Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf: “We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al Qaida has on its hands of innocent non Muslims. You may remember that the US-led sanctions against Iraq led to the death of over half a million Iraqi children. This has been documented by the United Nations. And when Madeleine Albright, who has become a friend of mine over the last couple of years, when she was Secretary of State and was asked whether this was worth it, said it was worth it.
Pamela Geller has more, and I highly recommend that you read this one. Even I, as a Moderate Conservative, find this most interesting.
Quite bluntly, this guy has ZERO business being at, near or whatever, Ground Zero, New York or anywhere else in the United States.
But, as we know, the liberal media, will not touch this, because it really does not fit the narrative. Nor do I expect President Obama to intervene here either. Because we all know that Muslims don’t cut one another. (I mean, after all, he did have a Muslim daddy AND step-daddy…)
Any other time, I would not give two flips about something like this; but seeing the news that I saw last night. Um, I am a bit inclined to be a bit worried.
TEHRAN — Thirty-six years after construction began under the shah, Iran finally opened its first nuclear power plant at a ceremony on Saturday.
Attended by senior officials from Iran and Russia, which helped build the plant, the ceremony marked the beginning of the transfer of low-enriched uranium fuel rods from a storage site into the plant. Officials of both countries said that Saturday’s events signified the opening, not the startup, of the plant near Bushehr, in southern Iran.
The plant itself is not controversial, because the Russians plan to provide fuel for it and to remove spent fuel that could be used to make weapons. But the opening was sure to upset United States diplomats, who had encouraged Russia to delay it as a way to add to economic sanctions imposed on Iran because of its refusal to cease enrichment of uranium at its other nuclear facilities. Although Iran denies that it is using its civilian nuclear program to mask a plan to build a bomb, many Western countries are dubious.
Iran will continue to enrich its own uranium, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told the country’s semi-official Fars news agency on Saturday, hours after Russian nuclear fuel began to be inserted into Iran’s first nuclear reactor.
Iranian and Russian engineers began the weeklong operation to load uranium fuel into the Bushehr nuclear power plant, a major milestone as Tehran forges ahead with its atomic program despite U.N. sanctions.
Last week, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters the United States felt that the fact that the Bushehr reactor would operate solely on Russian fuel proved that “underscores that Iran does not need its own enrichment capability if its intentions, as it states, are for a peaceful nuclear program.”
Gibbs added that the Bushehr plant proved “to the world that, if the Iranians are sincere in a peaceful program, their needs can be met without undertaking its own enrichment program, which call into question its motives.
Having made that point; I want to direct your attention to this little gem, which popped into my RSS this morning.
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Sunday inaugurated the country’s first domestically-built, long-range, unmanned bomber aircraft, calling it an “ambassador of death” to Iran’s enemies.
Speaking to a group of officials Ahmadinejad said, “The jet, as well as being an ambassador of death for the enemies of humanity, has a main message of peace and friendship.”
The goal of the aircraft is to “keep the enemy paralyzed in its bases,” he said, adding that the jet is for deterrence and defensive purposes.
The president championed the country’s military self-sufficiency program, and said it will continue “until the enemies of humanity lose hope of ever attacking the Iranian nation.”
The 4-meter-long unmanned plane, dubbed the Karrar or striker in Farsi, was inaugurated on the national day for the country’s defense industry in a ceremony aired live on state TV.
No details were provided on the craft’s capabilities.
Iran has been producing its own light, unmanned surveillance aircraft since the late 1980s.
The ceremony came a day after Iran began to fuel its first nuclear power reactor, with the help of Russia, amid international concerns over the possibility of a military dimension to its nuclear program.
Iran insists it is only interested in generating electricity.
Call me overly paranoid, But I don’t quite believe that Iran is just using that plant for generating electricity. I mean, a plant opens one day; and nobody is quite sure what fuel that they will be using. The next very next day, Iran debuts a unmanned drone, which can drop a bomb? Sorry, but I find that just a bit unnerving. Hopefully, someone at the State Department will see the story and go, “um, Barry?” and let the President know about this. However, I do not expect that the President will be inclined to do anything about it. I mean, after all, we did just get out of Iraq; and we are still very busy with Afghanistan as well.
It could very well be, that this drone is to basically taunt and a feeble attempt to put fear into Israel. However, I am inclined to believe that it will have just the opposite effect. Either way, this should be an interesting story to follow.
I just hope that the President, his Administration and our State Department are taking this as seriously, as they should be.
Further more, I do not expect the liberal media to get into any sort of huff about this either; as they do not see the threat of Iran, like those of us, who know what idiot leader of that Country is capable of; plainly, the man is crazy and is a Jew hater and there is no telling what he might use that drone for. If I were Israel, I would be preparing for war. Because it is quite obvious that this is what Iran wants.
Remember: You — Obama and the MFM — went out a limb to vouch for this guy, putting the whole of your credibility and judgment behind the proposition that he is a well-meaning, peaceful moderate and you’d have to be crazy to think otherwise.
[….]
We know the first, second, and last defense that will be screamed by the left: B-b-but Bush said he was moderate….!
Yeah? And? Bush didn’t stake his political future on the man’s purported “moderation,” either.
Thanks to LauraW., who was out looking for actual news while I was jagging off in the comments.
Let Me Repeat: Obama and the MFM staked the entirety of their credibility and judgment on the assertion that this was a moderate man interested only in peace, and of course in no way a supporter of terrorism, and anyone who suspected otherwise was an ignorant bigot with a heart full of hatred.
So let’s see. Let’s see.
Let’s see whose judgment was sound and whose judgment was really full of ignorance and hatred — hatred for the concerns of their fellow Americans.
Headline Credit: Dr. Varno proposed “Unmosqued” and I agree.
The news comes via Pamela Geller, whom I admire for he relentless pursuit of radical Jihad and Radical Islam:
Steve Emerson has unearthed 13 hours of audio tape of Imam Rauf. Emerson and his team of investigators has spent the past four weeks going through the newly found material. Rauf is a “radical extremist cleric who cloaks himself in sheep’s clothing.”
Among the shocking revelations Emerson’s team will reveal next week — they found Rauf:
Defending wahhabism – a puritanical version of Islam that governs Saudi Arabia
Calling for the elimination of Israel by claiming a one-nation state, meaning no more Jewish State.
Defending Bin Laden’s violence
Demonstrating that there is a lot more to this man than merely a cleric.
I am going to be perfectly honest with you. I have been trying to keep an open mind on this subject and trying not demagogue this issue; but try to present all sides, as I am a more moderate classic liberal/Conservative person. But if these allegations are true, then my position will change. Because I do not want a Mosque or whatever the hell this thing is; being ran by someone like this, at all.
I, like many others I’m sure, await to hear these recordings. I cannot wait for them to come out. I should point out, that there is video of this man saying that American basically created Osama Bin Laden. I have seen that; but this is entirely different. Again, I await these recordings.
I hate to be the one to bring this up….But… I will; for years and years and years, White Nationalists and Paleo-Conservative types have been arguing that Jewish people are morally and intellectually inferior people. I have never bought into that sort of hate, but in this idiot’s case —- I think that they might actually have a point.
I’m not sure who is running against Allan Greyson; but I sure hope like hell that he wins!
50,000 advisers remain. But, the worse….. Hopefully, is over.
If you served; thank you. 😀 I could never, ever express that in any fashion that is remotely worth a darn. At least not without sounding like some sort of an idiot.
To protect the civilians in a country that is still home to insurgents with Al Qaeda and Iranian-backed militias, the State Department is planning to more than double its private security guards, up to about 7,000, according to administration officials who disclosed new details of the plan. Defending five fortified compounds across the country, the security contractors would operate radars to warn of enemy rocket attacks, search for roadside bombs, fly reconnaissance drones and even staff quick reaction forces to come to the aid of civilians in distress, the officials said…
The department’s plans to rely on 6,000 to 7,000 security contractors, who are also expected to form “quick reaction forces” to rescue civilians in trouble, is a sensitive issue, given Iraqi fury about shootings of civilians by American private guards in recent years. Administration officials said that security contractors would have no special immunity and would be required to register with the Iraqi government. In addition, one of the State Department’s regional security officers, agents who oversee security at diplomatic outposts, will be required to approve and accompany every civilian convoy, providing additional oversight.
MSNBC and WaPo both have some seriously excellent articles on soldiers reflections on coming out.
Blackfive which is a very excellent Milblogger has much to say about this. I will be honest; I am very disappointed that more of the Conservative Bloggers are not covering this. It seems that they are more interested in the Mosque story. Which is highly disappointing. My high kudos to AllahPundit over at HotAir, for at least giving the Military the dignity that they deserve.
And now, for a special comment from me, your humble host, about the ending of this long seven year war.
I think I can speak for the great majority of America — I am just damned glad it is finally done, over, finished. For seven long years, our Nation sat, rent asunder, divided over what could possibly be called the biggest blunder that a Presidential Administration, not to mention a Nation, a Congress, and Country could ever have pulled off — A decision to go to war with a Country based upon now what is now known as horrifically flawed intelligence. Without over simplifying it and at the risk of sounding like a far-leftist Liberal —- Oops, we blew it and blew it bad —– Because of this very idiotic blunder, 4415 of our Nation’s finest young men and woman, ended up going to a damned meat grinder and losing their lives. For a war, that had absolutely nothing, zero, nada to do with the attacks on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and on Flight 93 that the Government claims was on the way to the White House on September 11, 2001. In short and quite bluntly, we screwed the pooch on that one, and whole bunch of Military people were killed.
I say the word “Claims,” because the United States Government has not exactly been very forthcoming about all of the evidence that they have, which supports the claims made by the Government about what really happened on 9/11. Now, before anyone begins to think it; no, I am not a 9/11 “truther.” No more, than I am a far leftist or even a damned Republican. However, I will say to you that I do not trust my Government. Because to blindly trust the Government is to never question what they say to you; and to never question or challenge is to be a slave or a servant; and the last time I checked, I am not, nor have I ever been, a slave to anyone or a servant of anyone, save the Lord Jesus Christ. That even that I readily admit to being quite lousy at doing, at times.
Having said all that let me say this:
We won.
No thanks, of course, to the Democratic Party, The libertarian leftists, The Ron Paul people, The Pat Buchanan types, The Paleo-Conservatives in General, the far-leftists, and the liberal, owned, controlled, and financed media in this God-forsaken Country of ours.
However, all praise, honor and any sort of decree is to be given to the United States Armed Forces. They simply kicked Al-Qaeda’s ass in Iraq. The US Military smoked them damned towel heads from one end of Iraq to the other. Most of their dead bodies are in Iraqi Cemeteries; which is a good place for them, if you ask me.
Personally, I am glad this conflict is over. I am also glad, that we actually won. There was no Vietnam-like ending, we left victorious.
We won.
In the future, we should be much more careful.
We also should remember those who did not make it out alive.
However, today, we dance, we rejoice.
Because tomorrow, we go back to work and we finish the damned job on the war on terror.
There’s a new argument emerging among supporters of the Ground Zero mosque. Distressed by President Obama’s waffling on the issue, they’re calling on former President George W. Bush to announce his support for the project, because in this case Bush understands better than Obama the connection between the war on terror and the larger question of America’s relationship with Islam. It’s an extraordinary change of position for commentators who long argued that Bush had done grievous harm to America’s image in the Muslim world and that Obama represented a fresh start for the United States. Nevertheless, they are now seeing a different side of the former president.
“It’s time for W. to weigh in,” writes the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd. Bush, Dowd explains, understands that “you can’t have an effective war against the terrorists if it is a war on Islam.” Dowd finds it “odd” that Obama seems less sure on that matter. But to set things back on the right course, she says, “W. needs to get his bullhorn back out” — a reference to Bush’s famous “the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!” speech at Ground Zero on September 14, 2001.
I have in front of me, the official George W. Bush response to this situation and here it is:
You assholes did not want me in office the whole entire time that I was there; and now you want me to come bail you out, because your wonderful "Magic Negro" President cannot articulate a damn simple thought correctly? You morons are out of your damned minds!
Actually, President Bush’s office had no comment on the matter. But YOU KNOW darned well that is what President Bush is thinking right about now.
Given that they [Muslims] are such a small minority in this nation, it is odd that so many of our fellow citizens see them as such a threat. Yes, the 9/11 attacks were horrific, but they were more about optics than actual harm. The economy was already taking a hit before the Twin Towers fell. The reaction of the nation to seeing two major buildings in New York fall on T.V. has boosted the attack out of proportion. While the loss of even a single life is to be condemned and the devastation these deaths caused the families of those killed, more than this number of teens are killed every year in car crashes. These are also tragic losses but we do not make the kind of high profile issue of it that the 9/11 attacks are. – Source: DailyKOS
Wow. Just Wow. 😯
I wonder if President Obama agrees with that? It is to wonder.
Here is another example of why I distance myself from the Christian Far-Right in this Country.
A person by the name of Bryan Fischer over at a Blog named Focal Point at the American Family Association writes the following:
Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government.
Each one is a potential jihadist recruitment and training center, and determined to implement the “Grand Jihad” of which Andy McCarthy has written.
Here is the strategy, in their own words, in the words of “An Explanatory Memorandum” circulated by the Muslim Brotherhood in 1991 which outlines “the General Strategic Goal” for the Islamic movement “in North America.”
He proceeds to quote the following:
Read it and shudder:
Muslims “must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions…It is a Muslim’s destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny…” (emphasis mine)
Here is where Mr. Fischer goes astray; he is quoting from The Muslim Brotherhood, A Muslim extremist group, who has been banned in other Muslim Countries. What he is doing here, is something that is common in Far-Right, Conservative Christian circles and that is the use of collectivism; assuming that ALL Muslims believe exactly the way that the Muslim Brotherhood believes. The question is, does the Muslim Brotherhood speak for all Muslims? The Muslim Brotherhood might believe that they do; but the question is, do they actually speak for the entire Muslim Community? Some would say that Fischer is a bigot, I will not assume that, I do not know Mr. Fischer’s heart. But, I will say that the attitude that this man is portraying here is the same attitude that was displayed towards the black race in the south during the Jim Crow era.
Fischer continues:
Because of this subversive ideology, Muslims cannot claim religious freedom protections under the First Amendment. They are currently using First Amendment freedoms to make plans to destroy the First Amendment altogether. There is no such thing as freedom of religion in Islam, and it is sheer and utter folly for Americans to delude themselves into thinking otherwise.
Ask the Hutaree Christian militia how much good it did them to plaster Bible verses all over their website while plotting attacks against government officials. They are currently pondering the limits of the First Amendment, as they should, from the inside of a jail cell. The First Amendment cannot be used as a cloak for subversive activity.
Again, Mr. Fischer is assuming that all Muslims agree with the Muslim Brotherhood, which again is a faulty reasoning.
Another point I would like to make here. It is a point that I am sure that Mr. Fischer most likely did not think about. The idea of the United States Government banning the new construction of Religious building is not a smart one. The reasoning is this; that whole idea can be a two-edged sword. The same United States Government that would tell Muslims that they could not build Mosques —- is the same Government that could suddenly decide that new Churches should not be built either. Do you see where I am going with this? The less that the United States Government gets involved with the Religious affairs of America, the better. We have that first amendment for a reason; and I, as a FundamentalistBaptist Christian, would prefer if it stayed that way!
This whole idea, that we have to treat Muslims different than any other religion is flawed on it’s face. Yes, I know that Islamic terrorism is an issue. If and when the Government finds these people, we should arrest them. But it is the Muslim community’s job to insure that extremism is rooted out of it’s ranks. Not the United States Government’s.
If we being to allow the Government to exercise any sort of control over ANY aspect of ANY religion at all, we will be putting ourselves unto a slippery slope that we will never be able to reverse.
President George W. Bush Greeting the troops at Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport earlier today
Allow me this space to write a few words…. I will be the first to say that I did not always agree with President George W. Bush on policy. But I will say this; I did always know, just right where he stood, on all policy matters. For all of his faults while he was in office; the man did one thing right and that was the decision to sacrifice his Presidency for the war on terror. President Bush knew the stakes and knew the he would most likely become a lame duck President. However, that did not bother him and he did what he had to do, to defend this great nation of ours.
Like him or not….President Bush was and still is a leader, he loved our Military and was willing to take the heat of criticism from the left, for the many deaths of our Military’s officers during the Iraqi war.
I may not have voted for him, but I do and will alwaysrespect him.
“And we’re suppose to not think nothing of letting a Mosque to be built near ground zero. These people are really quite arrogant and cruel to us…and they have the gall to say we’re arrogant. The people who suffered because of 9/11 deserve to thought of better than this”
…Let me go on the record as saying….
That I totally and wholeheartedly agree. This is not about religious freedom, nor is it about hating Muslims or Islam. It is about protecting the memories of those who died on September 11, 2001; all 2,976 victims.
Some of the commentators over at HotAir are saying that T-Paw does not have the “it” factor or that he’s not Sarah Palin. To that I say, thank God he is not all of those things. I want someone that will actually will lead this Country; not some washed up broad, who thinks she is entitled to be President, because she is a woman. (Hello Hillary!) Not someone who’s thinks he is entitled to be President, because he is some sort of a Millionaire or on some sort of Mormon Mission. (Hello Mittens!)
So, to Governor Tim Pawlenty: In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, In the Name of the United States of America; the greatest Country on Earth: Please, Run for President of the United States! I will Blog for you, I will work on your campaign. Anything! You name it. We need someone who will actually lead! Without the rock-star stupidity.
We need someone like Governor Tim Pawlenty, and we need him now. Please, Tim, Run.
Hundreds of Afghan civilians who worked as informants for the U.S. military have been put at risk by WikiLeaks’ publication of more than 90,000 classified intelligence reports which name and in many cases locate the individuals, The Times newspaper reported Wednesday.
The article says, in spite of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s claim that sensitive information had been removed from the leaked documents, that reporters scanning the reports for just a couple hours found hundreds of Afghan names mentioned as aiding the U.S.-led war effort.
One specific example cited by the paper is a report on an interview conducted by military officers of a potential Taliban defector. The militant is named, along with his father and the village in which they live.
“The leaks certainly have put in real risk and danger the lives and integrity of many Afghans,” a senior official at the Afghan foreign ministry told The Times on condition of anonymity. “The U.S. is both morally and legally responsible for any harm that the leaks might cause to the individuals, particularly those who have been named. It will further limit the U.S./international access to the uncensored views of Afghans.”
What will this mean for the war effort? The US will probably have to move all of the people named in the documents and their families, which means they won’t be able to continue in their current efforts. After this exposure, we’ll have a lot of trouble finding anyone else who wants to work with us on the ground in Afghanistan, which makes our efforts there a hell of a lot more complicated, and will probably result in more dead Americans as well as Afghans.
You know, I have said some pretty “Over the top” stuff on this blog; and I have taken a bit of crap for it. Well, you know what? Screw it. I just do not care. When it comes to our troops in Iraq and the Afghan Theater, any and all crap that I get from the left for sticking up for them, is absolutely worth every minute of it. Having said all that; here is hoping the someone puts a nice bullet into the skull of this jerk off piece of crap. There’s no excuse for this sort of bullshit, this guy is just a morbid asshole, who seems to believe that he is on some sort of mission from God to stop the war. Well, if he’s that intent on stopping this war, then it is time for HIM to go see God. The quicker the damned better. We are in the Afghan theater; because a group of Religious throwbacks decided that they wanted a War with the United States. We gave them that war and now this communist piece of shit decides that the war should stop and is going out of his way harm our people. So, forget arresting him, forget hunting him down, save the justice system some money and put a bounty on his head and kill the god damned bastard.
There, I said it and if anyone wants to give me any shit; feel free. I’d like nothing more than for some liberal retard try an explain why they support terrorism to Adsense or anyone else that they want to try and get me pulled from.
Since the first frivolous ethics charges were filed against Sarah Palin two years ago, legal bills for the Palin family have mounted into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Last year, friends of the family set up the Alaska Fund Trust to help pay legal fees. They used the words “official legal fund” so that supporters would know it was the fund trusted by the Palins.
But now — because Governor Palin used the word “official” — an independent counsel decided that Sarah Palin “violated” the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act when she served as governor of the state.
Funds donated to the Alaska Fund Trust were immediately frozen until the legal challenge was sorted out.
Governor Palin has now agreed to send the money back to the donors. This means that not a single dollar of the trust fund went to pay the Governor’s massive legal fees.
On June 24, 2010 a new legal defense fund — The Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund — was created to pay these urgent legal bills.
We set up the new fund to cover the Palin’s legal bills for past, present, and future attacks.
The fund has been set up by friends and trusted advisors of Governor Palin.
Let’s help Governor Palin with this incredible burden that no citizen should have to bear and free her to speak out on behalf of conservatives all across this great country.
Will you help us relieve Governor Palin of this burden?
645 G Street | Suite 100 # 711 | Anchorage, AK | 99501
Now, I will tell you this; I was never really a huge Palin fan. But I thought the gal got a raw deal with the liberal media and from idiots that put this Lady through the mill. I am asking those who actually read this blog to help Palin out. Further more, because of hateful bastards like these twits here, I am asking that you double your support for Palin.
They called it the Alaska Fund Trust, the “official legal fund” for Governor Palin.
In fact, they added the words “official legal fund” so that supporters would know it was not just approved by the family, but that it complied with disclosure requirements, had professional management, created limits on who could donate and how much could be donated, and a variety of other restrictions that made it a very conservative and limited trust.
Further, the word “official” was used to distinguish the Alaska Fund Trust from other legal defense funds that were starting to pop up and no one knew if these would comply with disclosure laws, lobbyist restrictions, etc.
But now – because she used the word “official” – an independent counsel decided that the Trust “violated” the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act and now requires the Trust to send back every single donation raised by the defense fund while she was governor.
The left-wing media wants you to think Gov. Palin is an “ethics violator.” But they ignore the actual findings that Gov. Palin acted in good faith and relied on a team of expert trust lawyers to set it up.
They ignore that Gov. Palin stated one overriding principle: if the trust fund could be lawfully set up, she would support it. That is hardly the action of a person bent on skirting the law, contrary to the hysterical commentaries. But they ignore the truth and prefer to propagate lies about Sarah Palin.
They DON’T want you to know:
The National Democratic Committee used its Alaska chapter, the Alaska Democratic Party (ADP), to create a website with one stated goal: “Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office.” To this day, the Democrats use this website to publicly seek donations for funding bogus “legal challenges involving issues related to Sarah Palin.”
The ADP’s “Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office” campaign used our own legal system to sponsor more than two dozen ethics complaints against Governor Palin. Out of the 27 complaints, 26 were dismissed!
The so-called “independent counsel” who started this investigation was an attorney from President Barack Obama’slaw firm.
The money in the Alaska Fund Trust has been frozen and bills gone unpaid.
You see the part up there, that I put in bold, underlined and colored red? That, my friends, is the reason why I even bothered to post this here. This crusade against Sarah Palin is nothing more than a 21 century lynching against a Conservative Christian Woman. Admittedly, John McCain’s campaign did do some stuff wrong; at least I feel anyway… — but the bulk of blame goes towards the Democrats, who relentlessly hounded this woman to death and still continues to do so.
Which is just one, in a litany of reasons why I will never vote for anyone representing the Democratic Party, ever again.
Now, I ask you; as a Christian, as someone who believes that the Republican Party does, in fact, embrace the Tea Party values and does want to see a strong, secure America. * I ask you to help Sarah Palin pay down these legal bills, so that she can be free to enjoy the rest of her political and personal career, as she sees fit. Please, do not allow these liberal bastards to bring someone like Palin down or allow them to win the battle. Fight back, with the best weapon possible — your pocketbook. I know times are hard; In fact, I am going through tough times myself. But, all donations, no matter how big or how small will help her out.
Thanks for reading. 🙂

Ron Paul and Michael Steele - Two Brothers from a Different Mother?
LAKE JACKSON, Texas–(EON: Enhanced Online News)–Congressman Ron Paul today issued the following statement on Michael Steele’s recent comments that Afghanistan is a war of President Obama’s choosing:
“The American people are sick and tired spending hundreds of billions of dollars a year, draining our economy and straining our military. Michael Steele has it right and Republicans should stick by him.”
“I would like to congratulate Michael Steele for his leadership on one of the most important issues of today. He is absolutely right: Afghanistan is now Obama’s war. During the 2008 campaign, Obama was out in front in insisting that more troops be sent to Afghanistan. Obama called for expanding the war even as he pretended to be a peace candidate.
“Michael Steele should not resign. Smart policies make smart politics. He is guiding the party in the right direction and we are on the verge of victory this fall. Chairman Steele should not back off. He is giving the country, especially young people, hope as he speaks truth about this war.
“I have to ask myself, what is the agenda of the harsh critics demanding this resignation? Why do they support Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama’s war?
It comes after US commanders and the British army chief of staff, Gen David Richards, suggested that it might be useful to talk to the Taliban.
The Taliban statement is uncompromising, almost contemptuous.
They believe they are winning the war, and cannot see why they should help Nato by talking to them.
They assume, perhaps wrongly, that the Americans are in disarray after the sacking of the Nato commander Gen Stanley McChrystal last week, and regard any suggestion that they should enter negotiations with them as a sign of Nato’s own weakness.
You know the sick and sad part? They are winning the war. Because it is quite obvious the the United States does not have a damned clue as to how to fight that war over there. You just do not negotiate with terrorists; you kill them. But that is pretty hard to do; when you have a Government over there that is just corrupt as the Taliban themselves. Our President is not helping that either. Best thing that this Government can do, at this point; is to basically withdraw and protect our own. We had the chance to do, what we want to do now, in 2003 — and we blew it. Thanks George W. Bush; you damned idiot. 😡
This is very good news. I am glad to see that our Dept. of Homeland Security wised up on this one….
EMET has just received word directly from Mosab that the Government has officially dismissed its deportation case against Mosab Hassan Yousef at a federal detention center in San Diego.Mosab has told us that it was thanks to the efforts of EMET that the government decided to dismiss its case and grant him political asylum.
I may have many quarrels with this White House over many things. But this is not one of them. Mr. President, you have done well here sir. 🙂
President Obama has agreed to waive a Pentagon rule and let outgoing Gen. Stanley McChrystal retire at his full four-star rank, a White House spokesman said Tuesday.
While the general is short of the time needed to retire at his current pay grade, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama would ensure he keeps his rank as he steps down.
“The president believes and has talked with Secretary Gates about this, and we will do whatever is necessary to ensure he, somebody who has served the country as he has, can retire at a four-star level,” Gibbs told reporters.
McChrystal resigned as the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan last week after he and his staff were quoted in a Rolling Stone magazine article criticizing and mocking key administration officials, and he announced Monday that he would retire from the Army.
A senior Pentagon official told CNN that he would have to have held his rank for three years before qualifying for full retirement benefits — but Obama is waiving that requirement because of McChrystal’s many years of “honorable service,” the official said. — Via White House to let McChrystal retire with 4 stars – CNN.com
I think this was a great thing to do. Many a partisan blogger, on the right, will slam dunk the President and say that this was some sort of a political move. I disagree; the President knows that our Military is the finest in the World and that we need them to continue the war on terrorism. This shows that, I believe that McChrystal was set up by this weasel that worked for Rolling Stone Magazine and I believe that the President most likely knows this, this is maybe why the President is allowing McChrystal to keep his stars and his retirement.
So, again, Mr. President thank you for showing your humanity. 🙂
