D’oh! Obama Says “Stimulus Bill will let Caterpillar rehire people”; Caterpillar Says, No, it won’t
A rather snort worthy blurb!
President Obama today repeated the claim we asked about yesterday at the press briefing that Jim Owens, the CEO of Caterpillar, Inc., “said that if Congress passes our plan, this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off.”
Caterpillar announced 22,000 layoffs last month.
But after the president left the event, Owens said the exact opposite.
Asked if the stimulus package would be able to stop the 22,000 layoffs or not, Owens said, “I think realistically no. The truth is we’re going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again”
“It is going to take some time before that stimulus bill” means re-hiring, he said.
You’d think Obama would learn them supporters to stick to the script!

Now this is a shock š®
President Obamaās choice for Commerce Secretary, Senator Judd Gregg, withdrew his nomination on Thursday. He said there were āirresolvable conflictsā between him and the administration.
āIt has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census, there are irresolvable conflicts for me,ā Mr. Gregg said in a statement. āPrior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.ā
The withdrawal comes one week after Mr. Gregg was named to become the third Republican member of the Obama Cabinet. It is the second time that the Commerce Secretary position has been vacant within the last month.
Mr. Gregg, a Republican of New Hampshire, had not resigned his seat in the Senate. He has been away from the Senate floor this week, presumably preparing for his confirmation, and did not vote on the administrationās economic stimulus plan.

Free Speech Attack: Grand Rapids TV Station pulls American Family Association’s Program on Radical Gay Agenda
This is disgraceful and a bit local to me here. This comes via the Detroit Free Press:
WOOD-TV 8 has decided not to air a controversial, one-hour paid program sponsored by the American Family Association due to criticism from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
“Speechless: Silencing Christians” targets the “radical homosexual agenda” and has garnered enough criticism to cause the Grand Rapids television station to pull the program.
After proposing that the program be moved from the Monday slot prior to President Barack Obama’s 8 p.m. news conference to a Saturday afternoon spot, the station made the decision to pull the program altogether.
“We made a gesture of the 2-3 p.m. Saturday time period. It’s been 24 hours and we had no response,” station General Manager Diane Kniowski told the Grand Rapids Press in a statement Wednesday.
“Our station is being bombarded with calls and messages, and we find ourselves in the middle of someone else’s fight. Ours was a fair offer and we are removing ourselves from this matter,” Kniowski said.
According to the Grand Rapids Press, “In a letter promoting the program, the American Family Association asserts that most Americans get their ‘information about the homosexual movement from the secular news media and Hollywood, which not only support but promote the gay agenda. What people know is tainted by pro-homosexual propaganda.'”
The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT civil rights organization, initiated a national action alert in response, urging people to call the television station and ask that the program be canceled.
“At a time when America is striving to come together, the AFA continues to use LGBT Americans as a wedge issue to divide us from reaching our basic equality,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese.
This is just another attack on the freedoms that Americans enjoy; freedom of speech, and for that matter, who says that gay people should be equal? I don’t care what they do behind closed doors, but when they try and rewrite the Constitution, I got a problem with it. I believe that the AFA has just as much of a right to say what they wish, as does the HRC. This attempt to intimidate a TV station into not broadcasting something like this, is just another case of Liberal fascism. Plain and simple.

A Dutch MP who called the Koran a “fascist book” has been sent back to the Netherlands after attempting to defy a ban on entering the UK.
Freedom Party MP Geert Wilders had been invited to show his controversial film – which links the Islamic holy book to terrorism – in the UK’s House of Lords.
But Mr Wilders, who faces trial in his own country for inciting hatred, has been denied entry by the Home Office.
He told the BBC it was a “very sad day” for UK democracy.
The Dutch ambassador was also at Heathrow to make clear his government’s opposition to the ban on Mr Wilders entering the UK.

Furthermore, if this is the growing consensus amongst the far left and also amongst independents, who did elect him, Obama will be a one term President. Of course, if this Economic Stimulus fails, Obama will be a one term President. Because the American people are not too happy about all this money being spent. Also, Congress will pay as well. Michelle Malkin is right , the Democrats always overreach and when they do, disaster happens. Then the tide turns and the other party gets in and the same cycle repeats. Been this way since the two party system started and will be this way, until a Switzerland style of Government is implemented here. Which will never happen, too many money bags controlling the strings.

Most mainstream American voters are undoubtedly suffering from economist fatigue these days. This one calls for tax cuts; that one condemns them. One says we’re wasting hundreds of billions of dollars; the other claims that sum falls pathetically short. A plague on all their houses! Surely common sense would dictate that when Congress is doling out fat dollops of taxpayers’ money, due time should be delegated for sober consideration and debate. The administration’s coercive rush toward instant action, accompanied by apocalyptic pronouncements of imminent catastrophe, has put its own credibility on the line.
But aside from the stimulus muddle, Obama has been off to a good start. True, I was disappointed with the infestation of the new appointments list by Clinton retreads and slippery tax-dodgers. Nevertheless, I was very impressed by Obama’s relaxed, natural authority with military officers on Inauguration Day, in contrast to the early Bill Clinton’s palpable unease and exaggerated posturing. I applauded the signal Obama sent to the world by starting the closure of the GuantĆ”namo detention center. Contrary to the rote claims of conservative talk radio, there is as yet no public evidence that every individual being held at GuantĆ”namo is a proven “terrorist”– whom we would all agree should be severely punished. That is the entire point of a rational process of indictment and trial. If GuantĆ”namo became a symbol of un-American repression, it is the procrastinating, paralyzed Bush administration that should be blamed.

So where does all this leave Secretary of State Clinton?
While sympathy for Mrs. Clinton is outside the normal fare of these columns, one cannot help but feel that she is surrounded by people who are, at best, strangers and, at worst, enemies. The competition that has historically occupied secretaries of State and national security advisers seems poised to ratchet up to a new level in the current administration.
Hillaryās essential problem is that she is an outsider in the current mix. She was the adversary in the campaign, and Rice and Powers ā at the very least ā know it well, having helped to run the campaign that dethroned her. Can they ā and she ā be devoid of bitterness or at least of normal human trepidation? Not very likely.
Sorry to say it; but it’s a good place for the old bitch. Especially after the way she conducted herself during this campaign. The ol’ biddy acted like Barack Obama was supposed to just roll over and die; and she get the fucking office of President. Why? Because her husband got a head job from an intern? Please.Ā Some of us have not forgotten what happened at the Waco Seige, of which her Husband was a accessory to murder.
So, as far as I am concerned, the less damage that this woman causes, while she is serving as Obama’s Secretary of State, the better.

Huckabee’s Folly
This is one of those stories that forced me, to actually go back and make sure that I did not blog on it previously; and so I did and I can safely say, that I was not one of the people that fell for this story. (whew!)
Once again, Mike Huckabee is talking out his rather large anal orifice. According to a report in politico.com:
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee warned supporters Tuesday that the $828 billion stimulus package is āanti-religious.ā
In an e-mail that was also posted on his blog ahead of the Senateās passage, Huckabee wrote: āThe dust is settling on the ābipartisanā stimulus bill and one thing is clear: It is anti-religious.ā
The former Republican presidential candidate pointed to a provision in both the House and Senate versions banning higher education funds in the bill from being used on a āschool or department of divinity.ā
āYou would think the ACLU drafted this bill,ā Huckabee said. āFor all of the talk about bipartisanship, this Congress is blatantly liberal.ā
āEmilyās List, radical environmental groups, etc. all have a seat at the decision making table in Washington these days,ā he continued. āNancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are in charge and they are working with an equally āprogressiveā President Obama (remember his voting record is more liberal than Ted Kennedy!).ā
There is only one little problem with this whole story. Mike Huckabee is, as always; with those on the far religious right; Wrong.

Letās look at the language in the stimulus bill thatās causing this freak-out, shall we?
PROHIBITED USES OF FUNDS. – No funds awarded under this section may be used for – (C) modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities – (i) used for sectarian instruction, religious worship, or a school or department of divinity; or (ii) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission.
Apparently weāre supposed to just forget about that pesky old Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the US Constitution, which states:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…
The government does not fund religious schools or churches for this very reason, and the language in the stimulus bill is absolutely consistent with the Constitution of the United States.
Mike Huckabee is feeding raw meat to Christian fundamentalists, but apparently heās forgotten that if you revoke the Establishment Clause for Christian schools and churches, you also have to revoke it for Jewish and Muslim schools and houses of worship. For some reason, I donāt think that would meet with Huckās approval.
There are plenty of things in the stimulus bill to be unhappy about, but this issue is being cynically distorted by people like Huckabee and DeMint to stir up the far right religious wing of the GOP.
And by the way, Huckabee, DeMint, and World Net Daily have another thing in common; theyāre all in favor of teaching creationism in public schoolsāanother violation of the Establishment Clause.
Which is exactly what Huckabee, WorldNetDaily and the rest of the far right wing, Zionist types want to do:
āI have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution,ā Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. āBut I believe itās a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And thatās what we need to do ā to amend the Constitution so itās in Godās standards rather than try to change Godās standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.ā
….and there you have it. The entire far right wing agenda of the Religious or Christian right in America. Subvert the Constitution of the United States of America and make America into a Christian theocracy, instead of a secular Republic that it was founded as. A secular republic which paid a feeble homage to a “God”, and not to Jesus Christ, as claimed by some on the extreme far right. You want to know why these people did this? Because they were quite wise, those who had fled Great Britain and the religious persecution that existed there at the time, knew that if they founded the United States with a language that paid homage to a particular deity or type of Religion; that they would be opening the door to same sort of persecution that the founders experienced in Great Britain.
What I blogged about above, is why I have always been gun shy, so to speak, about aligning myself with the Republican Party.Ā Because of the faction of those within that party who want to do that very thing. Most of them have left and joined the Constitution Party.Ā But there are those still within the party, who’s mind still go back to 1980, when Reagan was elected and the majority of the Republican Party was living in the delusion that the United States was going to become some Christian Republic of some sort. Needless to say, and thankfully, that did not happen. Not because I do not love the Lord, but because I happen to believe the full separation of Church and State and I reject the doctrines of the Christian Right and the Zionist movement as un-scriptural and un-Constitutional and at times bordering on a Fascist State. Freedom of Religion and FROM Religion is a right that I cherish and will fight for on this Blog, as long as I am able.

New Hampshire Draws the line in the sand….

The New Hampshire state legislature took an unbelievably bold step Monday by introducing a resolution to declare certain actions by the federal government to completely totally void and warning that certain future acts will be viewed as a ābreach of peaceā with the states themselves that risks ānullifying the Constitution.ā
This act by New Hampshire is a clear warning to the federal government that they could face being stripped of their power by the States (presumably through civil war!
The remarkable document outlines with perfect clarity, some basics long forgotten. For instance, it reminds Congress āThat the Constitution of the United States, having delegated to Congress a power to punish treason, counterfeiting the securities and current coin of the United States, piracies, and felonies committed on the high seas, and offences against the law of nations, slavery, and no other crimes whatsoever;. . . . . therefore all acts of Congress which assume to create, define, or punish crimes, other than those so enumerated in the Constitution are altogether void, and of no force;ā
Federal gun crime laws? Void. Federal drug crime laws? Void. The gazzillion other federal criminal laws that deal with anything other than the specific enumerated crimes? ALL VOID.

Members of the Black Press not Happy with President Obama
I have some very different feelings than you think about this story, I will explain below…:
After the first black president completed his first prime-time press conference, the black press was red hot.
“We were window dressing,” said Hazel Edney, a reporter with the National Newspaper Publishers Association, also known as the Black Press of America. “We were nothing more than window dressing.”
As the media filed into the stately White House East Room on Monday night, the reporter was shocked to find herself in the front row. Alongside her were the top news agencies, Associated Press, Reuters; also up front, 86-year-old Helen Thomas, who started covering presidents 50 years ago.
Alongside the most prominent journalists in America was Tiffany Cross from Black Entertainment Television. Like Miss Edney, she didn’t know why she was in first-class while all the television networks – every single one – was exiled to the steerage compartment.
“I really don’t know why I’m up here,” Miss Cross said with a shy smile.
While most on the front row got to pose a question to President Obama, the two reporters from the black press did not. Nor did any other black-press reporter, for that matter.
“This was like Reagan, when he’d put all the blacks up front,” said another prominent but visibly peeved black-press reporter who asked to remain anonymous. “He oughta’ be ashamed.”
As I said above, I have mixed feelings about this report; I tend to believe that this report is one those “Let’s stir the pot and see what happens,” kind of reports. President Obama, to his credit, did not run a “Black Power” Presidential campaign, if he had done so, the American people would have been turn off and President Obama would not have made it out of the Primary.
As much as I respect the reporting of the Washington Times and their Conservative stance, I believe that this story is nothing more of the rattling of the race baiting sabers that the Far Right Wing bunch are known for. Yes, that is correct, I am a moderate Conservative and I am admitting that there is a certain bit of reverse race baiting that goes on in those circles. It is a sad fact, but it is the truth.
Former Lieutenant Governor of New York says Stimulus contains rationed medicine
This is President Barack Obama’s idea of economic revival?
The former lieutenant governor of New York is warning that the $50 billion that President Obama expects to spend in the next few years on a nationwide digital health records system for every individual easily could, and probably will, result in rationed medical care.
WND recently reported on a little-discussed provision in Obama’s plan that would demand every American submit to a government program for electronic medical records without a choice to opt out, raising alarms for privacy advocates.
Privacy advocates said patients might be startled to discover personal information could be shared electronically with, perhaps, millions of people, including documentation on abortions, mental health problems, patient non-compliance, lawsuits against doctors and sexual problems.
Sue A. Blevins, president of the Institute for Health Freedom, said unless people have the right to decide “if and when” their health information is shared, there is no real privacy.
Now Betsy McCaughey, former lieutenant governor of New York and an adjunct senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, has released a commentary warning about the likelihood of rationed care ā or a health care system that simply provides treatment when it determines the cost-benefit ratio for the treatment and the patient meets its guidelines.
Obama plans to spend $50 billion “over five years” to create a system of electronic health records for every person who sees a doctor.
“Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion,” wrote McCaughey. “These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.”
“If the Obama administration’s economic stimulus bill passes ā¦ in its current form, seniors in the U.S. will face ā¦ rationing. Defenders of the system say that individuals benefit in younger years and sacrifice later.”
Other nations that utilize such programs typically deny costly treatments to patients who are senior citizens, and McCaughey warns that would be the case in the United States, too.
If this report is even remotely true; this would be the same thing as what happened in Germany during World War II and to certain extent here in the United States as well. The very idea of rationing medicine to children who need it most, is about the most despicable thing I ever heard.Ā I think that this would be good time to stand up and call your senators and demand that this provision be removed from the bill.
I will also say this, that if this stimulus bill fails to deliver all the “Pie in the Sky” promises that Obama is say that it will. He will be a one term President. The people will not be lied to, as I blogged about last night, the far left is already angry over the Obama continued use of Bush tactics, when it comes to trials of the terrorists. So, watch what happens with this Stimulus, if it flops, so will Obama’s approval ratings.

Until the American people demand that their elected members of Congress live up to their duties and responsibilities under the Constitution, they will continue to have their pockets picked clean by these corrupt banksters in New York City (and London) and their contemptible facilitators in Washington, D.C.
Congression Budget Office says the Economic Slump will end mid-2009
This is quite interesting:
The non-partisan Congression Budget Office reports the current economic slump will end sometime around mid-2009.
Keep in mind Obama himself admits any effect he thinks his government expansion will have on the economy won’t take place until 2010 — well after the slump will end anyway.
Between that, and the CBO’s research last week showing Obama plan will cause long-term damage to the economy, and that the economy will bounce back faster without the package, why is the Senate even considering a $1,100,000,000,000.00 Frankenstein’s moster of wealth transfers and fatter government?
It probably has much to do with the fact much of the money lines the pockets of groups that deliver votes to Democrats, and much of that borrowed taxpayer money could even end up in Democrat campaign accounts by way of funneling through labor unions, ACORN and such.
The only thing the package appears to be stimulating are government growth and Democrat vote-delivering mechanisms.
