Sarah Palin Quote of the Day
Now this is quite interesting to see:

It’s not Palin’s positions people respond to — it’s her use of symbols. Mama grizzlies rearing up to protect their young? That’s straight out of Jung’s “collective unconscious” — the term Jung used to describe the part of the unconscious mind that, unlike the personal unconscious, is shared by all human beings, made up of archetypes, or, in Jung’s words, “universal images that have existed since the remotest times.” Unlike personal experiences, these archetypes are inherited, not acquired. They are “inborn forms… of perception and apprehension,” the “deposits of the constantly repeated experiences of humanity.”
This is the realm Palin is working in — I’m sure unintentionally — and it’s why she has connected so deeply with a large segment of the public. In fact, her evocation of mama grizzlies has a particularly resonant history in the collective unconscious. According to the Jungian Archive for Research in Archetypal Symbolism, “The bear has long fascinated mankind, partly because of its habit of hibernation, which may have served as a model of death and rebirth in human societies.”
…and who might be making that sort of a statement, this early in the game? No other than Arianna Huffington. Now AllahPundit says that its because she’s a hyper-partisan. But I suspect something a bit more. I suspect the liberals know that the man that they put in there is, like Jimmy Carter, has been, so far, is horrible failure. Also too; I read the article, and from what I was able to get out of it, the liberal Democrats are scared to death. They are worried because they know that they have no one to run against Obama in 2012.
Hillary you say? Forget it. Clinton’s defeat in 2008 was a wake up call for her. She’s basically finished with politics, once her term is up as Secretary of State; she is out of the political arena for good. I expect the Clinton’s will basically slip off into retirement and only come out once in a blue moon to support some candidate. I have it on good authority that the Clintons are not very happy with the new direction of the Democratic Party at all.
So, basically, what you are seeing here is a classic repeat of what happened in 2000 and 2004; and that is panic among the Liberal Democratic Party elite. Also too, it is a sounding of the alarm to try and make Palin look like a buffoon as much as possible. Which might work, although, I somehow think that the Liberal media is not really wanted to play anymore “Insider games.” With the Journalist scandal still being talked about in the Blogosphere and Conservatives being aware that the liberals were actually colluding together to shape a narrative. Liberal Media types might not be willing to play that game again. That again, is reason for panic among the liberal elite.
Which is basically a good reason to point out, that when you overreach into the media and you collude with others to bring someone down or push a narrative; and you get caught, you should not expect those players involved to want to do it again for you, ever. The sick and sad thing is, that the liberals never learn their lesson. They do this silly stuff over and over and over. Which is why the Republican Party easily trounces them in the elections.
Does this mean that President Obama is racist too?

The question of whether black lawmakers are now being singled out for scrutiny has been simmering throughout the 111th Congress, with the Office of Congressional Ethics a focal point of the concerns. At one point earlier this year, all eight lawmakers under formal investigation by the House ethics committee, including Rangel and Waters, were black Democrats. All those investigations originated with the OCE, which can make recommendations — but take no final actions — on such cases.
There’s a “dual standard, one for most members and one for African-Americans,” said one member of the Congressional Black Caucus, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The member said it’s too easy for an outside group to damage someone’s reputation by filing a claim with OCE.
“This is stacked against you once an accusation is made,” the lawmaker added. “You’re guilty until proven otherwise.”
Um, does this mean that President Obama is a racist too, against his own people?
Here’s the problem with that whole accusation:
The racism charge, though, was rejected by Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, an ethics watchdog group, even as she acknowledged the current situation is bound to anger black lawmakers.
“There are ethics problems within the CBC,” she said. “They have to acknowledge that.”
Sloan noted that several white lawmakers, including Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) and Rep. Pete Visclosky (D-Ind.), are currently under investigation by federal and congressional investigators. Ensign is being investigated by the Senate Ethics Committee and the Justice Department over the fallout from an extramarital affair he had with the wife of a top aide, while Visclosky and his former chief of staff are being probed over their ties to a now-defunct lobbying firm raided by the feds last year.
Two other white lawmakers, Reps. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) and Mark Souder (R-Ind.), resigned this year under ethical clouds. Massa left Congress after POLITICO reported he was under investigation by the ethics committee for sexually harassing male staffers, while Sounder quickly departed after admitting a long-running extramartial affair with a part-time aide. The findings from the Massa investigation have yet to be released by the ethics panel, although Massa is no longer within their jurisdiction.
So much for the fact that the ethics committee targeting the blacks in Congress!
This just shows you the mindset of the Liberal blacks in America today. They somehow believe that they are somehow entitled to break the law, because of the fact that white people kept them as salves over 300 years ago. This is a classic case liberal identity politics at its finest; and before anyone says that I am some sort of a racist for pointing this out. Save your breath, it is NOT racist of ME or anyone else to point out that the black liberals seem to believe that their black skin and their history entitles them to break the law. Further more, it is not racist of me to observe that these liberal black law breaking thugs want to weasel out of corruption charges using the oldest trick in the liberal book —- race baiting.

Once, the iconic figures on the political right were urbane visionaries and builders of institutions — like William F. Buckley Jr., Irving Kristol and Father Richard John Neuhaus, all dead now. Today, far more representative is potty-mouthed Internet entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart, whose news and opinion website, Breitbart.com, is read by millions. In his most recent triumph, Breitbart got a U.S. Department of Agriculture official pushed out of her job after he released a deceptively edited video clip of her supposedly endorsing racism against white people.
What has become of conservatism? We have reached a point at which nothing could be more important than to stop and recall what brought us here, to the right, in the first place.
Buckley’s National Review, where I was the literary editor through the 1990s, remains as vital and interesting as ever. But more characteristic of conservative leadership are figures on TV, radio and the Internet who make their money by stirring fears and resentments. With its descent to baiting blacks, Mexicans and Muslims, its accommodation of conspiracy theories and an increasing nastiness and vulgarity, the conservative movement has undergone a shift toward demagoguery and hucksterism. Once the talk was of “neocons” versus “paleocons.” Now we observe the rule of the crazy-cons.
I highly suggest that you go read the rest of that. I know that this might get me pegged as some sort of a faux right winger or whatever. I have but one thing to say about that —- ask me if I honestly give two flips. The answer would be no.

- Similar nonsense from former Ford-Reagan treasury department officials Ernest Christian and Gary Robbins, who IBD column was, as Doug Marconis observed, “a wildly exaggerated attack on President Obama’s record in office.” Actually, it’s more foaming at the mouth.
- As Doug also observed, “The GOP controlled Congress from 1994 to 2006: Combine neocon warfare spending with entitlements, farm subsidies, education, water projects and you end up with a GOP welfare/warfare state driving the federal spending machine.” Indeed, “when the GOP took control of Congress in 1994, and the White House in 2000, the desire to use the levers of power to create “compassionate conservatism” won our over any semblance of fiscal conservatism. Instead of tax cuts and spending cuts, we got tax cuts along with a trillion dollar entitlement program, a massive expansion of the Federal Government’s role in education, and two wars. That’s not fiscal conservatism it is, as others have said, fiscal insanity.” Yet, today’s GOP still has not articulated a message of real fiscal conservatism.
- Thanks to the Tea Party, the Nevada GOP has probably pissed away a historic chance to out=st Harry Reid. See also Charlie Crist in Florida, Rand Paul in Kentucky, and so on. Whatever happened to not letting perfection be the enemy of the good?
- The anti-science and anti-intellectualism that pervade the movement.
- Trying to pretend Afghanistan is Obama’s war.
- Birthers.
- Nativists.
- The substitution of mouth-foaming, spittle-blasting, rabble-rousing talk radio for reasoned debate. Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Hugh Hewitt, and even Rush Limbaugh are not exactly putting on Firing Line. Whatever happened to smart, well-read, articulate leaders like Buckley, Neuhaus, Kirk, Jack Kent, Goldwater, and, yes, even Ronald Reagan?
As someone who grew during the Ronald Reagan era and respects THAT kind of Conservatism and NOT this idiotic crap that being passed off as Conservatism today; I heartily agree with all of the above. The only thing that Mr. BainBridge missed, is the racism and bigotry towards the Arabs, that has been prevalent in the Right Wing Blogosphere as of late.

Which is exactly my point; pandering to racial fears of black people and Arabs just does not win elections at all. This is especially true among independents — like me. I mean, I grew up in southwest Detroit (proper, not the “Whitey Tighty Suburbs….) and I find this narrative of “Them dirty socialist niggers and crazy rag heads are going to kill us, our wives and eat our children!! ELEVENTY!1!!” to be absolutely vomit provoking at times. I mean, I am not one to jump on the Al Sharpton bandwagon and wave the race flag and play that card. But, sometimes it is just unavoidable. I mean, when you have people calling Dearborn, Michigan “Dearbornstain“, then something is very wrong on the right and that “something wrong” is just straight up bigotry.
Do not misunderstand me; yes, I know black racism does exist, believe you me. I know it does, I have experienced it myself. I was “let go” or as they called it, “laid off” from a job, because of a black boss who had a grudge against white people. However, what I do not do and will never, ever do, is use that fact as an excuse to smear all blacks as bigoted against whites. Nor will I accuse ALL Arabs of being terrorists, which is what many blogs on the right are now doing. Because that is a liberal line of thought called collectivism; and it is a flawed mindset.
In closing, a little while back, I wrote this:
The real sick and sadistic part of this whole mess is this. A little while back, the controversial Louis Farrakhan said that Jews have caused damage to blacks for years. At the time, I thought that to be an outrageous statement, not to mention Anti-Semitic; now it seems that the people like Andrew Breitbart and many others on the right are trying their damnedest to prove Farrakhan right. I think we as a whole, on the right, need to work on that little image very quick. Because frankly at this point, we are giving people like Farrakhan and the many people on the left, that think like him; black, White, Latino, and whatever else, the talking point they need to further that “gospel” of hatred.
I feel that way then and I still do. Andrew Breitbart is Jewish, Pamela Geller is Jewish, Debbie Schlussel is too Jewish; what do these three have in common? They all are in the business of smearing Arabs, and I do mean ALL Arabs as Terrorists and are constantly writing stories on their blogs, which are filled to the brim with nuanced bigotry towards blacks and Arabs.
Until we fix that little problem; Conservatives will be where they are now —- on the sidelines.

Andrew Breitbart, the man who helped get Shirley Sherrod fired from the Department of Agriculture, will be among the voices tea party leaders rely on to reach out to minorities at a special rally in Philadelphia today. “Uni-Tea” kicks off this afternoon with speeches from several prominent African American conservatives as well as the trouble-making founder of Breitbart.com and BigGovernment.
Event co-organizer Jeffrey Weingarten, a tea partier from Morristown, NJ, told TPM yesterday he expects the event to draw crowds of multi-ethnic faces not generally seen at normal tea party events. The goal of the rally is to show off the movement’s diversity on stage while drawing demographics not usually associated with the tea party into the movement.

Allow me to offer a little historical context here. There were different kinds of left; they were:
Nowadays, and since the failure to stop the Vietnam War, the progressive left have been all about social justice or as some call it, Marxism. But what you’ve read over there at McCain’s place, was simply the radical left of the 1950’s and early 1960’s. If Joseph McCarthy was good for anything, it was to drive the Communists more underground, and force the far-left in this Country to change tactics. The Far-left shifted away from the loyalty to communism to more of a subtle Marxist theme of social justice.

Why I left the Far-Right: Exhibit R for Racism and L for Lies
Here is another reason why I basically decided to part ways with the Neo-Conservative, Far-Right in the Blogosphere — Which included me leaving the Conservative Hive on BlogAds.
It seems that some writer over at John Hawkings’s Right Wing News Blog, which is a strict Neo-Conservative Blog, has posted a entry rife full of lies and outright racism towards Arabs in Detroit.
First, the racism:
Just as no good deed goes unpunished, no act of evil remains unrewarded for long — much less a whole career of evil that reached its crescendo with a denunciation of Jews so tasteless that not even the liberal establishment media could stomach it. This is why the Muslim colonists populating Dearbornistan are erecting a statue of Helen Thomas.
Did you get that? “Dearbornistan.” That is what your Far-Right in this Country is come to; outright racism and bigotry towards Arabs. Dearbornistan is a racist play on words for the city of Dearborn, Michigan. Which is populated by Arabs. The good majority of which are peace-loving Muslims and yes, some Christian Arabs as well. But, that is no matter to those on the far-right; they are ate up with bigotry and hatred towards the Arabs in this Country. Mainly because of 9/11. My question to them is this; do two wrongs make a right? I think not. Could you imagine if someone referred to an area of America, that was heavily populated by Jews in the same manner as this? The outrage would be absolutely deafening.
Not being satisfied with just being a racist bigot, this guy is also a liar as well, check out this little nugget of B.S.:
I’d be surprised if taxes aren’t making up most of the difference. No problem, Michigan is flush with cash these days.
Nowhere at all in this story, which is about Helen Thomas getting statue of her likeness in a Arab Museum; does it say a thing about Helen Thomas’s statue being paid for by U.S. Tax dollars, nowhere. But that does not stop these far-right, Neo-Conservative bigots from spreading lies like this. Because, you see, it is all about their bigoted little narrative, that ALL Arabs are terrorists, and that they are out to kill all Americans and so forth.
Do not misunderstand me here, I do not not, nor will I ever side with the socialist left in this Country. But I will be damned if I ever side with a bunch of far-right bigots either! This is the reason why I personally believe that the Republican Party is going to get it’s ASS handed to it in the primaries and in 2012. The American people, like me, just do not have any tolerance for bigotry and racism —– towards ANY race at all. This is why I voted libertarian in the 2008 election. One because I thought Sarah Palin was an idiot, and still do; two because of this sort of idiotic racist bigotry that exists in the Conservative circles. It is wrong, it should be flushed out and exposed for what it really is.
I mean, these guys are acting like the Jim Crow racist Democrats of the south prior to 1964. It is truly unreal.
Let me also say this; this sort of crap right here, is why I basically parted ways with the more Paleo-Conservative circles in the past. Because I just do not have any tolerance for this sort of nuanced bigotry and racism, and now here it is being found in the more main-stream, Neo-Conservative circles. If William F. Buckley was alive he would be fit to be tied for idiotic nonsense like this. Using 9/11 as a license to act like Klan members; it is truly unbelievable.
BREAKING NEWS: Israel launches Air Strike on Gaza Strip Targets after Rocket Attacks

Israel launched a series of airstrikes in Gaza starting late Friday in response to a rocket assault on Ashkelon earlier in the day.
The Israel Defense Forces said the strikes targeted three locations in Gaza: a Hamas “terror-activity site” in the north, a weapons manufacturing site in central Gaza and a weapons smuggling tunnel in Rafah.
The first strike around 11:30 p.m. (4:30 p.m. ET) hit a runway near the compound of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, which is now occupied by Hamas . . .

Earlier on Friday, the Foreign Ministry instructed Israeli ambassadors to file an immediate complaint to the president of the UN Security Council and the Human Rights Council in Geneva following the attack in Ashkelon and mortar fire in the western Negev on Friday.
“In the complaint, Israel will emphasize that the grad missile launch on a city the size of Ashkelon, is a clear attempt to kill men, women and children and is a clear violation of international law and sheds light on the murderous, barbaric and violent intent of the missile attack,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yossi Levy.
A Grad missile launched from the Gaza Strip landed in a central, residential area in the southern city of Ashkelon Friday morning.

I think it just needs to be said. This stupid nonsense with the rocket attacks into Israel from Gaza has gone on long enough. Israel needs to either step it up or shut up. Israel needs to execute a World War II style bombing attack on Gaza AND Palestine; what I mean, is this — Israel needs to bomb these damned bastards, until the last one of the lot stops breathing. I am talking about carpet bombing the entire damned lot of them. Enough is enough! Peace treaties have been signed and they failed, bogus promises have been made, and they have been reneged on. The only language that these Arab bastards seem to understand, is the end of a gun or the end of a bomb rocket. It is time to speak the language of these idiots and give them what they truly want, and that is a one way ticket to go see Allah.
Anything other that this, and Israel is just wasting their time and their resources.
But, as we all know, Israel will not do this; because they are cowards. They kowtow to the United Nations and when the U.N. says jump, they do not ask how high or when they can come down; and as long as this is the case, Israel will have to contend with these bastards. That my friends, is the real tragic thing about this whole situation; the fact the an entire Nation is essentially held in a “Concentration Camp” style of bind and cannot defend its own Nation from those who wish to see it destroyed. Which sounds like another Nation that I know. —— Ours.

The Afghan War was, at its inception, a just war.
If the Taliban would not turn over bin Laden and those who plotted the mass murder of 3,000 Americans, we had a right to go in after him, as Woodrow Wilson had a right to send Gen. John Pershing into Mexico to find and kill Pancho Villa after he murdered Americans in New Mexico.
But after the defeat of the Taliban by the Northern Alliance, the overthrow of Mullah Omar and our failure to capture or kill bin Laden at Tora Bora, we decided to stay on and convert the most tribalized and xenophobic land on earth into an Islamic democracy and strategic ally.
We will soon enter the 10th year of this war. And though 100,000 U.S. and 50,000 NATO troops are committed, the Taliban are winning — because they are not losing. They are more numerous, more deadly and more resourceful than they have been since their ouster in 2001.
Even Gen. Stanley McChrystal said the war was a draw. And Biden says we have reached the limit of our commitment.
Thus, what we are looking at is endless bleeding, now running at 60 dead U.S. soldiers a month, with no American military or political leader willing to say when the bleeding will stop or the war will end.
And the home front is visibly eroding. A majority of Americans now believe the war is unwinnable or not worth the cost, and a growing minority in Congress wants out. Some NATO allies are departing. Others are setting deadlines for withdrawal.
As for the Afghans we leave behind, who committed themselves to America’s war, they will, when we depart, suffer the fate of the “harkis” in Algeria, the South Vietnamese army and boat people, and the Cambodians we left behind to the tender mercies of the Khmer Rouge.
Have the politicians, journalists and think-tank geniuses who dreamed up these wars suffered ignominy and disgrace?
Not at all. They are debating and devising a new war — with Iran.

Maybe that is because the Democrats ARE whiny, weak and impotent. Just look at who they elected in the White House! HA! 😛
As Christians, we should be praying for our President
I know some of you are going to groan aloud when I write this, well, too bad. Because I believe this is an important point to make.
I happened to be roaming around the White House’s official Flickr Stream and I came across this photo; and it really hit me hard. I know, that I do not much blog about Christianity and Religious stuff much, except to criticize that crowd, but I would be an abject fool, if I did not stop and opine about this photo.
Because I am not a partisan hack or a person who is loyal to a party, I feel the need to say this.
The President of the United States, Barack Obama was elected by the majority of America. The fate of our Nation’s future rests on his shoulders. I believe that Christians everywhere, in spite of their political convictions should keep this man in his prayers. We should be asking God to guide this man, protect him from any crazy people out that might want to hurt him and to ask the Lord to guide him to make the right decisions that will affect the future of America. That is what we should be doing.
This is not to say that there not a place for Political criticism; but rather a reminder that his job, is the hardest in the World and that a little help from the One above is always nice to have.
Remember this today.

Now, for the $100 question. Which am I? Neo or Paleo? Well, honestly, I am a bit of both. There are good and bad in both schools. Really, There are eleven different schools of Conservatism; they are:
I believe that all of these schools have good ideas and some bad. I believe that we as Conservatives should try and embrace all of the ideas within these different schools and try to work on a collation in the Conservative movement to run in opposition to the big Government ideas of the Democratic Party. The problem is, that people within Republican Party are more interested in party loyalty, than they are furthering the cause of Conservatism.
Having said all that, do what you can to help.

Among the recommended proposals are more generous unemployment benefits, more job-training and job-placement programs, greater subsidies for child care, more generous child-nutrition programs, direct welfare payments for those with children, government intervention to prevent foreclosures, expanded low-income-housing programs, an increased minimum wage, government intervention to increase the pay of occupations dominated by women, mandatory paid family and sick leave, and, of course, government-provided health care. In other words, complete cradle-to-grave, taxpayer-provided government support.
It’s tempting to call this paper sexist: Women — especially unmarried women — are portrayed as barely able to subsist without extra protection. One could also ruminate on CAP’s view of family formation, which seems willing to substitute a dependent relationship on the government for marriage. A woman without a man is encouraged to depend on Uncle Sam.

Evangelical Christian minister Tim LaHaye says that the policy initiatives put forth by the Obama administration are bringing the country “closer to the apocalypse.”
LaHaye issued the dire warning in an appearance this week on Mike Huckabee’s talk show on Fox News.
“Our present president doesn’t seem to get it,” LaHaye explained. “He doesn’t understand that some of the things he’s introducing that many of us call ‘raw socialism’ — it’s a different name, but it’s essentially government control and government domination of everything.”
The evangelical voice said of the political platform maintained by the Obama administration, “It’s going to work against our country and bringing us closer to the apocalypse.”
Huckabee went on to prod LaHaye a bit further on his assertion. “Are we now living in the end times, from your perspective?” asked the former Arkansas Governor and possible 2012 White House contender.
LaHaye’s response: “Very definitely, governor.”
Tim Lahaye does not know the hour of the coming of Christ, than anyone else. Further more, President Obama is not pushing us closer to the coming of Christ, no more than Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., Ronald Reagan or Jimmy Carter. This is classic straight up fear-mongering.

Zach Wamp (R-TN), who is also a leading candidate for the GOP nomination for governor, joined a conference call with the right-wing National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Ousted Agriculture Department employee said Thursday she will sue a conservative blogger who posted an edited video of her making racially tinged remarks last week.
Sherrod made the announcement in San Diego at the National Association of Black Journalists annual convention.
The edited video posted by Andrew Breitbart led Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to ask her to resign, a decision he reconsidered after seeing the entire video of her March speech to a local NAACP group. In the full speech, Sherrod spoke of racial reconciliation and lessons she learned after initially hesitating to help a white farmer save his home.

For this, he should be required to pay.

Breaking News: Federal Judge blocks parts of Arizona’s immigration law
Some of you might think that you know what I am going to have to say about this:
PHOENIX – A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the most controversial parts of Arizona’s immigration law from taking effect, delivering a last-minute victory to opponents of the crackdown.
The overall law will still take effect Thursday, but without the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other laws.
The judge also put on hold parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places. In addition, the judge blocked officers from making warrantless arrests of suspected illegal immigrants.
“Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked,” U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton ruled.

Before I submit myself to a thrashing in the comments section; Lemmie ‘splain myself a little here, h’okay?
Yes, I know that the Obama Administration is doing a horribly lousy job on illegal immigration, namely on immigration enforcement; just like the Bush Administration was doing a lousy job on immigration enforcement. Towards the end, the Bush Administration finally conducted some ICE raids, mostly because of the bitching that took place here in the Blogosphere and also to a bigger degree on Fox News, and by Lou Dobbs back when he was on CNN.
Alright now, that I got that out of the way. Let me explain my position; as much as I know illegal immigration is a bad thing, in more ways that one. I simply do not support this bill, why? Because of this right here. I believe in the proper role of Government. I believe that Federal Law trumps State law, and the proper role of Government falls to the feds on immigration enforcement. What this law did, was basically overextend the role of the State Government over the Federal Government and Constitutionally, that is a big fat no-no. Not only that; because I am a libertarian-minded person, I believe in the old idea, that was spoken so very well, by the late great President Ronald Reagan. That is that “Big Government is Bad Government…” What I mean is this, when you handle a law enforcement officer the tools to basically harass people based upon skin color, you are asking for trouble. This law assumed that every police officer in Arizona was an honest, upstanding officer of the law. This is a fatal assumption I am afraid.
The point I am trying to make is this, when you expand the size of Government of whatever branch; whether it be Federal, State or local, you are asking for trouble. That is what was the potentiality of this law. There are more saner approaches to enforcement of immigration laws; one is for the feds to their jobs, and not for the States to trump the federal Government.
That is my opinion and I welcome yours.

Remember how the liberal left told everyone that the Afghan War was the good war and the Iran War was the evil war?
Well, they lied.

Hundreds of Afghan civilians who worked as informants for the U.S. military have been put at risk by WikiLeaks’ publication of more than 90,000 classified intelligence reports which name and in many cases locate the individuals, The Times newspaper reported Wednesday.
The article says, in spite of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s claim that sensitive information had been removed from the leaked documents, that reporters scanning the reports for just a couple hours found hundreds of Afghan names mentioned as aiding the U.S.-led war effort.
One specific example cited by the paper is a report on an interview conducted by military officers of a potential Taliban defector. The militant is named, along with his father and the village in which they live.
“The leaks certainly have put in real risk and danger the lives and integrity of many Afghans,” a senior official at the Afghan foreign ministry told The Times on condition of anonymity. “The U.S. is both morally and legally responsible for any harm that the leaks might cause to the individuals, particularly those who have been named. It will further limit the U.S./international access to the uncensored views of Afghans.”

The Massachusetts Legislature has approved a new law intended to bypass the Electoral College system and ensure that the winner of the presidential election is determined by the national popular vote.
“What we are submitting is the idea that the president should be selected by the majority of people in the United States of America,” Senator James B. Eldridge, an Acton Democrat, said before the Senate voted to enact the bill.
Under the new bill, he said, “Every vote will be of the same weight across the country.”
But Senate minority leader Richard Tisei said the state was meddling with a system that was “tried and true” since the founding of the country.
“We’ve had a lot of bad ideas come through this chamber over the years, but this is going to be one of the worst ideas that has surfaced and actually garnered some support,” said Tisei, who is also the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor.

Al Qaeda’s second in command Ayman Al-Zawahiri threatens more attacks on U.S. Soil
As much as I hate to sound like a partisan on this subject; I feel the need to write this:
Al Qaeda’s second in command Ayman Al-Zawahiri has surfaced again, this time threatening more attacks against the U.S. and the West.
“Oh American people…We offered you a peace plan, and mutual benefit; but your governments were proud and haughty, and so the attacks against you followed one after another, everywhere – from Indonesia to Times Square, by way of Madrid and London. And the attacks are ongoing, and more will come one after another,” said Zawahiri, according to a transcript provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute, based in Washington, DC.
Zawahiri also continued his promise of near victory in Iraq and Afghanistan, among other issues.
Former White House national security official Richard Clarke, now an ABC News consultant, said that up until this point, there haven’t been any correlations between Zawahiri’s past threats and any attacks actually occurring.
“U.S. government and counterterrorism officials are not going to increase their alert based on Zawahiri’s statement, because of his previous track record,” Clarke said. “But they’re on relatively high alert already because of the increase in homegrown terrorist threats related to al Qaeda.”
The 47-minute audio message, a eulogy for Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid, was posted on jihadist websites July 27 by al Qaeda’s media arm Al-Sahab.

Does it not strike anyone else as extremely ironic, that the United States of America, with all of it’s vast capabilities of spying, with all of it’s military might, with all of it’s ability to track down and hunt people who are operating outside of law; cannot tract down a couple of religious throwbacks that are intent on destroying America? Now, if I were some sort of partisan idiot; I would say something very stupid like, “Obama does not want these guys caught, because he is some sort of a undercover Muslim.” But I am not, so, no, I am not going to say this; because quite frankly, that sort of statement for one, is hateful and racist as hell, and two, is out of touch with reality.
What I will say this; this is a perfect example of that the fact that big Government just does not work. The Presidents, past and present, continue to throw money at our Military and intelligence services; but yet they cannot catch these idiots? Does anyone else, besides me, find this to be incredibility ironic? I mean, if someone like me, got behind on my taxes, the United States Government would have no trouble whatsoever tracking me down and find me. But these religious throwbacks cannot be found. I do not believe in conspiracy theories at all. But I believe this points to a systematic failure of our Government on the highest of levels; which reaffirms my personal belief that big Government is a bad idea and that it simply does not work.
