Paul Newman has Died

There are many things that I could write about this man. Most of it has already been written by writers who get paid a hell of a lot more money than me. Paul Newman; The name itself evokes images of a rebel. It also conjures up other images; Quality, integrity, Living what you believe, having the guts to stand up for what you believe in and just being a man.

Paul Newman was the real deal, he lived what he believed. He established a camp for children who are on their last dime in life. He knew the pain, he lost one of his own kids to a drug overdose in 1978. This was Newman’s way of making making someone else’s life a little brighter in a time of terrible suffering. Newman answered the call to War in the 1940’s. In short, he was, in fact, a part of the greatest generation ever. I do not believe that it would be an embellishment of truth to say that Newman was, in fact, an FDR Democrat.

I do not claim to be a movie fanatic or someone who watches lots of movies. But the name Paul Newman has always been a part of the actors of whom I highly respect. Unlike some of the people that reside in this thing we call the Blogosphere, I do not go around wearing my damn politics on my sleeve and I do have more respect than some as well. Yes, Paul Newman was, in fact, a Democrat. He was of the old school Democratic Party, before it became enjoined at the hip to Communist Socialism. From that old school came another great actor, who would go on to be one of our greatest Presidents, Ronald Reagan.

Put your gun down Butch and rest a while. God knows, you’ve earned it.

May he rest in peace and my God be with his family.

His List of accomplishments include:

Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio’s backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s.

He released his first solo album in 1967, and his 1969 follow-up, “Hot Buttered Soul,” became a platinum hit.

In 1971, the theme from “Shaft” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and won an Academy Award for best original theme song. The song and the movie score also won Grammy awards for best original score and movie theme.

Hayes won a third Grammy for pop instrumental performance with the title track to his 1972 “Black Moses” album.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

Isaac Hayes music embodied the black experience, Issac asked in his hit tune “Shaft”, “can you dig it?” and to that I simply say, yes, we all dug it, on some sort of a level or another.

I am sure that some asshole White, High-brow, Conservative and some other Conservative Minority will snivel at this man and dismiss him as a Liberal who promoted Identity Politics, But he was about so much more than that.

I, for one, am quite sorry to learn of his passing, an era in music has just ended. 🙁

May he rest in peace.

Politics is one thing, but real life is another. 50 years old is such a young age to die. A talent taken, way too soon. My Prayers and thoughts go out to the family.

Real Smart McCain, Real Smart…

Is the people that are running John McCain’s campaign just terminally stupid or what?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems that the new McCain ad criticizing Obama for being a celebrity has ruffled some unintended feathers. I, for one, quite liked the ad, but I hear whispers from the inner campaign staff that the phone was burning off the hook today with calls from Paris Hilton’s grandfather, William Barron Hilton (co-chair of the Hilton Hotel empire), furious that the McCain ad drew an unflattering comparison between Obama and his own granddaughter.

It seems that the elder Hilton has donated $18,400 to the McCain campaign, and $35,000 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee in the last couple of years. (Paris’s father, Rick Hilton, has given an additional $6,900 to the McCain campaign. Suffice it to say, he’s none too pleased either.)

Honestly, are McCain’s staffers even remotely paying attention? 🙄

I look for this ad to disappear, rather quickly, if McCain has any common sense.

I turned to look over my shoulder to see who had uttered that ridiculous statement.

“Pardon Me?” I squinted at the dark-skinned man who had just interjected himself into my over-coffee conversation with my buddy, Kevin.

“Obama ain’t black.” He said again more matter-of-factly as he walked around the porcelain dividing wall and stood at our table where he could be more active in our conversation.

“My name’s Andree,” he said as he extended his hand. “I couldn’t help but hear what you boys had been discussin’ and I don’t mean to stick my nose in where it don’t belong, but I couldn’t leave without settin’ you straight. Obama ain’t black.”

I looked at Kevin as he shifted nervously in his seat, not sure how to take this visitor to our table.

I will simply say the following, that it is pretty telling when Obama is doing better in White America, out in places where blacks are in rare supply, than he is in the more urban communities.

Comedy Legend George Carlin has passed.

I mentioned this last night on my other Blog, “Chuck’s Place”, But I think it is worth reporting here as well.

Yesterday, a Comedy Legend left us. George Carlin Passed away from Heart Failure.

Carlin, who had a history of heart and drug-dependency problems, died at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT (9 p.m. EDT) after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters.

You know, not to editorialize or anything like that, but George Carlin was just funny, damn funny. Whatever you thought about his politics is irrelevant at this point. 

There were two types of Comedians, one’s who took the high road, and those who just didn’t give a rats ass and did what they wanted. George Carlin was the second type. He broke rules, pushed buttons, general made the entertainment establishment very uncomfortable. He followed Lenny Bruce’s lead. He also ended up in jail, because some fascist pig decided that George’s comedy was too dirty.

George represented what the good majority of America people were thinking, it was just turned up, really, really loud

It is always been said, that the schmucks live forever and the good guys die young. George’s death proves that.

Liberal Blowhard Michael Moore says his next "9/11" is not a sequel.

and…. kicks Barry’s message of Hope, Change, Hope, Change, to the curb….

I blogged about this fat, idiotic, liberal, blowhard before. I will be the first to admit, even back when I first came on the Blogging scene. I did not like Michael Moore, he is, as far as I am concerned, the male version of Ariana Huffington. He is nothing more than an opportunist, he see’s the liberal message as a simple way to make money. The only movie that he made, that he really honestly cared about, was "Roger and Me". That is because his father had gotten laid off from G.M. Truthfully, Michael’s dad got quite the handsome severance package from G.M. (Thanks to the U.A.W.) and moved out of Michigan. So, I really do not know what his problem was. For what it is worth, Roger Simon was the best thing that ever happened to G.M, if he had not come in and made the cuts that he did, General Motors would have went bankrupt. The problem was he did not go far enough and now G.M. is back in the same spot again, although, not quite as bad.

Now as to what Michael Moore said up there in the quote, the reason why Michael Moore has basically decided that "Hope Change" isn’t possible, because he was not able to realize his final goal. That is to turn America’s Healthcare system into a totally socialized healthcare plan. Even Hillary Clinton told the guy that he simply did not know what he was talking about. So, it is pretty obvious that Michael Moore is basically taking his Socialist, Liberal, ball and going home.

Let’s just hope he stays there.

Liberal Filmmaker Michael Moore to make sequel to his smear "9/11" film

In case any of you don’t remember, Liberal filmmaker and general mouth piece of the Communist, Socialist, Liberal movement in America, produced a film called "Fahrenheit 9/11" in which he attempted to lay the blame for the 9/11 terrorist attacks at the feet of President George W. Bush.

He also made a film called "Sicko", No, it wasn’t his autobiography. However, it was basically a Liberal Propaganda film advocating the idea of socialized medicine in this country. Another Communist doctrine and practice.  It is to be noted, this is one of B. Hessian Obama’s friends.

Oprah stumps for Obama, Popularity nose dives….

This is living proof of why it is not smart for celebrities to get involved into Politics.

Oprah’s favorability ratings also remained consistently — and unusually — high. In November 2003, Gallup found that 73 percent of Americans held favorable views about Oprah. Seventy-four percent of Americans reported favorable impressions of Oprah in a January 2007 Gallup/USA Today poll.

And then, seemingly out of nowhere, Oprah announced on CNN’s “Larry King Live” on May 1, 2007, that she would officially endorse her longtime friend Barack Obama for the presidency — the first time she had ever thrown her support behind a political candidate. “I think that my value to him, my support of him, is probably worth more than any check,” Oprah told Larry King. At the time, Oprah did not indicate whether she would campaign for Obama.

Almost instantly, Oprah’s popularity in America plummeted. An August 2007 CBS News poll showed only 61 percent of Americans were favorably disposed to her — a considerable drop of 13 percentage points from a similar survey conducted just seven months prior. An October 2007 Gallup/USA Today poll that showed Oprah with a slightly higher 66 percent favorability still reflected a drop.

Ouch. I guess she must have felt that little jolt in the pocketbook or at least from her producers.

Still, a lesson celebrities may extract is that political endorsements carry the risk of alienating fans, often without the reward of considerably boosting support for the candidate. While celebrities are certainly entitled to express their political beliefs — just like every other American — it is possible that the public prefers high-profile entertainment personalities to stay on the tube and off the stump.

I can understand that, especially if many of her viewers are a-political or not active in Politics, they may have been turned off by the show being turned into a Political infomercial.
