Updated:Marc Garlasco is NOT an Nazi memorabilia collecting whack job. – Garlasco admits to being a collector, but denies he is a Nazi

This story is one of the one’s burning up the Meme charts. Problem is; it’s not the same guy.

Mere Rhetoric has the update:

ORIGINAL: Thanks to everyone who’s emailing about this in the context of the Marc Garlasco controversy, but I intentionally passed up mentioning the “Flak88” who posts regularly on Stormfront.org. I’m sure it’s not the Marc Garlasco Flak88 who posts on the medals forums.

The Stormfront Flak88 is the top hit for a bunch of searches on that handle, not least of which is “flak88 israel.” But the Stormfront Flak88 is a vulgar racist who complains about unclean Turks and then complains even more that they’re the only ones in Germany who sing nationalistic songs. He has challenges spelling, writing sentences, and conveying thoughts. He lists himself in Europe while the Marc Garlasco Flak88 puts New York in all his profiles. Same handle, different guys.

If it was proven that the Marc Garlasco Flak88 was the same as the Stormfront Flak88, I’d consider that strong evidence against my previous post. For all his faults real or imagined, the HRW Marc Garlasco is neither crude nor stupid. I would guess that he clings very, very tightly to the belief that he’s a history buff who happens, for purely familial reasons, to be utterly fascinated by the Nazis.

I think that’s one convenient bridge too far, and that his obsession colors the rest of what he does. I think he has very strong but tangled beliefs about Jews and the Jewish state that spring from a place that has nothing to do with level-headed analysis. But nothing I’ve read and no one I’ve spoken to leads me to believe he’s an unsophisticated racist like Stormfront Flak88.

It’s easy to get over-excited about these things, and collector Garlasco’s medals are insanely creepy. But we shouldn’t get distracted from the real scandal. This guy has spent the last few years producing untenable anti-Israel boilerplate for human rights organizations, UN committees, and international tribunals. Every time pro-Israel groups suggested that no one could make this many mistakes innocently they were told to stop “stifling legitimate criticism of Israel with implicit accusations of antisemitism.” Hmmmmmm.

UPDATE: Also: while it’s normally a good guess to associate “88” with the well-known hate symbol, in this case its a relatively innocuous reference to the 88mm caliber Flak gun.

Again: Garlasco’s not a vulgar racist. He’s simply not. He’s someone torn by sensibilities that make him wildly inappropriate as a choice for a Middle East investigator. How he got to that position and stayed in that position despite error after debunked error goes to the heart of HRW’s inappropriate obsession with and bias towards Israel. They couldn’t notice anything wrong with the way he approached the conflict because, well, that’s how they all approach the conflict. That’s the scandal – that despite having ideological inclinations and personal tics, he fit right in.

So, let’s draw back the cannons a bit. This fellow might be many things; but what he is accused of being here is just not true. This is why it pays to do very good research before firing off libels. Keeps your credibility in check and can also keep you out of court as well.

How come a high school dropout has to educate people; with degrees and such, to this fact? What Oddball times we live in! 🙄

Update: After having people pester the hell out of me for a week. I will give this update. Here is Garlasco’s response to the accusations:

NEW YORK – I’m used to taking heat for my job as a military analyst for Human Rights Watch, because our findings that this government or that armed group has violated the laws of war frequently provoke accusations that we’re biased or siding with the enemy.

Now I’ve achieved some blogosphere fame, not for the hours I’ve spent sifting through the detritus of war, visiting hospitals, interviewing victims and witnesses and soldiers, but for my hobby (unusual and disturbing to some, I realize) of collecting Second World War memorabilia associated with my German grandfather and my American great-uncle. I’m a military geek, with an abiding interest not only in the medals I collect but in the weapons that I study and the shrapnel I analyze. I think this makes me a better investigator and analyst. And to suggest it shows Nazi tendencies is defamatory nonsense, spread maliciously by people with an interest in trying to undermine Human Rights Watch’s reporting.

I work to expose war crimes and the Nazis were the worst war criminals of all time. But I’m now in the bizarre and painful situation of having to deny accusations that I’m a Nazi.

The Second World War turned my grandfather, who was conscripted and served on an anti-aircraft battery, into a staunch pacifist. He couldn’t understand why I went to work at the Pentagon, where I was on 9/11, of learning from his experiences – the horrific stories he told me late in life of seeing the bodies he shot down fall out of the sky. It wasn’t until he died that I really took his lessons to heart, and decided to use my military expertise to try to lessen the horrors of war.

So I left my government career and joined Human Rights Watch to use my expertise in weapons systems and targeting to push soldiers to protect civilians, to uphold the laws born in the ashes of the Second World War. My first investigation took me to the bomb craters in Iraq and brought me face-to-face with the survivors and other victims of the strikes I helped plan. It was a traumatic experience and provoked much soul-searching. I thought often of my grandfather.

As an American child, I learned that Germans were the bad guys; as I got to know my grandfather, I realized that not all Germans were Nazis. Because of him, and my great-uncle, a gunner on an American B-17 bomber, I developed an interest in German and American war memorabilia, and I wrote a long monograph, published last year, on German Second World War Air Force and anti-aircraft medals.

I’ve never hidden my hobby, because there’s nothing shameful in it, however weird it might seem to those who aren’t fascinated by military history. Precisely because it’s so obvious that the Nazis were evil, I never realized that other people, including friends and colleagues, might wonder why I care about these things. Thousands of military history buffs collect war paraphernalia because we want to learn from the past. But I should have realized that images of the Second World War German military are hurtful to many.

I deeply regret causing pain and offense with a handful of juvenile and tasteless postings I made on two websites that study Second World War artifacts (including American, British, German, Japanese and Russian items). Other comments there might seem strange and even distasteful, but they reflect the enthusiasm of the collector, such as gloating about getting my hands on an American pilot’s uniform.

I told my daughters, as I wrote in my book, that “the war was horrible and cruel, that Germany lost and for that we should be thankful.” I meant what I wrote. And because of the intense suffering during the Second World War and the genocidal campaign against the Jewish people, I spend my days doing what I can to ensure that such horrors are never allowed to happen again.

I am not playing any of the fucking idiotic games of “Why would you believe him, he’s a lefty!” Okay? You wanna play that bullshit, fine; do it elsewhere. Because I do not play that shit here. 😡 I am more the willing to take this man’s word for it. He’s a collector and that’s it. Subject fucking closed.

I just find it quite interesting, that the same group of people on the right; that condemn identity politics on the left; partake in the same sort of behavior themselves — when it comes to the Jews and the fucking Holocaust. Yes, it happened, Yes, it was horrible. Does this mean that I have to kiss the fucking ass of every fucking Jew alive? I think not.

My point is, get off this guys ass, okay? We’ve got more important battles to fight. This is not one we should be bothered with.

Looks like the Conservatives are not the only reactionaries!

Looks like the Democrats did a little “Going Overboard” themselves!

Via Bryon York over the Washington Examiner:

The controversy over President Obama’s speech to the nation’s schoolchildren will likely be over shortly after Obama speaks today at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. But when President George H.W. Bush delivered a similar speech on October 1, 1991, from Alice Deal Junior High School in Washington DC, the controversy was just beginning. Democrats, then the majority party in Congress, not only denounced Bush’s speech — they also ordered the General Accounting Office to investigate its production and later summoned top Bush administration officials to Capitol Hill for an extensive hearing on the issue.

Unlike the Obama speech, in 1991 most of the controversy came after, not before, the president’s school appearance. The day after Bush spoke, the Washington Post published a front-page story suggesting the speech was carefully staged for the president’s political benefit. “The White House turned a Northwest Washington junior high classroom into a television studio and its students into props,” the Post reported.

With the Post article in hand, Democrats pounced. “The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students,” said Richard Gephardt, then the House Majority Leader. “And the president should be doing more about education than saying, ‘Lights, camera, action.'”

Democrats did not stop with words. Rep. William Ford, then chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, ordered the General Accounting Office to investigate the cost and legality of Bush’s appearance. On October 17, 1991, Ford summoned then-Education Secretary Lamar Alexander and other top Bush administration officials to testify at a hearing devoted to the speech. “The hearing this morning is to really examine the expenditure of $26,750 of the Department of Education funds to produce and televise an appearance by President Bush at Alice Deal Junior High School in Washington, DC,” Ford began. “As the chairman of the committee charged with the authorization and implementation of education programs, I am very much interested in the justification, rationale for giving the White House scarce education funds to produce a media event.”

The problem was that there was no harm done at all:

Unfortunately for Ford, the General Accounting Office concluded that the Bush administration had not acted improperly. “The speech itself and the use of the department’s funds to support it, including the cost of the production contract, appear to be legal,” the GAO wrote in a letter to Chairman Ford. “The speech also does not appear to have violated the restrictions on the use of appropriations for publicity and propaganda.”

The real sick and sad part is….this:

That didn’t stop Democratic allies from taking their own shots at Bush. The National Education Association denounced the speech, saying it “cannot endorse a president who spends $26,000 of taxpayers’ money on a staged media event at Alice Deal Junior High School in Washington, D.C. — while cutting school lunch funds for our neediest youngsters.”

Lost in all the denouncing and investigating was the fact that Bush’s speech itself, like Obama’s today, was entirely unremarkable. “Block out the kids who think it’s not cool to be smart,” the president told students. “If someone goofs off today, are they cool? Are they still cool years from now, when they’re stuck in a dead end job. Don’t let peer pressure stand between you and your dreams.

As I said yesterday; I feel that the reaction of the far right on this whole School speech was a bit of an overreaction. I believe in legitimate criticism of the President’s policies; when they are based on facts. But when they are based on paranoia and fear-mongering —- or worse, racism. That is when I have to politely object to the protests and howling of the far right. Personally, I do not feel that there is anything wrong with the Presidents encouraging young people to do well. Yes, I am aware of the books that some teachers were going to pass out and then quickly withdraw amid protests from parents.  I am also aware of the subtext and context of recent events. But to say that this was a attempt at indoctrination or subterfuge to possess the minds of our young people, is a bit a stretch. If anything, it was a poorly planned or even possibly poorly timed event. Heck, for all we know, this school speech may have been planned long before this Van Jones controversy even broke.

I just believe that it is most tragic, is that the far right is making the same tragic reactionary mistakes, that the far left made during the tenure of the Bush Administration.  The question that we Conservatives must ask ourselves is this; what exactly did the far left’s reactionary actions accomplish? The answer is, if you are being intellectually honest, is nothing. My question to my fellow Republican and Conservative Bloggers is this; do we really want to make the same tragic mistakes as the left did, during the Bush Administration?   Do we really want to be known as the Party of reactionary politics?

I realize that some of my readers might be thinking; “This is coming from the same person, who wanted to see Obama’s Original long form Birth Certificate.” and I would like to see it. But I do not believe that it should define Conservatism or our movement of being the “Loyal Opposition.” This is why I do not really like to identify myself  as a “Birther”; because I just really do not feel that we as Conservatives should be wasting our name on such trivial matters as this and over a school speech. What we should be focusing on, is the important issues, such as Obama’s attempt to push Socialized Healthcare and other such important matters, such as Foreign Policy and other such important matters.

Hopefully, you understand my feelings here.

Update: Of Course, stuff like this isn’t helping either…. Ugh.  🙄

A Programming Note

Just let all my readers know that way back in August I wrote tribute to one of the tragic victims of the September 11’th attacks.

In honor of the September 11’th attacks. This Blog will be only displaying the one entry; and that is the tribute. What this means is, that from September 11, 2009 —  00:00 UTC till September 12, 2009 — 00:00 UTC — I will not be making new entries on the Blog.

I was going to remove all ads from the Blog —- For the day; however, I believe the families and more importantly the victims would have not wanted that. We just cannot allow the the terrorists to disrupt our lives.

Some people might be offended by what I have written; Let me say this up front, I make absolutely NO apologies whatsoever for my feelings about September 11 and its effect on our political process.

If you are interested in helping out with the 2,996 project; Please, check out their website and find out how you can help remember the fallen.

I believe it is every Conservative and every America-loving blogger out there responsibility to remember the fallen and not to allow this tragic event to fall into obscurity.

The Obligatory Obama’s Speech to Schoolkids Posting

I was not even going to Blog on this subject; because it was rooted in silliness on the far right.

But seeing the speech is out. Here’s my posting….

Here’s the full text of the speech, decide for yourselves if it is a evil communist indoctrination…or simply a President trying to get kids to do well in school.

Prepared Remarks of President Barack Obama
Back to School Event

Arlington, Virginia
September 8, 2009

The President: Hello everyone – how’s everybody doing today? I’m here with students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. And we’ve got students tuning in from all across America, kindergarten through twelfth grade. I’m glad you all could join us today.
I know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, it’s your first day in a new school, so it’s understandable if you’re a little nervous. I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now, with just one more year to go. And no matter what grade you’re in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer, and you could’ve stayed in bed just a little longer this morning.
I know that feeling. When I was young, my family lived in Indonesia for a few years, and my mother didn’t have the money to send me where all the American kids went to school. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself, Monday through Friday – at 4:30 in the morning.
Now I wasn’t too happy about getting up that early. A lot of times, I’d fall asleep right there at the kitchen table. But whenever I’d complain, my mother would just give me one of those looks and say, “This is no picnic for me either, buster.”
So I know some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But I’m here today because I have something important to discuss with you. I’m here because I want to talk with you about your education and what’s expected of all of you in this new school year.
Now I’ve given a lot of speeches about education. And I’ve talked a lot about responsibility.
I’ve talked about your teachers’ responsibility for inspiring you, and pushing you to learn.
I’ve talked about your parents’ responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and get your homework done, and don’t spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with that Xbox.
I’ve talked a lot about your government’s responsibility for setting high standards, supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren’t working where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve.
But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world – and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.
And that’s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education. I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.
Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide.
Maybe you could be a good writer – maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper – but you might not know it until you write a paper for your English class. Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor – maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or a new medicine or vaccine – but you might not know it until you do a project for your science class. Maybe you could be a mayor or a Senator or a Supreme Court Justice, but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team.
And no matter what you want to do with your life – I guarantee that you’ll need an education to do it. You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military? You’re going to need a good education for every single one of those careers. You can’t drop out of school and just drop into a good job. You’ve got to work for it and train for it and learn for it.
And this isn’t just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. What you’re learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.
You’ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment. You’ll need the insights and critical thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelessness, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free. You’ll need the creativity and ingenuity you develop in all your classes to build new companies that will create new jobs and boost our economy.
We need every single one of you to develop your talents, skills and intellect so you can help solve our most difficult problems. If you don’t do that – if you quit on school – you’re not just quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on your country.
Now I know it’s not always easy to do well in school. I know a lot of you have challenges in your lives right now that can make it hard to focus on your schoolwork.
I get it. I know what that’s like. My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mother who struggled at times to pay the bills and wasn’t always able to give us things the other kids had. There were times when I missed having a father in my life. There were times when I was lonely and felt like I didn’t fit in.
So I wasn’t always as focused as I should have been. I did some things I’m not proud of, and got in more trouble than I should have. And my life could have easily taken a turn for the worse.
But I was fortunate. I got a lot of second chances and had the opportunity to go to college, and law school, and follow my dreams. My wife, our First Lady Michelle Obama, has a similar story. Neither of her parents had gone to college, and they didn’t have much. But they worked hard, and she worked hard, so that she could go to the best schools in this country.
Some of you might not have those advantages. Maybe you don’t have adults in your life who give you the support that you need. Maybe someone in your family has lost their job, and there’s not enough money to go around. Maybe you live in a neighborhood where you don’t feel safe, or have friends who are pressuring you to do things you know aren’t right.
But at the end of the day, the circumstances of your life – what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you’ve got going on at home – that’s no excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude. That’s no excuse for talking back to your teacher, or cutting class, or dropping out of school. That’s no excuse for not trying.
Where you are right now doesn’t have to determine where you’ll end up. No one’s written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future.
That’s what young people like you are doing every day, all across America.
Young people like Jazmin Perez, from Roma, Texas. Jazmin didn’t speak English when she first started school. Hardly anyone in her hometown went to college, and neither of her parents had gone either. But she worked hard, earned good grades, got a scholarship to Brown University, and is now in graduate school, studying public health, on her way to being Dr. Jazmin Perez.
I’m thinking about Andoni Schultz, from Los Altos, California, who’s fought brain cancer since he was three. He’s endured all sorts of treatments and surgeries, one of which affected his memory, so it took him much longer – hundreds of extra hours – to do his schoolwork. But he never fell behind, and he’s headed to college this fall.
And then there’s Shantell Steve, from my hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Even when bouncing from foster home to foster home in the toughest neighborhoods, she managed to get a job at a local health center; start a program to keep young people out of gangs; and she’s on track to graduate high school with honors and go on to college.
Jazmin, Andoni and Shantell aren’t any different from any of you. They faced challenges in their lives just like you do. But they refused to give up. They chose to take responsibility for their education and set goals for themselves. And I expect all of you to do the same.
That’s why today, I’m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education – and to do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in class, or spending time each day reading a book. Maybe you’ll decide to get involved in an extracurricular activity, or volunteer in your community. Maybe you’ll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look, because you believe, like I do, that all kids deserve a safe environment to study and learn. Maybe you’ll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. And along those lines, I hope you’ll all wash your hands a lot, and stay home from school when you don’t feel well, so we can keep people from getting the flu this fall and winter.
Whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it. I want you to really work at it.
I know that sometimes, you get the sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work — that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star, when chances are, you’re not going to be any of those things.
But the truth is, being successful is hard. You won’t love every subject you study. You won’t click with every teacher. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right this minute. And you won’t necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.
That’s OK.  Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who’ve had the most failures. JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was rejected twelve times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and he lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, “I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
These people succeeded because they understand that you can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time. If you get in trouble, that doesn’t mean you’re a troublemaker, it means you need to try harder to behave. If you get a bad grade, that doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means you need to spend more time studying.
No one’s born being good at things, you become good at things through hard work. You’re not a varsity athlete the first time you play a new sport. You don’t hit every note the first time you sing a song. You’ve got to practice. It’s the same with your schoolwork. You might have to do a math problem a few times before you get it right, or read something a few times before you understand it, or do a few drafts of a paper before it’s good enough to hand in.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to admit when you don’t know something, and to learn something new. So find an adult you trust – a parent, grandparent or teacher; a coach or counselor – and ask them to help you stay on track to meet your goals.
And even when you’re struggling, even when you’re discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you – don’t ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.
The story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough. It’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.
It’s the story of students who sat where you sit 250 years ago, and went on to wage a revolution and found this nation. Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depression and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon. Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google, Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other.
So today, I want to ask you, what’s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in twenty or fifty or one hundred years say about what all of you did for this country?
Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions. I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn. But you’ve got to do your part too. So I expect you to get serious this year. I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do. I expect great things from each of you. So don’t let us down – don’t let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it.
Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.

Anything in there, that you would consider Communist?
Honestly, I think sometimes the criticism of this President from those on the far right is more steeped in racism, more than anything else. Like that guy on who was Fox News Yesterday from Texas; I mean, the only thing that this guy did  not say was, “I don’t want that Nigger, giving my kid any kind of a talk in school, ’cause he’s liberal nigger and he might just get his nigger thoughts on my boy and he might start like rap music or something” — As he spits into a spittoon.  I mean, that’s a very offensive way of putting it. But, basically that is what I took away from that interview.
Anyhow, there are a great deal of opinions on the subject and I am sure you can get more perspective on this, by reading those blogs as well. I just do not see the alarmist nonsense in this one, at all.

Video: Two From RedState Update

I have been so busy as of late; Writing about crazy Communists and their resignations in Obama’s White House, that I have been slacking in my video postings. Sorry. 🙁   A one man operation can only do so much. 😀

Here’s two from the guys over at RedState update:

First up a very funny, but quite offensive tribute to Ted Kennedy:

…and an alternative to Obama’s School Speech: (Content Warning! Half Naked Chicks, Booze and Sex!)

Progressive Fat Assed Idiot Michael Moore says Capitialism is evil

This is too rich….:

Capitalism is evil. That is the conclusion U.S. documentary maker Michael Moore comes to in his latest movie “Capitalism: A Love Story,” which premieres at the Venice film festival Sunday.

Blending his trademark humor with tragic individual stories, archive footage and publicity stunts, the 55-year-old launches an all out attack on the capitalist system, arguing that it benefits the rich and condemns millions to poverty.

“Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil,” the two-hour movie concludes.

“You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy.”

via Capitalism is evil, says new Michael Moore film | Lifestyle | Reuters.

Okay, so why isn’t sir-chubby-alot just giving his movies away?

Because he would not make any money on them. Thus Capitalism.

Just more of the “For me, but not for thee” mentality of the far-socialist left.

Typical, so typical. 🙄

Liberals now accuse us of being terrorists

That is correct, we are now the terrorists; that is according to the far left African-American wing of the Democratic Party.

I am, of course, referring to this absolutely asinine rant here.  I would quote that bunch of nonsensical prattle on this blog and respond to it directly; but I am afraid that my emotions would get the best of me and I would say something that I might regret later. Leave it to the idiotic Socialist Liberal Democrats, to turn a fact finding mission, about an admitted Communist, who said everything and I do mean everything; under the damn sun about white people into a “White vs Black” witch hunt; starring of course; Glenn Beck.

The truth is folks, this had nothing to do with “White vs Black” and everything to do with Right vs Wrong. In fact, here is Glenn Back’s Statement about Van Jones’s ouster:

The American people stood up and demanded answers. Instead of providing them, the Administration had Jones resign under cover of darkness. I continue to be amazed by the power of everyday Americans to initiate change in our government through honest questioning, and judging by the other radicals in the administration, I expect that questioning to continue for the foreseeable future.

That is the truth about what really happened people. The Socialist Liberals seem to forget something; and that is that not every person under the Sun voted for Barack Obama. Some that voted for radical extremists like Bob Barr, some that wrote in the name of the crazy extremist Texas Representative Ron Paul, some that actually held their noses and voted for Moderate Republican John McCain and his V.P. Pick Caribou Barbie; er, um, I mean, Sarah Palin.

That my friends is 42% of this Country of ours. Yes, President Obama won fair and square; there is no disputing that.  But he won the election for President of the United States of America and NOT President of the Democratic Party; NOT President of extreme socialist wing of the Democratic Party, not President of the Socialist States of America, not the President of the African-American wing of the Democratic Party —- But the United States of America. President Barack Obama is the American people’s President and we, as Americans, have a obligation as United States citizens to hold this President accountable for every last damn decision that he and congress make.  The same was true with George W. Bush and the Republican Congress and the same is and will be true with THIS President and this Congress.

We just cannot allow, nor can we afford, to become complacent in our attitude towards politics and Washington D.C. and most importantly about the Obama Administration.  That is what the Obama Administration wants; everyone just to tune out and let them handle everything. Let me be the first to say this; as a Independent Conservative writer, and not as a Republican —– that complacency is what got this Country in this mess in the first place. What am I talking about? I am referring to the last nine years in the Country. Back in 2000. There was an election, we elected George W. Bush, then the day after the election, the America said, “Okay, that is over with!” and they proceeded to tune out politics and went back to their normal lives.  Then 9/11 happened and everybody paid attention again, and that lasted about a month or so, maybe two or three; but by the time December of 2001 had rolled around the majority of America had moved on or lost interest.  Then 2003 rolled around, George W. Bush sort of declared war against a Country that had zero to do with the 9/11 attacks. All because upon intelligence that we now know was horribly bad. Again, everyone paid attention, for a while, maybe for about a month or so. But then, the story got to be old hat and the majority of Americans lost interest. Then came 2006, the Iraq War turned ugly — troops started dying in mass; and the American people got angry and started demanding answers. Changes were made, idiots were fired, and a magical surge happened and everything was fine again, and again the people tuned Washington D.C. and the President out, again.

Then came the 2008 elections, which really started way back in 2007. I know, I blogged about them; daily. The American people started, ever so slowly to pay attention again, weary from the Bush Years, people wanted change. Then in the middle of the horse race in 2008, the economic bubble burst and burst bad it did. This is when everyone and I do mean everyone began to pay attention.  What would President Bush do? What would become of our Nation? The American people actually said, “What will become…of me?” Bush did what any beltway Conservative does in time of crisis; he became a Democrat and started trying to prime the pump. He threw money at the Bankers and very quickly left the scene. By this time, the damned world was watching and some, were scratching their heads and wondering; “What on earth are these people doing to our Nation?”

Then the day of reckoning arrived; November 4, 2008. The Nation was in dire need of change and a new President; and the American people did what our Constitution guarantees us —- A right to vote.  During the election, Conservatives like myself, raised our objections to the Democratic forerunner and his policies.  But, the majority of the American people either were not listening or just simply did not care. They wanted a change in direction and boy did they ever get one!

Six months have passed now and Obama’s mantra of Hope and Change is now soured and the very people that voted for him are not shaking their fists in disgust at this President. His policies are failing, tax cheats have bailed, a Communist has resigned over furor of statements made by him. His own very base is now turning on him.

Where am I going with this? What is my point?

My point is this. The American people are actually paying attention to what you do, Mr. President. Do not deceive yourself into believing that you can just do what you damned well please. Your backroom deals with big pharma will come back to haunt you in 2012. Your feeble attempt to fix this economy has essentially failed.  You hired a racist-baiting, bigoted, Communist for a “Green Jobs Czar.” The American people, with the assistance of the Conservative Blogosphere; you know those 42% of Americans that did not vote for you. —- have become well informed of you actions sir. We will continue to fight for what we believe in, Mr President.

We are the loyal opposition. We have nothing to apologize for….. and we’re not going any damned where. Mr. President we elected you and we will make sure, that you are doing your job. We cannot ever afford to tune out, nor will we ever do so again.

Jane Hamsher deserves Kudo’s….

Jane Hamsher, of whom I happen to think is one of the better looking liberals out there —- can be accused of being many things, but a coward is not one of them.

Putting it point blank, the broad has got gonads. Big, Twelve Pound Gonads; For writing something like this right here:

Wow, is that a way to encourage your team or what.

If these groups, if these liberal leaders, let Jones just hang there while Glenn Beck pounds his chest and celebrates the scalp, we have no liberal institutions.  What we have are a bunch of neoliberal enablers who have found a nice comfortable place in the DC establishment that they don’t want to jeopardize, a place on the new K-Street gravy train that they don’t want to lose.  Dropping Van Jones from their rolodex is a small price to pay.

If there is going to be a serious progressive movement in this country capable of standing up for health care against an industry that spends $1.4 million a day on lobbying, we can’t just look to the members of the Progressive Caucus and say “hey, you, get something done.”  They need cover.  They need to know that they will be supported.  And people like Van Jones who have given their lives to causes we say we value like prison reform and environmental advocacy need to know that they will be defended, and not handed over to Glenn Beck as an acceptable casualty in the battle for K-Street dollars.

So to all you liberal organizations in the “veal pen” — this is your moment of truth.  I get all your emails.  And the next Common Purpose meeting is probably on Tuesday.  If you can’t get it together to at least put out a statement of support for Van Jones and condemn the White House for using him as a sacrificial lamb to right wing extremists that will devour us all if left unchecked, it’s time to add “proudly liberal only when it doesn’t matter” to your logo and be done with it.

Me and Jane Hamsher most likely agree on politics about as much as Marilyn Murray O’Hair and Billy Graham did on the Gospel of Jesus Christ —- But it is quite refreshing to see someone, especially someone within the ranks of liberals, standing up to the beltway crowd and telling it exactly like it is about them.

Another Blogger who’s about as mean and possibly about as damn ugly as I am; Dennis the Peasant weighs in:

Jane sees this in terms of a good, old-fashioned sell-out. I don’t, although I admire her honesty in calling it as she sees it. The bottom line, I think, is this: A couple of months ago Van Jones was cool. Now he’s not.

Let’s face it, every liberal worth his or her salt wants a radical negro friend. You know, the hint of danger and all that… The suggestion that one is risking something and taking a stand. It’s the sort of thing that scores points at cocktail parties.

What Jane’s forgotten is this: It’s important to remember that suburban Marxists are just that… suburbanMarxists. They are never to be relied upon because they are fundamentally unserious. These are people who spend their lives pretending to have a cause. Wanting Van Jones around was never about Van Jones, it was about them.

Van Jones was the political equivalent of a Toyota Prius: You don’t buy a Prius because you’re serious about saving the planet, you buy a Prius because of what you think it will say about you. A Prius gives you permission to feel you’re superior to others without actually having done anything.

So it was with Van Jones. He was in. He was cool. And people wanted to be around him. Not because he’d done good things in prison reform or environmentalism. And certainly not because of their affinity for his politics. No they wanted to be around him because, like that Prius, Van Jones was a liberal fashion statement

Look at Me! I know a radical negro! Aren’t I cool?

Now Van Jones isn’t cool. He carries baggage that could be embarrassing – or even vaguely threatening – to your average suburban Marxist. So he’s gone… Soon to be replaced with someone – or something – else. Fashion is, after all, fashion. It was never meant to be permanent.

Is it any wonder Van Jones went down without a sound?

See what I mean about the mean and ugly thing? 😮   However, He does have point. Van Jones was a means to an end. Now that he is damaged goods, nobody wants to touch him. But then again, that is how the Democrats have done things like this for years. They use people; Poor people, Black People, Gay people and so on. It’s called pandering for votes. Something liberal Democrats have done for years.

So, Jane, if you happen to read this —- Kudo’s to you. 😀 From a FORMER Blue Dog/Reagan Democrat turned Conservative. 🙂

Prepare for Liberal Backlash Against Conservatives!

I was afraid something like this was going to start.

Due to the stupid behavior of Van Jones and his subsequent resignation. The liberal MSM is now gearing up for a return attack against Glenn Beck; and they are employing the services of the Liberal Blogosphere to do so.

To his much deserved Credit, Ed Morrissey predicted that this would happen:

What exactly does that mean?  In the next Republican administration, we can expect a great deal of scrutiny for Presidential advisers.  For one thing, it means that no one who ever expressed public support for Birthers to get the benefit of the doubt.  The two conspiracy theories are different, but they both are entirely speculative and imagine dark conspiracies at the highest orbits of power, and neither have any actual direct evidence for support.  Anyone who signed a Birther petition can expect to get bypassed for political appointments in a Republican White House with a halfway-decent vetting team, strictly on the basis of politics, in the wake of Jones’ resignation.

The media and the leftward parts of the New Media will get to work in the meantime on advisers and staffers of Republicans in Congress, and in the New Media itself.  They will use the Van Jones Standard to launch attacks on high-profile conservatives, looking for everything from John Birch Society membership to militias and Birtherism as well.  They have done this all along, but the Left and the media will find much more enthusiasm for these efforts in order to trade Van Jones’ scalp for one or more on the Right.

Ed has never been wrong before; and it appears that it is already starting against Glenn Beck. RedState’s Erick Erickson has discovered an Plea Entry over at DailyKos from none other than the DNC’s chief spokesperson himself; Keith Olbermann, asking for any and all dirt on Glenn Beck and his producers and anyone else over at Fox News.

Quote: (H/T to this story to GOP NEWS on Twitter)

I don’t know why I’ve got this phrasing in my head, but: Find everything you can about Glenn Beck,  Stu Burguiere, and Roger Ailes.

No, even now, I refuse to go all caps.

No, sending me links to the last two Countdowns with my own de-constructions of his biblical vision quality Communist/Fascist/Socialist/Zimbalist art at Rockefeller Center (where, curiously, he works, Comrade) doesn’t count. Nor does sending me links to  specious inappropriate point-underscoring prove-you’re-innocent made-up rumors.

Despite the worn-out snark above, I am in earnest here.

Tuesday we will expand this to the television audience and have a dedicated email address to accept leads, tips, contacts, on Beck, his radio producer Burguiere, and the chief of his tv enablers, Ailes (even though Ailes’ power was desperately undercut when he failed to pull off his phony “truce” push).

This becomes necessary after this in order to prove various cliches about goose and gander, and to remind everybody to walk softly and carry a big popsicle, and most particularly to save this nation from the Oligarhy of The Stupid.

I keep wondering if somewhere somebody named Ollie Garhey thinks he’s in charge now. Or, even more entertainingly and societally satisfying, if somebody named Ali Garhi does.

Despite the worn-out snark above, I am in earnest here.

You almost hear the desperation in that posting above. The Liberals took a massive pounding and they are in earnest trying to find a way to volley a return fire at Glenn Beck. If you believe that they are going to stop with Glenn Beck; you are kidding yourselves. My suggestion to ALL Conservative Bloggers is this. Girt your loins, prepare for attacks on your blogs, by Socalists. If you are running WordPress Blogs, update to the latest version of WordPress. Because right now, there is a worm spreading around that is taking out older versions of WordPress.  I would expect that these socialist minions are more than willing to try DOS attacks on blogs. Especially high profile Blogs. If you do not have a good relations with your host. Now would be a good time to start one or find a host that is blogger friendly.

It is not my intention to scare anyone or anything of that nature. But it would be prudent of all of us; that if we continue to challenge this Administration; we must be prepared for the fallout and for any sort blow-back that might result from the resignation of Obama Administration officials.  Remember we are doing the Lord’s work. This is our God-Given Country, and we must stand up for the principles that this Country was founded upon; which are God-Breathed.   While I do not view all Democrats as my enemy per-say; I view socialists and Socialism, especially of the Saul Alinsky strand, to be an Enemy of America; right up there with Al-Qaeda. We must be strong, we must be wise and above all, we must be ready.

BREAKING NEWS: Van Jones Green Energy Czar for the Obama Administration has RESIGNED!

we_win_cheers1

Score one for the team! An Obama Administration official HAS RESIGNED because of the uproar from the Conservative new media!

FOX NEWS Reports:

President Barack Obama’s adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.

Van Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly “green jobs,” has been linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the Sept. 11 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.

Jones issued an apology on Thursday. When asked the next day whether Obama still had confidence in him, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said only that Jones “continues to work in the administration.”

The matter surfaced after news reports of a derogatory comment Jones made in the past about Republicans, and separately, of Jones’s name appearing on a petition connected to the events surrounding 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon.

That 2004 petition had asked for congressional hearings and other investigations into whether high-level government officers had allowed the attacks to occur.

Jones flatly said in his statement that he did not agree with the petition’s stand and that “it certainly does not reflect my views, now or ever.”

As for his other comments he made before joining Obama’s team, Jones said: “If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize.”

The Washington Post Blog, 44, has the Jones Statement:

“I am resigning my post at the Council on Environmental Quality, effective today,” Jones said in a statement dated Sept 5 released around midnight on Sept 6.

“On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me.They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide,” he continued. “I have been inundated with calls — from across the political spectrum — urging me to ‘stay and fight.’ But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future.”

Wait a second, you mean to tell me, that this stupid idiot thinks that these videos here; are distortions?!?!??! I think not. This idiot got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and now he’s out. Good thing too.

Well, that’s one down and many more to go.

But tonight, we celebrate!

Update: A little something from my friends at Free Republic Forum:

DUmmies Sobbings Their Little Hearts Out Over Loss of Racist “Truther” Van Jones (VANITY)

Posted on Sunday, September 06, 2009 2:12:00 AM by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

Enjoy their sweet, sweet pain and lamentations.

… and, for those who prefer to watch KOSsacks suffer and writhe in delicious torment: here. 😉

…and the photo of the weekend:

PWNED!

PWNED!

Too Awesome!

Update: AllahPundit Writes:

How I like to imagine Obama broke the news: “Let me be clear: Pack your sh*t.”

Oh man, that’s pee in the pants funny! I haven’t laughed like that in a while. Thanks Allah. 😀

Michelle Malkin, as always, is on top the fact that Liberal MSM is going to try and make this idiot into a martyr.

As always, Thanks to Memeornadum for the pull!

Van Jones…. WTF?!?!?!?!

I mean I have seen some serious shit in my my days here on this earth. Me being from Southwest Detroit and all. But this stuff here; takes the farking cake bad!

Check out these videos:

Here’s the first one, Van Jones basically calling George W. Bush a oil crack head….or something. (H/T HotAir)

The basically calling Middle American White kids killers and crazy or something…: (H/T HotAir)

Here he is in some sort of whacked out Music recording accusing White people of just every damn thing under the sun. (H/T HotAir)

Here’s Van Jones glorifying the doctrine of Communism:

Here some more kicker information on this whack job idiot. This dude supported Cop-Killer Death row inmate Mumia Abu Jamal: (H/T HotAir)

More than 150 demonstrators marched from 14th Street and Broadway to the Oakland Federal Building to demand that the Justice Department re-open its corruption investigation of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Supporters of Mumia Abu-Jamal, a death row inmate convicted for the 1981 shooting death of a Philadelphia police officer, said the protest was called after the Supreme Court on Monday rejected claims that Abu-Jamal, a former radio journalist and Black Panther, did not receive a fair trial.

“We knew there was another event going on, but the timing of the court decision is what dictated when the protest was held,” said Van Jones, a San Francisco civil rights lawyer who helped coordinate the protest march.

Jones said about 15 protesters occupied the rotunda at the Federal Building on Clay Street in an act of civil disobedience with the hope they would be arrested.

Okay, I am just going to say this and if pisses people off; tough. This dude was not vetted, and was basically given this damn job; because he was black. Point.farking.blank. If this dude was white and he had said the moral equivalent, about black people; what this guy said about Whites, This dude would have been out of a job, quicker than a New York minute.   But, because he is a black man and is in tight with Bambi, he still has a job and still is working for the White House. That is not racist, that my friends, is reality!

So, what does the Socialist left do, when they are beginning to feel the heat, because of Van Jones? They do the oldest trick in the book.

THEY PLAY THE RACE CARD!

You can see a perfect example of that, by clicking right here. They are now accusing Glenn Beck and the right of assembling a “Lynch Mob” against Van Jones. Go look, it is their words, not mine.

The part that is totally wild is this; Obama has painted himself into quite the corner on this one. Because if Obama cuts this guy loose. The far African-American left is going to turn on him, like a rabid dog. Not to mention the fact, that if Obama and Congress drops the Health-care Bill or passes it without the public option. The far left is really going to turn on him. However, I do not think it will get a chance to pass, because there have already been rumblings that indicate that if the bill has not public option, it will get no support at all. If this happens, Obama’s support among the progressives will erode and I do mean badly.

Either way, this is not going end will for the President. It is going to get much uglier, before it gets any prettier. It like watching a train wreak fixing to happen. You want to look, but you feel horrible about doing so….. and this Amtrak is about to hit the damn wall —- Hard.

Update: No Sooner than I wrote this posting. Mr. Jones Resigned.

Update #2: Stop the ACLU links in; Thank you! Right Wing News Links in; Thank you! Pirate’s Cove Links in; Thank You!

Update #3: As Always, A big thanks to Memeorandum for the Pull!

Yes, The AP was stupid….

Yes, They were.

That is all.

However, Villainous Company makes a very valid point:

When you decided to allow journalists to photograph the coffins of returning service members at Dover, you broke down a barrier that should have been left intact.

Since the dawn of time, human societies have had taboos. They exist for a reason. They exist because some things simply ought to be unthinkable, and nothing short of a total ban will prevent some people from pushing the envelope.

The media have contended, over and over, that the photographing of coffins and dead bodies and wounded soldiers or Marines thrashing about in agony are necessary to help the American people understand the cost of war. Evidently, the availability of graphic war movies depicting fountains of blood and oozing gore are insufficient visual aids.

The Associated Press took all of one hour to balance the newsworthiness of graphic photos of a fellow human being’s last moments against the wishes of Lance Corporal Joshua M. Bernard’s grieving family. In the end, compassion and human decency gave way to the profit incentive. Of course, the AP will claim they were motivated by elevated concerns that the American public, despite being exposed to violent and graphic footage on TV, cable, and at the movie theater on a daily basis, are too stupid to comprehend that explosions often result in shredded body parts, blood, agonizing pain, and death.

If that makes no sense to you, you’re not alone.

So if we buy into the notion that we need to see the results of violent episodes to truly understand their consequences, does this mean the media will now begin showing graphic footage of rape victims who have been beaten or tortured or cut to shreds by their attackers?

I tend to believe that Obama and the head of the Military are regretting their decision to allow photos of the war dead. Then again, maybe not. As we all know, liberals do hate our Military. Did not always used to be like that. There was a time when Democrats were the hawks and the Conservatives were the peace lovers. That all changed after 1964; with the rise of the “New Conservative” movement or Neo-Con as it sometimes badly called.

Somewhere, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, and possibly Dick Cheney are smiling.

The Obligatory Van Jones 9/11 truther, Whack Job Commie Posting

Yes, I know about it. I also about the spinning and the denial.

To me, it just speaks of the inability of this White House Administration to properly vet its staff. I mean, it is pretty freakin’ bad when the Conservative Blogosphere is doing your job for you. It is truly pathetic.

There is not much, that I can add to what has already been said. I think Mr. Jones will be out by Tuesday at the latest.

You can read the round up on this one on Memeorandum.

Patrick Ruffini wants to raise Buckley from the dead

Patrick Ruffini lamenting that the Conservative movement is not being taken seriously by anyone, but maybe themselves laments:

Over the last few days, Jon Henke has laid out the case for the Right more strongly disavowing outfits like WorldNetDaily that actively peddle Birther nonsense. To the extent the mainstream Right has weighed in, it has been to urge Jon to ignore WND and move on, in the interests avoiding an intra-movement civil war. Some have even tried to subtly distance Jon from the conservative movement, saying his views don’t represent those of most conservatives. Many on the Right have made the calculation that however distasteful their views, a public fight with the Birthers just isn’t worth it.

As a fiscal and social conservative, I happen to think Jon is completely in the right here, both substantively and strategically. Don’t raise the canard that we ought to be attacking Democrats first. Conservatives are entirely within their rights to have public debates over who will publicly represent them, and who will be allowed to affiliate with the conservative movement.

The Birthers are the latest in a long line of paranoid conspiracy believers of the left and right who happen to attach themselves to notions that simply are not true. Descended from the 9/11 Truthers, the LaRouchies, the North American Union buffs, and way back when, the John Birch Society, the Birthers are hardly a new breed in American politics.

Each and every time they have appeared, mainstream conservatives from William F. Buckley to Ronald Reagan have risen to reject these influences — and I expect that will be the case once again here.

But there is another subtext that makes Jon’s appeal more urgent. As a pretty down-the-line conservative, I don’t believe I am alone in noting with disappointment the trivialization, excessive sloganeering, and pettiness that has overtaken the movement of late. In “The Joe the Plumberization of the GOP,” I argued that conservatives have grown too comfortable with wearing scorn as a badge of honor, content to play sarcastic second fiddle to the dominant culture of academia and Hollywood with second-rate knock-off institutions. A side effect of this has been a tendency to accept conspiracy nuts as a slightly cranky edge case within the broad continuum of conservatism, rather than as a threat to the movement itself.
Via Can We Have Buckley Back? | The Next Right.

However, the real reasons that the Conservative movement is in the shape that it is in, is found right in the comments section of “The Next Right”

First there’s this:

I don’t know if you consider them elites, but I did—and I suspect many Republicans did as well.

Peggy Noonan

David Brooks

David Frum,

And, last but certainly not least, Kathleen Parker.

At a time when we were trying to win the 2008 elections, this crew was bashing Sarah Palin full-time.  The time for bashing had past; the time for banding together to win an election was at hand.  And what did this crew of elites do?  Elites, thank you very little. You played no small part in the fact that we now have an administration that has abandoned our ally Honduras and is spending our grandchildren into poverty.

The real way Bill Buckley saved conservatism was by inspiring Ronald Reagan, Tommy Thompson, John Engler, Newt Gingrich and others to enter the political world.  You know—the place where we pick people that actually MAKE LAWS, instead of writing witty op-eds and appearing on Hardball.

Recently, we watched another conservative elite, Charles Krauthammer, tell the world that Sarah Palin was unfit to engage in the healthcare debate…at the same time that her “death panels” charge helped sway the tone of debate against Obamacare.

Sorry, but I’m less than impressed with GOP elites.  They stabbed us in the back in 2008. Fool me once..

….and then, there is this:

We didn’t abandon you during the election, you abandoned us by nominating a weak liberal republican and a semi-retarded christian fundy. I’m not going to change my views to “fit in” with the GOP if that’s the way they want to represent me.

During 2008, I was bashing McCain and palin ( as well as Obongo ). I will continue to bash these type republicans until they get out of my party.

I would say that both of these are basically correct. Not to mention electing and then reelecting a President who’s Wilsonian foreign policy forced him to invade a Country that had zero to do with 9/11. That is why McCain was not elected and, too, because black people actually voted in this election. Not say that there is anything wrong with that fact; just making a point. Also, Obama’s campaign was just better ran and his message more clear. John McCain was too damn busy suspending his campaign to look like a hero. Which actually made him look like an idiot. Hence the reason he lost also.

I could go on and on. However, I think you know what I mean.

Update: Robert Stacey McCain basically agrees with me about WND and the Birthers. Now McCain and Palin are another story. He loves that feckless Woman. I, on the other hand, think that she is an idiot.

Update #2: Around the Sphere has a round up on the subject, all the while ignoring me.

Video: Neville Chamberlain – Britain’s declaration of war 1939

On September 1, 1939 German troops swarmed across the Polish border and unleashed the first Blitzkrieg the world had seen. Hitler had been planning his attack since March – ever since German troops occupied the remainder of Czechoslovakia. The Poles suspected as much and readied their defenses. Unfortunately the Poles based their defensive strategy on the experiences of World War I. Mobility was crucial – mobility provided by cavalry troops the Poles considered the best in the world. Indeed, their horsemen were probably the world’s best – but horses offered little defense against tanks.

Britain and France had sworn to defend Poland. Honoring these obligations, the two countries sent ultimatums to Hitler demanding his withdrawal from Poland. Hitler declined to respond. On September 3, Prime Minister Chamberlain went to the airwaves to announce to the British people that a state of war existed between their country and Germany. World War II had begun.

Unfortunately Chamberlain’s action was little help to the Poles. German troops advanced steadily. The final blow came on September 17 when Soviet forces under terms of a secret agreement with Germany marched into Poland from the East. Warsaw surrendered on September 27. By October 6, it was all over. Poland had ceased to exist as a country.

The Friday Church News Notes is designed for use in churches and is published by Way of Life Literature’s Fundamental Baptist Information Service. Unless otherwise stated, the Notes are written by David Cloud. Of necessity we quote from a wide variety of sources, but this does not imply an endorsement. NEWSWEEK SAYS “WE ARE ALL HINDUS NOW” (Friday Church News Notes, September 4, 2009, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) – In its August 31 issue, Newsweek magazine says, “We Are All Hindus Now.” The article reports, “[R]ecent poll data show that conceptually, at least, we are slowly becoming more like Hindus and less like traditional Christians in the ways we think about God, our selves, each other, and eternity. … The Rig Veda, the most ancient Hindu scripture, says this: ‘Truth is One, but the sages speak of it by many names.’ A Hindu believes there are many paths to God. … Americans are no longer buying [the Jesus is the only way] doctrine. According to a 2008 Pew Forum survey, 65 percent of us believe that ‘many religions can lead to eternal life’–including 37 percent of white evangelicals … Stephen Prothero, religion professor at Boston University, has long framed the American propensity for ‘the divine-deli-cafeteria religion’ as ‘very much in the spirit of Hinduism. … It’s about whatever works. If going to yoga works, great–and if going to Catholic mass works, great. And if going to Catholic mass plus the yoga plus the Buddhist retreat works, that’s great, too.’” NOTE FROM BROTHER CLOUD: In our estimation, this is a correct observation. Christianity in America is a mile wide and an inch thick. There is little biblical substance to it. At its heart is the judge not, rock & roll philosophy of live and let live, but this is covered with a thin veneer of Christianity and ill-defined “spirituality.” Typical American Christianity rejects the Bible’s absolute authority and exclusiveness. It is more akin to New Age than Bible, and in fact, New Age philosophy is essentially Hinduism.

BURY ME WITH MY CELL PHONE (Friday Church News Notes, September 4, 2009, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) – There is a growing custom of people being buried with their cell phones. Noelle Potvin, a counselor for a funeral home in Hollywood, California, said, “It seems that everyone under 40 who dies takes their cell phone with them” (“Bury Me with My Cell Phone,” MSNBC.com, Dec. 16, 2008). The practice has been observed in other countries, as well. According to Frank Perman, owner of a funeral home in Pittsburg, the custom has grown over the past five years and is expected to increase exponentially. Some consider it a way to stay connected. Los Angeles funeral planner Pam Vetter says, “I’ve seen people leave cell phones on and tell me they’re going to call their loved one later.” The wife of John Jacobs continues to pay the monthly bill for the cell phone that was left in his casket in 2005. She had his cell number carved onto his tombstone. The desire to reach beyond death is in every man, and when men do not believe the Bible they grasp at other possibilities and techniques. When the famous escape artist Harry Houdini in 1926, he promised his wife, Bess, that he would try to contact her from beyond the grave. Each year she held a séance on Halloween night, the night of his death, seeking to contact her departed husband. In 1936, the disappointed Bess held the final Houdini séance. Thank the Lord that eternal life is possible, but it does not come through technology or occultism or blind faith. It is a reality for those who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13).

Quote of the Day

There is no question that the Obama administration has been badly damaged this summer, but it can still regroup if it doesn’t panic. Most Americans want a fair health care system and are worried about protecting their families from devastating illness.

But at this point, they may be more worried about a White House that is not only losing the health care debate, but is failing to control the crazies on their side. Not exactly a healthy situation.

“The Jig is up, Fatso!” Says, The Washington Post?

You know you have waded too far into the stinky, when the Washington Post tells you that you need to step down from a committee!

FOR POLITICIANS with major bad news to release or to make public, there’s no time like the dead of August to do it. The thinking goes that the public won’t remember a thing come September. We hope Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.) will have no such luck. His belated revelation of previously unreported income, property and bank accounts demands that he step aside as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Mr. Rangel’s amended financial disclosure form, which exposes omissions from his 2002 through 2006 records, is a treasure trove of outrage. He neglected to report a checking account with the Congressional Federal Credit Union and one with Merrill Lynch, each valued between $250,000 and $500,000; the tens of thousands of dollars he’s earning from dividends from a number of mutual funds and stocks; and the money made from the sale of a Harlem townhouse. As a result, Mr. Rangel’s reported net worth doubled, from between $516,015 and $1,316,000 to between $1,028,024 and $2,495,000.

Before anyone criticizes me for calling Charlie Rangel a fatso. Let me just say, that I AM a fatso too. So, please spare me the lectures. 🙄

HotAir.com and Michelle Malkin have been tireless in documenting the fact that Charlie Rangel’s corruption has been that of legend. It is quite refreshing to see the Washington Post finally admitting that Rengel is too corrupt to serve any longer. His resignation from the House would be a welcome thing as well.

…and before anyone accuses me of only pointing out the corruption of the Democrats. Try searching the “Corruption” Tag and Category on this Blog. You will see that I criticize the Republicans, just as hard as I do the Democrats. Corruption is wrong; no matter which party is involved with it.

Hmmmmm, Maybe the public option isn’t so dead after all.

My Buddy Sammy over at “Yid with a Lid” has pointed out some interesting things about the so-called’ “Public Option. Looks like we should not break out the bubbly just yet:

* House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she is firmly committed to passing a comprehensive healthcare reform bill with a public insurance option despite signals from top White House aides that the president may forge another path to gain bipartisan approval. “We can’t pass a bill without a public option,” Pelosi told reporters after speaking at a healthcare event hosted by the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce in her home district.

* The AFL-CIO drew a line in the sand today, saying a health care reform bill must include three specific elements — including a government-sponsored health insurance plan, or “public option” — in order to win their support.

* Democracy for America, the liberal advocacy group founded by former Democratic National Committee Chair Howard Dean, expects the president to reiterate his support for the public option when he addresses Congress next week, DFA spokeswoman Mary Rickles said. Meanwhile, she said, her group and its 400,000 members will continue to pressure members of Congress to back the proposal. “Any member of Congress who votes for a bill without a public option and against the wishes of the American people will stand alone for reelection,” she said.

* With or without any skeletons in their closet, members of Congress should feel pressured to vote for a public option if they want to keep their seats, argues the group the Progressive Change Campaign Committee.

* House Progressive Caucus co-chair Lynn Woolsey, D-Calif., said it will be a “grave error” for Congress to draft a health care reform bill that does not include a government run health insurance option and she believes there are enough liberal lawmakers to block its passage. Woolsey said she is setting up a meeting with President Barack Obama, who this week signaled that he would not insist that a public option be a component of the health care reform bill that is to be the crowning achievement of his first term in office. “The president must support,” a strong public option, Woolsey said, “and he must tell the Senate to get its act together.”

So, before everyone celebrates, keep vigil until after this bill officially dies. Because you know Democrats, you let your guard up for one minute and they will sneak something through, when we are not looking. Kudo’s to Sammy for pointing all this out to us. Good Job! 😀

Obama should really look into feeding his supporters

Otherwise, stuff like this here is just gonna keep on happening.

The Story KTLA:

A 65-year-old man had his finger bitten off Wednesday evening at a health care rally in Thousand Oaks, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s investigators were called to Hillcrest and Lynn Road at 7:26 p.m.

About 100 protesters sponsored by MoveOn.org were having a rally supporting health care reform. A group of anti-health care reform protesters formed across the street.

A witness from the scene says a man was walking through the anti-reform group to get to the pro-reform side when he got into an altercation with the 65-year-old, who opposes health care reform.

The 65-year-old was apparently aggressive and hit the other man, who then retaliated by biting off his attacker’s pinky, according to Karoli from DrumsnWhistles, who attended the rally.

The man took his finger and walked to Los Robles hospital for treatment. Doctors reattached the finger, which was said to have been severed in half. He has since been released, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Neither man has been identified.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Frank O’Hanlon says the man had Medicare.

Sheriff’s officials are investigating the incident.

Seriously, Obama should at least provide food for his supporters of his Socialized Health-care plan. 😛

The Confederate Yankee says that Obama’s new Motto should be Yes We Cannibal! 😆

But seriously, I think there was wrong doing on both sides and the police should have a bit more attentive to who was where and what they were doing. The man who is against the healthcare bill should not have punched anyone and of course; the man took at bit too far biting the man’s finger off.

I think everyone and I do mean everyone; needs to take a step back and relax. The President is supposed to make an address and I believe that he is going to make it clear, that he is not going to push for the public option. Some are claiming that they are going to try and rename it. I highly doubt that to be the case, because President Obama is taking great heat for that proposal and I doubt that he or the Congress at this point, would try and sneak anything in, as they are quite aware that people are actually reading the bills.

But honestly….. Biting off fingers!?!?!? Eeeeewwwww! 😮 😯
