Interesting Reading: Howard Zinn was a Communist after all

Head on over and read.

Related snort worthy Blog headline:

Howard Zinn a communist? Next you’ll be telling me Madonna used sex to sell records!

*Snort*

I love it. 😀 😆

Allow me to offer a little historical context here. There were different kinds of left; they were:

 1. Old Left
 2. New Left

Nowadays, and since the failure to stop the Vietnam War, the progressive left have been all about social justice or as some call it, Marxism. But what you’ve read over there at McCain’s place, was simply the radical left of the 1950’s and early 1960’s. If Joseph McCarthy was good for anything, it was to drive the Communists more underground, and force the far-left in this Country to change tactics. The Far-left shifted away from the loyalty to communism to more of a subtle Marxist theme of social justice.

Disclaimer: I do not claim to be a expert on the far-liberal left. But I do know how they work. Good place to start would be here.

Just to show that I am fair and balanced. A good place to read up on the many annals of Conservatism is….here.

Swapping Rock and Roll Links

I started to write, “Swapping Rock and Roll Spit,” but I figure ya’ll think I was being a little queer. 😉

Anyhow, responding to this here and here:

Only Bill Idol song that I happen think is worth a flip is….:

Honestly, I really did not much get into Bill Idol. He was, I always said, a, um, Girlie singer… You know chicks dug him, not guys. Gay guys maybe. But I digress. I didn’t think idol was a overly great singer either. Just that Hendrix-type of yelling in tune crap. The music was a bit of that three chord simpleton stuff of the late 70’s and early 80’s.

Now on the other hand, I did and still do like these guys:

And on a more serious note:

Lyrics:

This tired city was somebody’s dream
Billboard horizons as black as they seem

Four level highways across the land
We’re building a home for the family of man

And it’s so hard whatever we are coming to
Yes it’s so hard with so little time

And so much to do

Time running out for the family of man

One man to lead us with so much to say
Moving the mountains that got in our way

Prayer books and meetings to find a plan
Deciding the fate of the family of man

Memories replacing the loves that we’ve lost
Burning our bridges as soon as they’re crossed

Factories built where the rivers ran
And time running out for the family of man

In case you don’t get it. That song is basically about suburban sprawl.

Why I left the Far-Right: Exhibit R for Racism and L for Lies

Here is another reason why I basically decided to part ways with the Neo-Conservative, Far-Right in the Blogosphere — Which included me leaving the Conservative Hive on BlogAds.

It seems that some writer over at John Hawkings’s Right Wing News Blog, which is a strict Neo-Conservative Blog, has posted a entry rife full of lies and outright racism towards Arabs in Detroit.

First, the racism:

Just as no good deed goes unpunished, no act of evil remains unrewarded for long — much less a whole career of evil that reached its crescendo with a denunciation of Jews so tasteless that not even the liberal establishment media could stomach it. This is why the Muslim colonists populating Dearbornistan are erecting a statue of Helen Thomas.

Did you get that? “Dearbornistan.” That is what your Far-Right in this Country is come to; outright racism and bigotry towards Arabs. Dearbornistan is a racist play on words for the city of Dearborn, Michigan. Which is populated by Arabs. The good majority of which are peace-loving Muslims and yes, some Christian Arabs as well. But, that is no matter to those on the far-right; they are ate up with bigotry and hatred towards the Arabs in this Country. Mainly because of 9/11. My question to them is this; do two wrongs make a right? I think not. Could you imagine if someone referred to an area of America, that was heavily populated by Jews in the same manner as this? The outrage would be absolutely deafening.

Not being satisfied with just being a racist bigot, this guy is also a liar as well, check out this little nugget of B.S.:

I’d be surprised if taxes aren’t making up most of the difference. No problem, Michigan is flush with cash these days.

Nowhere at all in this story, which is about Helen Thomas getting statue of her likeness in a Arab Museum; does it say a thing about Helen Thomas’s statue being paid for by U.S. Tax dollars, nowhere. But that does not stop these far-right, Neo-Conservative bigots from spreading lies like this. Because, you see, it is all about their bigoted little narrative, that ALL Arabs are terrorists, and that they are out to kill all Americans and so forth.

Do not misunderstand me here, I do not not, nor will I ever side with the socialist left in this Country. But I will be damned if I ever side with a bunch of far-right bigots either! This is the reason why I personally believe that the Republican Party is going to get it’s ASS handed to it in the primaries and in 2012. The American people, like me, just do not have any tolerance for bigotry and racism —– towards ANY race at all. This is why I voted libertarian in the 2008 election. One because I thought Sarah Palin was an idiot, and still do; two because of this sort of idiotic racist bigotry that exists in the Conservative circles. It is wrong, it should be flushed out and exposed for what it really is.

I mean, these guys are acting like the Jim Crow racist Democrats of the south prior to 1964. It is truly unreal.

Let me also say this; this sort of crap right here, is why I basically parted ways with the more Paleo-Conservative circles in the past. Because I just do not have any tolerance for this sort of nuanced bigotry and racism, and now here it is being found in the more main-stream, Neo-Conservative circles. If William F. Buckley was alive he would be fit to be tied for idiotic nonsense like this. Using 9/11 as a license to act like Klan members; it is truly unbelievable.

Sorry, but, no one rescued me

I feel the need to write about this, but I am not. I am going to post a video reply.

Over at “The Other McCain”, I saw this headline:

EMERGENCY: SAVE STOGIE!

Aside from the “ZOMG! Eleventy!!!!” element to it. I didn’t think much of it. So, I went over and looked:

Home foreclosures are continuing at a brisk pace, according to an article by McClatchy News. Many of the first foreclosures that began three years ago, when the housing bubble began to burst, were for subprime mortgages. Now, however, a fresh batch of foreclosures is occurring because people have lost their jobs and can’t pay them. I am now in that category. I didn’t pay my July mortgage payment and probably will miss August as well. I haven’t been answering the phone, which rings constantly from bill collectors.

Our savings kept us afloat for a year. When it was gone, I borrowed the equity out of my life insurance. That’s gone too. We were hoping to ride out this recession, to survive until it was over.

This prompted a back and forth between me and Robert Stacy McCain:

Meh, No pity…

Maybe Rupert Murdok or one of his Zionist friends can bail him out.

Dammit, Pat, if you knew what a great guy Stogie is, you wouldn’t say useless crap like that. I was tempted to delete your comment, but I’ll leave it up, just to chastise your conscience when you see the testimonials to Stogie’s valiant character.

Pat

I’m sure he is a great guy. But nobody bailed my ass out when I was over 18 grand in the hole back in 2004. I filed for chapter 7 and started over.

I’m just sayin’…

Of course, McCain’s sock puppets came out in full force against me; which is of no surprise.

Here’s my video reply on the subject and my apologies in advance for the poor audio quality and picture:

That’s my opinion, and I welcome yours.

Boy can I relate, to a point: Anne Rice quits Christianity

Writer Anne Rice announced on her facebook page, that she’s had it with the organized Church: (Via)

For those who care, and I understand if you don’t: Today I quit being a Christian. I’m out. I remain committed to Christ as always but not to being “Christian” or to being part of Christianity. It’s simply impossible for me to “belong” to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I’ve tried. I’ve failed. I’m an outside. My conscience will allow nothing else.

[….]

As I said below, I quit being a Christian. I’m out. In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control. I refuse to be anti-Democrat. I refuse to be anti-secular humanism. I refuse to be anti-science. I refuse to be anti-life. In the name of Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen.

[….]

My faith in Christ is central to my life. My conversion from a pessimistic atheist lost in a world I didn’t understand, to an optimistic believer in a universe created and sustained by a loving God is crucial to me. But following Christ does not mean following His followers. Christ is infinitely more important than Christianity and always will be, no matter what Christianity is, has been or might become.

[….]

My posts about quitting Christianity have brought in a lot of mail. Most of it is positive; a small amount is negative. But one thing is clear: people care passionately about belief. They care about living lives of meaning and significance. And that is a beautiful and reassuring thing. I’ll have more on the subject in… the future.

I can relate, to a point. As far as the Anti-Gay nonsense. Let’s go to the Bible:

Read from 1 Corinthians 6:8-10 from the Amplified Bible:

But [instead it is you] yourselves who wrong and defraud, and that even your own brethren [by so treating them]!

Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality,

Nor cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.

You cannot separate God, or Christ from his Word. Some more Bible:

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:1-3 (King James Version)

and….

25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish , neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

30 I and my Father are one.

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33 The Jews answered him, saying , For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said , Ye are gods?

35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came , and the scripture cannot be broken ; — John 10:25-35 (King James Version)

If that is what she is running from, I say let her run. But she’s referring to the people who claim to represent Christ, acting like heathens, and basically saying one thing from the pulpit and doing another in their lives; I can very much relate.

BREAKING NEWS: Israel launches Air Strike on Gaza Strip Targets after Rocket Attacks

(H/T The Other McCain)

This is getting to be a bit ridiculous. I mean are the people in Gaza this stupid? I mean, seriously.

Via CNN:

Israel launched a series of airstrikes in Gaza starting late Friday in response to a rocket assault on Ashkelon earlier in the day.

The Israel Defense Forces said the strikes targeted three locations in Gaza: a Hamas “terror-activity site” in the north, a weapons manufacturing site in central Gaza and a weapons smuggling tunnel in Rafah.

The first strike around 11:30 p.m. (4:30 p.m. ET) hit a runway near the compound of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, which is now occupied by Hamas . . .

….and More via Jerusalem Post:

Earlier on Friday, the Foreign Ministry instructed Israeli ambassadors to file an immediate complaint to the president of the UN Security Council and the Human Rights Council in Geneva following the attack in Ashkelon and mortar fire in the western Negev on Friday.

“In the complaint, Israel will emphasize that the grad missile launch on a city the size of Ashkelon, is a clear attempt to kill men, women and children and is a clear violation of international law and sheds light on the murderous, barbaric and violent intent of the missile attack,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yossi Levy.

A Grad missile launched from the Gaza Strip landed in a central, residential area in the southern city of Ashkelon Friday morning.

and… Via the MSDNC….er… MSNBC:

[T]he attack ended over a year of calm for the Israeli city closest to Gaza.

A police spokesman said the rocket was a 122mm, Chinese-made Grad, with a heavier payload and greater range than the crude, homemade rockets Gaza militants were launching daily until Israel’s three-week military offensive into Gaza 18 months ago. . . .

Ashkelon, with a population of 125,000, lies on the coast about 12 km (7 miles) north of the Gaza Strip. The mayor said it was the most serious attack on the city since Israel wound up its offensive in January 2009, largely ending Gaza rocket fire.

I think it just needs to be said. This stupid nonsense with the rocket attacks into Israel from Gaza has gone on long enough. Israel needs to either step it up or shut up. Israel needs to execute a World War II style bombing attack on Gaza AND Palestine; what I mean, is this — Israel needs to bomb these damned bastards, until the last one of the lot stops breathing. I am talking about carpet bombing the entire damned lot of them. Enough is enough! Peace treaties have been signed and they failed, bogus promises have been made, and they have been reneged on. The only language that these Arab bastards seem to understand, is the end of a gun or the end of a bomb rocket. It is time to speak the language of these idiots and give them what they truly want, and that is a one way ticket to go see Allah.

Anything other that this, and Israel is just wasting their time and their resources.

But, as we all know, Israel will not do this; because they are cowards. They kowtow to the United Nations and when the U.N. says jump, they do not ask how high or when they can come down; and as long as this is the case, Israel will have to contend with these bastards. That my friends, is the real tragic thing about this whole situation; the fact the an entire Nation is essentially held in a “Concentration Camp” style of bind and cannot defend its own Nation from those who wish to see it destroyed. Which sounds like another Nation that I know. —— Ours.

Quote of the Day

The Afghan War was, at its inception, a just war.

If the Taliban would not turn over bin Laden and those who plotted the mass murder of 3,000 Americans, we had a right to go in after him, as Woodrow Wilson had a right to send Gen. John Pershing into Mexico to find and kill Pancho Villa after he murdered Americans in New Mexico.

But after the defeat of the Taliban by the Northern Alliance, the overthrow of Mullah Omar and our failure to capture or kill bin Laden at Tora Bora, we decided to stay on and convert the most tribalized and xenophobic land on earth into an Islamic democracy and strategic ally.

We will soon enter the 10th year of this war. And though 100,000 U.S. and 50,000 NATO troops are committed, the Taliban are winning — because they are not losing. They are more numerous, more deadly and more resourceful than they have been since their ouster in 2001.

Even Gen. Stanley McChrystal said the war was a draw. And Biden says we have reached the limit of our commitment.

Thus, what we are looking at is endless bleeding, now running at 60 dead U.S. soldiers a month, with no American military or political leader willing to say when the bleeding will stop or the war will end.

And the home front is visibly eroding. A majority of Americans now believe the war is unwinnable or not worth the cost, and a growing minority in Congress wants out. Some NATO allies are departing. Others are setting deadlines for withdrawal.

As for the Afghans we leave behind, who committed themselves to America’s war, they will, when we depart, suffer the fate of the “harkis” in Algeria, the South Vietnamese army and boat people, and the Cambodians we left behind to the tender mercies of the Khmer Rouge.

Have the politicians, journalists and think-tank geniuses who dreamed up these wars suffered ignominy and disgrace?

Not at all. They are debating and devising a new war — with Iran.

Between this here and these here, I really have to wonder about this Weiner guy:

And this is because, when you kick your husband out, you’ve got to have Big Brother government to be your provider. . . .”

This insane statement is not a “fact.”

This is funny too: you could not make no better decision to protect you and your Family’s future.

P.S.: English, not German. We English-users don’t just randomly capitalize words (“Family”) because we think they’re important.

Typical Liberal nonsense, when you cannot argue facts, you stoop to insults.

As a said before:

….as are most, if not all, liberals.

Living Proof that Liberals are classless assholes

This one comes via Eyeblast TV and is via HotAir’s Headlines:

Even the Liberal Media is saying that this guy is an idiot:

To be clear, I’m all for the kind of passion Weiner is showing here, but let’s direct it properly. Don’t get into a shouting match about procedure. As emotionally satisfying as it may be to watch, raging against the GOP opposition machine’s successful efforts to tie Dems in knots just makes Dems look whiny, weak and impotent.

Maybe that is because the Democrats ARE whiny, weak and impotent. Just look at who they elected in the White House! HA! 😛

As Christians, we should be praying for our President

P040610PS-0095

I know some of you are going to groan aloud when I write this, well, too bad. Because I believe this is an important point to make.

I happened to be roaming around the White House’s official Flickr Stream and I came across this photo; and it really hit me hard. I know, that I do not much blog about Christianity and Religious stuff much, except to criticize that crowd, but I would be an abject fool, if I did not stop and opine about this photo.

Because I am not a partisan hack or a person who is loyal to a party, I feel the need to say this.

The President of the United States, Barack Obama was elected by the majority of America. The fate of our Nation’s future rests on his shoulders. I believe that Christians everywhere, in spite of their political convictions should keep this man in his prayers. We should be asking God to guide this man, protect him from any crazy people out that might want to hurt him and to ask the Lord to guide him to make the right decisions that will affect the future of America. That is what we should be doing.

This is not to say that there not a place for Political criticism; but rather a reminder that his job, is the hardest in the World and that a little help from the One above is always nice to have.

Remember this today.

Support The American Conservative

I will admit, I do not always agree with what I read at The American Conservative. However, I do believe in a diversity of thought and Ideas within the realm of Conservatism.

It appears that The American Conservative is having a Donation drive and is in need of financial support. Now, is The American Conservative a George W. Bush loving, flag waving Neo-Conservative publication? No, quite the opposite. In fact, check out this quote:

I agree with that, and if I could, I would be sending them the $20.000 they need to stay afloat. But, I am one of the people, suffering under the brutal leadership of the Democratic Party here in Detroit, Michigan. So, please, if you are able, donate to that fine publication, and help keep the voice of American Conservatism in print and on the internet.

Click here to Donate to the American Conservative.

Now, for the $100 question. Which am I? Neo or Paleo? Well, honestly, I am a bit of both. There are good and bad in both schools. Really, There are eleven different schools of Conservatism; they are:

I believe that all of these schools have good ideas and some bad. I believe that we as Conservatives should try and embrace all of the ideas within these different schools and try to work on a collation in the Conservative movement to run in opposition to the big Government ideas of the Democratic Party. The problem is, that people within Republican Party are more interested in party loyalty, than they are furthering the cause of Conservatism.

Having said all that, do what you can to help.

Phyllis Schlafly and stubborn facts

I got to hand it to Phyllis Schlafly she really knows how to make the Liberal left crazy. I love her for that.

The Video:

The Money Quote:

“One of the things Obama’s been doing is deliberately trying to increase the percentage of our population that is dependent on government for their living. For example, do you know what was the second-biggest demographic group that voted for Obama? . . . Unmarried women. Seventy percent of unmarried women voted for Obama. And this is because, when you kick your husband out, you’ve got to have Big Brother government to be your provider. . . .”

Now the facts, taken by poll by CNN:

Stubborn Facts

Not to mention this:

Take a recent report entitled “Advancing the Economic Security of Unmarried Women” by the Center for American Progress, the “progressive” nonprofit run by Bill Clinton’s former chief of staff John Podesta. The report reviews the problems of a growing segment of our society: unmarried women. They are poorer, more likely than other women to be unemployed, have less access to health care, and often struggle to care for children without support from fathers.

What’s CAP’s solution? More government at every turn. Among the recommended proposals are more generous unemployment benefits, more job-training and job-placement programs, greater subsidies for child care, more generous child-nutrition programs, direct welfare payments for those with children, government intervention to prevent foreclosures, expanded low-income-housing programs, an increased minimum wage, government intervention to increase the pay of occupations dominated by women, mandatory paid family and sick leave, and, of course, government-provided health care. In other words, complete cradle-to-grave, taxpayer-provided government support.

It’s tempting to call this paper sexist: Women — especially unmarried women — are portrayed as barely able to subsist without extra protection. One could also ruminate on CAP’s view of family formation, which seems willing to substitute a dependent relationship on the government for marriage. A woman without a man is encouraged to depend on Uncle Sam.

Once again, Phyllis Schlafly makes the liberal left crazy…. With the FACTS!

...and I just love her for that…..

Phyllis Schlafly is the real deal — a True Conservative Christian woman, who; unlike Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham, dresses, talks and acts like a true Conservative Christian woman.

The thing that I find some incredibly ironic, is that the fact that liberals think that Phyllis Schlafly is speaking extremism. But Mike Malloy wishing that Glenn Back and Rush Limbaugh would die, is perfectly fine. It’s funny how those liberals work, isn’t it?

By the way, I have an entire WING of Mrs. Schlafly’s books in my Bookstore.

Why do Conservative Republicans and Christians say stupid stuff like this?

Today it is a twofer.

First in the Christian Column:

The Story over at the Puffington Post:

Evangelical Christian minister Tim LaHaye says that the policy initiatives put forth by the Obama administration are bringing the country “closer to the apocalypse.”

LaHaye issued the dire warning in an appearance this week on Mike Huckabee’s talk show on Fox News.

“Our present president doesn’t seem to get it,” LaHaye explained. “He doesn’t understand that some of the things he’s introducing that many of us call ‘raw socialism’ — it’s a different name, but it’s essentially government control and government domination of everything.”

The evangelical voice said of the political platform maintained by the Obama administration, “It’s going to work against our country and bringing us closer to the apocalypse.”

Huckabee went on to prod LaHaye a bit further on his assertion. “Are we now living in the end times, from your perspective?” asked the former Arkansas Governor and possible 2012 White House contender.

LaHaye’s response: “Very definitely, governor.”

Tim Lahaye does not know the hour of the coming of Christ, than anyone else. Further more, President Obama is not pushing us closer to the coming of Christ, no more than Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., Ronald Reagan or Jimmy Carter. This is classic straight up fear-mongering.

A little Bible:

35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew 24:35-37, King James Version)

and….

31Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

32But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

33Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. (Mark 13:31-33, King James Version)

Anyone who says ANYTHING other than this, is blowing smoke up your skirt. period, end of story.

Next, we have this little gem here:

This past Tuesday, Rep. Zach Wamp (R-TN), who is also a leading candidate for the GOP nomination for governor, joined a conference call with the right-wing National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). When the subject of extending unemployment benefits arose, Wamp complained that giving people unemployment insurance was “creating a culture of dependence which we do not need.” He then said that he wants “people out there scraping and clawing and looking for work and not just sitting back waiting.

Wamp […] said small business, the NFIB and he as governor “must resist… any more mandates to small business to help the unemployed — that we have continued to extend on a federal level, I think, unemployment compensation so long that there’s disincentives for people to actually re-enter the workforce or go out and look for a job.

“And this is creating a culture of dependence which we do not need. We want people out there scraping and clawing and looking for work and not just sitting back waiting. And so we’ve got to not allow any more mandates.”

Oy. Talk about done deaf. Before anyone hollers at me about the source of this story here; please, save it. I am not some sort of partisan hack. I believe the stupidity is stupidity. No matter who is reporting it.

Open Message to Governor Tim Pawlenty: Please, Run in 2012

Man, I love this: (H/T HotAir)

Some of the commentators over at HotAir are saying that T-Paw does not have the “it” factor or that he’s not Sarah Palin. To that I say, thank God he is not all of those things. I want someone that will actually will lead this Country; not some washed up broad, who thinks she is entitled to be President, because she is a woman. (Hello Hillary!) Not someone who’s thinks he is entitled to be President, because he is some sort of a Millionaire or on some sort of Mormon Mission. (Hello Mittens!)

So, to Governor Tim Pawlenty: In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, In the Name of the United States of America; the greatest Country on Earth: Please, Run for President of the United States! I will Blog for you, I will work on your campaign. Anything! You name it. We need someone who will actually lead! Without the rock-star stupidity.

We need someone like Governor Tim Pawlenty, and we need him now. Please, Tim, Run.

Update: Smitty links in from The Other McCain

If you have come looking for the Scott Roeder, Tiller Murder posting

Basically, I deleted it.

Here’s why: I’ve been noticing that there have been people linking to that story. The people who have been doing this have their own agendas. Some of which, I am not interested in being a part of. So, I killed the posting.

Normally, as a rule, I do not delete my postings, unless I fear problems. But, in this case, I felt the need to make an exception.

Dr. Tiller’s murder was a tragic thing, and I do not want to be accused to encouraging someone to do it again to another doctor.

Yes, Dr. Killer was a baby killer, but Dr. Tiller’s Murderer was also a killer. Two wrongs, do not make a right.

That is all.

BREAKING NEWS: Shirley Sherrod to sue Andrew Breitbart

Could not happen to a better person, if you ask me:

Ousted Agriculture Department employee said Thursday she will sue a conservative blogger who posted an edited video of her making racially tinged remarks last week.

Sherrod made the announcement in San Diego at the National Association of Black Journalists annual convention.

The edited video posted by Andrew Breitbart led Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to ask her to resign, a decision he reconsidered after seeing the entire video of her March speech to a local NAACP group. In the full speech, Sherrod spoke of racial reconciliation and lessons she learned after initially hesitating to help a white farmer save his home.

via Ousted USDA Employee Sherrod Plans to Sue Blogger – ABC News.

So it begins; the take down of a smear artist, who poses as a Conservative. Quite bluntly, I hope she nails him for millions. Andrew Breitbart, in this writers opinion, is nothing more than a two-bit smear merchant, who knowingly did this to cause harm to this woman. He gets what is coming to him. Yes, I know that Shirley Sherrod is a socialist and a liberal, that is not the point here. The point is, that this man knowingly tried to smear this woman, to make a political point. For this, he should be required to pay.

Countdown to Andrew Breitbart and his supporters playing the Semite card and claiming this is some sort of persecution towards a Jewish man, who is simply trying to help America or something equally as stupid. — in 5…..4….3….2…

Hodak, a native Detroiter, began his broadcasting career as a newscaster at WDET-FM at Wayne State University. He went on to report for WDBO-TV in Orlando, Florida and covered many of the early space launches from Cape Canaveral for the CBS radio and television networks.

He returned to Detroit in 1965 as a weathercaster for WJBK-TV. In 1977, he joined the WXYZ-TV family as a weathercaster and Science Editor. He currently appears on Action News at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.

“Jerry Hodak is synonymous with weather in Detroit and we will certainly miss his calming style, smooth approach and delivery,” said WXYZ-TV Vice-President and General Manager Ed Fernandez. “We in the WXYZ family are grateful for his years of service and dedication to WXYZ, the broadcast industry, and the viewers of Detroit. Jerry is a true professional who will be sorely missed for his gracious nature and his gentlemanly style inside the halls of Broadcast House. We wish him all the best as he makes this important decision for his life and begins to enjoy more time with his family and friends.”

I have been watching this man since I was a kid still living on the southwest side of Detroit. Jerry is the best. I could go on and on about his intelligence, his even-handed cool delivery and so on. He is one the best at what he does and I believe that Detroit, Michigan will be a poorer place because of it. However, Jerry knows when it is time to retire and let the new talent take over. Jerry is a part of what I like call the “Golden Age” at WXYZ-TV in the 1960’s, 1970’s and especially in the 1980’s, when I was watching as a kid.

Jerry Hodak - WXYZ-TV Chief meteorologist - Simply the best!

He will be truly missed. I truly wish Jerry a wonderful retirement. He has more than earned it.

Breaking News: Federal Judge blocks parts of Arizona’s immigration law

Some of you might think that you know what I am going to have to say about this:

PHOENIX – A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the most controversial parts of Arizona’s immigration law from taking effect, delivering a last-minute victory to opponents of the crackdown.

The overall law will still take effect Thursday, but without the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other laws.

The judge also put on hold parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places. In addition, the judge blocked officers from making warrantless arrests of suspected illegal immigrants.

“Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked,” U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton ruled.

I figure you all might think that this is some sort of travesty, right?

Well, surprise!

Before I submit myself to a thrashing in the comments section; Lemmie ‘splain myself a little here, h’okay?

Yes, I know that the Obama Administration is doing a horribly lousy job on illegal immigration, namely on immigration enforcement; just like the Bush Administration was doing a lousy job on immigration enforcement. Towards the end, the Bush Administration finally conducted some ICE raids, mostly because of the bitching that took place here in the Blogosphere and also to a bigger degree on Fox News, and by Lou Dobbs back when he was on CNN.

Alright now, that I got that out of the way. Let me explain my position; as much as I know illegal immigration is a bad thing, in more ways that one. I simply do not support this bill, why? Because of this right here. I believe in the proper role of Government. I believe that Federal Law trumps State law, and the proper role of Government falls to the feds on immigration enforcement. What this law did, was basically overextend the role of the State Government over the Federal Government and Constitutionally, that is a big fat no-no. Not only that; because I am a libertarian-minded person, I believe in the old idea, that was spoken so very well, by the late great President Ronald Reagan. That is that “Big Government is Bad Government…” What I mean is this, when you handle a law enforcement officer the tools to basically harass people based upon skin color, you are asking for trouble. This law assumed that every police officer in Arizona was an honest, upstanding officer of the law. This is a fatal assumption I am afraid.

The point I am trying to make is this, when you expand the size of Government of whatever branch; whether it be Federal, State or local, you are asking for trouble. That is what was the potentiality of this law. There are more saner approaches to enforcement of immigration laws; one is for the feds to their jobs, and not for the States to trump the federal Government.

That is my opinion and I welcome yours.

BREAKING NEWS: Major Oil Spill in Michigan

I usually do not follow the local news in this area. That is why I missed this. My apologies to those who actually read this blog.

It appears that there has been a major oil spill, right here in Michigan.

The latest via the various wires services…

Video from WXYZ-TV in Detroit:

WXYZ-TV Reports:

MARSHALL, Mich. (WXYZ) – Governor Jennifer Granholm is criticizing the company responsible for the massive oil spill in Calhoun County, saying the reaction to the disaster has been anemic. Granholm says Enbridge Energy, based in Houston, has not done enough to stop the flow of oil.

The oil was discovered leaking from a ruptured pipeline in a creek in Marshall. By Tuesday evening the slick had traveled almost 30 miles, creeping closer to Morrow Lake.

The governor declared a state of disaster in Calhoun County and other potentially affected areas to make state resources readily available.

In the path of the oil, animals, including birds and fish. Also homes that have stood for decades are now empty because some residents were forced to leave, but state and local officials say the number of evacuees has been minimal.

All told almost 850,000 gallons – or 19,500 barrels – of oil has spewed from the broken pipeline. The cause for the breach in the 30-inch diameter line is still under investigation, though it has been sealed. State officials say it was last inspected in 2009.

Enbridge Energy’s CEO says his company will be responsible for the damage the slick has caused and will compensate Michigan’s families and businesses. However no commitment has been made about how much the company will spend to repay those affected.

Pictures of the affected area… and believe me, I know right where this is, as I have family in this area:

Kalamazoo Lake

Affected Wildlife

Here is a report via WOOD-TV:

Here is hoping that our state handles this situation better than the United States Government handled the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Hopefully, my family is okay over there. I will be asking to make sure.

Here is a report about the Wildlife that is now suffering because of the blatant incompetence of this oil company:
