Possibly the best thing ever written about the Park51 mess

If you know a little history about Catholics in America, you will recognize that they were saying much the same thing 160 years ago with the first great influx of Irish immigrants. The myth that America is tolerant of other religions is belied by the historical treatment of Catholics and Jews in this country. While lip service is paid to constitutional protections, as late as 50 years ago, there were serious conversations carried out by serious people about whether electing a Catholic president would doom us to rule from Rome.
I’d advise you to go read the rest of that. Rick is one of the more saner voices on the right — well, outside of me, of course. đ His point is VERY valid. There was a time, when the right wing hated on Catholics, Jews and anyone else, who wasn’t Christian White American. In fact, there are places on the web, where stuff like that can be seen now. Like HERE for instance.

Workers at a General Motors stamping plant in Indianapolis, Indiana chased United Auto Workers executives out of a union meeting Sunday, after the UAW demanded workers accept a contract that would cut their wages in half.
As soon as three UAW International representatives took the podium, they were met with boos and shouts of opposition from many of the 631 workers currently employed at the plant. The officials, attempting to speak at the only informational meeting on the proposed contract changes, were forced out within minutes of taking the floor.

Sorry, I got no pity for these idiots. I know my dad’s a union man. But, you know what? I’m sitting here, with no damned income, at all. Update: As a matter of fact, I just drove my 1990 Mercury Cougar to the damned JUNK YARD today and got $275.00 for it. Which is the most money that I have had since about 2005, when I had to quit my previous job — because it was making me sick. Anyhow, the point is this; I have not worked since 2005, I could not afford to piss more money away into that old car of mine and so I junked it. My point also, is this; there are people out there, like me, who are out of work and these idiot clowns are crying —- because they actually have to take a pay cut. In other words, they feel entitled to make over $20.00 an hour. I got four words for these idiots: CRY ME A RIVER! đ
Again, I say, I could and would love to work for $15.50 and hour and I could live quite well.
Jews, Propaganda and Park 51
Here is the main reason I will not use Haaretz for reporting news stories:
After weeks of heated debate over plans for an Islamic community center near Ground Zero – the site of the 9/11 attacks on New York – it seems Muslim leaders will soon back down, agreeing to move to a new site.
The decision follows a high-profile campaign against the project that included advertisements on New York buses showing images of the burning Twin Towers, an iconic landmark razed when al-Qaida terrorists flew packed passenger planes into them in 2001. The New York Republican party is also said to be planning a hostile television campaign.
This story, of course, is bogus, false, and further proves that Haaretz is nothing more than a Zionist propoganda outlet. Even the Jerusalem Post has a bit more integrity than these guys; but not much more. There have been bogus stories float out of that paper as well.
However, Harry Reid is now being quoted as saying that he wished that these Park51 folks would move the Mosque elsewhere. Of course, his statement is being met with anger from some of the left. I believe that this Mosque could become a thorn in the side of the Democrats come November.
Speaking of political issues; this whole Mosque situation has me a bit ticked off. Here’s why; if any of you all believe that the Republican Party or any of the rest of these people that are raising a fuss about this damned building actually give a flying frito about that building being built —- I have land to sell you in Texas for cheap. The truth is, these people, and if you’ll pardon my frank speech — these people do not give two shits about that Building being built two blocks away from where the twin towers fell. You want to know what this is all about? Making President Obama and the Democrats look bad; so that the Republicans, whom most of these bloggers, Conservatives and other people support — can possibly win in November. Further more, this man-made controversy is also an effort by said bloggers, who I will not mention, for fear of litigation; to feed this silly Meme that President Obama is not really an American citizen, but rather a crypto Muslim and a supporter of Islamic Terrorism in America and abroad.
The problem with that idea is this; the American people, specifically independent voters are just a little bit smarter than these morons give them credit for. They know when some deranged Zionist Blogger, who also said that Obama was the love child of Malcom X, is trying to feed them a line of bullshit; and they are going to vote appropriately, as they should. That is what steams me about this whole thing. These idiots, and that is what they are, idiots; do not care about the area, they only give a crap about thier personal and political and Zionistic agendas — which is to smear ALL MUSLIMS AND ARABS as terrorists.
It is, I am afraid, what happens, when Religion and Politics become entangled.

Robert Wilson, who as the bassist for the funk and R&B group the Gap Band had a string of hits including “You Dropped a Bomb On Me,” has died. He was 53.He died at his home Sunday in Palmdale, Calif., outside of Los Angeles. He is believed to have died of a heart attack, said Karen Lee, publicist for his brother and Gap Band singer Charlie Wilson.
Wilson provided the bass backbone for the trio, which also included another brother, Ronnie. The group, originally from Tulsa, Okla., first hit the charts in 1979 with the songs “Shake” and “Open Your Mind (Wide).”
They had their biggest success in the 1980s, though, with hits like “Outstanding,” “You Dropped a Bomb On Me,” “Oops Upside Your Head” and “Yearning for Your Love,” among others.
“My brother Robert was a bad boy on the bass,” Charlie Wilson said in a statement released Monday. “We shared a bond as brothers, musicians and friends. I loved him, and losing him is difficult for both Ronnie and I. The music world has lost a very talented man.”

Washington — Sen. Carl Levin was hit in the face with a pie this morning at a question-and-answer session on what should’ve been friendly ground in Big Rapids.
The Democrat from Detroit was speaking to members of the Mecosta County Democratic Party when a young man — who described himself as a student — began chastising Levin for his work on the Senate Armed Services Committee, which helps direct military and war policy.
After a few minutes of speaking at Pepper’s CafĂ© and Deli, a woman who accompanied the student to the event walked up to Levin and hit him in the face with a pie, a source with Levin’s office confirmed.
Big Rapids Police arrested the woman on assault and battery charges.

Since the beginning of the Obama Administration on January 20, 2009, ordinary Americans have financed and been exposed to an unprecedented number of public relations and propaganda efforts. Federal spending for public relations contracts rose to historically-high levels during the Bush Administration. Under one-party rule in 2009, the White House used the machinery of the Obama campaign to tout the Presidentâs agenda through inappropriate and sometimes unlawful public relations and propaganda initiatives. Congress buoyed the Administrationâs propaganda efforts by increasing federal spending on public relations for the first time since 2005.
The Obama Administration frequently used federal resources to promote the Presidentâs agenda. In many cases, the Administration relied on the reach and resources of federal agencies and their personnel to promote certain of the Presidentâs favorite programs. The White House also leveraged ties to the arts and entertainment community to embed propaganda in the content of television programming and artwork. These propaganda efforts violated appropriations riders and federal law prohibiting the use of appropriated funds for publicity or propaganda purposes.
The White House also used its inherent visibility advantages to multiply the effectiveness of websites containing misleading and controversial information. The White House used its resources to push visitors to websites that urge grassroots activism based on false and misleading information. The Presidentâs right to sell his policy recommendations to Congress and the public is not disputed; however, using the resources of the federal government to activate a sophisticated propaganda and lobbying campaign is an abuse of office and a betrayal of the Presidentâs pledge to create âan unprecedented level of openness in Government.â
Instead of facilitating openness, the public relations and propaganda activities of the White House have had precisely the opposite effect. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has historically deemed activities involving âcovert propagandaâ to be unlawful. In those cases, the source of the public relations or propaganda materials did not disclose his or her identity as a federal employee or contractor. Many of the Obama Administrationâs propaganda activities are unlawful because they are covert. Furthermore, several programs closely resemble those decried by Democrats and ruled unlawful by GAO during the Bush Administration.
This report examines several of the most visible public relations and propaganda efforts during the first year of the Obama Administration. Viewed collectively, these activities reveal an Administration better suited to campaign-style self-promotion than to providing transparent and honest leadership.

The World lost this man:
There have been millions of words remembering Elvis Presley. There are many opinions about the man. However, there is one indisputable fact. Elvis was self made man. Elvis Presley came from utter poverty and made something of himself. Unlike the so-called “Stars” of today, who essentially have their careers handed to them; Elvis worked his butt off to get where he was.
Sadly, Elvis was a tragic victim of his own excesses and is a tragic, sobering, reminder of what excessive drug use will do to a human body. It was, and still is a tragic loss to the music world and the entertainment industry.
There are many people remembering “The King” today. My thoughts are with them all.

Let me give a open warning to the Republican Party or more specifically the Conservative Blogosphere and the Conservative media in general. If you embrace this sort of Anti-Liberty nonsense and you use the tactic of calling someone, who happens to disagree with your stance an Anti-Israel or a supporter of Jihad; your political cause will die. The Republican Party will not survive. Not everyone that disagrees with the rabid Zionism of the far-right is a supporter of terrorism. The sort of attitude of âYou are either with us or against usâ almost destroyed the Bush Presidency and they abandoned that talking point, some would say after it was too late for that Administration, but I digress. That sort of collective group think will never do a thing to further the cause of Conservatism. Joseph McCarthy found that out, the hard way.
I am a Moderate Conservative; I believe that any sort of political or religious philosophy taken to any sort of extreme, is dangerous. Further more, I am all for the fiscal Conservatism. I believe that âTax and Spendâ is NOT a good way to come out of a recession. But I will be DAMNED if I will ever, EVER, EVER side with those who wish to smear others who disagree with their religious or political agendas!

This issue will be the death the Republican Party, if they are not very careful. They are giving the Democrats the talking point that they need to defeat them in 2010…and 2012. At this point, as much as it pains me to say it —-They deserve it.
Update: Seeing that no one seems to get what I am trying to say. I will explain it. What is happening here is this; the Republican Party is pandering to the irrational fears of the general public towards Muslims. Just like George Wallace did with the southern Democrats, when they pandered to the White people in the South and their irrational fears of black people back in 1963. It is the same hate, the same pandering and the exact same bigotry. The only difference is, one was directed at blacks and this one is directed at Muslims and more broadly toward Arabs.
I have seen all of the rationalizations for all of this nonsense, and it is nothing more than vary nuanced bigotry. Only difference is that we did not use Arabs for slaves and did not lynch any of them. At least not yet. But I believe if the Republicans had their way; we would be lynching them, all of them, for what happened on 9/11.
Now this is not to say that I am not aware of the danger of Islamic terrorism or unaware or unwilling to accept the fact that there are Muslims who wish to impose Sharia Law in this Country. I am quite aware of that. But there is a big difference between awareness and bigotry; and this nonsense here is nothing more than nuanced bigotry. Period.

Bush’s post-Sept. 11 rhetorical embrace of American Muslims and his insistence â always controversial inside the party â that Islam is a religion of peace. This weekend, former Bush aides were among the very few Republicans siding with Obama, as many of the party’s leaders have moved toward more vocal denunciations of Islam’s role in violence abroad and suspicion of its place at home.
The shift plays to a hostility toward Islam among many Republican voters, and it fits with traditional Republican attacks on Democratic weakness on security policy.
“Bush went against the grain of his own constituency,” said Allen Roth, a political aide to conservative billionaire Ron Lauder and, independently, a key organizer of the fight against the mosque. “This is part of an underlying set of security issues that could play a significant role in the elections this November.”
This past election cycle in 2008. I voted libertarian; for one, I did not like John McCainâs running mate. For two, I noticed that the Republican Party was running on a platform of bigotry. The whole using of 9/11 imagery during the Republican convention sickened me to my core. It was after this, that I decided that my vote was going to Bob Barr and not to John McCain.
Yeah, this issue is going to play a significant role alright; and that is to the sound defeat of the Republicans come 2012 and possible here in 2010. The truth is folks, that independent voters, for the most part; Reject any sort of Bigotry towards anyone of any race. If the Republican Party believes that they are going to win this election by stoking the fears of the people — they are going to be in a very huge surprise come November 2, 2012 and possibly even in 2010.
So, to the Republican Party, drop this agenda of bigotry towards Muslims and those of Arab decent; or there will be one less vote for the Republican Party come 2012 —- Mine.

If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive “cross-cultural engagement” and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven’t they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren’t you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson’s generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven’t they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as “hallowed ground”? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.

? Do you intend to run for President in 2012, or simply continue to milk your supportersâ hopes that youâll run in order to leverage lucrative Celebrity Speaking Gigs, Book Deals, TV Contracts and donations to your PAC?
? Should you decide to run for President, will Todd cancel his snow-machine teamâs financial sponsorship by Venezuelaâs Citgo petroleum group?
? Do you believe that running America would be a) more or b) less challenging than running your mouth?
I have a few questions myself:
- Do you ever plan on actually disclosing who is the actual Mother of Trig and what hospital he was born in?
- Do you ever plan on explaining to the American people and to the Republican Party, why you knowingly lied to the Republican Party about your daughters pregnancy?
- Do you plan on actually disclosing where all that money went, from all of those PACâs formed in your name? Like SarahPac?
- Do you ever plan on coming clean on the sexual escapades that you have taken part in, since Marrying Todd and the current affair that you are having now, seeing that you and Todd on are the verge of divorce?
- Do you ever plan on coming clean on the REAL reason why you supported the âBridge to Nowhereâ, before you were against it?
Until you do these things, Mrs. Palin, the only thing you can do, to further your own personal cause and the cause of the Republican Party, is the following:

Update: Well, well, well… It appears that I have invoked the ire of some of the Sarah Palin fan boys from within the Conservative Blogosphere. Well, fire away boys. I never liked Sarah Palin ever. Sarah Palin lost me the minute she went to the Republican convention and talked this mean game and then it came out that her daughter was knocked up. Sorry, I do not like liars and that is what she is. A big, fat, God Damned Liar. Further more, I dislike this woman, because she runs on a Spirit, a Spirit mind you; it is never spoken —–That somehow this woman is entitled to be President, because she is a woman. That is the same damned bunch of bullshit, that Hillary ran on, and I was opposed to it and I am opposed to it now with Sarah Palin. My opposition to gender entitlement within politics is NOT based upon partisan affiliation. I am quite the non-partisan blogger and I call it like I see it. If that bothers you, then this is not your blog to read.
The ONLY thing that I will EVER believe that Sarah Palin is even remotely entitled to be is a Mother to her Children and a Wife to her Husband. Everything else, she has to EARN, just like everyone else. Having said that; as far as I am concerned, she has not earned a damn thing in my book. She was a failure as a Governor of Alaska, and now, she is demonstrating that she is nothing more than a carnival barker for the uneducated, and quite simple-minded far right.

Media Attacks President Obama for actually making sense
I never thought that I would ever have to defend a President for actually making sense. But then again, I never thought I would be blogging about politics either! Much less, writing on a blog defending Conservative and sometimes even Conservative Christian values. My friends, strange days are upon us.
Anyhow, yesterday, the President made a speech, basically speaking to the Muslim people and to the bigoted Americans who believe that Muslim should be outlawed from building their houses of worship or basically even chased out of the Country. In this speech he said the following:
But let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country, and will not be treated differently by their government, is essential to who we are. The writ of our Founders must endure.
Which is a excellent statement regarding the Constitutional right of Muslims to building houses of Worship wherever they choose, as long as it is within the accordance of the law. It did not speak, however, to the wisdom or moral or any other sort of reasoning behind building a Mosque at or near ground zero. You would think that most people would know this. However, we do live in a âDumbed Downâ society. So, once again, The President is forced to clarify his remarks:

Panama City, Florida (CNN) — President Barack Obama told CNN Saturday that in defending the right of Muslims to build a community center and mosque near ground zero in a speech on Friday night, he was “not commenting on the wisdom” of the project.
Instead, Obama said he was trying to uphold the broader principle that the government should treat “everyone equal, regardless” of religion.
His comments were seen as step back from the support he appeared to give the controversial project during a White House dinner on Friday, though a spokesman for the administration quickly moved to clarify the president’s remarks.
“Just to be clear, the President is not backing off in any way from the comments he made last night,” White House spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement Saturday afternoon.
“It is not his role as President to pass judgment on every local project. But it is his responsibility to stand up for the Constitutional principle of religious freedom and equal treatment for all Americans,” Burton added.
Which is, of course, stupid; because the President is simply saying that they have the right to build the Mosque and Center by Constitutional Law. He was not addressing the moral or other implications. You would think that educated people within the media, especially CNN would know this. I can understand Fox News making a huge deal out of this; but CNN and even MSNBC? Come on.
The stupidity that I refer to, is the stupidity like this here, written by Ben Smith:
Obama’s latest comments are logically consistent with his words last night, if a bit less “clarion,” as Mike Bloomberg called the first remarks. And there are certainly two possible stances here: Bloomberg’s, that the Cordoba project itself represents the best of America; and Obama’s, that the freedom of religion is an important American value.
Obama’s new remarks, literally speaking, re-open the question of which side he’s on. Most of the mosque’s foes recognize the legal right to build, and have asked the builders to reconsider.
But the clarification is, in political terms, puzzling. The signal Obama sent with his rhetoric last night wasn’t that he had chosen to make a trivial, legal point about the First Amendment. He chose to make headlines in support of the mosque project, and he won’t be able to walk them back now with this sprinkling of doubt. All he’ll do is frustrate some of the people who so eagerly welcomed his words yesterday as a return to form.
Clarion? Seriously? Puzzling? Really? Maybe to some uneducated idiot that does not have any grasp of the English language perhaps. Look, I am a âRight of Centerâ Blogger, someone who is totally opposed to the socialism of the far-left —– and I understood his remarks perfectly. Perhaps this is a the new narrative of the liberal media, against the President, that he is some sort of a boob. I believe this is because Obama did not pander to the far-left and to get their revenge, the liberal media is now going to be after the President, in this sort of a manner. It is a cheap way to get ratings, but it does work. I suppose. Partisan hack types love this sort of a thing. But we non-partisan types find this type of reporting to be sickening. Because, mainly, it is totally dishonest and it exploits peopleâs ignorance.
