Condoms? There’s an app for that.

Oh nice….:

Finding a free condom in the Big Apple is now a click away.

The city Health Department is unveiling a free iPhone application on Monday – Valentine’s Day – that allows New Yorkers to input an address and find five nearby places to grab a free condom.

“We are trying to reach everyone having sex,” said Monica Sweeney, the agency’s point person for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control. “The younger generation uses their iPhone and we want to make it convenient for them to access condoms.”

Since Valentine’s Day often inspires couples to get frisky, it was a fitting launch date, officials said. “A lot of people’s minds turn to matters of the heart on Valentine’s Day and matters of the heart often lead to matters of the body, so we think a lot of people use them that day,” Sweeney said.

New Yorkers can also download the application on the Android or go to www.nyc.gov/health and type in their zip code to find locations with free NYC Condoms. They’re available at many community centers, health clinics, neighborhood stores – even tattoo parlors and barber shops. With the aid of GPS, the app will give walking, driving and subway directions to the site.

Oh wonderful, let’s just encourage teens to screw before marriage, why don’t we? 🙄

….and now for the politically incorrect comment of the day….:

On the other hand; it brings a whole new meaning to the saying, “Dickin’ around with the phone…” 😮 😉 😛 😀 😆

Oh Great: Muslim Brotherhood applies for Political Party Status in Egypt

First the Video:

The Story via CNN: (H/T The Gateway Pundit)

Egypt’s banned Muslim Brotherhood will apply to become a political party, it announced Tuesday.

The Brotherhood “envisions the establishment of a democratic, civil state that draws on universal measures of freedom and justice, with central Islamic values serving all Egyptians regardless of colour, creed, political trend or religion,” it said in the statement.

Although officially illegal, the Muslim Brotherhood is regarded as one of the most organized groups in Egypt.

As Jim Hoft does rightly point out; The Muslim Brotherhood does want Sharia Law in Egypt and everywhere else in the World. The question is, will they get it? Some say that it is highly doubtful this would actually happen, and some say yes, it could in fact happen. The truth is, nobody really knows; which has Conservatives and the truth be told; everyone in the Pentagon, The White House, and in many Governments in the Arabian peninsula — not to mention Israel.

Noted Evangelical turned Apostate says Gay Marriage is just fine

This is unreal…

Via some gay Magazine that I would never directly link to, we have this: (H/T WorldNetDaily)

In a cover story for gay glossy The Advocate, Rev. Ted Haggard now says he favors gay marriage.

Ted Haggard - Likes his little boys smooth -- What a waste of human life!

Haggard is the evangelical pastor who ran afoul of his Denver congregation after admitting to a three-year pay-for-sex affair with male prostitute Mike Jones. Immediately after Jones reveled their sexual association in 2006, Haggard denied being gay, saying only that he had committed “sexual immorality.” Since that time, Haggard has said he’s undergone intensive counseling. On February 6, 2007, Tim Ralph pronounced Haggard “cured,” adding that Haggard is “completely heterosexual.”

The married father of five says everyone – including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people – is welcome at his church, St. James in Colorado Springs.

Haggard supported the 2006 ballot question that placed a gay marriage ban in Colorado’s Constitution, but he now says he favors allowing gay couples to marry.

“The word marriage is a big deal to people of faith,” Haggard told the magazine. “We’ve made it sacred. That’s why I believe that churches, synagogues, mosques and temples should have total freedom to have whatever types of unions they believe is godly.”

“But I think that we as a democratic society, as a constitutional republic – if we don’t respect individual civil liberties, then we’re making a horrific mistake. The church is in the early stages of another ‘the Earth is flat’ crisis. I say to all religious people that we should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry on the subject. Or we’re going to be embarrassed in another 10 or 20 years,” he added.

Haggard, however, has previously said no gay or lesbian couples will be allowed to marry in his church.

I remember hearing about this phony years ago and thinking that something was up with him. He was just too perfect; if you know what I mean. The truth is that the Bible says that the homosexual lifestyle is a sin and those to practice it will not see God.  See here if you have a problem with that.

My simple question is this; when will the Christian community finally take a stand and say, “Homosexuality is wrong and those who advocate it are apostates!” When?!!

Of course, because I am a realist; I know that this will never happen. Evangelicals never take the tough stands, they never have, it is not in their DNA. They always take the path of least resistance; they always have, since the days of their founding.  It is a sad fact, but the truth is that only the Fundamentalists like myself; are the only ones who dare to take the stand against such apostasy — and we have paid a horrible price for it too. Sadly today, many of the old institutions of old Fundamentalism in the Detroit area have either sold out to modernism or stand half empty. That is because people just do not want to hear the truth anymore. They want their ears tickled:

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. (2 Timothy 4:1-5 KJV)

Even so, Come, Lord Jesus.

“The Donald” shoots his mouth off, pisses off Neo-Cons

The Video: (H/T The Gateway Pundit)

“The Donald” says:

“I was not a fan of Bush 2 because what happened. He gave us Obama. He did so poorly that he gave us Obama. He got us into a war that we shouldn’t be in that is now the longest running war in the history of the country. The country has been drained of its assets because of it and amazingly Obama is carrying forward and he’s become a warmonger that is even worse than Bush.”

Jim Hoft points out:

Hmm… Let’s see. America’s longest war is the one in Afghanistan. Does Donald Trump really think we should not have attacked Afghanistan? Only Code Pink at the time thought we should not attack Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

And, for future reference…
Obama and Pelosi blew more money on their failed stimulus than George Bush did in ridding the world of Saddam Hussein and bringing democracy to Iraq.

It wasn’t the Iraq War that broke the bank.

The CBO reported that the total cost of the eight-year war was less than the stimulus bill passed by the Democratic-led Congress in 2009 – via FOX News.

If The Donald wants to be taken seriously as a presidential contender he better stop getting his news from the mainstream media.

Looks like “The Donald” needs to polish those talking points just a bit; and possibly stop reading press releases from the Campaign for Liberty website. If he ever wants to appeal to the Neo-Conservative establishment. Just a thought.

Pat Buchanan Asks, “Will Multiculturalism End Europe?”

One of the greatest Conservatives ever to walk this planet says:

Devout Muslims do not believe all religions are equal. They believe there is one God, Allah, and submission to his law is the path to paradise. They do not believe in freedom of speech and the press if it means mocking the Prophet. They do not believe in Western dress codes or mixing men and women in schools and sports. They do not believe all lifestyles are equal. Some think adulterers should be stoned and honor killings are justified for girls who disgrace the family.

They wish to live their faith and their culture in our countries, to live alongside us but to dwell apart.

“If you come to France,” said Sarkozy last week, “you accept to melt into a single community, which is the national community, and if you do not want to accept that, you cannot be welcome in France.”

A little late for that. Some 5 million to 8 million Arabs and Muslims are in France, their birth rate is higher, and more are on the way.

The real questions: Whose idea was it to bring these people in? And what do France, Britain and Germany do if they say: This is a democracy, we will live as we wish to live, according to our beliefs, not yours.

How does a liberal, permissive society that celebrates diversity impose its values on a militant immigrant minority that rejects them?

Answer: It doesn’t. All the rest is chatter.

This is what James Burnham meant when he wrote that liberalism is the ideology of Western suicide.

Amen to that; if we do not wake up and realize that radical Muslims and some cases Muslims in general do not wish to intermingle with we Christians, but rather wish to destroy we Christians and our free capitalist system; it will one day be the death of us. Liberal Progressives and radical Muslims have one thing in common. They want to destroy America and it’s Christian values and it’s capitalistic system.

However, if says such things, he is reviled among the Blogosphere and called a bigot and a racist. These things comes with the territory. Also, something else I feel the need to say; because there are actually people stupid enough to say this; and believe me, blogging for six years brings experience with dealing with idiots, such as these here —  these people will say, “Well, I thought you said this?:

Not only that but as that  little cartoon on my “About This Blog” page says; whenever someone tries to preach disunity, through class warfare, race hatred or Religious intolerance — they seek to rob us of the one founding thing that this Country was founded upon — Freedom

To those people I say, I did say that and I totally stand behind it. However, I will point out to the unwashed masses of liberalism, that just happen to pass by the little blog of mine; that pointing out that fact that Muslims, especially of the radical sort, want to take away our religious freedoms and put all Americans under Sharia Law; that is not racist to mention that, that is simply stating the truth about Islamofacists. Now there are some, like th author quoted above, that believe that ALL Muslims are this way. I personally have not seen that here in America just yet. It is one thing to want that; it is another to be actually able to do such a thing.

So far, when Muslims have tried treading on American values, such as in our schools and so forth; they have been met with much resistance. Hopefully this continues.

Blogging to begin shortly…

But first, I have to read my Bible….

Actually, I have to read twice as much — I skipped yesterday. So, I’ll be along shortly.

Some things are more important than blogging and this is one of them.

For the weirdos who do not believe in a God, I pity you. I also will explain that if I do not do this on a daily basis; my attitude on this blog will come that of a dirty old sock.

I will return when I finish.

Sorry White Nationalists

But, I am not going to allow people from that forum, that I will not link to here in a blog entry; to come to my site and leave sock puppet comments — especially when the IP addresses on the comments are the same as the man who came and tried to argue with me.

I swear, those people are just straight up vermin and those actions prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt with me. 😡

Video: Young CPAC attendees send career racist jerk running for his car

I do believe that I hit a nerve!

President Barack Obama loses Andrew Sullivan??!?!?!?!?

He might as well have lost Walter Cronkite!

The Thrill is Gone for Sully!

But the core challenge of this time is not the cost of discretionary spending. Obama knows this; everyone knows this. The crisis is the cost of future entitlements and defense, about which Obama proposes nothing. Yes, there’s some blather. But Obama will not risk in any way any vulnerability on taxes to his right or entitlement spending to his left. He convened a deficit commission in order to throw it in the trash. If I were Alan Simpson or Erskine Bowles, I’d feel duped. And they were duped. All of us who took Obama’s pitch as fiscally responsible were duped.

The cynical political calculation is obvious and it is well put by Yglesias and Sprung. If Obama backs Bowles-Simpson, the GOP will savage him for the tax hikes, while also scaring the wits out of the elderly on Medicare. The Democratic left – just look at HuffPo today – will have a cow. Indeed, if Obama backs anything, the GOP will automatically oppose him. He has to wait for a bipartisan agreement which he can then gently push ahead. But that’s exactly why we are in this situation today. Because no president has had the balls to deal with it, and George W. Bush made it all insanely worse. Sprung says the proposal on corporate taxes is a trial balloon

via Obama To The Next Generation: Screw You, Suckers – The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan.

I will not really get into all this; all I know is, we are in a crap load of debt, which is more then out entire Gross Domestic Product.  Now, like some Right-Wing blogs, I am not going to sit here, like a chump and tell you it is all the Democrats fault. The truth is both parties are guilty of this nonsense of spending money we do not have; and now both parties are acting like total buffoons, instead actually trying to get it down. Which is not totally surprising.

However, I do find it mildly amusing that the same blogger, who was essentially Barack Obama’s poodle dog during the 2008 election cycle is now the first blogger to come out swinging against him.  Which proves my theory entirely of the fact that liberals, which is what Sully is, not a Conservative; are just not much loyal to the one’s that they elect. My opinion? Sure, that is what I do here. However, based upon what I have been seeing in the left wing media in this day and age; my opinion not that very far off.

Having said all of that….. CUE THE MUSIC! HIT IT B.B.!

Uh Oh: WMD’s found in the United States?

This does not sound good at all…

First the video:

The Story via The Daily Mail in the UK:

A port official has admitted that a ‘weapon of mass effect’  has been found by ‘partner agencies’ in the U.S., raising major questions over a possible government cover-up.

The disturbing revelation came in an interview with San Diego’s assistant port director screened by a television channel in the city.

The Customs and Border Protection Department tried to dampen speculation over his remarks, but doubts remained over whether he had inadvertently revealed a dirty bomb plot to attack the U.S. mainland.

Concern over a secret WMD bust came after U.S. cables made public by the Wikileaks whistleblower website revealed terror groups were plotting a ‘nuclear 911.’

In the interview screened by San Diego’s 10News, Al Hallor, assistant San Diego port director, said ‘weapons of mass effect’ had been found, although he did not specify exactly where or what they were.

Reporter Mitch Blacher asked Mr Hallor: ‘Do you ever find things that are dangerous like a chemical agent or a weaponised device?’

‘At the airport, seaport, at our port of entry we have not this past fiscal year, but our partner agencies have found those things,’ the customs official replied.

‘So, specifically, you’re looking for the dirty bomb? You’re looking for the nuclear device?’ asked Mr Blacher.

‘Correct. Weapons of mass effect,’ said Mr Hallor.

‘You ever found one?’ asked Mr Blacher.

‘Not at this location,’ Mr Hallor said.

‘But they have found them?’ asked Mr Blacher.

‘Yes,’ said Mr Hallor.

‘You never found one in San Diego though?’ Mr Blacher asked.

‘I would say at the port of San Diego we have not,’ Mr Hallor said.

‘Have you found one in San Diego?’ Mr Blacher asked.

The interview was then interrupted and cut short by a public relations official before Mr Hallor was able to answer the question.

San Diego’s Customs and Border Protection agency was unavailable for comment today.

All of the other Conservatives blogs are saying this guy will lose his job. I doubt that; but my real concern is that they have found WMD’s in this Country. It looks like the whole canard that is touted by the Paleo-Conservatives and the Paul nuts and the liberal left that the War on Terror is a Government invention is a load of bunk.

I may not agree with interventionist foreign policy, but I do agree with protecting the homeland; I am grateful that our homeland security officers have caught this stuff coming in. Hopefully, they will continue to be successful in catching this stuff, before it is too late.

Speaking of Racism: The Sons of Confederate Veterans want Mississippi to issue a specialty plate honoring the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan

This one is for the “Ugh” file… Via MSNBC:

The Sons of Confederate Veterans proposed that Mississippi issue a specialty plate honoring General Nathan Bedford Forrest, who many historians say was the first Grand

Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, the white supremacist group that terrorized blacks in the South after the Civil War.

Forrest is the only individual they want to commemorate. All the other plates would be in remembrance of battles that took place in Mississippi or Confederate veterans as a whole.

The proposal must be approved by the state legislature and signed by Gov. Haley Barbour.

Needless to say, the NAACP, rightfully so, is not too happy about this:

(CNN) — The Mississippi NAACP has called on Governor Haley Barbour to publicly denounce an attempt by a Confederacy group to honor a Ku Klux Klan leader, the organization said Monday.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans has launched the campaign to recognize Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest on a specialty license plate.

Forrest, a popular and controversial figure, is best known as a leader of the KKK, the white supremacist group known for terrorizing blacks in the South after the Civil War.

He is also praised and criticized for an 1864 raid at Fort Pillow, Tennessee, where hundreds of black Union Army members were killed during the war. The controversy over whether Forrest conducted or condoned the massacre is still a matter for heated debate.

Mississippi NAACP leaders feel a state-sanctioned license plate honoring a man with ties to the KKK sends the wrong message to people in the state and across the country.

“Any individual who was a traitor to our country and our Constitution should be treated as such,” said Derrick Johnson, president of the state NAACP chapter.

Forrest was a “terrorist” whose acts were “immoral and unconstitutional,” Johnson said. Honoring him or anyone who promoted racial hatred or violence would be offensive, he said.

The NAACP isn’t alone in its protest against the SCV. More than 1,700 Mississippians have joined a Facebook group called Mississippians Against The Commemoration Of Grand Wizard Nathan Forrest.

The group’s website says they “are united in sending a message to the state government of Mississippi that WE WILL NOT STAND for the public glorification of one of the original leaders of the Ku Klux Klan.”

The proposal by the Sons of Confederate Veterans seeks to honor Confederate generals.

“If we can’t hold him up to where he’s supposed to be, then nobody else is gonna do it,” group member Greg Stewart said. Forrest is being “unfairly maligned,” he told CNN.

Most historians agree that Forrest left the KKK after less than two years because the small pockets of groups were growing rapidly, were unorganized and violent.

Forrest felt “they had the right idea, but went about it the wrong way,” said Mike Martinez, a part-time political science instructor at Kennesaw State University. Despite his short stint with the Klan, Martinez said Forrest’s affiliation with the organization gave it credibility.

Stewart said Forrest was chosen to be recognized not because of his time with the KKK, but for his spirit and leadership during the Civil War.

His image is one in a series of five that will have to be approved on a year-by-year basis by the state legislature, Stewart said.

Other Confederacy symbols to be used on license plates are Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library, the battle for Vicksburg, the battle of Shiloh and Confederate soldiers.

“unfairly maligned” by ass. The man was racist and should be remembered as so. Screw him and rest of those damned racist assholes. Like this guy here. 😡

I do believe that I hit a nerve!

I guess my posting about the career racist getting told to hit the road by the young CPAC’ers has hit a nerve!

Video: Young CPAC attendees send career racist jerk running for his car

The man’s name is Jamie Kelso and you can read all about this bigot here.  I find these people to be most detesting, as it says on my newly minted “about me” page. I grew up in a multicultural environment and these people just offend me to the high heavens. Not only that but as that little cartoon on my “About This Blog” page says; whenever someone tries to preach disunity, through class warfare, race hatred or Religious intolerance — they seek to rob us of the one founding thing that this Country was founded upon — Freedom.

This is not to say that I do not believe that identity politics is an issue; I really do believe that. However, my modus operandi is not about race hatred, my modus operandi is simply about hating liberalism, Progressivism, and Marxism. (but then again, I do repeat myself there, three times! 😛 )  Anytime you attempt to take from those who have, and give it to those who did not work a damned day for it — you are pitting classes of people against one another.  You see, I used to believe that populism was an pro-American belief; and at time some point, it might have been. However, I believe the pro-American thought process evaporated and now an anti-capitalist, anti-rich, anti-prosperity mentality has taken over those ranks. Which is, as far as this writer is concerned, anti-American.   The problem is, the populists began to think that the only way to get what they wanted and that was help for their farms; was to infiltrate the Government. This was a very flawed mentality. Further more, Populists believe that big business is the enemy of the people. I am afraid that I was very wrong about that, as were the populist. Big business is NOT the enemy of the people — big Government is the enemy of the people —  as is Progressivism.

Here is the video, which comes with a Hat Tip to Ed Morrissey:

Also, I believe I should mention this; I am not totally oblivious to the fact there are Anti-Semite and Racist elements to the Paleo-Conservative movement. Believe me, I know all about them. The only reason they have been allowed to fester in our circles, is because no one has had the courage to stand up and denounce them. I will admit, there are some in Paleo-Conservative circles who justify and even approve of such idiotic stuff. I am not one of them. 😡

Quotes of the Day

“The United States is in a time of economic crisis, but this is no excuse to abandon the principles that have built this great country and spread its ideals to the darkest recesses of the planet. The United States is the world’s leader–a beacon of light for the wretched and the oppressed. God has blessed the United States with liberty and the strength and heart to spread that liberty to all of his children. Rep. Paul has abandoned this mission, abandoned the United States’ citizens, and abandoned the citizens of the world in their quest for their God-given natural rights.”

**************

Lew, is it a mere coincidence that the very weekend that Ron Paul overwhelmingly wins the CPAC presidential straw poll with the vigorous and strong support from young people dedicated to individual liberty, the rule of law, and a non-interventionist foreign policy, that YAF would expel him from their advisory board? Murray Rothbard had this Ancient Order of Buckleyite Neocons pegged decades ago.

**************

This open letter is addressed to the libertarians attending the YAF national convention in St. Louis this Labor Day weekend. Notice I said the 1ibertarians in YAF; I have nothing to say to the so-called “traditionalists” (a misnomer, by the way, for we libertarians have our traditions too, and they are glorious ones. It all depends on which traditions: the libertarian ones of Paine and Price, of Cobden and Thoreau, or the authoritarian ones of Torquemada and Burke and Metternich.) Let us leave the authoritarians to their Edmund Burkes and their Crowns of St. Something-or-other. We have more serious matters to discuss.

In the famous words of Jimmy Durante: “Have ya ever had the feelin’ that ya wanted to go, and yet ya had the feelin’ that ya wanted to stay?” This letter is a plea that you use the occasion of the public forum of the YAF convention to go, to split, to leave the conservative movement where it belongs: in the hands of the St. Something-or-others, and where it is going to stay regardless of what action you take. Leave the house of your false friends, for they are your enemies.

For years you have taken your political advice and much of your line from assorted “exes”: ex-Communists, ex-Trots, ex-Maoists, ex-fellow-travellers. I have never been any of these. I grew up a right-winger, and became more intensely a libertarian rightist as I grew older. How come I am an exile from the Right-wing, while the conservative movement is being run by a gaggle of ex-Communists and monarchists? What kind of a conservative movement is this? This kind: one that you have no business being in. I got out of the Right-wing not because I ceased believing in liberty, but because being a libertarian above all, I came to see that the Right-wing specialized in cloaking its authoritarian and neo-fascist policies in the honeyed words of libertarian rhetoric. They need you for their libertarian cover; stop providing it for them!

You can see for yourselves that you have nothing in common with the frank theocrats, the worshippers of monarchy, the hawkers after a New Inquisition, the Bozells and the Wilhelmsens. Yet you continue in harness with them. Why? Because of the siren songs of the so-called “fusionists” – the Meyers and Buckleys and Evanses – who claim to be integrating and synthesizing the best of “tradition” and liberty. And even if you don’t quite believe in the synthesis, the existence of these “centrists” as the leaders of the Right gives you the false sense of security that you can join a united front under their aegis. It is for that very reason that the fusionists, those misleaders, are the most dangerous of all – much more so than the frank and open worshippers of the Crown of St. Wenceslas.

For note what the fusionists are saying behind their seemingly libertarian rhetoric. The only liberty they are willing to grant is a liberty within “tradition,” within “order,” in other words a weak and puny false imitation of liberty within a framework dictated by the State apparatus. Let us consider the typically YAFite-fusionist position on various critical issues. Surely, you might say, the fusionists are in favor of a free-market economy. But are they indeed? The fusionists, for example, favor the outlawry of marijuana and other drugs – after some hemming and hawing, of course, and much hogwash about “community responsibility,” values and the ontological order – but outlawry just the same. Every time some kid is busted for pot-smoking you can pin much of the responsibility on the Conservative Movement and its fusionist-Buckleyite misleaders.

So what kind of a free market position is one that favors the outlawry of marijuana? Where is the private property right to grow, purchase, exchange, and use? Alright, so you know the Right-wing is very bad on questions of compulsory morality. But what about the hundreds of billions of dollars siphoned off from the producers and taxpayers to build up the power of the State’s overkill military machine?

And what of the state monopoly military-industrial complex that the system has spawned? What kind of a free market is that? Recently, National Review emitted its typical patrician scorn against leftist carpers who dared to criticize the space moondoggle. $24 billion of taxpayers’ money of precious resources that could have been used on earth, have been poured into the purely and totally collectivistic moondoggle program. And now our Conservative Hero, Vice-President Agnew, wants us to proceed on to Mars, at Lord knows what multiple of the cost. This is a free-market? Poor Bastiat and Cobden must be turning over in their graves!

What has YAF, in its action programs, ever done on behalf of the free market? Its only action related to the free market has been to oppose it, to call for embargoes on Polish hams and other products from Eastern Europe. What kind of a free-market program is that?

YAF, the fusionists, and the Right-wing generally, have led the parade, in happy tandem with their supposed enemies the liberals, in supporting the Cold War and various hot wars against Communist movements abroad. This global crusading against the heathen is a total reversal of the Old “isolationist” Right-wing of my youth, the Right-wing that scorned foreign intervention and “globaloney,” and attacked these adventures as statist imperialism while the Nation and the New Republic and other liberals were berating these Rightists as tools of the Kremlin.

But now your Right-wing leaders embrace every socialist, every leftist with a 100% ADA voting record, every Sidney Hook and Paul Douglas and Thomas Dodd, just so long as they stand ready to incinerate the world rather than suffer one Communist to live. What kind of a libertarian policy, what kind even of “fusionist” policy is it that justifies the slaughter of tens of thousands of American soldiers, of hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese peasants, for the sake of bringing Christianity to the heathen by sword and brimstone? I can understand why the authoritarians applaud all this, they who would like nothing more than the return of Cotton Mather or Torquemada. But what are you doing supporting them?

Surely every libertarian supports civil liberties, the corollary and complement of private property rights and the free-market economy. Where does the Right-wing stand on civil liberties? You know all too well. Communists, of course, have to be slaughtered or rounded up in detention camps. Being “agents of the Devil,” they are no longer human and therefore have no rights. Is that it?

But it is not only on the Communist question where the conservatives are despots; don’t think this is just one flaw in their armor. For in recent years, American politics has instructively begun to focus on very crucial issues – on the nature of the State and on State coercion itself. Thus, the cops. The cops, with their monopoly of coercion and their overwhelming superiority of arms, tend to brutalize, club, and torture confessions from people who are either innocent or have not been proven guilty. What has been the attitude of the Right-wing, and your fusionist leaders, toward this systematic brutality, or toward the libertarian decisions of the Warren Court that have put up protections for the individual rights of the accused? You know very well. They hate the Warren Court almost as much as they do Reds, for “coddling criminals,” and the cry goes up everywhere for all power to the police. What can be more profoundly statist, despotic, and anti-libertarian than that?

When Mayor Daley’s cops clubbed and gassed their way through Chicago last year against unarmed demonstrators, the only libertarian reaction was to revile Daley and the cops and to support the rights of the demonstrators. But your fusionist leaders loved and applauded Daley, with his “manly will to govern,” and the brutality unleashed by his cop goons. And take the massacre at People’s Park at Berkeley this year, when one unarmed bystander was killed, and hundreds wounded, and thousands gassed by the armed constabulary for the crime of trying to remain in a park which they had built with their own hands on a state-owned muddy lot. Yet your “fusionists” denounced People’s Park and hailed Reagan and the cops.

And then there is the draft – that obnoxious system of slavery and forced murder. There is nothing anyone even remotely calling himself a libertarian can say about the draft except that it is slavery and that it must be combatted. And yet how namby-pamby YAF has been on the draft, how ambiguous and tangled the fusionist leaders become when they approach the subject? Even those who reject the draft do so only apologetically, and only on the grounds that we could have a more efficient army if it were volunteer. But the real issue is moral. The issue is not to build up a more efficient group of hired killers for the U. S. government; the issue is to oppose slavery as an absolute moral evil. And this no fusionist or Rightist has even considered doing. And even those who reject the draft as inefficient love the army itself, with its hierarchical despotism, its aggressive violence, its unthinking obedience. What sort of “libertarians” are these?

And what of the nation’s educational system in which so many of you have been enmeshed? For years, I heard your fusionist leaders condemn in toto, the American educational system as coercive and statist, and, when in their cups and heedless of their political status, even call for abolition of the public school system. Fine! So what happens when, in the last few years, we have seen a dedicated and determined movement to smash this system – to return control to the parents, as in Ocean Hill-Brownsville in Brooklyn, and take it from the entrenched educationists – or, as with SDS and the colleges, to overthrow the educational rule of the government and the military-industrial complex?

Shouldn’t the fusionists have hailed and come to the support of these educational opposition movements? But instead, they have called on the cops to suppress them.

Here is surely an acid test of the fusionists’ alleged love of liberty. Liberty goes by the board as soon as their precious “order” is threatened, and “order” means, simply, State dictation and State-controlled property. Is that what libertarians are to end up doing – fronting for despots and apologists for “law ’n’ order”? Our stand should be on the other side – with the people, with the citizenry, and against the State and its hired goon squads. And yet YAF’s central theme this year is its boasting about inventing tactics to call in the judges, call in the cops, to suppress SDS opposition – opposition to what? To the State’s gigantic factory for brainwashing? What are you doing on the barricades defending the State’s indoctrination centers?

It’s pretty clear, or should be by now, what they’re doing there, the fusionists. They’re right where they belong, doing their job – the job of apologists for the State using libertarian rhetoric as their cloak. And since, in recent years, they have snuggled close to Power, these apologetics have become more and more blatant. Fifteen, twenty years ago, the “libertarian-conservatives” used to hail Thoreau and the idea of civil disobedience against unjust laws. But now, now that civil disobedience has become an actual living movement, Thoreau is only heard on the New Left, while the Right, even the “libertarian” or fusionist Right, talk only of law-n-order, suppression and the bayonet, defense of State power by any and all means necessary.

You don’t belong with these deceivers on the political make. I plead with you to leave YAF now, for you should know by now that there is no hope of your ever capturing it. It is as dictatorial, as oligarchic, as close to fascism in structure as is so much of the content of YAF’s program.

There is no way that you can overthrow the Jones-Teague clique, for this clique is entrenched in power. And behind this clique lie the fusionist gurus: the Buckleys, and Rushers, and Meyers. And behind them lie the real power in YAF – the moneybags, the wealthy business men who finance and therefore run the organization, the same moneybags who reacted hard a few years ago when some of your leaders decided to take a strong stand against the draft.

When YAF was founded, on the Buckley estate at Sharon, Connecticut, there was heavy sentiment among the founders against the title, because, they said, “freedom is a left-wing word.” But the “fusionists” won out, and freedom was included in the title. In retrospect, it is clear that this was a shame, because all that happened was that the precious word “freedom” came to be used as an Orwellian cloak for its very opposite. Why don’t you leave now, and let the “F” in YAF stand then for what it has secretly stood for all along – “fascism”?

Why don’t you get out, form your own organization, breathe the clean air of freedom, and then take your stand, proudly and squarely, not with the despotism of the power elite and the government of the United States, but with the rising movement in opposition to that government? Then you will be libertarians indeed, in act as well as in theory. What hangover, what remnant of devotion to the monster State, is holding you back? Come join us, come realize that to break once and for all with statism is to break once and for all with the Right-wing. We stand ready to welcome you.

The Sunday Afternoon Mental Health Break: Jimi Hendrix

This afternoon’s mental health break is going be just a wee bit different.

As some of you might have heard; The Young Americans for Freedom sold Representative Ron Paul up the river. Over a bastardy thing, called War.

As I have repeatedly stated on this blog, that I am not against war it itself, as I do believe in America protecting itself from outside invaders and those who would wish do us harm. However, what I am against — is unjustified war or as it is commonly known as, interventionist foreign policy. This policy is the hallmark of the Neo-Conservative line of thought. It seems that the Neo-Conservatives have taken over the Ronald Reagan inspired The Young Americans for Freedom.

So, today; I dedicate the follow videos to Ron Paul and the campaign for liberty group.

I leave you all with this quote; this is something to think about, very strongly.

A true revolution of values will lay hands on the world order and say of war: “This way of settling differences is not just.” This business of burning human beings with napalm, of filling our nation’s homes with orphans and widows, of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into veins of people normally humane, of sending men home from dark and bloody battlefields physically handicapped and psychologically deranged, cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice and love. A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death. — Martin Luther King Jr. — From “Beyond Vietnam,” April 4, 1967, Riverside Church, New York City

The truth is, that 90% of those who advocate war — will not fight in it, at all.  Because, the truth is, until about 1964 and afterwards —- Conservatives were, in fact, very anti-war.

Enjoy the videos and your Sunday.

Hope and Change?: FBI doesn’t need court’s OK to get phone records, Obama’s Justice Department claims

Well, isn’t this just a lovely story to pick up on a Sunday Morning?

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration’s Justice Department has asserted that the FBI can obtain telephone records of international calls made from the United States without any formal legal process or court oversight, according to a document obtained by McClatchy.

That assertion was revealed by the department – perhaps inadvertently – in its response to a McClatchy request for a copy of a secret Justice Department memo.

Critics say the legal position is flawed and creates a potential loophole that could lead to a repeat of FBI abuses that were supposed to have been stopped in 2006.

The controversy is a legacy of the Bush administration’s war on terror. Critics say the Obama administration appears to be continuing many of the most controversial tactics of that strategy, including the assertion of sweeping executive powers.

For years after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the FBI sought and obtained thousands of telephone records for international calls in an attempt to thwart potential terrorists. The bureau devised an informal system of requesting the records from three telecommunications firms to create what one agent called a “phone database on steroids” that included names, addresses, length of service and billing information.

Which proves to this old school, Paleoconservative, Fundamentalist Christian one thing and one thing alone. That the only difference between a Neo-Liberal; like President Obama and a Neoconservative like President Bush is this —- One loves big Government and the other loves big Government as long as they are the one’s controlling it.

I remember how doing the Bush era, people like Keith Olbermann, were wailing to the top of their lungs about how darned horrible of the Bush Administration to allow such stuff to happen; and now that the Obama Administration is in power, what do you hear?

(click to play)

That is right, absolutely nothing about it at all. That is because the socialist liberals do not give a damn about personal liberty, all they care about is winning elections. All of the attacks against the Bush administration about everything; Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, Iraq —- everything  —was just partisan politics. It never was about the people; because socialists do not give a darn about the people! All they care about is power – governmental power — everything else to them is just second nature.

Which pretty much sums up why I stopped voted for the Democratic Party.  I am pretty much on to their game anymore. They try to come off as the party of the people; but anymore, they are all about the party of the state.

Joshua Goldberg — R.I.P.

I hate having to blog about stuff like this; because it is so damned sad.

It seems that Jonah Goldberg’s brother Joshua died.

The sad news via The American Thinker:

Joshua Goldberg, son of Lucianne, brother of Jonah, and husband of Chantal, died long before his time, following injuries resulting from a fall. Although he was less well-known than his mother and brother, Josh quietly edited the sites Lucianne.com, BlogsLucianneLoves, and The Connection, working mostly behind the scenes. That was his way. Following 911, Josh was one of those New Yorkers who put on his work boots and walked miles to the WTC site to help go through the rubble looking for survivors and victims’ bodies. That was the kind of man he was, quietly doing the right thing, and never seeking public credit for it.

For reasons only God knows, Lucianne, Jonah, and his wife Chantal, have suffered deep grief that will never go away. Our thoughts are with them, and with Josh, who is now with God. May they find some degree of solace in the condolences of the many, many people who have been touched by their kindness and by their untiring work.

Remembrances can be left here.

I will be the first to admit; that I do not agree with Mr. Jonah Goldberg on politics; especially when it comes to foriegn policy. However, politics is one thing and real life is another. Let us all say a quiet prayer for the Goldberg family today. 🙁

May God Bless the Goldberg family during this horrible time.

David Keene, George Will, good friends, thank you for the enormous privilege of this podium. Even a casual observer of American public life knows how many great ideas have been born here, how many important debates joined here, how many giants of our democracy appeared on this platform. When David broached the invitation, my first reaction was one I often have: “Who cancelled?” But first choice or fifteenth, the honor, and the responsibility to do the occasion justice, is the same. I am seized with the sentiment best expressed by Hizzoner, the original Mayor Richard Daley, who once proclaimed a similar honor the “pinochle of success.”

We are all grateful to our co-sponsors, the Reagan Foundation and the Reagan Ranch. How fitting that we convene under their auspices, as we close this first week of the centennial. Those of us who served President Reagan were taught to show constant respect for the presidency and whoever occupies it. But, among us alums, the term “the President” tends to connote just one of those forty-four men, that great man with whom God blessed America one hundred years ago this week.

The prefix in “cosponsor” is meaningful tonight. It is no state secret that the two foundations have not always been co-operative, or co-llaborative, or co-llegial. So it is a tribute to the stature and diplomacy of David Keene that they have come together to produce so warm a moment as this. I am now converted to the view that yes, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be solved. Well done, David; Nobel Peace Prizes have been awarded for far less.

I bring greetings from a place called Indiana. The coastal types present may think of it as a “flyover” state, or one of those “I” states. Perhaps a quick anthropological summary would help.

We Hoosiers hold to some quaint notions. Some might say we “cling” to them, though not out of fear or ignorance. We believe in paying our bills. We have kept our state in the black throughout the recent unpleasantness, while cutting rather than raising taxes, by practicing an old tribal ritual – we spend less money than we take in.

UPDATED:BREAKING: Egypt: Mubarak Resigns, Military to take power, President Obama to make statement

Some interesting news that I meet with cautious optimism.

Video: the moment of truth via Fox News Insider:

The statement of the Vice President of Egypt:

Full statement from Vice-President Suleiman: “In the name of God the merciful, the compassionate, citizens, during these very difficult circumstances Egypt is going through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to step down from the office of president of the republic and has charged the high council of the armed forces to administer the affairs of the country. May God help everybody.”

Make no mistake, this was a Military Coup.

You can watch the live coverage Here, Here, and Here.

Of course, the stupid idiots on the left are giving President Obama the credit. (H/T HotAir.com)

Great news for the administration/president. People will remember , despite some fumbles yesterday, that the President played an excellent hand, walked the right line and that his statement last night was potentially decisive in brining this issue to a close. The situation remains complicated and delicate going forward, but this is a huge affirmation of the President’s leadership on the international stage.

Oh Brother. Talk about spinning like a top! 🙄 Yeah, President Obama did it; by being behind the curve, the point of looking like a total buffoon? Please.

Either way, this is a much historic day in Egypt. I simply look at it with cautious optimism. I just hope it goes well; and that Egypt does not turn into another Iran. — and believe you me; it could very well happen. I like to think that it would not; seeing that Egypt is a secular Country. However, where evil gathers; things happen.

President Obama will be delivering a message; of course, and when it becomes available on video. I will post it here. Update #3: Still waiting on that. See below…

Update:  Video: Happy people tend to be bit noisy!:

Some depressing news, it isn’t going to get much better in Egypt:

As in many undemocratic countries, the military is more than just the military. Egypt’s officer corps is said to own or operate vast networks of commercial enterprises, including water, construction, cement, olive oil, the hotel and gasoline industries—in all, about one-third of the country’s economy—as well as vast chunks of seaside property…

The army’s material interests don’t mesh so well with the premises of a thriving middle-class society. And the absence of such a society—the combination of large numbers of well-educated young people and few jobs to suit their talents—has no doubt fueled these last two weeks of protest.

That same WikiLeaks cable from the U.S. embassy in Cairo reported that the military views efforts at privatization “as a threat to its economic position, and therefore generally opposes economic reforms.” To the extent the military does retain power in Egypt, the people’s “rising expectations” may be frustrated, regardless of the outcome of this current clash. Whatever happens in the coming days and weeks, Egypt, once the emblem of Arab stability, might be locked in the dynamics of revolution for a long time to come.

…and even more depressing news:

The practical demands of the protesters seem fairly simple: end the state of emergency, hold new elections, and grant the freedom to form parties without state interference. But these demands would amount to opening up the political space to everyone across Egypt’s social and political structure. That would involve constitutional and statutory changes, such as reforming Egypt as a parliamentary rather than a presidential system, in which a freely elected majority selects the prime minister (who is now appointed by the president). These changes would wipe away the power structure the army created in 1952 and has backed since.

A freely elected parliament and a reconstituted government would weaken the role of the presidency, a position the military is likely to try to keep in its portfolio. Moreover, open elections could hand the new business elites power in parliament where they could work to limit the role of the army in the economy. This would put the army’s vast economic holdings — from the ubiquitous propane cylinders that provide all Egyptian homes with cooking gas to clothing, food, and hotels — in jeopardy. Moreover, the army has always preferred that the country be orderly and hierarchical. It is uncomfortable with the growing participatory festival on the streets and, even if the officers were to tolerate more contestation than their grandfathers did in the 1950s, they would likely try to limit participation in politics to those whose lives have been spent in the military by retaining the system of presidential appointment for government ministers.

Sigh…

Update #2: Now they’re saying that the Army threatened to bolt, if Mubarak did not quit:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

AllahPundit, about the above says:

A mystery solved, maybe: Richard Engel claims that senior Egyptian military leaders expected Mubarak to quit yesterday and were “furious” when he didn’t, going so far as to threaten to resign and join the protests if he didn’t do so today. True, or self-serving spin after the fact aimed at proving that they were on the people’s side all along? The rumor yesterday was that Mubarak’s speech was pre-recorded; if that’s true, then if the military disapproved of it, presumably they could have stopped it from airing. I still like my “trial balloon” theory from way up top in this post better.

Actually, both could be the case. The President could have made that video to test the waters; and when he saw it did not work, he bolted. Plus, during that time, the Army could have simply said “get out!” It could have been a mutual decision. The truth is, I highly doubt that we will ever know what really happened; at least not for a very long time.

Just my opinion. 😛

Also too; I will confess; I am shocked that he resigned. I figure that Mubarak would hang on and we would continue to prop him up, to keep the Saudi’s from doing it. I guess not! Maybe the pressure was just too much.

Update #3: Here’s the video, But I must ask, as the Anchoress did on twitter:  Where was this speech when the Green Revolution first got going in Iran? Update #4: After writing that, I had a little time to think about it; and besides the oil thing, which I wrote about below, there is also another reason why Obama did not engage with Iran, like he did Egypt. The reason is this; put simply, we do not have normalized relations with Iran, like we do Egypt. We have not had that sort of a thing, since the Carter Administration. So, being that the case; there was not much Obama could do, without causing an uproar; that would have resulted in Oil and Gas prices going through the roof — of which the Republican Party would have blamed him for, like they have done about everything else. 😀 Sorry, it is the truth. Not popular among those on the right, but just the same, quite true.

There’s one answer to that; OilThat’s right oil. If we had done the same thing in Iran. That Strait of Hormuz would have been shut down so quick; and the price of a barrel of oil would have sky rocketed, and our gas prices would have went through the roof. That is why President Obama did nothing more than they did in Iran.

For all of President Obama’s faults, one main one being his politics —- being an uninformed idiot is not one of them. I am all for Iran having Freedom, but not at the cost of gas going to 8 dollars a gallon.
