Local News: Detroit’s New Mayor in hot water

We thought that all the corruption was over in Detroit, after the City’s “hip hop” Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was out of office.

It turns out, however that I, we; the city, was very wrong.

It seems the newest Mayor of the city of Detroit has been caught with his hands in the cookie jar.

This story from my Favorite Detroit paper, The Detroit Free Press: (I always hated the Detroit News)

The state Attorney General’s Office is exploring whether Detroit Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr. should be investigated for perjury because he signed a sworn statement that he had no unpaid campaign fees when he owed $42,000.

A source in Attorney General Mike Cox’s office, speaking on condition of anonymity, said today that attorneys in the office began looking at  the situation after it became public about two weeks ago. The source said no decision has been made about whether to charge Cockrel, and the legal review continues.

“If we decide to do something, it will be with the utmost reluctance because Detroit’s already been through the wringer,” said the source, referring to the scandals and criminal charges that forced former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick from office in September, elevating Cockrel to mayor.

“But he’s going to do his job,” the source said, referring to Cox.

On Wednesday, Detroit political consultant and Kilpatrick ally Adolph Mongo filed a request with Cox’s office requesting he charge Cockrel with perjury after Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy declined to take the case, citing a lack of resources to handle elections complaints.

The attorney general’s legal review has concluded that while Worthy has the authority, she has essentially referred the case to Cox.

Cockrel’s troubles began after he failed to resolve $42,000 in unpaid campaign fees that Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett assessed against his campaign fund in late 2006.

When Cockrel filed to run for mayor Oct. 14, he signed a sworn statement that the fees were paid, saying he thought his filing of remaining campaign paperwork would earn him a waiver. But Garrett denied the waiver.

Mayoral spokesman Daniel Cherrin said Cockrel respects the need of the Attorney General’s Office to do its job. He said Cockrel “believes he was in compliance when he signed the affidavit.”

He noted that once Cockrel was denied a waiver from the fees last week, he paid them.

Meanwhile, Cockrel’s situation took a bizarre turn today when one of his little-known opponents in the mayoral election attempted to obtain a citizen’s warrant for a perjury charge from 36th District Court in Detroit only to withdraw his effort because he didn’t have the $2 million that a judge said he needed to fund the prosecution.

Duane Montgomery filed a citizen’s warrant with Judge Robert Giles, but it died because Montgomery didn’t have the money to pay for the prosecution as required by the law that allows such warrants, said Chief District Judge Marylin Atkins.

Honestly, What is it about African-American Democrats and Corruption?  Seems to the two go hand in hand anymore. I truly hope that Attorney Mike Cox does his job and does not give this guy a free pass, just because the “One” is running for office. Of course, He won’t do a thing till after the election. Judging by the comments left at the Free Press, people are not too happy about this either. Can you blame them? 😮

I have to believe though that Kilpatrick is laughing rather hard in jail right now. He was sentenced here recently. A mere 120 days in jail, a slap on the hand for his crimes against a once-fine city. He also had to pay rather lean amount of restitution to the city, and lost his law license, but knowing him, mamma warbucks will have his back.

These are Obama’s people, remember that. yeah, I know… RAAAAACIST! Rolling Eyes

I just wonder when that Communist Liberal Keith Olbermann will do a Special Comment on this little gem of News? I also wonder if the Marxist owned and operated Main Stream Media will report this news story? I won’t hold my breath, lest I turn blue and die. 😛

From the Mailbag

This from the AHSA:

USAToday reported that Dan Cooper, founder and owner of Cooper Firearms, lost his job.  The reason: He’s voting for Obama:

Montana gunsmith Dan Cooper has been ousted as chief executive of the rifle company that bears his name after pressure from gun owners who are angry that he is supporting Democrat Barack Obama.

Today, on behalf of the American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA), I condemned the actions by the NRA and its cronies forcing Dan Cooper out.

The gun lobby’s attempt to destroy a good man and small business owner, a loyal member of the gun fraternity, again reveals the desperate Joe McCarthy-like politics of fear that the NRA leadership and others put first.  They are trying to scare America’s hunters and shooters into voting against Barack Obama — but we have one thing to say: vote hope and not fear.

I have been campaigning in battleground states, including Ohio, Minnesota, Florida and Colorado for Barack Obama this fall.  I know first-hand that gun owners are voting for Obama. They know their gun rights are secure.  And they want a president who won’t take their guns AND will focus on the economy and their jobs.  It’s beyond appalling that hard-core gun activists would destroy the economic livelihood of a guy like Dan Cooper.  John McCain should be ashamed that his supporters have harmed a small business owner for political reasons.  That should never happen in the America.

Last year we witnessed what happened to prominent outdoor writer and commentator Jim Zumbo when he dared take a position contrary to NRA policy.  Now they are trying to do the same to Dan Cooper.

This is wrong, and rank and file gun owners who have no political ax to grind need to stand up, reject such underhanded tactics and have their voices heard. That’s why AHSA was formed, to end this partisan bullying and to restore pride to the shooting sports.   This action against Cooper reinforces my commitment to making change happen by electing Obama – and by building an organization for hunters and shooters who are tired of extremism.

I believe that while it is a legit point to not like Obama’s socialism. Firing someone from their own company for supporting a politician, is crazy.  Especially when they founded the company.

This election cannot end quick enough, for me anyhow.

I just wonder….

What this guy’s immigration status is? I wonder if he’s even legal?

The Video:

I got $10 that says he’s a taco bending Illegal immigrant from Mexico.

Wanna see why Conservatives are not taken seriously anymore?

Then go read this.

For those who want to know what they are clicking on first. It’s a rather long and quite idiotic posting, by a Conservative Blogger, attempting to prove that Barack Obama is really the son of Malcolm X.

Yes, they went there.

No wonder that the Conservatives are losing, not only the election. But the intellectual debate.

I’m ashamed to even be a Conservative minded person right now. 🙁

The Economist endorses Barack Obama

(Via The Corner)

This further increases my sinking feeling that McCain does not have a prayer.

From the Economist:

IT IS impossible to forecast how important any presidency will be. Back in 2000 America stood tall as the undisputed superpower, at peace with a generally admiring world. The main argument was over what to do with the federal government’s huge budget surplus. Nobody foresaw the seismic events of the next eight years. When Americans go to the polls next week the mood will be very different. The United States is unhappy, divided and foundering both at home and abroad. Its self-belief and values are under attack.

For all the shortcomings of the campaign, both John McCain and Barack Obama offer hope of national redemption. Now America has to choose between them. The Economist does not have a vote, but if it did, it would cast it for Mr Obama. We do so wholeheartedly: the Democratic candidate has clearly shown that he offers the better chance of restoring America’s self-confidence. But we acknowledge it is a gamble. Given Mr Obama’s inexperience, the lack of clarity about some of his beliefs and the prospect of a stridently Democratic Congress, voting for him is a risk. Yet it is one America should take, given the steep road ahead.

I can tell you right now, there are many wealthy people, who read this magazine and it’s distributorship is to many Conservatives. I look for many Conservatives to cross the aisle and vote Democrat.

From The Economist’s Political Blog Democracy in America:

And, by the way, he will probably get it. Here’s to hoping Mr Obama’s moderate and sensible side wins over his primary-season, protectionist-populist side.

I bet there’s a good number of people betting on that hope. But I highly doubt that Obama is going to do anything extreme during his tenure as President.

Anyhow, it was a very interesting endorsement.

Huffington Post writer murders lover and commits suicide

This is just awful.

Via Fox News:

A Huffington Post writer stabbed her former lover more than 200 times with a screwdriver and then tried to conceal the slaying, PalmBeachPost.com reported.

After committing the gruesome crime, Carol Anne Berger, an election correspondent for the Huffington Post, reported her former flame missing, then fatally shot herself a day later, police told the Web site.

Lt. Gary Chapman said Jessica Kalish, 56, a software executive, was found in the backseat of her BMW on Oct. 23, the Web site reported.

Kalish had been stabbed with a Phillips-head screwdriver 220 times, he said, with wounds concentrated in the back of her head, back, arms and face. A blow to Kalish’s neck likely killed her, Chapman told the Web site.

Berger and Kalish recently had hired an attorney to sell their house and split the revenue. Kalish had met another woman and spent hours absorbed in cyber-dates with her new companion, PalmBeachPost.com reported.

“We are all very lucky to have Carol Anne be part of the Off the Bus family,” a Huffington Post statement read, referring to the Web site’s special election section. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of Carol Anne Berger and Jessica Kalish.”

Unlike some of my fellow Bloggers on the right, I will refrain from the usual nastiness that follows something like this. I’ll just say that it is a tragedy and that I’ll be praying for the families of those involved in a tragedy, such as this.

If you’d like to go read the asinine ramblings of the assholes, who couldn’t even say anything decent… Go here. May God be their judges.  I thought that the Conservatives and Republicans were better than this. Perhaps that was a gross misjudgment.

The fear-mongering continues on the far, far, far, right

I saw this last night and I had to let out a snort….

This from a story about Barack Obama about his supposed Birth Certificate forgery. Which has been disproven by Factcheck.org and WorldNetDaily both.

This comes via the very far right wing NewsWithViews:

“If Obama becomes president he will eventually be exposed as a fraud, but it will be too late. The Democrat Party will have control of both houses of Congress and the White House. And too many Republicans have become big-spending liberals who are willing to go along with a socialist agenda as long as they keep their jobs,” adds Mike Baker.

“These will be dangerous times, mark my words: the police and the military will be used against American citizens. Think of Waco, Texas, but on a national scale,” warns Det. Frances.

“An Obama presidency may be the beginning of the end of the US Constitution,” he said.

The story that I quoted also tries to say that the Sheriff, a one Mike Scott who referred to Barack Obama by his full name, was visited by the FBI. That is totally false. He was investigated by his own Dept. for engaging in politics, while in uniform.  Which is against the law.

But the real stand out quote is the one above. One would have to disconnect their normal functional brain to believe something as absurd as that. At the most, some fringe groups on the Right and possibly on the far left, might and I do say MIGHT have a problem. Although, I highly doubt that Obama as President would start going after anyone at all.

Why do I say this? Because Obama is going to be elected, much to consternation of the Conservatives and the Republican Party. Do you think for one lousy second that Obama is going to actually do anything at all, that would be considered political suicide?!?!?! Come on now, Use your Brain, Please! 🙄

It is no wonder that Joe Farah of WorldNetDaily.com, kicked Paul Walter’s sorry butt to the curb long ago. (Paul Walter is the owner of NewswithViews.com)

The very stupid “Obama is Muslim” rumor refuses to die

The Crunchy Con and Steven Waldman Both report that people in Texas and Kentucky still believe that Obama is a Muslim

However, it seems that the hate has not escaped the crunchy con Blog either.:

Nah, he’s just a nigger. Never did nothing, but because he’s a porch monkey, he’ll get elected.

Nice. If Obama looses, it will be because of mental midgets like this. 🙄

Funny thing is, he has not even removed that comment…..and he’s a Christian????!?! 😮

Amazing isn’t it?

Michael Crowley over at TNR’s “The Stump” observers the following:

Watching MSNBC coverage of Obama’s rally in Raleigh, NC, I’m struck by this line from his stump speech:

When Bill Clinton was president your average wages and incomes went up $7,500. Under George Bush it went dow $2,000. So if I’ve get economic theories that are similar to Bill Clinton’s, and [McCain’s] got economic theories that are similar to George Bush’s–you can look and see which one worked and which didn’t.

Remember when he was running against the Clinton years?

It’s called wanting to get elected. Barry knew that if he didn’t suck up to Hillary and Bill who represent the “old 1990’s guard” of the Democratic Party, he’d never get elected. Plus, maybe Bubba wants to reign in on the Puma’s.

Although, it is a humorous thing to watch two people sucking up to one other, after ripping on one another weeks before. 😀

Not a Big Shocker

Via TNR’s “The Stump”:

US citizens living in Israel line-up to cast their ballots as they vote early for the US Presidential elections at a cultural centre in Jerusalem on October 28, 2008. A poll conducted by the Rabin Center for Israel Studies found that 46.6% of Israelis would vote for Republican nominee John McCain if given chance to elect a US president, while Democrat Barack Obama would receives 34% of votes. Others remained undecided. (MENAHEM KAHANA/AFP/Getty Images)

Not a big surprise. Jewish voters have always favored the Republicans because of thier pro-Isreal stance. Nice Photo too. 🙂

If it even passes, it won’t last long

Charles Johnson over at the Neo-Conservative Little Green Footballs is wondering aloud Obama’s “Civilian National Security Force“:

The Department of Defense’s current base budget is close to $500 billion. So if he meant that promise, he plans on a total defense budget of about a trillion dollars.

What exactly is Obama planning to do with a “civilian force” with such an astronomical level of funding?

A good question that I would like to know as well. But all this posturing and guessing and scaremongering is for naught. Because first off, there is no way in hell that there is going to be a Democratic “Super-Majority”. No way, no how, there’s too many damn right leaning states for that to happen and no damn Conservative Senator or Representative, worth their salt, is going to sit idly by and allow Obama to pass a bill enacting something like this, ever.

You ask what If I’m wrong? Well, I could be, it might just get passed, but let me clue you in on something. The first time one of these “Civilian National Security Force” officers walks up on someone who’s “Bitter and Clingy” and they haul off and empty a clip into one of those officers and he dies. Then the Government will get sued by the family. When that happens the program will be scrapped.

But I have a sneaking suspicion that this program will never, ever get out of congress, because first off, look at the insurance money the Government would have to put on each one of these officers, then they’d have to get them gun training, if the Government even allows them to be armed. (Knowing Liberals like I do, they would not be…) If they did not allow them to be, the only thing they’d be is glorified rent-a-cops.

So, I think much of the guessing and worrying about this is for no reason. Because it is not going to happen. Just chalk it up to one of Barry’s Promises to get elected. Which he will do and American will have to suffer for 4 to 8 years of Hyper-or Neo-Liberal rule. Thanks Bush! 🙄

When you’ve lost Zogby, You’ve lost the election.

Sigh…. SighIt only gets worse for McCain.

Zogby, A Republican owned Polling system has grim news for John McCain:

The race for President of the United States continued to tighten, as both Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain lost ground in a contest that is now a four–point game, the latest Reuters/C–SPAN/Zogby daily tracking telephone poll shows.

Obama lost 0.9 points and now stands at 49.0% in the tracking poll, while McCain lost 0.4 points and now stands at 44.7% support in a head–to–head match–up. Another 6.3% said they were undecided, up from 4.9% the day before.

McCain wins 87% of the Republican support, and Obama 84% of the Democratic support, and each candidate wins 11% of the opposing party’s support. Obama continues to lead among independent voters – his advantage now stands at 16 points, 51% to 35%.

McCain leads among men, 48% to 45%, while Obama leads among women by a larger 53% to 42% margin. Among white voters, McCain leads by a 53% to 41% margin. Among Hispanics, Obama leads, 66% to 28%, and among African Americans, Obama wins 88% to McCain’s 9%.

I do not dare use the word “landslide”. But It’s going to be a bad day on November 4.

Humph… So much for that tightening up bit!

Well, I go and Blog and Pew Research makes a monkey outta me. 🙄

Pew Research: Support Continues Downward Spiral

Barack Obama leads John McCain by a 52% to 36% margin in Pew’s latest nationwide survey of 1,325 registered voters. This is the fourth consecutive survey that has found support for the Republican candidate edging down. In contrast, since early October weekly Pew surveys have shown about the same number of respondents saying they back Obama. When the sample is narrowed to those most likely to vote, Obama leads by 53% to 38%.

A breakdown of voting intentions by demographic groups shows that since mid- September, McCain’s support has declined significantly across most voting blocs. Currently, McCain holds a statistically significant advantage only among white evangelical Protestants (aside from Republicans). In addition, Obama runs nearly even with McCain in the so-called red states, all of which George W. Bush won in 2004.

Just as ominous for the Republican candidate, Obama holds a 53% to 34% lead among the sizable minority of voters (15%) who say they have already voted. Among those who plan to vote early but have not yet voted (16% of voters), 56% support Obama, while 37% support McCain.

Guess I won’t be so quick on the draw next time. 😀

The Numbers:

Overall the point is valid, that John McCain just is not resonating with the rest of the American people.

It’s sad, but the truth.

Oy… Female Soldiers want to serve in the Military, and then whine when they get raped…

This is where my old school, Paleo-Conservative, Fundamental Baptist Self comes out…

Via The Corner on National Review Online

15 percent of recently returned female soldiers report a sexual trauma during service, compared to 0.7 percent of male soldiers, according to preliminary research results from a Department of Veteran Affairs study released at the American Public Health Association meeting in San Diego. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this.

There’s a simple solution to this, and I just know someone is going to see this and is going to pop a vein when I say it. But, if these women would have stayed home and been wives to their husbands and Mothers to their Children, then they would not have never gotten raped in the first place. By no means do I justify the rapes, not at all. But the simple fact is that Women have fought for equal rights with men, led by that feminist Nazi Gloria Steinem. Now that they have these rights and one of them gets raped by a man who looses control, they want to be treated special, coddled and treated differently.

To HELL with that I say, if you cannot take the heat, stay the hell out of the Kitchen. The Military was originally designed for men, fighting men, to defend this country against our enemies. Women were not a part of the equation. That is because Women knew their place and it was not on the battlefield. But thanks to your stupid liberals, women are now a part of the Armed Forces and they’re getting raped.

….and they wonder why we had such a time winning in Iraq.

Mini Editorial: Charles Johnson does not speak for me.

There times like these, that I look at my fellow Conservatives and I have to wonder to myself, “Honestly, Are these people on a different planet than me or what?”

I was over reading the incoming links in my RSS reader and I saw a posting on Little Green Footballs.  It had to do with Barack Obama and his views of socialism.  I disagree with his views, let me say that from the preface; but the quote at Little Green Footballs slightly troubles me.

Here is the stuff in full:

The audio recording of Barack Obama espousing his socialist philosophy of “redistribution of wealth” is all over the Internet and Fox News today (although most other media outlets are ignoring it), but there’s another disturbing section on that tape that has so far escaped notice.

The link to the audio is here: Chicago Public Radio – Audio Library: Odyssey.

At about 15:30, Obama compares what was going on in the United States during the time of Brown vs. the Board of Education to … Nazi Germany. Yes, really. Here’s the quote:

“…just to take a, sort of a realist perspective…there’s a lot of change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially have to take judicial notice of.  I mean you’ve got World War II, you’ve got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazism, that, that we are fighting against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.”

There you have it.  America is close to electing a President who compares his own country to Nazi Germany.

The truth is Obama was saying much more than that.  In Fact, Charles Johnson was parsing a quote to make a false accusation.

Oliver Willis, of whom I do not agree with much, makes a valid point:

I really wish this were some sort of brilliant parody, but these morons believe what they write.

I love this country second to none, but we do a disservice to ourselves if we truly try to pretend as if for hundreds of years America wasn’t a willing participant in the enslavement and subjugation of people. Particularly in the era Sen. Obama was discussing, America was part of the greatest liberation of all time, but we did so with a military segregated by race.  We simply were not practicing what we preached.

The mental midgets of Little Green Footballs have gone so far in their defense of the indefensible that they would rather defend the concept of segregation – and maybe slavery too – in order for them to attack Sen. Obama.

Well, I somewhat agree with Oliver wrote.  I highly doubt that Johnson was trying to defend segregation or slavery.  He was however parsing a quote to attempt to frame Obama in a light that really is not fair.

However, there was something that Oliver did say that I highly agree with, and that is this:

I love this country second to none, but we do a disservice to ourselves if we truly try to pretend as if for hundreds of years America wasn’t a willing participant in the enslavement and subjugation of people. Particularly in the era Sen. Obama was discussing, America was part of the greatest liberation of all time, but we did so with a military segregated by race.  We simply were not practicing what we preached.

I can honestly say that I do agree with this 100%.  It does trouble me, that there are members of the Conservative movement that justify, if not condone the mentality that Blacks are sub-par with the rest of America.  This is a sick and sad mentality to possess.  In fact, I have previously blogged about my feelings toward the subject of racism in this Presidential race.

I might not agree with Oliver Willis on some issues, but this one, I am with him 100%.  I just wish there were other Conservatives that would get their collective heads out of their asses long enough to see that Oliver and I are the ones who are correct and not the racists.  One can hope for that day, I suppose.

Keith Olbermann to John McCain “Stand up and Lead!”

Let me just go on the record of saying that I totally concur and agree with this statement wholeheartedly.

Transcript: (Thanks to MSNBC)

Finally tonight, a Campaign Comment about the fraudulent race attack claim, since acknowledged and recanted, by a John McCain campaign volunteer in Pennsylvania. You know the story quite well by now.

It is a sad, demoralizing tale of a woman who can easily be summarized by the term "B-Actress." Ashley Todd was not sexually assaulted by a big black man.

He did not carve the letter "B" onto her face to punish her for supporting John McCain. It apparently never dawned on her, or resembled less a cut, than an abrasion done by a weapon no more sinister than a nail file. She was not even at the ATM where she claimed the attack took place. It apparently never dawned on her that the machine had security video and she wouldn’t be on it.

And clearly somewhere in her mind was a calculation that a story like this one, with layer upon layer of racial threat, could be some kind of game changer for the presidential candidate she worked to get elected in at least two states for at least two months.

Her saga is pathetic. She now claims mental illness. If this too is not true, Ms. Todd might think she’s pulling another fast one over on the rest of us. In fact her claim seems to be accurate whether she knows it or not.

And much more disturbingly, so was her calculation. At least until her story, in retrospect a ludicrous confection, fell apart and she had to confess her crime, she had inspired dozens, perhaps hundreds, of journalists and bloggers and all those in between on both political sides, to stand over this nation’s ever-present tinderbox of racial prejudice, and racial fear, and racial hatred.

And she had brought them all matches. We already know what the executive Vice President of Fox News had written while his organization was collectively perched next to that tinderbox, waiting for the slightest excuse to light it, and our nation, ablaze – the over-the-top caveat, thrown in for a window-dressing "balance" with not the slightest intent that it should be taken seriously:

"If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Sen. McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting."

That is the well-known part of what John Moody wrote. What preceded it was far less publicized, and far more important.

"Part of the appeal of, and the unspoken tension behind, Sen. Obama’s campaign is his transformational status as the first African-American to win a major party’s presidential nomination."That does not mean that he has erased the mutual distrust between black and white Americans, and this incident could become a watershed event in the 11 days before the election."If Ms. Todd’s allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Sen. Obama, not because they are racists, with due respect to Rep. John Murtha, but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee."

Moody wrote that.

It wouldn’t be racism to suddenly blame Barack Obama for an attack on a white woman by a black man intending to punish her not supporting another black man. It would be a "watershed moment" because it somehow meant "they suddenly feel as if they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee."

Its only connection would be racial, but the response would not be racism. The tinderbox, again. And a very large match, provided by John Moody. I know this man. He is not stupid, not careless. He has, in fact, an educational background identical to my own, right down to the same college radio station. He knew what he was writing: a rationalization for racism.

That Moody should be fired, goes without saying. That if not fired, he should resign in shame, is also obvious.

Neither will happen, because there is no one of sufficient authority to reproach him  and the others  who but for Ashley Todd’s inability to maintain her inner hoaxster for more than two days, would have solemnly and grimly, and some secretly, happily, set the presidential campaign on its ear, and knocked this nation’s tenuous grip on the relationship between the races, off its axis.

Because there was nobody to say "no, don’t." This is where you come in, Sen. McCain. No histrionics from me to you this time, Senator. No yelling. Just a plea. Say something about this. Now. Say something strongly and succinctly about the unacceptability of what happened and how some of your supporters tried to exploit it.

I am not asking you to assume the responsibility for this, no matter how your campaign pushed this story. I have no doubt that in the mirror-image scenario, many of Senator Obama’s supporters would do the same.

But I also have no doubt that by this point in that mirror-image scenario, Sen. Obama would have said  something to try to stop the next Ashley Todd  and the next John Moody.

Senator, of all the things I don’t like about you or your campaign I have never thought you a racist. As imperfect as was your moment with the Minnesota woman, mumbling about Arabs, I thought it was the finest moment of your campaign.

I believe that you feel as I do – that racial hatred and prejudice have no place in this campaign, or in this country. I believe that you feel as I do – as Clarence Darrow said in a different time and different context: "I am pleading for the future; I am pleading for a time when hatred and cruelty will not control the hearts of men. When we can learn by reason and judgment and understanding and faith…"

Sometimes, Sen. McCain, it is as if we are almost there. And then some unthinking act, like the one by Ashley Todd, throws us back against the rocks and we barely escape with our ship intact. In that time of foundering, Sen. McCain, far too few of us have a chance, to personally right the ship, to heal, instead of stand idly by, to make a difference in this oldest and most wearying of our struggles as a nation.

This chance, Sir, is yours. Say something. Or better yet, say something with Sen. Obama, about race and how we live with one another. Let this last week of the campaign be remembered, no matter how it turns out next Tuesday, as something other than the time Ashley Todd lied, and the John Moodys threatened, and you said nothing.

Sen. McCain , once again—grab the microphone.

The reason I say that I agree with the above is because this Nation has a horrible scar on it. That is the scare of racism. This woman’s actions simply further widened the gulf between the races and further escalated the tension between the races. This must stop. That tension sometimes festers itself in the form of the ugliness that I blogged about earlier.

It is this writers opinion that if McCain does not do this, it could very well cost him; not only this race, but also his honor and reputation amongst, not just liberals, but the rest of American as well.

I posted this here, because I also have a deep disdain of those who claim to be Americans and yes, sometimes Conservatives, even Christian; and are racist bigots. This I am afraid is something that this party did inherit from the Democratic Party after the passage of the unconstitutional civil rights act of 1968. Many of the racists within that Democratic Party sought refuge from the mindset of racial harmony in the Republican Party. Thankfully, there were people, like the late William F. Buckley, who stood up to those people, fingered them, and exposed them for the racist bigots that they were. Admittedly, they are still within the confines of the Republican Party, but their roles have been diminished to the likes of sideline hecklers; More bark than bite.

Yes, that is correct, I posted this, and if any Libertarian or Conservative, of any stripe does not like it, they, as Keith Olbermann foolishly said about those working in the Pentagon; frankly, can go to hell.

ATF Breaks up skinhead plot to assassinate Barack Obama

My personal thoughts in a moment. But first the story via AP:

WASHINGTON – Law enforcement agents have broken up a plot by two neo-Nazi skinheads to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 88 black people, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives said Monday.

In court records unsealed Monday in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn., federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school in a murder spree that was to begin in Tennessee. Agents said the skinheads did not identify the school by name.

Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of ATF’s Nashville field office, said the two men planned to kill 88 black people, including 14 by beheading. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

The men also sought to go on a national killing spree after the Tennessee murders, with Obama as its final target, Cavanaugh told The Associated Press.

"They said that would be their last, final act — that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama," Cavanaugh said. "They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying."

An Obama spokeswoman traveling with the senator in Pennsylvania had no immediate comment.

The men, Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman 18, of Helena-West Helena, Ark., are being held without bond. Agents seized a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and three pistols from the men when they were arrested. Authorities alleged the two men were preparing to break into a gun shop to steal more.

The defendants were arrested Oct. 22 by the Crockett County, Tenn., Sheriffs Office. "Once we arrested the defendants and suspected they had violated federal law, we immediately contacted federal authorities," said Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce.

Attorney Joe Byrd, who has been hired to represent Cowart, did not immediately return a call seeking comment Monday.

Cowart and Schlesselman are charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, conspiring to steal firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer, and threatening a candidate for president.

The investigation is continuing, and more charges are possible, Cavanaugh said.

The court records say Cowart and Schlesselman also bought nylon rope and ski masks to use in a robbery or home invasion to fund their spree, during which they allegedly planned to go from state to state and kill people.

For the Obama plot, the legal documents show, Cowart and Schlesselman "planned to drive their vehicle as fast as they could toward Obama shooting at him from the windows."

"Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt," the court complaint states. "Both individuals further stated they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt."

Cavanaugh said there’s no evidence — so far — that others were willing to assist Cowart and Schlesselman with the plot.

He said authorities took the threats very seriously.

"They seemed determined to do it," Cavanaugh said. "Even if they were just to try it, it would be a trail of tears around the South."

This is obviously the actions of some very disturbed individuals. I want to be absolutely clear, I have never, nor will I ever advocate violence towards blacks or any other race for that matter. The thing that I posted a while back, was nothing than a rather fool hearty attempt at being a bit of a smart ass and a attempt to throw the race baiting of the far left, in the faces of those doing it.  However, This sort of a thing goes far well beyond that. This sort of thing is outright malicious behavior.  I would never support that, and if in fact, I did have knowledge of something of this nature happening, I will report it to the proper authorities right away.

Further more, This Blog is use to criticize the POLITICS of Barack Obama and the Democrats, NOT THE RACE OF OBAMA. I am not, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be a White Nationalist, a White Supremacist, A Nazi or anything of that sort of insanity.  The Bible says the following:

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: (Acts 10:34 KJV)

and…

He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. (1 John 2:9 KJV)

But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. (1 John 2:11 KJV)

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. (1 John 3:15 KJV)

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? (1 John 4:20 KJV)

There are those who would want to debate the finer points of the doctrine behind those scriptures up there. But I simply say this, anyone who claims to be a Christian or even a respectable human being and has hatred towards those of a different race than themselves, have got issues deeper than just politics. I have, myself, seen that sort of hate up close and quite frankly, it sickens me to my core.

Let me just simply say this, this sort of racial hatred once festered within the Democratic Party. This was long before the Democratic Party had it’s “Come to Jesus” moment, over the issue of civil rights and rights towards blacks. It was mostly in the south and was a product of the south’s loss of the civil war. It is a historic fact that the Ku Klux Clan was formed by former Civil War soldiers. It is a sad stain on the pages of American history.  However, it was the Republican Party that stood up against the hatred of the south and it’s attitude towards blacks, it was Abraham Lincoln and his Emancipation Proclamation which lead way for the ending of slavery in America. When Lincoln wrote the following, I tend to believe he meant business…:

I would save the Union. I would save it the shortest way under the Constitution. The sooner the national authority can be restored; the nearer the Union will be "the Union as it was." … My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union. I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause, and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause. I shall try to correct errors when shown to be errors; and I shall adopt new views so fast as they shall appear to be true views. I have here stated my purpose according to my view of official duty; and I intend no modification of my oft-expressed personal wish that all men everywhere could be free.

So, when I hear of Barack Obama supports painting “Republican means Slavery” on the doors of the Republican Party headquarters in South Carolina. I tend to get a little ticked. Angry

Here is hoping that the idiots that tried to carry out this sort of act, will be locked in a jail for a long time to come.

Audio of Barack Obama explaining the Communist doctrine of redistribution of wealth

(A Very Big Hat Tip to Mark Steyn at NRO’s The Corner and Betsy’s Page)

First the bombshell Video, which comes via Naked Emperor News which has a YouTube Account:

The money quote in this video is:

The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf.

Bill Whittle lays the smack down on this whole idea:

The entire purpose of the Constitution was to limit government. That limitation of powers is what has unlocked in America the vast human potential available in any population.

Barack Obama sees that limiting of government not as a lynchpin but rather as a fatal flaw: “…One of the, I think, the tragedies of the Civil Rights movement was because the Civil Rights movement became so court-focused, uh, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change. And in some ways we still suffer from that.”

There is no room for wiggle or misunderstanding here. This is not edited copy. There is nothing out of context; for the entire thing is context — the context of what Barack Obama believes. You and I do not have to guess at what he believes or try to interpret what he believes. He says what he believes.

We have, in our storied history, elected Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives and moderates. We have fought, and will continue to fight, pitched battles about how best to govern this nation. But we have never, ever in our 232-year history, elected a president who so completely and openly opposed the idea of limited government, the absolute cornerstone of makes the United States of America unique and exceptional.

If this does not frighten you — regardless of your political affiliation — then you deserve what this man will deliver with both houses of Congress, a filibuster-proof Senate, and, to quote Senator Obama again, “a righteous wind at our backs.”

[….]

I happen to know the person who found this audio. It is an individual person, with no more resources than a desire to know everything that he or she can about who might be the next president of the United States and the most powerful man in the world.

I know that this person does not have teams of highly paid professionals, does not work out of a corner office in a skyscraper in New York, does not have access to all of the subtle and hidden conduits of information … who possesses no network television stations, owns no satellite time, does not receive billions in advertising dollars, and has a staff of exactly one.

I do not blame Barack Obama for believing in wealth distribution. That’s his right as an American. I do blame him for lying about what he believes. But his entire life has been applying for the next job at the expense of the current one. He’s at the end of the line now.

I do, however, blame the press for allowing an individual citizen to do the work that they employ standing armies of so-called professionals for. I know they are capable of this kind of investigative journalism: It only took them a day or two to damage Sarah Palin with wild accusations about her baby’s paternity and less time than that to destroy a man who happened to be playing ball when the Messiah decided to roll up looking for a few more votes on the way to the inevitable coronation.

We no longer have an independent, fair, investigative press. That is abundantly clear to everyone — even the press. It is just another of the facts that they refuse to report, because it does not suit them.

Nothing could be more true.

My take on this so-called “Doctrine”. It is nothing short of diluted Communism. The whole idea of spread the wealth, in itself, is a core of socialism and is a form of Communism. The very idea the Government MUST do something for you, is in direct opposition of the principles that America was founded upon.

The very idea that our Government MUST do anything for anyone, is a doctrine of bigger Government, which is a socialist Doctrine and a core doctrine of Liberalism and a core doctrine of Communism.

Quite frankly, I fear for our Nation. I fear because our Nation is about to elect one of the most radical Presidents in the history of our Nation. It has absolutely nothing to do with skin color. It has to do with Politics and politics alone. This man’s political positions are left of Bill and Hillary Clinton. He is not just a Liberal, he is a ultra-Liberal or a Neo-Liberal, and that frightens me. Why? Because I have always said, any political power that goes unchecked or taken to it’s mind-numbing extremes is very dangerous. Barack Obama is a representative of that extreme.

Are Polls what they’re cracked up to be?

(H/T AllahPundit @ HotAir)

Via Virginia Virtucon:  (One of his contributors writes)

I was having dinner a night ago with a friend of mine who is a statistician for a well-regarded private polling company. They do some work for Republicans in California, but most of the work they do is for Democrats or Democrat-leaning operations (Unions, etc.). Anyway, her shop was retained to do a few Presidential polls for targetted states on behalf of a union so the union could decide where to spend their ad dollars for the last week. They did Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Missouri. After mocking the hell out of the voter id spreads used by Rassmussen, Zogby, etc. (and this is coming from a committed Dem who will be voting for Barry O) she said the results of their polling lead her to believe that McCain will definitely win FL, OH, NC, MO and NV. She says Obama definitely wins New Mexico. She said that Colorado and New Hampshire were absolute dead heats. She said she thinks there is a 55% chance Obama holds on in Pennsylvania and a 75% chance McCain wins Virginia. She absolutely laughed at the public polls showing Obama leading Virginia–and pointed out that all of those polls rely on Dem turnout being +4 and as much as +7, when in 2006, Republicans actually had the advantage by +3. She also pointed out that the numbers for Obama in SWVA look absolutely awful and that McCain is running 10 points better then Allen did in NoVa.

Anyway, her companies conclusion is that the election will come down to Colorado, New Hampshire and the Republican leaning district in Maine, which in her opinion might very well decide the Presidency (apparently the district in Nebraska that Obama thought he might be able to get is now off the table). She said she has very little doubt that the public polling is part of a “concerted voter suppression effort” by the MSM. She said IBD/TIPP was the only outfit doing public polling that was “worth a bucket of warm piss”.

Yikes! Maybe a bit extreme on the mental image. Sick But it does tell something. Maybe these polls are not as accurate as some might think.

We shall see.

Needless to say, this election is going to be a historic one. Whomever wins this election and becomes our Nation’s next President will have their own work cut out for them. I would not want to be in their shoes at all come 2009.
