May God Bless Huffington Post for publishing this

This is a very interesting read:

Much has been said in the Cuban regime’s official media about my son Orlando Zapata Tamayo, a young black man. Many lies have been told, and it has been said that my son was a criminal, and that he was not simply allowed to die. The truth is that my son was murdered. The truth is that my son was allowed to die on a hunger strike he held to demand respect for his rights, and to demand freedom for his people. Today, I would like to tell you just who Orlando Zapata Tamayo was: a defender of human rights, and my beloved son.

via Reina Luisa Tamayo Danger: Zapata Lives!.

This article is a very good read, it is truly hard to believe that Huffington Post would actually publish that on a Liberally biased site. After all, are not Liberal Socialists at least sympathetic to the communist cause?

What saddens me, is that the Huffington Post actually advocates the kind of Government that this woman’s son died under; Big Government. Which is, in fact, socialism, which is, one step away from actual communism.

I think it took courage to post that, considering some of the comments on that posting. Which is not too surprising for that crowd.

One the other hand, Huffington Post did crop a photo of the President of Israel to give him devils horns. Which tells me, not everyone over at Huffington Post shares in the ideals of freedom for everyone; including Israel.

Living proof that socialist Liberals are classless assholes.

I present to you… Matthew Rothschild. That last name ought to make the tin foil hat crowd do back flips:

It’s July 4th, my least favorite holiday.

And I’m not referring to the bugs, or the crowds, or the traffic on the highways.

I’m talking about the mindless patriotic bubble bath we’re all supposed to soak in all weekend long.

Well, not me.

My heart does not beat faster at the strains of the Star Spangled Banner, much less at the sight of F-16s flying overhead to kick off the show.

You see, I don’t believe in patriotism.

You can call me unpatriotic if you’d like, but really I’m anti-patriotic.

I’ve been studying fascism lately, and there is one inescapable fact about it:

Nationalism is the egg that hatches fascism.

And patriotism is but the father of nationalism.

Patriotism is not something to play with. It’s highly toxic. When ingested, it corrodes the rational faculties.

It gulls people into believing their leaders.

It masks those who benefit most from state policy.

And it destroys the ability of people to get together, within the United States and across boundaries, to take on those with the most power: the multinational corporation.

Plus, it’s a war toy, wheeled out whenever a leader needs to improve his ratings by attacking some other country—often after invoking God’s name, too.

It’s been so since the Spanish-American War and World War I and right up through the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War.

American patriotism has also gotten in the way of solving global warming. Many in the United States, which consumes 25 percent of the world’s resources but has just 4 percent of the world’s population, believe we have the God-given right to use up all the resources we can. And there is an all-too-common attitude that we don’t need to listen to any other countries, or the U.N., or obey any international agreements because we’re Americans, and we’re better than everybody else.

We’ve got to get over patriotism, and we’ve got to cure the American superiority complex.

So celebrate the 4th if you like.

But as for me, between God, country, and apple pie, I’ll take the apple pie.

Of Course: Dem Bloggers play race card on unemployment

Man, pick a day to sleep in after the Holiday weekend and all sorts of stupid breaks out. Must have been too much Holiday for these idiot liberals. Because most of them are talking out of their rear-ends!

I will forewarn you; this is going to be a very long posting….

First up, we have Paul Krugman, who is once again, talking out his rear end about unemployment:

Wait: there’s more. One main reason there aren’t enough jobs right now is weak consumer demand. Helping the unemployed, by putting money in the pockets of people who badly need it, helps support consumer spending. That’s why the Congressional Budget Office rates aid to the unemployed as a highly cost-effective form of economic stimulus. And unlike, say, large infrastructure projects, aid to the unemployed creates jobs quickly — while allowing that aid to lapse, which is what is happening right now, is a recipe for even weaker job growth, not in the distant future but over the next few months.

In reality, here is the reason why passing unemployment benefits, is just wrong:

  • States provide unemployment insurance (UI) benefits to involuntarily unemployed workers. UI benefits typically replace 35–40 percent of a worker’s weekly income.
  • States normally provide UI benefits for up to 26 weeks. Workers in states with high unemployment rates may collect extended benefits for an additional 13 weeks for a total of 39 weeks. The federal government and the states normally split the cost of these extended benefits.
  • Congress has modified the UI program so that workers in states with high unemployment now qualify for a maximum of 99 weeks of UI benefits—almost two years. Congress increased extended unemployment insurance benefits to 46 weeks and now covers the full cost of providing them. Congress also created the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program, which provides benefits for an additional 34 weeks in all states. Workers in states with unemployment above 6 percent qualify for an additional 13 weeks of UI benefits, and workers in states with unemployment above 8.5 percent qualify for an additional six weeks of benefits on top of that.
  • Under current law, the EUC program expires on February 28, 2010, and benefits will continue to be paid until July 31. Workers who lose their jobs after February 28 will not qualify for the 53 weeks of EUC benefits. The full federal funding of the extended benefits program also expires on February 28. Congress will probably vote on continuing these programs before this happens.

Higher Unemployment

  • By reducing the need to look for new work, extended UI benefits cause unemployed workers to take longer to find new work. Heritage Foundation macroeconomic modeling shows that the previous extension of UI benefits from 26 to 46 weeks increased the unemployment rate by 0.22 percentage points.[1]

Subsidizes and Extends Unemployment

  • The consequences of extended unemployment benefits are some of the most conclusively established results in labor economic research. Extending either the amount or the duration of UI benefits increases the length of time that workers remain unemployed.[2] UI benefits subsidize unemployment. They reduce the need to search for new work and to make difficult choices—such as moving or switching industries—to begin a new job.
  • Roughly one-third of workers receiving UI benefits find work immediately once their benefits expire. This happens both when unemployment is high and when unemployment is low.[3]
  • Economic research shows that each 13 week extension of UI benefits increases the average length of time workers receiving benefits stay unemployed by approximately two weeks.[4]

Reduces Other Income

  • Families respond to unemployment benefits by reducing other income. Wives’ earnings fall by between 36 and 73 cents for each dollar of UI benefits married men receive.[5]

Ineffective Stimulus

  • Extended UI benefits are frequently claimed to provide significant economic stimulus. The studies that come to this conclusion ignore the effect of UI benefits in raising unemployment and incorrectly assume that unemployed households spend every dollar of UI benefits they receive. Empirical studies contradict both of these assumptions.
  • Heritage Foundation macroeconomic modeling accounting for both these factors show that for each dollar spent extending UI benefits to 46 weeks, GDP expands in the first year by just $0.17. Almost any other use of resources would provide a greater short-term boost to the economy.[6]

Negligible Wage Effects

  • Some analysts suggest that extended UI benefits should enable workers to find better jobs and increase their wages when they return to work.
  • Other analysts suggest that workers’ skills deteriorate when they are unemployed and, by encouraging longer unemployment, extended benefits will reduce workers’ wages.
  • Economic research finds neither effect—extended benefits do not increase or decrease unemployed workers wages when they find new jobs.

Go Figure: Ron Paul supports Michael Steele

Shocker? Perhaps Not: (H/T to the Daily Paul)

Ron Paul and Michael Steele - Two Brothers from a Different Mother?

LAKE JACKSON, Texas–(EON: Enhanced Online News)–Congressman Ron Paul today issued the following statement on Michael Steele’s recent comments that Afghanistan is a war of President Obama’s choosing:

“The American people are sick and tired spending hundreds of billions of dollars a year, draining our economy and straining our military. Michael Steele has it right and Republicans should stick by him.”

“I would like to congratulate Michael Steele for his leadership on one of the most important issues of today. He is absolutely right: Afghanistan is now Obama’s war. During the 2008 campaign, Obama was out in front in insisting that more troops be sent to Afghanistan. Obama called for expanding the war even as he pretended to be a peace candidate.

“Michael Steele should not resign. Smart policies make smart politics. He is guiding the party in the right direction and we are on the verge of victory this fall. Chairman Steele should not back off. He is giving the country, especially young people, hope as he speaks truth about this war.

“I have to ask myself, what is the agenda of the harsh critics demanding this resignation? Why do they support Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama’s war?

Big shocker there…. NOT!

These two ought to run together….on a Democratic Party ticket!

Living proof that spending the way out of a recession does not work

Well, looks like my job prospects just got worse:

The train that is the nation’s economic recovery has slowed noticeably, unable to generate enough jobs in the last two months to keep pace with population growth, much less reduce the vast numbers of unemployed Americans.

The United States added just 83,000 private sector jobs in June, according to the monthly statistical snapshot released by the Labor Department. The unemployment rate declined to 9.5 percent, from 9.7 percent in May. But that was a largely illusory decline, as 652,000 Americans left the work force.

Over all, the nation lost 125,000 jobs in June, but those losses came as temporary federal Census workers headed for the exits.

With the economy slowing — housing sales plummeted, while earnings and hours worked ticked downward last month — the stakes grow larger, economically and politically. The next few monthly unemployment reports will unfold during the run-up to the midterm Congressional elections this fall. Incumbents feel particularly precarious, and major economic decisions about financial reform, unemployment benefits, and aid to states still sit on their desks.

Think maybe now the Democrats will finally get it? Guess again. (h/t The Other McCain)

Quote:

“Now, let me say that unemployment insurance, we talk about it as a safety net and the rest — this is one of the biggest stimuluses [sic] to our economy. Economists will tell you, this money is spent quickly. It injects demand into the economy and it’s job-creating. It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name because, again, it is money that is needed for families to survive, and it is spent. So it has a double benefit — it helps those who have lost their jobs, but it also is a job-creator and so, uh, for that reason — for those two reasons at least — it should be passed, and I’m optimistic that it will.”
– Nancy Pelosi, July 1, 2010

Democrats, clueless as usual.

Barack Obama is among best presidents ever, but why?

Stupid liberals…:

George W. Bush was no FDR, but Barack Obama could be.

That’s the verdict of 238 of the nation’s leading presidential scholars, who – for a fifth time – rated Franklin Delano Roosevelt the best president ever in the latest Siena College Research Institute poll.

In office for barely two years, Obama entered the survey in the 15th position – two spots behind Bill Clinton and three spots ahead of Ronald Reagan.

Obama got high marks for intelligence, ability to communicate and imagination, but his score was dragged down by his relative lack of experience and family background.

“Most of the presidents came from elite backgrounds, and he certainly did not,” said professor Douglas Lonnstrom, who crunched the numbers. “He grew up without a father.”

By contrast, Bush’s dad was our 41st president, George H.W. Bush, who came in 22nd in the poll.

And yet, the scholars rated Dubya a dud as a president, ranking him in the bottom five at 39th place.

That’s a steep drop from 23rd place, which is where Bush ranked when he entered the survey after his first year in office.

via Barack Obama is among best presidents ever – George W. Bush not so much, say scholars in Siena poll.

Hmmmmm… Could it be….Because…. He’s Black? 😯

Just saying…. George W. Bush was an evil White man. Obama, he’s the socialist black savior.

You know what pisses people off like Evelyn here? It is because I am quite real; because I am not some liberal or Conservative elitist blogging from the poolside of my million dollar mansion. It is because I screw with the narrative of the far liberal left in this Country. Because I refuse to accept the socialism and group think of the liberal establishment.  Because I happen to believe that the reason Michigan’s economy is so damned screwed up, not to mention that of the entire United States; is because of the stupid social engineering of the United States and yes, of Michigan too — by the Democratic Party.

So, to “Evelyn Jones” and to the rest of the liberal twits who happen to pass by here and not like what they see or read. I got one thing to say to you:

Thank You for your Support!

1.3 unemployed won’t get unemployment, Democrats grandstand the issue

I got four words for ’em — Cry Me a River:

WASHINGTON – More than 1.3 million laid-off workers won’t get their unemployment benefits reinstated before Congress goes on a weeklong break for Independence Day.

And hundreds of thousands more will lose their benefits in the coming weeks.

The House voted 270-153 Thursday to extend jobless benefits for people who have been laid off for long stretches, but the gesture was made futile by the Senate’s inability to pass the bill. For the third time in as many weeks, Republicans in the Senate successfully filibustered a similar measure Wednesday night before senators adjourned for vacation.

A little more than 1.3 million people have already lost benefits since the last extension ran out at the end of May, according to the Labor Department. By the end of the week, the number will jump to 1.7 million. By the end of July, it would top 3 million.

“It is hard to understand how anybody can come to this floor and say, for 1.7 million people and their families, this is not an emergency,” said Rep. Sander Levin, D-Mich., chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. “There is no excuse for voting no.”

The bill would extend unemployment payments for up to a total of 99 weeks, for people whose state-paid benefits have run out. The benefits would be available through the end of November, at a cost of $33.9 billion. The money would have been borrowed, adding to the budget deficit.

via 1.3 million unemployed won’t get benefits restored – Yahoo! News.

Steve Gilbert over at Sweetness and Light points out:

This is political grandstanding of the worst kind. The Republicans have repeatedly said that they would extend unemployment benefits if the Democrats would strip out all the other things they have larded up the bill with. That is to say, the Republicans have said they would vote for a stand-alone unemployment extension.

But the Democrats refuse present such a bill because they think they can score political points by claiming that the GOP opposes extending benefits for those out of work.

As for me; I have no pity for those people who have been on the Government dole and are now losing the dole. Why? Because when I became unemployed back in 2005. I was not eligible for unemployment, at all. Why? Because I quit my job. The job was making me physically sick and I could not take it anymore and I quit. So, that automatically disqualifies me from getting any benefits. (Looking back on it, I MIGHT have been able to collect… But, at the time, I thought I had another job lined up. Needless to say, that never happened…)

So, since 2005; I have been having to basically live off my folks and making whatever little this blog brings in for cash. Which really is not much at all, when you get right down to it. But I do much enjoy writing about politics and the idiotic Democrats! 😉  You think the Government would push aside its rules and regulations for this white boy? Yeah Right! Now maybe if I was some sort of an oppressed minority or something. But, I am just another evil white man and the Government hasn’t established a fund for the evil poor white man yet.

You would think that the condition that the Country is in that the Democrats would just say, “Okay, Unemployment Benefits only.” But, no, they would rather grandstand an issue, all just to try secure votes come November. Which to be truly honest, is not going to guarantee the Democrats anything at all. Heck, if I were a Republican or a Democrat right now; I would be very worried, because there is a good deal of anti-incumbent sentiment in American right now.

This, in a long list of issues, is why I will never, ever vote Democratic Party again, ever.

Oh Wonderful: The Taliban say no go on negotiations with Nato

So much for that idea: (H/T iammilitary on twitter)

It comes after US commanders and the British army chief of staff, Gen David Richards, suggested that it might be useful to talk to the Taliban.

The Taliban statement is uncompromising, almost contemptuous.

They believe they are winning the war, and cannot see why they should help Nato by talking to them.

They assume, perhaps wrongly, that the Americans are in disarray after the sacking of the Nato commander Gen Stanley McChrystal last week, and regard any suggestion that they should enter negotiations with them as a sign of Nato’s own weakness.

June, they point out, has seen the highest number of Nato deaths in Afghanistan: 102, an average of more than three a day. — Via BBC News – Taliban rule out negotiations with Nato

You know the sick and sad part? They are winning the war. Because it is quite obvious the the United States does not have a damned clue as to how to fight that war over there. You just do not negotiate with terrorists; you kill them. But that is pretty hard to do; when you have a Government over there that is just corrupt as the Taliban themselves. Our President is not helping that either. Best thing that this Government can do, at this point; is to basically withdraw and protect our own. We had the chance to do, what we want to do now, in 2003 — and we blew it. Thanks George W. Bush; you damned idiot. 😡

Video — Unreal: Former Oil Cleanup Worker says the clean up effort is all for show

(H/T to Jim Hoft @ Gateway Pundit)

The Video:

The Story Via WKRG.com News:

Former oil clean-up worker Candi Warren says she signed up to make a difference, but soon found out the work of cleaning the beaches was all cosmetic. That’s what she was told, she says.

Warren says she knew that when crews worked during the day, the tide and surf buried oil overnight. But they were forbidden to dig it up. She quit in disgust three weeks ago despite the $18 per hour pay.

She said she was told to only clean the surface of the sand, that this is all cosmetic. She was on a crew at Gulf State Park where tourists go. She says it has priority so as to make it look like the beaches are clean.

Warren says she believes money is being wasted on the crews and says “At some point the real clean-up will have to begin, but I’m afraid the money will be gone.”

She used a shovel and dug down six, eight, maybe twelve inches into the sand to show us the layers of oil close to the shoreline.

Unreal. Obama think he can actually hoodwink America. He thought wrong. A free press will bring you down every time.

Unbelievable and quite sad. 🙁

Speaking of stupid minorities

There’s this idiot:

Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan has written the leaders of more than a dozen major U.S. Jewish groups and denominations seeking “repair of my people from the damage” he claims Jews have caused blacks for centuries.

Farrakhan sent the letter along with two books from the Nation of Islam Historical Research Team that the 77-year-old minister said prove “an undeniable record of Jewish Anti-Black behavior,” starting with the slave trade and Jim Crow laws.

“We could charge you with being the most deceitful so-called friend, while your history with us shows you have been our worst enemy,” he wrote.

Farrakhan has long accused Jews of wrongdoing in speeches, but he has rarely addressed Jewish groups so directly in writing.

The Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish civil rights group which distributed copies of the letter, said in a statement Tuesday that Farrakhan’s “anti-Semitism is obsessive, diabolical and unrestrained. He has opened a new chapter in his ministry where scapegoating Jews is not just part of a message, but the message.”

via Nation of Islam leader accuses Jews of ‘anti-black’ behavior, asks for dialogue | Washington Examiner.

Hmmm, I wonder if he knows about this right here?

Look, I am not a overly Zionist person. I support Israel’s right to exist and such; but I am not overly nutty about it; like some. But this is just straight up Anti-Semitic tripe. If this man were any other nationality; he would have been already removed from the public square. But because he is black, he gets a free pass. Kinda like BreitBart.

Why do Conservatives and Libertarians continue to bring up Senator Byrd’s involvement in the Klan?

This is getting to be quite old. The continuing defamation of a dead man.

The cheap shot against Byrd is that he was back in the day an Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan and writing letters as late as 1946 that “The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation.” I consider it a cheap shot because he did apologize for and disown his participation in the group. Better late than never, I suppose, even if it does make you wonder about all those politicians of his generation, even ones from the Deep South, who never felt a need to recruit for the KKK and never prattled on about “white niggers” like some back-country Norman Mailer. —Let’s Not Forget Sen. Byrd’s Negative Legacy – Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

Okay, so why did this reason writer even feel the need to even bring it up? Why? I’ll tell you why. To make a cheap political point; that is not entirely based in factual information. It just so happens that the Democratic Party fought hard in 1964 to get the civil rights bill passed. Yes, Byrd was one of the Southern Democrats who objected to that bill. It also happens to be a fact that Senator Barry Goldwater, a Libertarian Conservative, who also objected to it as well. As did many Conservatives as well.

It also just so happens that Byrd apologized time and time again for his involved in the Klan, From Wikipedia:

When running for the United States House of Representatives in 1952, he announced “After about a year, I became disinterested, quit paying my dues, and dropped my membership in the organization. During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan.” He said he had joined the Klan because he felt it offered excitement and was anti-communist.[10] However, in 1946 or 1947 he wrote a letter to a Grand Wizard stating, “The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation.”[19]

In 1997, he told an interviewer he would encourage young people to become involved in politics, but to “Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don’t get that albatross around your neck. Once you’ve made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena.”[20] In his latest autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a member because he “was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision—a jejune and immature outlook—seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions.”[21] Byrd also said, in 2005,

I know now I was wrong.
Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times …
and I don’t mind apologizing over and over again. I can’t erase what
happened.

For me, that is more than enough of an explanation. Let us also remember that a revered voice on the Conservative/Republican side, Strom Thurmond was also a supporter of Segregation and also reportedly a bitter racist as well.  Besides all that; While I do not condone that actions of the Klan, especially the violence towards blacks. We need to be real about all this; “Celebrating Diversity” is a joke. Just ask this guy here.

I just stand amazed of the tactics of some of the Bloggers who call themselves “Conservative”; how they engage in the tactics of the liberal left of race-bating anyone who disagrees with their dogmatic position on race. Some of them seriously need to come down to reality and realize that their ideas on race are just flat wrong. I also find it amazing that they will attack White people who stood for their own race; but they will condemn a black man in the White House, all the while kissing up to the Zionist element in Jewish Conservative politics.

Some people need to just get real…. 🙄

A living example of why I will never ever vote Democrat again, ever

So much asshole in so much of a space…

From AVClub: (H/T to Big Hollywood)

AVC: You did spend last year as a very visible target of right-wing hate because of that comment you made about teabaggers.

JG: But I don’t know if it’s on anybody’s mind. It’s on the teabagger-type mind, but I don’t know if it’s on normal people’s minds. Does that make sense? The teabagger thing and the right-wing thing—they pick easy targets, and a female in the entertainment industry is low-hanging fruit. It’s very easy to mock and marginalize people in general who are in the entertainment industry, for some reason. But then definitely there’s the double standard and the misogyny that goes through it as well. They’ve got no problem with Will Ferrell or Alec Baldwin or Viggo Mortensen, but they tend to take issue when a female says something. It’s just an easier person to bully. And they just love making mountains out of molehills. It’s just a fact. If you don’t recognize the racist element in the teabag movement, you’re either dishonest, or you’ve never seen the teabag movement, or heard of it, or been acquainted with it in any way.

AVC: You’ve also been called out by name and invited to tea parties by people like Deroy Murdock and other African-Americans within the Tea Party—people who probably don’t know you from anything else—ostensibly just so they can prove to you that there are minorities involved, so therefore they aren’t racists.

JG: But not really. They’ve put that out on their side. They have never really invited me. They claim that they have, but they really haven’t. And having said that, I would never go. They will always say, “I invited so and so, and she declined,” when they’ve never gotten in touch with me. [Laughs.] But then also, a lot of the things they say I say, I’ve never said. They just make things up whole cloth. There’s a fake Facebook me. There’s a fake me Twittering. Sometimes, when it was at the height of right-wing nonsense picking on me, there would be a fake me writing letters to the editor. Just totally not even something I’ve ever said, that will then become part of the echo chamber. But they also pretend they’ve asked me lots of things they’ve never asked me.

AVC: I’m glad you mentioned that fake Twitter account. I was wondering if you were aware of that.

JG: I am aware of it. There’s unfortunately nothing I can do about it.

AVC: Well, you could get your own verified Twitter account, just to get your name back.

JG: I would, but why would I do that?

AVC: Just to take it away from this guy, I guess. He has like 6,000 followers.

JG: I don’t even know why somebody’s Twittering as me. I don’t understand it, and I wish that it would stop. But there’s nothing that can be done. It’s so terrible.

AVC: And there are some blogs that have actually quoted from it as though it’s a quote from you.

JG: Oh God! Would you do me a huge favor, and in this article please reiterate that that is not me?

AVC: Sure, although I think it’s pretty obvious when you look at it that it’s just a guy using it to promote his own Internet radio station—like it’ll say something about teabaggers, then “Oh, and I really love this radio station!”

JG: [Laughs.] I didn’t know that. That is so awful. Where is his account and stuff?

AVC: It’s just “Janeane Garofal” without the “o” at the end.

JG: Ah! Janeane Garofal! That’s so weird that somebody would do that.

AVC: Well, that’s what happens when you don’t have a web presence.

JG: I guess so! But please, like I said, if you could do me that huge favor and make it clear that that’s not me.

AVC: You mention in your special—and there’s been footage of folks like Fox News’ Griff Jenkins doing this—that after the teabagger comment, people would ambush you with video cameras after your shows. Does that kind of thing still happen?

JG: Yeah, occasionally. Not as much as it used to. It used to happen quite a bit. Now it’s just every so often, and there’s a lot of people that call in and pretend when I’m doing a radio interview. Like, say I’m doing stand-up in Baltimore or something, and the club sets up different press things that you do to promote the show, like a few morning-radio shows, what have you. There will be ambushes on that, where it’ll be a right-wing show, but they’ll pretend that it’s not, or they pretend that they want to talk about the stand-up show. But they don’t. They do a gotcha thing. Like I said, it’s just low-hanging fruit. If they were serious about their politics or had any integrity at all, they wouldn’t give a shit at all about me. But since it’s just blood sport for them, and since they don’t really care about issues, they do pranks on me. Or sometimes I’ll go to a town, and they’ll cancel my hotel reservations. They’ll find out where I’m staying and cancel it, or prank phone call the room.

AVC: Or send you a bunch of pizzas you didn’t order?

JG: It’s never been pizzas. That would be good. No, just calling and hanging up, or when I check in, they say, “Oh, Miss Garofalo, we were told you canceled.” It’s just kind of something that happens a lot, and like I said, it just shows me that they’re not serious about it. Because why would you spend time on that if you were truly interested in honest policy or the effect politics has on society?

AVC: Last year, Lou Dobbs accused you of being hypocritical for encouraging people to protest during Bush’s administration, but then dismissing the Tea Party protests. How would you say the situations are different?

JG: First of all, Lou Dobbs is ridiculous. Secondly, there was plenty to protest for the Bush administration. Protesting the color of a man’s skin is not a worthy protest. That’s what the teabaggers are about. The first Tea Party protest was scheduled for Inauguration Day. So what were they upset about? Which part of the job he was doing before he even did it were they upset about? Secondly, if they claim to be upset with government corruption, government takeover, crazy spending, where were they from 2000 to 2008? Right? And why weren’t they protesting the stolen elections?

And Lou Dobbs is a very anti-immigrant guy. His credibility is nil as far as I’m concerned. Like I said, I would never join the Tea Partiers, because I don’t have a problem with the color of Obama’s skin. I don’t have a problem with immigrants. You know what I mean? I do have genuine problems with policy and government corruption. Sure I do. And I speak very candidly about that, regardless of who’s in office. But since the Tea Partiers are ridiculous, why would I urge anyone to participate with them?

AVC: One more: While you were in the thick of protesting the Iraq War, you were quoted as saying “a lot of people who like to wrap themselves in the flag, hide behind Jesus, and be aggressive—some of those people are not intellectual powerhouses. So that’s why they cleave into very us-vs.-them, black-and-white visions of the world.” Do you not think calling all teabaggers “racist rednecks” encourages its own us-vs.-them mentality?

JG: Well, I would say two things to that. First of all, “redneck” is a state of mind, not a person. So the “racist redneck” thing is a state of mind, not a geographical location. So I don’t mean to imply that it’s just Southerners. And if you don’t recognize the racist underpinnings and the emotional reactive response you’re getting from these teabaggers because we have a black president, then you are either being dishonest, or you’ve never seen the teabaggers. And also, like I said, if they were so concerned with this stuff, then the year 2000 starting with the stolen election would have been a great time to present themselves. That’s A.

Secondly, when I talk about people wrapping themselves in the flag and hiding behind Jesus—that’s an anti-intellectual thing to do in the political process, because legally, allegedly we have a separation between church and state. That’s a legal precedent that’s never observed. When people are trying to do something that’s not in your best interest, they will wrap it in the flag and hide behind Jesus, which is a corrupt thing to do. I’ve got no problem with religion if you’re going to use it for the good, like Gandhi or Martin Luther King. But that’s rarely the case when it comes to politics. It’s usually used as a con. It’s just not an intellectual thing to do. I’m not saying that the person is stupid. I’m just saying that in the political process, how is it relevant? How is it relevant to what goes on in the halls of government to bring up questions of religion? Like the flag-burning nonsense the people used to divert attention from something. Or even when Obama just did the British Petroleum speech, and he did the Fisherman’s Prayer. How in the world is that relevant to anything that anybody needs to know or hear about this corporate corruption? Or about what can be done about it, or how this happened? What would be more important to know is why does Ken Salazar still have his job? I don’t need to know about this prayer. [Laughs.]

It’s an anti-intellectual pursuit, and it’s usually used as a way to pander to people to divert their attention. I don’t know how else to answer you besides saying the teabaggers—do I know every single one of them? No. Can I see that there’s a lot of racist bullshit going on? Absolutely. Would it have been welcome to see more of these “anti-government” types around after the stolen election? It would have been good to see it. I wouldn’t have liked to see them with their immigrant-bashing and their stupid signs.

But let me ask you a question also: What makes you think—and I ask this in general, or of anybody who asks this question—what makes you think the teabag movement isn’t racist?

AVC: It’s not that I totally disagree with you, but I suppose the presence of minorities in their videos and such is their way of showing that they aren’t racist.

JG: And I would say those people suffer from Stockholm syndrome. [Laughs.]

AVC: And I do worry that characterizing the entire movement as racist is dismissive enough to make it one of those “us-vs.-them” situations that you were so against before—in a way that it almost hinders the argument.

JG: I don’t think it does. I think what hinders the argument is when people are afraid of hurting the feelings of racists and people who are genuinely—some of them—out of their minds. They demand to see Obama’s birth certificate. They claim that he wants to kill our grandparents with his health care. They want to be able to carry their guns into every public place. Why do we need to coddle these people? And in this case, I guess it is an “us-vs.-them,” in that I don’t see how people who demand to see his birth certificate, and people who don’t want health care, and who come armed to town-hall meetings—there is a distinct difference between that kind of citizen and another kind of citizen. It is technically us-vs.-them. [Laughs.] And actually, they would probably be proud as punch to say that. They seem to love to have an enemy. They love the idea of fighting against some system.

I think what actually isn’t helpful is that so few people seem to be willing to really discuss this. I don’t know why in this country we coddle corporate criminals, war criminals, and racists. People walk on eggshells around them, and yet they will say a word like “liberal” as if it’s pejorative. Or somebody who wants unions or reproductive justice, they will treat them like there’s something wrong with that person. Does that make sense? People seem to be more frightened of upsetting a war criminal or a racist and more willing to disparage a very nice guy like Dennis Kucinich. Does that make sense? They seem to feel fine picking on him for some reason, but then it’s, “Oh God, don’t say anything about Glenn Beck.” Or about somebody who speaks at the Tea Party conference and says veiled racist things. They don’t really want to come out and point a finger at that guy, but they’re willing to make all kinds of jokes and cavalier comments about somebody like Dennis Kucinich or Harry Reid. I don’t understand why that is. But anyway, could I be any more more long-winded?

If that’s what the Democratic Party has become. I’ll never vote for them again, ever.

Welcome to Barack Obama’s America.

John McCain Politizes the War in Afghanistan

Seriously, someone needs to tell Grandpa McSame to seriously shut the hell up….:

Sen. John McCain blasted President Barack Obama’s stated goal of beginning troop withdrawal from Afghanistan in July 2011, saying Obama made a “political decision” not based on military strategy.

McCain (R-Ariz.), Obama’s opponent in the 2008 presidential election, continued to criticize Obama’s decision to include a timetable in his Afghanistan strategy, and he criticized military leaders who signed on to Obama’s timetable strategy.

“It was purely a political decision,” McCain said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “Not one based on facts on the ground, not one based on military strategy.”

McCain, ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, went further, saying that no military advisers proposed to Obama any strategy that included a timetable. But when host David Gregory noted that Obama’s military leaders have endorsed the strategy, McCain faulted them for not opposing the commander in chief. – Via McCain blasts Afghanistan withdrawal date as ‘political decision’ by Obama – TheHill.com

Um, Mr. McSame? Isn’t getting on TV and blasting Obama War Strategy a political move too? The truth is, John McCain is still pissed off, because Barack Obama trounced his idiotic piece of crap ass in the 2008 election; and this basically is the pay back for that. The reason why President Barack Obama won is, because John McCain is not a true Conservative, he is a progressive in a Conservative suit. This is why he has been defeated EVERY TIME he has tried to run for election for President, because people see right through that idiotic smile of his.

The truth of the matter is this; the only reason that John McCain is even a Republican is because he divorced his first wife and married that the beer distributor heiress and is filthy rich. Otherwise, he would be over in the Democratic Party side of the fence. Now before anyone is shocked and makes a comment about this posting. I, in fact, NEVER WAS a John McCain fan, ever. In the 2008 Presidential Election, I voted for Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party‘s candidate for President. Now did I agree with everything that Bob Barr stood for? No. But at least I knew that Bob Barr was a honest man and did not lie about what he really was. Which is more than one can say about John McCain and the most of the Progressive Conservatives on capital hill at the moment, not to mention all of the Democratic Party socialists that are there as well. Some people might not agree with my opinion of Barr; in fact there are some who despise the man. I can understand why and I’ve read their complaints. Now, do I agree with them? Not entirely, but I do see their points. I also know that Bob Barr did not win either. 😉

The fact is this; we need new thinking up on that hill and in 2012 in that White House. The Beltway types need to go, Republican and Democrat both. We need new blood, people that want to look out for the best interest of this Country and not in the best interest of “special interest”. Special Interest and political corruption are the new “bad words” on the hill and in the political discourse in America, let’s hope that this continues.

As for John McCain, I do respect the man’s Military Record, but I do not respect his phony Conservatism, nor his pushing for an endless war in the Afghan Theater and the one in Iraq. That, my friends, is idiotic at best. We need a plan in the Afghan theater and if we cannot make any ground there, then we need to leave and try something different. Period.

….as for John McCain, he needs to seriously shut the hell up! 😡

Jeez… What an asshole….

You know the real sick and sad part? I actually kind of liked this guy, when I was still in the “Left of Center” camp and would have most likely voted for him, had he made the grade during the primaries. Needless to say, I do not feel that way anymore. What an elitist idiot! 😡

Your Brillant Government hard at work……again

Oh Boy, The U.S. Government keeps this brilliance up and we’re all going to be screwed:

NEW ORLEANS —
The federal government is shutting down the dredging that was being done to create protective sand berms in the Gulf of Mexico.

The berms are meant to protect the Louisiana coastline from oil. But the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department has concerns about where the dredging is being done.

Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who was one of the most vocal advocates of the dredging plan, has sent a letter to President Barack Obama, pleading for the work to continue.

Nungesser said the government has asked crews to move the dredging site two more miles farther off the coastline.

“Once again, our government resource agencies, which are intended to protect us, are now leaving us vulnerable to the destruction of our coastline and marshes by the impending oil,” Nungesser wrote to Obama. “Furthermore, with the threat of hurricanes or tropical storms, we are being put at an increased risk for devastation to our area from the intrusion of oil.

Of course, that is what happens when you have radical environmentalists appointed to Governmental positions. Also, it speaks of the tone-deaf, out of touch Liberal Elite Government that is now in place. This also proves Michael Savage’s point that liberalism is, in fact, a mental disorder.

Gen. Stanley McChrystal fit hits the shan

A very catch title to a story; that quite frankly, has me slacked jawed.

Gen. Stanley McChrystal gave a reporter unfettered access to himself and his staff; and boy did the dirty make it to the press, the article is in Rolling Stone: (Language Warning!)

‘How’d I get screwed into going to this dinner?” demands Gen. Stanley McChrystal. It’s a Thursday night in mid-April, and the commander of all U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan is sitting in a four-star suite at the Hôtel Westminster in Paris. He’s in France to sell his new war strategy to our NATO allies – to keep up the fiction, in essence, that we actually have allies. Since McChrystal took over a year ago, the Afghan war has become the exclusive property of the United States. Opposition to the war has already toppled the Dutch government, forced the resignation of Germany’s president and sparked both Canada and the Netherlands to announce the withdrawal of their 4,500 troops. McChrystal is in Paris to keep the French, who have lost more than 40 soldiers in Afghanistan, from going all wobbly on him.

“The dinner comes with the position, sir,” says his chief of staff, Col. Charlie Flynn.

McChrystal turns sharply in his chair.

“Hey, Charlie,” he asks, “does this come with the position?”

McChrystal gives him the middle finger.

[….]

Now, flipping through printout cards of his speech in Paris, McChrystal wonders aloud what Biden question he might get today, and how he should respond. “I never know what’s going to pop out until I’m up there, that’s the problem,” he says. Then, unable to help themselves, he and his staff imagine the general dismissing the vice president with a good one-liner.

“Are you asking about Vice President Biden?” McChrystal says with a laugh. “Who’s that?”

“Biden?” suggests a top adviser. “Did you say: Bite Me?”

Believe me, I’m reading though this thing, it gets worse. This alone right here; will most likely end his career:

By some accounts, McChrystal’s career should have been over at least two times by now. As Pentagon spokesman during the invasion of Iraq, the general seemed more like a White House mouthpiece than an up-and-coming commander with a reputation for speaking his mind. When Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld made his infamous “stuff happens” remark during the looting of Baghdad, McChrystal backed him up. A few days later, he echoed the president’s Mission Accomplished gaffe by insisting that major combat operations in Iraq were over. But it was during his next stint – overseeing the military’s most elite units, including the Rangers, Navy Seals and Delta Force – that McChrystal took part in a cover-up that would have destroyed the career of a lesser man.

After Cpl. Pat Tillman, the former-NFL-star-turned-Ranger, was accidentally killed by his own troops in Afghanistan in April 2004, McChrystal took an active role in creating the impression that Tillman had died at the hands of Taliban fighters. He signed off on a falsified recommendation for a Silver Star that suggested Tillman had been killed by enemy fire. (McChrystal would later claim he didn’t read the recommendation closely enough – a strange excuse for a commander known for his laserlike attention to minute details.) A week later, McChrystal sent a memo up the chain of command, specifically warning that President Bush should avoid mentioning the cause of Tillman’s death. “If the circumstances of Corporal Tillman’s death become public,” he wrote, it could cause “public embarrassment” for the president.

“The false narrative, which McChrystal clearly helped construct, diminished Pat’s true actions,” wrote Tillman’s mother, Mary, in her book Boots on the Ground by Dusk. McChrystal got away with it, she added, because he was the “golden boy” of Rumsfeld and Bush, who loved his willingness to get things done, even if it included bending the rules or skipping the chain of command. Nine days after Tillman’s death, McChrystal was promoted to major general.

Some would dismiss that is liberal propaganda; but I tend to believe it.

There is more:

One soldier shows me the list of new regulations the platoon was given. “Patrol only in areas that you are reasonably certain that you will not have to defend yourselves with lethal force,” the laminated card reads. For a soldier who has traveled halfway around the world to fight, that’s like telling a cop he should only patrol in areas where he knows he won’t have to make arrests. “Does that make any fucking sense?” asks Pfc. Jared Pautsch. “We should just drop a fucking bomb on this place. You sit and ask yourself: What are we doing here?”

The rules handed out here are not what McChrystal intended – they’ve been distorted as they passed through the chain of command – but knowing that does nothing to lessen the anger of troops on the ground. “Fuck, when I came over here and heard that McChrystal was in charge, I thought we would get our fucking gun on,” says Hicks, who has served three tours of combat. “I get COIN. I get all that. McChrystal comes here, explains it, it makes sense. But then he goes away on his bird, and by the time his directives get passed down to us through Big Army, they’re all fucked up – either because somebody is trying to cover their ass, or because they just don’t understand it themselves. But we’re fucking losing this thing.”

McChrystal and his team show up the next day. Underneath a tent, the general has a 45-minute discussion with some two dozen soldiers. The atmosphere is tense. “I ask you what’s going on in your world, and I think it’s important for you all to understand the big picture as well,” McChrystal begins. “How’s the company doing? You guys feeling sorry for yourselves? Anybody? Anybody feel like you’re losing?” McChrystal says.

“Sir, some of the guys here, sir, think we’re losing, sir,” says Hicks

Truthfully, the article is hard-hitting, blunt, and just plain harsh. I predict that McChrystal will most like retire. McChrystal was, to be fair, a holdover from the Bush Administration; but his Military service predates that. McChrystal is just a tough Military man, that knows the business; more than Obama. He also knows that he does not like the current administration in Washington D.C.

Ed Morrissey says:

Some will say that we have had plenty of brilliant generals who won wars while being difficult and opinionated. That is true, but even those generals understood to keep their opinions within a tight, private circle — and knew not to encourage insubordination among their staff. George Patton wound up getting fired for airing too many of his opinions about de-Nazification and the Soviets publicly while administering post-war Germany; Douglas MacArthur, one of the most self-centered military leaders in American history, succeeded brilliantly until he publicly challenged his Commander in Chief on war strategies. Being right, or at least mostly right, didn’t do either Patton or MacArthur much good in the end, nor should it have.

So far, McChrystal hasn’t earned enough leash by winning anything. Regardless of what one thinks of the current C-in-C, Obama is still the man elected by the people to run the executive branch and the military. The picture this article paints is one of a lack of discipline and respect, and the White House has every right to demand an apology and replace McChrystal with someone who understands better the subtleties of overall command and its politics.

Will Obama fire McChrystal? It’s hard to say, mainly because of the critical juncture we face in Afghanistan and McChrystal’s deep involvement in all phases of the effort. But after reading the Rolling Stone article, which McChrystal has yet to deny, it would be very hard to blame Barack Obama if he canned McChrystal over it.

However, a Military expert who spoke to Tapped, which is a blog for the American Prospect; which is a progressive Blog — says, No so fast on the insubordination charges:

So do McChrystal’s comments amount to insubordination? No, says Eugene Fidell, who teaches at Yale University School of Law and is president of the National Institute of Military Justice. “I don’t really think this is contemptuous,” says Fidell. “I don’t think it makes the needle bounce under Article 88. There’s ‘contemptuous words’ and being disrespectful,” Fidell added. “Those are two different things.”

That said, Fidell still believes McChrystal should go. “The real problem here is that an officer at his level has to set an example, and the president has to have complete confidence in an officer at that level,” Fidell says. “McChrystal has to resign or retire.”

“You cannot have a senior official saying this kind of thing,” Fidell says. “It’s a democratic society, but you can’t have this kind of dissension at the highest levels [of the military]. People have to get out if they feel that way.”

UPDATE: Since most of the disrespectful comments came from McChrystal’s aides and not McChrystal himself, I asked Fidell whether these rose to the level of insubordination under Article 88.

“The officers in his staff are in for some heavy weather, if that’s the water cooler conversation,” Fidell said, predicting that they would face some kind of consequences. But added that he didn’t think the anonymous comments amounted to insubordination. He added that administration officials were “entitled to better.”

Either way, McChrystal has been summoned to the White House to get his tail kicked; or at least to have a beer summit:

KABUL — Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Tuesday that his top commander in Afghanistan “made a significant mistake and exercised poor judgment” in making dismissive and derogatory remarks to a magazine reporter about U.S. government officials involved in Afghan policy.

Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal has been summoned to Washington to explain a Rolling Stone article that includes highly critical comments by him and his staff about Vice President Biden, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl W. Eikenberry and other top Obama administration officials.

The profile of McChrystal, titled the “Runaway General,” is certain to increase tension between him and the White House. It also raises fresh questions about the judgment and leadership style of the commander appointed by President Obama last year in an effort to turn around a worsening conflict.

“I read with concern the profile piece on Gen. Stanley McChrystal in the upcoming edition of ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine,” Gates said in a statement, adding, “Our troops and coalition partners are making extraordinary sacrifices on behalf of our security, and our singular focus must be on supporting them and succeeding in Afghanistan without such distractions.

“Gen. McChrystal has apologized to me and is similarly reaching out to others named in this article to apologize to them as well. I have recalled Gen. McChrystal to Washington to discuss this in person.”

Blackfive; which is a very nice MilBlog is all over this. You can read the entries about this Here, Here, Here, and Here.

Michelle Malkin makes a very good point:

No matter how right or wrong I think Gen. McChrystal may be (praise here, criticism here), I think we can all agree that in a time of war, the last place a military commander should be blabbing is an anti-war pop culture rag that specializes in slime.

Cannot say that I disagree with that.

The fallout so far, is an Civilian Press Aid has gotten canned:

KABUL — Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal’s civilian press aide resigned Tuesday over an upcoming magazine story that portrayed the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan and some of his aides as derisive toward Obama administration officials.

Duncan Boothby, who has been on McChrystal’s staff for roughly a year, was the first casualty of a controversy that prompted White House officials to summon the general to the White House to explain the remarks in the profile that will appear in this week’s issue of Rolling Stone.

Boothby was heavily involved in arranging access for journalist Michael Hastings to McChrystal and his staff this year so Hastings could write the profile, titled “The Runaway General.”

An official in Kabul confirmed the resignation, speaking on condition of anonymity because it was a personnel issue.

Boothby is not a military officer. He is one of a growing number of civilians hired as press aides for senior military brass as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue to generate considerable public interest and controversy.

Military officials say civilians are often better suited to provide constructive criticism and unconventional ideas than military public affairs professionals. In many cases senior generals have reached out to former journalists for an outside set of eyes. Often these civilian aides have a loose portfolio and are brought along in part because they aren’t as constrained by the military’s chain of command.

Expect more fallout.

The roundup of reactions from the right and the left; can be found here.

I am just waiting for some idiotic race-baiting twit on the left to accuse this guy of being a racist bigot for having the stones to criticize President Obama.

Updated: Stupidity from the Moderation Cue

Earlier, I blogged about some of the stupidity that is being said in the Conservative Blogosphere. Well, it seems that I have touched a nerve among the Conservatives.

Behold some of the inane batty craziness from my Moderation cue:

Obama blew the platform and yes, he wants this to get as bad as it can be.

Don’t buy it? Listen to Kyl and see how Obama’s manipulating the border.

Originally, when I wrote this; I said that Obama did secure the boarder. Truth is, he did send National Guardsman to the border, and he put signs up warning people along the Mexican board; which was I believe in Texas. However, since I have wrote that, I have discovered some other information about the border and Obama. But as to Obama blowing up an oil platform, I’m sorry, but that is just untrue. BP is the sole person responsible for that oil platform; and too the MMS for not enforcing regulation.

I have no idea who the hell “Kyl” is, nor do I honestly give a rip Update : They are referring to this. —  But, I challenge ANYONE, ANYONE! To prove to me personally, not with opinion, not with stupid idiotic kooky conspiracy theories, but with actual LIVING proof from legitimate media outlets, and not Alex Jones infowars, or WorldNetDaily stupidity; that President Barack Obama actually blew up that oil platform in the gulf.

The truth is, these moronic idiots do not have jack crap for proof; the only thing they have is their stupid Conspiracy theories, that are spouted by people like Alex Jones.

You see folks, THIS RIGHT HERE is why the Republican Party is going to get it’s butt handed to it on a platter by the Democratic Party in 2010 and 2012. Because of the inane batty stupidity of the far right. That is why we lost in 2008 and that is why we will lose come 2010 elections and 2012 elections!

I printed this, because I wanted to show an example of the idiot moronic stupidity of the far, far right.

Also, for what it is worth, Republicans can be just as fascist as Democrats can be. Eight Years of George W. Bush proved that. Nice try though. 🙄 His Wilsonian foreign policy that he fell in love with after 9/11 will be a stain on America for many years to come. Not to mention the fact, that part of the HUGE debt we are into now; is because of Bush’s idiotic decision to go war with a Country that had ZERO to do with 9/11. But you cannot tell that to the far right, they’re too damned busy believing the batty crazy reports from far right news outlets that say Saddam hid his WMD’s in Syria. Which was totally disproved, but many an outlet, even Fox News. But that does not stop these kooky crazy people. They believe what THEY want to hear!

Unbelievable….. 🙄

You cannot hide your money in Switzerland anymore

If you are wealthy, do not try sending your money to Switzerland anymore. The United States Government will come for it:

The Swiss parliament approved a deal Thursday to help the Internal Revenue Service obtain the names of Americans with secret accounts at Switzerland’s largest bank.

The approval averted a renewed conflict between the U.S. and Swiss governments over bank secrecy. If the deal had collapsed, Swiss banking giant UBS faced the threat of potentially crippling U.S. legal action.
