Crazy Video of a kid threatening the President of the United States.

No, this isn’t a joke. I saw this earlier today, but because I figured it would get yanked, I did not blog on it.

But it seems it is still there. Believe it or not, some idiot kid, has recorded a threat to President of the United States. Of course, he’s a black kid, and a Obama supporter.

Now I’m not a big fan of the President, at all, nor his Political Party, But threats?!?!? Yikes! Time out Surprise That’s totally crazy!

Doesn’t anyone remember the young lady who posted a threatening picture of the President on her website, and got a visit for the Secret Service? I have to wonder aloud, will they pay this kid a visit? Or will they let him skate because he’s….do I dare say it? because he’s black?

It should be an interesting story to follow, I am surprised that Fox News and the other Media outlets haven’t reported on this one yet.

Did the Pentagon try and shape the war’s image?

Red Meat for the Democrats, but it doesn’t surprise me. Of course, Some are living in denial. Some more than others

The Article: Behind TV Analysts, Pentagon’s Hidden Hand (Via New York Times)

In the summer of 2005, the Bush administration confronted a fresh wave of criticism over Guantánamo Bay. The detention center had just been branded “the gulag of our times” by Amnesty International, there were new allegations of abuse from United Nations human rights experts and calls were mounting for its closure.

I’d head on over and read it, it is a 11 page report on how the Government attempted to shape the image of the war, Gitmo and the whole deal. It is no big surprise to me. See, I know how Neo-Conservatives work, they know no bounds. War is just a means to justify making a profit. Even it means sacrificing some of our own. Now, I won’t sit here and attempt to compare Neo-Conservatives to Nazi’s, that’s going a wee bit overboard. But there are striking similarities. But to say that they’re exactly alike, that’s pushing it. Even I won’t get drawn into such foolishness.

Now, before anyone accuses me of being a Liberal, and just hating conservatives, Let me set you straight, I grew up in Church, I have the Christian morals instilled in me as a child. I know that Homosexuality is immoral, I do not believe in gay rights, at all. I believe abortion, of any sort, is quite frankly, murder.

However, I also know that there is evil within the Conservative Party. The Neo-Conservatives, who are, made of, or at least originally were, made up of ex-Democrats, who brought their warmongering mentality with them. They crossed over, when the Democrat Party began to embrace the civil rights movement. Some of you might remember the Dixiecrat debacle, that was the first wave, the second wave was in 1964, when the civil rights bill was passed.

Many Democrat’s and most real Conservatives, felt that the bill was wrong, in that the civil rights act should have been a State issue and not one of Federal Government. Notably, one of those people was Barry Goldwater, A Conservative, of whom many Liberals hold up today as some sort of a hero. I just don’t understand, why some Liberal talk show hosts, claim to love a party, who in fact, turned on their father’s in 1964, and painted him as mentally unstable. Odd bunch they are.

Another thing that I’d like to point out is that not every person in America, who holds to any sort of Conservative convictions, considers the Republican Party to be on the mark. One only need go to NewsWithViews and WorldNetDaily to see that there are many people out there that just feel that the G.O.P. is not the party of old. Now I realize that those links might generate a giggle among some of you, and yes, there is some propaganda on those sites. I don’t deny that. But there’s a whole bunch of truth on them sites too. On average, the truth to propaganda ratio on those sites is about 10 to 3, really. This is why I read them.

The people that quite frankly disturb me, are the people who blindly accept what the G.O.P. says and does, as pure Gospel, those are the strange folk.

The Story:  Bush Admits To Knowledge of Torture Authorization by Top Advisers (Via American Civil Liberties Union)

The American Civil Liberties Union is calling on Congress to demand an independent prosecutor to investigate possible violations by the Bush administration of laws including the War Crimes Act, the federal Anti-Torture Act, and federal assault laws.

“No one in the executive branch of government can be trusted to fairly investigate or prosecute any crimes since the head of every relevant department, along with the president and vice president, either knew or participated in the planning and approval of illegal acts,” said Caroline Fredrickson, Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office. “Congress cannot look the other way; it must demand an independent investigation and independent prosecutor.”

Fredrickson added, "Congress is duty-bound by the Constitution not only to hold the president, vice president, and all civil officers to account, but it must also send a message to future presidents that it will use its constitutional powers to prevent illegal, and immoral conduct

I think we got a better chance of a Meteor hitting the planet, than this ever happening, while Bush is in office.

I wish the ACLU all the best on it, but I just don’t think it will happen.

Quote:

Alberto R. Gonzales, like many others recently unemployed, has discovered how difficult it can be to find a new job. Mr. Gonzales, the former attorney general, who was forced to resign last year, has been unable to interest law firms in adding his name to their roster, Washington lawyers and his associates said in recent interviews.

Well, I would guess so, seeing how he basically assisted George W. Bush destroy  America’s Constitution.

He has, through friends, put out inquiries, they said, and has not found any takers. What makes Mr. Gonzales’s case extraordinary is that former attorneys general, the government’s chief lawyer, are typically highly sought.

A longtime loyalist to George W. Bush dating to their years together in Texas, Mr. Gonzales was once widely viewed as a strong candidate to be the first Hispanic-American nominated one day to the Supreme Court. A graduate of Harvard Law School, he carried an impressive personal story as the child of poor Mexican immigrants.

Despite those credentials, he left office last August with a frayed reputation over his role in the dismissal of several federal prosecutors and the truthfulness of his testimony about a secret eavesdropping program. He has had no full-time job since his resignation, and his principal income has come from giving a handful of talks at colleges and before private business groups.

“Maybe the passage of time will provide some opportunity for him,” said one Washington lawyer who was aware of an inquiry to his firm from a Gonzales associate. “I wouldn’t say ‘rebuffed,’ ” said the lawyer, who asked his name not be used because the situation being described was uncomfortable for Mr. Gonzales. “I would say ‘not taken up.’ ”

Party Loyalty has it’s downside, eh Gonzo? Karma is such a terrible thing.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7 KJV)

Republicans Reportedly "transitioning" away from the FISA Telecom Immunity fight….

Glenn Greenwald Reports that The Hill is reporting the following:

I’m still traveling and so have only a little bit of time to comment, but The Hill is reporting that the GOP is de-prioritizing their efforts to enact the Rockefeller/Cheney FISA bill:

"House Republicans are poised to shift their focus from national security to the economy, hoping to rally opposition to what they claim are Democratic plans to raise taxes amid the economic downturn.

Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) is expected to announce Thursday that the House GOP floor emphasis will transition away from passing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and earmark reform to "stop the tax hike.""

I tend to think that the Republicans, at least the ones in the Senate realize that they are not going to win this fight and that it could cost them some serious votes in the coming election. So, I tend to think they’ve changed their priorities.

Unlike some of the more of the ardent Right Wingers or as the rest of the World calls them, the Right Wing Lunatic Fridge, I know that if these companies get immunity, America’s Justice system would be totally undermined. Now, do I believe that the Bush Administration broke the law? I do not know that, as I have zero proof of such claim.

My feelings are, if the Bush Administration has done nothing wrong, then what do they have to hide? If they’ve done nothing wrong, they should not have a problem with the investigations or lawsuit, because they would be vindicated.

Unlike some of the more far right Conservatives, I do not believe that Corporate power should be protected. Every American, of any Religious persuasion, and yes, that does include Muslim, have the right to legal recourse, if they feel that they’ve been unfairly investigated. That is one of our Nation’s founding principles.

The Article: FBI probe: Lieberman campaign to blame for crashing own Web site – The Advocate

A federal investigation has concluded that U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman’s 2006 re-election campaign was to blame for the crash of its Web site the day before Connecticut’s heated Aug. 8 Democratic primary.

The FBI office in New Haven found no evidence supporting the Lieberman campaign’s allegations that supporters of primary challenger Ned Lamont of Greenwich were to blame for the Web site crash.

Lieberman, who was fighting for his political life against the anti-Iraq war candidate Lamont, implied that joe2006.com was hacked by Lamont supporters.

"The server that hosted the joe2006.com Web site failed because it was overutilized and misconfigured. There was no evidence of (an) attack," according to the e-mail.

A program that could have detected a legitimate attack was improperly configured, the e-mail states.

The Article: Frustrated Senators See No Exit Signs (via washingtonpost.com)

Asked repeatedly yesterday what "conditions" he is looking for to begin substantial U.S. troop withdrawals from Iraq after this summer’s scheduled drawdown, Army Gen. David H. Petraeus said he will know them when he sees them. For frustrated lawmakers, it was not enough.

"A year ago, the president said we couldn’t withdraw because there was too much violence," said Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.). "Now he says we can’t afford to withdraw because violence is down." Asked Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.): "Where do we go from here?"

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said: "I think people want a sense of what the end is going to look like."

But the bottom line was that there was no bottom line. In testimony before the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees, Petraeus, the top U.S. military commander in Iraq, and U.S. Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker echoed what they said seven months ago in their last update to Congress — often using similar words. Iraq’s armed forces continue to improve, overall levels of violence are lower than they were last year, and political reconciliation is happening, albeit still more slowly than they would like.

That’s because with this Presidential Administration, there is no exit sign!

That’s the way his Neo-Conservative planners wanted it. To keep us in that war forever! That’s because Neo-Conservatives believe in perpetual war! Even at the expense of the Nation’s Military.

That’s Neo-Con Game, and we’re playing it…. At our Tax Expense.

The Article: For the Record: Seriously, What is the FBI Doing? (via Investigative Project on Terrorism)

Quote:

In February, we exposed the latest FBI (and CIA) outrage, advertising for recruits in a pro-terrorist, anti-American magazine, the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs (WRMEA) – (see: Looking Under a Rock: FBI and CIA Hit New Low in Recruitment Drive). Both of our top national security agencies had placed online advertisements on the webpage of a magazine that included a hagiography to a terrorist the FBI had worked almost a decade to investigate and prosecute, Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative Sami Al-Arian.

Just over a month later, it is clear that the FBI has learned nothing. The agency is advertising for recruits in the Arab American News, another publication with a long history of support for terrorism, terrorists and terrorist organizations. The current edition has an editorial titled, "Let our people go!," under an ad banner recruiting for the FBI (which also appears on the home page of the website), about accused Iraqi spy Muthanna al-Hanooti, which states:

Arab American political activist Muthanna al-Hanooti was arrested and jailed this week by federal officials upon arrival at Detroit Metropolitan Airport returning from a trip to the Middle East. The following day he was charged with two counts of conspiracy and three counts of lying to the FBI about working for agents with the Iraqi Intelligence Service under Saddam Hussein. The Article:  GOP Rep. Darrell Issa under fire from everywhere after 9/11 comments – (via New York Daily News)

The California congressman who called the Sept. 11 attacks "simply" a plane crash ran for cover Wednesday under a barrage of ridicule from fellow Republicans, first responders and victims’ families.

San Diego GOP Rep. Darrell Issa was under siege for suggesting the federal government had already done enough to help New York cope with "a fire" that "simply was an aircraft" hitting the World Trade Center.

"That is a pretty distorted view of things," said Frank Fraone, a Menlo Park, Calif., fire chief who led a 67-man crew at Ground Zero. "Whether they’re a couple of planes or a couple of missiles, they still did the same damage

Oy…. I’ve heard of "Open Mouth, Insert Foot", But Man, this is like over the top… Doh

He’s from California, Which says quite a bit, and he’s a Republican. Interesting combination.

I also notice his last name, I wonder what his nationality is? Let’s see here, via Wikipedia:

Darrell Issa’s mother is of Bohemian German descent and his father is of Lebanese Christian descent. Issa was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in a Jewish neighborhood and worked for a rabbi. Issa enlisted in the Army during his senior year of high school, where he served as a bomb disposal technician.

Well, that explains it all! I guess nationality loyalty is thinker than loyalty to the United States.  Why didn’t he just come out and say the 9/1 hijackers were heroes?

Attack of the Lesbian Lawyers!

No, not her! She’s getting married. Rolling on the floor

Go read the story over on NPR:

The Justice Department’s inspector general is investigating whether a career attorney in the department was dismissed from her job because of rumors that she is a lesbian. The case grew out of a larger inquiry into the firings of U.S. attorneys and politicization at Justice under former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Several people interviewed by the inspector general’s staff described the case to NPR and said they came away with the impression that the Attorney General’s office decided not to renew Leslie Hagen’s contract because of the talk about her sexual orientation. Hagen received the highest possible ratings for her work as liaison between the Justice Department and the U.S. attorneys’ committee on Native American issues. Her final job evaluation lists five categories for supervisors to rank her performance. For each category, a neat X fills the box marked, "Outstanding." And at the bottom of the page, under "overall rating level," she also got the top mark: Outstanding.

The form is dated February 1, 2007. Several months before that evaluation, Hagen was told her contract would not be renewed.

Here’s where Goodling gets into the Picture:

The official line on Hagen’s dismissal was that contracts like hers are a privilege. Rotating new people through the job each year gives more people a chance to serve.

But what happened next seems to undermine that explanation. Internal Justice Department documents obtained by NPR show that soon after Hagen was let go, two people in her office had their contracts renewed for another year.

And Hagen’s post remained vacant months after she left.

Justice Department e-mails obtained by NPR show that Gonzales’s senior counsel Monica Goodling had a particular interest in Hagen’s duties. A few months before Hagen was let go, according to one e-mail, Goodling removed part of Hagen’s job portfolio — the part dealing with child exploitation and abuse.

Goodling, who left the Justice Department last year, declined through her lawyer to comment on the matter.

Well, I would guess so! Especially if she did do this. It could come back to haunt her.

Should be interesting to follow….

I could go one and rant and rave about how this Administration was corrupt from the ground up. But what more can I say, that hasn’t been said by people who get paid much better money then me? Not much at all.

Editorial: In defense of Senator Debbie Stabenow

I am not writing this to defend the actions of Senator Stabenow’s husband.  The actions of Thomas Athans were deplorable.  If I were the senator, I would be seeing a lawyer and relieving this man of his burden of marriage.

However because the story of Thomas Athans has become the catalyst of great political fodder and blogger ridicule, and outright mocking by those of opposite political ideology.  Because of this sort of nonsense, I am writing a simple defense of Senator Stabenow as a Senator of the State of Michigan.

I am quite aware of Senator Stabenow’s political stance, However, I am also aware of her performance in the Senate.  I can personally testify to her consistency in addressing issues brought before her.  I have personally e-mailed TONS of issues, brought to my attention by the John Birch Society, to Senator Stabenow’s office.

Senator Stabenow’s office was always faithful to reply to my e-mails to her, sometimes, the replies were even personal, and not a computer generated response, even though I am sure that some of the issues brought to her attention were in direct opposition to her political stance.

Further, of all the political representatives in my local area, other than one other political official for my local area, Senator Stabenow was the ONLY political official who responded to my e-mails, sometimes Senator Stabenow would reply to me personally via United States Mail, Even though she did not have to.

Therefore, I feel that this smearing by the Republican and Conservative Bloggers is just unwarranted.  We are not dealing with a seedy politician here.  We are dealing with a very nice woman, who has a husband who is an idiot.

I think that the Blogosphere needs to take a step back and leave this woman to sort out her own affairs.  I hope that she will do the right thing in the situation regarding her husband.

Article: Pentagon Admits Mistake in Arms Shipment (via AP)

The U.S. military’s mistaken delivery to Taiwan of electrical fuses for an intercontinental ballistic missile raised concerns Tuesday over U.S.-China relations and triggered a broad investigation into the security of Pentagon weapons.

While the shipment did not include nuclear materials, the error is particularly sensitive because China vehemently opposes U.S. arms sales to Taiwan. Four of the cone-shaped fuses were shipped to Taiwanese officials in fall 2006 instead of the helicopter batteries they had ordered.

Somebody somewhere is either out of a job or in some seriously hot water.

Needless to say the big wigs at the Pentagon are not amused.

"I can not emphasize forcefully enough how strong the secretary feels about this matter and how disconcerting it is to him," Henry told reporters. He added that in an organization the size of the Defense Department there will be mistakes, but that "they cannot be tolerated in the arena in strategic systems, whether they are nuclear or only associated equipment, as was in this case."

In a comment directed at the Chinese concerns, Henry said the error does not suggest that U.S. policies on arms sales to Taiwan have changed.

Michigan Political Leaders React to the Mayor’s legal troubles

VIA WXYZ-TV:

State leaders ranging from U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow to Gov. Granholm Granholm are weighing in on the charges filed against Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff.

REP. CANDICE MILLER

"I listened closely to the statement by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy and today everyone was put on notice that no one is above the law." – Rep. Candice Miller, a Republican from Macomb County’s Harrison Township

L. BROOKS PATTERSON

"What we are witnessing is the 21st-century rerun of a classic Greek tragedy: fallen heroes, lost opportunities, unfulfilled promise." – L. Brooks Patterson, Republican Oakland County executive

GOV. GRANHOLM

"As the former attorney general and a former federal prosecutor, the governor realizes as well as anyone that it’s important the legal process be allowed to work." – Liz Boyd, spokeswoman for Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a fellow Democrat

SEN. DEBBIE STABENOW

"This is very disturbing and I hope that it is resolved as soon as possible." – U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich.

Additionally, The Governor of Michigan, said she will NOT remove the Mayor of Detroit, unless he in convicted of these charges. I guess Party loyalty goes a long way. Plus, she is possibly worried, that she could be perceived as a white woman, persecuting a black man. Identity Politics? You decide.

Funding the very terrorists we’re supposed to be fighting against

That’s right folks.

Via WorldNetDaily:

Just days after it was announced the U.S. would transfer $150 million directly to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ government, members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group, the declared military wing of Abbas’ Fatah party, were told they would receive cash grants, WND has learned.

According to Palestinian militant sources familiar with the issue, earlier this month, 20 members of the Brigades leadership in the West Bank city of Ramallah complained to PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad they did not have enough money to pay their bills, including, for many of them, rent for their apartments.

Last week, according to the informed sources, Fayyad told the complaining Brigades leaders he would provide them with a one-time grant of $3,000 each, or $60,000 to the Ramallah-based Brigades leadership.

The sources said after Brigades leaders in other West Bank cities, including Hebron and Nablus, heard of the grants, they also demanded pay increases.

"Some of the other fighters accused Fayyad of favoring the Brigades leaders in Ramallah since that’s where Fayyad lives," said a militant source. "So he gave grants also to other cells."

It wasn’t just Obama’s Passport…..

So, it wasn’t a conspiracy after all…

The Story: Obama urges inquiry into passport snooping (via CNN.com)

Sen. Barack Obama called for an investigation Friday into how the security of the passport files of the three remaining presidential candidates was breached.

The State Department admitted Friday that the passport files of Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. John McCain had been accessed without authorization.

"One of the things that the American people count on in their interactions with any level of government is that if they have to disclose personal information, that it stay personal and stay private," Obama said in Portland, Oregon.

"And when you have not just one but a series of attempts to tap into people’s personal records, that’s a problem not just for me but for how our government is functioning," he said.

Obama said he expected "a full and thorough investigation" by the administration in conjunction with congressional oversight committees.

Now if I were one of them overly paranoid Liberals, I would say this was released to stop the coverage of it, as a attempt to roust out Obama from the race or something silly like that. Truth is, is was most likely just some bonehead who thought that they’d be really cool and access the info.

However, it does speak the absolute incompetence of the State Department. This should have been released to the Candidates and the Media the very minute it happened.

Many questions linger and will most likely be brought out eventually, Most likely when the offending parties are safely out of office.
