OH NOES! TOTUS Stolen!

From the Dept. of “You just cannot write comedy scripts this funny….”

The Video:

The Story via NBC12.com:

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – NBC12 has uncovered one of those stories that makes you think: “How in the world does that happen?!” A truck filled with President Obama’s podiums and audio equipment was stolen in Henrico just days before his visit to Chesterfield.

We confirmed an investigation with the U.S. Defense Department. There are still a lot of questions. The biggest one being did the thieves intentionally target the President’s truck or did they take advantage of a crime of opportunity and give a big “uh-oh” when they saw what was inside.

When you see President Obama speak, there is a pretty typical setup including the presidential seal on a podium, the see-thru Teleprompter and a portable sound system.

Thieves saw the truck carrying that equipment and couldn’t resist the target.

We’re told the truck was parked at the Virginia Center Commons Courtyard Marriott in advance on Wednesday’s presidential visit to Chesterfield.

Sources said inside that vehicle was about $200,000 worth of sound equipment, several podiums and presidential seals, behind which only the President himself can stand.

They told NBC12 around 12:30 Monday afternoon that truck was recovered in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express near the airport and hotel staff confirm police activity. One guest we spoke with said he saw various law enforcement agencies examining a white box truck parked there.

According to him, the entire back parking lot was blocked off as Henrico Police along with “lots of guys in suits” investigated. He said the truck had no markings and no indication anything special was inside. That leads to another big question of whether or not any of that was actually stolen.

Late Monday evening we found a truck with US government tags still parked in the Marriott’s lot. We are waiting to find out if that is the original truck returned to the staff or a second vehicle.

If I were the Defense Department or the Secret Service, I would be watching E-Bay. Although, I highly doubt they took anything. Most likely, these thieves stole the truck, and got it somewhere, busted the lock and opened the back; and most likely when they saw what was in it —- in unison, screamed “OH CRAP!” and quickly brought the truck back!

Ed Morrissey brings a more serious thought to the table:

Update: On a more serious note, commenter NeoKong points out just how bad this security breach could have been:

The story is funny and everything until you realize what a breach of security this really was.

Once somebody gained unsupervised access to that bus and it’s contents they could have done anything they want. What if somebody planted a device or some sort of miniaturized explosive….? What if somebody planted electronic tracking devices or audio or video devices….? They would know where the POTUS would be going days in advance. Can anyone imagine the sort of conversations they could listen in on if somebody planted as bug or the details of security they could see if there was surveillance equipment…?

This is a BFD. Getting to that podium is almost as good as getting up close to the POTUS.

As for the explosive: Must….resist….saying….what…I’m….thinking….I….serve…the…Lord. 😯

But seriously, Ed’s commenter makes a good point; sounds like someone didn’t think things through much at all. Doug Powers, who is Michelle Malkin’s new flunky, writes a very funny piece on this story. 😀

WordPress and Drupal founders share stage, no fistfights reported

This rather funny report comes via WordPress Tavern:

Here is something you don’t get to see all the time. WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg and Drupal founder Dries Buytaert shared the same stage at an event called Schipulcon. While catering to the web marketing crowd, the event also has a short but concise mission statement:

To grow community champions that make the world a better place through extraordinary thinking, smart technology and cross-industry creativity.

Schipulcon took place in Houston, Texas which is the hometown of Matt Mullenweg. While some expected the two founders to duke it out, according to some in the audience, it looked more like a bromance.

Indeedy — Ain’t they cute together? 😉

Heck, I figured there would be at least one little fistfight. I mean, we are talking about the Bill Gates and Steve Jobs of CMS here.

BREAKING NEWS: Steve Jobs has died

Video via ABC News:

The Story:

Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple‘s iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died, Apple said. Jobs was 56.

Jobs died “peacefully” surrounded by family members, his family said in a statement.

Neither Jobs’ family nor Apple revealed where Jobs died or from what cause, though in recent years he had fought a form of pancreatic cancer and had a liver transplant.

“We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today,” read a statement by Apple’s board of directors. “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.”

The homepage of Apple’s website switched to a full-page image of Jobs with the text, “Steve Jobs 1955-2011.”

Clicking on the image revealed additional text, credited in a separate memo to Apple employees to current Apple CEO Tim Cook.

“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being,” the text read. “Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

I own an iPod touch, I even blog from it. I love it and I thank Mr. Jobs for his contribution. May he rest in peace.

…and seeing that I am supposed to be a sarcastic Conservative blogger; I shall say this….. Maybe NOW they’ll finally put adobe FLASH in these silly things! 😉

Update: A nice video from Wired:

Hell, to tie this in to politics; if he had not has Steve Jobs or apple, we’d never have this video here:

It was made on an apple computer!

Stupid NYT article of the week

Would you like to see a perfect example of the disconnect between reality and the democrats?

Then, go, please and read here.

I have been at this blogging since 2006 and this is one of the more “interesting” ones I have read yet. See if you can spot the lies and spin and comment about them here.

How bad of a punchline has this Presidential Administration become?

This bad: (H/T AllahPundit)

It’s like I told James Carville, it’s a little late for panic. It is time to find someone else!

Video: Joseph Farah a radical communist?!?!?!

Yesterday, I was browsing around over at WorldNetDaily and I happen to come upon a video made by Victoria Jackson. It is of her interviewing WorldNetDaily Founder Joseph Farah.

I found the video itself to be very amusing and interesting at the same time. Although the camera whipping around back and forth did make me feel like I was going to sailing out of my chair and did make me feel like I wanted to puke a few times.

Either way, it is an awesome interview and it looks like me and Joe Farah have a bunch in common. 😀

The Video:

…and by the way, if you are wondering about this here; Yes, I still stand by that statement. Which is why I rarely ever quote or link to anything WorldNetDaily publishes. Unless I don’t see it anywhere else. I published the video, because I thought it to be interesting.

UPDATED — Video: Attaaaaaaaaaaaack Waaaaaaaaaaaaaatch!

Seriously. They have a website and a twitter account.

This, of course, has become of the joke of twitter, at the moment…

Here’s hoping someone reports me to the magic negro the President.

Video: Bitch Fight!

The Story via NBC New York:

A Long Island mom has been arrested and charged with allegedly encouraging two 12-year-old girls to duke it out during a dispute outside an elementary school — and then participating in the fight herself.

Daphne Melin of Shirley has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and attempted assault.

Mary Jones, 11, goes to school with the two girls.

She said she saw “hair tugging and ripping and pushing and then the mom just started beating up the girl.”

Police said the fight on Sunday lasted several minutes.

Melin “spit in the girl’s face and then grabbed her by the hair and kneed her in the head several times,” Suffolk police said.

Melin said her daughter was the victim of cyber-bullying and that she was getting no help from the school, so she took the matter into her own hands.

I’m sure she’ll get plenty of help now. 🙄

Wait! Daphne?!?!

Cue the Music:

So, that’s what happened to her after the series ended…. 😀

Kos over at Daily Kos goes all Charles Johnson on his Blog

The LGF’ing of Daily Kos!?!?!

Alternative title: “Introducing the Great Purge of 2011”.

So as everyone has long gathered, I have deep patience for dickishness. I don’t mind a bit of rough and tumble. Politics is a contact sport, and passion and commitment to one’s causes and positions can lead to bruising debate. And let’s be honest, if we decided to ban all dicks, half the site — me included — would be gone. Heck, look at the national scene — the dicks are winning all the big battles (including 2010).

So being a dick is sometimes okay, within reason, which is why I’ve never concerned myself with it. But of course, the year-long Obama-rox/Obama-sux flamewar has now dragged me into community moderation, and my patience has run dry. I’m now itching the ban the fuck out of the biggest dicks on the site.

I’m already at about a dozen, with ratings pulled from several more. I’m not done. If you accuse someone of being racist just because they criticize Obama? Zap! If you actually say something that is even borderline racist? Zap! If you advocate for third party? Zap! This is a Democratic site. Advocating primaries is okay. Advocating third party is not. If I see ratings pack behavior or messed up uprates or hides, I won’t zap, but I’ll pull ratings abilities. Hell, depending on my mood at that moment, I may zap anyway. My dev team is putting together cool reports that identify patterns, so my job will get easier, and I won’t be shy in exercising them.

I can’t begin to care who started what. And in fact, if two sides are engaged in battle, I’ll act the same way I parent — both sides will get punished. So those are some guidelines, but they are not all inclusive. A lot of my actions will be arbitrary, inconsistent, and sometimes might even seem capricious. I don’t care. Some of you want a big set of rules printed and bound, so everyone is clear on the boundaries. Not me. I’ll define “bannable dickishness” the way you define pornography or irony — you know it when you see it.

You dragged me into this thing kicking and screaming, you get me at my very worst.

via Daily Kos: On my new moderation duties.

Dang! I thought I was grumpy!

Heh.

Seeing that last post was a bit negative. I needed something to push back to the normal funny that’s found around here.

So, I thought I’d link to this.

A thought: Who the heck eats in a restaurant with their laptop, next to their food?!?! 😯  Ugh.

Most be a regional thing or a geeky thing. Because when I’m munching, you know; like this? I tend to put my laptop away, as not to get food on it and in it. 🙄

Either way, I thought the pictures were great and I thought I’d link to them.

Quotable Quote:

BTW Stacy’s shot is at my usual table at the restaurant but for two blogging we needed a bigger table.

…and him being a big guy had zero to do with it, right?(…and believe you me, I speak’a from’a experience here!)

There is a river called “da Nile. 😉

At least RSM and ‘Da old guy took their hats off! 😛
