John “Mitch” Mitchell – Original Drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience – 1946 – 2008

Mitch01

I am, without apology or any sort of repentance, a diehard Jimi Hendrix fan. I just received word from my mom, that the last of the original Jimi Hendrix Experience has died.

From the AP:

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience of the 1960s and the group’s last surviving member, was found dead in his hotel room early Wednesday. He was 61.

Mitchell was a powerful force on the Hendrix band’s 1967 debut album “Are You Experienced?” as well as the trio’s albums “Electric Ladyland” and “Axis: Bold As Love.” He had an explosive drumming style that can be heard in hard-charging songs such as “Fire” and “Manic Depression.”

The Englishman had been drumming for the Experience Hendrix Tour, which performed Friday in Portland. It was the last stop on the West Coast part of the tour.

Hendrix died in 1970. Bass player Noel Redding died in 2003.

An employee at Portland’s Benson Hotel called police after discovering Mitchell’s body.

Erin Patrick, a deputy medical examiner, said Mitchell apparently died of natural causes. An autopsy was planned.

“He was a wonderful man, a brilliant musician and a true friend,” said Janie Hendrix, chief executive of the Experience Hendrix Tour and Jimi Hendrix’ stepsister. “His role in shaping the sound of the Jimi Hendrix Experience cannot be underestimated.”

Bob Merlis, a spokesman for the tour, said Mitchell had stayed in Portland for a four-day vacation and planned to leave Wednesday.

“It was a devastating surprise,” Merlis said. “Nobody drummed like he did.”

He said he saw Mitchell perform two weeks ago in Los Angeles, and the drummer appeared to be healthy and upbeat.

Merlis said the tour was designed to bring together veteran musicians who had known Hendrix — like Mitchell — and younger artists, such as Grammy-nominated winner Jonny Lang, who have been influenced by him.

Blues-rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who is 31 and was part of the tour, said Mitchell was to the drums what Hendrix was to the guitar.

“Today many of us have lost a dear friend, and the world has lost a rock n’ roll hero,” he said.

Mitchell was a one-of-a-kind drummer whose “jazz-tinged” style was influenced by Max Roach and Elvin Jones, Merlis said. The work was a vital part of both the Jimi Hendrix Experience in the 1960s and the Experience Hendrix Tour that ended last week, he said.

“If Jimi Hendrix were still alive,” Merlis said, “he would have acknowledged that.”

During his career Mitchell played with the best in the business — not just Hendrix, but also Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Keith Richards, Jack Bruce, Jeff Beck, Muddy Waters and others.

Mitchell performed with Hendrix and Redding at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, the U.S. debut of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He also was member of a later version of the band that performed the closing set of the Woodstock Festival in August 1969 — where Hendrix played a psychedelic version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the band launched into “Purple Haze.”

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1992. According to the Hall of Fame, Mitchell was born July 9, 1947, in Ealing, England.

Terry Stewart, chief executive of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, said Mitchell transformed his instrument from a “strictly percussive element to a lead instrument.”

“His interplay with Jimi Hendrix’s guitar on songs like ‘Fire’ is truly amazing,” Stewart said Wednesday. “Mitch Mitchell had a massive influence on rock ‘n’ roll drumming and took it to new heights.”

Hendrix, Redding and Mitchell held their first rehearsal in October 1966, according to the Hall of Fame’s Web site.

In an interview last month with the Boston Herald, Mitchell said he met Hendrix “in this sleazy little club.”

“We did some Chuck Berry and took it from there,” Mitchell told the newspaper. “I suppose it worked.”

Via the Jimi Hendrix Official Website:

Mitch Mitchell, the innovative drummer who anchored the Jimi Hendrix Experience, has died at the age of 62. Mitchell passed away on November 12 in Portland, Oregon of natural causes. The London native had completed an 18 city American tour as a featured performer with Experience Hendrix, a series concert series celebrating the legacy of Jimi Hendrix featuring an all-star line-up of artists including his one-time Hendrix bandmate and dear friend Billy Cox. Other performers on the tour included Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, Robby Krieger of the Doors, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam as well as members of Los Lobos and others. Portland was the tour’s last stop and Mitchell had been staying in town for some vacation time before his planned return to England.

Janie Hendrix, CEO of Experience Hendrix, LLC commented, “We’re all devastated to hear of Mitch’s passing.  He was a wonderful man, a brilliant musician and a true friend.  His role in shaping the sound of the Jimi Hendrix Experience cannot be underestimated. Over the course of the recent tour, he seemed delighted with the interchange with the other musicians and the audiences.  There is no question that he was doing what he loved.”
Mitchell began working with Experience Hendrix, the family owned company established by James “Al” Hendrix shortly after its inception.  He had been featured in many of the documentaries and programs issued by the company over the years.

Before signing on as the drummer with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Mitchell had built a reputation through his work with The Pretty Things, Georgie Fame & The Blue Flames and had been one of the top session drummers of the time starting at the age of 14. His drumming technique was an amalgam of rock and jazz styles as he was heavily influenced by the likes of Elvin Jones and Max Roach.  He joined the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1966 and performed with Hendrix and bassist Noel Redding at their US debut at the Monterey Pop Festival in June of 1967.  He was also, most notably, part of the later version of the Jimi Hendrix Experience that included Billy Cox who performed the closing set of the Woodstock Festival on August 18, 1969. Following the death of Jimi Hendrix in 1970, Mitchell worked with producer Eddie Kramer in completing work on both The Cry of Love and Rainbow Bridge albums.

Prior to his music career, Mitchell was a noted child actor who starred in the TV series Jennings At School as well as numerous feature films. After falling in love with American jazz, blues and rock ‘n’ roll, he abandoned acting and devoted the rest of his life to music.
Mitchell was part of a super group known as “The Dirty Mac” that appeared in the 1968 TV special The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus joining with John Lennon, Eric Clapton and Keith Richards.  He later recorded and performed with bands including Ramatam as well as with Terry Reid, Cream’s Jack Bruce, Jeff Beck, Junior Brown and others. Mitchell is survived by his mother, his wife of 24 years, a daughter and two grand children.

Some videos in honor of Mitch:

An interview from the Movie “A Film About Jimi Hendrix” from 1973″:

There was an amazing ability of Mitch’s and that was to be able to follow Jimi Hendrix. Believe me when I tell you, that was no easy task; especially after the experience broke up and he did his new thing. Where Buddy Miles was more rough and tumble or the “Cement Mixer” type of a drummer, Mitch was elegant, a more formally trained drummer that seemed to always know what Jimi wanted.

So, they’re all gone now, Jimi, Noel, Mitch and Buddy… Only one left is Billy Cox. God be with him. All we have left is the music and the memories. I can speak for myself, Jimi’s Music, which included Mitch’s and Buddy’s and Noel’s Music; touched my life greatly. They broke doors down, took music to whole new level. They just don’t build them like that anymore.

Good News: Warren Jeffs indicted on new charges

In some very good news, the kooky leader of the FDLS cult is going to be brought up on additional charges.

Via WOAI Radio in Texas:

Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ‘prophet’ Warren Jeffs was indicted on felony charges for a second time today in connection with the April raid on the FLDS compound in Schleicher County, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Jeffs was indicted on a second first degree felony county of aggravated sexual assault. Jeffs was indicted in July on charges of sexual assault of a child. Both are first degree felonies which carry punishment of up to 99 years in prison.

Jeffs, 53, is already in prison….in Utah…where is is serving a ten year sentence on charges of arranging an underaged marriage at an FLDS compound there. He is awaiting trial on similar charges in Arizona.

Three other FLDS members were also indicted on Wednesday. One if facing a felony charge of conducting an unlawful marriage ceremony involving a minor. A second was charged with thre counts of third degree bigamy. The third was charged with three bigamy counts and one county of tampering with physical evidence.

Let just say this, that while I was none too pleased about the handling of that raid on the Texas FLDS ranch in Texas; which had many people, like those over at WorldNetDaily.com and NewsWithViews.com freaking out. I am quite happy to see that this sick, demented piece of human waste is going to remain behind bars for a  very long time.

While I am quite the advocate of freedom of Religion in this Country, when that Religion finds one at odds with the State and Federal laws in this country, something needs to change with that religion! Polygamy is a sick and disgusting practice, underage Polygamy is even worse, and I, for one, am happy that Warren Jeffs is going to be spending a very long time in a jail cell, where he cannot hurt anyone any longer.

Sorry, but I do not buy the whole persecuted Church people line. You don’t see the Government arresting Baptist Pastors for Polygamy, do you?

Memo to Michelle Malkin – Move on, please….

(H/T to HotAir.com)

I knew this was going to happen… I am again forced to criticize Michelle Malkin. (or say the stuff that Ed and Allah want to say, but will not, because they do not want to get fired!)

In this Video Michelle is carping about the way that the Sarah Palin was treated and because John McCain didn’t jump on the sofa like Tom Cruise and scream to the top his lungs, “The EVIL Liberal destroyed my changes of being President! and My former campaign staffers are trashing her now, shame shame shame!”

Here’s the nail scratching the chalk board video:

However, this is what I heard the whole time I watched it:

I think if women, Conservative or Liberal want to be taken seriously in Politics, at least by this writer; they need to act like adults and not crybabies when things really don’t go their way.

I mean Michelle criticizes the homosexuals over prop 8 and tells them to move on. So, why doesn’t she practice what she preaches?  🙄

Just sayin’

Creepy, Freaky and quite deaky!: Obama to appoint an “auto czar?”

(H/T to Michelle)

Full Disclosure: My Dad is a retired G.M. Employee and Union member.

You know, living here in the middle of all things Liberal, being a Libertarian Conservative is a bit, well; Odd. It does have it’s advantages. I tend to be a bit more Moderate about things. However, this one here spooks me.

This one’s via US News and World Report:

The troubles of the ailing auto industry are quickly becoming a major focus for President-Elect Barack Obama’s young administration. As Congress and President Bush debate an industry bailout, sources indicate that Obama may favor creating a White House office, headed by an “auto industry czar,” to oversee reforming the troubled American auto industry.

The Detroit News reports that both “Bush and Obama are signaling they may favor appointment of an auto czar to oversee the government’s efforts to funnel emergency assistance to automakers.” Congressional leaders and members of both the outgoing and incoming administrations have all said that automakers might receive federal aid only on certain dictions, including efforts “to further improve fuel efficiency and show that they have a plan to return to profitability. Automakers could also be required to give the government preferred stock in the companies and accept government representatives as board members. As in the 1979-80 Chrysler bailout, workers may have to make wage concessions.”

The press was unable to get direct confirmation of the plan yesterday. John Podesta, the former Clinton administration official heading Obama’s transition team, told the Washington Post “When we have an announcement about that, we’ll raise it.”

While I am bit happy to see that my dad’s 31 years will not be basically flushed down the toliet, because of incompetent managers.  The word Czar being used in the relation to Business, gives me the willies.  Least I be accused to trying to channel McCarthy; I think it reaks of Communism myself.

Could not they use another word? Like Commission, or Overseer, or something? Anything but Czar. 😮

I may just be a old paranoid weirdo, but Czar conjures up images of concentration camps, Nazi’s and all that sort of stuff.

Update:Gay Radio Show Host Who threatened Joe the Plumber Fired

(H/T to Malkin)

Remember the idiot moonbat queer radio show host that went off on some sort of crazy rant about killing Joe The Plumber?

It turns out that he has been fired from his Job. Of course, he’s playing the victim card. But he’s history.

Good on Station KGO for doing the right thing and firing that idiot.

You know, I have criticized this man and his Administration in the past, but I think him writing the book might just help. I did not agree with his decisions, but I do not hate him, at all. He did what he felt was right, at the time; we all know that the reasons he went into Iraq, were wrong, because of flawed intelligence. But in the end, I believe the Iraqi’s are better off. They’re free and not under a murderous dictator.

I think history might redeem him, although, he will be a source of hatred on the left for many years to come.  Either way, I think he’s just relieved to be finished, and considering the hell he’s been through, I can’t say that I blame him.

A New Look….

I’ve decided to go with something a bit different. I noticed that a theme that I absolutely love has been updated…finally, after many years of it not being up to date for the latest wordpress.

I may add a picture at a later date. But this is what I’ve wanted to run for a long while now. I needed a change of pace, badly.. That other theme was getting quite old. I promise. I won’t be changing themes every other week.

I hope you like it. 😀

In defense of Ed Morrissey

It is not everyday that I agree with a Republican. In fact, there’s quite a bit that I disagree with Republicans on.

I have had disagreements with Ed Morrissey, him and I disagree on the whole “Right to life” idea. I think abortion is a Moral issue and the Government should not be used to make moral decisions. Ed disagrees and that’s his right. Could you imagine how boring America would be, if we all agreed on everything? Besides, Barry Goldwater agreed that one cannot legislate morality. This is why he was not elected President in 1964.

Well, today Mr. Morrissey posted one of the most level-headed entries on HotAir.com, that I’ve read in a good long time. Basically, Ed advised Republicans and Conservatives not to act like their Liberal counterparts. Not surprisingly, some Conservative Bloggers trashed Ed for his position.

So, because I happen to respect Ed quite a bit. I’m basically posting a defense for the guy.

I happen to think, as an ex-left of center Blogger, as a now Moderate Conservative, as a Moderate to Right-Libertarian; I happen to believe that Ed Morrissey is one of the most level-headed and more “in touch with Reality” Conservative Bloggers out there. More so than his own boss. I respect Michelle, don’t get me wrong; but there are times when she goes a bit overboard.  I do it too, I get caught up in my emotions and say stuff, that I later look at and go “ack!”. It happens.

Anyhow, I just happen to believe that if more Republicans were a bit more like Ed, (and perhaps me! *snicker*)  I think a bunch more Liberals would believe that we Conservatives were not the crazed, Gun clinging, Religion humping, Bitter crazy people that they believe that we are now.  (or is it…. Religion clinging and Gun Humping??? Hmmmm…)

So, Please, leave Ed alone… he’s making sense…and Considering the position that the Republican Party is in, this is a good thing. Because nothing is more of a buzz kill and that’s a crazy minority political party. 😉

Shocking News: Gay anarchist group attacks Church

This is sick and totally disgusting.

The Story via RightMichigan:

This is what we’re up against.

On Sunday morning, amidst worshiping congregants and following unifying prayers that our President-elect be granted wisdom as he prepares to lead our nation through difficult global, social and economic challenges, the Michigan left declared open war on peaceful church goers.

They did it with banners, chants, blasphemy, by storming the pulpit, by vandalizing the church facility, by potentially defiling the building with lewd, public, sex acts and by intentionally forcing physical confrontations with worshipers.

This didn’t take place in some dystopian, post modern work of fiction and it didn’t take place in San Francisco or Berkley.  This was the scene at a Bible believing church in Lansing, Michigan.

[…]

The lefties were a part of a liberal organization known as Bash Back Lansing and their collection of radical blogs, including one of the state’s most widely read "mainstream" progressive blogs (and none which will receive a link on this website) called on "queers and trannies" from across the state and the region to converge on Lansing for what they refer to as an "action."  While many of the members claim to be anarchists (they drove on roads, ate non-garden grown foods, printed materials on products created by government protected free markets, wore clothing, talk incessantly about "organization," etc etc etc) their broader goal is stated plainly on one of their lefty blogs.

"I can tell you that we are targeting a well-known anti-queer, anti-choice radical right wing establishment."

Mount Hope, for the record, is an evangelical, bible believing church whose members provide free 24 hour counseling, prayer lines, catastrophic care for families dealing with medical emergencies, support groups for men, women and children dealing with a wide variety of life’s troubles, crisis intervention, marriage ministries, regular, organized volunteer work in and around the city, missions in dozens of countries across the globe, a construction ministry that has built over 100 churches, schools, orphanages and other projects all over the world and an in-depth prison ministry that reaches out, touches and helps the men and women the rest of society fears the most.  They also teach respect for all human life and the Biblical sanctity of marriage as an institution between one man and one woman.

…….and you wonder why I despise liberals so much?

This is obviously a sign that we as Conservative Christians are now at war. War against a Liberal machine that wants to destroy America and values that we a American and Christians hold dear.

But wait there’s more:

Their other props?  I’ll let them tell you in their own words… from another of their liberal blogs:

"(A) video camera, a megaphone, noise makers, condoms, glitter by the bucket load, confetti, pink fabric…yeh."

The video camera they put to good use as they attempted to provoke a violent reaction.  The image of the pink-clad folks above is one of theirs, stating in a picture worth more than a thousand words the goals of the Michigan left.

The "open minded" and "tolerant" liberals ran down the aisles and across the pews, hoping against hope to catch a "right winger" on tape daring to push back (none did).  And just in case their camera missed the target, they had a reporter in tow.  According to a source inside the church yesterday there was a "journalist" from the Lansing City Pulse along for the ride, tipped off about the action and more interested in getting a story than in preventing the vandalism, the violence and anti-Christian hatred being spewed by the lefties.  We’ll see what he files and what his editors see fit to print.

Do you now see what I mean, when I call the Liberal main stream media as the Marxist Liberal Media? They sat back and watched this Church getting attacked, hoping that the Church would lash out in self defense, they would get it on tape; then they could use against them in the media. A perfect plan.

My dear readers, it is time to stop being pacifists and start defending our own. There is a book, that I highly recommend that ALL Christians read, and that is this:

Someone’s gotta say it!

I am, without apology, a moderate. For most political matters, I’m pretty much cut and dry. But when it comes to personal matters, I tend to lean more towards a moderate, compassionate stance.

This is one of them matters.

I happen to be reading my RSS feeds and I was rather alarmed by the coldness and dismissive tone of this Blog entry.

The entry which I happened to come upon by reading Lew Rockwell’s Blog. Some smart mouth jackass by the name of Philip Greeenspun says, basically, “To the hell with G.M. let them go bankrupt.”

Mr. Greenspun, on the behalf of my Father, a 31 year G.M. Employee and Retiree of General Motors, Cadillac Motor Car Division; and a United Auto Workers Member and everyone else in both of those organizations, who have done more physical labor, than you’ll ever hope to perform; I personally invite you to take a long, extended vacation……IN HELL.

There are just some issues where my Libertarianism stops and my Americanism or Nationalism starts. This is one of those places.  😡

But of course: Now that she’s not a threat, they want to fawn over her…

(H/T to The Corner)

Over at My Way, they’re reporting that:

Gov. Sarah Palin hadn’t been back home in Alaska for a full day and her staff had begun fielding requests Thursday for postelection interviews, including from Barbara Walters, Oprah Winfrey, Larry King and others.

Palin had been expected at her office in Anchorage but later notified her staff that she wouldn’t show up after all. She remained at her home in Wasilla, located 40 miles to the north, but was expected in her office on Friday, spokesman Bill McAllister said.

“The intensity of all the interest is amazing. Everyone wants to talk to her,” he said.

Palin is coming off a whirlwind nine weeks of almost nonstop travel and campaigning since becoming Republican John McCain’s vice presidential running mate in late August. McCain and Palin lost Tuesday’s election to Democrats Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Oh yeah, now that she is not a threat to Obama’s agenda, the Liberal media wants to treat her like a martyr of the Feminist Movement. Personally, If I were Palin, I would tell the likes of Oprah, King and Walters to kiss my ass.

Of course, she’ll run the show circuit and write a book, and basically become the next Ann Coulter. Which is about what she’s good for, if you ask me.

Stop the Presses!

I’m actually agreeing with a Liberal! 😮

Booman at the Booman Tribune says:

I want to be clear that I do not expect, or even want, Barack Obama to govern as I would govern. However, if I were president-elect, I would be planning quite an operation on inauguration day. As soon as I was sworn in, I would demand that Robert Mueller submit his resignation. Then I would instruct the FBI to lock down FBI Headquarters, the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency offices, the executive suites at the CIA, the National Security Agency’s offices, the National Intelligence Agency’s offices, and management’s offices at the Department of Justice. I would tell them to put yellow police tape around all of these buildings and offices, and I would treat each as a crime scene. I’d have them preserve evidence from every safe, every email cache, every hard-drive. And then I would prosecute every violation to the fullest extent of the law.

Amen to that. I would do the same. Although, I tend to believe much of what happened, was not “ordered” by Bush Per Se, but by his Administration. However, I agree with the statement. There is no mistake, there was corruption and it should be investigated.

Way to go Joe….

Nice…. Joe Scarborough breaks the law on National TV and it’s funny…

Via Politico:

Joe Scarborough, on “Morning Joe” just now, was talking about the “steady nature” of Barack Obama, David Axelrod, and Robert Gibbs, and how new chief of staff Rahm Emanuel will fit in.

“These are good, decent, steady men that don’t go around flipping people off or yelling f— you at the top of their lungs.”

“The chances are good that Rahm Emanuel is going to have to become a member of the Obama campaign,” he continued.

Scarborough later corrected himself, saying he didn’t realize he said the full word.

“Great apologies if I used the word instead of the letter,” Scarborough said, adding that his wife was going to kill him.

Had this been Keith Olbermann, the right wing media would have been asking for his head.

Real nice Joe, a good way to make the Republicans look even smarter than they do now. 🙄

UpdateThink Progress has a better clip:

The reaction is hilariously funny. 😛

Kids…Kids….

Play nice

The election is over with for goodness sakes… Let’s work on rebuilding and not on the killing of one other.

…and for goodness sakes stop with the damned navel grazing already! 🙄

We lost, big deal, life goes on, we became the minority. It isn’t the end of the world ya’ll.

Don’t make me come outta this bunker…. 😛

How do you all feel about the Republicans loosing the election?

Think the Neo-Conservatives blew it for the rest of us?

Think that Conservationism is basically toast?

Anyhow, feel free to comment. I approve everything that’s not vulgar or stupid…

Reality Bites for the Neo-Cons

P.J. O’Rourke is having a bad case of reality handed to him.

Let us bend over and kiss our ass goodbye. Our 28-year conservative opportunity to fix the moral and practical boundaries of government is gone–gone with the bear market and the Bear Stearns and the bear that’s headed off to do you-know-what in the woods on our philosophy.

An entire generation has been born, grown up, and had families of its own since Ronald Reagan was elected. And where is the world we promised these children of the Conservative Age? Where is this land of freedom and responsibility, knowledge, opportunity, accomplishment, honor, truth, trust, and one boring hour each week spent in itchy clothes at church, synagogue, or mosque? It lies in ruins at our feet, as well it might, since we ourselves kicked the shining city upon a hill into dust and rubble. The progeny of the Reagan Revolution will live instead in the universe that revolves around Hyde Park.

Mind you, they won’t live in Hyde Park. Those leafy precincts will be reserved for the micromanagers and macro-apparatchiks of liberalism–for Secretary of the Department of Peace Bill Ayers and Secretary of the Department of Fairness Bernardine Dohrn. The formerly independent citizens of our previously self-governed nation will live, as I said, around Hyde Park. They will make what homes they can in the physical, ethical, and intellectual slums of the South Side of Chicago.

The South Side of Chicago is what everyplace in America will be once the Democratic administration and filibuster-resistant Democratic Congress have tackled global warming, sustainability, green alternatives to coal and oil, subprime mortgage foreclosures, consumer protection, business oversight, financial regulation, health care reform, taxes on the “rich,” and urban sprawl. The Democrats will have plenty of time to do all this because conservatism, if it is ever reborn, will not come again in the lifetime of anyone old enough to be rounded up by ACORN and shipped to the polling booths.

None of this is the fault of the left. After the events of the 20th century–national socialism, international socialism, inter-species socialism from Earth First–anyone who is still on the left is obviously insane and not responsible for his or her actions. No, we on the right did it. The financial crisis that is hoisting us on our own petard is only the latest (if the last) of the petard hoistings that have issued from the hindquarters of our movement. We’ve had nearly three decades to educate the electorate about freedom, responsibility, and the evils of collectivism, and we responded by creating a big-city-public-school-system of a learning environment.More at The Weekly Standard

One thing that O’Rourke fails to realize is that the polices advocated by the Kristol’s that basically were the foundation for the “Bush Doctrine”; were, in fact, the reason that the Conservatives lost this election in the first place. Yes, the economy was factor, John McCain’s rather stupid campaign was a factor, but one cannot escape that the main underlying reason for the ass kicking that the Republicans received in this election, and that was the FAILED polices of the Bush Administration and the many scandals that came out of it. Neo-Conservatives tried like bloody hell to spin the scandals, but the American people are just not that stupid. They saw spin and they voted accordingly.

Until the Republican Party literally casts out the Neo-Conservatives out of their party and gets back to the old school Libertarian Conservatism of Barry Goldwater, of which O’Rourke tries to rather lamely dismiss; the Republican Party will become a thing of the past. Neo-Conservatism of the Bush stripe, just does not work in America and in the context of a modern Democracy; It has been tried and it has failed miserably. Further more the Republican Party needs to tell the Evangelical Conservative Christian movement to tend to their own affairs in the Church, and stop meddling in the affairs of Government. it is this writers opinion, that one of the worst things that ever happened to the Conservative movement, was the inclusion of the Religious-Right movement. It ended up costing us the election this time and was more of a liability than an asset.

It is time for the Republican Party as a whole, to rethink their message or face extinction. For the good of the Republic, we cannot afford the Liberals that victory.

World News: Monks brawl at Christian holy site in Jerusalem

Just more signs of the times….

Via the AP:

Israeli police rushed into one of Christianity’s holiest churches Sunday and arrested two clergyman after an argument between monks erupted into a brawl next to the site of Jesus’ tomb.

The clash between Armenian and Greek Orthodox monks broke out in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, revered as the site of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial and resurrection.

The brawling began during a procession of Armenian clergymen commemorating the 4th-century discovery of the cross believed to have been used to crucify Jesus.

The Greeks objected to the march without one of their monks present, fearing that otherwise, the procession would subvert their own claim to the Edicule – the ancient structure built on what is believed to be the tomb of Jesus – and give the Armenians a claim to the site.

The Armenians refused, and when they tried to march the Greek Orthodox monks blocked their way, sparking the brawl.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said police were forced to intervene after fighting was reported. They arrested two monks, one from each side, he said.

My Thoughts:

For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD. I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them. Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD. We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble! (Jeremiah 8:11-15 KJV)

The Final solution:

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. (Revelation 1:7 KJV)

Even So, Come Lord Jesus.
