Keith Olbermann’s Worst Person in World

Silver: Washington Post for caving to Bill O’s Complaints.

Bronze: To Joe Libermann for now praising Obama because of his standing in the polls.

Gold: To Chad Michael Morisette of West Hollywood, California. Doing something God Awfully stupid.

Let me just say a little something about that last one. I give Keith Olbermann royal hell on this Blog. Especially when he says or does something incredibly stupid; This is not one of those times. It is this writers opinion that Keith Olbermann did what I consider to be one of the greatest things that a news anchor or Political talking head could do and that is risk the wrath of his own viewers and party to make a statement to the public that this sort of nonsense, like the Palin in a nose thing, is just not acceptable.

While I might not agree with the finer points of Keith’s overall Politics, his call to common decency and decrying of images of violence is not something that I can fault him for.

Sigh…. Why does John McCain say stupid stuff like this?

Oy…. Talk about out of touch… He thinks he’s going to win?

McCain guarantees victory Via Politico.com

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he can “guarantee” a win on Nov. 4 in a squeaker victory that won’t be clear until late that night.

McCain spoke amid signs of a tightening race, and reports of renewed determination among his staff, which is badly outgunned in both money and manpower.

“I guarantee you that two weeks from now, you will see this has been a very close race, and I believe that I’m going to win it,” McCain told interim "Meet" moderator Tom Brokaw. “We’re going to do well in this campaign, my friend. We’re going to win it, and it’s going to be tight, and we’re going to be up late.”

I think the old duffer is losing his flipping noodle if you ask me. Hell, even David Frum at the NRO knows it’s a damn lost cause!

Quote:

The themes and messages that are galvanizing the crowds for Palin are bleeding Sens. John Sununu in New Hampshire, Gordon Smith in Oregon, Norm Coleman in Minnesota and Susan Collins in Maine. The Palin approach might have been expected to work better in more traditionally conservative states such as Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia, but they have not worked well enough to compensate for the weak Republican economic message at a moment of global financial crisis. Result: the certain loss of John Warner’s Senate seat in Virginia, the probable loss of Elizabeth Dole’s in North Carolina, an unexpectedly tough fight for Saxby Chambliss’s in Georgia — and an apparent GOP surrender in Colorado, where it looks as if the National Republican Senatorial Committee has already pulled its ads from the air.

The fundraising challenge only makes things worse. The Republican senatorial and congressional committees have badly underperformed compared with their Democratic counterparts — and the Republican National Committee, which has done well, is directing its money toward the presidential campaign, rather than to local races. (It was RNC funds, not McCain ’08 money, that paid the now-famous $150,000 for Palin’s campaign wardrobe, for example.) This is a huge mistake.

In these last days before the vote, Republicans need to face some strategic realities. Our resources are limited, and our message is failing. We cannot fight on all fronts. We are cannibalizing races that we must win and probably can win in order to help a national campaign that is almost certainly lost. In these final 10 days, our goal should be: senators first.

I think McCain needs to just keep his damned mouth shut about Guaranteeing a win and run this election out and be happy he gets the votes that he does get. Otherwise, the damned G.O.P. is going to be even more, of what it is now; a damned laughing stock.

RNC Spends $150K to make Sarah Palin look good

Sorry gang, got a late start today. Slept till noon. SleepyYawn I needed to catch up. Didn’t get much sleep the last few days. Because Dad was in the hospital. So, I’m a little sluggish today. Sigh

—–

The big story today is that the RNC spent $150K on wardrobe and make up on Sarah Palin and some within the Republican Party are not happy about it.

The reactions are mixed:

Michelle Malkin says “Heckuva job, RNC”

John McCormack at the Weekly Standard wants to know “How much is Hillary Clinton’s Wardrobe worth?

Don Surber says it was money well spent and based on some of these, well, interesting photos of her, I think he’s correct. Hee heeWinking

Ann Althouse wants to know if it is legal or not.

My Take: At this point, I do not think that this will all matter at all. Considering how John McCain is doing in the polls.  I believe that this is a distraction generated by the Liberal media to cover up for the huge gaffes made by Joe Biden.

Further more, I believe it is a distraction to focus away from the real facts about Barack Obama. In fact Ed over at Hotair.com and a few of his friends, have made up a very good case against Barack Obama. I suggest that you read it before voting.

The Sad truth about Sarah Palin

My Mom, of all people, sent me this… I think it speaks the truth myself.

This comes from Brasscheck TV:

…and if the polls are any indication, The public is quite informed about her too.

I think we’re about to see four to eight years of solid Liberal rule in this country.

Thank You Mr. Bush for royally fucking your Political Party, Conservatism and yes, Libertarianism squarely in the ass. You beedy-eyed fuck.

Needless to say, this election is going to be historic.

Yes, This is wrong too! – Tires slashed at an Obama Rally

For the record, I do think stuff like this is wrong too, very wrong. Angry

This story via the FayObeserver:

Someone slashed the tires of at least 30 vehicles parked outside the Crown Coliseum on Sunday during a rally for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating. The tires were cut while people were inside the Crown Coliseum listening to speeches, said Maj. E. Wright of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Many of the damaged vehicles were parked on Wilkes Road. Representatives from Obama and Sen. John McCain’s campaigns said they were unaware of the acts.

Susan Lagana, the North Carolina communications director for Obama, said it was extremely disappointing and unfortunate that “people would have to experience something like that.”

Mario Diaz, communications director for McCain, did not respond to a call late Sunday.

Sarah Revis, who lives on Wilkes Road, said the slashed tires left several women, including a single mother and a toddler, stranded and upset. At least four tow trucks were sent to move the vehicles from the Crown, Revis said.

“This is an embarrassment to this city and to me as a citizen,” Revis said. “I’ve seen women out here crying and men cussing. This is a crying shame.”

Lynne Steenstra said she thought that the slashings were scare tactics designed to keep her and others from supporting Obama.

Even though it cost her roughly $120 to get her Dodge Caravan towed and fixed, Steenstra said the act would not intimidate her from voting.

“It hasn’t deterred us one bit,” Steenstra said. “It has only encouraged us more. I just hope whoever did this pays the price.”

Yes, I do believe that this is wrong, damned wrong. Not only is it destruction of personal property, it could very well be voter intimidation. We live in the United States of America, not Russia. We are supposed to be able to vote for whomever we wish, this sort of thing, whether it is being done by Liberals OR Conservatives is wrong and should be dealt with as harshly as the law allows.

The sobering truth is that there is hate on both sides of the Political fence, and folks, I’m just going to say it, it’s damn wrong and it needs to stop.

I am sad to report that we will most likely see more of this as November 4’th approaches, I hope that McCain and Obama do the right thing and condemn these actions. While politics is a contact sport and this election is an important one. This sort of petty nonsense is totally uncalled for.

We are Americans my friends, let’s not forget this. Vandalism is not the way to solve our nations problems or to settle this election.

Outrage! – Now the Liberal loons are shooting at McCain’s bus!

This comes via Mark Williams:

(Sunday, October 19 – Filed by Mark Williams in Raton, New Mexico with the Stop Obama Tour)  We learned at this morning’s Stop Obama Rally here that the McCain/Palin Straight Talk Express came through town yesterday.  It arrived with a window shattered by a .22 caliber weapon.  It had also been hit by an unknown number of paint balls from a paint ball gun or guns.  There were reportedly no injuries and neither candidate was on board.

One local man who saw the damage and spoke with the McCain/Palin staffers said the attack(s) had occurred in southern New Mexico that same day.  The Express is traveling the country independent of the candidates, handing out campaign materials.

Sarah Palin is stumping in of all places Roswell, New Mexico today and then roughly back the way we came with an event at the Henderson, Nevada Pavilion tomorrow and a stop in Elko, Nevada.

Now had this been Bambi’s (Obama’s) bus, this would be ALL OVER the news 24/7. But because it is McCain’s. It’s no big deal and nobody cares.

Really classy Liberals, REALLY CLASSY! AngryRolling Eyes

But remember folks, it is only the right wingers who are the haters.

Stay Classy Jon Steward

Hmmmmm. I wonder if Barry would approve of this?

Via The Weekly Standard

Speaking to a college audience in Boston, Mass. Friday, "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart used his stand-up routine to respond to Sarah Palin’s comments about "pro-America" parts of the country, shedding the profanity restrictions that govern his Comedy Central show.

"She said that small towns, that’s the part of the country she really likes going to because that’s the pro-America part of the country. You know, I just want to say to her, just very quickly: [expletive] you," Stewart said to raucous applause.

Palin addressed a North Carolina fund-raiser Thursday night saying, "We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe…that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation.

I can understand him not liking Sarah Palin, that is a given, he is a Liberal. But is all the nastiness needed? I know, It’s comedy, that’s not lost on me. But why is it that it’s the only the Liberals laughing?

I think that this is a sign of what’s to come, if Obama Wins.

Depressing Quotes of the Day: Rush Limbaugh and Redstate Prove my Points

Remember what I wrote earlier about Colin Powell’s endorsement of Obama?

Well, it seems that Rush Limbaugh and someone over at RedState has basically proven my point.

Rush Limbaugh wrote to Jonathan Martin the following:

“Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race,” Limbaugh wrote in an e-mail. “OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I’ll let you know what I come up with.”

As for Powell’s statement of concern this morning about the sort of Supreme Court justices a President McCain might appoint, Limbaugh wrote: “I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia. I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star [general] and secretary of state and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let’s hear it for transformational figures.”

and over at Redstate:

So Colin Powell has endorsed Obama. Let’s see, Powell is pro-abortion. So is Obama. Powell is pro-affirmative action. So is Obama. Powell has stated repeatedly that tax policy should ensure fairness. Obama likewise wants to “spread the wealth.” The endorsement of Obama only demonstrates what unpaid prognosticators could have told those million dollar a year experts years ago. Powell never was a Republican. He has been aligned with the Democrats from the day of his retirement from service.

On today’s talk show, Powell explains: “I think he is a transformational figure.” THAT’S what I’m afraid of. Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot were all transformational too, Colin.

Another note to moderate Republicans: Hey guys, are you happy with your fellow moderate? No? You should be–this is what you moderates do. They pretend in order to achieve status, and then attack the hand that feeds them–to maintain that status. Yes, you keep telling us that Palin’s conservatism is what is sinking McCain. Really? Do you think that McCain picking another moderate would have changed Powell’s position? If you do, I’ve got a nice bridge to sell you.

Affirmative action is now at its zenith here. A unqualified candidate for president who has never run anything; who has never governed anything; and who has policies precisely on line with Karl Marx–is going to be put into our highest office solely due to his race. Doubt me? Just ask if Obama would be where he is at if he were a white man. The answer is inevitable.

The Republican party must clean house or it is lost.

My goodness, the Republicans are not even trying to hide it anymore. It has went from nuance and inferring to outright blantant racism.  The part I put into red is what really disturbs me. The Republicans and Conservatives are now officially channeling McCarthy. The whole Idea is, if you cannot beat him, you slander him with racism and attempt to paint him, as some sort of communist. It is the oldest trick in the book.

The the guy from Redstate tries to claim that Moderates are ruining his party. What a damn joke. It’s the moderates that have kept the Republican Party from becoming the next Whig Party! Which is right where it is heading now. Some would say and good for it too. Myself, I think it is a sad place that the Republican Party is headed. Change is needed within that party, but not this sort of a change at all.

Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama for President of the United States

My thoughts in a moment, But first the video:

Via MSNBC:

Originally, I was going to word this article much differently. But I scrapped it. This is my take on Colin Powell’s endorsement of Obama.

At first blush, someone like me would think, “Well, he is endorsing him because he is black.” But I personally believe that it goes much deeper than that. As Colin Powell said in this video, the G.O.P. and John McCain’s campaign took a stance in this election that to even me, was disturbing. McCain and the G.O.P. basically decided to paint Obama as a terrorist by proxy.

I have written in the past on this Blog, that I have been totally disgusted at the way that McCain and the Republican Party have been handling this election and how they have painted Obama. Now, before anyone calls me a hypocrite, let me explain, I totally understand that there has been race baiting on the left. But there has also been calls to incite violence on the right as well. This has been fueled by the inferring of the McCain campaign that Obama is a Black Terrorist by proxy. This was a fatal strategy and it could possibly cause McCain to lose hard in the election. To his credit, McCain did switch gears as of recent and began harping on Obama’s statement of “Spread the Wealth”. Which lead to the liberal take down of “Joe the Plumber”.

However, it is this writers opinion, that it is, quite sadly; too little, too late. The damage is done, independents view McCain and Palin as white racists, who are out to smear and discredit a Christian black man, who is running for President. Not to mention that Economy is just not on the side of the Republicans.

Not to mention how the current President ruined it for the Republicans. His out of control spending, the war in Iraq; which is turning around for the good, much to the chagrin of the Liberals. The attorney general scandal, the spying scandal, it just goes on and on. The fact is that this election is not on the side of the Republicans. It is, as I have written many times before, the Reagan Revolution in reverse.

Which beings me to another point I feel the need to make. The Republican Party and the Conservative Movement has to realize something and it is a realization that is quite a painful one for some to swallow. The Reagan Revolution and era in politics is over. We are living in much different times, than we were in 1980. The problem is, most Conservatives still believe that it is 1980! They need to update their message, make it more relevant for this day and age.

To sum this up, I will basically say this, the endorsement of Barack Obama, by a well-known Black Republican should send a message to the Conservative community that you cannot finger a black man, who is running for President of the United States as a terrorist by proxy, because of his middle name, because of his skin color and because of people he has had past relations with. It just does not work. My only hope is, that the Republican Party and the Conservative Movement as a whole is listening to that message.

Update: My favorite quote from this interview was this:

And it is permitted to be said such things as, "Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim." Well, the correct answer is, he is not a Muslim, he’s a Christian.  He’s always been a Christian.  But the really right answer is, what if he is?  Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer’s no, that’s not America.  Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be president?

I feel strongly about this particular point because of a picture I saw in a magazine.  It was a photo essay about troops who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  And one picture at the tail end of this photo essay was of a mother in Arlington Cemetery, and she had her head on the headstone of her son’s grave.  And as the picture focused in, you could see the writing on the headstone.  And it gave his awards–Purple Heart, Bronze Star–showed that he died in Iraq, gave his date of birth, date of death.  He was 20 years old. And then, at the very top of the headstone, it didn’t have a Christian cross, it didn’t have the Star of David, it had crescent and a star of the Islamic faith.  And his name was Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan, and he was an American. He was born in New Jersey.  He was 14 years old at the time of 9/11, and he waited until he can go serve his country, and he gave his life.

The Photo that Colin Powell is referring to is this: (H/T The New Republic)

My friends, this photo says it all. We are all Americans. No matter what Rush Limbaugh or anyone else from the Republican Party might say. While I may have a disdain for those extremist Muslims, who want to destroy this nation, it is these type of Muslims like Kareem Rashad Sultan that give me hope, that the Extremism in the Muslim Religion can be destroyed once and for all.

I really must wonder, can Michelle Bachman look this woman in the eye and say that she is Un-American?

Hmmmmm: Leftist Website posts possible faked threatening voice mails?

As a rule, I am not a overly judgemental person. But something here stinks to the high heavens about this.

The leftist organzation, The People for the American Way’s website Right Wing Watch has posted two supposed voicemail threats leveled towards ACORN on thier website.

Here is what these voicemails said:

“Hi, I was just calling to let you all know that Barack Obama needs to get hung. He’s a fucking nigger, and he’s a piece of shit. You guys are fraudulent, and you need to go to hell. All the niggers on oak trees. They’re gonna get all hung honeys, they’re gonna get assassinated, they’re gonna get killed.

and

“You liberal idiots. Dumb shits. Welfare bums. You guys just fucking come to our country, consume every natural resource there is, and make a lot of babies. That’s all you guys do. And then suck up the welfare and expect everyone else to pay for your hospital bills for your kids. I just say let your kids die. That’s the best move. Just let your children die. Forget about paying for hospital bills for them. I’m not gonna do it. You guys are lowlifes. And I hope you all die.

Yes, these are disgusting, terrible and so forth.

But….

Are they even real? Listening to these voice mails makes me very suspicious. For one, the woman’s voice on the first message sounds like she is a Canadian. It also sounds like she’s reading a script. The second one also sounds like he is reading a script as well. There is truly a lack of emotion in both of these persons voices, the woman, in fact sounds like she is about to crack up laughing at what she is reading.

I do not claim to be an expert at this sort of a thing at all. But something looks and in this case, sounds very suspicious.  After all, If you are a regular reader of this Blog. You already know that the left is very good at race baiting and outright hypocrisy.

I could be wrong, but something here stinks to the high heavens and the FBI should investigate if these recordings were faked or not.

Palin on SNL – I don’t think it was that bad

Yes, I saw Sarah Palin’s little opening skit on SNL tonight.

I thought she did quite well, and Yes, I thought it to be quite funny.

However, there seems to be some who disagree.

John over at the newly redesigned Powerline Blog didn’t like the idea of her even being there:

It’s a mistake, I’m afraid. It’s not that I lack confidence in Governor Palin; I don’t. But I think it’s almost always a mistake to visit an enemy’s home turf without a clear understanding that you are among enemies.

The Saturday Night Live people are Democrats. That’s all there is to it, and they will never give Sarah Palin, or any other Republican, a fair shake. Palin is, of course, more than a match for them in a fair fight. But for a fight to be fair, it must first be acknowledged that it’s a fight. That won’t happen tonight, and it will be almost a miracle if Palin gains from the exposure.

I’m old enough to remember when President Gerald Ford appeared on Saturday Night Live. That night, he was ridiculed as a klutz, in keeping with the image he had among liberals. It was grotesquely unfair: Ford, an all-America football player at Michigan, was undoubtedly the most athletic President of modern times. But reality won’t intrude when your enemy is the editor.

News accounts indicated that the next morning, a shell-shocked Ford summoned his aides and asked who it was who thought it would be a good idea for him to appear on the television show that had been ridiculing him non-stop since he became President. I’m afraid a similar fate awaits Governor Palin.

I must be odd, I don’t consider those in comedy to be the enemy. I do not buy into that whole idea of “Those who disagree with me politically are my enemy” mentality. It causes one to become isolated. Maybe I am naive or just a bit more open minded.

Ed Driscoll, who I think has the coolest Blog design, chimes in:

It wasn’t Ford appearing on Saturday Night Live that was the real problem–it was Ron Nessen, Ford’s press secretary, who hosted the show. And as I noted shortly after President Ford passed away in 2006, in a very long post quoting from a history of SNL, as one of the writers said out of Nessen’s earshot when he agreed to the gig, “The President’s watching. Let’s make him cringe and squirm.”

As John notes, it’s guaranteed that similar thoughts were expressed this week as well.

Interesting historic take on that appearance. Let me be very straight with you all. If John McCain loses this election, I seriously highly doubt that it will have been because of Sarah Palin’s appearance on SNL. It might be because of many other factors, but this will not be one of them.

I will be the first to admit that I’m not much of a SNL watcher, as a rule, but when stuff like this happens, I do tune in. SNL’s comedy is not my bag. I’m more a three stooges or laurel and Hardy type myself. 😀

Just my take on it.

Update: The video is now up over at Huffpo, I tried to snatch the code, wouldn’t work here.  Epic Fail. 🙄

Perhaps one of the funniest things I’ve read in quite a while in Politics….

Now this is funny. Here’s an e-mail that Ben Smith received from a Republican Consultant working a Mid-western state focus group.

It’s a good thing I was not drinking anything, else I would have been asking Ben Smith for a replacement laptop.

Quote:

Reagan Dems and Independents. Call them blue-collar plus. Slightly more Target than Walmart.

Yes, the spot worked. Yes, they believed the charges against Obama. Yes, they actually think he’s too liberal, consorts with bad people and WON’T BE A GOOD PRESIDENT…but they STILL don’t give a f***. They said right out, “He won’t do anything better than McCain” but they’re STILL voting for Obama.

The two most unreal moments of my professional life of watching focus groups:

54 year-old white male, voted Kerry ’04, Bush ’00, Dole ’96, hunter, NASCAR fan…hard for Obama said: “I’m gonna hate him the minute I vote for him. He’s gonna be a bad president. But I won’t ever vote for another god-damn Republican. I want the government to take over all of Wall Street and bankers and the car companies and Wal-Mart run this county like we used to when Reagan was President.”

The next was a woman, late 50s, Democrat but strongly pro-life. Loved B. and H. Clinton, loved Bush in 2000. “Well, I don’t know much about this terrorist group Barack used to be in with that Weather guy but I’m sick of paying for health insurance at work and that’s why I’m supporting Barack.”

I felt like I was taking crazy pills.  I sat on the other side of the glass and realized…this really is the Apocalypse. The Seventh Seal is broken and its time for eight years of pure, delicious crazy..

Rolling on the floorLaughing *Snort* That’s just too funny. I’m sorry. I can’t help it. It’s too funny. Rolling on the floorLaughingHee hee

*wiping eyes* Oh man…. *cough* I guess the the only thing I can say is, Reap what you sow.

The Obligatory Obama is ahead in the polls and McCain’s attacks posting.

First off about the Polls. It’s obvious, the economy is literally driving McCain’s campaign into the ditch. The attack ads obviously did not help, but more than anything, it is the economy, the Republican Party is just on the bad side of things. There’s no way around that or no way of spinning it at all. When the economy tanks the American people look to the opposing party to bring change. Which is what happened in 1980 with Reagan and after the stock market crash and subsequent depression in 1929, with FDR. This time the Republican Party is the Political Party that is one on the wrong side of the situation.

While I might not agree with some of Obama’s positions, I think sometimes, that Obama might just bring some jobs back to this area. I know that I could benefit from that. Obviously, Bob Barr is not going to be elected, even I understand that. While I am not going to come out as a flag waving Obama-bot. I will be the first to concede that change is needed in America and at the moment, Obama represents that. I don’t think the change will come at the speed that many are believing, but it will come, sooner or later.

As for the McCain attack ads and how it is affecting him in the polls; the issue is not what the ads said, it was how they were framed and presented to the American people. The entire problem was that John McCain was saying “Bill Ayers, Bill Ayers, Bill Ayers” and Black America and some the more uneducated on the far right, that believe everything that crosses their mailbox were hearing “He’s a black terrorist! He’s a black terrorist! He’s a black terrorist!” Needless to say this has not helped John McCain’s campaign at all. Not only that, but the picking of Sarah Palin was, as far as this writer is concerned, a tragic mistake. I say this because what McCain was trying to do, was appeal to his base. The problem is, you cannot win an election by appealing just to your base. But rather appealing to the Independent Voters or what are called “The swing voters.” They decide the election in the end, not the base of either party.

Obama on the other hand has appealed to Democrats and Independents as well, and also Conservatives as well; Chris Buckley is a prime example. I mean, Chris Buckley?!?! The son of the infamous staunch Conservative icon, William F. Buckley? Obviously, something is wrong with McCain’s campaign for Buckley to give McCain the cold shoulder. John McCain’s own brother blasted McCain’s campaign for not handling him properly.

Obama on the other hand has handled a very steady campaign, at times, in this writers opinion, playing certain “Cards” to their advantage, as they did with Hillary; much to the same effect as McCain’s campaign. This is just called good politics and good campaigning, and most shockingly it has worked.

So, the bottom line is this; John McCain while he might be great person of courage and valor, his campaign has been the Republican equivalent of Hillary Clinton’s campaign. To beat someone like Obama, you must be good, damned good, and sorry to say, but McCain just is not that; Good.

Ever Notice?

When stuff like this Supposedly happens, that there’s never any video to back it up?

The boisterous crowd, estimated at around 4,500, interrupted her speech several times with chants of, "Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!"

There were no incendiary outbursts from the crowd about Mr. Obama during Mrs. Palin’s speech, as there have been during other recent McCain-Palin rallies.

However, someone did shout out, "Kill him!" during Republican congressional candidate Chris Hackett’s remarks before Mrs. Palin took the stage.

The outburst came during a round of booing from the crowd after Mr. Hackett said Mr. Obama should come to Pennsylvania and learn what the state’s values are. – Via The Times Tribune

I’ll believe that someone really said “Kill Him” when the video surfaces. Like I blogged about before, sometimes, the media lies about this sort of thing.

I’ll believe this, when the video of it happening surfaces.

I really have to wonder….

Did this person get death threats too? (Received by WGRyan via Twitter)

Update: Wow, that was quick. Link got yanked. Amazing… It was a pretty offensive cartoon about Sarah Palin. I’ll post the new link, if it comes up.

A Political Byline Special Presentation: Crawford

My friend Ryan sent me this. Normally I do not post things that other people send to me. But in light of recent events that landed in the crosshairs of the left and landed me on Gawker.com. I am publishing this Movie to show those, who might want to kill me or at worse call me names, that I am not some sort of Bush loving, flag waving freak, who thinks anyone that disagrees with me is inherently evil.

This movie is about the town that President George W. Bush basically used as a prop for his Presidential Campaign. You will see a town, that got swept up into the fury of support for George W. Bush and a town flourish because of it. You’ll see a town that became ground zero for an Anti-War and Pro-War movement that almost drove it apart. Finally, you will see a town, that lives in almost ruin, and is possibly divided, all because of the political ambitions and a warped political ideology of President, who is now leaving that town and moving somewhere else.

This movie shows something, something interesting, something frightening, something that only affirms my beliefs that I could never, ever, be a Republican. It shows us that people that fail to think for themselves and allow themselves to be blinded by a flawed Political Ideology are truly shallow and quite frankly, scary people. Further more, it shows how those who mix their Religious beliefs and their Politics are very dangerous people.

Have said all that, I present to you…… Crawford

McCain’s latest under the Bus….. Bill Kristol?!?!?!

Now this is quite the shock! Surprise

Bill Kristol offers McCain some advice for his campaign:

It’s time for John McCain to fire his campaign.

He has nothing to lose. His campaign is totally overmatched by Obama’s. The Obama team is well organized, flush with resources, and the candidate and the campaign are in sync. The McCain campaign, once merely problematic, is now close to being out-and-out dysfunctional. Its combination of strategic incoherence and operational incompetence has become toxic. If the race continues over the next three weeks to be a conventional one, McCain is doomed.

He may be anyway. Bush is unpopular. The media is hostile. The financial meltdown has made things tougher. Maybe the situation is hopeless — and if it is, then nothing McCain or his campaign does matters.

But I’m not convinced by such claims of inevitability. McCain isn’t Bush. The media isn’t all-powerful. And the economic crisis still presents an opportunity to show leadership.

The 2008 campaign is now about something very big — both our future prosperity and our national security. Yet the McCain campaign has become smaller.

What McCain needs to do is junk the whole thing and start over. Shut down the rapid responses, end the frantic e-mails, bench the spinning surrogates, stop putting up new TV and Internet ads every minute. In fact, pull all the ads — they’re doing no good anyway. Use that money for televised town halls and half-hour addresses in prime time.

And let McCain go back to what he’s been good at in the past — running as a cheerful, open and accessible candidate. Palin should follow suit. The two of them are attractive and competent politicians. They’re happy warriors and good campaigners. Set them free.

….and McCain promptly tosses Bill Kristol under the bus:

Well, you know Bill is entitled to his perspective. And I used to work for Bill. And I can tell you personally sometimes he’s brilliant and sometimes he’s not. And this is one where it’s the latter category. You know, I think unfortunately he has bought into the Obama campaign’s party line.

The Video:

Must.not.make.wisecrack.about.blonde.bimbo. Must.resist!

Someone, please! Stop the spinning or I’m going to puke! SickHypnotizedSilly

Seriously, If John McCain keeps this up, he is not going to have a base, for long. You just cannot cross your base like this, for very long and win an election.

Then again, he is like, what? 10 points behind? So, perhaps at this point, maybe he doesn’t care.

The obligatory Sarah Palin boo’ed at Hockey Game posting…..

Okay, I posted about it. Ya freakin’ Happy now?

Seriously, what the hell did she expect to happen? She went to game that was held in big time Democrat territory.

I laugh at the Republicans that are getting their nickers in a knot over this. I mean, if Obama went to a basketball game in Utah, do you think he would not be boo’ed there? Please.

Biden to Palin – Kiss off Bitch!

I cannot say that I blame Biden here…

Via CNN Political Ticker

Joe Biden Thursday night told Sarah Palin not to lecture him on patriotism, after weeks of attacks mocking him for his statement the wealthy should be patriotic and pay higher taxes because not enough has been asked of them.

“Sarah Palin had great fun saying Joe Biden thinks paying taxes is patriotic. Well, let me tell you what Joe Biden thinks,” the Delaware senator said at an outdoor rally. “Joe Biden thinks that anybody who takes millions of dollars offshore to avoid paying their fair share is unpatriotic.”

The Obama-Biden campaign has accused John McCain of saying publicly he would close offshore banking loopholes, but saying otherwise in private.

“That is not patriotic and it will stop, it will stop in an Obama-Biden administration! Enough! I’ve had it up to here! Don’t lecture me on patriotism,” shouted Biden, getting drowned out by the applause of his supporters. “I’m dead tired of being taken advantage of. I’m getting tired of it.”

I have to agree with this, as much as I hate to admit it. For 8 solid years, anyone who dared to challenge this brain-dead Presidential administration on anything was panned or condemned as Anti-American and or un-Patriotic. (Present Company Included…in other words me!)

Let’s hear more of this Joe, Much more of it! John McCain and that harpy Bitch running with him are a damned extension of that idiotic legacy of painting people as un-American, and I for one would like to see it end.

I am no fan of socialism, at all. But he’s got a damned good point here.

On the Trooper-gate investigation findings…

My feelings on this.

Is it a game changer? At this point, No. McCain is so far behind, it really won’t matter much, if at all. Will it hurt? Yes.

Do I feel it was politically motivated? No. Considering there were Republicans on the investigation committee. I also think that if Palin would have fully cooperated with the investigation, the outcome would have been different.

So, there you have it. My opinion on trooper-gate.

John McCain and the capitalization of fear

I was reading this piece by Ana Marie Cox and it suddenly dawned on me what is happening. I am quite surprised that I did not think of it before.

John McCain is essentially doing what Hillary Clinton tried to do and failed harshly at doing it. It also seems like John McCain’s campaign has some of the same issues that Hillary’s campaign had as well. One hand not knowing what the other is doing.

Quoting Ana:

Here in Lakeville, the traveling press was pretty sure we’d see more of the kind of vicious anti-Obama attitude that’s becoming a hallmark of McCain rallies of late.

As the town hall started, McCain was off with more pep than usual. Making the same old jokes, but with energy that reminded us of “the old McCain.” But would he use his power for good or evil? An audience member teed up a great big softball that could totally hit a dark side home run, asking, “We want you to fight at your next debate… we want to see s REAL fight at the debate, we want a STRONG leader for the next four years.” That is Minnesota nice for “RevWrightACORNAyers,” etc.

But then something weird happens: He acknowledges the “energy” people have been showing at rallies, and how glad he is that people are excited. But, he says, “I respect Sen. Obama and his accomplishments.” People booed at the mention of his name. McCain, visibly angry, stopped them: “I want EVERYONE to be respectful, and lets make sure we are.”

The biggest difference is that this time, it is Right Wingers hating on a Left Wing candidate. The biggest notable exception to this, is this guy here. But he’s an idiot and everyone ignores him. Now, do I believe that there is some crazy person out there who will be inspired to blow Obama away at the first chance he gets? I highly doubt it. Obama is so damn well-protected that he can’t even take a damn leak by himself. So, the chances of that happening are slim to none, in this day and age of super high security. The events of JFK and Ronald Reagan were a wake up call the Secret Service and after that Presidents were so well protected, that something of that nature will most likely never happen again.

Another big and glaring difference is that the McCain campaign, in a indirect sort of a way stoked this whole “Obama is a terrorist” mentality up. Although, to be fair to John McCain and his campaign; these “Obama is terrorist” e-mails had been floating around for a very long time, long before it was ever brought up by John McCain and the campaign. They simply did what Hillary’s campaign attempted to do and were pretty successful at it, for a short time; they capitalized on the fear behind it. However, in the end, it ended up blowing up in their faces, just like it did with Hillary’s campaign.

The lesson to be learned here in this election is this; if you are going to run a Presidential Campaign that Capitalizes on the use of fear, you better be prepared to deal with the extremist factions and reactions of your political party. Because if you not properly prepared to deal with such a thing, it can and will blow up in your face. It also helps to, if you have a political campaign that it settled 100 percent on a campaign strategy.

Time Magazine tries to explain Pentecostalism…and fails somewhat

Full disclosure: As it says on my “About Me” Page. I am, for all intents and purposes, an ex-Pentecostal Christian. I attended a Pentecostal Church in Southwest Detroit from 1984 till 1993 and then attended several Pentecostal Churches in the Detroit Area from 1997 till April of 2004. I left for several very personal reasons that would take several pages worth of writing to explain. Anyhow…just letting you know. I am now a Independent Fundamental Baptist. I was converted to Christianity in a Baptist Church as 9 year old boy. I left that Church after the Pastor, of whom, I am told; I idolized, ran off with another woman. My mother removed me from that Church’s school and put me in one ran by Pentecostals. Thus my tenure in Pentecostalism.

It seems that Time Magazine is doing a piece on Sarah Palin’s relationship to Pentecostalism. However, in their effort to explain Pentecostalism and Pentecostal Theology, they missed the boat just a bit. I will attempt to correct the errors that I see.

Let me also just say for the outset that I do realize the article is basically an attack piece of Palin’s Religion, seeing the Right is making a huge issue about Obama’s Pastor problems and his relationship to Bill Ayers. I wish not to argue those points.

Anyhow, here’s the places that Time made a few errors, I will underline and bold the places where Time blew it…:

What is Pentecostalism? Pentecostals are named for the feast of Pentecost described in the New Testament Book of Acts as taking place shortly after Jesus’ ascension into heaven. During the feast, his followers were said to have been "filled with the Holy Spirit" and gained the ability to speak in many different languages, or "tongues." The modern Pentecostal movement is relatively new — just over 100 years old — and is usually dated to the Azusa Street Revival that began in Los Angeles in 1906. (The revival was a nine-year series of near continuous worship services that popularized Pentecostal worship and practices.) Pentecostalism can be best understood as a branch within evangelical Protestantism, characterized by a focus on the Holy Spirit and a belief in spiritual gifts, such as healing and speaking in tongues.

On it’s face, this is basically correct, but Pentecostalism can be traced back to a Cultish group of Christians in England that believed that the “Gifts” of the Spirit were for today, they existed around 1400’s, I believe. Also, the Quakers and the Newer Methodists tended to be more open to the “Gifts” of the Spirit as well. The Quakers were called just that, because of their strange way of worshiping. The Pentecostal movement can also trace it’s roots to the Holiness movement that swept through the south in the early 1900’s. Some of those meetings in the south became known as the old “Brush Arbor” Meetings.

Are Pentecostals the same as Charismatics? The Charismatic movement began around the 1960s when some Christians within mainline Protestant and Roman Catholic churches adopted certain Pentecostal beliefs, including the acceptance of gifts — or "charisms" — from the Holy Spirit, like speaking in tongues. While Pentecostals can be broadly described as Charismatic, what distinguishes Charismatics is their desire to remain within their original traditions.

Partially true, partially false. That was when the Pentecostal movement became very popular. The biggest difference between Pentecostals and the Charismatic’s of the 1960’s was the lack of the teaching of separation from the world. Anyone who has ever seen a historic picture of Kathryn Kuhlman knows this to be true. However, in this day of great evangelical compromise the words Charismatic and Pentecostal are nothing more than similar names to describe a particular group; albeit, very misguided group, of Christians.

How are Pentecostal beliefs different from Evangelical theology? Almost all Pentecostals are also Evangelical, meaning they put great emphasis on the authority of the Bible, believe in spiritual conversion, conceive of a personal relationship with God and follow an imperative to "share the Good News." They also tend to share theological beliefs regarding the End Times with fundamentalists and more conservative Evangelicals. But they also believe in a separate baptism of the Holy Spirit that is subsequent to and distinct from conversion by accepting Christ as the savior and son of God. This baptism is the core doctrine that separates Pentecostals from other Evangelicals, and it is seen as manifested by physical evidence such as healing powers, speaking in tongues and even bodily inhabitation. (Some Pentecostals take "being filled with the Holy Spirit" to mean that the spirit is actually in them and moves their limbs.)

The part I underlined is utterly and totally false. Pentecostals believe that God is still speaking to mankind today and that the Bible is nothing more than a well written guide.  Despite what most Pentecostal Pastors say. Anyone who says that they believe that the “Signs and Wonders” gifts are for today, does not believe that the Bible is the FINAL Authority. The rest is correct factually. In fact, most Pentecostals believe that you can be filled more than once or “refilled”. There were some Pentecostals, like Rev. Finis Jennings Dake who rejected that teaching totally.

Anyhow, while Time magazine did a decent job on explaining Pentecostalism to their Liberal readers. They should have done much more research into the history. Then again, when you’re publishing a hatchet job on a Republican, thoroughness is not exactly on the list.
