Guest Voice: Why the Neo-Cons Love Hillary by Jack Hunter

The Video (via TakiMag)

Transcript: (Via Charleston City Paper)

One item that made breaking news this week shouldn’t have surprised anyone – the possible selection of Hillary Clinton by Barack Obama as Secretary of State. And it’s a possible choice that has excited more than a few Republicans.

Neoconservatives afraid that a President Obama might even partially live up his promise to remove troops from Iraq have been warming up to the new administration and hedging their bets where they can. In his ongoing role as neocon concierge, Sen. Lindsey Graham’s arranged meeting between John McCain and Obama was one step, as was Graham’s blustering praise for Obama’s selection for Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, a man who few conservatives have a kind word about. “This is a wise choice by President-elect Obama” glowingly said Graham of Emanuel.

And one can only assume that if Clinton were to take over for Condoleezza Rice, Graham and his boss John McCain will have the same enthusiasm and for the same reason. Republican Senator John Kyl, who teamed up with Joe Lieberman to get Congress to declare the entire Iranian army a terrorist organization as a precursor to possible war, said of Clinton as possible Sec. of State “It seems to me she’s got the experience. She’s got the temperament for it.” The Weekly Standard’s Michael Goldfarb was just as praiseful and more explicit about his excitement, “On the issues, Clinton’s a hawk. Not only did she vote to authorize the war in Iraq, she… went so far as to connect Saddam to al Qaeda… She threatened to ‘obliterate’ Iran (and) on matters of diplomacy, Clinton’s views are not so different from those held by John McCain and most Republicans. Clinton would be a fine Secretary of State… And perhaps she could even present the case for war with Iran to an insubordinate United Nations.”

Not since Operation Chaos during the primaries have we seen some Republicans so anxious to jump off the “Stop-Hillary Express” and on the Clinton bandwagon. The sort of Republican who cheers for Hillary is the same sort who embraced Lieberman. No matter how many liberal positions either held, socialized healthcare, open borders, higher taxes, anti-2nd amendment, it didn’t matter. As with Lieberman, so long as Hillary is prepared to continue sending U.S. troops around the world to continue the neoconservative mission of American global empire, Clinton would be their gal.

The Atlantic Monthly’s Andrew Sullivan noticed the neocons seeming comfort with Hillary during the presidential primaries “Among the neoconservatives there is obviously sympathy for her (Clinton) against the most decisively anti-war candidates, Obama and Edwards. Many publicly prefer her to the insurgent anti-war candidate in their own ranks, Texas congressman Ron Paul. Privately some neocons see her as an important substantive successor to Bush, perpetuating and retroactively legitimizing the Iraq occupation. She did vote for it, after all, they tell themselves. And her constant attempt to stay to the right of her opponents in the primaries has led to the bizarre spectacle of some well known Republicans showering her with thinly veiled support on Fox News.”

The rise of the neoconservatives to prominence during the Bush administration and the decades old term finally becoming part of the popular lexicon has led many plain, old fashioned conservatives to wonder, “what is it about these ‘neoconservatives’ that is actually conservative?”

Absolutely nothing. Neoconservatism’s main premise, that drastically different cultures in some of the most contentious parts of the world can magically become democratic through sheer force of American will, is arguably the most radical policy ever put forth by any government, anywhere. And conservatives now concerned about “radicals taking over the White House,” need to take a good, hard look at not only the woman Obama might be trusting with foreign affairs, but the Republicans who adore her.

The Far Left comes to its senses about Obama

It seems that the lights have finally come on and the Obama buzz has worn off amongst the far left.

Glenn Greenwald relays the following that was written by Digby, who Blogs at Hullabaloo.

The villagers and the right made it very clear what they required of Obama — bipartisanship, technocratic competence and center-right orthodoxy. Liberals took cultural signifiers as a sign of solidarity and didn’t ask for anything. So, we have the great symbolic victory of the first black president (and that’s not nothing, by the way) who is also a bipartisan, centrist technocrat. Surprise.

There are things to applaud about the cabinet picks — Clinton is a global superstar who, along with Barack himself, signals to the world that the US is no longer being run by incompetent, extremist, political fringe dwellers. Holder seems to be genuinely against torture and hostile to the concept of the imperial presidency. Gaithner is a smart guy who has the trust of the Big Money Boyz, which may end up being useful considering the enormous and risky economic challenges ahead. Emmanuel is someone who is not afraid to wield a knife and if we’re lucky he might just wield it from time to time against a Republican or a right wing Democrat. Napolitano seems to have a deft political touch with difficult issues like immigration which is going to be a battleground at DHS. And on and on.

None of them are liberals, but then Obama said repeatedly that he wasn’t ideological, that he cared about “what works.” I don’t know why people didn’t believe that. He’s a technocrat who wants to “solve problems” and “change politics.”  The first may actually end up producing the kind of ideological shift liberals desire simply because of the dire set of circumstances greeting the new administration. (Hooray for the new depression!) The second was always an empty fantasy — politics is just another word for human nature, and that hasn’t changed since we were dancing around the fire outside our caves.

If you want to press for a cabinet appointment at this late date who might bring some ideological ballast, I would guess that labor and energy are where the action is. It would be really helpful to have somebody from the left in the room when the wonks start dryly parceling out the compromises on the economy and climate change. But basically, we are going to be dealing with an administration whose raison d’etre is to make government “work.” That’s essentially a progressive goal and one that nobody can really argue with. But he never said he would make government “work” for a liberal agenda. Liberals just assumed that.

I could not have said it better myself. I watched as the Left; both moderate and far left, made Obama into a Messiah-like figure, who would right all of America’s wrongs. It was simply a myth. Obama is not superman, nor is he God. He is simply a man. A man who chose to try a make a difference in the political realm. I do not agree with Obama’s Political ideology; but I do admire the guy for deciding to do something to make change, instead of sitting on the sidelines and complaining; which is what a great amount of Americans do.

Another Quote from this that strikes me, as a bit odd, is this:

But Barack Obama is a centrist, establishment politicianThat is what he has been since he’s been in the Senate, and more importantly, it’s what he made clear — both explicitly and through his actions — that he intended to be as President.  Even in the primary, he paid no price whatsoever for that in terms of progressive support.  As is true for the national Democratic Party generally, he has no good reason to believe he needs to accommodate liberal objections to what he is doing.  The Joe Lieberman fiasco should have made that as conclusively clear as it gets.

That is because, that is what gets elected, Americans as a rule; tend to back away from extremists. Cynthia McKinney is a perfect example of that. Obama knew that if he was going to get elected, he had to run his campaign as a centerist and as a moderate Democrat, otherwise he would have lost.

Dept. of Corrections…

Hey, Sister Toldjah. You do mean, “Flag Burning Liberals”, right?

Cause that’s about what them damn hippy liberals are good for. I don’t buy all this stupidity that Liberals love America. That’s Bullshit of the highest order. If they’ve so loved America, they would never elected that floppy-eared fool, that’s going to be our next President.

(Trust me, there’s a ton of other “Not so Christian” or politically incorrect words that I’d like to call him, but it’s Sunday and I’m being cool about it.)

Ugh: James Kirchick pisses in the Netroots Cheerios

Dang! Did someone do something to piss off James Kirchick? Not to get all ghetto on my readers…but, Damn homeboy got an attitude!

Kirchick Writes in the NY Daily News:

Barack Obama isn’t even President yet, and he’s already angering some of his most devoted followers on the party’s left wing. This is the mark of what could be a very successful presidency.

“With its congressional majority, the Democratic Party has refused to seriously try to end the war, to stop the bailout and to stop the trampling of civil liberties, just to name a few off the top of my head,” wrote David Sirota on the popular liberal blog OpenLeft, decrying the serial betrayals of Obama and the congressional Democratic majority. The Democratic Party, he wrote, has “faced no real retribution” for its manifold heresies, something that Sirota believes he and his band of angry bloggers must change. “We better understand why this happened,” he fumed.

Allow me to provide an answer. You don’t matter.

Ouch. That’s harsh. 😮

The week before Tuesday’s meeting, Obama let it be known that he bore “no grudge” against Lieberman. Setting a positive tone so early after a hard-fought election, he is already making good on his promise to, if not end, then at least lessen the “petty partisanship” he decried in the campaign. Among the positive outcomes of this week’s abject lesson in letting bygones be bygones, it is reassuring to see that the leadership of the Democratic Party isn’t as petty, vindictive and small as its left-wing supporters.

Not a good way to win or keep friends, if you ask me. I mean, I’m no Miss Congeniality here, but I don’t go around pissin’ into electric fans either. (Or so to speak…)

Aw Crap!: Group Alleges Racially-Motivated Election Night Attacks by Chicago Police

I expect that we’ll hear more of this as time goes on….

Via Breit Bart: (Dateline WMAQ Chicago)

I just wonder, were the Police Officers that did the beating White or Black? That will answer the racism charge.

However, judging from comments on the WMAQ site, Chicago still got issues when it comes to racism.

Exit Question: Will the ObamaMassiah ask for a congressional Investigation into the mistreatment of his people?

The Obamassiah-Elect outlines his plan to create 2.5 million jobs by 2011

First the video of Bambi-Elect via Breit Bart:

The Story, Via CNN:

President-elect Barack Obama on Saturday offered an outline of his economic recovery plan and jobs were the top priority.

American workers will rebuild the nation’s roads and bridges, modernize its schools and create more sources of alternative energy, creating 2.5 million jobs by 2011, Obama said in the weekly Democratic address, posted on his Web site.

“These aren’t just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis,” he said. “These are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long.”

Details of the plan are still being worked out by his economic team, Obama said, but he hopes to implement the plan shortly after taking office January 20.

He referred to figures out this week showing that new home purchases in October were the lowest in 50 years, and that 540,000 new unemployment claims had been filed — the highest in 16 years.

“We must do more to put people back to work and get our economy moving again,” he said. More than a million jobs have been lost this year, he said, and “if we don’t act swiftly and boldly, most experts now believe that we could lose millions of jobs next year.”

The plan will be aimed at jump-starting job creation, Obama said, and laying the foundation for a stronger economy.

“We’ll put people back to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing schools that are failing our children, and building wind farms and solar panels, fuel-efficient cars and the alternative energy technology that can free us from our dependence on foreign oil and keep our economy competitive in the years head,” he said.

He noted he will need support from both Democrats and Republicans to pass such a plan, and said he welcomes suggestions from both sides of the aisle.

“But what is not negotiable is the need for immediate action,” he said. “Right now, there are millions of mothers and fathers who are lying awake at night wondering if next week’s paycheck will cover next month’s bills.

“There are Americans showing up to work in the morning, only to have cleared out their desks by the afternoon. Retirees are watching their life savings disappear, and students are seeing their college dreams deferred. These Americans need help, and they need it now.”

Throughout history, he said, Americans have been able to rise above their divisions to work together, he said.

“That is the chance our new beginning now offers us, and that is the challenge we must rise to in the days to come,” Obama said. “It is time to act. As the next president of the United States, I will.”

I personally think that we, as the loyal opposition, should take a wait and see approach towards this. It could help America. It might cost America a bit. But to sit and judge it foolishly before it is implemented will only serve to make us look foolish.

So, as someone who’s not had a job since 2005. I will reserve judgement at this time.

Guest Voice: No More White Guilt – By Tom Adkins

Look at my fellow conservatives! There they go, glumly shuffling along, depressed by the election aftermath. Not me. I’m virtually euphoric. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not thrilled with America ‘s flirtation with neo socialism. But there’s a massive silver lining in those magical clouds that lofted Barack Obama to the Presidency. For today, without a shred of intellectually legitimate opposition, I can loudly proclaim to America : The Era of White Guilt is over.

This seemingly impossible event occurred because the vast majority of white Americans didn’t give a fluff about skin color, and enthusiastically pulled the voting lever for a black man. Not just any black man. A very liberal black man who spent his early career race-hustling banks, praying in a racist church for 20 years, and actively worked with America-hating domestic terrorists. Wow! Some resume! Yet they made Barak Obama their leader. Therefore, as of Nov 4th, 2008, white guilt is dead.

For over a century, the millstone of white guilt hung around our necks, retribution for slave-owning predecessors. In the 60s, American liberals began yanking that millstone while sticking a fork in the eye of black Americans, exacerbating the racial divide to extort a socialist solution. But if a black man can become President, exactly what significant barrier is left? The election of Barack Obama absolutely destroys the entire validation of liberal white guilt. The dragon is hereby slain.

So today, I’m feeling a little “uppity,” if you will. From this day forward, my tolerance level for having my skin color hustled is now exactly ZERO. And it’s time to clean house. No more Reverend Wright’s “God Damn America ,” Al Sharpton’s Church of Perpetual Victimization , or Jesse Jackson’s rainbow racism. Cornell West? You’re a fraud. Go home. All those “black studies” programs that taught kids to hate whitey? You must now thank Whitey. And I want
that on the final.

Congressional Black Caucus? Irrelevant. Maxine Waters? Shut up. ACORN? Outlawed. Black Panthers? Go home and pet your kitty. Black separatists? Find another nation that offers better dreams. Go ahead. I’m waiting.

Gangsta rappers? Start praising America . Begin with the Pledge of Allegiance. And please…no more ebonics. Speak English, and who knows where you might end up? Oh, yeah…pull up your pants. Your underwear is showing. You look stupid.

To those Eurosnots who forged entire careers hating America ? I’m still waiting for the first black French President.

And let me offer an equal opportunity whupping. I’ve always despised lazy white people. Now, I can talk smack about lazy black people. You’re poor because you quit school, did drugs, had three kids with three different fathers, and refuse to work. So when you plop your Colt 45-swilling, Oprah watchin’ butt on the couch and complain “Da Man is keepin’ me down,” allow me to inform you: Da Man is now black. You have no excuses.

No more quotas. No more handouts. No more stealing my money because someone’s great-great-great-great grandparents suffered actual pain and misery at the hands of people I have no relation to, and personally revile.

It’s time to toss that massive, obsolete race-hustle machine upon the heap of the other stupid 60s ideas. Drag it over there, by wife swapping, next to dope-smoking. Plenty of room right between free love and cop-killing. Careful…don’t trip on streaking. There ya go, don’t be gentle. Just dump it. Wash your hands. It’s filthy.

In fact, Obama’s ascension created a gargantuan irony. How can you sell class envy and American unfairness when you and your black wife went to Ivy League schools, got high-paying jobs, became millionaires, bought a mansion, and got elected President? How unfair is that??? Now, Like a delicious O’Henry tale, Obama’s spread-the-wealth campaign rendered itself moot by it’s own victory! America is officially a meritocracy. Obama’s election has validated American conservatism!

So, listen carefully…Wham!!!

That’s the sound of my foot kicking the door shut on the era of white guilt. The rites have been muttered, the carcass lowered, dirt shoveled, and tombstone erected. White guilt is dead and buried.

However, despite my glee, there’s apparently one small, rabid bastion of American racism remaining. Black Americans voted 96% for Barack Obama. Hmmm. In a color-blind world, shouldn’t that be 50-50? Tonight, every black person should ask forgiveness for their apparent racism and prejudice towards white people. Maybe it’s time to start spreading the guilt around.

Guest Voice: Too Much Denial Going On Around Here By By: J.J. Jackson

Too Much Denial Going On Around Here

By: J.J. Jackson

Dear God in Heaven above!  There is so much denial going on right now among Conservatives that I feel like I have just arrived at an AA meeting where there are bunch of first timers, who have been dragged there by their friends and family, and are shouting about how they, “don’t have a problem.”  I have just gotten about as sick of this as I can take and am ready to start slapping you denial riddled fools upside your empty little heads.  So here is my hand and here comes the slap that you all so rightfully deserve.

For nearly the past three weeks I have been hearing conservatives softening their tones on Barack Obama after he beat John McCain and his moderate ramblings on November 4th.  And if it did not sink in when I said in the last paragraph that I am sick of it, then let me reiterate it again.  I am damn sick of it.

You little pansies, and you know who you are, who are talking about giving Barack Obama a honeymoon and talking about waiting to see what he actually does really do make me sick.  You make me sick because a lot of you were the same people who were unloading on him and his Marxist ideology (clearly able to be seen by anyone reading what he has written and listening to anything he has said) for months prior to the election.  He deserved that barrage from the big guns then and he deserves the same firepower, if not more, pointed and unleashed upon him now that he has won. The man does not deserve any sort of a “honeymoon.”  There is no, “wait and see what he will do,” reasoning that is valid.  We know what he wants to do.  He has said it time and time again.  The only question is will he be allowed to do it.

But a lot of you namby-pambies, who try desperately to put forth your conservative, pro-liberty credentials, are denying everything that the man has said and done within his life and his campaign. You are hoping, beyond hope if you ask me, that he will all of a sudden change his stripes and not go full auto Marxist on our butts.  My God, what has happened to you cowards?

I would love to think that you are maybe just scared of saying something that Barack Obama or his “truth squads” might find objectionable and that you are moderating your tones out of fear.  We all know that history is replete with examples of how people with Obama’s ideas deal with their political opponents.  I cannot believe that you actually however believe that things will be different than what he promised when he was on the campaign trail.

Maybe he will be more moderate on taxes?  He will not be if you keep making excuses for him instead of preaching economic reality!

Maybe he will be more reasonable in fighting the war on terror?  If you start giving him a honeymoon and believing that now, all of a sudden, he will see how serious terrorism is, he will not be.

Maybe he will be a little more considerate of the first amendment? Yeah, I see that happening if you start making excuses and take a wait and see attitude!

Maybe he will not rush headlong into trampling on the second amendment? Ok, sure … you believe this despite all his anti-gun, anti-self defense remarks during his life and on the campaign trail why?

Oh, I know what your excuse is because you keep saying it.  You keep saying that now, because he is actually going to be sitting in the oval office and (you assume) held accountable for his actions, he will recognize the reality of the myriad of situations which will confront him and that he will have to act in more moderate ways because his is “smart”.  Yeah, “smart” … that’s what they call spouting Marxist talking points and promoting an ideology that has failed time and again from Mussolini’s Italy to Hitler’s Germany to Stalin’s Russia to Khrushchev’s Soviet Union to Mao’s China to Kim Jong Il’s North Korea to Castro’s Cuba to Chavez’s Venezuela?  Not to mention how it is currently failing in the plethora of European states that continue to struggle under chronically high unemployment rates and legacy costs for the “free” healthcare and welfare of Marxism light and the entitlement mentality.

You want him to change his stance on anything he believes?  You have to unload on him and keep hitting him with the truth.  No honeymoons.  No grace periods.

If I hear one more conservative or so-called capitalist (most of whom I believe are corporatists, in that they are capitalists looking to game the socialist system for their own ends, and not true capitalists) claiming that Obama is “smart,” despite my previous points about his promotion of an idiotic ideology that has always and will always fail, I may have to move from slapping them silly to putting a boot up in where the sun does not shine.  It is a ridiculous notion that you folks espouse.

“Smart” people do not rush headlong down a road that leads off a cliff.  I do not care how many degrees and letters they have after their names.  As we all know the halls of academia are littered with the corpses of people that have such honors behind their names and could not think their way out of a paper bag.  But they can certainly pontificate on the way things, “ought to be,” in their minds and muse and whine about why things are not that way.

It is time to stop denying who Barack Obama is, and always has been, and admit that he has given no reason to “hope” that he will be anything other than the man he has shown us to be.  It is time to admit that in order to “change” him (and the course this country has been on for the previous century regardless of what liberals believe) that he must be ridden and ridden hard.  He must be constantly smacked upside the head with the facts and not allowed to get by on good looks, charm and lofty, vacuous rhetoric.  He must not be given a free pass.  He must not be given a honeymoon.  And most importantly he should not be given any more credit than he is due.

Right now, his credit is zero.  So get up and stop being a bunch of wishful hopers like the mindless Obamatons that voted for him are.  And stop feeling, as they do, that by merely having “hope” that our troubles will be washed away and get your butts to work.

The Obligatory Hillary Accepts Secretary of State Posting

I figured she would…. anyhow, Because everyone and their uncle’s brother is talking about it. I guess I’ll follow the herd here. (Walk like a buffalo…..80’s humor, sorry… 😛 )

Via the NYT’s “The Caucus”:

Hillary Rodham Clinton has decided to give up her Senate seat and accept the position of secretary of state, making her the public face around the world for the administration of the man who beat her for the Democratic presidential nomination, two confidants said Friday.

Mrs. Clinton came to her decision after additional discussion with President-elect Barack Obama about the nature of her role and his plans for foreign policy, said one of the confidants, who insisted on anonymity to discuss the situation. Mr. Obama’s office told reporters Thursday that the nomination is “on track” but Clinton associates only confirmed Friday afternoon that she has decided.

“She’s ready,” said the confidant. Mrs. Clinton was reassured after talking again with Mr. Obama because their first meeting in Chicago last week “was so general,” the confidant said. The purpose of the follow-up talk, he added, was not to extract particular concessions but “just getting comfortable” with the idea of working together.

A second Clinton associate confirmed that her camp believes they have a done deal. Senior Obama advisers said Friday morning that the offer had not been formally accepted and no announcement will be made until after Thanksgiving. But they said they were convinced that the nascent alliance was now ready to be sealed.

Mrs. Clinton’s spokesman, Philippe Reines, issued a statement Friday afternoon cautioning that the nomination is not final. “We’re still in discussions, which are very much on track,” he said. “Any reports beyond that are premature.”

I can almost hear the Republicans screaming “RETREAD!” now. Which is pretty funny considering that Reagan used Nixon and Ford retreads.

The victims of the Waco Massacre, which included Seventy-six U.S. Citizens including 21 children and two pregnant women; were unavailable for comment.

Liberals Whining about Gas Prices….Coming Down?!?!?!

(H/T Jeff G.)

Obama and the Liberal idiots are now flipping out of the sudden drop in gas prices! This according the Wall Street Journal:

Some government officials and environmentalists are worried the plummeting prices are reversing any energy-conservation gains realized in the past year, when high prices forced Americans to cut back. The economic case for investing in renewable energy, which was looking cheaper, compared with soaring fossil-fuel costs, now is less compelling.

Suddenly, public debate has shifted from trying to find ways to lower prices and give consumers a break to wondering whether federal gasoline taxes should be raised to support higher prices.

President-elect Barack Obama said this week it is even more important to curb Americans’ appetite for oil now that prices are cheaper. “Oil prices go up, gas prices at the pump go up, everybody goes into a flurry of activity. And then the prices go back down and suddenly we act like it’s not important,” he said during a television interview. “As a consequence, we never make any progress.”

🙄 First they bitch and gripe and say, “Aaaah! We have to get these prices lower!” and when they come down, They scream, “Aaaaah! We have to tax the gas so we’ll make a profit or tax it to death so people won’t buy it!” Tax it to support higher prices? Holy Moses… I hope that this story does not catch on with the rest of the media, or Obama might just find himself with some very upset supporters.

Liberalism is such a mental disorder.

An Eye Opening C.I.A. Report

An interesting article via Reason Hit & Run about a plane shot down by the Peruvian Air Force. Which had missionaries in it from Michigan.

The quote from this Blog entry that very much I agree with is this: (emphasis mine)

Collateral damage—and let’s face it, that’s how the CIA and federal drug warriors view Veronica and Charity Bowershas always been an accepted part of drug prohibition, but this callous disregard for the loss of life and human rights seems particularly egregious in our foreign interdiction efforts.  See the House of Death case, where federal agents looked the other way while one of their Mexican informants participated in a series of brutal and entirely preventable murders.  See our pre-September 11 anti-narcotics alliance with the Taliban, or our continued drug interdiction aid to Thailand after the government mass executed thousands of suspected drug offenders, sans trial.

Collateral damage. That is how the Government viewed the victims at Waco, Ruby Ridge, The FLDS Children, and every other place that the United States Government; whether directly or indirectly; caused death and/or Destruction. All because some sort of supposed moral law could be upheld.

What this writer has to wonder aloud, how long will it be, before this new messianic President-Elect, will make the fatal mistake of using the Military power of the United States against an United States Citizen, all to uphold a so called, “Moral Law?” If Bill Clinton’s Presidency is any indication, it will be sooner than later.

The Far Right Cries About Retreads.

Man, I do not know just how much stupidity I can handle in one day… I mean really.

The bleary-eyed blond, Carol Platt Liebau over at Townhall.com yowls on her Blog:

This AP piece just points out what should be obvious to everyone by now — that Barack “Change you can believe in” Obama has been filling the top ranks of his administration with Clinton era and/or beltway insiders.

What should, of course, be obvious is that such a move is probably necessary for a relative novice like President-elect Obama.  If he chose to surround himself with people who are as lacking in national experience as he is, the results would resemble . . . well, the Carter administration.

Obama is a true ideological believer when it comes to the ends he wants to pursue, but he’s a hard core pragmatist about the means for achieving them.  If a certain frisson of excitement is lost among his liberal base when they learn that the West Wing will be filled with a bunch of retreads, no doubt he figures that’s a trade-off everyone will be willing to make, so long as the results are worth it.  And make no mistake — he’s committed to making sure the results are worth it, at least for those on the left.

Uhm, Carol ever read any history books? Did not Reagan use Gerald Ford and Nixon Administration retreads in his Administration? Admittedly, he did have a few select Reagan-ites in doing his bidding, but the good majority of them were, in fact, Nixon and Ford Retreads. This was because Reagan did not have much experience and wanted people around him, who knew the beltway and could get things done. Sort of like, well, Obama.

Seriously, do these idiot Neo-Cons ever crack a book, before they spout? 🙄

The Big Three’s Hidden Agenda??

I think everyone who is worried about thier jobs and what’s happening with the big three need to read this Blog posting.

I have never been so angry at my Government and at Washington D.C. as I am, right now. Go read the posting and you’ll see why. 😡

Quote of the Day

It’s hard to know whether it was the real John McCain who lost or whether the person Barack Obama defeated was a fake, created to motivate the narrow slice of the electorate mistakenly thought to be the Republican “base” (see Palin, “country first”, Joe the Plumber).

Obama might have won in any case, but the McCain campaign was an amateur affair, unable to settle on a consistent presentation of the candidate’s message or identity. At times (e.g., the proposal to cancel a debate, put the campaign on hold, and race theatrically back to Washington), he appeared foolish.

McCain started the campaign as an admired and independent-minded combination of war hero and experienced legislator, weighed down by the unpopularity of his party and the president. By the time the campaign was over, it was not George Bush but McCain himself who had been rejected.

A Picture of our Economy

A Picture of our Economy

A Picture of our Economy

(H/T to ParaPundit)

New York Times has the story:

But the inventory glut in Long Beach is not limited to imported cars. There has also been a sharp drop in demand for the port’s single largest export: recycled cardboard and paper products.

This material typically goes to China, where it is used to make boxes for new electronics and other products that are sent back to the United States. But Chinese factories reacting to sharply falling demand are slowing production, so they need less cardboard. Tons of paper are piling up recycling businesses around the port, the detritus of economies on hold.

Long Beach is an important port, particularly for the West. It is where imported products arrive and filter through the tributary of trucks, trains and retailers into the hands of consumers. But now, products are just sitting.

“We’re supposed to move things, not store them,” Mr. Wong said.

Roughly 20 percent of the nation’s container imports last year came through Long Beach, putting it close behind the largest container port, Los Angeles. This year, shipping volume at Long Beach is down 10 percent from 2007, and nearly all major ports around the country have seen similar declines. Veteran port workers say the slowdown since mid-October is like nothing they have ever seen. And it is having a cascading impact on other businesses and workers. – Read the rest

Memo to Kathleen Parker: Please, Find something to do!

I am really unsure what this feckless woman’s problem is, but she really needs to find something else to do. Like maybe get a real job? Instead of sitting behind a keyboard and trashing everything that does not meet her quite flawed ideas, as to what the Republican Party really is about.

This little feckless wretch publishes in her latest the following:

As Republicans sort out the reasons for their defeat, they likely will overlook or dismiss the gorilla in the pulpit.

Three little letters, great big problem: G-O-D.

I’m bathing in holy water as I type.

To be more specific, the evangelical, right-wing, oogedy-boogedy branch of the GOP is what ails the erstwhile conservative party and will continue to afflict and marginalize its constituents if reckoning doesn’t soon cometh.

Simply put: Armband religion is killing the Republican Party. And, the truth — as long as we’re setting ourselves free — is that if one were to eavesdrop on private conversations among the party intelligentsia, one would hear precisely that.

The choir has become absurdly off-key, and many Republicans know it.

But they need those votes!

So it has been for the Grand Old Party since the 1980s or so, as it has become increasingly beholden to an element that used to be relegated to wooden crates on street corners.

Short break as writer ties blindfold and smokes her last cigarette.

Which is to say, the GOP has surrendered its high ground to its lowest brows. In the process, the party has alienated its non-base constituents, including other people of faith (those who prefer a more private approach to worship), as well as secularists and conservative-leaning Democrats who otherwise might be tempted to cross the aisle.

Here’s the deal, ‘pubbies: Howard Dean was right.

It isn’t that culture doesn’t matter. It does. But preaching to the choir produces no converts. And shifting demographics suggest that the Republican Party — and conservatism with it — eventually will die out unless religion is returned to the privacy of one’s heart where it belongs.

Religious conservatives become defensive at any suggestion that they’ve had something to do with the GOP’s erosion. And, though the recent Democratic sweep can be attributed in large part to a referendum on Bush and the failing economy, three long-term trends identified by Emory University’s Alan Abramowitz have been devastating to the Republican Party: increasing racial diversity, declining marriage rates and changes in religious beliefs.

Suffice it to say, the Republican Party is largely comprised of white, married Christians. Anyone watching the two conventions last summer can’t have missed the stark differences: One party was brimming with energy, youth and diversity; the other felt like an annual Depends sales meeting.

With the exception of Miss Alaska, of course.

Even Sarah Palin has blamed Bush policies for the GOP loss. She’s not entirely wrong, but she’s also part of the problem. Her recent conjecture about whether to run for president in 2012 (does anyone really doubt she will?) speaks for itself:

“I’m like, okay, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I’m like, don’t let me miss the open door. Show me where the open door is…. And if there is an open door in (20)12 or four years later, and if it’s something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I’ll plow through that door.”

Let’s do pray that God shows Alaska’s governor the door.

Meanwhile, it isn’t necessary to evict the Creator from the public square, surrender Judeo-Christian values or diminish the value of faith in America. Belief in something greater than oneself has much to recommend it, including most of the world’s architectural treasures, our universities and even our founding documents.

But, like it or not, we are a diverse nation, no longer predominantly white and Christian. The change Barack Obama promised has already occurred, which is why he won.

Among Jewish voters, 78 percent went for Obama. Sixty-six percent of under-30 voters did likewise. Forty-five percent of voters ages 18-29 are Democrats compared to just 26 percent Republican; in 2000, party affiliation was split almost evenly.

The young will get older, of course. Most eventually will marry, and some will become their parents. But nonwhites won’t get whiter. And the nonreligious won’t get religion through external conversion. It doesn’t work that way.

Given those facts, the future of the GOP looks dim and dimmer if it stays the present course. Either the Republican Party needs a new base — or the nation may need a new party.

Yeah, I published it all here, because I want to show just how ignorant this woman really is. This is coming from someone who is a advocate of Separation of Church and State! Okay, as much as I feel that the Church should not be meddling in the affairs of the State and such; I also know where the term Conservative originates and I also know where those Conservative values originate from, that would be the Holy Bible, which is the cornerstone of Christianity and the values it represents.

What Kathleen Parker is suggesting here is nothing less then Political treason, making the Republican Party into a Atheistic Party or in other words — Liberal-Lite or Democrat-Lite.  To do this to the Republican Party would be like taking a hacksaw to someones leg, and that person being awake to watch it! It would be a disaster; not to mention painful for that person! 😛  What the hell good are Conservative Values, if you do not have the very reason for those values active within the Party? Telling the Christian Community that their services are no longer needed, would be a death sentence for the Republican Party. Senator Barry Goldwater Sr.; As much as I respected him for his stance on that unconstitutional civil rights bill; tried to kick the Conservative Christians to the curb, during his run for President in 1964, you see what that got him, don’t you? It him sent back to the Senate!  This is why Ronald Reagan won way back there in 1980, because he saw what Barry Goldwater did, and purposed that he would not try and alienate any one part of the Conservative Movement. I have to give Reagan credit, it worked quite well.

I’ve told the story here on this blog many times, it was relayed by Goldwater’s niece, Cee Cee; Some reporter asked Goldwater what Jerry Falwell and his “moral majority” could for him. Goldwater replied, “I don’t know; but I know what I’d like to do to him.” The Reported asked what that was, and Goldwater replied in some quite explicit terms, “I’d like to put my foot up his behind!”; of course, I deleted some rather nastier words and substituted a few! However, I think you get my point! In other words, he wanted to keep the Conservative Christians at bay and in the World of Conservative Politics you just cannot do that. Especially in THIS day and age of Democrats trying to target everyone!

Many people keep wondering, “Why did Obama win?” Well, I will tell you, for the one hundredth time why he won. Barack Obama, when he first started, was running as a Liberal Democrat, he was doing the talking points of the far left. That all lasted until the primaries started and the Media started paying attention, he stuck with the hard left stuff until the Media REALLY started paying attention. That was when Obama’s campaign people said, “Okay you’ve got America’s attention, now it’s time to start talking to the REST of America!” That was when he started all the Hope and Change business….. and it you know what? It worked. Obama came off to the Reagan Democrats and the White middle class Independent average Joe voter as a sane, reasoned alternative to the fear-mongering and “supposed” racism of the far right. It had zero to do with John McCain, it had to do with the dummies running his campaign.

Because of THAT, we now have a Democratic Party President.

Mrs. “Terrorist Fist Jab” E.D. Hill gets the ol’ Heave Ho!

I must confess, I will not shed a tear over this, at all. Sorry, She knew what she was saying and truth is, she most likely wrote it.

Via TVNewser:

TVNewser has learned veteran Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill will not be renewed when her current contract expires. Hill, who has been with Fox News for more than 10 years, will continue with the network for the next few months until her current deal expires.

SVP of Programming Bill Shine tells TVNewser that he “chose not to renew E.D.’s latest contract” but noted that “Hill has been a valued contributor to the success of FNC over the years, and we wish her all the best.”

Hill has been without a regular Fox News program since June 16, when America’s Pulse was replaced by two hours of Live Desk. Ten days earlier Hill used the term terrorist fist jab when promoting an upcoming body language segment that was going to look into the primary night fist bump shared by Barack and Michelle Obama.

For most of her nearly 11 years at FNC Hill anchored Fox & Friends. In 2006 she moved to a late morning program then to the afternoons where, in the months leading up to the election, she’d been filling in on America’s Election HQ.

I think this was possibly the smartest move Fox News has ever made. E.D. Hill’s career is most likely over, unless she moves to a small market somewhere. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe in freedom of speech, but there comes a responsibility with that freedom. I mean, it is one thing to make a snark filled comment on a blog, like this one here. But get on a National Network and parrot the mindless ramblings of the far, far, right on National Television, that is just totally inexcusable.

There are some who would say that she was tossed “Under the Bus”, as they put it. Perhaps she was; after all, she is not Bill O’Reilly nor Sean Hannity. She was just your typical teleprompter reading news anchor woman. Good looking, able to read, but short on intelligence and supposedly on opinion. She was not paid to express opinion. However, she choose to express her inner Redneck and she quickly became a liability for Fox News.

I say good on Fox News for making this decision. Hopefully, they will continue this sort of a policy and will hopefully apply it to some of the more “Higher Up” folk around that Network.

President-Elect Obama, you need to do something about this….

(Thanks to Captain Ed, of which I have no quarrel with, at least not yet, for this story)

Let me simply preface this entry by saying the following. Yes, I am a Christian, I do not consider myself a protestant Christian. I am, in fact, an Independent Baptist. We Independent Baptists reject the notion that we are a part of the Protestant reformation, as most of the Denominations from that reformation still hold to much of the formal doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church.

Further more, I reject the notion that the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church are even remotely Christian, or the notion that Roman Catholics are even remotely Christians. Any denomination that teaches that Salvation comes by Works, by the Church and by Christ is NOT a Christian Church, nor are it’s doctrines even remotely Christian. Salvation comes by Christ Alone, and NOT by a Church or by any Works.  That is not hate, that is Bible.

Having said all that, I bring an article of where a so-called “priest” is trying to break the laws of Separation of Church and State and is getting the support of the local Catholic “Big-wigs” in the area. The State has more:

A Greenville priest who told parishioners those who cast ballots for President-elect Barack Obama risk placing themselves “outside of the full communion of Christ’s church” is simply enunciating church teaching and has the full support of the Diocese of Charleston, a spokesman said Thursday.

The provocative letter from the Rev. Jay Scott Newman to members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church has sparked some controversy and yet another conversation about faith and public policy.

“Voting for a pro-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exists constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil,” Newman said in the letter posted on the Greenville church’s Web site, www.stmarysgvl.org, “and those Catholics who do so place themselves outside of the full communion of Christ’s Church and under the judgment of divine law.”

Newman said that those who did not choose the anti-abortion candidate, in this case U.S. Sen. John McCain, “should not receive Holy Communion until and unless they are reconciled to God in the Sacrament of Penance, lest they eat and drink their own condemnation.”

Calling Obama “the most radical pro-abortion politician ever to serve in the United States Senate,” Newman went on to say Catholics must pray for the newly elected chief executive.

“Let us hope and pray that the responsibilities of the presidency and the grace of God will awaken in the conscience of this extraordinarily gifted man an awareness that the unholy slaughter of children in this nation is the greatest threat to the peace and security of the United States and constitutes a clear and present danger to the common good,” Newman said in the letter.

St. Mary’s was established in 1852 and is considered the mother church for Upstate Roman Catholics. The church has 7,500 members and operates a parish school for 300 students.

While Newman has been the most outspoken of South Carolina priests in the wake of the election, the administrator of the diocese of Charleston, Msgr. Martin T. Laughlin, supports him fully, said diocese spokesman Steve Gajdosik.

“I think it’s fair to say that Father Newman’s letter echoes the sentiments of Father Laughlin,” he said.

In October, Laughlin wrote a letter on faith and citizenship to the state’s Roman Catholics that urged the faithful to be “moral voters.”

“It was more of a positive exhortation to do good, to do the right thing,” Gajdosik said.

In the 2004 election, a controversy erupted when some Roman Catholic bishops suggested Democratic presidential contender John Kerry should be denied Communion because his public votes went against church teachings.

If Newman’s letter is an indication, that struggle over public policy and faith will go on. Many Roman Catholics supported Obama and did not believe their vote was in conflict with their faith.

“Personally, I think it is valuable to have this discussion in the secular media because, many times, many Catholics don’t go to Mass, and so they come at this issue from a secular viewpoint,” Gadjosik said.

“I think to Father Newman’s credit, he isn’t afraid to tackle tough issues. And sometimes there is a lot of pressure to conform and just be nice and go along.”

Sister Mary Ann Walsh, spokeswoman for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said she had not heard of other churches taking this position in reaction to Obama’s win. A Boston-based group that supports Catholic Democrats questioned the move, saying it was too extreme.

“Father Newman is off-base,” said Steve Krueger, national director of Catholic Democrats. “He is acting beyond the authority of a parish priest to say what he did. … Unfortunately, he is doing so in a manner that will be of great cost to those parishioners who did vote for Senators Obama and Biden. There will be a spiritual cost to them for his words.”

Let me remind my readers that the Roman Catholic Church has a clear track record of persecuting those who did not agree with their Biblically corrupt doctrines. In the 1230’s a group of Christians, who rejected the Doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church were persecuted, that would be a group, that we Baptists can trace our linage to; the Waldensians. Another group of Christians, who were friends with this group, The Albigenses, were brutally slaughtered and their property stolen, by the Roman Catholic Church; all because they refused to accept the fact that the Roman Catholic Church was the “true” Church; this happened in the 1300’s.

President-Elect Obama, this is nothing more than a full bore violation of the concept of the Separation of Church and State. Further more, it is nothing more than outright voter intimation. There is but one way to stop this sort of meddling in the electoral process, and that is to demand a retraction of this so-called “Priests” statement to his Church. If that so-called “Priest” does not retract his statement; then as President of the United States of America, you, President-Elect Obama should, by an executive order, should remove the Tax-Exempt Status of the ENTIRE Roman Catholic Church in the United States of America. Do so on the basis that the Roman Catholic Church has not only violated the separation of Church and State, but has also used the Roman Catholic Church’s doctrines to commit voter intimidation.

There are a couple of books that I highly recommend that people read, especially Catholics, who want to the truth about that so-called Church and it’s bloody history. Here are those books:

Now, I realize that I might lose a reader or two, because I wrote this, but if that is the price that I must pay to present the truth to the people that read this blog, then it is one that I will take. I realize also, that Ed or someone over at HotAir.com will most likely yank this trackback. I’ve always said Republicans were, in fact, fascists. But that’s the price one must be for being a true Bible-Believer, I suppose, such as life, I guess.

We as Americans and as Christians need to guard against Religious persecution from any sort of Christian Domination. That is why the pilgrims fled Great Britain, because the Church of England’s meddling in the affairs of the Government. We should not stand for it here in America.

Guest Voice: Welcome To Obamaburger. May I Take Your Money

Welcome To Obamaburger.  May I Take Your Money?
By: J.J. Jackson

Behind the counter is an Obamaburger employee busily filing her fingernails and who barely looks up as a young man approaches her, bypassing a longer line at another register which does not seem to be moving. “Welcome to Obamaburger.  May I take your money?” she asks listlessly.

The perplexed customer responds, “Don’t you mean take my order?”

Her response, without so much as a look is, “Sir, you’re holding up the line.  Don’t make me call security.”

The customer, looks behind him and notices that he is the only one in this particular line but not wanting to cause a fuss replies hastily, “Geez, ok.  Uh … let’s see.  I will have –”

“Sir, I need your Social Security Number first.”

“Excuse me?” the customer asks.

“Your Social Security Number sir.  You’re holding up the line again.”

“What line?”  Now, very confused the customer asks again, “What do you need my Social Security Number for?”

Finally looking up from her “work” the employee gets very testy at the delay and the line of questioning.  “That’s it, I’m calling security –”

“What? No …” scared at what is going on the customer finally concedes to her demands, “Alright my number is 123-45-6789.”

Sighing at the thought of having to finally do something productive, the lady behind the counter starts punching numbers into her register, “One moment while I pull up your tax return for last year.”

“My tax return?  What the hell are you doing?”

President-Elect Obama chooses another Clinton-era lawyer for White House Counsel

What is this new administration going to be, Clinton 2.0?

According to Politico, it appears so:

Gregory B. Craig, a well-known Washington lawyer who quarterbacked President Bill Clinton’s impeachment defense, has been chosen White House counsel by President-elect Obama, according to Democratic officials.

Craig is intimately familiar with the president-elect’s record because he played the role of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in debate preparations.

The officials said Obama has settled on Craig, but were not sure when it would be announced.

The choice gives the president-elect both experience and loyalty. During the primaries, Craig was an early Clinton alumni defector to Obama. Columnist Robert D. Novak reported back in the winter of 2007 that Craig had told him he “was impressed with Obama when he first met him at the home of investment banker Vernon Jordan, an intimate friend and supporter of the Clintons.”

Craig was an Obama foreign policy adviser during the campaign. At the start of the Clinton administration, he had been the State Department’s Director of Policy Planning, the head of State’s in-house think tank. He also was senior adviser on defense, foreign policy and national security to Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).

So much for all that Hope and Change and new Government. Sounds more like an old and quite familiar Government to me. Between this and the Lobbyists that Obama is bringing in to run his Administration, it just looks like the Clinton era all over again.

Captain Ed at HotAir.com observes the following:

There is nothing inherently wrong with lobbying.  There is plenty wrong with hypocrisy, especially on the grand scale committed by Barack Obama during this campaign.  He regularly indulged in the populist demonization of lobbyists and claimed to lead a new movement to purify Washington of their eeeeevil influences.  Now that he has the power, Obama has no problem working with lobbyists for fraudulently run mortgage giants and drug makers, smear artists, and asbestos-lawsuit defenders.

That’s change that 63 million suckers believed in.

Couldn’t have said it better myself! 😀

This is why I voted my principles and not with my emotions. I would be willing to bet there’s a bunch of Conservatives and Libertarians who are feeling mighty stupid right now. Glad I was not one of them. 🙂

Lew Rockwell jumps the shark

I am generally not a critic of those who agree with me on politics, much less conservatism. But every once and while something gets posted somewhere, and me being the opinionated person that I am, I just cannot let it get past me.

I happened to be looking at my RSS feeds and I happened to see a posting by Lew himself, and alarm bells starting going off. Yes, it was that bad.

Before I get into this, let me just say that I harbor no malice towards Lew and his friends at his Blog and website, in fact, there is a good deal of stuff that he and his crew, write over on his blog and website, that I agree with, but this one here just jumped the shark, badly.

From Lew’s Blog:

bush-obama-s

Okay, here’s what is wrong with that up there. To infer that George W. Bush’s Administration and the Administration of President-Elect Barack Obama will be exactly the same, as much as I hate to say this about Mr. Rockwell; is just beyond crazy.  Because we are talking about two totally different people; politically, ideologically and personally. I regret to say this, but for all of George W. Bush’s faults; the war, the scandals, everything —  I have a real hard time sitting here and believing that he was an Imperialist, yes, he did have a very flawed vision of what he wished to accomplish in the middle east. Yes, he did take some advice from the likes of John and Neil Podhoretz. Yes, it was advice that ended up doing the President more harm that it did good in the end, politically.  But to infer that he was a blind imperialist, is borderline Alex Jones sounding.

Believe me when I say this, I am about as a non-Bush fan as it comes, but I just cannot buy into the whole idea that Bush is some sort of Imperialist, being driven by some evil machine. Nor can I, with my normal functioning brain, sit here and believe that Barack Obama will do the exact same things as Bush. I just cannot do that. Because Barack Obama and the Democrats follow a totally different Political ideology than the Republicans. Now before anyone screams about the bailouts, I am fully aware of how Bush basically tossed fiscal Conservatism under the bus. I was not very happy about that. I also noticed that the bailout plan that he signed unto, has failed. But the truth is, he was forced into that, because he was told by the “so-called” experts, that it would work. Now it seems that the “experts” were wrong.

What I am basically trying to get at here is this. If the old school Conservatives or Paleo-Conservatives, and the Libertarians want to be taken serious by the rest of the Conservative movement and the Republican Party as a whole, they need to seriously look into stopping with the Alex Jones material and stick with policy and reality. Because not everyone buys into some of the sillier nonsense that I have seen within them circles. Not only this, but they need to really get away from the abject racism that I have, in fact, seen posted on some of their Blogs.

Update April 1, 2011: Boy was I ever wrong here! 😯 My apologies to Lew Rockwell. My feelings on race remain unabated. Please, See here. Thanks.

Memo to the G.O.P….. Please, Please, Please…. elect this man as your party chairman!

If the G.O.P. passes this man up, it will be the BIGGEST mistake that they will have ever made!

Via TownHall.com:

Promising this would be “the first of a series of conversations” with bloggers, former Maryland LG Michael Steele held a blogger conference call today regarding his bid for RNC Chairman.

Regarding bloggers, Steele said, “we have under-utilized a tremendously valuable resource.”  He also added that he’s usually up at 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning, online.

Steele promised a full-fledged communications operation that includes many forms of contact, including mail, the internet, and text-messaging.  He promised a “full-blown internet strategy which will raise money but also raise interest.”  He also noted:  “That’s going to mean tackling some of the old taboos in politics…what we saw with the Obama campaign was a phenomenal operation.”

In response to one of my questions, Steele also promised to sign-on to RebuildtheParty.com.

On his reason for running, Steele said he opposed the GOP becoming Democratic Lite:  “If I wanted to be a Democrat — having grown up in Washington, DC…then I would have joined the Democratic Party.”

He also went out of his way to stress his pro-Life credentials.  He also said he wanted to attract new members to join the Republican Party, and that he believes in a “government that is efficient.”

Steele also warned that Republicans shouldn’t “soft-pedal” our attacks on Barack Obama, “just because the President of the United States happens to be a Black man.” This, of course, presents the argument that Steele — an African-American — could be a more effective critic of Obama than could his white Republican colleagues.

Regarding a follow-up question I asked him, Steele responded that “the Obama campaign played the race card beautifully.” He said it hurt Bill Clinton and that it also hurt John McCain because he wouldn’t mention Reverend Wright.  Steele argued that in taking Rev. Wright off the table, McCain surrendered the one issue that might have helped him win.

This man is exactly what the G.O.P. needs right now, like yesterday! He would be able to steer that party in the proper direction and also be able to counter much of what Obama has thrown at the G.O.P.

I think that this would be a MAJOR step in the right direction. (no pun intended…)

Update: Irk! Judging from some of the comments, I guess some within the G.O.P. don’t like this guy… It figures. 🙄
