I have spoken with a reliable source telling me that a little over a week ago, Mike Huckabee approached the Rick Scott campaign and made overtures that his endorsement could be had for $250,000 dollars.
A heated exchange occurred between Rick Scott and his campaign staff whether to pay-for-play for Huckabee’s endorsement. Scott made the final call saying that, ‘we’re not going to have that kind of a campaign.’
My source is inside the Scott campaign and cannot be disclosed. Suffice to say they are on the payroll.
Once the offer was rejected, Mike Huckabee obliged establishment candidate Bill McCollum with the endorsement.
Katie Couric once described bloggers as journalists who gnaw at new information âlike piranhas in a pool.â But increasingly, many bloggers are also secretly feeding on cash from political campaigns, in a form of partisan payola that erases the line between journalism and paid endorsement.
âItâs standard operating procedureâ to pay bloggers for favorable coverage, says one Republican campaign operative. A GOP blogger-for-hire estimates that âat least half the bloggers that are out thereâ on the Republican side âare getting remuneration in some way beyond ad sales.â âŚ
One pro-Poizner blogger, Aaron Park, was discovered to be a paid consultant to the Poizner campaign while writing for Red County, a conservative blog about California politics. Red County founder Chip Hanlon threw Park off the site upon discovering his affiliation, which had not been disclosed.
Poiznerâs campaign was shocked to learn of the arrangement, apparently coordinated by an off-the-reservation consultant. For Park, though, it was business as usual. In November 2009, for instance, he approached the campaign of another California office-seeker â Chuck DeVore, who was then running for Senate â with an offer to blog for money.
âI can be retained at a quite reasonable rate or for âprojects,ââ Park wrote in an e-mail to campaign officials. In an interview, Park defended himself by claiming, ânobody has any doubt which candidates Iâm supporting,â and noting that his blog specifies which candidates he âendorses.â
But while Red Countyâs Hanlon expressed outrage at Parkâs pay-for-blogging scheme, questions arose about his own editorial independence when it emerged that Red County itself had been taking money from the Whitman campaign.

Dan Riehl, who writes the Riehl World View blog, is one of Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steeleâs most vocal defenders in the conservative blogosphere. When The Daily Caller reported the RNC spent $1,946 at a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex acts, Riehl blasted the piece as a âpathetically weak story tailored to play to the Left and create problems for the GOP.â
âRiehl World Viewâ readers might be interested to know that Riehl is not simply a blogger, but also a paid consultant to the RNC. In an interview, Riehl said he was paid an amount in the âhundreds of dollarsâ for writing a strategy documenton how the RNC could better reach out to bloggers. Riehl said his motivation for defending Steele was to aid the Republican Party, and that he didnât disclose his consulting work because, âI didnât see it as having anything to do with my views.â
âI never made enough money to be bought,â he said.
Other bloggers openly lament how few campaign dollars are flowing their way. Conservative blogger Robert Stacy McCain complains that politicians arenât purchasing more advertising on blogs. âAdvertising buys good will,â he says.
There we have the huge difference between myself and many of the other Bloggers out there. Advertising on my blog, will NOT buy my good will. Because basically, when someone pays you to say nice things about them, you become something, that I feel goes totally against what is known as a free, independent press. A propagandist. You ask, “But isn’t a political blogger, a propagandist?” Not Hardly. There is a difference between having a political opinion or position; and being bought off by a political party or a candidate to write favorable for them or cover a candidate’s event and write favorable about it. One is an honorable position, whether it be left or right; the other is corrupt. There are those who do it, and it sickens me. It bastardizes the political Blogosphere and robs it of any credibility.
The only sort of postings on this blog, that I will ever do, are “sponsored” postings. A perfect example, would be found here, where I post a snippet of a blog posting and then send the reader to a site to sign up for stock and gold investment tips. So, far, I have not been paid for that; I get paid, if enough people sign up for the service and I clearly mark the post as a “Sponsored Posting.” Further more, that sort of thing does not buy “my opinion” on anything, least of investing, because I know exactly “Jack Crap” about it. I admit it, I do it for the money.
However, when it comes to my opinions on politics, no money has ever, nor will it ever buy me out, ever. I have been known to, and will continue to turn fire on Conservatives, Christians, and Republicans. I even once took on Matt Drudge, not that he ever knew about it; but I still did! Also, Of course, I will also criticize, berate, and mock the Socialist, Progressive, Far-left in thisCountry; which is why this Blog was started. Of course, I do not always hammer President Obama, I have been known to Praise Obama, when I thought he deserved it. However, when I thought the President was wrong, I also wrote about it. I have also criticized the Iraq War from day one as well. One will also note, that I have been VERY critical of the Conservative movement’s darling, Sarah Palin.
Anyhow, I believe that this clearly shows, that I am not a biased blogger and that I am not a Partisan Blogger. However, I am someone with an opinion, an open mind, and a Blog.

Any other time, I would not give two flips about something like this; but seeing the news that I saw last night. Um, I am a bit inclined to be a bit worried.
TEHRAN â Thirty-six years after construction began under the shah, Iran finally opened its first nuclear power plant at a ceremony on Saturday.
Attended by senior officials from Iran and Russia, which helped build the plant, the ceremony marked the beginning of the transfer of low-enriched uranium fuel rods from a storage site into the plant. Officials of both countries said that Saturdayâs events signified the opening, not the startup, of the plant near Bushehr, in southern Iran.
The plant itself is not controversial, because the Russians plan to provide fuel for it and to remove spent fuel that could be used to make weapons. But the opening was sure to upset United States diplomats, who had encouraged Russia to delay it as a way to add to economic sanctions imposed on Iran because of its refusal to cease enrichment of uranium at its other nuclear facilities. Although Iran denies that it is using its civilian nuclear program to mask a plan to build a bomb, many Western countries are dubious.
Iran will continue to enrich its own uranium, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told the country’s semi-official Fars news agency on Saturday, hours after Russian nuclear fuel began to be inserted into Iran’s first nuclear reactor.
Iranian and Russian engineers began the weeklong operation to load uranium fuel into the Bushehr nuclear power plant, a major milestone as Tehran forges ahead with its atomic program despite U.N. sanctions.
Last week, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters the United States felt that the fact that the Bushehr reactor would operate solely on Russian fuel proved that “underscores that Iran does not need its own enrichment capability if its intentions, as it states, are for a peaceful nuclear program.”
Gibbs added that the Bushehr plant proved “to the world that, if the Iranians are sincere in a peaceful program, their needs can be met without undertaking its own enrichment program, which call into question its motives.

Speaking to a group of officials Ahmadinejad said, âThe jet, as well as being an ambassador of death for the enemies of humanity, has a main message of peace and friendship.â
The goal of the aircraft is to âkeep the enemy paralyzed in its bases,â he said, adding that the jet is for deterrence and defensive purposes.
The president championed the countryâs military self-sufficiency program, and said it will continue âuntil the enemies of humanity lose hope of ever attacking the Iranian nation.â
The 4-meter-long unmanned plane, dubbed the Karrar or striker in Farsi, was inaugurated on the national day for the countryâs defense industry in a ceremony aired live on state TV.
No details were provided on the craftâs capabilities.
Iran has been producing its own light, unmanned surveillance aircraft since the late 1980s.
The ceremony came a day after Iran began to fuel its first nuclear power reactor, with the help of Russia, amid international concerns over the possibility of a military dimension to its nuclear program.
Iran insists it is only interested in generating electricity.
Call me overly paranoid, But I don’t quite believe that Iran is just using that plant for generating electricity. I mean, a plant opens one day; and nobody is quite sure what fuel that they will be using. The next very next day, Iran debuts a unmanned drone, which can drop a bomb? Sorry, but I find that just a bit unnerving. Hopefully, someone at the State Department will see the story and go, “um, Barry?” and let the President know about this. However, I do not expect that the President will be inclined to do anything about it. I mean, after all, we did just get out of Iraq; and we are still very busy with Afghanistan as well.
It could very well be, that this drone is to basically taunt and a feeble attempt to put fear into Israel. However, I am inclined to believe that it will have just the opposite effect. Either way, this should be an interesting story to follow.
I just hope that the President, his Administration and our State Department are taking this as seriously, as they should be.
Further more, I do not expect the liberal media to get into any sort of huff about this either; as they do not see the threat of Iran, like those of us, who know what idiot leader of that Country is capable of; plainly, the man is crazy and is a Jew hater and there is no telling what he might use that drone for. If I were Israel, I would be preparing for war. Because it is quite obvious that this is what Iran wants.

I am going to be perfectly honest with you. I have been trying to keep an open mind on this subject and trying not demagogue this issue; but try to present all sides, as I am a more moderate classic liberal/Conservative person. I, like many others I’m sure, await to hear these recordings. I cannot wait for them to come out. Â I should point out, that there is video of this man saying that American basically created Osama Bin Laden. I have seen that; but this is entirely different. Again, I await these recordings.

Its Citizenship Clause provides a broad definition of citizenship that overruled the decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857), which held that blacks could not be citizens of the United States.

This is why that I happen to believe that Chuck Baldwin, nor anyone else of the “Old Right” in the Country have ANY business being selected to be the President of the United States of America. As far as I am concerned, as a Born-Again Christian, as feeble about that as I might be; I just cannot for the life of me, understand how anyone could hold to such a belief system as that, and call themselves a follower of Jesus Christ.
This, along with a few other very good reasons, is why I decided that the Paleo-Conservative circles were not for me. I want to be on the side that views ALL Americans; Black, Jewish, Hispanic, White as ALL equal Americans. That, my friends, is what TRUE Conservatism is about; and not that hate-mongering nonsense of the “Old Right”, which is why William F. Buckley went after well known Paleo-Conservative group named the John Birch Society in 1962. This basically ended their influence within the Republican Party.
However, to be fair to the Birch group, they did actually do a huge purge of people that were ID’ed as racists and members of the Klu Klux Klan. This took place in the 1970’s. Many people believe that Buckley’s attacking of the Birch Society was because of his being a “Neo-Con”, but actually it was because of the nonsensical conspiracy theories that were then touted by it’s founder Robert Welch. Also it should be noted that the Society does not promote and usually goes terribly out of it’s way to disprove these silly theories. I will also note, my beef is not with the actual Society itself, the John Birch Society was one of ardent fighters against the uprising of communism in America, after World War II. For that I am very grateful. Further more, I have nothing but respect for the man, of whom the society is named after; John Birch.
In Closing: While the some of the elements of Paleo-Conservative, such as the fiscal aspects of it might be noble; it is the racist and antisemitic undertones that do truly turn me off. Which is why I distanced and do continue to distance myself from them.
As I said in the previous posting, the Democrats are going to be basically running against Bush; while basically wanting him to weigh in on the Mosque issue. Can you say clusterfark?

Well, to that I say this — Obama is flat out lying as to who created the financial meltdown in the first place. As I have written here, like a million times. The Democrats are the one’s who created the ENTIRE MESS! With the creation of Freddie Mack and Fannie Mae, the community reinvestment act of 1973, the adding of the sub-prime clause in 1994. It all can be traced back to Democrats. Not Republicans, but Democrats.
Now, because I am a honest and non-partisan blogger, but rather just an independent Moderate Conservative Blogger, I will say that the Republicans, who were in the majority, did have a chance to stop the housing crisis and they failed to do so. That is a very valid point. But that does NOT take away from the fact that Democrats DID create the environment that lead to the housing crash or as it is also called, the housing bubble bursting. The very idea of social engineering is fundamentally flawed and should stop. Barney Frank himself is now saying that, as should many other Democrats.
In closing, let me simply say this; as a former Democratic Party voter, and as an independent voter. I will give the Democratic Party a grave warning: Run on this platform and you will be trounced in the Midterms. The American people are just NOT this stupid. You attempted and succeeded to pass a healthcare bill, that even people in your own party said, was horrible. Then you passed a stimulus package that has been, from all accounts, as colossal failure. So, in response, you are going to try running against Bush…again. I got four good words for you: Good Luck With That!
The American people know who created this mess and it was not the Republicans. It was you guys, Democrats. When you lose, you will have no one at to blame — but yourselves. Why must I write about insanely stupid things such as this?
I mean, is being a moderate Conservative automatically a mandate to sign on with the stupid now? What I am griping about, is this incredibly stupid poll out, which says that more and more people believe that President Obama is a Muslim. I mean the man’s Father gives to his kid an Arab middle name, because the man was a Muslim at one time, and everyone freaks and says, “He’s a Muslim!” or in some quarters, “He’s a nigger Muslim!” —- Depending on where you are, north or south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Yes, I went there, you are very welcome. Figure if Dr. Laura can go there, so can I.
Seriously, folks, I am honestly beginning to wonder if some members of the Anglo-Saxon race are not inflicted with some sort of incurable disorder.  I like to call it âNegro-Phobia,â White people are honestly frightened by anyone that looks, talks, acts, and even sounds different than they do.  This is 2010, I thought we were over such nonsense; after all, we did elect the Nationâs first black President. Nevertheless, this nonsense is still being polled about, talked about and blogged about.

I will not try to mislead my readers — at this point, I am seriously beginning to believe that Conservatives have officially jumped the damned shark on this little subject. I am not ready to official change to another political stripe or anything; because I have learned too much about the left, and much of it, I cannot stand. Nevertheless, this nonsense of accusing the first black President of the United States about lying to America, as to what God his subscribes to, is just very ridiculous.
Is this what the Republican Party has become?  The President of the United States, who happens to be black and have Arab middle name has a dinner with a group of Muslims. The President tells a group of Arabs that are visiting the White House, that this Park 51 site — has the legal, not the moral, but the legal right to build in New York City and that the United States Government will not interfere with this process — and alone, that makes him a Muslim?
Another example: The economy is not recovering as fast or a well as the Democrats had hoped and that somehow means that President Obama is some sort cryptic-Muslim socialist that wants to overthrow the capitalistic system in America, and introduce us to Sharia law and Communism.
Do not laugh; I have heard such stuff out of the mouth of Glenn Beck himself and from other well-known Conservative Bloggers.
If this all somehow sounds familiar to some of my older readers, it should, the same very thing was said about President John F. Kennedy. There were actually Conservatives and yes, some Democrats who were going around shrieking that Kennedy would be taking orders from Rome. You see, Kennedy was Catholic and back in those days, a Catholic had never served as President of the United States. In fact, the issue got so bad, that Kennedy had to address the Southern Baptist Convention in 1960 to convince them and the rest of America that he would not be taking orders from Rome.
Fortunately, back then, it worked.

Look, I am going to make an admission to you all. I did not create this blog to attempt to destroy President Obama.  I started this blog to criticize the President of the United States on his policies, when I thought that they were wrong, dumb, and misguided, and I will continue to do so. However, what I will not partake in is the silly idiotic partisan rumormongering that is not based on facts.

I will not partake in this stupidity and if this is, what is required to be in with the âCool Kidsâ in Conservative blogger, then by all means, count me is an outsider — Because I want nothing to do with this sort of stupidity.

New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedlyclimbed to a nine-month high last week, yet another setback to the frail economic recovery.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 500,000 in the week ended August 14, the highest since mid-November, the Labor Department said on Thursday.
Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast claims slipping to 476,000 from the previously reported 484,000 the prior week, which was revised up to 488,000 in Thursday’s report.
A Labor Department official said there was nothing unusual in the state level data. The data covered the survey week for the government’s closely watched employment report for August, scheduled for release early next month.
“There are some technical factors out there and the seasonal factors seem to be pushing it up a little bit. But given the trend of claims it looks like the economy ran into a wall in August,” said Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at Bank of Tokyo-MitsubishI UFJ in New York.
Unexpectedly? To protect the civilians in a country that is still home to insurgents with Al Qaeda and Iranian-backed militias, the State Department is planning to more than double its private security guards, up to about 7,000, according to administration officials who disclosed new details of the plan. Defending five fortified compounds across the country, the security contractors would operate radars to warn of enemy rocket attacks, search for roadside bombs, fly reconnaissance drones and even staff quick reaction forces to come to the aid of civilians in distress, the officials saidâŚ
The departmentâs plans to rely on 6,000 to 7,000 security contractors, who are also expected to form âquick reaction forcesâ to rescue civilians in trouble, is a sensitive issue, given Iraqi fury about shootings of civilians by American private guards in recent years. Administration officials said that security contractors would have no special immunity and would be required to register with the Iraqi government. In addition, one of the State Departmentâs regional security officers, agents who oversee security at diplomatic outposts, will be required to approve and accompany every civilian convoy, providing additional oversight.

And now, for a special comment from me, your humble host, about the ending of this long seven year war.
I think I can speak for the great majority of America — I am just damned glad it is finally done, over, finished. For seven long years, our Nation sat, rent asunder, divided over what could possibly be called the biggest blunder that a Presidential Administration, not to mention a Nation, a Congress, and Country could ever have pulled off — A decision to go to war with a Country based upon now what is now known as horrifically flawed intelligence.  Without over simplifying it and at the risk of sounding like a far-leftist Liberal —- Oops, we blew it and blew it bad —– Because of this very idiotic blunder, 4415 of our Nationâs finest young men and woman, ended up going to a damned meat grinder and losing their lives. For a war, that had absolutely nothing, zero, nada to do with the attacks on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and on Flight 93 that the Government claims was on the way to the White House on September 11, 2001.  In short and quite bluntly, we screwed the pooch on that one, and whole bunch of Military people were killed.
I say the word âClaims,â because the United States Government has not exactly been very forthcoming about all of the evidence that they have, which supports the claims made by the Government about what really happened on 9/11. Now, before anyone begins to think it; no, I am not a 9/11 âtruther.â No more, than I am a far leftist or even a damned Republican. However, I will say to you that I do not trust my Government. Because to blindly trust the Government is to never question what they say to you; and to never question or challenge is to be a slave or a servant; and the last time I checked, I am not, nor have I ever been, a slave to anyone or a servant of anyone, save the Lord Jesus Christ. That even that I readily admit to being quite lousy at doing, at times.
Having said all that let me say this:
We won.
No thanks, of course, to the Democratic Party, The libertarian leftists, The Ron Paul people, The Pat Buchanan types, The Paleo-Conservatives in General, the far-leftists, and the liberal, owned, controlled, and financed media in this God-forsaken Country of ours.
However, all praise, honor and any sort of decree is to be given to the United States Armed Forces. They simply kicked Al-Qaedaâs ass in Iraq. The US Military smoked them damned towel heads from one end of Iraq to the other. Most of their dead bodies are in Iraqi Cemeteries; which is a good place for them, if you ask me.
Personally, I am glad this conflict is over. I am also glad, that we actually won. There was no Vietnam-like ending, we left victorious.
We won.
In the future, we should be much more careful.
We also should remember those who did not make it out alive.
However, today, we dance, we rejoice.
Because tomorrow, we go back to work and we finish the damned job on the war on terror.

I mention this because I happen to believe that this crazy idea, that Social Conservatism and Conservative Christian-ism of the era of Ronald Reagan, is going to become a mainstay in the Republican ever again —- is absolutely insane. There is just no way that this will ever happen. Christianity anymore, among the American people, is a damaged brand. There have been just too many scandals in those circles. The powerful Conservative Christian right coalition formed under Ronald Reagan fell apart many, many years ago. There are many theories as to why this happened, and I really do not have the time to expound on this. But I will say, that many of the players of the evangelical world that existed during that time, simply do not exist any longer. Plus, attitudes among many Conservative Christians of today have changed. Gone are the feelings that Conservative Christians must rule the World — They tried that, and they failed.….badly. Most Conservative Christians today simply want to enjoy their Religion in peace, without fear of the Government.
So, while I can appreciate Joseph Farah and his feelings. I simply believe that he is wrong here. I believe Ann Coulter should formally separate herself from this man and request that her column not be published by this site any longer. Because it is quite obvious, that she and Joe Farah are no longer on the same page.

There’s a new argument emerging among supporters of the Ground Zero mosque. Distressed by President Obama’s waffling on the issue, they’re calling on former President George W. Bush to announce his support for the project, because in this case Bush understands better than Obama the connection between the war on terror and the larger question of America’s relationship with Islam. It’s an extraordinary change of position for commentators who long argued that Bush had done grievous harm to America’s image in the Muslim world and that Obama represented a fresh start for the United States. Nevertheless, they are now seeing a different side of the former president.
“It’s time for W. to weigh in,” writes the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd. Bush, Dowd explains, understands that “you can’t have an effective war against the terrorists if it is a war on Islam.” Dowd finds it “odd” that Obama seems less sure on that matter. But to set things back on the right course, she says, “W. needs to get his bullhorn back out” — a reference to Bush’s famous “the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!” speech at Ground Zero on September 14, 2001.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the conservative talk radio commentator under fire for repeatedly using a racial epithet, announced on Tuesday that she was ending her long-running radio show.
Dr. Schlessinger made the announcement on Tuesday night on âLarry King Live,â saying she made a decision not to renew her contract when it expires at the end of the year and suggesting that she did not want her opinions and language, however provocative, to be muzzled.
But she stressed that she was not retiring, only ending her show, and would continue to write books and appear at speaking engagements.âI want to regain my First Amendment rights,â she said. âI want to be able to say whatâs on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. Iâm sort of done with that.â
âIâm not quitting,â she told Larry King. âI feel energized actually â stronger and freer to say the things that I believe need to be said for people in this country.â
The end of her radio career (in January when her contract concludes) is the result of her own ugliness on-air with a caller last week who asked “Dr. Laura” about the use of racially charged language. Schlessinger used the N-word 11 repeatedly in her answer, and listening to the tape, I was shocked by the aggression that I could hear building in Schlessinger’s voice. She was using the word as a weapon.
Some of my colleagues have used the glib phrase “she lost it” to describe Schlessinger’s comments in that exchange, but I think it was almost the opposite: I think perhaps she was letting her speech connect to some deep seated feelings she had, and that is what made her words all the more troubling to me.
Ed Morrissey, while not so personally critical, does point out the obvious:
If Schlessinger feels that getting paid to talk puts too much restriction on her broadcast content, that may well be a legitimate point, but as noted above, broadcasting is only one of several means available to her in commercializing her speech. Besides, the First Amendment doesnât confer the right to profit from speech, only the right to speak. It isnât an entitlement to publication. It also means that people can speak out and disagree with what Schlessinger says, even if she sees that speech as an âattackâ on her, her sponsors, and her affiliates. Itâs a little late in the game to suddenly get sensitive about criticism, and just a little hypocritical to cast it as an âattackâ while demanding the supposed return of her First Amendment rights.
Schlessinger offered a full apology for her remarks, calling them âwrong.â She didnât evade responsibility for them, nor did she offer the âIâm sorry if anyone was offendedâ non-apology apology. Schlessinger should have stopped there, instead of making herself into a First Amendment martyr when she has never had an issue of being âsilencedâ or having those rights taken from her. Even those of us who work daily in the First Amendment space seem to need reminders that the Constitution does not give people the right to be free from criticism after their own exercise of free speech.
I have to agree with all of the above. I am going to be quite blunt and honest with you. I do not like this woman at all. Why? Well, I have to say, that I have problem with people who try an articulate family values, who come from basically broken families; further more, I have a problem with people who are not exactly honest about their personal history. The truth is, Dr. Laura has repeatedly lied about her family, her previous marriages and a host of other things. That is, until people, who were concerned that she was not telling the truth, did some investigative work on her and found out the truth. This forced her to admit that she had not been exactly telling the truth. This to me, ruins any credibility that you might have; I’m sorry, but if I am going to take advice from anyone, it  is going to be from someone, who’s actually coming from a background of ideal family values.
Lastly, there is the issue of religion. I am sorry, but Religion, to me, is not like trying on pair of socks. How any person, can sit on a radio show and give Conservative Traditional and yes, even Christian values; all the while not even being a practicing Christian or any other religion for that matter, is quite beyond me. First, Dr. Laura was a Jew, then she was not; the lady needs to pick a Religion and stick with it.
I am sorry if this sounds like I am being overly critical of Dr. Laura; I know she most likely means to do well. But I believe the she could do and be much better; if she would just be more honest and open about who she is. Plus, find a religion that she can handle and stick with it.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, called for an investigation of those who are protesting the building of the Ground Zero Mosque on Tuesday. She told San Francisco’s KCBS radio

“There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City.” (h/t Kristinn)
Calls to investigate the funding for those proposing the $100 million “Cordoba House” have fallen on deaf ears, though, as New York’s Mayor Mike Bloomberg has described such an investigation as “un-American.”
Ms. Pelosi called the Ground Zero mosque an “urban development decision” for New Yorkers to work through. Her remarks happened on the heels of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, parting ways with President Barack Obama on the issue. Mr. Reid suggested the mosque should be built somewhere else.
Heck, even the liberals do not like this idea! For all of their faults; and I know this personally, because I was a left of center voting Democrat at one point — the Liberals do believe in the first amendment. So, I will give them credit there. Anyhow, I think Nancy Pelosi ought to be checked, because I really do not think she is speaking with a clear mind or something. Because she just is not make any sense here. Investigate people for using their right to free speech? It just does not make any damned sense at all.
If you know a little history about Catholics in America, you will recognize that they were saying much the same thing 160 years ago with the first great influx of Irish immigrants. The myth that America is tolerant of other religions is belied by the historical treatment of Catholics and Jews in this country. While lip service is paid to constitutional protections, as late as 50 years ago, there were serious conversations carried out by serious people about whether electing a Catholic president would doom us to rule from Rome.

Workers at a General Motors stamping plant in Indianapolis, Indiana chased United Auto Workers executives out of a union meeting Sunday, after the UAW demanded workers accept a contract that would cut their wages in half.
As soon as three UAW International representatives took the podium, they were met with boos and shouts of opposition from many of the 631 workers currently employed at the plant. The officials, attempting to speak at the only informational meeting on the proposed contract changes, were forced out within minutes of taking the floor.
The incident once again exposes the immense class divide between workers and union officials, who are working actively with the auto companies to drive down wages and eliminate benefits.
A vote on the changes was originally scheduled for Monday, but was cancelled by the UAW after Sundayâs informational meeting made it clear that opposition was nearly unanimous. The new contract would, among other concessions, cut wages from an average of $29 an hour to $15.50.

âNo means no and thatâs it. We said no. We said no again. We donât want a contract. Close it,â auto worker Todd New told WTHR, a local television station. âThey get their regular pay,â he said, referring to the union officials, âWhy do they want to cut ours?â
âNo matter how many jobs we will have at this facility, they will be poverty level and many families will have to take advantage of government programs,â added auto worker Carly Burkhart Kirchner.
Auto worker Nick Ellis told local news station WISHTV, âYou just canât live on $15.50 an hour.â
Sorry, I got no pity for these idiots. I know my dad’s a union man. But, you know what? I’m sitting here, with no damned income, at all. Update: As a matter of fact, I just drove my 1990 Mercury Cougar to the damned JUNK YARD today and got $275.00 for it. Which is the most money that I have had since about 2005, when I had to quit my previous job — because it was making me sick. Anyhow, the point is this; I have not worked since 2005, I could not afford to piss more money away into that old car of mine and so I junked it. My point also, is this; there are people out there, like me, who are out of work and these idiot clowns are crying —- because they actually have to take a pay cut. In other words, they feel entitled to make over $20.00 an hour. I got four words for these idiots: CRY ME A RIVER! đ
Again, I say, I could and would love to work for $15.50 and hour and I could live quite well.
