A Pity: Man with guns, tries to check into same hotel as Pelosi, Pelosi unhurt.

I am watching that Communist Liberal idiot Bitch on MSNBC’s Meet the Press. She’s trying, very poorly, to defend her position of being against offshore drilling. She’s a living, breathing example of why a woman, much less, a Liberal woman, has no place in politics. She needs to go home and bake cookies and leave the politics to the men folk.

The Story: Man arrested carrying weapons at Pelosi hotel (Via The Denver Post)

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was briefly evacuated from her downtown Denver hotel on Saturday when a man carrying two hunting rifles and two pistols tried to check in to the hotel.

Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley said 29-year-old Joseph Calanchini of Pinedale, Wyo., faces a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon after police officers at the Grand Hyatt hotel noticed him carrying a rifle-type case while checking in. Calanchini did not have a concealed weapons permit, said Lance Clem, spokesman for the Colorado Department of Public Safety.

Wiley said authorities were not releasing information about whether the weapons were loaded because the case remained under investigation. Wiley said the charge is the same whether the weapons were loaded or unloaded.

Pelosi and other guests briefly evacuated the hotel but were never in danger, Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly said.

Calanchini remained at Denver City Jail Sunday on $10,000 bond, said Denver Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Steckman.

Authorities were investigating a report that Calanchini was in town on business and had had the weapons worked upon, including mounting of site scopes, to prepare for an upcoming hunting trip.

“The speaker was never in any danger and she appreciates the quick and professional response of the police,” said Daly.

Arrested?? The guy deserves a damn medal. It’s just a damn pity that the guy was not there to put that miserable communist liberal bitch out of her own misery.

Richard Viguerie says “Washington Politicians Again Covering Up True Size of Federal Deficit”

(Manassas, Virginia) Reacting to projections from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) that the Fiscal Year 2008 federal deficit will be about $400 Billion, the Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, Richard A. Viguerie, issued the following statement:

“According to CBO, the current fiscal year, which ends on September 30, will end up with a deficit of $400 Billion. While this figure is shockingly high, the truth is that the actually deficit is a lot higher.

“The $400 Billion deficit is based on an accounting fraud called the Unified Budget, in which money borrowed from the Social Security Trust Fund and which is added to the National Debt, is counted as income for the annual budget.

“This kind of trickery by Republicans and Democrats would land officers of publicly held companies in prison.

“When you take the $186 Billion that is being borrowed from Social Security and add it to the $400 Billion deficit that is being acknowledged, you get the real deficit of $586 Billion.

“Raiding the Social Security Trust Fund to finance the general operations of the federal government is a direct attack on the financial security of senior citizens. Trying to cover it up through deception is unconscionable.

“As for Fiscal Year 2009, the Bush Administration projects a deficit of $482 Billion, but that does not include $36 Billion from the Housing Bill, $80 Billion in war costs, and $227 Billion borrowed from the Social Security Trust Fund. The actual deficit next year will be $825 Billion–$343 Billion more than has been acknowledged.

“While the Housing Bill passed late and no one really is sure what the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will cost, it is inexcusable to pretend that the $227 Billion being borrowed from Social Security is an asset, rather than a debt that must be repaid.

“Republican and Democratic politicians should keep their hands off of Social Security surpluses. And they should start accounting honestly for the money borrowed from the Trust Fund.”

Russia warns of push into Georgia, The United States Government does nothing…

You know, I am going to say a few things about this, and I am most likely am going to be accused of either being a Bush-hater or a Neo-Conservative and Possibly even a Neo-Libertarian or even the highest honor of all, a Chickenhawk… But this crap needs to be said.

The Story: Officials: Russia warns of push into Georgia – (Via CNN.com)

Russian troops have warned they intend to push further into western Georgia, Georgian officials claimed Sunday as an increasingly violent territorial dispute in the former Soviet state threatened to spiral into a major international conflict.

The apparent move came after Georgian troops began withdrawing from South Ossetia, a breakaway region where military action by Tbilisi last week triggered a full scale military clash with Russia that some say has left hundreds dead.

Russia’s military action — which Moscow claims is a legitimate peacekeeping mission in response to Georgian aggression — has provoked criticism from the U.S., which Sunday condemned it as “disproportionate.”

Growing concerns over the conflict have threatened to spill over Georgia’s borders with Ukraine Sunday saying it might ban Russia’s fleet from Crimea bases after it mobilized off the coast of Abkhazia, another breakaway region.

Analysts say Russia is trying to assert its authority in the former Soviet Union territories, where it claims many people have greater allegiance to Moscow than to Western-leaning Tbilisi, a U.S. ally vying for NATO membership.

Violence has escalated over several days with claims of war planes shot down on either side and accusations of civilian casualties in bombing raids. Russia has claimed up to 2,000 people have died. Georgia puts the figure much lower.

As Russian troops took control in South Ossetia, the breakaway province where long-running tensions exploded into conflict last Thursday, the dispute threatened to open up on a second front Sunday.

Georgian Interior Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili said Russian forces plan to move into the city of Zugdidi, which is beyond the border of the second Georgian restive province of Abkhazia.

White House Deputy National Security Advisor Jim Jeffrey said the United States was urgently looking into the report, saying that it would be a very serious escalation for Russia to move into Georgia beyond the Abkhazia region.

My questions are this:

  • Where the hell is our damned President!?!?!?
  • Why isn’t President Bush telling Russia to either back off of Georgia or face a full scale attack by the United States and it’s allies?
  • Why is Bush over in a damned communist foreign country and being mettlesome in their affairs?
  • Could it be that he is more interested in playing “Kissy Face” to the Chinese government, so they will send us more money? Than he is helping defend a small country being picked on by a communist oppressor?

I’m sorry folks, but this truly does tweak me off. Why is our President more interested in playing “Kissy Kissy” bunch of Communists, Than he is making sure the peace and stability of the Georgia – Russian region is not preserved?

If I were President of the United States, I would make a public announcement that Russia had 48 hours to withdraw all forces from the region of Georgia or they would face a full scale air assault from the United States and it’s allies, and face a ground assault from the allied forces. I believe that it is high time, that the United States of America has finally defeated that totalitarian communist regime, once and for all. Sorry, I do not buy the epic lie that the Country of Russia is a free society, that my friends, is a smokescreen and a lie to fool the rest of the world.

Well, Mr. President, what is it going to be, action or cowardice?

My thoughts on the Bush Aid Subpoena Ruling….

My feelings on this ruling are this.

As I have said on this Blog many times in the past, that no one, irregardless of social, political or financial status, is above the law. Yes, that includes the President of United States and his staff.

This game of hiding behind executive privilege is dangerous one and could cost the Republicans in the long run.

If the President of the United States and his staff have not broken the law, then why are they insistent on using executive privilege, as a sort of cloak and dagger game? That is the question, that many people, including many conservatives want answered.

We need answers, not games, and it is high time that the President and his group of Neo-Conservative thugs started answering honestly. It is also high time, that the Conservatives in Congress stopped cowering to this imperialistic President and his minions and started standing up for the Constitution of the United States and the Principles behind it.

The members of Congress serve at the pleasure of the people of the United States of America, and if the Conservatives in Congress do not start getting back to the Original principles of the Republican Party, they can and will be replaced with those who will take up this challenge and serve this country with honor and integrity.

Save The Planet? How About Saving The Republic?

Yesterday, the Politico quoted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as saying, "I’m
trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet." She was
responding, of course, to pressure that she and her fellow Democrats are
experiencing to suspend a congressional ban on offshore oil drilling in the
face of skyrocketing energy prices. It would be really wonderful, however,
if the liberal congresswoman could get as energized about saving our once
great republic.

Herein lies another problem: the vast majority of our politicos (from both
major parties) do not even seem to know what kind of country the United
States was designed to be. Virtually every reference made to the United
States by our civil magistrates is that we are a "democracy." That’s odd;
someone should have told our Founding Fathers, because they emphatically
rejected the concept of creating a "democracy" in favor of creating a
constitutional republic.

Has anyone quoted the Pledge of Allegiance lately? Does it say, "And to the
democracy for which it stands"? Or does it say, "And to the republic for
which it stands"? Of course it says "republic."

At the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention, a passerby asked
Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got–a republic or monarchy?"
Franklin replied, "A republic–if you can keep it."

Ladies and Gentlemen, that is the sixty-four million dollar question: Can we
keep our republic? Can we keep our constitutional form of government? Can we
keep our constitutionally protected liberties?

In Federalist No. 10, James Madison ("The Father of the U.S. Constitution")
said, "[D]emocracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention;
have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of
property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been
violent in their deaths."

The fear of what happens to freedom and liberty under democratic rule is
what prompted Madison and the rest of America’s founders to labor so hard to
create what they did: a constitutional republic.

Under God, it is allegiance to the Constitution that has preserved our
liberties, our peace and happiness, our security, and our very way of life.
Furthermore, it is the repudiation and rejection of constitutional
government that is responsible for the manner in which these very same
blessings are currently being lost.

Someone needs to remind Rep. Pelosi that it is not her duty (nor does she
have the power) to "save the planet." And by the same token, someone needs
to remind Senators Barack Obama and John McCain that they are not
campaigning to be President of the World, but President of the United
States.

What every elected officeholder is expected and required to do is very
simple: they are required to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution
of the United States of America. Period. End of story.

Our public servants are not charged with saving the snail darter or the
Spotted Owl, or saving the profits of the international bankers, or saving
Wall Street in general, or saving the perks of corporate lobbyists, or
saving Freddie and Fannie, or saving the peoples of the world from all the
bogeymen, or even saving humankind or the planet itself. What our public
servants are charged with, however, is preserving (saving) our
constitutional republic.

Of course, the problem is, the people who are charged with the preservation
of our republic are the ones who are the most responsible for its
destruction. The American people have far more to fear from Nancy Pelosi,
Barack Obama, and John McCain than they do from any foreign adversary,
because our leaders have proven that they have absolutely no fidelity to the
principles of constitutional government. They have no compunction about
eviscerating the protection of our freedoms, or about abolishing the
vanguard of our liberties. They are Machiavellian, making King George of old
look like a mere amateur.

No, I take that back. It is not our civil magistrates who are most
responsible for the destruction of our republican form of government: it is
"We the people."

At the end of the day, it is the responsibility of the people to govern
themselves. We must be willing to hold our civil magistrates accountable to
the contract they made with us, which is to uphold constitutional
government. It is our duty to "throw off" any system of government that does
not secure our liberties and protect our constitution. And this we have not
done.

Christian pastors and ministers have failed us. The "Religious Right" has
failed us. College professors have failed us. High School teachers have
failed us. Newspaper editors and publishers have failed us. TV news anchors
and reporters have failed us. Parents have failed. Friends have failed. The
two major political parties have failed. As a whole, no one is talking
about, or even thinking about, the loss of constitutional government,
national independence, and sovereignty. Few seem even conscious that this is
taking place.

Worrying about which major party wins a general election is like worrying
about whether Coke or Pepsi sold more soft drinks last month. Pick your
poison. One is just as bad as the other. Neither has any fidelity to the
Constitution or to the principles of liberty, which it represents. Both John
McCain and Barack Obama are enemies to constitutional government. Both are
in the process of sacrificing our national sovereignty to global entities.
Both men lied when they took an oath to preserve and protect the
Constitution. So, why should we care which impostor wins the election?

It is up to the American people to enforce constitutional government. From a
Christian perspective, it is "We the people" who are the "powers that be" in
Romans chapter 13. Under our form of government, the source of authority and
the source of legitimacy reside with "We the people." We are not the slaves
of any king or despot. Our elected leaders are public servants, not private
masters. In a nutshell, they work for us. They are contracted to preserve
our liberties and our way of life. When they fail, they must answer to us.

So, when will the American people pick themselves up by the bootstraps and
start acting like free citizens and stop groveling before these imbecilic
political parties? When will we set this political house in order?

Of course, all of this demands that each of us understands constitutional
government and the principles upon which liberty rests. It also demands that
each of us be prepared to do whatever is our personal duty to preserve this
republic.

Patriotism is more than waving a flag on July 4th, or singing The National
Anthem at a ball game, or wearing a flag lapel pin on Flag Day. For an
American, real patriotism means that we are willing to preserve and protect
our constitutional republic. Remember, Franklin’s answer: "A republic–if
you can keep it."

Nancy Pelosi can talk about saving the planet all she wants to: her duty,
however, is to preserve, protect, and defend the U.S. Constitution. And that
is also the job of every single American citizen. Unfortunately, most of us
are no better at doing our job than Pelosi is at doing hers.

Democrat’s Senate Energy Bill flops, because of Democrat Stupidity

This does not surprise me in the least, as I have often said, we need to close the Enron loophole AND increase production.

Legislation to rein in excessive energy speculation failed a key procedural vote on Friday to move forward in the Senate, and now lawmakers will set aside the bill to consider other legislation.

The House of Representatives may take up its own anti-speculation bill next week, and then lawmakers will get
ready to leave for their month-long recess in August. Sixty "yes" votes were required in the 100-member Senate for the bill to move forward, but the measure received only 50 "yes" votes, while 43 lawmakers opposed.


Senate Democrats said the legislation was needed to give the government new powers to curb speculators, whom many lawmakers accused of being behind the run-up in crude oil and gasoline prices.

So, why did the Democrats shelve this very important bill? Because they wanted to end the speculation WITHOUT loosening the tight regulations of drilling for oil, that’s why! 🙄

Senate Republicans strongly opposed the bill because it focused only on speculation, and they argued the legislation should be modified to also boost U.S. oil production by allowing more offshore drilling and developing vast oil shale fields in the West.

"Americans are insisting we do more. They want us to do something to cut the price of gas and lessen our dependence on Middle East oil," said Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.

However, instead telling the truth about the elitist, limousine Democrats, who really do not care if the gas of prices tops 5 to 8 dollars a gallon, instead scary Harry Reid, The idiot Mormon piece of crap, says this, spinning the pointed head top that he is..:

Constitution Party Presidential Candidate Chuck Baldwin Says “The Religious Right Is AWOL From The Real War”

The Religious Right Is AWOL From The Real War

I want to begin this column with one of my all-time favorite quotes. It
comes from the great German reformer Martin Luther. He said, “If I profess
with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of
God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at
that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be
professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier
is proved; and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is mere flight
and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”

Luther’s trenchant statement reminds us that today’s Christians, especially
our Christian leaders, are conspicuously absent from the field of battle.
Oh, they may host large crowds in their gatherings; they may deposit
multiplied millions of dollars in their financial accounts; they may receive
thunderous applause from politicians, but they have fled the battlefield at
the point of attack.

For the record, the real battlefield today is not abortion. It is not
homosexual marriage. It is not Social Security. It is not al Qaeda. It is
not taxes. It is not inflation. It is not electing conservatives. It is not
posting the Ten Commandments. It is not even the high cost of gasoline. That
is not to say that those issues are not important and not deserving of our
best efforts and attention, because they are. But those issues do not
represent the major battlefield today.

The battlefield where the devil has amassed his greatest forces and is
thrusting his deadliest armies is the surrender of our national sovereignty
and independence, and the creation of global government. And it is our own
political and corporate leaders that are facilitating this chicanery.
Furthermore, by refusing to oppose this surrender, our Christian leaders are
complicit as well.

Obviously, the surrender of our independence has been ongoing for some time.
However, under Bill Clinton and especially under G.W. Bush, the pace has
quickened exponentially.

Doubtless, the biggest reason President Bush has more aggressively hastened
the pace of America’s merger into supranational government is because he
enjoys widespread support among evangelical Christians. Absent opposition
from Christian leaders, G.W. Bush has virtually had a free hand. And please
know this: before Bush was a Republican, before he was a “conservative,”
before he was a Christian, he was and is a globalist, as was his father and
grandfather before him.

Because our national Christian leaders are content to revel in the lap of
political cronyism with President Bush (and the Republican Party), they have
abandoned their positions as watchmen on the wall. Instead of being watchmen
and heralds of truth, they have become political lackeys and toadies for the
GOP.

Now, just yesterday, James Dobson declares that he “might” support John
McCain. This in spite of the fact that only a few months ago Mr. Dobson
promised, “I cannot and I will not vote for Sen. John McCain as a matter of
conscience.”

Ah, but that is just the problem: when it comes to groveling before the GOP,
our Christian leaders have no conscience. Hence, James Dobson is now
publicly saying he “might” support McCain.

The ones who are doing the yeoman’s work in trying to warn the American
people to what is happening in regard to the surrender of our country’s
liberties and independence are people such as Congressman Ron Paul and Dr.
Jerome Corsi.

Many of you know Corsi as the man who co-authored the Number 1 New York
Times best-seller, “Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against
John Kerry.”

Jerome Corsi holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University in political science. He
is not some fringe-radical (not that Harvard hasn’t produced its own
radicals). Religiously, my understanding is that Corsi is either a Roman
Catholic or Episcopalian. However, Corsi is doing what James Dobson, Tony
Perkins, et al. should be doing, but aren’t: he is sounding the trumpet of
truth for the real battlefield.

In a nutshell, Corsi warns us that G.W. Bush is secretly working to merge
the United States into a trilateral government with Canada and Mexico. Corsi
maintains that back in March of 2005, President Bush, Mexican President
Vicente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin entered into an
agreement that binds the three countries into a regional or hemispheric
government.

Corsi insists that this is one of the central reasons why Bush is so adamant
about granting amnesty to Mexico’s illegal aliens. Bush is simply following
through with his commitment to Fox and Martin.

Corsi also notes that this new hemispheric entity already has a name. It is
called the North American Union (NAU), and it is being created without any
input (or even knowledge) from our legislative or judicial branches of
government. The official name of the agreement made between the three
leaders is the “Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America” (SPP).
Obviously, the new NAU is modeled after the already established European
Union (EU).

Folks, please be aware that President Bush has already committed the United
States to a regional or hemispheric government. When completed, this
regional government will control everything relative to the “security” and
“prosperity” of this new North American Union. That includes everything
relating to travel, law enforcement, trade, education, military matters,
etc. So, what is left out? Nothing.

Please remember, too, that all of this is being done without any input from
the American people or their elected representatives at the state or federal
level. I would even dare say that the vast majority of congressmen and
senators are completely oblivious to the fact that this is even happening.
With the attention of the American people (and Congress) focused on the
Middle East, Bush and his cabal of elitists are moving forward with plans to
surrender our national independence and merge our country into a regional
government. Friends, this is the real war; this is the real battlefield.

When America loses its sovereignty and independence, we will lose all of our
fundamental liberties. The Constitution will be meaningless and irrelevant.
The Bill of Rights will be moot. The principles of religious liberty, the
right to life, and the Christian foundation of our country will be passé.
And, as I said at the outset of this column, our national leaders,
especially our Christian leaders, are totally absent from this battlefield.

The surrender of our national sovereignty and independence is where the
battle currently rages; it is where the devil is at this moment attacking
(to quote Luther). But where is the Religious Right? They have flinched and
fled in the face of battle. They would rather hold onto their precious perks
of power within the ivory towers of partisan politics. Luther is right:
their actions are disgraceful.

Hey, Dobson! Nobody cares what YOU think about ANYONE or ANYTHING!

Good grief, is this idiot still mumbling about Politics? Egad.

The Story:Dobson shifts positions, may endorse McCain (via Yahoo! News)

Conservative Christian leader James Dobson has softened his stance against Republican presidential hopeful John McCain, saying he could reverse his position and endorse the Arizona senator despite serious misgivings.

“I never thought I would hear myself saying this,” Dobson said in a radio broadcast to air Monday. “… While I am not endorsing Senator John McCain, the possibility is there that I might.”

Dobson and other evangelical leaders unimpressed by McCain increasingly are taking a lesser-of-two-evils approach to the 2008 race. Dobson and his guest, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary president Albert Mohler, spend most of the pretaped Focus on the Family radio program criticizing Democratic candidate Barack Obama, getting to McCain at the very end.

This is one of the many so-called “Christians” and Religious Pharisees who really, really, burns my behind. If you’re a Christian and you believe that Christians should have influence in political affairs, you might want to stop here. Because what I am about to say, might just make your head explode.

James Dobson and his band of Conservative Christians, inspired by Jerry Falwell and Pat Roberson, have, for over the past 30 years, tried to muscle their way into Washington Politics. This is, in fact, directly polar opposite of what the founding Fathers of this great country had in mind, when they fled Great Britain and settled in the New World in 1776.

The reason why the Pilgrims left Great Britain is because the Roman Catholic Church, at the time, was highly influencing the Political World in England, at the time. Because of this, the Pilgrims, or as they were called, puritans, were being persecuted by the Roman Catholic Church and the King of Great Britain for their refusal to submit to the Roman Catholic Church’s dogma. Because of that, the pilgrims left Great Britain on a boat to find a New Land. Where they could practice their Religion without fear of being arrested and possibly burned at the stake.

But yet, today we have Religious hustlers like James Dobson who are constantly wanting to turn The United States of America from a Democracy to a Theocracy! This my friends is outrageous and about as asinine as it comes. That Constitution that sits in Washignton D.C. was never written to give preference to any form of Religion whatsoever.

The Pledge that we say, and what is inscripted in the Congress Halls, says, “One Nation, Under God.” It does NOT say, “One Nation, under Evangelical Christianity”! But yet, you have Religious hucksters like James Dobson who want to see it changed to just that. That my friends is what is truly wrong with the whole Conservative Christian movement. They want to take this nation into the same sort of mentality that existed in Great Britain when the Pilgrims left and came to the new World.

As a Libertarian, as someone who believes in individual freedoms and freedom OF and FROM Religion, I think that what James Dobson is doing is absolutely sickening. Attempting to influence public thinking. Is not that a violation of the IRS’s rules and regulations, regarding Religious Ministries getting involved in Politics? It sure sounds like it to me. Where is our feckless Government? Why isn’t he getting a warning letter?

One Republican Senator got it correct, and that was the late great Senator Barry Goldwater, once, I am told, when he was running for President in 1964, was asked by a reporter, about what could Jerry Falwell and his followers, do for his Campaign. Goldwater replied, “I know what I’d like to do to him”, when asked, he simply said, “I’d like to put my foot up his ass!” Needless to say, Goldwater did not get much support from among the establishment Conservative Christians. Many young people supported him, but many of the older Religious types turned their noses up at Goldwater. This was because Berry Goldwater refused to give these people any sort of dialog, because Goldwater knew their agenda and that was and still is, to Christianize America. Because of this, Goldwater never received the support from the Christian community. Because of this, we ended up with, what I consider to be one of our nation’s worst Presidents ever. of whom which went on to cause one of the worst social upheavals in this country. All over a war, that was never formally declared and which our Nation should have never bothered getting involved in, sort of like one we’re involved with today, in Iraq. Afghanistan is another story entirely.

Until someone tells these Conservative Christians to get lost. Whomever attempts to run for President will have to contend with types like Dobson for many years to come.

That my friends, is one, of many, things that are known as the “Shame of America”.

I turned to look over my shoulder to see who had uttered that ridiculous statement.

“Pardon Me?” I squinted at the dark-skinned man who had just interjected himself into my over-coffee conversation with my buddy, Kevin.

“Obama ain’t black.” He said again more matter-of-factly as he walked around the porcelain dividing wall and stood at our table where he could be more active in our conversation.

“My name’s Andree,” he said as he extended his hand. “I couldn’t help but hear what you boys had been discussin’ and I don’t mean to stick my nose in where it don’t belong, but I couldn’t leave without settin’ you straight. Obama ain’t black.”

I looked at Kevin as he shifted nervously in his seat, not sure how to take this visitor to our table.

I will simply say the following, that it is pretty telling when Obama is doing better in White America, out in places where blacks are in rare supply, than he is in the more urban communities.

On the Offshore Ban Lift

Yes, I have have heard about lifting the Ban of offshore drilling.

The good news is, it will help, in the long run. The bad news is, it will not help anytime soon.

Of course, I’d be willing to bet that the Dems will obstruct this. What needs to happen is, the Enron Loophole needs to be closed, like yesterday. Between the two, prices would come down.

Other than that, I don’t see a quick solution.

Yes, that was me….

Yes, that was me, that you heard on the Downsize D.C. Radio Show. Which is on the Genesis Radio Network.

I was giving Jim my views on what’s happening with the United States and Iran. Which I do not believe we are going to war with.

After all, according to the Washington Times and Times of London, we could very well be pulling our forces out of Iraq.

Personally, like I said on Jim’s show. The people of the United States of America are tired of this war, period. This is why the President’s approval ratings are through the floor, this is why the congress approval rating is very low as well.

Personally, as I said on Jim’s show, I personally believe that we are NOT going to go directly to war with Iran. I believe that we are going to first use negotiations, via third party talks. Then, if that does not work. We will pursue Military via proxy though Israel.

So, again, I very highly doubt that the US would be foolish enough to pursue military action directly, with Iran. Because for one, George W. Bush does not want to drop two wars into the lap of an incoming President, because he wants to be the Republican hero. Not the President who drops a war to the next President.

Remember, we tried to be the hero’s in the middle east and it failed, and the situation in Iraq is just now starting to come around in Iraq. We’re not going to make that mistake twice, at least not with Bush in the White House.

….and that’s my take on it.

The Story: OPEC warns against military conflict with Iran (via International Herald Tribune)

The head of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries warned Thursday that oil prices would see an “unlimited” increase in the case of a military conflict involving Iran, because the group’s members would be unable to make up the lost production.

“We really cannot replace Iran’s production – it’s not feasible to replace it,” Abdalla Salem El-Badri, the OPEC secretary general, said during an interview.

Iran, the second-largest producing country in OPEC, after Saudi Arabia, produces about 4 million barrels of oil a day out of the daily worldwide production of close to 87 million barrels. The country has been locked in a lengthy dispute with Western countries over its nuclear ambitions.

In recent weeks, the price of oil has risen higher on speculation that Israel could be preparing to attack Iranian nuclear facilities. The saber-rattling intensified this week with missile tests by Iran. That has further shaken oil markets because of concerns that any conflict with Iran could disrupt oil shipments from the Gulf region.

“The prices would go unlimited,” Badri said during the interview, referring to the effect of a military conflict. “I can’t give you a number.”

I highly recommend that everyone, of all political stripes go read this article. This is why we cannot go to war with Iran. Not because of our Military, but rather because it would kill us, even worse than it is now, at the gas pump.

We just cannot afford, I cannot afford, the Nation cannot afford another war with another country.

This is sick and totally disgusting…. Our National Mall, looks like a shit hole.

About half a million people are expected Friday on the National Mall in Washington for the nation’s birthday celebration, but they may be shocked at what they see.

This gathering place known as America’s “front yard” stretches from the Capitol to the Potomac River and is home to the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials and Washington Monument, but it’s starting to look like “an old rundown, worn-out mall that looks like it was abandoned 30 years ago,” says Judy Feldman of the National Coalition to Save Our Mall. – National Mall in monumental disrepair, activists say – CNN.com

Some Republican Senators in Congress want Africans to catch AIDS and die.

This comes via Cernig over at NewsHoggers, It seems that we have some Republicans who are so damn self righteous that they would rather people in Africa to die of AIDS, so, they can say, “I prevented run-away spending”, than they would like to see their party improve their image.

From McClatchy Washington Bureau, we have the substance of why these senators are against this Bill:

In a letter to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the seven senators — Coburn, Jim DeMint of South Carolina, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Jim Bunning of Kentucky, Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, Jeff Sessions of Alabama and David Vitter of Louisiana — criticized the bills’ increased spending over the next five years from $15 billion to $50 billion, the expansion of AIDS funding to countries such as China and India and the inclusion of funding for agricultural-assistance and poverty-alleviation programs.

"The bills’ support would allow morally questionable activities, including advocating with host governments to change gender norms and policies and promoting activities that could include needle distribution to drug users," the senators wrote.

McConnell and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., support the legislation and said they were pushing for a compromise. Reid has been reluctant to move the legislation forward until an agreement is struck, and this week Democratic leaders focused blame for the delay on the seven senators.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain, supports expanding the program, and the White House has pressed lawmakers for the legislation’s passage.

"President Bush himself talks to members of Congress about it to make sure that they know how important he thinks it is that they pass this bill because of all the good work that it’s doing," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Wednesday. "And I think that members of Congress recognize that, as well. I think we’re just working on these details. There have been some concerns, but I think that we’re able to address them."

The bills are backed by a wide range of humanitarian groups. Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu recently pressed McConnell to convince the Republican senators who’ve balked to pass the legislation.

"With the quick passage of this legislation, the United States could send a strong signal of its continuing global health leadership that will leverage support from other G-8 nations," Tutu wrote in a letter to McConnell. "That is why I am so deeply troubled by the impasse in the U.S. Senate regarding this legislation. I see signs that global determination to keep the promises made on AIDS, TB and malaria is waning, and I know that passage of this legislation, prior to the G-8, is crucial to regaining momentum."

Ya know, I’m just going to call this, for what it is, and that is blatant stupidity. For all the things that I have criticized President Bush for, this was not one of them. This is where I and the people who call themselves Nationalists, disagree. I believe in reigning in on spending and in spending money to foreign countries. But on humanitarian issues, I make an exception. AIDS is a terrible disease, and anything our Government can do to prevent it’s spread, should be pursued to the best of our abilities.   

Not only this, the Republican Party has a serious image problem, that is really in need of fixing, at let me just say, this is doing absolutely nothing to fix it. I mean, if the Republicans want to repair their highly tarnished image, which was all but destroyed by the actions of a Neo-Conservative Administration. This is really going to set the party back, very far back.

Bush insiders prove to be hostile witnesses

As if the country needed any further proof that the Bush Administration engaged in unconstitutional, not to mention unlawful, behavior, this little fine nugget of information drops today in the media.

Dana Milbank of the Washington Post reports that the hearing yesterday failed to produce any substantive information, but rather exposed the parties involved for the heartless, condescending, disdainful people that these men really are.

Consider a couple snippets:

Could the president ever be justified in breaking the law? "I’m not going to answer a legal opinion on every imaginable set of facts any human being could think of," Addington growled. Did he consult Congress when interpreting torture laws? "That’s irrelevant," he barked. Would it be legal to torture a detainee’s child? "I’m not here to render legal advice to your committee," he snarled. "You do have attorneys of your own."

He had the grace of Gollum as he quarreled with his questioners. In response to one of the chairman’s questions, he neither looked up nor spoke before finishing a note he was writing to himself. When Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) questioned his failure to remember conversations about interrogation techniques, he only looked at her and asked: "Is there a question pending, ma’am?" Finally, at the end of the hearing, Addington was asked whether he would meet privately to discuss classified matters. "You have my number," he said. "If you issue a subpoena, we’ll go through this again.

However, that was just a warm up of things to come, It also become very testy as the hearing went forward:

He sat slouched in his chair, scratching his mustache, as Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), chairman of the Constitution subcommittee, warned about "the unaccountable monarchy" before offering Addington five minutes to make an opening statement. Addington spoke for a minute and 12 seconds — most of which was devoted to correcting two errors in Nadler’s introduction.

"Is that the entirety of your statement?" the chairman asked.

"Yes, thank you," Addington replied. "I’m ready to answer your questions."

He sure was. When John Conyers (D-Mich.) inquired about Addington’s pet legal concept, a "unitary executive theory" that confers extreme powers on the president, Addington dished out disdain.

"I frankly don’t know what you mean by unitary theory," Addington replied.

"Have you ever heard of that theory before?"

"I see it in the newspapers all the time," Addington replied.

"Do you support it?"

"I don’t know what it is."

The usually mild Conyers was angry. "You’re telling me you don’t know what the unitary theory means?"

"I don’t know what you mean by it," Addington answered.

"Do you know what you mean by it?"

"I know exactly what I mean by it."

Addington’s insolence appeared to embolden another witness, his former administration colleague John Yoo. Yoo took Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) on a semantic spin when asked about whether a torture memo was implemented.

"What do you mean by ‘implemented’?" Yoo asked.

"Mr. Yoo," Ellison pressed, "are you denying knowledge of what the word ‘implement’ means?"

"You’re asking me to define what you mean by the word?"

"No, I’m asking you to define what you mean by the word ‘implement,’ " the exasperated lawmaker clarified.

"It can mean a wide number of things," Yoo demurred.

After several such dances around the questions (whether, for example, the president could order somebody buried alive), Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) offered his grudging respect: "You guys are great on ‘Beat the Clock,’ " he said.

"I don’t play basketball," replied the 41-year-old Yoo.

"That was a game show," Cohen explained.

As you can see, convicting these guys on charges that they broke the law, and violated the Constitution is not going to be an easy task. Because obviously, these guys are not going to cooperate with Congress or with any other sort of criminal investigation. Lew Rockwell, a fellow Libertarian minded person, says, “Maybe now they’ll impeach them”.  Lew, I respect your work and writings, but I highly doubt that the impeachment or any sort of criminal hearings will take place, until after the November election and until the next President is in office.

Telcom Companies gave $8K to Democrats who changed their vote on FISA

Last week, on June 20, the House of Representatives approved a compromise bill to amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA). The bill sets new electronic surveillance rules that effectively shield telecommunications companies from lawsuits resulting from the government’s warrantless eavesdropping on phone calls and viewing of emails of private citizens in the U.S. Approximately 40 lawsuits have been filed with potential damages totaling in the billions of dollars.

On March 14 of this year the House passed an amendment that rejected retroactive immunity for phone carriers who helped the National Security Agency carry out the illegal wiretapping program without proper warrants. Ninety-four House Democrats voted in favor of this measure–rejecting immunity–on March 14, then ‘changed’ to vote in favor of the June 20 House bill–approving immunity.

This does not surprise me in the least. Special interest has been a part of Politics and Washington D.C. for a long time. Obama claims that he is fighting against this, but I somehow doubt it.

Speaking of Illegal Immigration, check out what our feckless
Government is doing, instead of deporting the Criminal Illegal

U.S. immigration authorities have stepped up
deportations, but rather than pursue illegal aliens, they have chosen
to evict America’s church ministers from the country instead.

Honesty could cost Christian pastor Keith Thomas his citizenship
because he cooperated with immigration officials, disclosing two minor
marijuana convictions he incurred when he was a young man in England 33
years ago.

Thomas, 53, is working without pay, fearing deportation from the
U.S. and separation from his family. He was denied a green card based
on convictions that were expunged in 1982. Thomas told WND he has
documentation to prove his clean record since the 1975 conviction and
that he has always been truthful with officials, but he doesn’t
understand why people who enter the country illegally are allowed to
stay when he is facing the citizenship battle of his life.

“They’ve let 12 million illegals into the country, yet somebody has
been doing some good, paying taxes, came in legally and has been
married to an American for 27 years and has two American kids, and
they’re going to kick him out?” Thomas asked. “I told the truth. Nobody
called me out on my past. If I had not even owned up to my record, the
government would not have been able to find any of it.”
