Some Straight Awesomeness from these guys:

Remember this come November 2, 2010 and vote….accordingly.

UPDATED: Is Fidel Castro sincere or attempting to win favor with America?

This is the first thing that went through my mind when I read this article.

I am, of course, referring to the piece by Jeffrey Goldberg in the Atlantic:

A couple of weeks ago, while I was on vacation, my cell phone rang; it was Jorge Bolanos, the head of the Cuban Interest Section (we of course don’t have diplomatic relations with Cuba) in Washington. “I have a message for you from Fidel,” he said. This made me sit up straight. “He has read your Atlantic article about Iran and Israel. He invites you to Havana on Sunday to discuss the article.” I am always eager, of course, to interact with readers of The Atlantic, so I called a friend at the Council on Foreign Relations, Julia Sweig, who is a preeminent expert on Cuba and Latin America: “Road trip,” I said.

I quickly departed the People’s Republic of Martha’s Vineyard for Fidel’s more tropical socialist island paradise. Despite the self-defeating American ban on travel to Cuba, both Julia and I, as journalists and researchers, qualified for a State Department exemption. The charter flight from Miami was bursting with Cuban-Americans carrying flat-screen televisions and computers for their technologically-bereft families. Fifty minutes after take-off, we arrived at the mostly-empty Jose Marti International Airport. Fidel’s people met us on the tarmac (despite giving up his formal role as commandante en jefe after falling ill several years ago, Fidel still has many people). We were soon deposited at a “protocol house” in a government compound whose architecture reminded me of the gated communities of Boca Raton. The only other guest in this vast enclosure was the president of Guinea-Bissau.

Now getting down to the meat of the matter:

He said the Iranian government should understand the consequences of theological anti-Semitism. “This went on for maybe two thousand years,” he said. “I don’t think anyone has been slandered more than the Jews. I would say much more than the Muslims. They have been slandered much more than the Muslims because they are blamed and slandered for everything. No one blames the Muslims for anything.” The Iranian government should understand that the Jews “were expelled from their land, persecuted and mistreated all over the world, as the ones who killed God. In my judgment here’s what happened to them: Reverse selection. What’s reverse selection? Over 2,000 years they were subjected to terrible persecution and then to the pogroms. One might have assumed that they would have disappeared; I think their culture and religion kept them together as a nation.” He continued: “The Jews have lived an existence that is much harder than ours. There is nothing that compares to the Holocaust.” I asked him if he would tell Ahmadinejad what he was telling me. “I am saying this so you can communicate it,” he answered.

[….]

We returned repeatedly in this first conversation to Castro’s fear that a confrontation between the West and Iran could escalate into a nuclear conflict. “The Iranian capacity to inflict damage is not appreciated,” he said. “Men think they can control themselves but Obama could overreact and a gradual escalation could become a nuclear war.” I asked him if this fear was informed by his own experiences during the 1962 missile crisis, when the Soviet Union and the U.S. nearly went to war other over the presence of nuclear-tipped missiles in Cuba (missiles installed at the invitation, of course, of Fidel Castro). I mentioned to Castro the letter he wrote to Khruschev, the Soviet premier, at the height of the crisis, in which he recommended that the Soviets consider launching a nuclear strike against the U.S. if the Americans attack Cuba. “That would be the time to think about liquidating such a danger forever through a legal right of self-defense,” Castro wrote at the time.

I asked him, “At a certain point it seemed logical for you to recommend that the Soviets bomb the U.S. Does what you recommended still seem logical now?” He answered: “After I’ve seen what I’ve seen, and knowing what I know now, it wasn’t worth it all.”

I was surprised to hear Castro express such doubts about his own behavior in the missile crisis – and I was, I admit, also surprised to hear him express such sympathy for Jews, and for Israel’s right to exist (which he endorsed unequivocally).

After this first meeting, I asked Julia to explain the meaning of Castro’s invitation to me, and of his message to Ahmadinejad. “Fidel is at an early stage of reinventing himself as a senior statesman, not as head of state, on the domestic stage, but primarily on the international stage, which has always been a priority for him,” she said. “Matters of war, peace and international security are a central focus: Nuclear proliferation climate change, these are the major issues for him, and he’s really just getting started, using any potential media platform to communicate his views. He has time on his hands now that he didn’t expect to have. And he’s revisiting history, and revisiting his own history.”

Some, including those who fled Cuba for the freedom of America,  would say that Castro is trying to REVISE his own history; but I digress. Anyhow, this strikes me as an attempt by Fidel Castro to earn favor within the United States, in a very lame attempt to get relations normalized with the United States. This is to get trade sanctions lifted, so Cuba’s people will not be starving any longer.

Now, do I think that this will work? No. I do not. President Barack Obama might be many things; A Democrat, A Liberal, and some would say a Socialist. However, he is not a fool. It would be political suicide for him to even think about normalizing relations with a communist Government like Cuba. That is especially with his poll numbers as low as they are. This soul searching is just an attempt to re-brand Castro in his older years. I am certainly not foolish enough to buy this little dog and pony show and I am sure no one in Washington will be either.

The obligatory President Barack Obama flings 50 billion out the window to save America posting

Can you tell that I am tired of writing about this stuff, I’m getting there…:

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AFP) – US President Barack Obama Monday promised more than 50 billion dollars to create jobs rebuilding roads, railways and airports, targeting huge unemployment and ripping resurgent Republicans.

Obama, under intense pressure due to the sputtering economy ahead of November’s mid-term congressional elections, announced the new funding spree at a Labor Day rally with union workers in Wisconsin where the crisis has hit hard.

“This will not only create jobs immediately, but will make our economy run better over the long haul,” Obama said on a public holiday two months before congressional polls which Democrats fear could bring heavy losses.

“It’s a plan that says even in the aftermath of the worst recession in our lifetimes, America can still shape our own destiny.”

The White House called on Republicans to support quick passage of the measure, which would “front-load” 50 billion dollars of money as the first part of a broader effort to reauthorize transportation funding over six years.

“We’d like to pass this as quickly as possible,” a senior administration official said. The size of the total package, over and above the initial 50 billion dollar infusion of funding, was unclear.

via As Democrats fear rout, Obama launches new jobs push – Yahoo! News.

Of course, the Republicans are the ones being the evil white racists the grown up realists here:

Opposition Republicans, seeking to wrest control of both chambers in Congress from Democrats, immediately condemned Obama’s plan, signaling no let up to obstruction tactics which have slowed his presidency.

“A last-minute, cobbled-together stimulus bill with more than 50 billion dollars in new tax hikes will not reverse the complete lack of confidence Americans have in Washington Democrats’ ability to help this economy,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

John Boehner, the top Republican in the House of Representatives, sought to link the new plan to Obama’s previous stimulus package worth around 800 billion dollars, which critics say has failed to revive the economy.

“If we’ve learned anything from the past 18 months, it’s that we can’t spend our way to prosperity,” said Boehner.

This is why I do like two party politics. Because one party does equalize out the other party. What gets me is the fact that Obama accuses the Republicans of wrecking the car and that Americans should not “Give them back the keys.” The problem with that is this; and Yes, I have written this before, the Republicans seem to have learned the error of their ways. Where, the Democrats have not. They have taken that same car and driven it over a cliff and are not still trying to drive that mangled car. The sick part is, everyone else knows that car is wrecked and no longer drivable. But the Democrats are willfully blind of that fact and keep on trying to drive that same wrecked car.  I know, it is a bit of a weird analogy, but it works in this case.

The Bottom Line: Obama and Democrats are in trouble, grave trouble and they are trying every trick in the book. They pushed healthcare, when America needed Economic recovery, and yes, Jobs.  Now, they are trying to save face. Will it work? Doubtful. Many are angry and feel that Obama lied to them or told them anything to get elected. This angry will come out in the polls. Personally, I see a shift, but I do not believe it will be a huge sweep as some do. However, it will be interesting to blog about. I cannot wait. 😀

Bow Wow: Video: Obama: They talk about me like a Dog

Did you notice that funny look in his eye? I wonder, if he was aiming that whole, “That’s not in my prepared comments” bit, at the Liberal media, and say, Chris Matthews? Too Funny! 😀

That is all….

Well, You know, if Muslims do not like it, they can always leave

This blog posting is most likely going to get me into trouble with some on the left… and maybe the right.  However, at this point, I could honestly give two flips less.  Yes, I am a moderate, when it comes to things like religion and social issues.  I also tend to shy away from those who fight against the Muslims and where they want to build their houses of worship, because I happen to believe in freedom of Religion and in personal freedom, to build whatever one wants within the accordance of the law.

However, I feel that the following stories that are being ginned up by the liberal mainstream media are borderline libel towards those of us; who feel that radical Islam is a threat to the security of our Nation and a threat to the America way of life.

First, an idiotic report by ABC NEWS on how the Anti-Islamic rhetoric is heating up:

Today, a Christian pastor will hold the second service in a series bashing the planned Muslim community center  in downtown New York City in a sign of increasing vocal anti-Islam rhetoric ahead of the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

“When they decided to build a mosque and decided to preach what I consider a 1,400-year-old lie from Hell, I decided that somebody should be down there preaching the truth of God’s word,” Florida pastor Bill Keller said over the weekend.

Although his first service was sparsely attended, Keller is not alone.

Another preacher, Terry Jones from the Dove World Outreach Center in Florida, is planning what he called “International Burn a Koran Day” which encourages people to set fire to the Islamic holy book “in remembrance of the fallen victims of 9/11 and to stand against the evil of Islam,” according to a Facebook page dedicated to the event.

[….]

Critics said the rhetoric is fueling anti-Islam violence. Late last month a Manhattan cab driver was allegedly stabbed by a passenger  who reportedly asked him immediately before the attack if he was Muslim. Days later, a fire tore through the construction site of a planned Mosque in Tennessee. Investigators announced last week the cause of the fire was arson.

In response, leaders of Mosques from around the world are reaching out to other faiths for help.

“We are asking people to take into account security concerns… given the almost hysterical atmosphere we’re in right now,” said Ibrahim Hooper, national communications director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

First, whatever happened to freedom of speech?   Since when did it become illegal to express ones feelings about another Religion?  The man is a Christian; this Pastor is denouncing Islam as a false religion, and is protesting against those who practice radical Islam; by burning a copy of the Holy Koran; he is protected by the first amendment of the United States Constitution.  Secondly, why is CAIR even being quoted in this article?  This group, CAIR, which stands for the Council of American Islamic Relations, is a terrorist front organization, which has been tied to various terrorist organizations abroad.  This proves to this writer, beyond a shadow of an ounce of doubt, that the liberal mainstream media is in alliance with or at least sympathetic to the cause of those who engage in the practice of radical Islam and who wish to wage jihad against this Country.

Oh, it gets better trust me.

If that is not enough to cause your blood pressure to skyrocket; how about this lovely report from the Wall Street Journal of how Gen. David Petraeus is now coming out against the Koran burning service planned by this Pastor:

KABUL—The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan said the planned burning of Qurans on Sept. 11 by a Florida church could put the lives of American troops in danger and damage the war effort.

Gen. David Petraeus said the Taliban would exploit the demonstration for propaganda purposes, drumming up anger toward the U.S. and making it harder for allied troops to carry out their mission of protecting Afghan civilians.

“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort,” Gen. Petraeus said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community.”

Hundreds of Afghans attended a demonstration in Kabul on Monday to protest the plans of Florida pastor Terry Jones, who has said he will burn the Quran on Sept. 11.

Gen. David Petraeus said the planned burning of Qurans on Sept. 11 by a Florida church could put the lives of American troops in danger.

Afghan protesters chanted “death to America” and speakers called on the U.S. to withdraw its military convoy. Some of the protesters threw rocks at a passing military convoy, although officials told the rock-throwers to stop.

Military officials fear the protests are likely to spread beyond Kabul to other Afghan cities. In interviews with various media outlets, Mr. Jones has denied his protest will put troops in danger. Mr. Jones has been denied a permit for the demonstration but has said he plans to go forward with the his protest anyway.

Mr. Jones leads a tiny church of just 50 people, but his threat to burn the Muslim holy book has been condemned around the world and has garnered him international attention.

Well, it is certainly nice to know that our Military has our back.  I guess the anti-war MoveOn.Org was right on that one.  As Petraeus did end up betraying us all right; the American people, who believe that radical Islam is on the rise and that freedom of Religion is a constitutional right. I always thought that Petraeus was nothing more than a “Yes Man” for the Government and he has proven that here.

Finally, another little news article on CNN about idiots overseas protesting that Koran burning:

Jakarta, Indonesia — Thousands of Indonesians gathered Sunday outside the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta to protest a Florida church’s plan to burn copies of the Quran.

The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainsville, Florida, plans to mark the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks by burning copies of the Muslim holy text. The center describes itself as a “New Testament church based on the Bible.” It made headlines last year when it distributed a T-shirt that said, “Islam is the devil.”

Protesters in Jakarta carried signs saying, “Jihad to protect Koran” and “You burn qu’ran you burn in hell.” The protesters included members of the hard-line Muslim group Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia and the pluralism care movement, a multi-faith group.

“We hope that the U.S. government to stop this plan. We represent Muslim, Christians and other religions who all wants to avoid any clashes as a result,” Damien Dematra, the coordinator for the pluralism care movement, said in a news statement.

I have two words for these people — Boo Hoo, cry me a river.  Let me remind those who read this blog, whom it was which attacked this Country on 9/11.  First, it was not Radical Christians, Radical Hindus, or Radical Buddhists.  In case anyone has forgotten, radical Islamists attacked the United States on September 11, 2001.   Furthermore, I do not recall any of the Muslim community trying to stop Osama bin Laden from carrying out these attacks either from within the Middle Eastern Islamic World.  Also, please, do not try to tell me, that no one else in the Middle Eastern Islam world knew that these attacks were going to happen.  Believe me, they knew and they did not care or they wanted them to happen, just as much as radical Islamic jihadists did.

I said all that to say this here.  To the American Muslim community, if there is anyone to blame for the rise of the American resentment towards Muslims; it is yourselves that you need to blame.  You are blame for not rising up against these radical elements within your own Religion!  Therefore, to the American Muslim Community, I have one simple thing to say about the rise in Anti-Islam rhetoric and feeling in this Country —- Deal with it or leave.  For years, we Christians have been the victims of Anti-Christian rhetoric by liberals and various other sundry groups with missions to discredit us.  Furthermore, every time some mentally unstable buffoon out there did something idiotic in the name of Christianity, we have had to contend with morons disrespecting our Religion.  Now, it is your turn.  Either you deal with it or you can always pack your bags and return to the country of your origin, because frankly, no one is keeping you here.  You came here to live in freedom, and not under the oppressive Governments of your Countries of origin.  Part of that freedom, is the freedom to disrespect other Religions; that is the part of the American experience.  Either you learn to ignore that sort of a thing, or you leave.  Please make your choice quickly, and please, stop the whining; you look like children when you do such things.

May the our Constitutional rights to freedom of speech and Religion never be revoked.

The Monday Afternoon Mental Health Break, Special Labor Day Edition: Waylon Jennings

I would personally like to dedicate this to a friend and fellow brother-in-arms, who’s having a little bit of tough time right now — to his lovely wife, who keeps that Son-of-a-bitch on the straight and narrow. Not to mention from losing his ever lovin’ mind.

Mr. McCain, things will get better man, I assure you of that. This is not time to sulk, this is a time to give thanks —- that you and kids are alright.

Another two people I would like send a shout out to, is Tommy Christopher and his wife. Tommy had heart attack and his wife is being the emotional rock, as is Mrs. McCain.

You know, it’s tough to be married to old hound dogs like us; I have never made that step — most likely because I haven’t found any woman that would be willing to put up with my idiotic nonsense. But there are those crazy women who do. God Bless ’em. They are what keep those guys looking good, and acting somewhat acceptable to society. (which explains me much I would suppose….)

Tommy, Stacy, this one’s for you guys:

UPDATED: BREAKING NEWS: ROBERT STACY MCCAIN HITS DEER, KIA POSSIBLY TOTALLED

This is just breaking across Robert Stacy McCain twitter Feed:

I am trying to get info on his condition.

Anyhow, this means that Robert Stacy McCain might need the extra funds. So, head on over and hit his TipJar. I’m sure he has insurance. But, in times of need, we have to put others first. This is big. I will try to get info on his condition.

Update: Does anyone have any contact information for RSM? If you do, drop it at the contact form on the contact me page of this blog. I’d like to call the man. I cannot find any info for him anywhere. 🙁

Also, no blog posting…yet.

Update #2: Still no word on McCain and no Blog Posting as of 1:04am EST

Update #3: Finally, Here is the Blog posting:

Last night, just after 11, I decided to go to the store.

And hit a deer.

The car that my son worked so hard to fix?

The car I just spent $700 to fix?

Totalled.

The insurance probably won’t pay as much as we owed on it.

So . . . the trip I’d planned to Delaware today is canceled.

Probably no BlogCon, no 9/12.

Probably no more travel for weeks, even months.

Completed immobilized, just at the onset of the campaign season.

An irretrievable disaster.

I’m emotionally wiped out.

Update #4: I also received word from the Mrs. Other McCain via facebook, I sent her a message after frantically trying to reach Mr. McCain last night:

Thank you for your concern, its nice to know that Stacys friends are there.

I think he is fine. He is still asleep, I know he is heart broken. This too shall pass, what does not kill us will make us stronger!! lol

I am thankful that he and the boys are ok. God is good.

Late Night at the PB Pub: Special Memorial Edition, Presents: ELO

(Thanks to Smitty and POWIP for this…)

Mike Edwards, 62, was a founding member of ELO and played cello with the group from their first live gig in 1972 until he departed in January 1975.

He quit to become a Buddhist and later changed his name to Deva Pramada because of his religious convictions.

His eccentric cello playing – including plucking the strings with an orange or grapefruit – and bizarre costumes were a major ingredient of ELO.

He played cello on albums ELO II, On the Third Day, The Night The Light Went On (In Long Beach) and Eldorado.

Mr Edwards died instantly when he was hit by the bale which weighed nearly 700lbs.

He was driving along a road when the bale careered down a slope in a field and flipped over a hedge – smashing down onto his roof.

The circular bale is believed to have been in a steeply-sloping field beside the road when it somehow rolled and jumped 12ft to 15ft into traffic.

Police said the accident happened at around 12.30pm on Friday on the A381 between Harbetonford and Halwell in Devon.

Steve Walker of the Devon and Cornwall police traffic unit said they were trying to contact his family.

He said: ”This was a tragic accident and we have now identified the victim as Michael Edwards, a founder member of ELO.

”We have used photographs and YouTube footage to identify him but we now need help contacting his family for formal identification.

”We don’t believe he was ever married and we have identified an ex girlfriend but she is currently aboard.

”We think he may have a brother called David in the Yorkshire area and we obviously need to contact him.

”Michael has no immediate family but we believe he may have taught some cello in Devon and would ask his students to contact us if they know of any relations.”

Mr Edwards had been living in Totnes, Devon. After he left ELO, he was replaced as cellist by Melvyn Gale. —- Source

Thoughts and Prayers for the Rubio Family

I think I will echo the same thoughts espoused by one of the greatest Bloggers in the Conservative Blogosphere — Mr. Ed Morrissey, in regards to the Passing of Marco Rubio’s Father. But first, the Presser:

Surrounded by family and loved ones, Marco Rubio’s father, Mario Rubio, passed away tonight at Baptist Hospital in Miami.  He was 83 years old.  Mario Rubio suffered from a long bout with emphysema and lung cancer.

In his final moments, Mario was accompanied by his loving wife of 61 years, Oria, his children Mario, Barbara, Marco and Veronica, and his extended family.

On the passing of his father, Marco Rubio issued the following statement:

“My father knew hard work and struggle from very early in his life. His mother died when he was only 9 years old. The day after his mother was buried he went to work with his father and did not stop working until he was 78 years old.

“He was by far the most unselfish person I have ever known, always focused on others, and never on his own well being. He was especially determined to provide his children opportunities he himself never had.

“My dad worked as a street vendor, security guard, apartment building manager and crossing guard.  But for most of his life he was a bartender, and by all accounts a great one. But his greatest success came from the two most important jobs he ever had: husband and father.

“He was very proud of my public service. And over the last 18 months he became an expert channel surfer, constantly searching for my next television interview.

“I was blessed to be raised by a world class father. And I thank God for allowing my father to live long and healthy enough to see that the sacrifices he made for us were not in vain.”

For the entire Rubio family, as well as our campaign, politics will now be placed on temporary hold. We will resume our full schedule some time in the coming days. During this time, we respectfully ask for privacy for Marco and his family so they may mourn their loss in peace.

In lieu of flowers, the Rubio family requests honoring Mario Rubio’s memory by supporting the League Against Cancer/Liga Contra El Cancer http://ligacontraelcancer.org/.

Let me say this; first off, my most heartfelt condolences to the Rubio Family in this tragic time of loss — from my Family to theirs. Loosing someone you love is never easy at all. I could never even remotely fathom what it is that Marco Rubio is going through, I dread losing my Father, but I know that my Faith will get me through it. I know that is what Mr. Rubio and his Family are leaning on now.

Second of all; as we all know, Politics, especially here as of late, as become a bloodsport and can be nasty. There are times when there are exceptions to that rule. Here is an example:

Mr. Meek; you sir are class act. Thank you for showing the better side of humanity in a time such as this. If only there were more of you on this earth; it would be such a better place to reside. Thank you from someone, on this side of the aisle.

As for Former Republican Governor Charlie Crist, was also at the event. You sir ought to rot in the hottest part of the Devil’s hell for your asinine comment. Crist, when asked about this can only muster a ” Yeah, I heard about that.” Seriously? Is that the best you can do? Here’s hope you get what you rightfully deserve in November — defeated, forgotten and generally laughed at for being the egotistical ignorant bastard that you are.

Oh really?: “Reverend” Al “Interloper” Sharpton says that Alabama State Senate District is “Heir Property” for African-Americans

Video:

The Story via Freedom’s Lighthouse, A pretty snazzy looking site, by the way. :

Here is Naked Emperor News video of the Rev. Al Sharpton speaking at a rally in Alabama back in July in which he essentially said African-American candidate Johnny Ford should win his State Senate Primary runoff against a white candidate – Billy Beasley – because the district is “heir property” to African-Americans.

Sharpton, for all his talk of wanting equality, actually uses “race” as a cottage industry for himself. It is impossible to square these comments with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream that people would someday be “judged by the content of their character” and not the “color of their skin.”

Here is the real funny part:

The voters did not agree with Sharpton. Beasley defeated Ford in the Democratic Primary runoff for the District 28 State Senate Seat by getting 62% of the vote.

Heh. So much for that entitlement to the State Senate in Alabama, aye Sharpton?

From the comments section over at Freedom’s Lighthouse:

Your heir property is in Africa.

In-Farking-deed! I always hear Blacks; all liberals of course, trashing America and complaining about how they are always oppressed by the White Man. I have one thing to say to them —- you can always go back where you originated from and live there and see how well you live. However, when someone does that; they are automatically called RAAAAACIST!

I am sure there is a particular Pony-tailed Homosexual that is about go into meltdown, because of this post right about now. Right Bob? Right.

UPDATED: Memo to Fareed Zakaria: Overreact this you jackwad twit

Speaking of stupidity….

Via this Nimrod:

I do not minimize Al Qaeda’s intentions, which are barbaric. I question its capabilities. In every recent conflict, the United States has been right about the evil intentions of its adversaries but massively exaggerated their strength. In the 1980s, we thought the Soviet Union was expanding its power and influence when it was on the verge of economic and political bankruptcy. In the 1990s, we were certain that Saddam Hussein had a nuclear arsenal. In fact, his factories could barely make soap…

Some 30,000 people are now employed exclusively to listen in on phone conversations and other communications in the United States. And yet no one in Army intelligence noticed that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had been making a series of strange threats at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he trained. The father of the Nigerian “Christmas bomber” reported his son’s radicalism to the U.S. Embassy. But that message never made its way to the right people in this vast security apparatus. The plot was foiled only by the bomber’s own incompetence and some alert passengers.

Such mistakes might be excusable. But the rise of this national-security state has entailed a vast expansion in the government’s powers that now touches every aspect of American life, even when seemingly unrelated to terrorism.

No, you nimrod, terrorist-supporting, idiot. We did not overreact. We had information that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. We acted on it. Yes, the intelligence was bad. So what? It happens. The truth is, once we weeded out the jack-wads, who did not know shit from shinola about running a fucking war; (Hello Rummy!) we were able to stabilize that Country and put leadership in there, that did not terrorize it’s own people.

So, yes, Iraq WAS worth it; and no we did NOT overreact.

Further more, once we break the back of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, it too will be worth it as well! People will die; that is the price you pay, when you fight a god-damned war. But in the end, when Afghanistan is free and clear of Al-Qaeda and their radical Muslim idiotic nonsense, it will be worth it.

I apologize in advance for the harsh tone of this posting. But I am about god-damned tired of these terrorist-appeasing, asshole, liberal retards telling me, that going to war against terrorists is not worth the god-damned hassle. Anytime, that the United States of America goes on the defensive, and also on the offensive, in the name of liberty and freedom, it is ALWAYS worth it! It was worth it in Germany, It was worth it in Japan, It was worth it in Korea, it was worth it in Grenada AND it was worth it in Iraq too, both god-damned times — and once the job is done in Afghanistan, it will be worth it there too.

So, on the behalf of all the Soldiers —- American and Coalition; both who died and especially those who came back in one piece and even those who did not — to Mr. Fareed Zakaria I say:

SHUT THE HELL UP!

That is all…..

Update: I suppose that I should explain something here. The reason why this article provoked such a strong reaction out of me is this; I watched 9/11 unfold on TV. At the time I was a CNN watcher. All of it played out in front of me. I remember being paralyzed with fear, when the report came out, that there was a plane headed to the White House. Watching those buildings fall and seeing those images over and over and over; drove me into one of the worst depressions, that I have ever experienced. It, honestly, took me about 2 good years to get over that stuff. It took much prayer and some good old fashioned Bible reading to pull me out of that mess. Al-Qaeda caused that; and for that, I want them to pay, and pay dearly. Now you understand why it is, that I feel the way that I do.

Update #2: ….and of course, some terrorist supporting asshole links here; talking out his ass, as always. 🙄

UPDATED: Sorry, but this is just stupid

Via the Washington Post: (…..of all people!!! 😯 )

A mistake has been made in the Oval Office makeover that goes beyond the beige.

President Obama’s new presidential rug seemed beyond reproach, with quotations from Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. woven along its curved edge.

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” According media reports, this quote keeping Obama company on his wheat-colored carpet is from King.

Except it’s not a King quote. The words belong to a long-gone Bostonian champion of social progress. His roots in the republic ran so deep that his grandfather commanded the Minutemen at the Battle of Lexington.

For the record, Theodore Parker is your man, President Obama. Unless you’re fascinated by antebellum American reformers, you may not know of the lyrically gifted Parker, an abolitionist, Unitarian minister and Transcendentalist thinker who foresaw the end of slavery, though he did not live to see emancipation. He died at age 49 in 1860, on the eve of the Civil War.

A century later, during the civil rights movement, King, an admirer of Parker, quoted the Bostonian’s lofty prophecy during marches and speeches. Often he’d ask in a refrain, “How long? Not long.” He would finish in a flourish: “Not long, because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

[…]

Parker said in 1853: “I do not pretend to understand the moral universe; the arc is a long one. . . . But from what I see I am sure it bends toward justice.”

The president is at minimum well-served by Parker’s presence in the room. Parker embodied the early 19th-century reformer’s passionate zeal for taking on several social causes at once. Many of these reformers were Unitarians or Quakers; some were

"D'oh!"

Transcendentalists. Most courageously, as early as the 1830s, they opposed the laws on slavery and eventually harbored fugitives in the Underground Railroad network of safe houses. Without 30 years of a movement agitating and petitioning for slave emancipation, Lincoln could not have ended slavery with the stroke of a pen in the midst of war. Parker was in the vanguard that laid the social and intellectual groundwork.

The familiar quote from Lincoln woven into Obama’s rug is “government of the people, by the people and for the people,” the well-known utterance from the close of his Gettysburg Address in 1863.

Funny that in 1850, Parker wrote, “A democracy — that is a government of all the people, by all the people, for all the people.”

Theodore Parker, Oval Office wordmeister for the ages.

I will not take the harsh slams that the other Bloggers on the right are doing. But, man, that is such a stupid screw up.

However, when you have amateur politicians in the White House; one can only expect so much. Just as well, Sarah Palin, being quite the amateur herself could have made the same mistake.

I get mail from the Horowitz camp

Yesterday, I sent out an e-mail to the group of people that I insulted and then apologized for doing so. This is what I got back:

“Patrick,”

Your apology is just another insult. Just how stupid do you think we are? The only thing that you’re sorry about is that you got caught and your anti-Semitism was exposed. You’re not sorry for hating the Jews or being stupid enough to blog about it.

If you’re really not an anti-Semite then your actions should demonstrate it. There’s a war going on now to initiate a second Holocaust. And Israel and the Jews are just the first in line. What are you doing about it? (I’m not Jewish, by the way. Most of NRB’s bloggers and the Freedom Center’s staff aren’t.) Maybe if you replaced all your ads with pro-Israel banners, replaced your tip jar with links directing people to donate to Jewish and Israel organizations, and started regularly running videos like these:

THEN we might find your apology more sincere. But until then you’re just a Jew-hating weasel trying to lie his way into a position of respectability within the conservative blogosphere.

“Yet there are moments when the walls of the mind grow thin; when nothing is unabsorbed, and I could fancy that we might blow so vast a bubble that the sun might set and rise in it and we might take the blue of midday and the black of midnight and be cast off and escape from here and now.” — The Waves by Virginia Woolf

First I sent this back:

Wow… you guys are unreal.

Have a nice day!

Then, I sent this:

Yeah, like I am supposed to deny myself profits on my blog to atone for my sins eh?

You’re outta of your fucking mind.

Jew-Hater? Hardly.

What about those posting, that your two writers over looked

http://www.politicalbyline.com/2010/07/25/another-facebook-hate-page-discovered/

Like I said, I apologized in public, if that is not good enough. Then to hell with you, David, and the two ladies that I took a swipe at.

Identity Politics in Conservatism is such a tragic thing.

I tend to believe that this will be the end of this Conversation. This above is my gripe with the identity politics crowd on the right. They are nothing more than bullies; well, this is one American Conservative, that is not going to be bullied —- not in this lifetime anyhow.

Mr. Swindle Continues:

Thank you for demonstrating conclusively that your apology certainly wasn’t sincere and that you’re filled with blind hatred. You could have replied with, “Sure, I’ll help raise awareness of anti-Semitism and post a few ads and donate buttons but I really need to bring in a little bit of revenue.” That would have been fine.

This isn’t about identity politics. I’ve got bloggers and editors who are Christian, Jewish, agnostic — all across the board. But we all recognize the importance of fighting anti-Semitism and standing up for Israel.
And you can post this to your blog too.

You can talk all you want but until we see some action then you’re just an anti-Semite who no respectable conservative publication should link to.
Not that this Semite-Baiting twit would care; but at one time, I did have a “I stand with Israel” banner-type thing in the right hand corner of this blog. I removed it after Israel backed down to turkey and allowed shipments through. I figure, if Israel and it’s leaders will not stand up for themselves. Then why the hell should I? Sorry. I only support those, who support themselves.

Quotes of the Day

Goddard, in a prepared statement, did not agree with Brewer’s decision to avoid future debates.

“It is our responsibility to give Arizonans clear information that will allow them to exercise their fundamental right to make an informed decision about who should lead our state into the future,” his statement said. “Arizonans deserve more than a single discussion of the issues we face.”

Arizona voters won’t be seeing any more debates between the top gubernatorial contenders.

Incumbent Republican Jan Brewer said Thursday she has no intention of participating in any more events with Democrat Terry Goddard. She said the only reason she debated him on Wednesday is she had to to qualify for more than $1.7 million in public funds for her campaign.

“I certainly will take my message in a different venue out to the people of Arizona,” she said.

BREAKING NEWS: 7.1 Earthquake Hits Christchurch, New Zealand

It also has affected the Blogosphere: (Via NoisyRoom)

Blog posting from the Blog, New Zeal:

Hi all – just a quick note to say that a 7.1 Earthquake hit Christchurch, New Zealand at 4:35 am this morning. Power and water is out through much of the city. My family and I are safe.

Solid aftershocks are still coming through. Thanks to everyone for their messages and prayers.

Here is a News Story on the quake via The News Herald in New Zealand:

Many Christchurch residents are counting themselves lucky to be alive after this morning’s massive 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck the city.

Marsha Witehira, 30, was sleeping when the wall next to her bed collapsed in and falling bricks narrowly missed landing on her head.

Her friend, Tama Wharepapa, was sleeping in the lounge when items started falling on him from a wall unit.

He rushed into Ms Witehira’s bedroom and pulled her by the feet out of the way of the collapsing wall.

“It just missed my head,” Ms Witehira said.

“He literally pulled me by my feet in my sleep, just at the time that the bricks fell on my bed and it just missed me. It was pretty intense,” she said.

“I’m very lucky to be alive. If Tama wasn’t here to wake me from my sleep and pull me out, I really wouldn’t like to think what the result would be.”

Thoughts and prayers to those in the affected area.
