 Fox Business Reports: Futures, Global Shares Sink After Downgrade:

U.S. Stock futures followed global shares sharply lower on Monday morning, extending the worst weekly rout since 2008, on the heels of Standard & Poor’s downgrade of American debt. 

Today’s Markets

As of 7:45 a.m. ET, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures slid 250 points to 11,151, S&P 500 futures tumbled 29.8 points to 1,168 and Nasdaq 100 futures dipped 54.3 points to 2,134.

For the first time in history, S&P cut America’s top-notch credit rating one notch to AA-plus from AAA after the close of trading on Friday.  The ratings company also said it may slice the ratings another notch over the next two years.  

Global markets sold off on the news on Sunday and into Monday morning. Indeed, the Japanese Nikkei 225 tumbled 2.2%, while European markets fell by more than 1% in mid-day trading there. 

S&P’s move came as a result of concerns over the country’s substantial public debt burden and deep divides within Congress that almost sparked an unprecedented default on U.S. sovereign debt.  Moody’s Investor Service, another ratings company, affirmed American’s AAA rating, while Fitch is still performing a review. 

WSJ Reports: US Stock Futures Down After S&P Downgrade; Gold Higher, Oil Slides:

Wall Street was set for a sharply lower opening Monday after the unprecedented downgrade of U.S. debt by Standard & Poor’s, while gold futures soared nearly $60 as investors sought a safe haven.

Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 221 points to 11181. Futures on the Standard & Poor’s 500 index dropped 25 points to 1172.75 and those on the Nasdaq 100 sank 46.25 points to 2140.75.

After the close of Wall Street trading on Friday, Standard & Poor’s downgraded the U.S. government’s AAA debt rating to AA+, and assigned it a negative outlook. The agency said the U.S. political system had become less stable and the deficit-reduction deal reached by lawmakers last week was not extensive enough.

“The downgrade was expected,” said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Rockwell Global Capital. “As the first-ever [U.S. debt downgrade] announcement, it was taken as a shock, but I think it was pretty much priced into the marketplace.”

“Whether or not investors continue to choose to lower the risk, I think that’s yet to be seen and I think the real basis for this huge decline has a lot to do with hedge-fund selling, which feeds on itself,” said Cardillo.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 5.8% last week, its worst weekly performance since March 6, 2009, while the S&P 500 index fell 7.2% on the week, its worst since late 2008. The Nasdaq finished the week down 8%, its worst since late 2008 as well.

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stock futures tumbled Monday amid a rout in global stocks after Standard & Poor’s downgraded the U.S. credit rating for the first time.

S&P cut the long-term debt rating for the U.S. by one notch to AA+ from AAA late Friday. The move wasn’t unexpected, but it comes when investors are already feeling nervous about a weak U.S. economy, European debt problems and Japan’s recovery from its March earthquake.

Ahead of the opening bell, Dow Jones industrial futures fell 200 points, or 1.8 percent, to 11,202. S&P 500 futures fell 24, or 2.percent, to 1,173. Nasdaq 100 futures fell 44, or 2 percent, to 2,143.

In Europe, the German DAX index fell 2.3 percent. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 2.2 percent.

Prices for U.S. government debt, though, rose. That’s because Treasurys are still seen as one of the world’s few safe investments. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to 2.5 percent from 2.57 percent late Friday. It fell as low as 2.46 percent earlier Monday. A bond’s yield drops when its price rises.

Monday, August 8, 9:39 AM China’s Dagong rating agency takes a victory lap for its Aug. 2 downgrade of U.S. debt, and adds a new warning that S&P’s cut could upset already-volatile stock and bond markets – not just today. “This is a downward trend,” Dagong’s Guan Jianzhong says, and the U.S. could face a full-scale meltdown if its debt crisis can’t be solved.

Needless to say; we’re in a new Market era. We need new political leadership and quickly.

It isn’t everyday that I agree with Lew Rockwell… But this time, I do.

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan on Sunday ruled out the chance of a US default following S&P’s decision to downgrade America’s credit rating.

“The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that. So there is zero probability of default” said Greenspan on NBC’s Meet the Press

“What I think the S&P thing did was to hit a nerve that there’s something basically bad going on, and it’s hit the self-esteem of the United States, the psyche” said Greenspan.

Cry me a river: Muslim Woman Claims She Was The Victim Of A Hate Crime

Oh Boo freaking Hoo!

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – A 21-year-old Muslim woman, claiming that she was the victim of a hate crime as she drove along a street in Ann Arbor over the weekend.

WWJ’s Mike Campbell reports that Ann Arbor police will only say that they are looking into a case of an alleged hate crime. And, the FBI isn’t commenting on a report from the Council on American Islamic Relations that it has asked them to investigate this case.

Reportedly, a woman was driving in Ann Arbor when she saw a black Dodge Ram pickup pull up next to her and the driver started racially taunting her, saying that her people didn’t belong here, that she was a terrorist and her people need to be killed. She said she dialed 911 and when she looked back in her mirror, the guy was actually pointing a gun at her. That’s when she says she actually started to get scared. Otherwise, she said it happens all the time because she often is seen wearing her head scarf out in public.

Nobody was hurt in this incident. Police say they are looking into it; they ran the license plate on the car that she gave them and it doesn’t match that pickup.

Palestine continues its attacks against Israel

This is why I despise those lying bastards; they say they want peace, but continue to fire rockets into Israel.

Three mortar shells fell Sunday night in Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, causing damage to a fence. No injuries were reported.

The incident comes after a spate in rocket attacks launched from the Gaza Strip last week. On Friday, Israel Air Force jets attacked five targets in Gaza in response to the firing of Grad rockets.

Hours before the air strike a rocket fell in an open field near the town of Kiryat Gat. The rocket was the third of its kind in 24 hours, but it caused no injuries or damage.

IDF spokesman said last week that, “The IDF will operate with determination and respond with force against any terror organization attempting to disturb the way of life or harm the citizens of Israel. The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip.”

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in a cabinet meeting Sunday that the recent rocket fire from Gaza was carried out by Palestinian breakaway groups and an Islamic Jihad organization, adding that he views the recent escalation with great severity and believes the attacks will continue.

Israel needs to get real; those bastards do not want peace, they want to see the utter and total destruction of Israel. Israel needs to mount a World War II style bombing campaign of the Gaza Strip AND Palestine itself. Bomb those bastards until not one living soul is breathing and not one building is left standing. Bomb them till their bones are reduced to powder.

The reason why this sort of a thing happens between Israel and Palestine is because Israel’s Government does not have the will to fight. They fear the United Nations, who are horribly Anti-Semitic — that is so tragic, because Israel has a right to defend their land.

Memo to Jim Hoft: Find someone else to pick on!

I really hate having to write stuff like this, but I fear if I do not, this could start to become commonplace on the right.  As everyone who reads here knows — I have developed a zero tolerance policy against hate speech towards Israel and her people.  Well, if I am going to be that militant about the Israeli people and their land, I should be as militant about those who support her.

It appears that Jim Hoft, the owner of the Conservative Blog called “Gateway Pundit” is taken to mocking Christians on his blog.  This posting here is what I am referring.  My point is simply this:

Jim Hoft would not mock or deride Jews like this, He would not mock Roman Catholics like this, nor would he mock or deride Peaceful Muslims like this — so, why a group of Black Baptists who had a small group of people get out of hand?  Could it be because Jim Hoft has an inbred hatred of Christians — even Baptists —  or is it that he might possibly has an inbred hatred of blacks?  Those are important questions to ask, I feel and I would like to see his answer.

The reason why I am making a fuss about this is here; after the end of the Bush Administration and the end of the tenure of the Neo-Conservative majority and influence in the Republican Party there was this shift back to traditional Conservatism.  Which when it comes to foreign policy matters is a great thing.  However, it also seems that there is a rise in a sarcastic and in some instances a hostile attitude towards Christians in the Conservative and Libertarian Blogosphere.

There also has been a dramatic rise in hostility towards people of the Jewish Faith and linage on the right as well.  There has been, since September 11, 2001 there has been a great deal of hostility towards peaceful Muslims as well.  There is a line, between a genuine concern for our Country against Muslim extremists and a general hatred of Arabs and Muslims.  That line has blurred greatly in the last few years.  To be blunt about it: Norway was a wakeup call to everyone in the Anti-Jihad movement.  Hatred and Bigotry will not stop those in the Islamic Extremists movement; it will simply give them more ammunition against us. The Anti-Jihad movement needs to figure who the haters are, round them up, and publicly cast them out of the movement and shun them.

Further, let me also say this; I will be the very to admit that I have some serious issues with the social Conservative movement.  I know feel well about the stupidity within those ranks.  Furthermore, I also have a great disdain for the fascist mentality of those, who want to install a Christian version of Sharia law in this Country, toss out our Constitution, and dictate our laws directly from the Bible.  Those people, who are a small minority in the Conservative Christian circles, are as dangerous, as the radical Muslims and the radical progressives whom wish to destroy our Country.  Because I am a libertarian-minded Conservative, I will fight against those people on this blog, until my dying breath.  I believe in personal freedom and that means freedom from a Religion, if you so desire.

I find this idiotic mocking of those who happen to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God in Heaven and that the Holy Bible, or in my case; the King James Bible — is the Word of the Living God and contains the path to Eternal Life — to be highly offensive and very much repugnant.  Furthermore, I question the Conservative credentials of those who partake in this abject practice.

In closing let me say this; this blog was never intended to be a “Christian Blog”, nor was it ever intended to be a “Christian defense” blog.  However, when one’s religion is being mocked, oppressed and attacked, one most decide, “Do I stand, or do I remain silent?”  I choose to speak out.

More ways we can grow our way out of our debt crisis

Ed Morrissey is a very levelheaded Conservative, which is why I link to him and AllahPundit quite a bit.

However on this offering here of how we can grow the ourselves out of this debt crisis; quite frankly, does not go far enough. I will not quote it, so head on over and see what he says. Basically Ed is too busy blaming the other side and repeating the often repeated mantra of “Drill Baby Drill!” Which lost it’s luster six months ago. To be fair, Ed’s suggestions were great, and I happen to agree with them.

But there is much more we can do.

Here is some more ways we can get ourselves out of this Debt Crises:

  1. End ALL of the trade agreements! – Whether we want to admit it or not; Globalism has killed the American economy. It is time to stop allowing other Countries to screw us, all the while taking our goods for next to nothing.
  2. Impose strict tariffs on those who import goods into this Country. – Whether we want to admit it or not; Foreign goods are killing our market share in the World and is putting Americans out of work. It’s time to end the gravy train. Impose Reagan-era tariffs, adjusted for inflation and modern day costs and strictly enforce them!
  3. Impose Strict Taxes on Companies in the United States that build products overseas. – This is long, long, long, overdue.
  4. Offer Special Tax Breaks to companies that build products in the United States – Another one long overdue. This would create jobs here in America and put many people back to work.
  5. Close ALL Tax Loopholes for Business and individuals – Everyone should pay their fair share.
  6. End ALL foreign aid – America needs to stop being the welfare desk for the rest of the World.
  7. Scrap the Progressive Tax code and create a Tax system that is fair for all. – and not just the low earners.
  8. Pass laws that end pork barrel projects and earmarks – This should have ended LONG AGO!
  9. End Healthcare for the President and ALL members of House and Senate – Most of them are wallowing in money, they simply do not need it.
  10. Reduce or eliminate the salaries of the President and ALL members of both houses of Congress – Again, most of them are wallowing in money and being a Congressman and President is a SERVICE to our Country — why should they be paid, if they really do not need it?
  11. Outlaw ANY and ALL monies or gifts or anything else from LOBBYING groups – This should have happened years ago.
  12. Pass a law outlawing ANY lobbying groups within 500 miles of the Nation’s Capital and do not allow any lobbing groups on Capital Hill at all, all communications must be via U.S. Mail, E-mail or Phone. — Long overdue
  13. Put tape recorders and/or Video Cameras back in the White House and in ALL offices of ALL members of Congress and wire all the offices for Sound, make Recordings public – Long overdue. This will stop corruption cold. Signs will be put up.
  14. Any President, Vice-President or member of Congress who resigns or is impeached, loses his right to his Salary and Health Benefits. – Long overdue

Indeed I am sure, that my readers could think of a few more.

Memo to Mercede Johnston: You’re an asshole!

You know, I can handle criticism of Sarah Palin. I was not a fan of hers and still am not. I also can handle the criticism of Bristol Palin, as she did do things that I felt were worthy of criticism. However, this here….is a bit much:

Mercede also tells Playboy that Track Palin, Sarah’s 22-year-old son who is an Army reservist, used drugs. She claims, “He did OxyContin and mostly cocaine. He didn’t choose to go into the Army; he went there because his mom made him, to get him out of the way so when she was at the convention they wouldn’t know he does drugs and would think he was a patriot.” A Palin family rep declined to comment.

Which proves what I have believed all along. Levi Johnson and his family were nothing more than pawns for the left. The left knows no bounds either; Military? Hey, no problem. These are the same people that caused our defeat in Vietnam and cheered it all the way. These are the same people who basically tried to get the United States out of Iraq, before the job was done.

This is not to say that the Johnston family were always pawns. However, when the liberal media, offered money to that drug addled bunch, they took it and spared no time making up lies and basically telling liberals what they wanted to hear.

It’s a sad thing too. A young man’s reputation is ruined, because of some psycho’s lies. Hopefully the Palin family lawyers up and sues the woman.

BREAKING NEWS: The United States of America loses its AAA Credit Rating

S&P cut the long-term U.S. credit rating by one notch to AA-plus on concerns about the government’s budget deficits and rising debt burden. The move is likely to raise borrowing costs eventually for the American government, companies and consumers.

“The downgrade reflects our opinion that the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the Administration recently agreed to falls short of what, in our view, would be necessary to stabilize the government’s medium-term debt dynamics,” S&P said in a statement.

The decision follows a bitter political battle in Congress over cutting spending and raising taxes to reduce the government’s debt burden and allow its statutory borrowing limit to be raised.

We lowered our long-term rating on the U.S. because we believe that the prolonged controversy over raising the statutory debt ceiling and the related fiscal policy debate indicate that further near-term progress containing the growth in public spending, especially on entitlements, or on reaching an agreement on raising revenues is less likely than we previously assumed and will remain a contentious and fitful process. We also believe that the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the Administration agreed to this week falls short of the amount that we believe is necessary to stabilize the general government debt burden by the middle of the decade…

The political brinksmanship of recent months highlights what we see as America’s governance and policymaking becoming less stable, less effective, and less predictable than what we previously believed. The statutory debt ceiling and the threat of default have become political bargaining chips in the debate over fiscal policy. Despite this year’s wide-ranging debate, in our view, the differences between political parties have proven to be extraordinarily difficult to bridge, and, as we see it, the resulting agreement fell well short of the comprehensive fiscal consolidation program that some proponents had envisaged until quite recently. Republicans and Democrats have only been able to agree to relatively modest savings on discretionary spending while delegating to the Select Committee decisions on more comprehensive measures. It appears that for now, new revenues have dropped down on the menu of policy options. In addition, the plan envisions only minor policy changes on Medicare and little change in other entitlements, the containment of which we and most other independent observers regard as key to long-term fiscal sustainability…

When comparing the U.S. to sovereigns with ‘AAA’ long-term ratings that we view as relevant peers–Canada, France, Germany, and the U.K.–we also observe, based on our base case scenarios for each, that the trajectory of the U.S.’s net public debt is diverging from the others. Including the U.S., we estimate that these five sovereigns will have net general government debt to GDP ratios this year ranging from 34% (Canada) to 80% (the U.K.), with the U.S. debt burden at 74%. By 2015, we project that their net public debt to GDP ratios will range between 30% (lowest, Canada) and 83% (highest, France), with the U.S. debt burden at 79%. However, in contrast with the U.S., we project that the net public debt burdens of these other sovereigns will begin to decline, either before or by 2015.

WEST ALLIS – Witnesses tell Newsradio 620 WTMJ and TODAY’S TMJ4 of a mob of young people attacking innocent fair-goers at the end of the opening night of State Fair, with some callers claiming a racially-charged scene.

Milwaukee Police confirmed there were assaults outside the fair.

Witnesses’ accounts claim everything from dozens to hundreds of young black people beating white people as they left State Fair Thursday night.

Authorities have not given official estimates of the number of people involved in the attacks.

“It looked like they were just going after white guys, white people,” said Norb Roffers of Wind Lake in an interview with Newsradio 620 WTMJ.  He left the State Fair Entrance near the corner of South 84th Street and West Schlinger Avenue in West Allis.

“They were attacking everybody for no reason whatsoever.”

“It was 100% racial,” claimed Eric, an Iraq war veteran from St. Francis who says young people beat on his car. 

“I had a black couple on my right side, and these black kids were running in between all the cars, and they were pounding on my doors and trying to open up doors on my car, and they didn’t do one thing to this black couple that was in this car next to us.  They just kept walking right past their car.  They were looking in everybody’s windshield as they were running by, seeing who was white and who was black.  Guarantee it.”

Eric, a war veteran, said that the scene he saw Thursday outside State Fair compares to what he saw in combat.

“That rated right up there with it.  When I saw the amount of kids coming down the road, all I kept thinking was, ‘There’s not enough cops to handle this.’  There’s no way.  It would have taken the National Guard to control the number of kids that were coming off the road.  They were knocking people off their motorcycles.”

I believe this would be a good opportunity to inform people that it is a good idea to arm themselves, within the law in your State of course; just the same, if someone had been armed — this likely would not have happened. I am, quite frankly, shocked that not more bloggers are not writing about this incident.  I guess fear and political correctness trump the truth anymore.

I believe this is only the beginning; as our economy begins to sour. Events like this will continue to happen. Arm yourselves; before it is too late.

The Story:

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) – Officers bust into a home in Sterling Heights, armed with a search warrant. The only problem? The guy they were looking for doesn’t live there. Fox 2 talked to the man who opened the door, and was stunned by what happened next.

Ramsey Tossa is a lot of things. He’s a U.S. citizen, a retired military translator and a proud father. But a criminal, he’s not. Still, he says he was treated like one Tuesday morning around 2am when he woke up to find DEA agents banging loudly on the door.

“As soon as I opened the door, somebody grabbed me and took me outside and put me on the grass,” Tossa said. “The first thing I thought was they were terrorists who want to kill me because I served in Iraq.”

Sad Story isn’t it? Well, there is a catch and believe this could have happened to anyone; not just this man. Here’s the part that will not get quoted on many blogs:

The DEA agents were executing a search warrant. Tossa said he started having what he thought was a heart attack. Paramedics took him to the hospital. When it was finally over, the agents took a few pieces of mail addressed to someone the Tossa’s say they’ve never met. The DEA says the person they were looking for is actually the landlord’s son. He uses that house as his address. The Tossa’s are demanding answers. The DEA tells us they are taking the complaint seriously. They deny anyone was thrown to the ground. They also indicate there was likely cause to search the house.

There is a logical explanation here and I know it is not going to win brownie points with those on the right. What most likely happened here was this; they did not have a photo of the suspect and they assumed, because the suspect was getting his mail there, that he actually lived there. It was a simple mistake and a sad one; that will now end up costing the Government a good deal of money, because if I know the drill, like I do — this man will lawyer up and sue the Government and get a huge settlement out of them.

Again, while I think this a horrible thing to happen to member of the United States Military; it is something that could have happened to almost anyone, who was living in this sort of a situation. My question to Fox 2 Detroit is this; if this man were not Military, would you have honestly cared? What was as Fox 2 Detroit’s motive of getting this news story? Was it to report the facts — or was it to further push the narrative of News Corporation that the United States Government, under President Barack Obama, is the enemy of the people?

The problem I personally have is that these stories, like this one here, are sometimes used to fuel paranoia, which in turn causes people to do things like which Richard Poplawski did to those three police officers. I ranted and raved about that little incident and the way it was covered in the news as well and it did turn out that my suspicion was right on target. My point here is this while I know that Richard Poplawski’s mental status had much to do with that shooting; it was his great paranoia of the Government that caused that incident to happen, which was largely fueled by the media and by what he was reading in White Nationalist forums.

My point is this: I believe Fox News should take greater care in how these stories are presented. What happened here was a simply mistake and it is being presented by this local Fox affiliate as conspiracy against mankind.

I’m running on about three hours of sleep; so, if I sound a bit cranky, that is why.

Finally, these morons have gotten their proverbial shit together and got some sort of a deal together….FINALLY:

Here, according to Democratic and Republican sources, are the key elements:

A debt ceiling increase of up to $2.1 to $2.4 trillion (depending on the size of the spending cuts agreed to in the final deal).

They have now agreed to spending cuts of roughly $1.2 trillion over 10 years.

The formation of a special Congressional committee to recommend further deficit reduction of up to $1.6 trillion (whatever it takes to add up to the total of the debt ceiling increase). This deficit reduction could take the form of spending cuts, tax increases or both.

The special committee must make recommendations by late November (before Congress’ Thanksgiving recess).

If Congress does not approve those cuts by December 23, automatic across-the-board cuts go into effect, including cuts to Defense and Medicare. This “trigger” is designed to force action on the deficit reduction committee’s recommendations by making the alternative painful to both Democrats and Republicans.

A vote, in both the House and Senate, on a balanced budget amendment.

Man, the sickness of these bastards never ceases to amaze me. (H/T and thanks to Pamela Geller) and yet, the American Media wants to slime people like me and Pamela for assuming Norway was done by Islamist Jihads.

Either way, this is sick!

A number of anti-Israel organizations have blamed the Jewish state and its supporters for the recent terrorist attack in Norway. The groups suggest that some pro-Israel and anti-Muslim sentiments expressed by Anders Breivik prove that Israel carried out or benefited from the attack, or that all pro-Israel supporters are dangerous.

An article on a Hamas website entitled “The Cancer of Christian Zionist Terror,” makes the case. “Christian Zionism is the new Nazi beast, a kind of a Fourth Reich, looming on the horizon. It is evil, murderous and genocidal,” said anti-Semitic writer Khalid Amayreh. “Just imagine the fact that we are talking about a combination of evil forces at work, including the nefarious powerful freemason cult, which penetrates many societies and governments, the Zionist movement, and neo-fascist Islamophobes seeking to ignite an internecine clash between Islam and the West.”

“Today, it is Oslo; tomorrow it may be London, Paris, Berlin and Rome,” he added.

Similar sentiments were expressed on the website of UFREE, the European network to support the rights of Palestinian prisoners. The group’s statement on the Norway attack linked the summer camp massacre to pro-Palestinian advocacy, and maligned the terrorist for his pro-Israel views. “It has become known to the world that supporters of Israel are the real threat to world security and peace – they are the real source of terrorism,” said the Oslo-based chair of UFree, Mohammed Hamdan.

Liberal Turkish newspaper Taraf published a report stating that the attacks could have been organized by Israel’s intelligence agency, the Mossad. “It is highly possible that the attacks are the handiwork of Mossad,” reported the Kavkaz Center, a news site for Islamist separatists in Russia. “Norway repeatedly stated at an official level that it would become the first European country to recognize the independence of Palestine.”

Sick bastards. They know no bounds. Between them and their Anti-War undercover liberals faux libertarians and Paleo-Conservatives and the actual far socialist left in this Country; it is really a wonder that Israel has continued to exist.  America had better pray that buffoons like Ron Paul never see the inside of the White House; or it will spell the end of Israel as a Nation. Any man that would sit idly by and watch Israel be destroyed; should never, ever be in the White House.   As I wrote before, count me in as a foot solider in that battle to keep that demented fool out of the White House.

Between this and the constant smearing of Jewish people in the media; I will tell you folks, we are headed straight for Nazi-style fascism in this Country. Except for one thing, these are not Nazi’s; they are nothing more than Americanized Communists. The Nazi Party was not the only fascist Government! The Communists were just as evil and just as fascist.  Just ask any Russian defector and they will tell you that.

Open Message to the Republican Party/Tea Party/Conservatives: This is not a good way to keep me in your ranks!

This is one of those blog postings that I really do not like have to write.  However, because I am a non-partisan blogger and someone who just comes down on the side of common sense — I feel that this needs to be said.

Folks, I am going to set it straight to you.  There are parts of the Republican Party that I simply disagree with, because what some of these people think is just damned wrong.

Last night, I had an altercation with some idiot on twitter.  Who is obviously someone who is not in the majority of the GOP.  I happen to see this come by my twitter stream last night:

Now my friends, this, I am afraid is not an excusable offense.  Now, I do realize that not everyone in the GOP/Tea Party/Conservatism feels this way.  However, this is not the first time I have seen this said among Conservatives.  Let me be clear about this; if this continues to be a prevailing thought within the Tea Party/Conservative movement/Republican Party — you will see me switch sides and vote for whomever is the primary challenger for Barack Obama.  I am terribly sorry folks; but this one hits very hard and much at home with me.  I did not come from a family of privilege; I came from middle class family.  My father is a retired General Motors worker; he made like 60,000 a year and gave 31 years of his life to that company, who did treat him very well.  My parents played by the rules, were very responsible with their money, and paid into the social security fund for all their working lives.  If anyone deserves to get social security — it is my Mother and Father.

Then, there is my aunt Martha; bless her heart — born into this world with something she had no control over — mental retardation.  She collects social security – gets it from her late father, who worked himself into an early grave, at General Motors, so that she would be taken care of.  She cannot even care for herself and my family cannot afford to pay her doctor bills and support her entirely themselves.  I ask you, as fellow Americans — is it fair to make people like my parents and my aunt to suffer?  Is that the ultimate goal of the Republican Party/Tea Party/Conservative movement — to shove people like my parents and my aunt into the street and say, “Fend for yourself?”  Really?  Is it?

Because if it is, please let me know now — because, frankly; if it is, I really do not want to be associated with those who are that damned cruel of people.

Believe me when I tell you; I understand that entitlements need to be reformed.  I understand that spending is a problem.  However, to punish those who worked all their lives for a little bit of support in their golden years and those born with conditions that were beyond their control, I am sorry to say is just downright asinine.  Frankly, if that is the ultimate goal of the parties listed, I do not want to be part of that anymore.  I am not a Barack Obama fan, never was; but I cannot be a part of a bunch of people who are just downright heartless.  I know I will never, most likely anyhow — get any social security — however, I just do not like the idea of punishing those who are entitled to it now.  That, my friends, is just more than I can bear to handle.

Again, I realize that this was one person’s opinion.  However, I fear the worst and that is just something that I cannot agree with — sorry if anyone is disappointed – but my family comes first and politics second.  When the people that I happen agree with want to hurt my family; something is terribly wrong, I will defend them, and people like them, to my dying breath.  Frugalness is one thing, cruelty is another and I will never side with that, ever.

The Debt Ceiling Debate – Pure Kabuki Theater

I know, I have note written about; except in a short passing post.  But, I am an skeptic.

In fact, my venturing into blogging was born out of skepticism. I was skeptical and critical of Bush’s handling of Iraq, I was and am still very highly skeptical of President Obama’s handling of, well, almost everything. In short; this darned thing has me quite uninterested.

Me? I just do not care. Why? Well, for starters; this is nothing more than a stupid game of political chicken. What is happening is this; the Republicans in the house are trying to stare down the Democrats in the Senate and are waiting to see who blinks first. The problem is, the stock markets around the world are now beginning to freak, as are the Chinese.

What ticks me off is, you know who suffers? people; like my parents, who are invested a little. Also bigger investors. It’s sickening; and Republicans as well as Democrats share the blame on this.

So, sorry, if I just am not overly excited about this whole thing. These bastards in DC created this mess; and instead of working together to fix it. They are more interested in political grandstanding and Kabuki theater.

 

Breaking: David Wu to resign…..after Debt Ceiling vote

Scandal-plagued Rep. David Wu, D-Ore., announced Tuesday he is resigning in the wake of a report that he had an unwanted sexual encounter with a teenage girl.

“It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be a United States Congressman. Rare is the nation in which an immigrant child can become a national political figure. I thank God and my parents for the privilege of being an American,” Wu said in a statement.

“Now, however, the time has come to hand on the privilege of high office. I cannot care for my family the way I wish while serving in Congress and fighting these very serious allegations.

But Wu added he will remain in office through the ongoing debt limit negotiations.

“The wellbeing of my children must come before anything else. With great sadness, I therefore intend to resign effective upon the resolution of the debt-ceiling crisis,” said Wu. “This is the right decision for my family, the institution of the House, and my colleagues. It is also the only correct decision to avoid any distraction from the important work at hand in Washington.

Wu’s announcement comes after he spent the weekend insisting he would not step down but conceding he wouldn’t run for reelection in 2012. However, Democratic leaders had stepped up pressure on the congressman to resign, hoping to avoid another embarrassing sex scandal.

The Portland Oregonian notes that Wu’s resignation announcement came shortly after the state’s two Democratic senators, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, released a joint statement calling on Wu to step down.

“This is a critical time for our state and our nation and Oregonians need every member of their Congressional delegation to be effective,” the two said. “While no one takes pleasure in asking a colleague to resign, we believe he can no longer be an effective representative for our shared constituents and should, in the best interest of Oregon, step down.”

Wu, first elected in 1998, was the first Chinese-American to serve in the House.

Why bother?  A debt-ceiling vote in the House is not likely to be a close-run affair regardless of which version gets a floor vote.  There is an outside chance that a single vote could carry the day, but it’s exceedingly small.  By the same reasoning, Wu could argue that bailing out on his district will prevent those voters from having representation on another several months of critical votes, some of which may be close than the vote will be on this issue.

This is apparently the outcome most desired by House Democratic leadership, but it’s hard to understand why.  Wu’s district (OR-01) is a safe Democratic hold in regular elections, with a D+8 advantage in the Cook index.  It’s not even clear that Wu would have lost a re-election bid in 2012, but even a non-incumbent Democrat should have held that seat with Barack Obama at the top of the ticket.  Now Oregon will have to call a special election to fill out the remainder of Wu’s term, and a Republican could take advantage of the oddities of special-election turnouts to grab the seat.  It’s not likely to happen, but the odds are better than in the next election.

So why is the angle being played up? Two reasons: First, the liberal media wants to make an equivalency between the actions of Breivik and the Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh and al Qaeda. The left wants you to believe that fundamentalists Christians are a threat just like crazy jihadists are.

In fact, in the “New York Times” today an analysis piece says that some believe we have overreacted to the Muslim threat in the world. Of course, that’s absurd. Jihadists have killed tens of thousands of people all over the world. The Taliban, Iran and elements in Pakistan use governmental power to support terrorism by Muslims. But the left-wing press wants to compare nuts like Breivik and McVeigh to state-sponsored terrorism and worldwide jihad.

Again, dishonest and insane.

The second reason the liberal media is pushing the Christian angle is they don’t like Christians very much because we are too judgmental. Many Christians oppose abortion. Gay marriage and legalized narcotics, secular left causes. The media understands the opposition is often based on religion. So they want to diminish Christianity and highlighting so-called Christian-based terror is a way to do that.

President Obama met with House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Harry Reid at the White House last week.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement that Reid’s proposal was a “reasonable approach that should receive the support of both parties.”

Obama, meanwhile, will address the nation at 9 p.m. EDT Monday about “avoiding default and the best approach to cutting deficits.”

Reid’s plan, unveiled Monday, does not include any new tax revenue, as President Obama has demanded. But unlike the GOP plan, it would extend the debt ceiling into 2013—an Obama ultimatum.

House Speaker John Boehner quickly dismissed the Reid plan as full of “gimmicks.” Boehner said the plan failed to make any real changes in the government’s spending and does not address the Medicare and Medicaid health programs for the elderly and poor or other benefit programs.

Republicans also are concerned that the cuts it contains would prove illusory, particularly $1 trillion or so in savings claimed by troop cuts in Iraq and Afghanistan over the coming decade. Reid countered that House Republicans claimed the same savings windfall when they passed their budget earlier this year.

Boehner forged ahead with his own plan to raise the current $14.3 trillion debt ceiling by about $1 trillion, along with commensurate spending cuts. That would require lawmakers to go through the painful process again next spring with an even larger debt and deficit package.

The second debt limit increase, which would continue borrowing authority through 2012, would be linked to a tax code overhaul and spending cuts for Medicare and Medicaid health programs for the elderly and poor as well as other benefit programs.

First off, let me apologize for the silence for the last 24 hours. I have had some family issues to attend to; and I was unable to blog. I was on twitter and those who follow me there, know what has been going on.

The problem here is this; this is a problem that the Democrats, while they were in control of both houses —- kicked down the road, so to speak. The Democrats simply did not want to have to deal with this issue; so, they “Kicked the can down the road,” so to speak — and let the next congress deal with this. So, now they are and now that Nancy Pelosi is basically been rendered irrelevant; the Republicans are the ones controlling this issue.

The real kicker is how President Obama, just shows a lack of real leadership. I mean, The Democrats are now out of power; and the Republicans want to actually work with the President — and instead of actually trying to work with them, President Obama wants to move the goal posts in the game. Sort of reminds me of another President that did such things, during the Iraq War in 2006; but I digress.

If the Democrats had handled this issue, when they were in the majority; we would not even be here. But, they kicked it down the road and now the Republicans are now handling it. The problem is, the outcome of this, is not going to please anyone, on either side of the aisle. There are things that are going to be cut; that no one is going to like. This is what happens, when a party abdicates its responsibilities. Democrats should learn from this experience here; and not do such things again. However, it seems as of late, that the Democrats have very short memories and simply will not learn from their earlier mistakes. Which is why they seem to lose a good number of elections these days.

Of course, I will not hold my breath for an apology from the Leftist media or blogosphere in this Country. I might turn blue and die first.

As I wrote on this blog before:

I will simply say this; terrorism is terrorism — I don’t care in what name, or cause. It is wrong; and those who do it should be imprisoned or killed.

I will add this as well; it is very clear to me that Anders Behring Breivik had lost hope in his Nation’s ballot box and instead of trying to change the current system of Government by means of voting, he choose violence instead.

I also will add this; the imagery of the Christian Crusaders makes me wince as well. I am, as you all know; a Baptist. I happen to know that most of those so-called “Christian Crusades” were actually carried out by the Roman Catholic Church against my Baptist forefathers, who refused to submit to the Roman Catholic Church. So, all that imagery sort of makes me want to wretch honestly.

The truth is, I agree with this man’s premise; yes, radical Islam is an issue. However, I very highly disagree with his notion that violence is the way to handle that issue. Further more, I agree with his premise that culture Marxism is a problem as well. But I wholeheartedly reject the notion that violence is the answer. Believe me, I am not the only one. Even some of the more radical traditionalists reject his notion of violence as well.  In fact, one radical traditionalist says this:

Before writing anything else, let me state clearly and without any reservations that I am shocked and saddened by the events unfolding in Norway. Regardless of the eventual justification that those involved proffer for these actions; whether they be the actions of a single person or of an organized group. The killing of innocent civilians is always and everywhere a despicable means of achieving ends. I can think of no instance where it was justified. Unfortunately, numerous instances of massive, civilian killing—on a scale that makes recent Norwegian events pale in significance—have been and will for the foreseeable future be accepted—even celebrated by some—as justifiable acts of forces of good. Witness Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Berlin. But for the victims and their family and friends, such abstractions are of no consequence to their real, immediate, and life-changing pain and loss. I offer them my heartfelt sympathy, while at the same time I am overcome by a genuine feeling of anger and the hope that those responsible are found and appropriately dealt with.

Amen.

Remember when I gave John Hawkings a piece of my mind?

Well, it appears that someone else was feeling about the same damned way. Good on ya Zilla!

I said in her comments section; and I will say it here too:

Anyone that worries about what John Hawkings thinks is crazy.

Hawkings takes his cues from the podhoretz and kristol crowds. You know, the one’s who lied us into the Iraq war?

He needs to be ignored and shipped a crate of Jenny Craig.

…..and no, that is not Anti-Semitic; that is fact.
