These people are so damned desperate, it is almost laughable:
Last summer, Democrats argued that the Tea Party movement was the astroturf creation of corporate groups. Now that the grass-roots conservative resurgence has emerged as a clear force on the right, the left is making a different case: That tea parties are simply the enemy.
Stay Classy Liberals! (yeah right....)
To that end, the Agenda Project, a new, progressive group with roots in New York’s fundraising scene and a goal of strengthening the progressive movement, has launched the “F.*.c.k. Tea project,” which is aimed, the group’s founder Erica Payne wrote in an e-mail this morning, “to dismiss the Tea Party and promote the progressive cause.”
“”We will be launching new products in the next several months to help people all over the country F*ck Tea,” Payne told POLITICO. “Products like a Glenn Beck Bowl Buddy (Beck B Scrubbin) and others are perfect holiday gifts or just a great way to say, ‘I love you and our country’ to your spouse, friend or family.”
Payne, a veteran consultant to progressive groups, is a co-founder of the Democracy Alliance, the low-profile group of liberal mega-donors who helped build the Center for American Progress and other new organizations that grew in the Bush years.
The new project, so far, features merchandise, polling statistics aimed to paint Tea Party members as ignorant, and a mocking video.
Update: Here is their little classless video. Complete with an cute little “F You” Song…. (NSFW!) (H/T to Wake Up America)
Ah yes, what a way to show class and diversity, than to market a t-shirt the basically slams, mocks and says “FUCK YOU!” to the good majority of America. WOW. đŻ đźÂ The chutzpah there is outstanding. What these mental midgets seem to forget is that Conservatives, “Right of Center’s” and classic liberals, like me; are in fact, Americans too — and when you say, “FUCK YOU!” to people like me, you alienate people — like me.
Having said that, it’s time to fight fire…..with fire:
Click the link and buy the shirt please.. (PLEASE?!??!?!?!?! đ„ ) It will go towards supporting my blog. Before anyone asks, yes, that is as cheap as I can sell it.
Update #2: At least one liberal blogger, so far, is saying that this is a very stupid idea. Mark your calendars, because this is the first time that I am going to say this — KUDOS TO HIM FOR SAYING IT! đ đ Also Kudos to Gawker as well.
But, hey, imagine a Conservative group had come up with âf*ck progressives.â The Left would have howled like werewolves on crack. For conservatives, weâll simply just highlight these wankers, and move on with our lives.
Ha! Uh, Dude? đ I tried leaving a comment at his blog, but they disappeared. Oh well, I tried. đ
Update 5:Smitty objects on moral grounds… Um, Smitty? Give this a listen….(NSFW, of course…) :
Here is another example of why I distance myself from the Christian Far-Right in this Country.
A person by the name of Bryan Fischer over at a Blog named Focal Point at the American Family Association writes the following:
Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government.
Each one is a potential jihadist recruitment and training center, and determined to implement the âGrand Jihadâ of which Andy McCarthy has written.
Here is the strategy, in their own words, in the words of âAn Explanatory Memorandumâ circulated by the Muslim Brotherhood in 1991 which outlines âthe General Strategic Goalâ for the Islamic movement âin North America.â
He proceeds to quote the following:
Read it and shudder:
Muslims âmust understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and âsabotagingâ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Godâs religion is made victorious over all other religions…It is a Muslimâs destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny…â (emphasis mine)
Here is where Mr. Fischer goes astray; he is quoting from The Muslim Brotherhood, A Muslim extremist group, who has been banned in other Muslim Countries. What he is doing here, is something that is common in Far-Right, Conservative Christian circles and that is the use of collectivism; assuming that ALL Muslims believe exactly the way that the Muslim Brotherhood believes. The question is, does the Muslim Brotherhood speak for all Muslims? The Muslim Brotherhood might believe that they do; but the question is, do they actually speak for the entire Muslim Community? Some would say that Fischer is a bigot, I will not assume that, I do not know Mr. Fischerâs heart. But, I will say that the attitude that this man is portraying here is the same attitude that was displayed towards the black race in the south during the Jim Crow era.
Fischer continues:
Because of this subversive ideology, Muslims cannot claim religious freedom protections under the First Amendment. They are currently using First Amendment freedoms to make plans to destroy the First Amendment altogether. There is no such thing as freedom of religion in Islam, and it is sheer and utter folly for Americans to delude themselves into thinking otherwise.
Ask the Hutaree Christian militia how much good it did them to plaster Bible verses all over their website while plotting attacks against government officials. They are currently pondering the limits of the First Amendment, as they should, from the inside of a jail cell. The First Amendment cannot be used as a cloak for subversive activity.
Again, Mr. Fischer is assuming that all Muslims agree with the Muslim Brotherhood, which again is a faulty reasoning.
Another point I would like to make here. It is a point that I am sure that Mr. Fischer most likely did not think about. The idea of the United States Government banning the new construction of Religious building is not a smart one. The reasoning is this; that whole idea can be a two-edged sword. The same United States Government that would tell Muslims that they could not build Mosques —- is the same Government that could suddenly decide that new Churches should not be built either. Do you see where I am going with this? The less that the United States Government gets involved with the Religious affairs of America, the better. We have that first amendment for a reason; and I, as a FundamentalistBaptist Christian, would prefer if it stayed that way!
This whole idea, that we have to treat Muslims different than any other religion is flawed on itâs face. Yes, I know that Islamic terrorism is an issue. If and when the Government finds these people, we should arrest them. But it is the Muslim communityâs job to insure that extremism is rooted out of itâs ranks. Not the United States Governmentâs.
If we being to allow the Government to exercise any sort of control over ANY aspect of ANY religion at all, we will be putting ourselves unto a slippery slope that we will never be able to reverse.
President George W. Bush Greeting the troops at Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport earlier today
Allow me this space to write a few words…. I will be the first to say that I did not always agree with President George W. Bush on policy. But I will say this; I did always know, just right where he stood, on all policy matters. For all of his faults while he was in office; the man did one thing right and that was the decision to sacrifice his Presidency for the war on terror. President Bush knew the stakes and knew the he would most likely become a lame duck President. However, that did not bother him and he did what he had to do, to defend this great nation of ours.
Like him or not….President Bush was and still is a leader, he loved our Military and was willing to take the heat of criticism from the left, for the many deaths of our Military’s officers during the Iraqi war.
I may not have voted for him, but I do and will alwaysrespect him.
It seems that the liberal left just cannot get over its urges to engage into classless behavior.
As you all know, Senator Ted Stevens died in a plane crash yesterday. Well, leave it to the classless left to use a death of a Republican Senator to wish death on a Conservative Republican likeâŠâŠ you guessed it, Sarah Palin: (H/T The Politico)
Not to be outdone, Natch Greyes, a staffer for Democratic Rep. and Senate hopeful Paul Hodes tweeted the following on July 21st:
Now before any of you on the left say, âWell, the right does it too!â To that I say, âYep, and when they do, I report it here.â Perfect example of which can be found here. Not only this; but there is this point too — I am not a Sarah Palin fan, at all. But there is just no call for this sort of hatemongering between the Parties. I mean, my God, are we all children or are we adults here?
I really think some people need to grow up and act their ages, instead of their shoe sizes.
CONCORD â The New Hampshire Republican State Committee today denounced Democrat NH House candidate Keith Halloranâs public death wish for former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The Party also called on Governor John Lynch and Congressional Candidate Ann McLane Kuster to personally denounce his hateful remarks and call for him to apologize to the Palin family.
In a Facebook post yesterday regarding the tragic plane crash that killed former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, Halloran wrote, âJust wish Sarah and Levy [sic] were on board.” Levi Johnston is the father of Governor Palinâs grandson (RedHampshire, 8/11).
âMr. Halloranâs outrageous comments are a new low, even by the standards of the New Hampshire Democrat Party,” said NHGOP Communications Director Ryan Williams. “His publicly stated death wish for Governor Palin and her family is abhorrent, and has no place in our public discourse. Governor Lynch and Ann McLane Kuster need to immediately denounce Mr. Halloranâs hateful remarks and demand that he personally apologize to the Palin family.
The Democrat Party needs to take a stand here and tell this guy to cool it or else.
I have some advice for Senator Reid. If he wants to find out how someone of Hispanic heritage can be a Republican, he can call Brian Sandoval in Nevada. Reid should be able to recognize Sandoval, because heâs currently beating Reidâs son Rory like a drum in the polls for the gubernatorial race (via Karl in the Green Room). Small wonder Rory has stopped using his dadâs name in his campaign advertising.
At first, when I saw this clip, I resisted posting it. Because I was kind of worried that this might be another Sharrod moment. However, after thinking about it. This is exactly how Democrats think. I have heard the same statements made by blacks, about blacks who decide that the Democratic Party is just not for them and runs against their Conservative Christian values. They are called uncle tomâs, house negroâs and so forth. That is, what is called, âthe plantation mentality,â and when you stray off of that plantation, you get scolded by the plantation boss. That is because the Democratic Party and Liberals in general, do not what you to think for yourself. The Democratic Party and the Liberals want to do your thinking for you. They want to be the ones to decide what is good for you and what is not. You do not have an personality; you are just a number and a contributor to our master plan!
That is the tragic thing about the Democratic Party. It claims to the party of the people; when in reality it is nothing but the party of the Government, for the Government, and BY the Government — and the people, of whoâs tax dollars pay for this Government, has no say so in what they choose to do. âYou will do what you are told and you will like it!â is the thought process behind these socialists. The sick and sad part is this; many hard working, middle class Americans, (Like my Parents) fall into the trap of believing what these bastards tell them. These poor people actually believe that the Democratic Party is on their side. When in all honesty, these people do not give two flips about the American people. They just care about their socialist agenda and the people are just an means to an end. Many socialists have admitted that in the past.
We need to remember this in the coming 2010 elections here in Michigan and in the coming 2012 elections as well and vote accordingly.
Michelle Malkin, whom I do not always agree with politically, but of whom I do respect, has a great write up on this as well. Check it out!
Now I am going to be perfectly honest with you. I have about as much interest in the primary results from other states; as I would going to a Roman Catholic Seminary. After all, it is not like anyone is really paying me to sit here and analyze the political impact of a primary race in another state.
However, take heart! There is someone out there who does actually get paid; albeit by a right wing news outlet, to sit and expound upon the primary results. Ed Morrissey; of whom I happen to believe is one of the more level-headed Conservative Bloggers out there, gives his personal analysis on the primary results.
Honestly, the thing that I am focused on here; is the general election in November. That little event cannot come fast enough for Michigan.
I have intentionally have avoided writing about this until it was confirmed.
I am sure all of you know about the passing of Ted Stevens.
I mean, what am I really supposed to say? The man is dead. Whatever happened prior to his death, really does not mean a thing now. The Government dropped its case; because of some very stupid screw ups of its very own.
The thing that ticks me off, is this morons on the left and some on the right, that feel the need to bring up and rehash the manâs supposed misdeeds. Honestly, who gives to flips what the man did? He is dead now! It really should not matter anymore.
What is known and what is the truth is this; a wife has lost her Husband. Sons and Daughters have lost their beloved Father. Grandchildren have lost their grandfather. An entire family has lost its patriarch. A life taken by tragic accident.
God Bless Him, Stevens is with the Lord. He lived a very full life, served his Country proudly. He has passed from Death unto life and is now at peace.
As everyone else on the right, that has any sort of morals has said —- May he rest in peace and my prayers are with the family.
The White House is simmering with anger at criticism from liberals who say President Obama is more concerned with deal-making than ideological purity.
During an interview with The Hill in his West Wing office, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs blasted liberal naysayers, whom he said would never regard anything the president did as good enough.
âI hear these people saying heâs like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,â Gibbs said. âI mean, itâs crazy.â
The press secretary dismissed the âprofessional leftâ in terms very similar to those used by their opponents on the ideological right, saying, âThey will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and weâve eliminated the Pentagon. Thatâs not reality.â
Of those who complain that Obama caved to centrists on issues such as healthcare reform, Gibbs said: âThey wouldnât be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president.â
Okay, maybe that was bit cruel. But, hey this is what happens when you elect someone based upon personality and not based on the issues. But then again, President Obama does seem to have some awfully thin skin. I do not recall Clinton griping every time someone criticized him.
You can tell it is a slow news day when I am reporting on this idiotic crap….:
Ricky Hollywood - Not your average blowhole
Johnston will run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska — yes, the same job that propelled Sarah Palin to governor of that state (and later, the vice presidential nomination) — in a new reality project being pitched by Stone and Co.
“Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office” will center on Johnston’s newfound fame as the baby daddy to Palin’s grandson, Tripp.
Johnston will trade on that notoriety to make his run for Wasilla City Hall — when he’s not pursuing a career in Hollywood, of course.
Sarah Palin - Not your average whatever she is....
Stone and Co. are already shooting the show’s pilot and have started pitching the show to networks.
Johnston admitted that he wasn’t thrilled at first about the mayoral campaign concept, which was pitched to him by Stone’s Scott Stone and David Weintraub.
“But the more I think about it and look into it, I think there’s a possibility we can make it happen,” Johnston said of his political prospects. “It’s something that I want to do.”
Johnston already has a campaign manager, Tank Jones, to help him with the task. Wasilla’s mayoral chair isn’t actually up for election until 2012, but in the meantime, Jones said Johnston may look to run for city council.
I must ask a question; I am the only person in America right now that wishes that these two morons would just disappear and quit trying to put themselves into my face and my life, and quit trying to insert themselves into the national conservation on politics or anything else for that matter? I mean, seriously! What in the hell does this feckless bitch have to say, that any sensible America would even remotely want to hear? I mean, during the 2008 election, this woman rode in on the white horse of Conservative Christianity in the Republican Party — all the while knowing that her daughter was pregnant. She chose to try and cover it up. That is right; she lied to the American people and to the Republican Party. Now she wants us to believe that she is some sort of a leader. Please, Sarah, do not make me laugh; you cannot even lead your own family or your children properly; and you want to lead this Nation? Give me and the rest of the American people a break here. Because quite frankly, we are just not that stupid.
Oh and those so-called “American Values” that you claim to represent? Well, one of those values Sarah, is freedom of speech. It is quite clear to me, Mrs. Palin that you do not value that right; as evidenced in this previous waste of bandwidth about you. The only type of speech that you value, is friendly speech, nothing else. If anyone dares to mock, deride, and even criticize you. You go out of your way to try and destroy them. You did this in Alaska many times and was called out for it by many people; including those within your own party in Alaska.
So, to you Mrs. Palin I say; please, just go away. Because quite frankly at this point, you are nothing more than a funny minstrel show; a side show, a train wreck waiting to happen. Only reason people even look at you is because like a train wreck, once you see it, you can never look away. Also, please, do not delude yourself to believe that anyone in Conservatism actually takes anything you say, with any sort of seriousness. I mean, the only thing most Conservative men find you useful for is for a object to look at during masturbation or something similar. You are nothing more anymore in Conservatism than a pin up girl.
…and God knows at this point, the Republican Party and Conservatism needs something more than a pin up girl. We need serious leadership, and not some rock star pin up girl who believes that she is entitled to be President, because she is a woman.
More important, what critics of Mrs. Obama have forgotten is that style matters for women in high-profile positions, not just for the pageantry and the symbolism of it, but also for the lessons it can impart. Perhaps there was nothing to be learned from Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton’s $2,000 Oscar de la Renta pantsuits, because they didn’t have much invested in the way they looked. But critics of Mrs. Obama fail to see the powerful message of self-possession that her appearance carries for millions of young women, especially African-American women. Style and the care you put into how you present yourself to the world are not just frivolous endeavors, they are powerful tools of communication. Mrs. Obama uses her own image and appearance to connect with other women and to teach them how to take care of themselves, how to improve their lives. That look is not expensive; it’s priceless.
My frequent references to Mrs. Other McCain (âsheâs got a kitchen full of knives and Iâve got to sleep sometimeâ) are a humorous allusion to a serious reality. When I flew back from Vegas a couple weeks ago, after having been a wee bit reckless at the roulette wheel, Mrs. Other McCain was so mad at me she wouldnât even pick me up at the airport. She was so mad, in fact, she honestly didnât care whether I came home or not. It was one of the most awful feelings of my life.
Remember, she met me when I was making $275 a week as the sports editor of a twice-weekly paper in a Georgia carpet-mill town you never heard of. She only married me because I promised her the sun, the moon and the stars, and Iâd have never amounted to anything had it not been for (a) my determination to fulfill that promise and (b) having a sensible wife who supplies the necessary caution to balance my wild-eyed impulsiveness. When I was scrambling to find a way home from the airport a couple of weeks ago, I wasnât just feeling heartbroken over the possible loss of her superfine sexiness, but also facing a potentially shattering blow to my entire self-concept.
Another pathetic middle-aged divorced guy? Not me.
No sir: One life, one wife.
A major reason guys become that pathetic middle-aged divorced stereotype is because, to quote the immortal poetry of Kitty Wells, âtoo many times, married men think theyâre still single.â
Or as is more often the case, they convey that impression by employing a timeworn lie: âMy wife doesnât understand me.â
Girls, if a married guy ever throws that line on you, run â donât walk â in the opposite direction. Preferably, after youâve thrown a drink in the guyâs face.
Poor guy. I feel for him. This is why I am single.
Kathleen: You swore on your precious Bible that you would uphold the interests of this state, and then when cash was waved in front of your face, you quit.
Palin: OH, you WANTED me to be your governor! Iâm honored! Thank you!
Kathleen: I wanted you to honor your responsibilities. That is what I wanted. I wanted you to be part of the political process instead of becoming a celebrity so that you could (inaudible). And if thatâs the best you could do, then good for you. If thatâs the best you could do.
Palin: Hereâs the deal. Hereâs the deal. (inaudible) Thatâs what Iâm out there fightinâ for Americans to be able to have a Constitution protected so that we can have free speechâŠAnd ALSO thereâŠ
Kathleen: In what way are you fighting for that?
Palin: Oh my goodness!
Kathleen: In what way?
Palin: To elect candidates who understand the Constitution, to protect our military interests so that we can keep on fightinâ for our constitution that will protect some of the freedoms that evidently are important to you too.
Kathleen: By using your celebrity status, certainly not by political status.
Palin Daughter: How is she a celebrity? Thatâs my question.
Palin: Iâm honored! No, she thinks Iâm a celebrity!
Palin Daughter: Thatâs funny that you think she is.
Kathleen: Well, youâre certainly not representing the state of Alaska any longerâŠeven thoughâŠ
Palin Daughter: Sheâs representing United States?
Kathleen: Yes, I know. You belong to America now, and that suits me just fine. Yeah.
Palin: What do you do here?
Kathleen: Iâm a teacher
Palin: Oh. (Eye roll and protracted grimace)
Palin Daughter: Oh.
Kathleen: I also have a few other jobs. Iâm married to a commercial fisherman. And so I fish.
Palin: Oh thatâs cool. So am I! I married to-we probably have a lot in common!
Kathleen: Yeah. You know, I think that we do.
Palin: Hi! (waves to camera) Are we on video?
Kathleen: Too bad. Iâm more of a still camera girl myself. (inaudible) I am, I amâŠI will tell you Iâm very pleased to meet you.
Palin: Iâm honored to meet you, I really am. And, no we both agree on the freedom of speech and the-
Kathleen: Yes we do.
Palin: you know â the protection of that. So, um, no I and, you know⊠best of everything to you too and Yeah.
Kathleen: Thank you for coming over.
Palin: Well, okay. Itâs nice to meet you anyway.
Kathleen was motivated by the fact Palin was using the very place where her family makes a living to fortify the Palin personality cult — pretending to do the very thing they worked so hard to sustain. Initially, Kathleen just wanted to waste a little of the camera crew’s time, since Palin wasted so much of her time purporting to represent Alaska’s interests.
She didn’t imagine Palin would be so easy to draw out.
Saturday morning, Billy Sullivan helped Kathleen tape the banner up on his place of business at the top of the boat ramp. Then here she came. Sarah.
She couldn’t just walk by. Only a few fishermen and tourists would have seen the banner, but Sarah had to stop and protest. I spoke with Kathleen. She said she wanted Palin to know how she felt, but never dreamed she’d get the chance to say to her face, “You’re not a leader, you’re a climber!” Early in the conversation, Sarah actually winked at Kathleen in what seemed to be a case of eyelid Tourette’s Syndrome.
At one point, a Palin daughter chanted, “You’re just jealous”. Kathleen told Sarah she was disappointed that she dropped her responsibility to the state to became a celebrity. Palin said incredulously, “I’m honored. No, she thinks I’m a celebrity!” Really? So the camera crew wasn’t an indicator? How many times do you have to be on magazine covers to gain celebrity status? Something about camping with Kate Plus Eight in rain slickers seems, well, a little celebrity.
Billy Sullivan caught much of the interchange on his cell phone camera. The back of her security guard’s head and Todd Palin attempted to block Billy’s view, continually rotating like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. What were they afraid of? I guess that’s what happens when you’re filming a “celebrity”. He was even told by one of the Palin daughters, “You’re an A-hole”. Charming family values.
I asked both Billy and Kathleen which Palin daughter said what. Neither knew. They don’t have televisions and aren’t interested in Palin’s personal life and dramas.
In what has become typical tragic irony, Sarah initially claimed to support Kathleen’s First Amendment Rights. But as soon as Billy Sullivan walked toward the dock, one of Palin’s entourage tore down the sign to great applause from her group.
Todd Palin approached Billy (who owns a business called Dockside Fish and buys halibut on that dock) and asked him to get out of the Discovery crew’s shot. “You just can’t get enough of her, can you?” he asked. An Alaska State Trooper told Billy he should call the Homer Police Department and report the trespassing and destruction of property.
What the Palin folks don’t seem to understand is simple; if Fred Phelps gets to hold his hateful signs up at military funerals, Billy should be able to put Kathleen’s “WORST GOVERNOR EVER” banner on his building and not have a Palin goon tear it down.
The First Amendment only matters when you say or write something someone else doesn’t like.
For someone who doesn’t hold elected office and denies being a celebrity, Sarah Palin may want to get a “Constitutional Handler”.
You know see why I did not vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin; I could not in good conscience, vote for someone like that, ever.
The LSM has now decided to use this brief encounter for another one of their spin operations. They claim I â wait for it â âappear to roll my eyesâ when the lady tells me sheâs a teacher. Yes, itâs come to this: the media is now trying to turn my eyebrow movements into story lines. (Maybe thatâs why Botox is all the rage â if you canât move your eyebrows, your âeye rollingâ canât be misinterpreted!) If they had checked their facts first, they would have known that I come from a family of teachers; my grandparents were teachers, my father was a teacher, my brother is a teacher, my sister works in Special Needs classrooms, my aunt is a school nurse, my mom worked as a school secretary for much of her professional life, we all volunteer in classrooms, etc., etc., etc. Given that family history, how likely is it that I would âroll my eyesâ at someone telling me that they too work in that honorable profession? Stay classy, LSM.
…and as usual, the stupid bitch does not get why the liberals are on her ass. The reason is; because of this right here:
Freedom of Speech, not in Sarah Palin's World, only when it is friendly speech. Hey Sarah, what about that Constitution you claim to want to defend? Stupid Bitch......
Nuff Said…
Update #2: I know someone is going to mention this; so I will get it out of the way. I realize you might be reading this and noticing the Palin ads. I can do something to remove them. But, I would cut into my revenue. So, I won’t block Newsmax. You can click and vote no, and I will get paid still. đ đ
Pastor Donald Crosby - Bible-Thumping Moron at large
Warner Robins police say they arrested Pastor Donald Crosby Monday morning as he and a group of supporters protested Warner Robins High School’s “Demon” nickname and mascot.
Warner Robins police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh says 36-year-old Crosby was arrested after police told him he didn’t have a picketing permit, as required by the city.
Crosby and the group set up the protest outside the school on the opening day of classes because of their opposition to the school’s Demon team nickname.
The pastor says his son attends the school and he doesn’t want him exposed to the name’s evil connotations.
Meanwhile family members are mourning the passing of their own, who was a Mennonite Medical Missionary, who was killed in Afghanistan:
AKRON, Pa. (AP) â A Mennonite international aid group based in central Pennsylvania says a medical worker gunned down in Afghanistan is only the third person killed in its 90-year history.
Representative John Williamson of the Mennonite Central Committee describes 40-year-old Lancaster, Pa., resident Glen Lapp as a âvery kind, loving, respectful person.â
Williamson says Lapp was due to finish a two-year assignment in Afghanistan in October.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the Thursday shooting deaths of Lapp and nine other volunteers, saying the workers were trying to convert Muslims to Christianity.
But Williamson says any claims that Lappâs group was proselytizing in the region are ârubbish.â
Lapp was working with a charity that was providing eye care and other medical services in the country.
I ask you, which one of these two sounds more like an actual Christian to you? A man who gave his life, so he could help others; or some idiotic freak who think it’s his God-Given mandate to protest some schools Mascot?
…and they wonder why I will not attend Church anymore…
But where Perino defended the First Ladyâs trip, she turned the tables on Dowd, saying âIt must be hard to be that angry all the time about everything.â Zing!
The end of the world? Obviously not. Tone deaf? Absolutely. And itâs telling that this tone-deaf, Marie Antoinette moment comes from the administration that continues to play class warfare to expand government control over the most private aspects of American lives.
My question to Ed and rest of the Conservatives and Republicans is this; would this criticism be as howling loud, if the President’s skin was white? I somehow highly doubt it. For the record, I am not calling Ed Morrissey personally a racist; I just have some reservations about all of this howling over what Michelle Obama does. Yes, I know about the recession and the tone deafness and private sector intrusion. I just wonder, where were all these carnival barkers when Bush was bailing out the banks? Where were they when Bush was spending all of this money taking us into a war; that had zero to do with 9/11?
This is one of the reasons why I have been avoiding this story. Mainly because of the partisanship that is behind it. I am all for criticizing the President; when he actually does something that is worthy of criticism. However, I am just not interested in partaking in, what I like to call partisan carnival barking. This blog, unlike others, is not a partisan blog. I mean, when the President does something, that I feel is detrimental to America; by all means, I will criticize him, scream, holler and swing from the rafters if need be. (Okay, maybe I won’t do the swinging.. I am a bit heavy for that…) However, I just will not sit here and gripe about something that Bush could have and would have done. To me, that is just stupid.
I will say that the carnival does happen on the left too and yes, it is equally as dumb. I have been known to call it out on here as well. So, if you happen to see a story and I have not covered, this is most likely why.
Some leading tea party activists are concerned that their efforts to reshape American politics, starting with the 2010 elections, are being undermined by a shortage of cash thatâs partly the result of a deep ambivalence within the movementâs grassroots over the very idea of fundraising, and partly attributable to an inability to win over the wealthy donors who fund the conservative establishment.
Many tea party organizations have shied away from the heavy-handed solicitations that flood the email boxes of political activists. And the handful of tea party groups that have raised substantial amounts, either by embracing aggressive fundraising or through pre-existing connections to wealthy donors, are viewed suspiciously within the movement.
Local groups have been left to literally pass hats seeking donations at their meetings or rely on their organizersâ bank accounts, while ssome national groups have failed to live up to their bold fundraising predictions.
âI donât blame them, since most of these people are so new to the process and they donât know anything beyond the protests, but, at the end of the day, the energy and the passion will only take you so far,â said Ned Ryun, president of American Majority, a non-profit group that teaches grassroots conservative activists how to influence the political process. âWithout money, nothing quite works like it could.â
——— The other issue is direction. Having only a few people funding events and promotion leaves the movement at the mercy of just those few. He who pays the piper calls the tune, and while that hasnât been a problem up to this point, the decentralized nature of the movement and the lack of broader sources of funding might create opportunities for embarrassment and misdirection at some point.
For a political movement with such a broad impact, the future seems somewhat murky. Will the Tea Party movement be satisfied with turning out Democrats in the upcoming midterms? Will it continue to gather energy long enough to help make Barack Obama a one-term President and put Republicans back in charge? If so, activists will have to start planning for long-term funding and embrace some of the parts of politics that has until now been distasteful for these grassroots.
Another thing that I believe is fair to point out is this; one thing I believe that that Vogel does not seem to understand, but I know that Ed does. The “Tea Party” movement; of whom the name was shamelessly stolen from a group that was an offshoot of the Libertarian Party — which ultimately stalled — is not a single group. However But rather a collection of individual groups that have a similar goal in mind, and that is bring some sort of fiscal responsibility back to Washington. Like it has been observed on other blogs, whenever there is a large movement like this, there will always be kooks and extremists who infiltrate these groups and also there will be groups, of whom their motives are less than noble.
Another point, that I feel that I should add is this; I have spoken to many of these various group’s leaders via e-mail. Politico is right about one point. They are deeply suspicious of anyone, who has a huge bank account. I can recall one conversation with one leader, of whom I will never reveal his identity; basically this “well heeled” person wanted to donate to this groups cause and basically, he was told to take his “Jew Money” elsewhere, and that his Neo-Conservatism was not wanted within those circles. Yes, the man was Jewish and Yes, he had been a Bush supporter; that included the war in Iraq too. Now, let me be clear on something, I am not saying I approve of such stuff; I am just relaying what was told to me, by someone else. I will be so bold to even say, that anyone who turns a person away from a group because his color, creed, or Religious origins is not a true blue, Bona Fide Conservative. Because freedom is not based upon any of those mitigating factors. If one believes that, they are not better than the Jim Crow racists in the south. One can dress it up and try and intellectualize racist and Anti-Semitic behavior, as it has been done, as of late; however in the end, it is still what it is, hatred.
It has been my observation, as an outsider of course, that the Tea Party Movement in general is not only suspicious of the Barack Obama Administration, but also suspicious of the people who were advocates of the Iraq War. There are some elements of the Tea Party which are, what one would call, American nationalist in nature. Some would call it Paleo or Traditional or Reagan Conservative in nature. Some, who are looking for such stuff would say that it is Anti-Semitic. However, I believe that it is EXTREMELY important to stress that this sort thing is NOT the whole or the sum of the Tea Party movement. I believe it is the personal responsibility of anyone who wishes to associate with any of these groups to find out what it is that really believe and stand for. It simply falls under personal responsibility. Most of these Tea Party groups are legit and on the level, the extremist ones are few and far between; and most of them do attract kooks and extremists. But you cannot judge an entire group, by the actions of a few. That is collectivism and it is a progressive and quite flawed mentality. When someone says or does something in one of these groups; the individual should be the one questioned, not the entire group.
Now someone, I just know, is going to come by there and read this and say, “Okay, what about this?” To that I reply, “What about it?” I do not express hatred of Muslims. I do not hate them at all. Nor do I think that all Muslims are terrorists. I just believe that building that Mosque anywhere near ground zero is just wrong. Admittedly, there are some so-called Conservative blogs, which do promote bigotry towards Muslims; they know who they are, I do not need to point them out; and yes, they do use a form of religious collectivism to paint all Muslims as terrorists. There are some Christians who do this; and I feel that it is wrong. My feeling about that is, judge the persons who do the acts of terrorism and the terrorists groups themselves —- not the entire Muslim Religion. Yes, I am aware of Islamo-Fascism. I also know that some people are caught up in what is called Islamo-phobia as well. Both of which are reactionary politics.
In closing, let me say this; common sense and mutual respect go much further in society in general, than a Nation that is driven by reactionary nonsense. Someone needs to tell both of the political parties this.

Interesting that you have no problem with a Mosque being INSIDE the Pentagon despite that building being a target on 9/11. Truth is… you’re a xenophob or a racist, perhaps both. Stop using 9/11 as an excuse for your hatred. It’s very clear in this country that republicans will invoke the memory of 9/11 to defend their racist beliefs but when it comes time HELP the people who came to OUR help on 9/11 the republicans turn their head. Last week Congress voted on aid to 9/11 responders and heros. 12 republicans voted yes. 12!! That is it! Nearly the ENTIRE democratic congress voted in favor of helping those who helped us on 9/11. You know what republicans did? They said F you you those heros and instead turned all their attention to a mosque being built blocks away.
Republicans and conservatives care about one thing only. Hatred. They do not care about bringing jobs to America, or keeping us safe, or defending out liberties. They care about hate.
