The White House gets the Message! President Obama to Block A.I.G. Bonuses

Wow! No sooner than I publish the last entry. This news breaks:

Via Politico.com:

Harnessing public outrage over lavish bonuses for bailed-out executives at insurance giant AIG, President Obama said Monday that he will “pursue every single legal avenue to block these bonuses and make the American taxpayers whole.”

Obama made his forceful remarks at a small-business event at the White House, following a weekend of heavy news coverage of the payments that fueled the populist backlash already building against bailouts for the wealthy.

“This isn’t just a matter of dollars and cents. It’s about our fundamental values,” Obama said.
“All across the country, there are people who work hard and meet their responsibilities every single day, without the benefit of government bailouts or multi-million dollar bonuses,” Obama said. “And all they ask is that everyone, from Main Street to Wall Street to Washington, play by the same rules.”

At one point, he ad-libbed after a cough, “Excuse me, I’m choked up with anger here.”

American International Group has received $173 billion in U.S. bailout funds, making it the largest single recipient. The company has said the bonuses, which came to light over the weekend, were required by contract and can’t be rescinded.

But administration and congressional officials are pursuing indirect ways to recover the roughly $165 million in bonuses.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday called the bonuses “unconscionable.”

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said on NBC’s “Today” show that the bonuses amount to “rewarding incompetence” but acknowledged there might be no way to stop the payments.

“Maybe it’s time to fire some people,” he said. “We can’t keep them from getting bonuses but we can keep them from having their jobs,” he said. “In high school, they wouldn’t have gotten retention [bonuses], they would have gotten detention. … These people may have a right to their bonuses. They don’t have a right to their jobs forever.”

Some Conservatives are not impressed, however, I am extremely happy!  The President has gotten the message. Yeah, I know, he is still doing the bailout crap. But this is a first step, the White House knows that the American people are not happy. The point is, we need to keep up the pressure. This is not a time to quit, this is the time to go into double time pressure, at some point the people in Washington D.C. will get the message.

Good job Tea Party people! 😀

Those pesky populists

Not that there’s anything wrong with that….. 😀

The Story via The Old Grey Lady:

The Obama administration is increasingly concerned about a populist backlash against banks and Wall Street, worried that anger at financial institutions could also end up being directed at Congress and the White House and could complicate President Obama’s agenda.

The administration’s sharp rebuke of the American International Group on Sunday for handing out $165 million in executive bonuses — Lawrence H. Summers, director of the president’s National Economic Council, described it as “outrageous” on “This Week” on ABC — marks the latest effort by the White House to distance itself from abuses that could feed potentially disruptive public anger.

“We’ve got enormous problems that need to be addressed,” David Axelrod, Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, said in an interview. “And it’s hard to address because there’s a lot of anger about the irresponsibility that led us to this point.”

“This has been welling up for a long time,” he said.

Mr. Obama’s aides said any surge of such a sentiment could complicate efforts to win Congressional approval for the additional bailout packages that Mr. Obama has signaled will be necessary to stabilize the banking system.

As it is, there have already been moves in Congress to limit compensation to executives at banks and Wall Street firms that are receiving government help to survive.

Beyond that, a shifting political mood challenges Mr. Obama’s political skills, as he seeks to acknowledge the anger without becoming a target of it. A central question for Mr. Obama is whether his cool style — “in a time of crisis, we cannot afford to govern out of anger,” he said in his address to Congress last month — will prove effective when the country may be feeling more emotional.

[….]

Mr. Obama’s advisers argued that to at least some extent, this was a sentiment they could tap to push through his measures in Congress, including raising taxes on the wealthy. They pointed out that in his speech to Congress, Mr. Obama denounced corporations that “use taxpayer money to pad their paychecks or buy fancy drapes or disappear on a private jet.”

“The president has been very clear about this,” Mr. Axelrod said. “There is reason for anger, but we also have to solve the problem. We need a functioning credit system. That’s our responsibility, and he intends to meet it.”

Still, aides acknowledged the risks of a backlash as Mr. Obama tries to signal that he shares American anger but pushes for more bail-out money for banks and Wall Street.

For all his political skills and his capturing of the nation’s desire for change in the 2008 election, Mr. Obama, a product of Harvard Law School who calls upscale Hyde Park in Chicago home, has shown little inclination to strike a more populist tone. The danger, aides said, is that if he were to become identified as an advocate for the banks and Wall Street, people could take out their anger on him.

“The change now is you have a free-floating economic anxiety that has expressed itself in a kind of lashing out at those being bailed out and people who are bailing out,” Michael Kazin, a professor at Georgetown University who has written extensively on populism. “There’s not really a sense of what the solution is.”

“I do think there’s a potential for a ‘damn everybody in power’ kind of sentiment,” Mr. Kazin said.

Memo to the Tea Party People: It is working my good people! Keep up the protests! Keep up the e-mails and the phone calls and above all, just keep on, keeping on! 😀

For those that wonder what Populism actually is:

Function:
noun
Etymology:
Latin populus the people
Date:
1892
1: a member of a political party claiming to represent the common people ; especially often capitalized : a member of a United States political party formed in 1891 primarily to represent agrarian interests and to advocate the free coinage of silver and government control of monopolies2: a believer in the rights, wisdom, or virtues of the common people
pop·u·lism ?li-z?m noun
pop·u·lis·tic ?pä-py?-?lis-tik adjective

From the Preamble of the United States Constitution:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Join the Glenn Beck 9/12 Project. Remember, we sorround them. Government is controlled, financed, and ordered by “We the people”, not the other way around. The banking cartels do not run this country, we the people do. Stand up, stand up and fight!

….and for what it is worth, Populism is not a Right or Left thing, it is an American thing.

Democrat Actor Turned Conservative Patriot; Ron Silver, has passed

Such a sad buzzkill for the weekend:

Actor and longtime political activist Ron Silver died this morning, succumbing to a long battle with cancer, friends of the liberal Democrat-turned-GOP stalwart told The Post.

“Ron Silver died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him this morning,” said Robin Bronk, executive director of the Creative Coalition, which Silver helped create.

“He had been fighting esophageal cancer for two years and his family is making arrangements for a private service.”

Friends of Silver first told Post columnist Cindy Adams of the native New Yorker’s death.

The steely-eyed, blunt-talking Silver, 62, enjoyed a long career on the stage, TV and in movies, and most recently hosted a public affairs talk show on Sirius satellite radio.

Obama to tax Healthcare

Oh, this is just wonderful…. 🙄

Via the Old Grey Lady:

The Obama administration is signaling to Congress that the president could support taxing some employee health benefits, as several influential lawmakers and many economists favor, to help pay for overhauling the health care system.

The proposal is politically problematic for President Obama, however, since it is similar to one he denounced in the presidential campaign as “the largest middle-class tax increase in history.” Most Americans with insurance get it from their employers, and taxing workers for the benefit is opposed by union leaders and some businesses.

In television advertisements last fall, Mr. Obama criticized his Republican rival for the presidency, Senator John McCain of Arizona, for proposing to tax all employer-provided health benefits. The benefits have long been tax-free, regardless of how generous they are or how much an employee earns. The advertisements did not point out that Mr. McCain, in exchange, wanted to give all families a tax credit to subsidize the purchase of coverage.

At the time, even some Obama supporters said privately that he might come to regret his position if he won the election; in effect, they said, he was potentially giving up an important option to help finance his ambitious health care agenda to reduce medical costs and to expand coverage to the 46 million uninsured Americans. Now that Mr. Obama has begun the health debate, several advisers say that while he will not propose changing the tax-free status of employee health benefits, neither will he oppose it if Congress does so.

At a recent Congressional hearing, Senator Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat whose own health plan would make benefits taxable, asked Peter R. Orszag, the president’s budget director, about the issue. Mr. Orszag replied that it “most firmly should remain on the table.”

The next thing you know, Obama will be taxing Masturbation; by the damned stroke. That will be about the time that I will find the sharpest knife I can find and change my life forever.

(Sorry for the limited posting today. My body clock slipped a spring… and I have been trying get it back on course. I just woke up from a nice nap; hopefully we’re back on track here.)

Seems like meatball Liberal linked to my previous Blog posting and parsed a quote of mine, and then took a line from my “About Me” page to discredit me. Which proves what I have known and seen all along; that when liberals know they are losing the fucking argument, they stoop to personal slander and smears. Ah well, it isn’t all that bad, I could use the traffic. 😀

Anyhow, Kyle Smith over at the post, writes a very funny piece about the so-called Moderate Republicans  who selling out that party; like Magan McCain.  More of this, please. 😛

Memo to Megan McCain: You don’t speak for me, bitch

Michelle Malkin has once again done what the MSM cannot or will not do. Pointed out the hypocrisy of the so-called Communist loving, Liberal-lite Moderate Republicans.

What am I talking about? It appears that Megan McCain thinks this douche nozzle here is cool.

I am going to say what Michelle Malkin is just too damned nice to say……

Pick a fucking side Bitch.

Megan McCain, you’re either with us or you’re against us. You are either on the side of freedom loving Americans like me, who feel that ANY sort of big Government is wrong, or you are on the side of the idiot communist liberal left. Point.fucking.blank.

Either get your god damned fat ass on the side of real true patriotic Americans or get on the side of the socialist left.

…and as I said in my title of this blog entry. You do NOT speak for me, you rich assed, fat, Fake assed Conservative Bitch!

Update: I just wanted to add that while I agree that Laura was dumb for attacking Megan, especially with the weight thing, and I happen to think that Coulter’s schtick is getting old, as do many others, for Megan to go to liberals to decry the “Far right” is just out of bounds in my opinion.

Update #2: Robert Stacy McCain linked to me. Doggone. I feel downright important like. 😛 He’s a good ol’ feller. Even if he does go to Church on the wrong day. 😉 😛 😀

Update #3: For it is worth; I know I called Megan “fat” which I know isn’t true about her. But honestly? I could give a fuck less about it. Because the way I see it; that bitch sold every Conservative and Republican, of EVERY stripe up the river, when she went on Maddow’s show. Maddow is a fucking ultra-Liberal partisan hack and a Keith Olbermann wanna-be, who poses as a Non-Partisan.  The unwritten rule in politics, is that you just DO NOT cross party lines to trash your own party. That is called being a SELL OUT. Quite frankly, now that she’s had her 15 minutes of attention whoredom, I wish she would just disappear.

Update #4: I closed the comments. Because I was tired of the official Megan McCain fan club members; which consist of about 10 guys and a fat girl from Texas, who were coming here leaving their rather stupid inane comments, and I was also tired of reading the self-righteous comments about my language. Two Words, Religious twirps; FUCK OFF. I do what I want. I don’t answer to your cereal box Religion, which has zero to do with Christ, and more to do with men. (and truthfully, little boys, just ask Axel Rose. Believe me, I know all about the sexual misdeeds as well. Been there, did that, almost got it myself. Luckily, the Lord was looking out for his boy.)

Update #5: Looks like little prissy britches went on “The View.”

Mark Steyn on debt to our kids

Mark Steyn on the debt that we’re leaving our Children:

Just between you, me, and the old, the late middle-aged and the early middle-aged: Isn’t it terrific to be able to stick it to the young? I mean, imagine how bad all this economic-type stuff would be if our kids and grandkids hadn’t offered to pick up the tab.

Well, OK, they didn’t exactly "offer" but they did stand around behind Barack Obama at all those campaign rallies helping him look dynamic and telegenic and earnestly chanting hopey-hopey-changey-changey. And "Yes, we can!"

Which is a pretty open-ended commitment.

Are you sure you young folks will be able to pay off this massive Mount Spendmore of multitrillion-dollar debts we’ve piled up on you?

"Yes, we can!"

We thought you’d say that! God bless the youth of America! We of the Greatest Generation, the Boomers and Generation X salute you, the plucky members of the Brokest Generation, the Gloomers and Generation Y, as in "Why the hell did you old coots do this to us?"

via Mark Steyn: Welcome, kids, to the Brokest Generation – Opinion – OCRegister.com.

Now, I realize that Steyn was being snarky. To be fair, much of this debt was brought on, long before Obama ever took office. But Obama sure did not do anything to stop the increase of that debt. In fact, Obama has added to it.

This whole idea of tax the rich, and spend out way out of a recession, is just bad all the way around. Mainly, because we are spending money that we do not even have. We are getting it from China, who is increasingly getting nervous about giving us this money; not to mention, they are becoming more hostile by the day.

So, while I think it is quite fun to blame the Democrats from everything from the weather to my inability to get laid. (Surprised)  Some things you just cannot put on one party or the other; because, quite frankly, both parties have done the dirty of adding to our national debt.

Edward Cline on the far left’s reaction to going galt

It is a rather excellent piece over at capitalist magazine, I’ll quote a little bit of it here; but I do ask that you go read the whole thing:

The nation — indeed, the world — is waking up to the idea that ideas have consequences. One idea is that sacrificing is not a life-enhancing option and will lead to misery or death. Another is that the heedless policy of a spendthrift is not a rational course of action. Another is that adopting the policy of a spendthrift benefits no one but a politician who advocates it as a sound fiscal policy. Envy is not a paying proposition. “Class warfare” in the form of “soaking the rich” to help the poor assures mutual impoverishment. There are so many more altruist and collectivist ideas that are being grasped by millions as a collective prescription for penury and extinction.

The world seems to be emerging from a moral and intellectual coma, perhaps temporarily, perhaps permanently. It is discovering that other ideas have other consequences, as well, ideas that promote life, promote prosperity, promote ambition and personal success, and that they are possible only in political freedom, and that this freedom has been violated, abridged, and nullified by the first set of ideas. True, politics is the last thing to be affected by a philosophical revolution. But one cannot help but be pleased with how startled the collectivists and altruists are now by the knowledge that they have not successfully pulled a fast one on Americans. These Americans have come knocking on the doors of elitists or leaning over the café railings or invading their legislated smoke-free bars and restaurants to ask: What in hell do you think you are doing?

….

One point of this commentary is to reveal the scope of hostility that exists in our culture to individualism, capitalism, freedom, and “the rich” — and to the mind. Another is to prepare those who would argue in defense of those things for the levels of ignorance and species of malice they will encounter, not only in people they might personally engage in argument, but in politicians, academics, and the news media.

The thing to remember is that reason and reality is on our side. Most of our opponents and enemies know it. They are not the ones who need convincing or any kind of rational guidance. Beware especially of the ones who claim it is your duty to convince them. These creatures’ minds are the truly truncated. Let reality be their ultimate persuader.

Focus on those who show genuine interest in answers, and never mind the fools.

Nothing better has ever been spoken. Our nation was founded on the notion that everyone, and Yes, I mean everyone. Could do anything, if they set their minds to it. That capitalism is the spirit of freedom that drives America. This is why I have zero use for the far left, and their vision of turning America into a Socialist; and ultimately, a Communist State.

An excellent read, indeed.

A startling and sobering reminder

It comes from a Magazine’s Blog that I keep in my RSS feeds.

I keep Chronicles Magazine’s Blog in iGoogle, because I like to read traditional Conservative writings. These writings are a welcome alternative to the Neo-Conservative blather that comes from some of the more popular Conservative blogs out there. Although, I will be the first to admit, many Conservative Blogs now are really getting back to their true Conservative roots, now that Obama is in the White House. Some of the blogs, admittedly attack Obama just for the sake of attacking a Democrat, some however, like Lew Rockwell and others like him, attack Obama for legit reasons.

Having said all the above, here’s an entry by Clyde N. Wilson, which makes a very valid and quite sobering point; which only reinforces my feeling that big Government is just not good Government.

Clyde Writes in an entry titled, “It can’t be repeated too often”:

Ruby Ridge.  Your President George H.W. Bush sent a foreign assassin to murder (from hiding) an American woman standing in the door of her own home holding her baby.

Waco.  Your President Clinton sent a military expedition to incinerate children who were unfortunate enough to be in company of adults who had offended the federal police apparatus.

9/11.  Your federal government, with a $30 billion intelligence budget, could not prevent a bunch of  unarmed felaheen (who should not even have been in the country to begin with) from killing over 3,000 people in our economic capital and destroying part of the military headquarters of our vaunted global empire.

Iraq.  Your President Bush Minor lied to justify a failed war of agression.  He sent the forces into an unnecessary war with inadequate equipment, despite a multibillion-dollar “defense” budget, and without a viable plan.

Many American citizens, probably in the thousands, have been murdered and otherwise victimised by illegal aliens because of your presidents’ deliberate decision not to enforce the laws, in order to put the interests of foreign politicians and domestic rich people over the welfare of citizens.

The Supreme Court and the federal bench for more than a half-century now have been dominated by evil people, unscrupulous petty tyrants, who have subverted the Constitution and laws, protected criminals from punishment, interfered in countless matters that are none of their business, overturned solemn decisions of the majority, and placed unjust burdens upon the people.

Nobody has ever been reprimanded (as far as I know), much less fired or punished for the above.

Not only is Clyde right on about this; there are two points can be taken away from the quote above.  That truth is this:

  1. We never really punish our political leaders, some would say because the President is merely a puppet, being controlled by the bank cartels.
  2. Big centralized Government has never been, nor will it ever be, a good thing; it is bound to make screw ups, some small, and some, as presented above, quite large.

The Economist on Coulters sliding book sales

The Economist writes about Ann Coulter’s sinking book sales:

It’s a cultural sea change! Well, alright—it’s a steep decline in the fortunes of one conservative pundit, and one of the reasons for it may be the proliferation of other, angrier, or more specific conservative pundits such as Bernard Goldberg (media-bashing), Michael Savage (xenophobia), and John Ziegler (worship of Sarah Palin). A decade ago, Ms Coulter was the family doctor who made house calls. Now the kids are grown up and they need to see specialists for their needs.

via Colder and Coulter | Democracy in America | Economist.com.

I think also it’s just the plain fact that Coulter’s shtick has worn thin. I mean, getting on TV and dressing like a two dollar whore; all the while promoting Conservative ideas, has just worn thin with many people. Except for maybe her hardcore fans, which, every time she creates another stir, become less and less.

Do not misunderstand me here, Coulter is a pretty woman and quite smart. She would so much prettier, if she covered up and actually used that Cornell Degree brain of hers, for something besides a hat rack and hair holder.

Americans are beginning to see the light on Obama

This could be a good sign….:

It is simply wrong for commentators to continue to focus on President Barack Obama’s high levels of popularity, and to conclude that these are indicative of high levels of public confidence in the work of his administration. Indeed, a detailed look at recent survey data shows that the opposite is most likely true. The American people are coming to express increasingly significant doubts about his initiatives, and most likely support a different agenda and different policies from those that the Obama administration has advanced.

Polling data show that Mr. Obama’s approval rating is dropping and is below where George W. Bush was in an analogous period in 2001. Rasmussen Reports data shows that Mr. Obama’s net presidential approval rating — which is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve — is just six, his lowest rating to date.

[Obama’s Poll Numbers Are Falling to Earth] M.E. Cohen

Overall, Rasmussen Reports shows a 56%-43% approval, with a third strongly disapproving of the president’s performance. This is a substantial degree of polarization so early in the administration. Mr. Obama has lost virtually all of his Republican support and a good part of his Independent support, and the trend is decidedly negative.

A detailed examination of presidential popularity after 50 days on the job similarly demonstrates a substantial drop in presidential approval relative to other elected presidents in the 20th and 21st centuries. The reason for this decline most likely has to do with doubts about the administration’s policies and their impact on peoples’ lives.

via Obama’s Poll Numbers Are Falling to Earth – WSJ.com.

I predict that this is only going to get worse, as Americans see that the “Magic Moonbat” is not the Savior of the world, like everyone seems to believe that he is.

Things are finally beginning to look up. 😀

An Interesting Movie

I post this because I believe that it is interesting. Alex Jones has always struck me as a kook. Someone amongst the “Tin Foil Hat” crowd. However, it is something interesting to watch.

Enjoy…

What do you think? Do you think that there is any truth to this?

On Britney’s Video

I noticed over on HotAir that AllahPundit is tweaking Britney’s New Video for the song, “If U seek Amy”. Which goes a long way to try and make a rather silly play on words to supposedly convey a message.

First up, the said video:

AllahPundit didn’t get this, neither did the people at MTV either; even the Liberal LA Times did not get it! Man, wow.. does a basement dweller like me have to explain to these brain-dead idiots what the video was doing? Good Grief.

Okay, here’s the official Political Byline explanation to the Video. The two bookended clips at the beginning should have given it away. If you move the video to the 2:10 mark. Mute the sound. Watch her come out of the house with the pie in hand. What is the first thing that comes to your mind. Wholesome? Traditional? Family Values? Fox News? Conservative? Republican? Hello?!?!

The video was nothing more, than a tweaking the nose of the Conservative Media which had this silly head exploding reaction to the songs meaning. Especially those over at Fox News, of whom berated her over the song. Which I sort of thought was quite hypocritical, because of the “B roll” Footage of half naked women that Bill O’ Just loves to roll when he gets a scandal involving sex or women.

The Fox News Clip in question:

For the record, I am not much of a Britney Spears fan or anything. Hell, I am 36 years old ya’ll. Brit-Brit’s music is a little out of my age range. Hee hee

Which leads me to my second point. None of this sort of stuff is new, rock (or in Brit’s case, Pop) musicians have been pushing the envelope for years. Take for example, Black Sabbath; especially during the Ozzy era, back in the 1970’s, lyrics some those songs really got many a Fundamentalist Christian’s heart to racing.

Some examples:

Lyrics:

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath

What is this that stands before me?
Figure in black which points at me
Turn around quick, and start to run
Find out I’m the chosen one
Oh nooo!

Big black shape with eyes of fire
Telling people their desire
Satan’s sitting there, he’s smiling
Watches those flames get higher and higher
Oh no, no, please God help me!

Is it the end, my friend?
Satan’s coming ’round the bend
People running ’cause they’re scared
The people better go and beware!
No, no, please, no!

Lyrics:

N.I.B. (Which By the way, stood for Nativity In Black, but was shortened due to negative feedback from the Record label!)

By Black Sabbath

Oh yeah!

Some people say my love cannot be true
Please believe me, my love, and I’ll show you
I will give you those things you thought unreal
The sun, the moon, the stars all bear my seal

Oh yeah!

Follow me now and you will not regret
Leaving the life you led before we met
You are the first to have this love of mine
Forever with me ’till the end of time
Your love for me has just got to be real
Before you know the way I’m going to feel
I’m going to feel
I’m going to feel

Oh yeah!

Now I have you with me, under my power
Our love grows stronger now with every hour
Look into my eyes, you will see who I am
My name is Lucifer, please take my hand

So, the way I see, as an older guy. This is nothing new, at all. I mean, there are some grown men running around that have families, that used to listen to this music above, some own businesses too. So, that whole argument that Brit-Brit is going to cause the social decline in this country is, quite frankly, silly. Truth is, it has been on the decline for years, and I highly doubt this song is going to speed it up or slow it down any. Neither is Fox News.

Although, I must confess the “Ho Ho Hee Hee Ha Ha” in the song was quite funny. Hee hee

Steele-Gate further explored

I have been reading the blog entries on the new Michael Steele Meme, that is now burning up the internet.

This issue has been the very reason, that I have flatly refused to join the Republican Party. Michael Steele was essentially mouthing the Libertarian position on abortion. Which is a woman has the right to do with her body, what she pleases. Which is what I feel. For the record, I believe abortion is murder; however, I find it quite ironic that those who preach and fight for limited Government, insist that the Government control of what a woman does with her body. The Religious Argument is that, ultimately; God is the creator of all Babies/Humans/Life. Which is fine, that argument works within the confines of a Church or Religious setting.  The problem is, that argument does NOT work outside of this setting and those who defend this mindset are borderline fascists, who want to force THEIR belief system down the throats of those who are not necessarily in agreement that there is even a God, at all.

Again, Abortion is a MORAL issue, it should never, ever, ever be a legislative issue. America was settled and founded as a Republic, not as a Theocracy; as what many of these “Pro-Lifers” want American to be.  That Republic paid a homage to the “God”, albeit a rather lame homage, but still it was there. It was never intended to signal that America was a Theocracy, ever.

Abortion, I feel, should have never been legalized in the first place; however, it was. We do not live in a utopain society, laws passed by the SCOTUS are a reflection of Society in General; and we must, as Americans respect those laws, least we fall into the trap of becoming an intolerant or Nazi state.

This issue is a perfect, clear cut, example of why Politics and Religion or Religious views should never, ever be mixed.

Federal agents this morning are searching the office Washington, D.C.’s Chief Technology Officer.

The search of the office at 1 Judiciary Square is part of “an ongoing investigation,” said a spokeswoman for the FBI’s D.C. Field Office, Lindsay Gotwin, said.

She said two men, Yusuf Acar and Sushil Bansal, had been arrested.

Acar is an information security officer who was also, according to online requests for proposals, responsible for contracting. Bansal is listed on the city’s procurement website as the CEO of the Advanced Integrated Technologies Corporation, which was awarded two technology contracts last year worth a total of $350,000.

The Washington Post and WTOP Radio report that the men are being held on bribery charges.

The outgoing Chief Technology Officer, Vivek Kundra, was appointed last week Chief Information Officer by the Obama administration. His last day at the city government office was March 4, a spokeswoman for D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty, Leslie Kershaw, said. He was appointed to the Washington post in 2007, and held it when Bansal’s contract was awarded.

“We know the FBI is over there but that’s all we know,” said a staffer in the D.C. CTO’s office, Mario Field, who was working from a separate location. Another source familiar with the raid said the FBI had sent all staffers other than senior executives home for the day. WTOP reported that agents are searching the 9th and 10th floors of the building.

A White House spokesman had no immediate comment.

More of that Chicago style politics coming to Washington D.C. 🙄

The American people got what they paid for; Well, I should say what the Arab countries paid for. Ever see Obama’s FEC records from the 2008 election? It is stunning.  Not to mention that fact that Obama’s campaign did not have any sort of verification in place to make sure names matched the credit card numbers.  Hell, for all we know Al-Qaeda elected our President!

Bristol Palin Continued

You know, I have to laugh at these Neo-Conservative Apologists over at NRO’s “The Corner”, who want to gloss over the moral failing of the daughter of the worst Vice-President pick that the Republican Party ever made.

Some lady named Lisa Schiffren over there writes:

For all of the high-minded discussion of marriage policy on these pages and elsewhere, to me it looks very late. That train left a while ago. Even Corner readers, who will discuss choosing life vs. abortion, with endless passion, do not get so worked up about marriage. Which is why all I have to say is, “poor girl.”

Uh, Lisa? How about saying something along the lines of this; So much for those so-called moral values that Bristol’s Mom supposedly promotes, not to mention that entire party. How ironic that the Republican Party, the party that almost breaks it’s back to promote morality, almost to the point of attempting to legislate it; picks a woman, who’s daughter cannot even keep herself until marriage!

Does anyone else, besides me, see the irony here? 😮

From the “Who gives two shits?!?!?” stack: Bristol Palin breaks it off with Levi Johnston

Oh Brother, If I want traffic, I have to report this stuff, here goes……

Via People.com:

Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.

The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it’s unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.

Bristol, the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, spoke with FOX News in February and told Greta Van Susteren that she and Levi – who are parents to 2-month-old son, Tripp – expected to get married after they completed high school.

"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."

"I’m not sure what caused [them to break up] – it’s common knowledge," says another source who knows the family.

Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple’s son. Levi’s dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."

Normally, I wouldn’t give two shits about stuff like this, but this right here bothered me:

Mercede told Star: "Bristol’s just crazy. That’s the nicest way I can put it. She and Levi actually broke up a while ago!"

Apparently, Levi is also far from being a hands-on dad. Said Mercede: "Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible for him. She tells him he can’t take the baby to our house because she doesn’t want him around ‘white trash.’ She treats him so badly!"

Hmmmph, Bristol did not think that when she had her fucking legs in the air and was letting Levi ream her 17 year old vagina out.

Typical rich white bitch… Frustrated Turns out Levi was nothing more than a fucking sperm donor. So, much for family values. This will be good fodder for anyone who wants to run against Sarah Palin, if she runs in 2012, which at this point, would be extremely stupid.

…and to think, we almost put that Alaskan freak show in the White House. Whew

The Obligatory Bat Shit Crazy Seymour Hersh posting

Mr. Seymour “Bat Shit Crazy” Hersh is back at it again, this time pandering to the Alex Jones tin foil hat crowd:

Investigative reporter Seymour Hersh dropped a bombshell on Tuesday when he told an audience at the University of Minnesota that the military was running an "executive assassination ring" throughout the Bush years which reported directly to former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The remark came out seemingly inadvertently when Hersh was asked by the moderator of a public discussion of "America’s Constitutional Crisis" whether abuses of executive power, like those which occurred under Richard Nixon, continue to this day.

Hersh replied, "After 9/11, I haven’t written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it. They haven’t been called on it yet."

Hersh then went on to describe a second area of extra-legal operations: the Joint Special Operations Command. "It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently," he explained. "They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. … Congress has no oversight of it."

"It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on," Hersh stated. "Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us.

Seriously. This dude needs to lay off the fucking bong water and the Kool-Aid. I’ve got ten bucks that says he will either on Keith Olbermann’s show tomorrow or Keith will do another one of his “Head Exploding” special comments as to why President Obama should prosecute the Bush Administration and Bush himself, because of this revelation.

I am possibly one of the biggest Bush Administration critics out there, I found much of what Bush did in Iraq to quite stupid, I thought the War in Iraq was inherently wrong. But I do not even buy this line of bullshit. Nice try Hershy! But I am not even buying this stupid line of bat shit craziness! Whenever you recover from talking out of your rather large ass, I might start taking you serious again, until this, enjoy the tin foil hat crown, because believe me, that is where you fucking belong.

On Douthat

Yes, I’ve heard about it. I really do not have anything negative to say about him going to the NYT. Douthat on the other hand, I found to be a bit snobbish. I once sent him an e-mail and never got a response. I suppose that Mr. Douthat, a beltway type; has no time for us amateur basement dwellers. Which is pretty fucking ironic, because that is how this whole blogging thing got started, by a bunch of basement dwellers who decided to start writing about politics; Liberal, Conservative, and yes even Libertarian…. and decided to make our own damned community.

I agree with the fact that Douthat will most likely will do better than David Brooks, and believe that is not saying much at all. Brooks was about a fucking idiot. He was a perfect example of the idiotic mumbling that comes out of the Neo-Conservative circles anymore. Which is why the Harlem globetrotter is in the White House now.

Anyhow, I hope he does well and gets his facts straight, because God-knows the Republican Party needs a image makeover right now.

The Obligatory “Obama’s Staff is staff is sinking him” Posting

Somehow, I knew this was coming…

Via Salon:

Free Barack!

Yes, free the president from his flacks, fixers and goons — his posse of smirky smart alecks and provincial rubes, who were shrewd enough to beat the slow, pompous Clintons in the mano-a-mano primaries but who seem like dazed lost lambs in the brave new world of federal legislation and global statesmanship.

Heads should be rolling at the White House for the embarrassing series of flubs that have overshadowed President Obama’s first seven weeks in office and given the scattered, demoralized Republicans a huge boost toward regrouping and resurrection. (Michelle, please use those fabulous toned arms to butt some heads!)

First it was that chaotic pig rut of a stimulus package, which let House Democrats throw a thousand crazy kitchen sinks into what should have been a focused blueprint for economic recovery. Then it was the stunt of unnerving Wall Street by sending out a shrill duo of slick geeks (Timothy Geithner and Peter Orszag) as the administration’s weirdly adolescent spokesmen on economics. Who could ever have confidence in that sorry pair?

And then there was the fiasco of the ham-handed White House reception for British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, which was evidently lacking the most basic elements of ceremony and protocol. Don’t they read the “Iliad” anymore in the Ivy League? Check that out for the all-important ritual of gift giving, which has cemented alliances around the world for 5,000 years.

President Obama — in whom I still have great hope and confidence — has been ill-served by his advisors and staff. Yes, they have all been blindsided and overwhelmed by the crushing demands of the presidency. But I continue to believe in citizen presidents, who must learn by doing, even in a perilous age of terrorism. Though every novice administration makes blunders and bloopers, its modus operandi should not be a conspiratorial reflex cynicism.

Camille goes on cite the pork stimulus bill, Rush Limbaugh, the Gordon Brown snub, and a bunch of other stuff.  Camille does make a good point; however, I find myself straining to muster any pity for these people. They knew what they were getting when they voted for Obama. They were well aware of his inexperience, his lack of real administrative experience.  Further more, Camille and her follow liberals knew that Obama and this Liberal congress knew that Obama and Nancy Pelosi were big Government socialists. So, why the complaining? I really just don’t get that at all.

I believe this article, in itself, is living proof of what Conservatives have known about Democrats and Liberals for ages, that they, when given the reins; always overreach. They get into power and get excited about having all that raw power and proceed to stumble. It happened during the Carter Administration, During the Johnson Administration, and on and on…

From this point out, two things will happen. Obama will either grab his Administration by the horns and start running a tighter ship, or he will let his Administration run wild and will go down as the biggest buffoon President outside of George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter. I am tending towards the latter myself.

Either way, it is going to be an interesting four years, to say the least.
