The Politics of Distraction

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not an expert when it comes to political debates. I do not have some magical ability to be able to determine how someone did or whether they “won” the debate or not. However, I do know when I see blatant stupidity. This is one of those times.

How does one compensate for when a presidential candidate loses a debate and performs poorly? The said person’s campaign screams, “They cheated!” as long and loud as possible to distract from that fact that said person did quite poorly in the debate.

Such is the case, in the recent “civil” Non-Debate between John McCain and Barack Obama. This was not even a debate at all, but rather a “supposed” interview between a so-called Pastor Rick Warren and the presidential candidates for President of the United States. In the interest of full disclosure, I have little or no use for “Pastor” Rick Warren’s type of “Christianity for Dummies” style of Ministry. I made it through half of a chapter of his book, “The Purpose Driven Life,” and quickly realized that it was nothing more than Robert Schuller humanistic theology made palatable for Non-Reformist Christians.

However, the issue here at hand is. Did McCain cheat? McCain was in a motorcade coming to the event, which hardly qualifies as cheating. It seems to me that someone who was better prepared beat Obama, badly. That person was John McCain. I will let it be known, that I do not support John McCain for President of the United States. However, for Obama to infer that McCain cheated shows that Obama is not someone who is even remotely ready for the office of President of The United States. He lacks the talent, He lacks the experience, and he lacks the ability to debate his positions.

Once again the magic one has been caught in a lie….

Check it:

One little problem with this little lie.

There’s full documentation on it, There’s a voting record on it, and there’s an AP article on it.

Transcript of the Lying Magic one:

Brody: I want to ask, I was back stage I didn’t see
the handshake, but I’m curious what that was like to be on stage with
John McCain and what was going through your mind when all of that was
going on.

Obama: Well, you know John and I serve in the
Senate together, so we see each other all the time. It was great to see
him. As he said, he’ll see me in a couple weeks. We’re going to be
debating each other throughout the fall.

Brody: Tell me a little bit about how you felt up
there on stage in terms of what may have been that, the hardest
question or at least the question that you may not have been looking
forward to address so much.

Obama: You know, I thought, Pastor Rick is a good
friend, he and I have known each other for some time, I’ve been to this
church before, and so I knew that he’d be fair and press me on issues
that are of particular concern to the Evangelical community, but I also
knew they weren’t issues that I hadn’t heard before and hadn’t wrestled
with myself. So, you know, one of the wonderful things about Rick is he
is somebody who, I think, has genuine good will towards everybody and
even when he disagrees with you, I think he’s going to give you a fair
hearing.

Brody: Let me ask you a little about some of these
ads that John McCain has been running not just on television, but on
the web. Let’s face it, let’s call a spade a spade, there has been some
Messianic references, there’s been some antichrist stuff going on, the
celebrity, they’re trying to pigeonhole you a certain way. Do you
believe this is being done on purpose?

Obama: Well of course it’s being done on purpose.
They’re not spending a whole bunch of money to make me out as a good
guy. They’re engaging in the kind of politics that I think we’ve become
accustomed to which is you try to tear your opponents down and you
engage in sort of slash and burn tactics. And very personal sort of
personal character attacks. And one of the challenges for us in this
campaign is how do you make sure those attacks are answered quickly and
forcefully, but also truthfully and that we don’t fall into that same
kind of tactic. And look, I think ultimately the American people are
going to understand by the time they go into the polling place in
November that this is not an election about me. This an election about
them – ordinary people, their lives, their hopes their dreams, the fact
that their incomes have gone down over the last eight years, the fact
that their jobs are less secure, that they have less retirement
security, that their kids can’t afford college, that jobs are being
shipped overseas that the tax code isn’t fair and that special
interests have come to dominate Washington. And as long as we’re
communicating an active plan to fix those problems then I think we’re
going to do well.

Brody: Real quick, the born alive infant protection
act. I gotta tell you that’s the one thing I get a lot of emails about
and it’s just not just from Evangelicals, it about Catholics,
Protestants, main — they’re trying to understand it because there was
some literature put out by the National Right to Life Committee. And
they’re basically saying they felt like you misrepresented your
position on that bill.

Obama: Let me clarify this right now.

Brody: Because it’s getting a lot of play.

Obama: Well and because they have not been telling
the truth. And I hate to say that people are lying, but here’s a
situation where folks are lying. I have said repeatedly that I would
have been completely in, fully in support of the federal bill that
everybody supported – which was to say –that you should provide
assistance to any infant that was born – even if it was as a
consequence of an induced abortion. That was not the bill that was
presented at the state level. What that bill also was doing was trying
to undermine Roe vs. Wade. By the way, we also had a bill, a law
already in place in Illinois that insured life saving treatment was
given to infants.

So for people to suggest that I and the Illinois medical society, so
Illinois doctors were somehow in favor of withholding life saving
support from an infant born alive is ridiculous. It defies commonsense
and it defies imagination and for people to keep on pushing this is
offensive and it’s an example of the kind of politics that we have to
get beyond. It’s one thing for people to disagree with me about the
issue of choice, it’s another thing for people to out and out
misrepresent my positions repeatedly, even after they know that they’re
wrong. And that’s what’s been happening.

Brody: I wanted to give you a chance to clear it up.

Obama: I appreciate it.

Brody: Thank you so much.

Sorry Barry, but thanks for playing… Might wanna brush up on your voting history a bit.

Update: Heh. Ed Morrissey lays the smack down on Obama. It’s a very good read.

My thoughts on the CNN – Rick Warren Debates

First off, I did not watch the entire debate on CNN. I caught about a little more than half of Obama’s questions and his answers and I caught all of McCain’s questions and answers. I caught the feed online. Overall, I would say that Obama and McCain BOTH gave the standard Republican and Democratic standard answers. Unlike some Conservatives who want to give their “Boy” a better grade, I will simply say they were both about even.

In my personal amateur political pundit opinion, there were no clear winners or losers. They both articulated their points well and answered honestly. Anyone who says anything other than this is quite obviously in the tank for McCain or Obama.

Whoa…: Obama’s Nazi Symbol?!?!

This is kinda spooky, if you ask me.

The Story: One Nation, Under a New Obama Salute – Washington Whispers (usnews.com)

George Bush had his three-fingered W salute that supporters flashed when greeting him at presidential campaign events in 2000. And now, if a Los Angeles creative agency gets its way, Sen. Barack Obama will see fans meet him with his own salute like the one above. “Our goal is to see a crowd of 75,000 people at Obama’s nomination speech holding their hands above their heads, fingers laced together in support of a new direction for this country, a renewed hope, and acceptance of responsibility for our future,” says Rick Husong, owner of The Loyalty Inc. Husong tells me that he got the idea after seeing the famous Obama-Progress poster by artist Shepherd Fairey. “We wanted to get involved some way,” he says. So, the agency came up with their own a symbol of hope and progress that also plays off Obama’s name. “We thought, ‘Let’s try and start a movement where even while walking down the street, people would hold up the O and you would know that they were for Obama,’ ” says Husong. Much thought went into the relatively simple idea. “You interlace your hands in a circle, the interlacing being a symbol of different types of people coming together and the circle a symbol of unity,” he says. Their design, unlike Fairey’s, is free, and Husong is urging people to download it and print it on posters and T-shirts. “We want to see it everywhere, but more importantly we want this sign to take the world by storm.”

Wanna see what the Symbol looks like?

If I remember correctly, there were a few other signs of Socialism…. Let’s see here:

From the Dept. of “Well, Duh!”

One of the funniest Political Blog postings I’ve ever seen. Identity Politics at it’s finest.

TheRoot.com asks, “Can Blacks be trusted to cover Obama?”

When a weary and jet-lagged Barack Obama took the stage on the last day of the UNITY Journalists of Color convention in Chicago last month, most of the attendees had already left. But there was still a healthy crowd of over 2,500 there to hear the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

That is when, according to the mainstream media, black folks apparently acted like natural-born fools.

As you all know, I am quite well known for my controversial remarks. It is what I do. So, I will not disappoint.

Saying that blacks can be totally trusted to cover Obama would be like saying that White Nationalists could be trusted to cover David Duke.

My Thoughts on the Keith Olbermann and Dana Milbank Split

Yes, I have seen Keith Olbermann’s entry over at the Kos. Overall, I think it speaks to Olbermann’s integrity in the business. Dana Milbank obviously distorted a quote for personal gain and that put him at odds with Keith.

The argument that MSNBC and Keith are in the tank for Obama is naïve and simplistic at best. That is the narrow view of the whole situation. Keith was just looking out for the integrity of his show; Keith knew that if he did not call Milbank on this, people on the left and the right would ridicule him. Therefore, Keith did the smartest thing possible, damage control. Keith held Dana’s feet to the proverbial fire. Milbank seeing that the world was against him, made a new deal with another network.

From reading the reactions, everyone seems to think that Keith did the right thing, and the Bloggers are saying that Olbermann is in the can for Obama; again, that is the narrow view of the whole situation. One Hillary shill thinks it was just downright horrible; however, this is the same moronic idiot, which claimed there was a Michelle Obama “Whitey” tape, which we have still not seen.

Obama’s Magic fades

……….and I could not be more pleased. 😀

Via McClatchy Washington Bureau:

Barack Obama has lost ground among some of his strongest bases of support, including young people, women, Democrats and independents, according to a new ATV/Zogby poll.

The Illinois Democrat has also lost some support among African-Americans and Hispanics, where his lead over Republican John McCain has shrunk, and among Catholics, where he’s lost his lead.

The net result, pollster John Zogby found, is a race that’s neck and neck, with McCain supported by 42 percent; Obama by 41 percent; Libertarian Bob Barr by 2 percent; and independent Ralph Nader by 2 percent. Another 13 percent supported other candidates or were undedcided.

Zogby called the results a “notable turnaround” from a July survey he did that showed Obama leading by 46-36.

“McCain made signifciant gains at Obama’s expense among some of what had been Obama’s strongest demographic groups,” Zogby said.

His findings:

-Among voters aged 18-29, Obama lost 16 percent and McCain gained 20. Obama still leads, 49-38;

-Among women, McCain gained 10 percentage points. Obama now leads 43-38;

-Among independents, Obama lost an 11 point lead. They’re now tied;

-Among Democrats, Obama’s support dropped from 83 percent to 74 percent;

-Among Catholics, Obama lost the 11 point lead he had in July and now trails McCain by 15.

Looks like the veneer has worn off of Obama and people are beginning to see that idiot Marxist Liberal for what he is. Not only this, John McCain found a campaign message that is finally sticking and is making Obama look like a total inexperienced buffoon. The trip overseas also did not make Obama look good at all.

Not to mention, like I said before, Obama played McCain’s hand on race, whether if he knew it or not. This did not resonate well with middle America, AKA White America. Not only this, general black population does not view Obama as truly authentic. This does not do him well, because he is relying on the black vote. If he looses the Black Vote and looses Middle America. We will be looking at another Republican President.

Personally, as a Libertarian Paleo-Conservative, the idea of another Neo-Conservative in the White House, makes me cringe. However, the idea of a Marxist in the White House scares me to high Heaven. I guess it is the lesser of two evils. That is, of course, you vote for a third party candidate, which we all know is basically tossing a vote out the window.

Not a Surprise, But…: The Obamassiah can’t even attack McCain without fudging the facts.

What a fraud.

FactCheck.org:

Obama released a TV spot saying McCain’s campaign got $2 million from “Big Oil” while McCain proposed “another $4 billion in tax breaks” for the industry.

The truth is that McCain’s campaign has received $1.33 million from individuals employed in the oil and gas industry, not $2 million. Obama himself has received nearly $400,000, according to the most authoritative figures available. We find the $2 million figure is based on a mistaken calculation.

Furthermore, McCain is not proposing new tax breaks specifically targeted to the oil industry. He’s proposing a general reduction in the corporate income tax rate, which Democrats figure would benefit the five largest oil and gas companies by $3.8 billion.

*snort* Never mind the facts, just tell the America people what sounds good!

However, the Obamassiah isn’t a saint either:

Both candidates accept
donations from individual employees of oil companies. In fact, when
Obama claimed in an ad last March that “I don’t take money from oil
companies,” we criticized him for being a little too slick. The CRP puts Obama’s total from oil and gas donors at
$394,465.

So much for Barry’s Honesty in his politics. 🙄

It proves that Barry is a lying, slick, Chicago Politician, who will say and do anything, including deceiving the American people, to get elected. He did it in Chicago and now he is doing it in his White House bid.

A little advice for the Obamassiah, if he wants to preach Hope and Change, he can start by telling the truth. He can also follow that up by knocking off the Al Sharpton imitation in his campaign.

Part 1:

Editorial: Honestly, When does the political truce start?

I have asked the question aloud many times here in the last few weeks. However, I have never really felt the need to write about this question at all. That is, until now.

America is a nation divided, Liberals hate Conservatives, Conservatives Hate Liberals, Moderates think they are both crazy, and Libertarians hate everybody. I mean, how much more can this Nation stand of this sort of a thing? It is about as bad as the McCarthy era, only worse. At least back on those days, there was a bit of civility amongst the people. Nowadays? Ha! We are fortunate that the readers of “The Nation” and “The National Review” do not have access to the Nations Missile defense system; otherwise, I truly believe that this Nation would be blown to kingdom come.

Keith Olbermann; A man that I respect highly, not only as a writer, but as a political commentator, made a comment on his show a while back, which was possibly one of the most brilliant things to ever come out of that liberal talking bobble head’s mouth, since I have been watching his show. It was, in fact, a short quaint statement; something that I would never expect to hear out of his gullet anyhow.

“A truce would be nice”

I do not believe that Keith realized what he had said. Possibly he did. Perhaps Keith is feeling what many people, I think, are feeling as well. When is the civility in Politics ever going to come back? When are Conservatives and Liberals going to be able to be around one another, without wanting to shout epitaphs at one another? When are things going return back to normal here in America?

I ask this because a few things have happened here in the last few days. For one, a writer, of whom I have a great deal of respect for, decided that the political discourse in America had just gotten to be a bit much and he stopped writing. Second, I happened to notice that a copyright law blogger, just decided that the whole idea of writing had just become too depressing and that he was stopping.

My question is this; has the political atmosphere in America gotten so poisonous that it has seeped into the general consciousness of society to the point where political writers and even non-political writers are just to the point where they are ready to just throw their hands up and give up? Has this President caused this? Has this war caused this? It absolutely boggles the mind.

I write this; not with a solution or an answer, but a question, what will it take? When will the return to normalcy begin? Will it be after the President has left office? Will it be after the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have finally ended? Will there ever be a day in this country; on this planet, that Conservatives and Liberals, Republicans and Democrats, and yes; even Libertarians will be actually able to exist in the same Country and be able to understand one another, but not necessarily agree? Is this normalcy even possible anymore? Did it ever exist at anytime in the past?

Martin Luther King Jr., his politics aside, made a profound choice of words once. Those words spoke of “of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into veins of people normally humane.” I believe that the President of the United States of America, in his misguided mission to bring Democracy to the Middle East, has injected the people of the United States of America with a drug of hate. A hatred of a War; A hatred of a war that no one wanted to be involved with, a hatred of war that was unwanted, unneeded, and very unjustified. A war that was sold to the Nation like a book sold to a blind man, only the pages in this book, were blank.

This hate is not visible; it is not much readily seen. However, there are times when it comes to this surface and rears its ugly head. Just this past week, John McCain’s campaign produced a political ad, attacking Barack Obama. In this ad flashed the images of two well-known white starlets and then an image Barack Obama. Yes, the underlying message was that Obama was in the same league as these women. However, on the sub-conscience level there was a comparison to be made, between White and Black. Barack Obama instead of taking that “Higher Plane” that Dr King spoke of, he allowed himself to be dragged into the hate game. He goes off and makes a comment like “I don’t look like those guys on the Dollar Bills.” Some people would say that Obama played the race card, which is a misconception, what Obama did was play John McCain’s hand sub-consciously. This all comes from that drug of hate, of which Dr. King spoke about.

What is the antidote for this drug of hate? That is a very complex answer. What we need is a truce, a truce that says, I do not agree with those who are of another political persuasion, but I wish them no ill will. Because whether we want to admit it or not, regardless of whether we are Conservatives or Liberals, Democrats or Republicans, we are all still Americans. This is our country and the quicker we all talk ourselves down from the ledges, remove ourselves from the battle stations, and try carry on a civil discourse, rather than the poison of the past. We will never be the nation we were, before September 11, Before the War in Iraq, before President Bush took office. Before everything went berserk in America.

That truce is looking very good right now.

*snort*:The Obamassiah tries to pull an Al Sharpton and the American people don’t buy it at all

Uh oh…. Looks like the magic one has lost his touch.

Via Rasmussen

Sixty-nine percent (69%) of the nation’s voters say they’ve seen news coverage of the McCain campaign commercial that includes images of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton and suggests that Barack Obama is a celebrity just like them. Of those, just 22% say the ad was racist while 63% say it was not.

However, Obama’s comment that his Republican opponent will try to scare people because Obama does not look like all the other presidents on dollar bills was seen as racist by 53%. Thirty-eight percent (38%) disagree.

Both campaigns expressed a desire to move beyond the recent flap. On Saturday Obama backed off the racism charge and accused McCain’s campaign of cynicism instead. He also rejected McCain’s charge that the Democrat himself had brought race into the campaign with his dollar bill comment.

Heh, I guess the American people are not as stupid as the Obamassiah thinks they are.

What Obama did, as the title of this message says, was try and pull an Al Sharpton and played the card, and for a change, it did not work. Good. Maybe the American people will finally wise up and see this empty suit, Marxist Commie Liberal for what he really is.

Meanwhile, David “gurgleboy” Gergen spins like a top… Says McCain’s video makes Obama look “Uppity”. Elitist Maybe, but “Uppity, Not hardly. Check out the video:

Disgusting: Wal-Mart commits voter intimidation

These people should be prosecuted. 😡

The Story Via Wal-Mart Warns of Democratic Win – WSJ.com

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is mobilizing its store managers and department supervisors around the country to warn that if Democrats win power in November, they’ll likely change federal law to make it easier for workers to unionize companies — including Wal-Mart.

In recent weeks, thousands of Wal-Mart store managers and department heads have been summoned to mandatory meetings at which the retailer stresses the downside for workers if stores were to be unionized.

According to about a dozen Wal-Mart employees who attended such meetings in seven states, Wal-Mart executives claim that employees at unionized stores would have to pay hefty union dues while getting nothing in return, and may have to go on strike without compensation. Also, unionization could mean fewer jobs as labor costs rise.

As a Libertarian, someone who believes in the individual rights of all Americans and as the son of a 31 year veteran of the United Auto Workers. To me, this is nothing more than voter intimidation. Wal-mart is dancing on the legal line here.

Wal-Mart should be investigated and fined, if it is found to be violating the law.

Stop the Presses! I am actually agreeing with a Liberal (For a Change….)

I must say, that I strongly disagree with the Statement of Ross Douthat, that somehow that this McCain video is racist.

Oliver Willis, of whom, has a rib tickling funny tagline of “Like Kryptonite To Stupid”, which I find to be absolutely hilarious. Says this:

I have to confess, I don’t think the overtones in the Paris Hilton/Britney Spears ad from McCain was about race. I think some on my side of the aisle are reading too much into this – the McCain people just aren’t smart enough to be that subtle.

The reaction from Democrats brings to mind an abused wife who now thinks of many/most men as abusive, without any evidence saying that. Dems have rolled over so much for aggressive Dems that the left is very sensitive to it. Then again, I’m okay with a more aggressive reaction to the very passive way Dems handled these things in the past.

I agree. I think Russ is kinda stretching this thing a wee bit too far. Even Andrew Sullivan does not buy it.

Like Mr. Willis says, I do not think that John McCain would be that blatantly stupid to toss a Political campaign into the wind, just to take a cheap shot at Obama.

Having said that, I think Obama’s continued use of the underhanded race card, which it seems McCain has just now come around to noticing is a bit foolish as well.

I think it would serve both camps well, to just get back to debating the ISSUES and not Race, Celebrity or any of that other idiotic nonsense, yes, he want to Germany and Iraq. Big effin’ deal, nail him on his politics and polices, keep this other nonsense out of it.

Real Smart McCain, Real Smart…

Is the people that are running John McCain’s campaign just terminally stupid or what?

Via Martin Eisenstadt‘s Blog:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems that the new McCain ad criticizing Obama for being a celebrity has ruffled some unintended feathers. I, for one, quite liked the ad, but I hear whispers from the inner campaign staff that the phone was burning off the hook today with calls from Paris Hilton’s grandfather, William Barron Hilton (co-chair of the Hilton Hotel empire), furious that the McCain ad drew an unflattering comparison between Obama and his own granddaughter.

It seems that the elder Hilton has donated $18,400 to the McCain campaign, and $35,000 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee in the last couple of years. (Paris’s father, Rick Hilton, has given an additional $6,900 to the McCain campaign. Suffice it to say, he’s none too pleased either.)

*snort*

Honestly, are McCain’s staffers even remotely paying attention? 🙄

I look for this ad to disappear, rather quickly, if McCain has any common sense.

“When Letterman is doing ‘Top Ten’ lists about something, it has officially entered the public consciousness,” said Dan Schnur, a political analyst from the University of Southern California and the communications director in John McCain’s 2000 campaign. “And it usually stays there for a long, long time.”

John Waver, Former McCain’s Former Strategist calls McCain Ad on Obama "Childish"

This is a bit of a surprise.

Marc Ambinder has the scoop:

With the release today of a McCain television ad blasting Obama for celebrity preening while gas prices rise, and a memo that accuses Obama of putting his own aggrandizement before the country, Weaver said he’s had "enough."

The ad’s premise, he said, is "childish."

"John’s been a celebrity ever since he was shot down," Weaver said. "Whatever that means. And I recall Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush going overseas and all those waving American flags."

Weaver remains in contact with senior McCain strategists and, for a while early this year, regularly talked to McCain.

The strategy of driving up Obama’s negatives "reduces McCain on the stage," Weaver said.

"For McCain to win in such troubled times, he needs to begin telling the American people how he intends to lead us. That McCain exists. He can inspire the country to greatness."

He added: "There is legitimate mockery of a political campaign now, and it isn’t at Obama’s. For McCain’s sake, this tomfoolery needs to stop."

On one hand, his opinion is legit, as I thought the "Celeb" ad was a bit silly. However, i have to wonder if this is just a bad case of sour grapes.

On the other hand, you know your campaign is having issues, when former staff members come out against you.

Barry Quips:

"You know, I don’t pay attention to John McCain’s ads, although I do notice he doesn’t seem to have anything to say very positive about
himself. He seems to only be talking about me. You need to ask John McCain what he’s for and not just what he’s against," he said.

Well Barry, for one, he’s against commie Liberal Marxist Negros like you.

Yet, Another Obama rap song….

Here we go again:

Lyrics:

I’m back on it like I just signed my record deal

yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
never should have hated, you never should’ve doubted him
with a slot in the president’s iPod Obama shattered ’em

Said I handled his biz and I’m one of his favorite rappers

Well give Luda a special pardon if I’m ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president

Hillary hated on you, so that b^$&%* is irrelevant

Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?

if you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!

and all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man

you can’t stop what’s bout to happen, we bout to make history
the first black president is destined and it’s meant to be

the threats ain’t fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
so get off your ass, black people, it’s time to get out and vote!
paint the White House black and I’m sure that’s got ’em terrified
McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed

Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw em like candy wrap
cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents
get out and vote or the end will be near
the world is ready for change because Obama is here!
cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!

Wow. Talking about taking every nuance and racial baiting stereotype and turning it up to 110!

Oyyy….

But that’s them Liberal Commies. Thank you President Johnson.

Of course, the Obamassiah’s Camp has saved face:

“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics
today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images
that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to,” said
spokesman Bill Burton. “This song is not only outrageously offensive to
Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush,
it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with
the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he
should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

That’s it, cover that black ass… We’ll see in November.

Save The Planet? How About Saving The Republic?
By Chuck Baldwin
July 30, 2008

Yesterday, the Politico quoted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as saying, "I’m
trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet." She was
responding, of course, to pressure that she and her fellow Democrats are
experiencing to suspend a congressional ban on offshore oil drilling in the
face of skyrocketing energy prices. It would be really wonderful, however,
if the liberal congresswoman could get as energized about saving our once
great republic.

Herein lies another problem: the vast majority of our politicos (from both
major parties) do not even seem to know what kind of country the United
States was designed to be. Virtually every reference made to the United
States by our civil magistrates is that we are a "democracy." That’s odd;
someone should have told our Founding Fathers, because they emphatically
rejected the concept of creating a "democracy" in favor of creating a
constitutional republic.

Has anyone quoted the Pledge of Allegiance lately? Does it say, "And to the
democracy for which it stands"? Or does it say, "And to the republic for
which it stands"? Of course it says "republic."

At the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention, a passerby asked
Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got–a republic or monarchy?"
Franklin replied, "A republic–if you can keep it."

Ladies and Gentlemen, that is the sixty-four million dollar question: Can we
keep our republic? Can we keep our constitutional form of government? Can we
keep our constitutionally protected liberties?

In Federalist No. 10, James Madison ("The Father of the U.S. Constitution")
said, "[D]emocracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention;
have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of
property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been
violent in their deaths."

The fear of what happens to freedom and liberty under democratic rule is
what prompted Madison and the rest of America’s founders to labor so hard to
create what they did: a constitutional republic.

Under God, it is allegiance to the Constitution that has preserved our
liberties, our peace and happiness, our security, and our very way of life.
Furthermore, it is the repudiation and rejection of constitutional
government that is responsible for the manner in which these very same
blessings are currently being lost.

Someone needs to remind Rep. Pelosi that it is not her duty (nor does she
have the power) to "save the planet." And by the same token, someone needs
to remind Senators Barack Obama and John McCain that they are not
campaigning to be President of the World, but President of the United
States.

What every elected officeholder is expected and required to do is very
simple: they are required to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution
of the United States of America. Period. End of story.

Our public servants are not charged with saving the snail darter or the
Spotted Owl, or saving the profits of the international bankers, or saving
Wall Street in general, or saving the perks of corporate lobbyists, or
saving Freddie and Fannie, or saving the peoples of the world from all the
bogeymen, or even saving humankind or the planet itself. What our public
servants are charged with, however, is preserving (saving) our
constitutional republic.

Of course, the problem is, the people who are charged with the preservation
of our republic are the ones who are the most responsible for its
destruction. The American people have far more to fear from Nancy Pelosi,
Barack Obama, and John McCain than they do from any foreign adversary,
because our leaders have proven that they have absolutely no fidelity to the
principles of constitutional government. They have no compunction about
eviscerating the protection of our freedoms, or about abolishing the
vanguard of our liberties. They are Machiavellian, making King George of old
look like a mere amateur.

No, I take that back. It is not our civil magistrates who are most
responsible for the destruction of our republican form of government: it is
"We the people."

At the end of the day, it is the responsibility of the people to govern
themselves. We must be willing to hold our civil magistrates accountable to
the contract they made with us, which is to uphold constitutional
government. It is our duty to "throw off" any system of government that does
not secure our liberties and protect our constitution. And this we have not
done.

Christian pastors and ministers have failed us. The "Religious Right" has
failed us. College professors have failed us. High School teachers have
failed us. Newspaper editors and publishers have failed us. TV news anchors
and reporters have failed us. Parents have failed. Friends have failed. The
two major political parties have failed. As a whole, no one is talking
about, or even thinking about, the loss of constitutional government,
national independence, and sovereignty. Few seem even conscious that this is
taking place.

Worrying about which major party wins a general election is like worrying
about whether Coke or Pepsi sold more soft drinks last month. Pick your
poison. One is just as bad as the other. Neither has any fidelity to the
Constitution or to the principles of liberty, which it represents. Both John
McCain and Barack Obama are enemies to constitutional government. Both are
in the process of sacrificing our national sovereignty to global entities.
Both men lied when they took an oath to preserve and protect the
Constitution. So, why should we care which impostor wins the election?

It is up to the American people to enforce constitutional government. From a
Christian perspective, it is "We the people" who are the "powers that be" in
Romans chapter 13. Under our form of government, the source of authority and
the source of legitimacy reside with "We the people." We are not the slaves
of any king or despot. Our elected leaders are public servants, not private
masters. In a nutshell, they work for us. They are contracted to preserve
our liberties and our way of life. When they fail, they must answer to us.

So, when will the American people pick themselves up by the bootstraps and
start acting like free citizens and stop groveling before these imbecilic
political parties? When will we set this political house in order?

Of course, all of this demands that each of us understands constitutional
government and the principles upon which liberty rests. It also demands that
each of us be prepared to do whatever is our personal duty to preserve this
republic.

Patriotism is more than waving a flag on July 4th, or singing The National
Anthem at a ball game, or wearing a flag lapel pin on Flag Day. For an
American, real patriotism means that we are willing to preserve and protect
our constitutional republic. Remember, Franklin’s answer: "A republic–if
you can keep it."

Nancy Pelosi can talk about saving the planet all she wants to: her duty,
however, is to preserve, protect, and defend the U.S. Constitution. And that
is also the job of every single American citizen. Unfortunately, most of us
are no better at doing our job than Pelosi is at doing hers.
