A new conservative group has produced a television ad attacking Barack Obama for his relationship with former Weather Underground bomber Bill Ayers.
“How much do your really know about Barack Obama? What does he really believe?” asks the ad, which then cites the failed attack on the Capitol on 9/11, and links it to the Weather Underground attack on the Capitol decades earlier.
The group says it will spend $2.8 million airing the ad in Ohio and Michigan ā which would be the largest single third-party expenditure this cycle.
“Why would Barack Obama be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol and is proud of it?” asks the narrator. “Do you know enough to elect Barack Obama?”
The group, the American Issues Project, is a 501(c)4 ā which means it isn’t required to disclose its donors. According to a press release set to go out shortly, it’s the product of a coalition of conservative groups (Failor said his Iowans for Tax Relief is not among them). Its president is Ed Martin, a Missouri conservative. Another official, Ed Failor Jr., is a former McCain aide in Iowa who left after the campaign’s shakeup last summer.
The substance of the ad matches a recent upswing in the McCain campaign’s references to Ayers. The use of 9/11 imagery links Ayers, and Obama, to the American conflict Islamic terror, which is the subject of many viral e-mails attacking Obama.
The group’s spokesman, Christian Pinkston, called the suggestion that the group is making any link with Islam “unfair.”
“The idea here was to talk about the fact that his friends hate America, and that’s who he’s aligning himself with,” he said.
It’s spokesman, Christian Pinkston, is a former aide to presidential candidate Jack Kemp and went on to run the conservative group Empower America.
Pinkston says the ad will launch later this afternoon.
Of course the Obama Campaign is not taking this laying down at all, they issued a statement on the ad saying:
The fact that John McCain dispatched his paid consultant to launch
this despicable ad from a so-called āindependentā committee shows how
desperate he is to change the subject from his shocking disconnect with
the economic struggles of the American people. He knows that Barack
Obama has denounced the detestable crimes that Bill Ayers committed 40
years ago.Instead of invoking Paris, Britney and obscure ’60s radicals, Sen.
McCain should take the day off at one of his seven homes to consider
whether his support for outsourcing, tax breaks for companies who ship
jobs overseas and continued spending of $10 billion a month in Iraq is
really putting “country first.” To us, it sounds like just more of the

How weak! I would have quickly produced a video that linked McCain to lobbyists and mentioned the supposed, never proven, so-called, affair that he had with a lobbyist. That would have shut them up, right away. But instead, they put out a weakly worded statement like that. Score one for McCain, I say. Plus, there’s no proof that McCain was linked to this group at all. So, again, the response was quite weak.
Look, If Obama is going to win this horse race, he had better learn to fight like pit bill and not a poodle. Because if he doesn’t Bulldog McCain is going to eat him alive.

Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Ohio, a Democratic superdelegate and one of Hillary Clinton’s most ardent supporters, was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday after suffering an aneurysm, the hospital said.
< Dr. Gus Kious, chief of staff at Huron Hospital in East Cleveland, Ohio, said that Tubbs Jones had “very limited brain function” and that the aneurysm is in “an inaccessible part of her brain.”
“She remains in critical condition at present in our intensive care unit. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this very difficult time,” Kious said.
Earlier reports had said Tubbs Jones had died.
This statement from Senator Clinton is in response to the news of Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones’s aneurysm and hospitalization. We are all praying for Stephanie and her family during this difficult time.
“Stephanie is a strong, remarkable woman with an incredible fighting spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with my dear friend Stephanie and her family at this difficult time,” said Senator Hillary Clinton.
Senator Barack Obama made the following statement regarding today’s news about Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones:
“Michelle and I are saddened to hear today’s news about Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones. She is a passionate and tireless advocate for the people of Cleveland and a devoted public servant for all Americans. We send our heartfelt prayers to Stephanie and her family at this very difficult time.”
This is a very sad story. What makes it worse, is the fact that some News agencies and yes, even some bloggers totally screwed the news up and reported her as dead. What makes it even worse is some idiotic Hillary supporters are going around saying that Obama had her killed. This is totally asinine. They should be ashamed of themselves for disrespecting the family like that.
As I wrote before, my thoughts and prayers are with the family on this truly sad day.

You know Politics is one thing, but real life is another. This woman is/was a fighter, a real fighter. She would get on MSNBC and go toe to toe with Tucker Carlson. She once told Tucker Carlson to “Get a life”, live on the air. Which I thought was absolutely hilarious. It is a sad day in politics and in the black Community.

Biden would make sense, he’s got the foreign policy and he would make one hell of a good attack dog.

Other people being discussed are Bill Richardson, who would bring some serious foreign policy credentials to the Obama campaign. (Despite what some idiotic Republicans say about that…)
Either way, I believe no one is going to have the actual “inside track” on whom Obama will pick, obviously it will be someone that will help and not hurt his campaign.

Todayās lead post, which was written August 17, is called āJesus Christ.ā It begins with, āIām a really crappy Catholic who hasnāt been to mass in ages because most parishes around here āwillā insist on being aggressively anti-abortionā¦.ā The writer then objects to some childrenās toys on the grounds that they are more offensive than desecrating the Eucharist. The toys are actually balloons that have been made to depict Jesus in various poses, including a crucified Christ; one of these images shows Jesus with a penis. Several who commented on this image made patently obscene comments.
āTowleroad describes itself as āA Site with Homosexual Tendencies.ā Accordingly, it shows men in jock straps and underwear. It also has a post on Pope Benedict XVI that takes him to task for wearing a cape with ermine. Some of those who commented on this described the pope in a vile and profane way.

I tend to believe that Mr. Donohue might want to rethink his position on this, because insulting the Catholic Church is one thing, but suppression of free speech is another, especially in the Blogging world. This could backfire in the face of Bill and his band of idiots.

The Story: Officials: Russia warns of push into Georgia – (Via CNN.com)
Russian troops have warned they intend to push further into western Georgia, Georgian officials claimed Sunday as an increasingly violent territorial dispute in the former Soviet state threatened to spiral into a major international conflict.
The apparent move came after Georgian troops began withdrawing from South Ossetia, a breakaway region where military action by Tbilisi last week triggered a full scale military clash with Russia that some say has left hundreds dead.
Russia’s military action — which Moscow claims is a legitimate peacekeeping mission in response to Georgian aggression — has provoked criticism from the U.S., which Sunday condemned it as “disproportionate.”
Growing concerns over the conflict have threatened to spill over Georgia’s borders with Ukraine Sunday saying it might ban Russia’s fleet from Crimea bases after it mobilized off the coast of Abkhazia, another breakaway region.
Analysts say Russia is trying to assert its authority in the former Soviet Union territories, where it claims many people have greater allegiance to Moscow than to Western-leaning Tbilisi, a U.S. ally vying for NATO membership.
Violence has escalated over several days with claims of war planes shot down on either side and accusations of civilian casualties in bombing raids. Russia has claimed up to 2,000 people have died. Georgia puts the figure much lower.
As Russian troops took control in South Ossetia, the breakaway province where long-running tensions exploded into conflict last Thursday, the dispute threatened to open up on a second front Sunday.
Georgian Interior Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili said Russian forces plan to move into the city of Zugdidi, which is beyond the border of the second Georgian restive province of Abkhazia.
White House Deputy National Security Advisor Jim Jeffrey said the United States was urgently looking into the report, saying that it would be a very serious escalation for Russia to move into Georgia beyond the Abkhazia region.
My questions are this:
Iām sorry folks, but this truly does tweak me off. Why is our President more interested in playing āKissy Kissyā bunch of Communists, Than he is making sure the peace and stability of the Georgia – Russian region is not preserved?
If I were President of the United States, I would make a public announcement that Russia had 48 hours to withdraw all forces from the region of Georgia or they would face a full scale air assault from the United States and it’s allies, and face a ground assault from the allied forces. I believe that it is high time, that the United States of America has finally defeated that totalitarian communist regime, once and for all. Sorry, I do not buy the epic lie that the Country of Russia is a free society, that my friends, is a smokescreen and a lie to fool the rest of the world.
Well, Mr. President, what is it going to be, action or cowardice?

Man, I hope this resolves this conflict or starts the resolving of it.

Georgia says its troops have withdrawn from the breakaway region of South Ossetia and that Russian forces are in control of its capital, Tskhinvali.
A government spokesman told the BBC it was not a military defeat but a necessary step to protect civilians.
But a Russian military spokesman said Georgia had not withdrawn its forces and the situation remained tense.
The US described Russia’s actions as “dangerous and disproportionate” and said they might affect long-term ties.
“We’re alarmed by this situation,” US Deputy National Security Adviser James Jeffrey told reporters in Beijing.
Russian PM Vladimir Putin earlier suggested it was unlikely that South Ossetia would re-integrate with the rest of Georgia, saying the country’s territorial integrity had “suffered a fatal blow”.
Hopefully, this is the beginning of the end of this conflict in that region. Although, there does seem to be a larger group of issues at hand. This might just be the step in the right direction.

The Story: Comic actor Bernie Mac dies at age 50- CNN.com
Comic actor Bernie Mac died early Saturday of complications from pneumonia, according to a family member and his publicist. He was 50.
Bernie MacHe had been hospitalized in Chicago, Illinois, for more than a week with the lung infection.
Danica Smith, the comedian’s publicist, had said Thursday that Mac’s condition was “stable,” The Associated Press reported.
“When I got the call this morning, it was just devastating news,” said Chicago Sun-Times columnist Stella Foster. “Let’s face it: Bernie Mac was one of a kind. He was the best of the best in terms of giving you a good laugh
Politics is one thing, but real life is another. 50 years old is such a young age to die. A talent taken, way too soon. My Prayers and thoughts go out to the family.

A knife-wielding Chinese man attacked two relatives of a coach for the U.S. Olympic men’s volleyball team at a tourist site in Beijing, killing one and injuring the other on the first day of the Olympics on Saturday, team officials and state media said.
The man then committed suicide by throwing himself from the second story of the site, the 13th century Drum Tower just five miles from the main Olympics site.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the one slain and are with the Olympic team affected by this horrible tragedy.

The United States urged Russia on Friday to halt aircraft and missile attacks in Georgia’s breakaway region of South Ossetia and withdraw its combat forces from Georgian territory as the situation in the former Soviet state verged on full-scale war.
The White House said President Bush discussed the situation with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin while both leaders were in Beijing for the start of the Olympics. And Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called the parties involved in hopes of ending the fighting, and made plans to send a U.S. envoy to the region.
“The United States calls for an immediate cease-fire to the armed conflict in Georgia’s region of South Ossetia,” Rice said in a statement. “We call on Russia to cease attacks on Georgia by aircraft and missiles, respect Georgia’s territorial integrity and withdraw its ground combat forces from Georgian soil.
Thoughts and Prayers are with the people in that region. It is my hope and Prayer that peace will once again come to that region.

Barack Obama will see fans meet him with his own salute like the one above. “Our goal is to see a crowd of 75,000 people at Obama’s nomination speech holding their hands above their heads, fingers laced together in support of a new direction for this country, a renewed hope, and acceptance of responsibility for our future,” says Rick Husong, owner of The Loyalty Inc. Husong tells me that he got the idea after seeing the famous Obama-Progress poster by artist Shepherd Fairey. “We wanted to get involved some way,” he says. So, the agency came up with their own a symbol of hope and progress that also plays off Obama’s name. “We thought, ‘Let’s try and start a movement where even while walking down the street, people would hold up the O and you would know that they were for Obama,’ ” says Husong. The Story: Cop suspended for demanding free Starbucks (Via msnbc.com)
Chicago police officer has been suspended for 15 months for demanding free coffee and baked goods from six different Starbucks.
Officer Barbara Nevers, a 14-year veteran, has also been ordered to undergo counseling.
The Police Board ruled in May that 55-year-old Nevers intimidated Starbucks employees by screaming at them and flashing her badge, handcuffs or gun when they wanted her to pay. The board released its findings Thursday.

Breaking News in Detroit!
There is justice in the City of Detroit! Major Kwame Kilpatrick will SPEND THE NIGHT IN JAIL, or stay possibly longer. His Lawyers are going to see a judge at 9:00 A.M. to attempt to appeal the ruling.

Judge Ronald Giles has ordered Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick into Wayne County Jail for violating his bond.
The mayor violated his bond when he went to Canada July 23 without informing the court, a condition of his bond. The judge also pointed out that the mayor had to make many calls and arrangements for his trip to Canada and could have easily called the court to alert it of the trip.
The 36th District Court judge stressed that he was treating Detroit’s mayor in the same way he would “John Sixpack.”
The Judge also withdrew the drug screening since the mayor took four tests and all came back clean.
It is not clear how long the mayor will be in jail since the judge revoked his bond.
Judge Giles also revoked the mayor’s ability to travel.
Kudo’s to the judge that did this, his name is Judge Ronald Giles and he is the best!

I must say that I agree with AllahPundit over at HotAir.com.
Those photos of Edwards look quite doctored to me as well. They also have a blur effect applied to them as well. This makes them quite suspect to me.
If I were Edwards, I would be hiring an attorney and suing the living snot out of that magazine.

Barack Obama has lost ground among some of his strongest bases of support, including young people, women, Democrats and independents, according to a new ATV/Zogby poll.
The Illinois Democrat has also lost some support among African-Americans and Hispanics, where his lead over Republican John McCain has shrunk, and among Catholics, where he’s lost his lead.
The net result, pollster John Zogby found, is a race that’s neck and neck, with McCain supported by 42 percent; Obama by 41 percent; Libertarian Bob Barr by 2 percent; and independent Ralph Nader by 2 percent. Another 13 percent supported other candidates or were undedcided.
Zogby called the results a “notable turnaround” from a July survey he did that showed Obama leading by 46-36.
“McCain made signifciant gains at Obama’s expense among some of what had been Obama’s strongest demographic groups,” Zogby said.
His findings:
-Among voters aged 18-29, Obama lost 16 percent and McCain gained 20. Obama still leads, 49-38;
-Among women, McCain gained 10 percentage points. Obama now leads 43-38;
-Among independents, Obama lost an 11 point lead. They’re now tied;
-Among Democrats, Obama’s support dropped from 83 percent to 74 percent;
-Among Catholics, Obama lost the 11 point lead he had in July and now trails McCain by 15.
Looks like the veneer has worn off of Obama and people are beginning to see that idiot Marxist Liberal for what he is. Not only this, John McCain found a campaign message that is finally sticking and is making Obama look like a total inexperienced buffoon. The trip overseas also did not make Obama look good at all.
Not to mention, like I said before, Obama played McCain’s hand on race, whether if he knew it or not. This did not resonate well with middle America, AKA White America. Not only this, general black population does not view Obama as truly authentic. This does not do him well, because he is relying on the black vote. If he looses the Black Vote and looses Middle America. We will be looking at another Republican President.
Personally, as a Libertarian Paleo-Conservative, the idea of another Neo-Conservative in the White House, makes me cringe. However, the idea of a Marxist in the White House scares me to high Heaven. I guess it is the lesser of two evils. That is, of course, you vote for a third party candidate, which we all know is basically tossing a vote out the window.
