightmarish content list. To find what you’re looking for, you have to search for it. And unlike most content management systems, Drupal doesn’t have a convenient way to prevent two people from accidentally editing the same page at the same time. This is exactly the kind of rudderless confusion that small-government types have always said defines the federal government.
Drupal is righteous. The open-source movement has done wonderful things for the Web. But at its core, it remains a religion. If you went to DrupalCon in Paris last month, then you would have almost certainly come across proselytizers of one the movement’s fundamental tenets: Drupal doesn’t break Web sites. People with Drupal break Web sites. Most problems with Drupal stem from people who “don’t get it” or aren’t using it correctly. This is probably true, but it’s not much consolation when you spend 45 minutes trying to upload a photo. Drupal’s defenders are eerily reminiscent of those movement Democrats who were constantly knocking at your front door in the summer of 2008. Granted, they did get Obama elected, but it’s a miracle they didn’t cost him the election in the process.
Allow me to share with you all my little experience. Back before I wrote here on Political Byline. I used to be a “Left of Center” blogger. One day I got this wild hair up my butt about running a news site on Drupal; with my WordPress Blog in a sub-directory. How did it work out? To be blunt:

The pesky Russian hackers that had been sniffing around my blog, found their opening and they got it. To be very blunt; they farking hacked my crap to hell and back. A years worth of blogging, GONE in an instant. Nothing like a SQL Database injection hack to bring things in to perspective. I just about cried; and it was two days before Christmas no less.
Anyhow, after that; I said, no more Drupal and WordPress.
In fairness to the Drupal people, I did have some lousy hosting and I am not referring to the guy that was giving to me for free; it was the fault of the company that this guy buying from. (Hosting Scene) In techie terms; their MODSECURITY was much out of date. I know, OUCH! What I said, when it happened. I was not a happy camper. 😡
I am much pleased to report that I am, “Over the Moon” as they say with my current hosting provider. Which is EWF Media; who gets his reselling hosting from a neat company named Site 5. Site 5 basically does co-location with The Planet hosting; which is about the best darned hosting company on, well, The Planet! I highly recommend them, they are the best. If you are looking for excellent reseller hosting, go with EWF Media, he is so affordable. If you are looking to get a reseller account, go with Site 5, they are the best. (Now, watch my server go down after talking these guys up… HA!)
Anyhow, if the White House sees this, go with WordPress, you will be glad you did. It is truly, the bomb diggity.

Due to the stupid behavior of Van Jones and his subsequent resignation. The liberal MSM is now gearing up for a return attack against Glenn Beck; and they are employing the services of the Liberal Blogosphere to do so.
To his much deserved Credit, Ed Morrissey predicted that this would happen:
What exactly does that mean? In the next Republican administration, we can expect a great deal of scrutiny for Presidential advisers. For one thing, it means that no one who ever expressed public support for Birthers to get the benefit of the doubt. The two conspiracy theories are different, but they both are entirely speculative and imagine dark conspiracies at the highest orbits of power, and neither have any actual direct evidence for support. Anyone who signed a Birther petition can expect to get bypassed for political appointments in a Republican White House with a halfway-decent vetting team, strictly on the basis of politics, in the wake of Jones’ resignation.
The media and the leftward parts of the New Media will get to work in the meantime on advisers and staffers of Republicans in Congress, and in the New Media itself. They have done this all along, but the Left and the media will find much more enthusiasm for these efforts in order to trade Van Jones’ scalp for one or more on the Right.
Ed has never been wrong before; and it appears that it is already starting against Glenn Beck. RedState’s Erick Erickson has discovered an Plea Entry over at DailyKos from none other than the DNC’s chief spokesperson himself; Keith Olbermann, asking for any and all dirt on Glenn Beck and his producers and anyone else over at Fox News.
I don’t know why I’ve got this phrasing in my head, but: Find everything you can about Glenn Beck, Stu Burguiere, and Roger Ailes.
No, even now, I refuse to go all caps.
No, sending me links to the last two Countdowns with my own de-constructions of his biblical vision quality Communist/Fascist/Socialist/Zimbalist art at Rockefeller Center (where, curiously, he works, Comrade) doesn’t count. Tuesday we will expand this to the television audience and have a dedicated email address to accept leads, tips, contacts, on Beck, his radio producer Burguiere, and the chief of his tv enablers, Ailes (even though Ailes’ power was desperately undercut when he failed to pull off his phony “truce” push).
This becomes necessary after this in order to prove various cliches about goose and gander, and to remind everybody to walk softly and carry a big popsicle, and most particularly to save this nation from the Oligarhy of The Stupid.
I keep wondering if somewhere somebody named Ollie Garhey thinks he’s in charge now. Or, even more entertainingly and societally satisfying, if somebody named Ali Garhi does.

You almost hear the desperation in that posting above. The Liberals took a massive pounding and they are in earnest trying to find a way to volley a return fire at Glenn Beck. If you believe that they are going to stop with Glenn Beck; you are kidding yourselves. My suggestion to ALL Conservative Bloggers is this. Girt your loins, prepare for attacks on your blogs, by Socalists. If you are running WordPress Blogs, update to the latest version of WordPress. Because right now, there is a worm spreading aroundthat is taking out older versions of WordPress. I would expect that these socialist minions are more than willing to try DOS attacks on blogs. Especially high profile Blogs. If you do not have a good relations with your host. Now would be a good time to start one or find a host that is blogger friendly.
It is not my intention to scare anyone or anything of that nature. But it would be prudent of all of us; that if we continue to challenge this Administration; we must be prepared for the fallout and for any sort blow-back that might result from the resignation of Obama Administration officials. Remember we are doing the Lord’s work. This is our God-Given Country, and we must stand up for the principles that this Country was founded upon; which are God-Breathed. While I do not view all Democrats as my enemy per-say; I view socialists and Socialism, especially of the Saul Alinsky strand, to be an Enemy of America; right up there with Al-Qaeda. We must be strong, we must be wise and above all, we must be ready.
Matt Mullenweg and I have had words in the past. I am sure that he is a great guy; but there are times when stuff comes out of his mouth; well, in this case, from his Keyboard, that send me into a rage.
Instead of getting angry and flipping my cork on him. I figure I will answer his Blog posting on the things, that I am assuming that he finds highly annoying.

There have been a number of new platforms popping up recently that claim to increase your user engagement, get you more comments, increase your traffic, and more, through means that I consider short-sighted and harmful. Since people seem not to mind, I thought I’d write a guide for how to increase the number of comments you get by 400-1,000% and ruin whatever shred of community you had on your site.
Man…. you think we can get a bit more snark in there, please? 😉
I was looking at the backend of my blog, (The backend, is the place that the admins check in to do Admin stuff…) and I saw the posting below…..:
Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend. Many of the plugin authors I have spoken with throughout the community tell me that very rarely do they ever get a donation let alone a Thank You for releasing their work to the public. Based on the plugin authors feedback, end users demand more features, demand better support, and in the end, have this feeling of entitlement even if the plugin is available without a price tag. The reality is, that for a freely available plugin, you’re not entitled to anything. I don’t know about you, but I certainly would not like to be part of a community that is known as thankless.
Before I list a few ways of curbing this attitude, I must say that not EVERYONE in the community acts in the ways I described above. I know many of us have donated to plugin authors, have written reviews of plugins to give them exposure, have said thank you, etc. This post is not geared towards you but towards those who seemingly want to have their cake and eat it too.
Saying Thanks – I believe saying thank you is underrated these days. Saying thanks can go a long way in making a plugin author feel good about themselves for their contribution to the community.
So, seeing today is a bit a slow news day and because I’m really not much in the mood to write about silly political stories. I thought, instead of sitting and e-mailing all these people, I will write about it and then e-mail them, if I can, a link to the blog entry.
There is a great number of people to acknowledge for making this blog great.
First off is the team at WordPress. WordPress is the best Blogging platform around. Matt and the team have advanced in great strides in the last few years in advancing the software. I give them top billing.
Second off is my buddy Ryan Yaple, Ryan is a saint of a young man; who stepped into a rather bad situation a few years back, and basically gave me hosting for free. I am getting a check from Adsense soon here and I plan on giving him some of it. Thanks Ryan, you’re a saint man! 🙂
Thirdly, Site5 hosting; The service can be described in one word — Amazing. They’ve went well and above what most hosts would even do for their customers. Even when I have contacted them having a bitching screaming fit when my blog was down. You guys are the best, and I mean that.
Before I get into the Plug in’s. Let me tell you about the template that I use, that makes this Blog look so good. I’ve done little modification to it. One minor one, and I changed the header photos, and do I plan to add more as I go along —- The Theme name is called Atahualpa and it is written by a man named Flynn, who lives over in Germany. While WordPress is awesome, and the hosting is no slouch either; WordPress would be nothing with the Plugin Authors. Here are the one’s that I use and recommend highly to any Blog that wants to do this for a living — and actually make money doing it. They are:
Akismet – Akismet is a Plug-in that checks my Blog comments and makes sure that they’re not spam, if they are; it tosses ’em into the spam folder. — Matt Mullenweg wrote it originally, but now, there’s a team handling it. Here’s the Company’s website. Without this Plugin, life would not be happy for WordPress users.
All in One SEO Pack –There is one word to describe this plug in; and that’s awesome. You want to be seen and read in the Blogsphere and want the google juice? Get this Plug in. If you came in via Google search; it was most likely because of this Plug in.
Apture – Apture is the plug in that creates that neat little symbol next to links that I post to Wikipedia Entries and/or Youtube or google videos. There’s much more to that plug-in, half of which I do not even use. It’s quite the awesome plug in and I like it quite a bit. Check out their site!
Contact Form 7 – A very simple, but very nice form to mail plug in. If you have ever contacted me via the Blog. You have used this Plug in. Check out the author’s Site.
Drafts Dropdown – This is a new plug in that I just installed, but it was written by one of the WordPress team members. Check out Crowd Favorite‘s Website! – This plug allows me to access any draft posting for the blog, that I may have created, easier. I highly recommend it for all wordpress users.
FeedBurner FeedSmith – A Great plug-in that basically makes it much easier for you people to get my Blog via RSS. Feedburner’s Site is here.
Podcasting – Podcasting is just that, a simple WordPress plug-in to allow people to set up a simple podcast from their Blog. It is written and supported by Spiral Web Consulting. Visit the Plugin’s page here. — Whenever I link to any offsite audio or video, I am using this Plugin to do so. It is quite the awesome plug in, I highly recommend it.
ShareThis – ShareThis is a neat little plug in, that allows me, or you, the reader to share blog postings with all of the nifty social networks out there. I highly recommend it. – Plugin Website.
StatPress Reloaded – If there is one thing that we Bloggers are most anal retentive about, it is stats. (well, at least, I AManyhow… :D) We Bloggers like to know, where, how, and how many. This Plugin Delivers that and much more. – Visit the Plug-in’s website and the Author’s website.
Subscribe To Comments – This nifty little plug-in does what the title says, allows you to get an e-mail, if someone replies to your comment or if a new comment is posted. You will see a box asking you if you want to subscribe to comments. If you have checked it, this plug in handles your request. A handsome young man, by the name of Mark Jaquith writes this Plug in.
WordPress.com Stats – As I said before, we blogging types like our stats. Some of us really like our Stats. This is another one of them kinda Plug-Ins. This one was written by the fellers at WordPress. It was written by some dude named Andy Skelton. (I wonder if he’s related to Red Skelton?) Here’s the Plug in’s webpage.
WordPress Beta Tester – There are actually some weirdos who actually like to Alpha and Beta test software on live Blogs. I’m one of them, this is a nice little plug in, that helps that process along. By the way, I am Alpha testing WordPress Version 2.9. Strange folk aren’t I? 😀 – Plugin’s Website. Plug-in Author Peter Westwood‘s Site. Update: I removed this Plug in, as I stopped Beta testing. But it was a great plug in.
WordPress Mobile Edition – This Plug-in allows you to view my Blog on your cellphone. So, whether you are on a BlackBarry or one of them snobby elitist iPhones —- that I cannot afford, this Plug-in is helping that along. Plug-in HomePage — Author’s Homepage
WP-Ban – This is one plug-in that I did not want to install, but there are those idiots that just cannot be told, “You cannot do that!”, so, I had to install a plug-in to keep the idiots out. Here’s the Plug-in’s Website and the Author’s Site.Update #2: I removed this Plug in, was causing some issues with people being able to view the Blog. I do not think that it is 100% compatible with Wordpess 2.8.x
WP-SpamFree – This plug-in here is another line of defense against spammers, Plain and simple; the plug in works damn good. In fact, there was one instance were it worked too good, and kept a legit comment from getting though. I fixed that, I tweaked the setup just a bit, and that should not happen again. (I Hope!) – The plug in is written by a fine young man named Scott Allen; of whom I have yelled at a few times, when he was first getting started, because his plug-in did not sit straight and fly right. Instead getting angry and folding his arms, he worked harder and now that plug-in almost looks professional. 😉 Seriously, if you want cut down on the spam, get the plug in, you won’t regret it.Update #3: I had to remove this one as well, as it was preventing people from being able to comment. Although, it did work well, perhaps a bit too well!
WP Super Cache – This awesome Plug-in right here saves my behind every month. It keeps me from burning through bandwidth and causing my server to meltdown. It is written by Donncha O Caoimh who lives somewhere across the big pond in Ireland. Donncha is a good sport, I’ve hollered at him, when his Plug-in decided that it wanted to do things it’s way, instead of mine. He’s a good sport, he hollers back! 😀 Anyhow, If you are one of them professional blogger types, this; and all of the others I have listed are the one’s to get. It will keep you up and running during traffic spikes. — Plug-in’s Homepage
I guess the only thing left is, well, You. You guys are the one’s that have really made this blog what it is. That’s right, you; the reader. Many of you are silent, some have braved my comment rules and have stepped in and have told me that you agree, or that I was a damned idiot and didn’t know what heck I was talking about. You have also took blog postings and have left them in forums, sent them in e-mails to your friends and family, and sent me tons of traffic; you did that. Heck, I’m just the store keeper and I just have the know-how of how to keep the store running. You people are what makes this Blog really work.
This blog, never was, nor will it ever be; about me. If it ever becomes that, I will close this blog down, sell the domain and go back to just being another unemployed truck driver. It is about you. The American people, those of you, who are not willing to accept the lies and the deception of the Liberal Main Stream Media; but want to hear the truth or at least my take on it. Those of you who know and realize that the Democrats and yes, some Republicans; are not for the American people, but have their own self interests in mind. That is what this blog was founded for, and is what it is about today. It is about getting the truth to the people; even if it tends to hurt myself or the group of people that I align myself with.

I’ve been beta testing this new version for a while. It’s finally here, WordPress 2.7 “Coltrane” has arrived.
Here’s a sneak peek at all the nifty new stuff:
My biggest memory was ftp’ing the new version to the server and getting the dreaded “Internal Server Error” and not having and clue as to why. Finally, I figured it out. There was a hack for PHP.INI in my public_html directory that was supposed to jack up the memory limit, the new version already had a high memory limit. I removed it and it worked fine. I was really sweating. But, It worked, once I figured out what the heck I was doing wrong.
The new version is so awesome, I personally recommend that you upgrade. Just be damned sure you’re not trying to heck PHP.INI at all. Otherwise you’ll end up with the dreaded issue like I did. 🙄

I’ve decided to go with something a bit different. I noticed that a theme that I absolutely love has been updated…finally, after many years of it not being up to date for the latest wordpress.
I may add a picture at a later date. But this is what I’ve wanted to run for a long while now. I needed a change of pace, badly.. That other theme was getting quite old. I promise. I won’t be changing themes every other week.
I figured out my problem. it was a hack for the php.ini file on here that was causing wordpress 2.7 beta 1 to not want to work… I got rid of that and no more problems.
Man, if you haven’t see the new wordpress. It’s awesome… Wow!
You might have noticed that the Blog went away for a little bit earlier.
No, Liberals did not hack into the Blog.
Yours truly attempted to download and install a beta version of WordPress. The install went fine. it was when I opened my Blog in a browser, I got the dreaded 500 error, which is an internal server error! Yikes! 😮 😯
I think it had something to do with a file in my host directory being not writable or something.
Luckily for me, I did a FULL system back up of my current install. Whew! I didn’t lose anything, at all, this time.

Update: Oy, I even tried a second time. I dunno what the hell is wrong. I tried asking over in the Wp-Testers and best they could do is suggest commenting out some code in the new version. So, I said, “Fuck it!” and ended up doing a reinstall from Fantasico and upgraded back to 2.6.3. Needless, to say, I don’t agree well with Beta versions. Arrrgh! It’s enough to make me want to Punch a damn hippie! 😡 Needless to say, no more filly fartin’ around with the blog! Back to blogging! 😀
I just picked up Microsoft Office 2007, Word 2007 is awesome, except it treats Quotes like indents. Anyone know of a nice WordPress Plug in for Word 2007?
For one, I was not very happy with WordPress. For some reason, I just cannot find a damn template that reflects what this Blog is all about.
I also seem to have moved to a hosting server, which will not allow WordPress to accept or send out, trackback pings.
I dunno if it’s a software bug or this hosting server got a oddball set up or what, but it’s fucking deaf, when it comes to incoming pings and trackbacks. I am pissed about it, But right now there’s fucking zero I can do about it.
Update: I guess it does work.
Anyhow, I thought I’d try a move to MovableType, believe me, when I say this. It was a fucking nightmare! 😮 I’ll never try that again, that’s for sure! Egad. It’s nice, but I could not figure that stuff out, at all. Hell, I could not even get it to work, I FTP’ed it, got the dreaded 500 Error. Internal server error. I did try to fix it, and nothing worked.
So, luckily I was smart enough to grab my entries and various other stuff via the export tool. Well, when I saw that the Moveable type was not going to work, I retreated to WordPress. Well, in the process of coming back, I had to widdle my import file down to 8 megs, so, some of the newer entries here are basically, “Down the memory hole”…
I will say this much, thanks to Ryan, who hooked me up with some awesome hosting, that poor kid puts up with a lot, and with me, that’s saying a WHOLE BUNCH!. 😆
So…. for now, until I find a nice template that knocks me socks off. It’s the damn default template and limited ads here. I might just keep it like this. If I like it.
Update: I found one, it’s not really want I wanted. But it beats the shit out of default. 😀
I turned to look over my shoulder to see who had uttered that ridiculous statement.
“Pardon Me?” I squinted at the dark-skinned man who had just interjected himself into my over-coffee conversation with my buddy, Kevin.
“Obama ain’t black.” He said again more matter-of-factly as he walked around the porcelain dividing wall and stood at our table where he could be more active in our conversation.
“My name’s Andree,” he said as he extended his hand. “I couldn’t help but hear what you boys had been discussin’ and I don’t mean to stick my nose in where it don’t belong, but I couldn’t leave without settin’ you straight. Obama ain’t black.”
I looked at Kevin as he shifted nervously in his seat, not sure how to take this visitor to our table.

I will simply say the following, that it is pretty telling when Obama is doing better in White America, out in places where blacks are in rare supply, than he is in the more urban communities.
