Why I left the Paleo-Conservatives or Old Right: Exhibit R for Racism

Our latest installment comes from none other than Chuck Baldwin. Who was the Constitution Party‘s Candidate for President of the United States in 2008.

In Chuck Baldwin’s latest Paleo-Conservative propaganda missive named “DATES THAT DESTROYED AMERICA” he writes:

July 9, 1868

This is the date when the 14th Amendment was ratified. This amendment codified into law what Lincoln had forced at bayonet point. Until then, people were only deemed citizens of their respective states. The Constitution nowhere referred to people as “US citizens.” It only recognized “the Citizens of each State.” Notice also that citizenship was only recognized among the “several States,” not among people living in non-State territories. Until the 14th Amendment, people were “Citizens of each State.” (Article. IV. Section. 2. Paragraph. 1.) The 14th Amendment created a whole new class of persons: “citizens of the United States.” This false notion of “one nation” overturned the Jeffersonian principle that our nation was a confederated republic, a voluntary union of states.

The Fourteenth Amendment (Amendment XIV) to the United States Constitution was adopted on July 9, 1868 as one of the Reconstruction Amendments.

Its Citizenship Clause provides a broad definition of citizenship that overruled the decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857), which held that blacks could not be citizens of the United States.

Its Due Process Clause prohibits state and local governments from depriving persons (individual and corporate) of life, liberty, or property without certain steps being taken. This clause has been used to make most of the Bill of Rights applicable to the states, as well as to recognize substantive rights and procedural rights.

Its Equal Protection Clause requires each state to provide equal protection under the law to all people within its jurisdiction. This clause later became the basis for Brown v. Board of Education (1954), the Supreme Court decision which precipitated the dismantling of racial segregation in the United States.

The amendment also includes a number of clauses dealing with the Confederacy and its officials.

This is why that I happen to believe that Chuck Baldwin, nor anyone else of the “Old Right” in the Country have ANY business being selected to be the President of the United States of America. Anyone that opposes the 14’th amendment to the United States Constitution is nothing more than a racist bigot. Whether nuanced or blatant, racism as absolutely NO PLACE in the dialog of politics at all. This is why I do not support this man, this is why I do not support Ron Paul or Pat Buchanan; because this sort of idiotic nonsense is nothing more than racist bigotry.  As for their legal argument, it is nothing more than constitutional double speak for the feeling that blacks were inferior to whites and did not deserve to be counted among everyone as citizens.

As far as I am concerned, as a Born-Again Christian, as feeble about that as I might be; I just cannot for the life of me, understand how anyone could hold to such a belief system as that, and call themselves a follower of Jesus Christ.

This, along with a few other very good reasons, is why I decided that the Paleo-Conservative circles were not for me. I want to be on the side that views ALL Americans; Black, Jewish, Hispanic, White as ALL equal Americans. That, my friends, is what TRUE Conservatism is about; and not that hate-mongering nonsense of the “Old Right”, which is why William F. Buckley went after well known Paleo-Conservative group named the John Birch Society in 1962. This basically ended their influence within the Republican Party.

However, to be fair to the Birch group, they did actually do a huge purge of people that were ID’ed as racists and members of the Klu Klux Klan. This took place in the 1970’s. Many people believe that Buckley’s attacking of the Birch Society was because of his being a “Neo-Con”, but actually it was because of the nonsensical conspiracy theories that were then touted by it’s founder Robert Welch. Also it should be noted that the Society does not promote and usually goes terribly out of it’s way to disprove these silly theories. I will also note, my beef is not with the actual Society itself, the John Birch Society was one of ardent fighters against the uprising of communism in America, after World War II. For that I am very grateful. Further more, I have nothing but respect for the man, of whom the society is named after; John Birch.

In Closing: While the some of the elements of Paleo-Conservative, such as the fiscal aspects of it might be noble; it is the racist and antisemitic undertones that do truly turn me off.  Which is why I distanced and do continue to distance myself from them.

Remember, according to the Dems’ own polling, Dubya is six points ahead of our global messiah in frontline House districts. But since they’re going to try to wring one more election cycle out of blaming Bush, I think it’d actually be hilarious if GWB granted their wish and came out in favor of the Ground Zero mosque — eventually. He should wait until their anti-Bush messaging is at fever pitch, then throw them a wicked curveball by weighing in on their side. Heh… Indeed. I do believe that this whole entire idea of running against Bush in the midterms is going to blow up in their faces. I mean, the American people, especially independent voters are just not that stupid. They know what is happening and it is not Bush’s fault. Bush bailed out a few banks and left the rest up to Obama. Obama, in turn, did more of that bailout and then some. Further more, he proceeded to spend like a damned drunken sailor —- but that would be an insult to the sailors, because at least they use their own money. (Yes, I know I swiped that from Ronald Reagan. Mainly because it is so true!)

Further more, Mr. Bambi Teleprompter likes to say that Republicans should not be allowed to have the keys back. Well, to that I say this — Obama is flat out lying as to who created the financial meltdown in the first place. As I have written here, like a million times. The Democrats are the one’s who created the ENTIRE MESS! With the creation of Freddie Mack and Fannie Mae, the community reinvestment act of 1973, the adding of the sub-prime clause in 1994. It all can be traced back to Democrats. Not Republicans, but Democrats.

Now, because I am a honest and non-partisan blogger, but rather just an independent Moderate Conservative Blogger, I will say that the Republicans, who were in the majority, did have a chance to stop the housing crisis and they failed to do so. That is a very valid point. But that does NOT take away from the fact that Democrats DID create the environment that lead to the housing crash or as it is also called, the housing bubble bursting. The very idea of social engineering is fundamentally flawed and should stop. Barney Frank himself is now saying that, as should many other Democrats.

In closing, let me simply say this; as a former Democratic Party voter, and as an independent voter. I will give the Democratic Party a grave warning: Run on this platform and you will be trounced in the Midterms. The American people are just NOT this stupid.  You attempted and succeeded to pass a healthcare bill, that even people in your own party said, was horrible. Then you passed a stimulus package that has been, from all accounts, as colossal failure. So, in response, you are going to try running against Bush…again. I got four good words for you: Good Luck With That!

The American people know who created this mess and it was not the Republicans. It was you guys, Democrats. When you lose, you will have no one at to blame — but yourselves. You overreached, you got insanely drunk with power; just like the Bush Administration did in 2000 and 2004 —  and now, you will be paying the piper come November, just like the Republicans did in 2006 and in 2008.

Welcome to reality Democrats, it is so nice to see you again.

I hate to be the one to bring this up….But… I will; for years and years and years, White Nationalists and Paleo-Conservative types have been arguing that Jewish people are morally and intellectually inferior people. I have never bought into that sort of hate, but in this idiot’s case —- I think that they might actually have a point.

I’m not sure who is running against Allan Greyson; but I sure hope like hell that he wins!

It appears that the founders of Google are, like the guys that created Facebook, are going to get a feature film.

EXCLUSIVE: The founders of Facebook aren’t the only game-changing geeks poised to have their story told on a movie screen. Michael London’s Groundswell Productions has teamed with producer John Morris to acquire movie rights to the Ken Auletta book Googled: The End of the World As We Know it. They will use the book as the blueprint for a feature film that tells the story of Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page and the fast rise of the juggernaut web business that made them billionaires.

The book was published last fall by Penguin. Auletta, the media columnist for The New Yorker, chronicled a business that grew into a search engine-driven octopus whose $20 billion in ad revenue last year was more than the major broadcast networks combined. CEO Eric Schmidt predicted to Auletta that Google will become the world’s first $100 billion media company.

Some of you might expect me to snarl and say that these guys do not deserve the fortune that they have; because they are liberals — or at least from a State that is quite known for it’s liberalism.

Well, I hate to be the one to break it to you; but I do not fault these young men one lousy iota. Why? Well, it is like this here:

First off, I am not a progressive, who believes that anyone that makes or has more money than me, is someone to be loathed. Those guys have that sort of money, because they worked their rear-ends off for it. They just did not stand around and all just luckily all of that success came to them; for nothing. No, they worked for it. They spent hours coding and recoding that software to make it work better. That my friends, is just honest to goodness work. Work, that I could never do in million years, if I wanted to. Why? Because I am not a coder; I am a writer —- or at least I try to be one anyhow. There are some however, that think that I couldn’t write my damned way out of a paper bag; and you know, sometimes I think they just might be right. 😉

There is another angle to this as well; whether we want to admit it or not — Twitter, Facebook and Yes, even Google revolutionized the way we use the internet. Before these services were created; an era known affectionately among us old duffers as the “Web 1.0” era — the Internet was a patchwork of websites, that were, quite honestly, awful. You see, this was also before the days, when HTML was actually quite intelligent. The internet, for better or for worse — has grown and got much smarter by enormous leaps and bounds, since back in the mid-1990’s when I began to use it. Honestly, to me, it seems like one day, I was using Microsoft Frontpage 2000 to create my website; and now I am using WordPress to do what I do now.  The awesome part is; WordPress does everything, and I do mean, everything for you. WordPress is a writer’s dream and it too, has changed the way writing and yes, the internet is done.

Speaking of WordPress; if anyone deserves a Movie made about him — It is Matt Mullenweg. Now as for Matt; whether you love him or hate him, you cannot argue this fact; Matt changed the game with WordPress. Matt basically took a piece of software, that someone else had stopped development on, did what is known as “Forking” in programming talk, and made it his own and made enormously better product out of it.  Matt for all of his quirks; and that god-awful, “R.E.M. Shiny Happy People” looking template he is using on his blog — is actually an awesome person. 😀

In closing: (Said in my best drunken Ted Baxter voice) We as Conservatives should not be the one’s deriding these young people, we should be the one’s extolling their fortunes and encouraging others to follow in their footsteps.

Sigh….

Why must I write about insanely stupid things such as this?

I mean, is being a moderate Conservative automatically a mandate to sign on with the stupid now? If it is, I must have not have gotten the memo on this at all.  Because this bunch of blatant stupidity, I find to be most distressing — almost to the point of shutting my blog and disappearing from Politics altogether.

What I am griping about, is this incredibly stupid poll out, which says that more and more people believe that President Obama is a Muslim.  I mean the man’s Father gives to his kid an Arab middle name, because the man was a Muslim at one time, and everyone freaks and says, “He’s a Muslim!” or in some quarters, “He’s a nigger Muslim!”  —- Depending on where you are, north or south of the Mason-Dixon Line.  Yes, I went there, you are very welcome.  Figure if Dr. Laura can go there, so can I.

Seriously, folks, I am honestly beginning to wonder if some members of the Anglo-Saxon race are not inflicted with some sort of incurable disorder.  I like to call it “Negro-Phobia,” White people are honestly frightened by anyone that looks, talks, acts, and even sounds different than they do.  This is 2010, I thought we were over such nonsense; after all, we did elect the Nation’s first black President.  Nevertheless, this nonsense is still being polled about, talked about and blogged about.

My question to my fellow Conservative is this; do you people honestly believe that this sort of idiotic nonsense is going to get the Republicans elected back into office in November?  I mean, seriously!

What is fueling this sort of nonsense?  Fear —– You know damned well the Republicans are playing that little card for all it is worth.

Look, I know the President is a socialist I get that.  However, to accuse a man of lying about what his Religious leanings are,  is just plain underhanded tripe.  I mean, has all of the damned intellectualism disappeared out of the Conservative side of the Political fence for God’s sake?  Have all of the men of wisdom within the ranks of Conservationism been replaced with Hillbilly Mouth breathing idiots, who have no concept of any sort intellectual thought?

I will not try to mislead my readers — at this point, I am seriously beginning to believe that Conservatives have officially jumped the damned shark on this little subject.  I am not ready to official change to another political stripe or anything; because I have learned too much about the left, and much of it, I cannot stand.  Nevertheless, this nonsense of accusing the first black President of the United States about lying to America, as to what God his subscribes to, is just very ridiculous.

Is this what the Republican Party has become?  The President of the United States, who happens to be black and have Arab middle name has a dinner with a group of Muslims.  The President tells a group of Arabs that are visiting the White House, that this Park 51 site — has the legal, not the moral, but the legal right to build in New York City and that the United States Government will not interfere with this process — and alone, that makes him a Muslim?

Another example: The economy is not recovering as fast or a well as the Democrats had hoped and that somehow means that President Obama is some sort cryptic-Muslim socialist that wants to overthrow the capitalistic system in America, and introduce us to Sharia law and Communism.

Do not laugh; I have heard such stuff out of the mouth of Glenn Beck himself and from other well-known Conservative Bloggers.

If this all somehow sounds familiar to some of my older readers, it should, the same very thing was said about President John F. Kennedy.  There were actually Conservatives and yes, some Democrats who were going around shrieking that Kennedy would be taking orders from Rome.  You see, Kennedy was Catholic and back in those days, a Catholic had never served as President of the United States.  In fact, the issue got so bad, that Kennedy had to address the Southern Baptist Convention in 1960 to convince them and the rest of America that he would not be taking orders from Rome.

Fortunately, back then, it worked.

What you did not have in 1960 were Conservative Bloggers who were “hell bent” on destroying a President, for the simple fact that he is a Black Democrat.  However, today, you do have them and there are many of them.

Look, I am going to make an admission to you all.  I did not create this blog to attempt to destroy President Obama.  I started this blog to criticize the President of the United States on his policies, when I thought that they were wrong, dumb, and misguided, and I will continue to do so.  However, what I will not partake in is the silly idiotic partisan rumormongering that is not based on facts.

Having said all of that let me give an open message to the Conservative and Republican Blogging community:

I will not partake in this stupidity and if this is, what is required to be in with the “Cool Kids” in Conservative blogger, then by all means, count me is an outsider — Because I want nothing to do with this sort of stupidity.

Weekly Jobless Claims hit 500,000 “unexpectedly”

Seriously, what is it with the stupid media and that word?

New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly climbed to a nine-month high last week, yet another setback to the frail economic recovery.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 500,000 in the week ended August 14, the highest since mid-November, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast claims slipping to 476,000 from the previously reported 484,000 the prior week, which was revised up to 488,000 in Thursday’s report.

A Labor Department official said there was nothing unusual in the state level data. The data covered the survey week for the government’s closely watched employment report for August, scheduled for release early next month.

“There are some technical factors out there and the seasonal factors seem to be pushing it up a little bit. But given the trend of claims it looks like the economy ran into a wall in August,” said Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at Bank of Tokyo-MitsubishI UFJ in New York.

Oh Please, like these idiots did not expect the jobless claims to rise, seeing that we are in the worst recession, since the great Depression.  Just more of that Presidential butt kissing since the election of that idiotic Democrat in the White House —– by the liberal owned and financed main stream media.  I will say this; when I saw Ed Morrissey making a fuss about the use of the word, at first, I thought Ed was being a bit silly and quite melodramatic about it. However now, it is getting even ridiculous for even me to bear now. So, seriously guys. Knock off the use of that idiotic word, please.

CNBC’s headline writer also got gobsmacked, writing this header for the Reuters story: “Weekly Jobless Claims Post Surprise Jump, Hit 500,000.”  Maybe Reuters should seriously look at hiring better analysts.

Ed is so nice — Allow me to take that a bit further. Perhaps Reuters ought to actually try reporting news; instead of being the liberal Democratic Party supporting, terrorist apologists, that they actually are — Maybe then we could actually trust them again, as a legitimate news source; instead of having to employ the “Idiot Liberal” filter every time someone has to actually read their propaganda stories that they attempt to pawn off on actual thinking Americans.

I know, it sounds quite harsh; but when you strip off the gloss, and the shiny paint —- that is what you have.

To protect the civilians in a country that is still home to insurgents with Al Qaeda and Iranian-backed militias, the State Department is planning to more than double its private security guards, up to about 7,000, according to administration officials who disclosed new details of the plan. Defending five fortified compounds across the country, the security contractors would operate radars to warn of enemy rocket attacks, search for roadside bombs, fly reconnaissance drones and even staff quick reaction forces to come to the aid of civilians in distress, the officials said…

The department’s plans to rely on 6,000 to 7,000 security contractors, who are also expected to form “quick reaction forces” to rescue civilians in trouble, is a sensitive issue, given Iraqi fury about shootings of civilians by American private guards in recent years. Administration officials said that security contractors would have no special immunity and would be required to register with the Iraqi government. In addition, one of the State Department’s regional security officers, agents who oversee security at diplomatic outposts, will be required to approve and accompany every civilian convoy, providing additional oversight.

Blackfive which is a very excellent Milblogger has much to say about this. I will be honest; I am very disappointed that more of the Conservative Bloggers are not covering this. It seems that they are more interested in the Mosque story. Which is highly disappointing. My high kudos to AllahPundit over at HotAir, for at least giving the Military the dignity that they deserve.

And now, for a special comment from me, your humble host, about the ending of this long seven year war.

I think I can speak for the great majority of America — I am just damned glad it is finally done, over, finished.  For seven long years, our Nation sat, rent asunder, divided over what could possibly be called the biggest blunder that a Presidential Administration, not to mention a Nation, a Congress, and Country could ever have pulled off — A decision to go to war with a Country based upon now what is now known as horrifically flawed intelligence.  Without over simplifying it and at the risk of sounding like a far-leftist Liberal —- Oops, we blew it and blew it bad —– Because of this very idiotic blunder, 4415 of our Nation’s finest young men and woman, ended up going to a damned meat grinder and losing their lives.  For a war, that had absolutely nothing, zero, nada to do with the attacks on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and on Flight 93 that the Government claims was on the way to the White House on September 11, 2001.  In short and quite bluntly, we screwed the pooch on that one, and whole bunch of Military people were killed.

I say the word “Claims,” because the United States Government has not exactly been very forthcoming about all of the evidence that they have, which supports the claims made by the Government about what really happened on 9/11.  Now, before anyone begins to think it; no, I am not a 9/11 “truther.”  No more, than I am a far leftist or even a damned Republican.  However, I will say to you that I do not trust my Government.  Because to blindly trust the Government is to never question what they say to you; and to never question or challenge is to be a slave or a servant; and the last time I checked, I am not, nor have I ever been, a slave to anyone or a servant of anyone, save the Lord Jesus Christ. That even that I readily admit to being quite lousy at doing, at times.

Having said all that let me say this:

We won.

No thanks, of course, to the Democratic Party, The libertarian leftists, The Ron Paul people, The Pat Buchanan types, The Paleo-Conservatives in General, the far-leftists, and the liberal, owned, controlled, and financed media in this God-forsaken Country of ours.

However, all praise, honor and any sort of decree is to be given to the United States Armed Forces.  They simply kicked Al-Qaeda’s ass in Iraq.  The US Military smoked them damned towel heads from one end of Iraq to the other.  Most of their dead bodies are in Iraqi Cemeteries; which is a good place for them, if you ask me.

Personally, I am glad this conflict is over.  I am also glad, that we actually won.  There was no Vietnam-like ending, we left victorious.

We won.

In the future, we should be much more careful.

We also should remember those who did not make it out alive.

However, today, we dance, we rejoice.

Because tomorrow, we go back to work and we finish the damned job on the war on terror.

Constitutional issues aside, this mosque is just morally wrong. Considering the fact that this developers of Park 51 have refused to meet with Governor Patterson, they just do not care about morals at all. Hell, even Howard Dean is saying move the darn thing! Howard Dean people! Is that not any indication to the Democrats that this just might not be a good idea?!?!?!

Anyhow, Watch this and tell me you support that damn towel-head mall; which is what it really is.

I really did not want to write about this, but I feel if I remain silent, I would be sinning against God himself.

It appears that Joseph Farah has given Ann Coulter the boot from one of his speaking engagements.

WASHINGTON – Conservative superstar Ann Coulter today was dropped as a keynote speaker for WND’s “Taking America Back National Conference” next month because of her plan to address an event titled “HOMOCON” sponsored by the homosexual Republican group GOProud that promotes same-sex marriage and military service for open homosexuals

Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND, said the decision was a gut-wrenching one for his team because of their fondness for Coulter as both a person and writer-speaker.

Ultimately, as a matter of principle, it would not make sense for us to have Ann speak to a conference about ‘taking America back’ when she clearly does not recognize that the ideals to be espoused there simply do not include the radical and very ‘unconservative’ agenda represented by GOProud,” said Farah. “The drift of the conservative movement to a brand of materialistic libertarianism is one of the main reasons we planned this conference from the beginning.”

How any man, can call himself a blood-washed Born-Again Christian and allow which blasphemy be promoted from a website, that claims to promote Conservative Christian values, is much beyond me.

I understand Mr. Farah’s feelings about Homosexuality and I happen to agree with them myself. However, I personally believe that Mr. Farah ought to watch a little closer as to what his website is actually selling or at least pay a bit more attention to what kind of e-mails that his site puts out. Especially the subject lines.

Another little problem is this here:

I mention this because I happen to believe that this crazy idea, that Social Conservatism and Conservative Christian-ism of the era of Ronald Reagan, is going to become a mainstay in the Republican ever again —- is absolutely insane.  There is just no way that this will ever happen. Christianity anymore, among the American people, is a damaged brand. There have been just too many scandals in those circles. The powerful Conservative Christian right coalition formed under Ronald Reagan fell apart many, many years ago. There are many theories as to why this happened, and I really do not have the time to expound on this. But I will say, that many of the players of the evangelical world that existed during that time, simply do not exist any longer. Plus, attitudes among many Conservative Christians of today have changed. Gone are the feelings that Conservative Christians must rule the World — They tried that, and they failed.….badly.  Most Conservative Christians today simply want to enjoy their Religion in peace, without fear of the Government.

So, while I can appreciate Joseph Farah and his feelings. I simply believe that he is wrong here. I believe Ann Coulter should formally separate herself from this man and request that her column not be published by this site any longer. Because it is quite obvious, that she and Joe Farah are no longer on the same page.

1) farah is doing this for PUBLICITY and publicity alone;

2) this was an email exchange btwn friends and even though I didn’t expressly say “OFF THE RECORD” and I believe everything I said, he’s a swine for using my private emails politely answering him. why would he do such a despicable thing? … for PUBLICITY.

3) but now that he has, I will say that he could give less than two sh-ts about the conservative movement — as demonstrated by his promotion of the birther nonsense (long ago disproved by my newspaper, human events, also sweetness & light, american spectator and national review etc, etc etc). He’s the only allegedly serious conservative pushing the birther thing. for ONE reason: to get hits on his website.

4) his group hadn’t come up for the money to book me for a speech, anyway, so he’s not canceling me from anything.

(of course, they know I’m not changing my mind on gay marriage even though I like gays.) this is total b.s. for PUBLICITY by a publicity whore. Attack ann coulter, get publicity. liberals figured that out a long time ago, so he’s a little late to the party.

Whether or not he ever uttered a comment along the way about overdoing home ownership, Frank’s actions helped to create and maintain those policies, and he defended them repeatedly over the last twelve years.

However, the New Modesty isn’t a reference to Frank’s self-promotion, but the way that the adherence to the free market seems to have gained traction over the last few months. Just last year, Frank and his allies were busily claiming that the free market caused the collapse, and that only government intervention could restore American prosperity. Eighteen months into the Obama administration, Frank now wants to sound like a born-again acolyte of Adam Smith, or at least as close as Frank can approximate such a pose. Modesty in government is suddenly hot, even among Massachusetts liberals.

Amen. May we all learn our lessons from this craziness of the last few years.

Bush to announce his support for the project, because in this case Bush understands better than Obama the connection between the war on terror and the larger question of America’s relationship with Islam. It’s an extraordinary change of position for commentators who long argued that Bush had done grievous harm to America’s image in the Muslim world and that Obama represented a fresh start for the United States. Nevertheless, they are now seeing a different side of the former president.

“It’s time for W. to weigh in,” writes the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd. Bush, Dowd explains, understands that “you can’t have an effective war against the terrorists if it is a war on Islam.” Dowd finds it “odd” that Obama seems less sure on that matter. But to set things back on the right course, she says, “W. needs to get his bullhorn back out” — a reference to Bush’s famous “the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!” speech at Ground Zero on September 14, 2001.

Dr Laura quits radio show, plays victim card

You know that someone has royally screwed up and is now spinning, when people on the right are going “HUH?”

Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the conservative talk radio commentator under fire for repeatedly using a racial epithet, announced on Tuesday that she was ending her long-running radio show.

Dr. Schlessinger made the announcement on Tuesday night on “Larry King Live,” saying she made a decision not to renew her contract when it expires at the end of the year and suggesting that she did not want her opinions and language, however provocative, to be muzzled.

But she stressed that she was not retiring, only ending her show, and would continue to write books and appear at speaking engagements.“I want to regain my First Amendment rights,” she said. “I want to be able to say what’s on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I’m sort of done with that.”

“I’m not quitting,” she told Larry King. “I feel energized actually — stronger and freer to say the things that I believe need to be said for people in this country.”

Sounds like a “I’m a victim” speech to me….

The end of her radio career (in January when her contract concludes) is the result of her own ugliness on-air with a caller last week who asked “Dr. Laura” about the use of racially charged language. Schlessinger used the N-word 11 repeatedly in her answer, and listening to the tape,  I was shocked by the aggression that I could hear building in Schlessinger’s voice. She was using the word as a weapon.

Some of my colleagues have used the glib phrase “she lost it” to describe Schlessinger’s comments in that exchange, but I think it was almost the opposite: I think perhaps she was letting her speech connect to some deep seated feelings she had, and that is what made her words all the more troubling to me.

Ed Morrissey, while not so personally critical, does point out the obvious:

If Schlessinger feels that getting paid to talk puts too much restriction on her broadcast content, that may well be a legitimate point, but as noted above, broadcasting is only one of several means available to her in commercializing her speech.  Besides, the First Amendment doesn’t confer the right to profit from speech, only the right to speak.  It isn’t an entitlement to publication.  It also means that people can speak out and disagree with what Schlessinger says, even if she sees that speech as an “attack” on her, her sponsors, and her affiliates.  It’s a little late in the game to suddenly get sensitive about criticism, and just a little hypocritical to cast it as an “attack” while demanding the supposed return of her First Amendment rights.

Schlessinger offered a full apology for her remarks, calling them “wrong.”  She didn’t evade responsibility for them, nor did she offer the “I’m sorry if anyone was offended” non-apology apology.  Schlessinger should have stopped there, instead of making herself into a First Amendment martyr when she has never had an issue of being “silenced” or having those rights taken from her.  Even those of us who work daily in the First Amendment space seem to need reminders that the Constitution does not give people the right to be free from criticism after their own exercise of free speech.

I have to agree with all of the above. I am going to be quite blunt and honest with you. I do not like this woman at all. Why? Well, I have to say, that I have problem with people who try an articulate family values, who come from basically broken families; further more, I have a problem with people who are not exactly honest about their personal history. The truth is, Dr. Laura has repeatedly lied about her family, her previous marriages and a host of other things. That is, until people, who were concerned that she was not telling the truth, did some investigative work on her and found out the truth. This forced her to admit that she had not been exactly telling the truth. This to me, ruins any credibility that you might have; I’m sorry, but if I am going to take advice from anyone, it  is going to be from someone, who’s actually coming from a background of ideal family values.

Lastly, there is the issue of religion. I am sorry, but Religion, to me, is not like trying on pair of socks. How any person, can sit on a radio show and give Conservative Traditional and yes, even Christian values; all the while not even being a practicing Christian or any other religion for that matter, is quite beyond me. First, Dr. Laura was a Jew, then she was not; the lady needs to pick a Religion and stick with it.

I am sorry if this sounds like I am being overly critical of Dr. Laura; I know she most likely means to do well. But I believe the she could do and be much better; if she would just be more honest and open about who she is. Plus, find a religion that she can handle and stick with it.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, called for an investigation of those who are protesting the building of the Ground Zero Mosque on Tuesday. She told San Francisco’s KCBS radio

And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City.” (h/t Kristinn)

Calls to investigate the funding for those proposing the $100 million “Cordoba House” have fallen on deaf ears, though, as New York’s Mayor Mike Bloomberg has described such an investigation as “un-American.”

Ms. Pelosi called the Ground Zero mosque an “urban development decision” for New Yorkers to work through. Her remarks happened on the heels of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, parting ways with President Barack Obama on the issue. Mr. Reid suggested the mosque should be built somewhere else.

Heck, even the liberals do not like this idea! For all of their faults; and I know this personally, because I was a left of center voting Democrat at one point — the Liberals do believe in the first amendment. So, I will give them credit there. Anyhow, I think Nancy Pelosi ought to be checked, because I really do not think she is speaking with a clear mind or something. Because she just is not make any sense here. Investigate people for using their right to free speech? It just does not make any damned sense at all.

If you know a little history about Catholics in America, you will recognize that they were saying much the same thing 160 years ago with the first great influx of Irish immigrants. The myth that America is tolerant of other religions is belied by the historical treatment of Catholics and Jews in this country. While lip service is paid to constitutional protections, as late as 50 years ago, there were serious conversations carried out by serious people about whether electing a Catholic president would doom us to rule from Rome.

I’d advise you to go read the rest of that. Rick is one of the more saner voices on the right — well, outside of me, of course. 😉 His point is VERY valid. There was a time, when the right wing hated on Catholics, Jews and anyone else, who wasn’t Christian White American. In fact, there are places on the web, where stuff like that can be seen now. Workers at a General Motors stamping plant in Indianapolis, Indiana chased United Auto Workers executives out of a union meeting Sunday, after the UAW demanded workers accept a contract that would cut their wages in half.

As soon as three UAW International representatives took the podium, they were met with boos and shouts of opposition from many of the 631 workers currently employed at the plant. The officials, attempting to speak at the only informational meeting on the proposed contract changes, were forced out within minutes of taking the floor.

The incident once again exposes the immense class divide between workers and union officials, who are working actively with the auto companies to drive down wages and eliminate benefits.

A vote on the changes was originally scheduled for Monday, but was cancelled by the UAW after Sunday’s informational meeting made it clear that opposition was nearly unanimous. The new contract would, among other concessions, cut wages from an average of $29 an hour to $15.50.

Sorry, I got no pity for these idiots. I know my dad’s a union man. But, you know what? I’m sitting here, with no damned income, at all. Except for the piss poor income, that this blog happens to generate; and these asshole clowns are bitching because they’ll make a little less money? Fuck ’em I say. This is what happens when you have Unions; it’s great when times are good. But when times get tough, the Unions get ugly. I bet now, that this plant closes and these clowns get put out of work, and you know what? They’ve got it coming.

As I said in the title. I could and would live very well for $15.50 an hour. Sign me the hell up, I will start tomorrow!

Update: As a matter of fact, I just drove my 1990 Mercury Cougar to the damned JUNK YARD today and got $275.00 for it. Which is the most money that I have had since about 2005, when I had to quit my previous job — because it was making me sick. Anyhow, the point is this; I have not worked since 2005, I could not afford to piss more money away into that old car of mine and so I junked it. My point also, is this; there are people out there, like me, who are out of work and these idiot clowns are crying —- because they actually have to take a pay cut. In other words, they feel entitled to make over $20.00 an hour. I got four words for these idiots: CRY ME A RIVER!  🙄

Again, I say, I could and would love to work for $15.50 and hour and I could live quite well.

Jews, Propaganda and Park 51

Here is the main reason I will not use Haaretz for reporting news stories:

 

After weeks of heated debate over plans for an Islamic community center near Ground Zero – the site of the 9/11 attacks on New York – it seems Muslim leaders will soon back down, agreeing to move to a new site.

The decision follows a high-profile campaign against the project that included advertisements on New York buses showing images of the burning Twin Towers, an iconic landmark razed when al-Qaida terrorists flew packed passenger planes into them in 2001. The New York Republican party is also said to be planning a hostile television campaign.

This story, of course, is bogus, false, and further proves that Haaretz is nothing more than a Zionist propoganda outlet. Even the Jerusalem Post has a bit more integrity than these guys; but not much more. There have been bogus stories float out of that paper as well.  

However, Harry Reid is now being quoted as saying that he wished that these Park51 folks would move the Mosque elsewhere. Of course, his statement is being met with anger from some of the left. I believe that this Mosque could become a thorn in the side of the Democrats come November.  

Speaking of political issues; this whole Mosque situation has me a bit ticked off. Here’s why; if any of you all believe that the Republican Party or any of the rest of these people that are raising a fuss about this damned building actually give a flying frito about that building being built —- I have land to sell you in Texas for cheap. The truth is, these people, and if you’ll pardon my frank speech — these people do not give two shits about that Building being built two blocks away from where the twin towers fell. You want to know what this is all about? Making President Obama and the Democrats look bad; so that the Republicans, whom most of these bloggers, Conservatives and other people support — can possibly win in November. Further more, this man-made controversy is also an effort by said bloggers, who I will not mention, for fear of litigation; to feed this silly Meme that President Obama is not really an American citizen, but rather a crypto Muslim and a supporter of Islamic Terrorism in America and abroad.

The problem with that idea is this; the American people, specifically independent voters are just a little bit smarter than these morons give them credit for. They know when some deranged Zionist Blogger, who also said that Obama was the love child of Malcom X, is trying to feed them a line of bullshit; and they are going to vote appropriately, as they should. That is what steams me about this whole thing. These idiots, and that is what they are, idiots; do not care about the area, they only give a crap about thier personal and political and Zionistic agendas — which is to smear ALL MUSLIMS AND ARABS as terrorists.

It is, I am afraid, what happens, when Religion and Politics become entangled.

Washington — Sen. Carl Levin was hit in the face with a pie this morning at a question-and-answer session on what should’ve been friendly ground in Big Rapids.

The Democrat from Detroit was speaking to members of the Mecosta County Democratic Party when a young man — who described himself as a student — began chastising Levin for his work on the Senate Armed Services Committee, which helps direct military and war policy.

After a few minutes of speaking at Pepper’s Café and Deli, a woman who accompanied the student to the event walked up to Levin and hit him in the face with a pie, a source with Levin’s office confirmed.

Big Rapids Police arrested the woman on assault and battery charges.

President Barack Obama wanted to convince America that the Gulf of Mexico remains open for business. But perhaps he didn’t want the world to catch another glimpse of his hairless chest.

So when he and his daughter, Sasha, took a dip in the sea off Florida this weekend, only the White House photographer was allowed to capture proceedings.

The official picture was intended to provide evidence that the region’s beaches are back to normal. Yet it soon emerged that the private beach on which it was taken, off Alligator Point in St Andrew Bay, north-west Florida, isn’t technically in the gulf.

Since the beginning of the Obama Administration on January 20, 2009, ordinary Americans have financed and been exposed to an unprecedented number of public relations and propaganda efforts. Federal spending for public relations contracts rose to historically-high levels during the Bush Administration. Under one-party rule in 2009, the White House used the machinery of the Obama campaign to tout the President’s agenda through inappropriate and sometimes unlawful public relations and propaganda initiatives. Congress buoyed the Administration’s propaganda efforts by increasing federal spending on public relations for the first time since 2005.

The Obama Administration frequently used federal resources to promote the President’s agenda. In many cases, the Administration relied on the reach and resources of federal agencies and their personnel to promote certain of the President’s favorite programs. The White House also leveraged ties to the arts and entertainment community to embed propaganda in the content of television programming and artwork. These propaganda efforts violated appropriations riders and federal law prohibiting the use of appropriated funds for publicity or propaganda purposes.

The White House also used its inherent visibility advantages to multiply the effectiveness of websites containing misleading and controversial information. The White House used its resources to push visitors to websites that urge grassroots activism based on false and misleading information. The President’s right to sell his policy recommendations to Congress and the public is not disputed; however, using the resources of the federal government to activate a sophisticated propaganda and lobbying campaign is an abuse of office and a betrayal of the President’s pledge to create “an unprecedented level of openness in Government.”

Instead of facilitating openness, the public relations and propaganda activities of the White House have had precisely the opposite effect. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has historically deemed activities involving “covert propaganda” to be unlawful. In those cases, the source of the public relations or propaganda materials did not disclose his or her identity as a federal employee or contractor. Many of the Obama Administration’s propaganda activities are unlawful because they are covert. Furthermore, several programs closely resemble those decried by Democrats and ruled unlawful by GAO during the Bush Administration.

This report examines several of the most visible public relations and propaganda efforts during the first year of the Obama Administration. Viewed collectively, these activities reveal an Administration better suited to campaign-style self-promotion than to providing transparent and honest leadership.

In October 2008, the Justice Department’s Office of Public Affairs (OPA) added Tracy Russo to direct the Department’s “new media efforts.” Russo, the Chief Blogger and Deputy Director of Online Communications for the John Edwards for President Campaign,58 was given the title “New Media Specialist.”59 Since October, Russo has served as the author of the Justice Department’s official blog.60

Shortly after Russo was hired, reports surfaced that indicated she was covertly attempting to shape public opinion by searching online for articles, blogs or other entries critical of the Administration and then anonymously, or through the use of a pseudonym, posting comments to those sites attacking the author or contents.61

The blogging and campaign communities refer to this propaganda tactic as “astroturfing.”62 Astroturfing is the action of using fake and anonymous postings on message boards and blogs to push a point of view or to create the appearance of grassroots support for a particular agenda.63

Further more, this whole idea that if you do not adhere to some rabid Zionist doctrine or if you do not support rabid Zionist causes; makes you a supporter of jihad —— smacks of something that almost destroyed the Republican Party in the 1950’s —— McCarthyism.

Let me give a open warning to the Republican Party or more specifically the Conservative Blogosphere and the Conservative media in general. If you embrace this sort of Anti-Liberty nonsense and you use the tactic of calling someone, who happens to disagree with your stance an Anti-Israel or a supporter of Jihad; your political cause will die. The Republican Party will not survive. Not everyone that disagrees with the rabid Zionism of the far-right is a supporter of terrorism. The sort of attitude of “You are either with us or against us” almost destroyed the Bush Presidency and they abandoned that talking point, some would say after it was too late for that Administration, but I digress. That sort of collective group think will never do a thing to further the cause of Conservatism. Joseph McCarthy found that out, the hard way.

I am a Moderate Conservative; I believe that any sort of political or religious philosophy taken to any sort of extreme, is dangerous. Further more, I am all for the fiscal Conservatism. I believe that “Tax and Spend” is NOT a good way to come out of a recession. But I will be DAMNED if I will ever, EVER, EVER side with those who wish to smear others who disagree with their religious or political agendas!

I never thought that in a million years that I would be siding with this Blogger. But damn it; he is right.

President Obama came out Friday evening in favor of the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at the hallowed ground of the 9/11 attack.

Obama told the ummah (at an Iftar dinner on the third night of Ramadan) that he supports a triumphal mosque on the cherished site where Islamic jihadists attacked.

If you had any doubt who Obama stood with on 9/11, there can be no doubt in our minds now.
