A Political Byline Special Presentation: Crawford

My friend Ryan sent me this. Normally I do not post things that other people send to me. But in light of recent events that landed in the crosshairs of the left and landed me on Gawker.com. I am publishing this Movie to show those, who might want to kill me or at worse call me names, that I am not some sort of Bush loving, flag waving freak, who thinks anyone that disagrees with me is inherently evil.

This movie is about the town that President George W. Bush basically used as a prop for his Presidential Campaign. You will see a town, that got swept up into the fury of support for George W. Bush and a town flourish because of it. Youā€™ll see a town that became ground zero for an Anti-War and Pro-War movement that almost drove it apart. Finally, you will see a town, that lives in almost ruin, and is possibly divided, all because of the political ambitions and a warped political ideology of President, who is now leaving that town and moving somewhere else.

This movie shows something, something interesting, something frightening, something that only affirms my beliefs that I could never, ever, be a Republican. It shows us that people that fail to think for themselves and allow themselves to be blinded by a flawed Political Ideology are truly shallow and quite frankly, scary people. Further more, it shows how those who mix their Religious beliefs and their Politics are very dangerous people.

Have said all that, I present to youā€¦ā€¦ Crawford

Editorial: Do we really want another Neo-Conservative in the White House?

It is not every day that I find myself in agreement with Keith Olbermann. In fact, fifty percent of the time, I find myself talking back to the television, when his show is on. However, this time is a huge exception. In this video, Keith comes to the same conclusion that I myself came to, while watching the debates Thursday night. That conclusion is that Sarah Palin, for all her good looks, down to earth charm, and Conservative values is nothing more than President George W. Bush in a womanā€™s body.

The Video:

Honestly, what else are independent minded people like me supposed to think? While I am a Libertarian Paleo-Conservative, I am also quite the Constitutionalist. It is no myth at all the Vice-President Dick Cheney literally stepped all over our Nationā€™s Constitution. In fact, I can honestly tell you that while I do not fear George W. Bush, I frankly do fear Dick Cheney, which is Because Dick Cheney is in my opinion the perfect embodiment of a right wing fascist.

I read with great amusement recently where Neo-Conservative publisher Joseph Farah stated that fascism is a left wing doctrine. While he is possibly correct in his definition of the word and the philosophy behind it, if he thinks that fascism is only limited to the liberal side of the political fence he is very highly mistaken. One need only take one look at the Bush Administrationā€™s attempts to silence those who pointed out that Bush and his corrupt Administration were wrong about Weapons of Mass Destruction, which they frantically waved in front of the American people, as an excuse to invade a country that had absolutely nothing to do with the September 11 attacks.

Then during this Vice-Presidential debate, we have a Vice President candidate carping about how she wants to expand the powers of the office of Vice-President. Is this ignorant woman serious? This is supposed to be a Republican candidate for President of United States, A Conservative, and Conservatives believe in limited Government, less taxes and individual freedom. Yet this woman wants to expand the role of the Vice President and thereby increase the size of our Government. Is there any other Independent Conservative-minded person that sees something terribly wrong with this picture, besides me?

While I do applaud the accomplishments of this woman, (What little they might be) I just cannot sit idly by and not speak out against this womanā€™s Neo-Conservatism and Rockefeller type of Conservatism. America, especially here in Michigan, has suffered through eight years of George W. Bushā€™s idiotic failed policies. We cannot afford four to eight more years of royally screwing the middle class, while Wall Street gets richer and richer. We cannot afford four to eight more years of George W. Bush and frankly, Dick Cheney in a skirt!

I urge everyone that happens to read this blog, Conservative and Liberal. Republican, Democrat, and everyone in between to really take a good hard look at this woman and her running mate and think about it; do we really want another President like the one we have in there? While I am not a big fan of the socialist agenda of Barack Obama and Joe Biden, I honestly have to wonder, would America be better off with a Democrat in the White House, who might raise taxes a little and might put forth some socialist programs for those who might actually need them?

There is no mistake, the idea that Government will expand under an Obama Administration is nothing more than a well-manufactured myth. Our Government is already oversized as it is and anyone who believes that John McCain will reduce the size of the Government is suffering from delusions of grandeur. He will no more reduce the size of our Government, than I will take up the cause for Roman Catholicism.

I firmly believe that it is high time that the American people, political pundits, and the media pull their collective heads out of the sand and begin to think for themselves and really ask themselves, what do we want for a President? Because if we make the tragic mistake that we made in 2000 and 2004, America will become nothing more than a wasteland. Instead of people looking at America with pride, they will look away in utter horror and disbelief that we as American citizens allowed our country and ourselves to become. We simply cannot afford to be asleep at the switch this election season.

Thanks for reading.

Amazing: WorldNetDaily proves Barack Obama right!

Amazing

Of course, other Blogs like Hotair and Macsmind will say, "Oh, WND cannot be trusted."

Kudo’s to Farah for getting this story.

What I am referring to is, that Barack Obama is constantly said, and even said during the debate that Al-Qaeda is back to pre-9/11 status and strength. Which McCain and other Neo-Cons Deny.

Oy! – Communist Liberal New York Times Asks: “What Should Be Done with the 9/11 Hijackers’ Remains?”

You are not going to believe this one. I even cannot believe it.

It is stories like this right here, that convince me, that the New York Times is nothing more than a front for the Communist Party of the United States.

It seems that we have the remains of 13 of the 19 men, who slammed the planes in to the World Trade Center Towers, the Pentagon and into that field in Pennsylvania. Now, it seems, that the New York Times is fretting about what should become of the remains of these monsters who carried out the attacks, of September 11, 2001.  The attacks that killed 2,999 and injured 6,291 or more.

Quoting the Communists:

Seven years after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, the remains of 13 of the 19 men responsible have been identified and are in the custody of the F.B.I. and the New York City medical examiner’s office.

But no one has formally requested the remains in order to bury them.

"Politically, one can understand that this is a hot potato," said Muneer Fareed, secretary general of the Islamic Society of North America and a former professor of Islamic studies. "People don’t want to identify with the political equivalent of Jeffrey Dahmer."

What would happen if someone asked for the hijackers’ remains is not clear.

Neither the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which holds the remains of the nine hijackers whose planes hit the Pentagon and crashed in a field in Somerset County, Pa., nor the New York City medical examiner’s office, which holds the remains of 4 of the 10 hijackers who flew planes into the World Trade Center buildings, has policies to deal with such a request.

"If and when it comes up, we’ll address it then," an F.B.I. spokesman, Richard Kolko, said.

The bureau could turn down such requests, Mr. Kolko said, because the Sept. 11 investigation is an open case.

The medical examiner’s office, which, like the F.B.I., refuses to say where exactly the remains are being kept, will eventually put together a committee to come up with a policy, said Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the office.

Groups representing the victims of Sept. 11 are not sure what should be done with the remains.

"It would be sadly ironic if they ended up being properly buried or sent to a Muslim country when many of the remains of the victims remain buried in a garbage dump," said Kurt Horning, a founder with his wife, Diane, of the group WTC Families for Proper Burial. "I know we’d feel very distressed."

The Hornings’ son, Matthew, 26, was working at the World Trade Center and died there on Sept. 11. Their group has been advocating for excavation of the Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island where ash and other debris from the World Trade Center site was buried. The group believes the debris may contain identifiable remains.

The identified remains of the victims of Sept. 11 are regularly returned to their families upon request, after officials have made positive identifications.

Some of the users at Right Wing News have some ideas.

What really tweaks me off about this is, why in the hell would a major newspaper such as the New York Times, even have the audacity to even ask a question like this in public newspaper?

I mean, has The New York Times utterly forgotten the horror and shock felt on the morning that the terrorist attacks were carried out in this country? You know, I have accused the far left of being nothing more than terrorist sympathizers, but this just proves it more than I could ever imagine.

As I have said on this Blog many times before, almost to the point where it has become somewhat of a talking point. Do you now see why I left that side of the damned political isle?

I am sorry, but any damned political party that believes, that terrorists have the same standing in the World, as the rest of law abiding Americans, is, as far as I am concerned nothing more than pure Anti-American. The people that carried out the September 11 attacks on this country were not humans, they were utter animals, possessed by a satanic religion that teaches that it is, if I can dare to be so blunt to even use the word; godly to kill people to further a mindless purpose in a religion.

There is a ton more I could write about this, as to my feelings about Islam. But for one, I do not what to be pegged as a hatemonger and two, this entry would be like 4 pages long. Instead, Iā€™ll just refer you to my bookstore, where I have a section to Islam and the hatred behind it. Click here to go check it out. I am also thinking of adding a section about 9/11, It will be added in the near future.

Editorial: Sometimes acting like Michelle Malkin is a good thing

I sit here tonight, as a former “left of center” Blogger, amazed at what has become of the party, that I once used to just blindly vote for every year.Ā  I fully understand what Ronald Reagan was referring to, when he quoted Al Smith in his 1964 speech called “Rendezvous with Destiny.” Ā It just seems to me that the Liberals in this country of ours, instead of listening to the other side of the political fence and possibly learning from them, are more interested in mocking them and living in their own altered state of reality. Conversely, I have been told that this is nothing new, Democrats have been doing this for years.

Earlier tonight, I was over looking around on a well-known liberal Blog called Crooks and Liars, which, for those of you who are not normally of the Blogging community is a rather humorous reference to former President Richard M. Nixon’s statement of, “I am not a crook.” John Amato, A liberal from California, runs that rather interesting Blog. Ā Earlier tonight, John made a rather flippant comment that burned me to my core, and as a result, I felt the need to write about it, and the person, of whom he was referring.

John Amato was reporting on a Conservative Radio host from Alaska, who rather idiotically, made some rather nasty comments about some women holding a Anti-Sarah Palin rally in Alaska, and also about him giving their personal cell phone numbers out, whereby causing some of them to receive threats. Ā The host was suspended a week, without pay, which I feel was ample punishment.Ā  To be fair to the Host, he was not aware that the numbers given out were personal cell phone numbers.

It was not the reporting of the incident that annoyed me to my core, it was the rather offhanded, mean spirited comment that was attached to the reporting of that story, that warranted this Editorial.Ā  The comment that sent me over the rails, the comment, that I feel, was a shot over the bow of a rather highly intelligent woman, who I feel is unique spokesperson for American Conservative values in this Country.

“Acting like Michelle Malkin does have some consequences after all.”

That, Mr. Amato, is over the line.Ā  I will explain why. However, I do not expect you, being locked into your bastardly Liberal mindset, to understand why I feel so damned strongly about this. Nevertheless, I will try to make your rather simple liberal mind understand the questions I am about to ask you.Ā  I realize it might be a crab shoot with you, but I am in need of a challenge this evening and you are the target of interest.

  1. Do you believe that Michelle Malkin’s due diligence in reporting on the war on terror is a hateful thing? Ā I would expect so, seeing most of you liberals believe that we should try to talk to people who want to see this Nation and everything it stands for destroyed.
  2. I suppose that you believe that Michelle Malkin’s reporting of the vandalism that happened to the Vietnam vets war memorial in Washington D.C. is a hateful thing as well? Ā This would not surprise me. Ā Seeing it is you liberals, who hate our military, to the point of wanting America to lose a war and return home in disgrace.Ā  Vietnam proved that sir.
  3. I suppose you would disapprove of Michelle Malkin’s resolve to “Lan Astaslem” which is Arabic for “I will not submit/surrender?”Ā  This is a pledge that we as Americans will not submit or surrender to Islamic extremists who want to strike fear into the American people and ruin our livelihoods, something that I also believe in, to my very core.Ā  I say this because it is you and your Liberal friends wish to appease those who want to destroy this Nation.

Yes, Michelle Malkin and I do have our differences.Ā  Her brand of Conservatism is a bit different from mine.Ā  I do not agree with every thing that she writes.Ā  I am not a “Malkin-bot,” a funny term that I gave to some of her supporters, who tend to be, what I and Andrew P. Napolitano like to call sheep. However, that is about where the differences end.Ā  When it comes to matters of National Defense and Defending our Military against those who would like to see it destroyed, including brain-dead liberals like you, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid. Ā I am, in fact, in agreement with her on these issues.

In closing, let me simply say this.Ā  The Democrats talk about change.Ā  Well, this year is going to be a major change for me as well.Ā  For the first time, since I have legally eligible to vote, I will be not voting for a Democrat.Ā  This is because the party that I used to just blindly vote for, in every election has totally drifted beyond the point that I feel to be acceptable in American politics.Ā  I am sorry, but I cannot and will not vote for a Party’s candidate, whose politics resemble that of Karl Marx or that of the Nazi Party. Ā Furthermore, I will not vote for a candidate whose party abdicated its core principles in the Primary and at the convention, just so they could hurry up and get their nominee.

This is to say nothing of the communist socialist agenda, Ā the wholesale slaughter of innocent babies, the outright attack of the Judeo-Christian Faith, The Promotion and advocating of the Atheistic movement and the furtherance of the Homosexual agenda, the promoting of Identity Politics within the African-American community, in response to a perceived and mostly falsely assumed attack on the Negro Race.

All of these things are why this Blogger will be voting differently on November 4, 2008.

From the “WTF?!?!?!?!?” File

I won’t quote the whole thing, because it is an AP Story. But this cannot be very good at all.

Quote:

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Pakistan’s military has ordered its forces to open fire if U.S. troops launch another air or ground raid across the Afghan border, an army spokesman said Tuesday.

The orders, which come in response to a highly unusual Sept. 3 ground attack by U.S. commandos, are certain to heighten tension between Washington and a key ally against terrorism.

[…]

“The orders are clear,” Abbas said in an interview. “In case it happens again in this form, that there is a very significant detection, which is very definite, no ambiguity, across the border, on ground or in the air: open fire.”

Can someone remind me here again, why we didn’t just bomb these bastards into the stone age, when we went in there originally?

Oy… Another one of Dubya’s screw ups. The damned idiot. šŸ˜”

Powerful Video

I do wonder if the Obama campaign has seen this or not.

(H/T to Blogwonks)

…..However, I will be fair enough to point out the mistakes.

The Bush Administration admitted that the intelligence that the Bush Administration had, in the leading up to the war, was flat out wrong. Not to mention the “Cherry picking” and stifling of evidence and contrary opinion that surfaced during the lead up the war. Which, in the opinion of this writer, is nothing more than abject fascism.

While I am smart enough to know that this video was not made by the McCain campaign. It does ring at the certain heart string of the American people. However, factually this video falls on it’s face. I agree that the men and women who died in this war, did so believing that they were doing the right thing. However, it does not excuse the fact that mistakes were made. Further more, this video comes across as using our United States Military as some sort of political prop. Which I feel is absolutely sickening.

While this video may be powerful in image and in message. I believe it is a brazen attempt to smear Obama as unpatriotic and inferring that Obama hates our Military persons. That, I am afraid is a bogus lie. I assure you, that if Obama was as nearly as uncaring of our Military personnel as this video infers, he would not even be in the race at all. Because middle America would have never elected him the early primary, if he would have come off as uncaring towards our Military in the primary.

I just do not believe that people are going to buy the subtle message being inferred in this ad, at all. Perhaps in 2004, or even in 2000. But not this time. The country has shifted too much to the left. This because of the many scandals, missteps, and outright blunders by the Government in the last 8 years.

An excellent interview of a 9/11 survivor

I saw this and I just had to share it with you all.

There is an very excellent interview of a 9/11 Survivor over at Tygrrr Express.

I very, very, very, very (That’s 3 very’s!) highly recommend that you read that interview.

It is one thing to sit here, 602.35 miles away from New York and Blog about how damned horrible the September 11 attacks really are. But until you meet someone who got out or you read an interview, like this one. You can never really appreciate the sadness, the horror and the full scope of that tragedy.

Go read this one it’s well worth it.

Neo-Conservative Michelle Malkin pulls another bone-headed move

Once again, I am forced to criticize Neo-Conservative Michelle Malkin’s writings.

Taking her marching orders from Neil and John Podhoretz, Michelle Malkin goes on a rather idiotic rant.

….On the way Barack Obama lays his flowers at the 9/11 memorial in New York.

Quoting Malkin:

Itā€™s a small gesture, but gestures matter at the hallowed grave site of so many murdered innocent Americans.

Barack Obama flings a memorial rose at Ground Zero like heā€™s a kid
tossing pennies into a fountain at the shopping mall ā€” or a spectator
tossing flowers at a bullfight.

He doesnā€™t know what heā€™s doing.

(Clueless NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg copies him.)

By contrast, John McCain and his wife kneel and gently, somberly, place their roses down at the foot of the 9/11 tribute.

For the record, it was not flung, as Mrs. Malkin put it, he tossed it. So what?

What the hell exactly did she want, for Barack Obama to drop to his knees and wail? Please. If he would have that, Malkin would have criticized him for being a world class phony. For the record, so would have I. But that’s another story! šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜€

Further more, by posting this sort of drivel on her Blog, she further promotes that whole mentality, that Barack Obama is a undercover terrorist. Which she has in the past inferred, and has continued to infer on her blog AND in her columns.

I respect her writings and her views, I agree with her views on the military, very much so. In fact, it was Malkin’s coverage of the defacing of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. that was one of the many deciding factors for me to no longer vote Democrat, and for me to basically decide that I was not as much as a “Democrat” as I had assumed that I was. This, going against my own family. But, this little bit of nonsense right here goes beyond the pail, and this on a National Day of remembering the dead.

Now, I know Michelle, she will not approve my trackback, because, like most Neo-Conservatives, she’s a fascist. She does not want her many legions of readers to see that someone, like me, who is a Conservative, albeit, an Libertarian leaning, Paleo-Conservative; disagreeing with her and publicly chastising her for her moment of blatant stupidity. Comes with the territory.

Sorry, “Sweetie”, but you blew it on this one. I am very highly disappointed in you, young lady. I still like ya, but you really, really, should not have published that, at all.

May we never forget…

(Photo by Chris Muir)

This is not a day for writing or Blogging or Political Discourse. It is a day of solemn remembrance.

Some Photos:

5957

It was a day, that I personally will never forget.

63384_11_7_2007_2_26_38_AM_-_iwo-9-11-final

It was a day that, at first, brought this Nation together as one, but in the end, divided us. Conservatives against Liberals, Liberals against Conservatives.

9.11 Victim

It was a day of courage, bravery and incredible loss.

National_Park_Service_9-11_Statue_o

It was the day when the war on terror, came to our shores.

Sept14_BushBeckwithBullhorn

It was a day, when a President rallied a Nation together and for a time it seemed, would catch those who carried out these attacks.

It has been said, that an image or a picture can capture more than any printed work could possible ever hope to convey. I give you these in that very spirit:

THE PRESIDENTgwbush9-11-01speech: Good evening. Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes, or in their offices; secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers; moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.

The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch theĀ  foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America — with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.

Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government’s emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it’s prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, D.C. to help with local rescue efforts.

Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured, and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks.

The functions of our government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight, and will be open for business tomorrow. Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business, as well.

The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I’ve directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.

I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance.

America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world, and we stand together to win the war against terrorism. Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.”

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Thank you. Good night, and God bless America.

~~~
ā€œNo matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through toĀ  absolute victory.
I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.ā€ — The White House, December 8, 1941
God Bless The United States of America and to the Republic for which our Constitution and Lady Liberty stands.
Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment: The Republicans Hijacked 9/11
Finally, Keith Olbermann has his say on a subject that I wrote about a while back.
Transcript: (via MSNBC)
As promised, a Special Comment about our sad anniversary tomorrow.
Or, more correctly, what our sad anniversary tomorrow has been turned into by the presidential administration, and the current Republican candidates for President and Vice President.
This is supposed to be a day of remembrance. Remembrance of the attack, remembrance of the national unity which followed it.
Most important of all, remembrance of the dead.
But 9/11 has become a brand name. A Republican campaign slogan. Propaganda of the lowest form. 9/11 has become 9/11 with a trademark logo.
9/11 (TM) has sustained a president who long ago should have been dismissed, or impeached. It has kept him and his gang of financial and constitutional crooks in office without ā€” literally ā€” any visible means of support.
9/11 (TM) has made possible the greatest sleight-of-hand in our nationā€™s history.
The political party in office at the time of the attacks, at the local, state and national levels, the party which uniformly ignored the warnings and the presidential administration already through twenty percent of its first term and no longer wet behind the ears, have not only thus far escaped any blame for the malfeasance and criminal neglect that allowed the attacks to occur, but that presidency and that party, have managed to make it seem as if the other political party would be solely and irredeemably responsible for any similar catastrophe in the future.
Thus, Sen. McCain, were you able to accomplish a further inversion of reality at your partyā€™s nominating convention last week.
There was the former Mayor of the City of New York,  the one who took no counter-terrorism measure in his seven years in office between the first attack on the World Trade Center, and the second attack.
Nothing, except to insist, despite all advice and warning, that his Emergency Command Center be moved directly into the World Trade Center.
Yet there was this man, Sir, Rudolph Giuliani, quite succinctly dismissed as ā€œA Noun, a Verb, and 9/11,ā€ and repudiated even by Republican voters,  transformed into the keynote speaker, Sen. McCain at your convention.
And his childish, squealing, braying, Touretteā€™s-like repetition of 9/11 (TM), was greeted not as conclusive evidence that he is consumed by massive guilt – hard-earned guilt, in fact  but rather as some kind of political tour-de-force, an endorsement of your Vice Presidential nominee, a rookie governor , a facile and slick con artist.
The blind endorsing the bland, to a chorus of 9/11 (TM), 9/11 (TM), 9/11 (TM.)
Your ringing mindless cheer of ā€œWeā€™ve Kept You Safe Since Then.ā€While nobody asks ā€œdoesnā€™t then count?ā€
All of this, sadistically disrespecting the dead of New York, and Washington, and Shanksville. Endorsed,  Sen. McCain. Exploited, Sen. McCain. Trademarked, Sen. McCain by you.
And yet of course the exact moment in which Sen. McCainā€™s Republicans showed the nation exactly how far they have fallen from the Better Angels of Mr. Lincolnā€™s Nature, came the next night.
The television networks were told that the Convention would pause, early in the evening, when children could still be watching, for a 9/11 Tribute, and they were encouraged to broadcast it.
What we got was not a tribute to the dead of 9/11, nor even a tribute to the responders, or the singularity of purpose we all felt. The Republicans gave us sociological pornography, a virtual snuff film.
Years ago, responsible television networks, to the applause of the nation, and the relief of its mental health authorities, voluntarily stopped showing the most graphic of the images of the World Trade Center, except with the strongest of warnings.
And yet, the Republicans, at their convention, having virtually seized control of the cable news operations, showed the worst of it.
This is all anyone with a conscience can show you of what the Republicans showed you. The actual collapse of the smoking towers.
A fleeting image of what might have been a victim leaping to his death from a thousand feet up. And something new. From this angle, ground-level, perfectly framed, images, of the fireball created when the second plane hit the second tower.
It was terrifying. After all its object was to terrify. Not to commemorate, not to call for unity, not to remember the dead. But to terrify.
To open again the horrible wounds, to brand the skin of this nation with the message ā€” as hateful as the terroristsā€™ own, that you must vote Republican or this will happen again and you will die.
And just in case that was not enough, to also dishonestly and profanely conflate 9/11 with the 1979 Iran Hostage Crisis, to stoke the flames of paranoia about another Middle Eastern Nation.
This was a 9/11 Tribute. Not to the dead, nor to the unity. But a tribute to how valuable 9/11 has been as a political tool for the Republican Party. 9/11… (TM.)
Sen. McCain, you had promised us a clean campaign. You could be Snow-White the rest of the way, Sir, yet that manipulative videotape from your convention should tar you always in the minds of decent Americans.
And still, as this seventh 9/11 (TM) approaches that, Sir, is not the worst of your contributions to the utter politicizing of a day that should be sacrosanct to all of us.
Hard to believe, but the Senator has done worse with 9/11 and the evil behind it.
We heard it last week in Minnesota, weā€™ve heard it off and on since January but Senator McCain said it most concisely in June.
ā€œLook,ā€ he said. ā€œI know the area, Iā€™ve been there, I know wars, I know how to win wars, and I know how to improve our capabilities so that we will capture Osama bin Laden ā€” or put it this way, bring him to justice. We will do it. I know how to do it.ā€
Sen. McCain seems to be quite serious, that he and he alone, not the CIA, nor the U.S. Military, nor the current President  can capture bin Laden.
Thus we must take him at his word, that this is no mere ludicrous campaign boast.
We must assume Sen. McCain truly believes he is capable of doing this, and has been capable of doing this, since last January. ā€œWe will capture Osama bin Ladenā€¦ we will do it. I know how to do it.ā€
Well then, Senator, youā€™d better go and do it hadnā€™t you?
Because, Sir, if a man or woman in this nation, Democrat or Republican, had a clear and effective means of capturing or killing Osama bin Ladenā€¦
If that person had been advertising his claim, Senator for eight months.
But if that person not only refused to go to responsible authorities in government and advise them of this plan to catch bin Laden, but further announced he would not even begin to enact this secret plan to corral the worldā€™s most hated man until the end of next January.
What would be your description of such an individual, Senator? Charlatan? Do-nothing? Opportunist? Sen. McCain, if you have, if you have had a means of capturing Osama bin Laden, and you do not immediately inform some responsible authority of the full scope of that plan, you are to some degree great or small aiding and abetting Osama bin Laden.
If you could assist in capturing him now, Sen. McCain, but you have chosen not to you, Sir, have helped Osama bin Laden stay free.
Free to inspire and supervise the terrorists. Free to plan or execute attacks here.
You, Sir, are blackmailing some portion of the American electorate into voting for your party, by promising to help in the capture of bin Laden only if you are made president!
Iā€™d rather win an election than catch bin Laden! No more cynical calculation has ever been made in this nationā€™s history, Sir. If you lose the election, Senator, are you not going to tell the President-Elect?
Are you intending to keep this a secret until the next election and your partyā€™s next nominee? Senator, as you and your Republicans shed your phony, crocodile, opportunistic tears tomorrow on 9/11 TM, in front of the utterly disingenuous banner ā€œCountry First,ā€ the fact is, you have shown that it is John McCain first, and the country last.
The fact is, Sir, by holding out on your secret plan to catch bin Laden by searing those images into our collective wounded American psyche at your nomination last week, terrorists are not what you, John McCain, fight. Terrorists are what you, John McCain, use.
Amen and Amen. This is why I will not be voting Republican, ever.
Conservative Blogger Michelle Malkin Harassed by 9/11 Truther Alex Jones – Update: To be clear, Alex Jones DID NOT threaten Malkin….
Here’s the Video, Via The People’s Press Collective:
The protesters were hollering “Kill Michelle Malkin“. The Denver Police did nothing.
This is absolutely inexcusable. I always knew Alex Jones was a nutcase, now I know this to be the case. Alex Jones you are disgrace to America, you ignorant asshole, son-of-a-bitch.
My question is, why was not Michelle’s entourage armed and ready for something like this? I would have stuck a gun in Jones’s face and told him to hit the road. I most likely would have went to jail for murder too. šŸ˜”
Mr. Jones, you are history in my book. I’ll never go back to that nut-job’s site. Hell, I’m a Paleo-Conservative, but that man goes beyond that, he’s a freakin’ nut case.
I am all for the Freedom of Speech, but this idiot crossed the line and the feckless idiot police in Denver did nothing at all. Alex Jones belongs in jail, period.
Update: Some readers here have pointed out, and some elsewhere have pointed out that the persons saying “Kill Michelle Malkin” were not with Alex Jones. This may be the case. But still, Alex Jones has NO RIGHT to stalk and scream at people like that. If were there, I have maced the guy in the face, or worse, if need be. My point is, the dude is still an Nut Job and should be in jail, period.
Justice for 9/11 victims or an overreaching justice system? You Decide
I have mixed feelings on this.
The Story Bin Ladenā€™s Former Driver Found Guilty in Split Decision (Via NYTimes.com)
A panel of six military officers convicted a former driver for Osama bin Laden of a war crime Wednesday, completing the first military commission trial here and the first conducted by the United States since the end of World War II.
But the commission acquitted the former driver, Salim Ahmed Hamdan, of a conspiracy charge, arguably the more serious of two charges he faced. His conviction came on a separate but lesser charge of providing material support for terrorism.
Mr. Hamdan, who has said he is about 40, faces a possible life term. The sentence is to be set in a separate proceeding before the same panel that is to begin this afternoon. As the verdict was read, Mr. Hamdan, who has been in custody since he was detained in Afghanistan in November of 2001, stood passively at the defense table in a white headscarf, his head bent slightly down.
The conviction of Mr. Hamdan, a Yemeni who was part of a select group of drivers and bodyguards for Mr. bin Laden until 2001, was a long-sought, if somewhat qualified, victory for the Bush administration, which has been working to begin military commission trials at the isolated naval base here for nearly seven years.
At first thought, One would think “Great! One of the terrorists was convicted.” However upon closer inspection, one sees the following:
Mr. Hamdan was convicted by a panel of six senior military officers who, according to an order of the military judge, could not be publicly identified. The panel deliberated for eight hours over three days. As permitted under the law Congress passed for trials here in 2006, the trial included secret evidence and testimony in a closed courtroom.
Critics have long claimed that the military commission system here does not meet American standards of fundamental justice, in part because the Military Commissions Law allows hearsay evidence and evidence derived through coercive interrogation methods. The public is not allowed in the courtroom, and legal documents are often never released.
After closing arguments Monday, Charles D. Swift, a former Navy lawyer who has represented Mr. Hamdan for years, said the two-week proceeding here had been a trial that did not follow the American rule of law and that the defense believed American courts would eventually correct the legal errors here. Mr. Swift called the military commission ā€œa made-up tribunal to try anybody we donā€™t like.ā€
My question is not if this man deserved to be tried or not, it is HOW he was tried. This whole argument of “He is not a United States citizen, he does not have the right that citizens of the United States possess”, does not wash with me. I am sorry, but we treated Japanese prisoners better than we treat these people.
I just wonder, how long it will be, before our own Government will start treating its own citizens like barbaric animals? If we allow this sort of unconstitutional nonsense to continue, it could be sooner than you think. Could you imagine the horror of being subjected to this sort of a trial? All for insulting a Islamic person or their supposed “Holy Koran”?
Or if someone like me, a protestant, for insulting a roman catholic? It could happen, and believe me, the Roman Catholic Church would be most pleased, after all, they did torture my Baptist forefathers.
I simply give you my opinion. You decide what to do with it.
Editorial: Honestly, When does the political truce start?
I have asked the question aloud many times here in the last few weeks. However, I have never really felt the need to write about this question at all. That is, until now.
America is a nation divided, Liberals hate Conservatives, Conservatives Hate Liberals, Moderates think they are both crazy, and Libertarians hate everybody. I mean, how much more can this Nation stand of this sort of a thing? It is about as bad as the McCarthy era, only worse. At least back on those days, there was a bit of civility amongst the people. Nowadays? Ha! We are fortunate that the readers of “The Nation” and “The National Review” do not have access to the Nations Missile defense system; otherwise, I truly believe that this Nation would be blown to kingdom come.
Keith Olbermann; A man that I respect highly, not only as a writer, but as a political commentator, made a comment on his show a while back, which was possibly one of the most brilliant things to ever come out of that liberal talking bobble head’s mouth, since I have been watching his show. It was, in fact, a short quaint statement; something that I would never expect to hear out of his gullet anyhow.
“A truce would be nice”
I do not believe that Keith realized what he had said. Possibly he did. Perhaps Keith is feeling what many people, I think, are feeling as well. When is the civility in Politics ever going to come back? When are Conservatives and Liberals going to be able to be around one another, without wanting to shout epitaphs at one another? When are things going return back to normal here in America?
I ask this because a few things have happened here in the last few days. For one, a writer, of whom I have a great deal of respect for, decided that the political discourse in America had just gotten to be a bit much and he stopped writing. Second, I happened to notice that a copyright law blogger, just decided that the whole idea of writing had just become too depressing and that he was stopping.
My question is this; has the political atmosphere in America gotten so poisonous that it has seeped into the general consciousness of society to the point where political writers and even non-political writers are just to the point where they are ready to just throw their hands up and give up? Has this President caused this? Has this war caused this? It absolutely boggles the mind.
I write this; not with a solution or an answer, but a question, what will it take? When will the return to normalcy begin? Will it be after the President has left office? Will it be after the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have finally ended? Will there ever be a day in this country; on this planet, that Conservatives and Liberals, Republicans and Democrats, and yes; even Libertarians will be actually able to exist in the same Country and be able to understand one another, but not necessarily agree? Is this normalcy even possible anymore? Did it ever exist at anytime in the past?
Martin Luther King Jr., his politics aside, made a profound choice of words once. Those words spoke of “of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into veins of people normally humane.” I believe that the President of the United States of America, in his misguided mission to bring Democracy to the Middle East, has injected the people of the United States of America with a drug of hate. A hatred of a War; A hatred of a war that no one wanted to be involved with, a hatred of war that was unwanted, unneeded, and very unjustified. A war that was sold to the Nation like a book sold to a blind man, only the pages in this book, were blank.
This hate is not visible; it is not much readily seen. However, there are times when it comes to this surface and rears its ugly head. Just this past week, John McCain’s campaign produced a political ad, attacking Barack Obama. In this ad flashed the images of two well-known white starlets and then an image Barack Obama. Yes, the underlying message was that Obama was in the same league as these women. However, on the sub-conscience level there was a comparison to be made, between White and Black. Barack Obama instead of taking that “Higher Plane” that Dr King spoke of, he allowed himself to be dragged into the hate game. He goes off and makes a comment like “I don’t look like those guys on the Dollar Bills.” Some people would say that Obama played the race card, which is a misconception, what Obama did was play John McCain’s hand sub-consciously. This all comes from that drug of hate, of which Dr. King spoke about.
What is the antidote for this drug of hate? That is a very complex answer. What we need is a truce, a truce that says, I do not agree with those who are of another political persuasion, but I wish them no ill will. Because whether we want to admit it or not, regardless of whether we are Conservatives or Liberals, Democrats or Republicans, we are all still Americans. This is our country and the quicker we all talk ourselves down from the ledges, remove ourselves from the battle stations, and try carry on a civil discourse, rather than the poison of the past. We will never be the nation we were, before September 11, Before the War in Iraq, before President Bush took office. Before everything went berserk in America.
That truce is looking very good right now.
Al Qaeda’s #2, Ayman al-Zawahiri Dead?
This would be sweet…
Via The Jawa Report:
Stratfor reports that the United States is attempting to verify rumors coming out of Pakistan that al Qaeda’s #2, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was killed in a July 28 Predator airstrike.
Intelligence sources told The Jawa Report last week that ‘the hunt was on’ in Pakistan for a ‘big fish’. Could this be the big fish they were talking about?
The major — and I mean major — caveat here is that Zawahiri has been rumored to have been killed on a number of previous occasions.
US Forces are said to be going to make an announcement soon about the rumors.
The stupid chorus of “Can we go home now?” from the commie left to start in 5…4…3…2..1
Suspect in Anthrax Case Commits Suicide
Via the LA Times:
Video:
Quote:
A top government scientist who helped the FBI analyze samples from the 2001 anthrax attacks has died in Maryland from an apparent suicide, just as the Justice Department was about to file criminal charges against him for the attacks, the Los Angeles Times has learned.
Bruce E. Ivins, 62, who for the last 18 years worked at the government’s elite biodefense research laboratories at Ft. Detrick, Md., had been informed of his impending prosecution, said people familiar with Ivins, his suspicious death and the FBI investigation.
Let us not forget those who perished in this act of senselessness.
* Bob Stevens, 63, picture editor of the Sun newspaper
* Thomas Morris Jr, 55, Washington
* Joseph Curseen, 47, Washington
* Kathy Nguyen, 61, worked in a New York hospital
* Ottilie Lundgren, 94, lived in a rural community in Connecticut.
I have to honestly say that I am quite sorry that this man died, I was truly hoping that they would catch whomever did this and he would be placed on trial. I guess he was a coward. There is, I believe, a very hot placed reserve for himā€¦ IN HELL.
Interesting: Did Iraq’s WMD’s end up in Syria and Labanon?
Could be!
This is via WorldNetDaily:
A former American overseer of Iraqi prisons says several dozen inmates who were members of Saddam Hussein’s military and intelligence forces boasted of helping transport weapons of mass destruction to Syria and Lebanon in the three months prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Don Bordenkircher ā€“ who served two years as national director of prison and jail operations in Iraqā€“ told WND that about 40 prisoners he spoke with “boasted of being involved in the transport of WMD warheads to Syria.
A smaller number of prisoners, he said, claimed “they knew the locations of the missile hulls buried in Iraq.”
Some of the inmates, Bordenkircher said, “wanted to trade their information for a release from prison and were amenable to showing the locations.”
The prisoners were members of the Iraqi military or civilians assigned to the Iraqi military, often stationed at munitions facilities, according to Bordenkircher. He said he was told the WMDs were shipped by truck into Syria, and some ended up in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley.
I know, WND is not exactly known for their accuracy, but if this is true. We might have more problems on our hands, than we think.
Excellent Reading: Chuck Baldwin Says.. "Save The Planet? How About Saving The Republic?"
I post these here, because I believe Chuck Baldwin is a honest voice within the Conservative Community.
Save The Planet? How About Saving The Republic?
By Chuck Baldwin
July 30, 2008
This column is archived at
http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2008/cbarchive_20080730.html
Yesterday, the Politico quoted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as saying, "I’m
trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet." She was
responding, of course, to pressure that she and her fellow Democrats are
experiencing to suspend a congressional ban on offshore oil drilling in the
face of skyrocketing energy prices. It would be really wonderful, however,
if the liberal congresswoman could get as energized about saving our once
great republic.
Herein lies another problem: the vast majority of our politicos (from both
major parties) do not even seem to know what kind of country the United
States was designed to be. Virtually every reference made to the United
States by our civil magistrates is that we are a "democracy." That’s odd;
someone should have told our Founding Fathers, because they emphatically
rejected the concept of creating a "democracy" in favor of creating a
constitutional republic.
Has anyone quoted the Pledge of Allegiance lately? Does it say, "And to the
democracy for which it stands"? Or does it say, "And to the republic for
which it stands"? Of course it says "republic."
At the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention, a passerby asked
Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got–a republic or monarchy?"
Franklin replied, "A republic–if you can keep it."
Ladies and Gentlemen, that is the sixty-four million dollar question: Can we
keep our republic? Can we keep our constitutional form of government? Can we
keep our constitutionally protected liberties?
In Federalist No. 10, James Madison ("The Father of the U.S. Constitution")
said, "[D]emocracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention;
have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of
property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been
violent in their deaths."
The fear of what happens to freedom and liberty under democratic rule is
what prompted Madison and the rest of America’s founders to labor so hard to
create what they did: a constitutional republic.
Under God, it is allegiance to the Constitution that has preserved our
liberties, our peace and happiness, our security, and our very way of life.
Furthermore, it is the repudiation and rejection of constitutional
government that is responsible for the manner in which these very same
blessings are currently being lost.
Someone needs to remind Rep. Pelosi that it is not her duty (nor does she
have the power) to "save the planet." And by the same token, someone needs
to remind Senators Barack Obama and John McCain that they are not
campaigning to be President of the World, but President of the United
States.
What every elected officeholder is expected and required to do is very
simple: they are required to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution
of the United States of America. Period. End of story.
Our public servants are not charged with saving the snail darter or the
Spotted Owl, or saving the profits of the international bankers, or saving
Wall Street in general, or saving the perks of corporate lobbyists, or
saving Freddie and Fannie, or saving the peoples of the world from all the
bogeymen, or even saving humankind or the planet itself. What our public
servants are charged with, however, is preserving (saving) our
constitutional republic.
Of course, the problem is, the people who are charged with the preservation
of our republic are the ones who are the most responsible for its
destruction. The American people have far more to fear from Nancy Pelosi,
Barack Obama, and John McCain than they do from any foreign adversary,
because our leaders have proven that they have absolutely no fidelity to the
principles of constitutional government. They have no compunction about
eviscerating the protection of our freedoms, or about abolishing the
vanguard of our liberties. They are Machiavellian, making King George of old
look like a mere amateur.
No, I take that back. It is not our civil magistrates who are most
responsible for the destruction of our republican form of government: it is
"We the people."
At the end of the day, it is the responsibility of the people to govern
themselves. We must be willing to hold our civil magistrates accountable to
the contract they made with us, which is to uphold constitutional
government. It is our duty to "throw off" any system of government that does
not secure our liberties and protect our constitution. And this we have not
done.
Christian pastors and ministers have failed us. The "Religious Right" has
failed us. College professors have failed us. High School teachers have
failed us. Newspaper editors and publishers have failed us. TV news anchors
and reporters have failed us. Parents have failed. Friends have failed. The
two major political parties have failed. As a whole, no one is talking
about, or even thinking about, the loss of constitutional government,
national independence, and sovereignty. Few seem even conscious that this is
taking place.
Worrying about which major party wins a general election is like worrying
about whether Coke or Pepsi sold more soft drinks last month. Pick your
poison. One is just as bad as the other. Neither has any fidelity to the
Constitution or to the principles of liberty, which it represents. Both John
McCain and Barack Obama are enemies to constitutional government. Both are
in the process of sacrificing our national sovereignty to global entities.
Both men lied when they took an oath to preserve and protect the
Constitution. So, why should we care which impostor wins the election?
It is up to the American people to enforce constitutional government. From a
Christian perspective, it is "We the people" who are the "powers that be" in
Romans chapter 13. Under our form of government, the source of authority and
the source of legitimacy reside with "We the people." We are not the slaves
of any king or despot. Our elected leaders are public servants, not private
masters. In a nutshell, they work for us. They are contracted to preserve
our liberties and our way of life. When they fail, they must answer to us.
So, when will the American people pick themselves up by the bootstraps and
start acting like free citizens and stop groveling before these imbecilic
political parties? When will we set this political house in order?
Of course, all of this demands that each of us understands constitutional
government and the principles upon which liberty rests. It also demands that
each of us be prepared to do whatever is our personal duty to preserve this
republic.
Patriotism is more than waving a flag on July 4th, or singing The National
Anthem at a ball game, or wearing a flag lapel pin on Flag Day. For an
American, real patriotism means that we are willing to preserve and protect
our constitutional republic. Remember, Franklin’s answer: "A republic–if
you can keep it."
Nancy Pelosi can talk about saving the planet all she wants to: her duty,
however, is to preserve, protect, and defend the U.S. Constitution. And that
is also the job of every single American citizen. Unfortunately, most of us
are no better at doing our job than Pelosi is at doing hers.
The New York times whines about not having enough graphic war images
You know, I am not a big fan of war myself, But, I couldnā€™t help by think of the utter hypocrisy of the article by the New York Times.
In essence, the New York Times is whining about not having enough graphic pictures of the war in Iraq.
Quoting a Liberal Photo boy in the NYT:
ā€œIt is absolutely censorship,ā€ Mr. Miller said. ā€œI took pictures of something they didnā€™t like, and they removed me. Deciding what I can and cannot document, I donā€™t see a clearer definition of censorship.ā€
This will be continued after the jumpā€¦ (Warning: the rest contains graphic photos, Not safe for kids!)
