This is not good for libertarians

I’m with Dan Foster, this just does not look good, no matter how you slice it:

Via WPSD-TV in Tennessee:

The Story:

OBION COUNTY, Tenn. – Imagine your home catches fire but the local fire department won’t respond, then watches it burn. That’s exactly what happened to a local family tonight.

A local neighborhood is furious after firefighters watched as an Obion County, Tennessee, home burned to the ground.

The homeowner, Gene Cranick, said he offered to pay whatever it would take for firefighters to put out the flames, but was told it was too late.  They wouldn’t do anything to stop his house from burning.

Each year, Obion County residents must pay $75 if they want fire protection from the city of South Fulton.  But the Cranicks did not pay.

The mayor said if homeowners don’t pay, they’re out of luck.

This fire went on for hours because garden hoses just wouldn’t put it out. It wasn’t until that fire spread to a neighbor’s property, that anyone would respond.

Turns out, the neighbor had paid the fee.

“I thought they’d come out and put it out, even if you hadn’t paid your $75, but I was wrong,” said Gene Cranick.

Dan Foster writes:

That bolded paragraph is what really gets to me. I have no problem with this kind of opt-in government in principle — especially in rural areas where individual need for government services and available infrastructure vary so widely. But forget the politics: what moral theory allows these firefighters (admittedly acting under orders) to watch this house burn to the ground when 1) they have already responded to the scene; 2) they have the means to stop it ready at hand; 3) they have a reasonable expectation to be compensated for their trouble?

The counterargument is, of course, that this kind of system only works if there are consequences for opting out. For the firefighters to have put out the blaze would have opened up a big moral hazard and generated a bunch of future free-riding — a lot like how the ban on denying coverage based on preexisting conditions, paired with penalties under the individual mandate that are lower than the going premiums, would lead to folks waiting until they got sick to buy insurance.

But that analogy is not quite apt. Mr. Cranick, who has learned an incredibly expensive lesson about risk, wasn’t offering to pay the $75 fee. He was offering to pay whatever it cost to put out the fire. If an uninsured man confronted with the pressing need for a heart transplant offered to pay a year in back-premiums to an insurer to cover the operation, you’d be right to laugh at him. But imagine if that man broke out his check book to pay for the whole shebang, and hospital administrators denied him the procedure to teach him a lesson.

I’m a conservative with fairly libertarian leanings, but this is a kind of government for which I would not sign up.

I have agree with all of the above.  Conservatives believe in LIMITED Government, not no Government at all. This whole idea of “pay for protection” nonsense strikes me as some sort of mafia scheme.  Not only that, there is the moral argument of allowing a man’s house burn to the ground. This is why I am not a 100% libertarian, because libertarians; especially libertarian leftists — put principle before morality — and that my friends is wrong.   If were living in the town of Obion County, Tennessee; I would be demanding that the town abolish the stupid “pay to spray” rule and put in a more sensible way of paying for the city’s fire service, like maybe out of the city’s general fund; which is most likely being used to pay this idiotic mayor.

Again, no matter how you slice this one; it just looks horrible for the libertarian purists.

Video: Black Leftist Attacks White Reporter Covering One Nation Rally

….and, of course, nothing happens to her.

Here’s the video: (Via Human Events)

The Story Via Human Events:

A liberal protester at the “One Nation Working Together” march physically assaulted a HUMAN EVENTS reporter who was videotaping Rep. Charlie Rangel (D.-N.Y) at the event at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The reporter, Emily Miller, was first hit from behind while she was taping Rangel as the Harlem congressman glad-handed supporters in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Miss Miller is heard on the video saying, “Please don’t hit me.” The protester proceeds to yell at the reporter, “Well get out of the way! What do you think this is? Asshole.” The activist was attempting to meet Rangel herself. Miss Miller continued videotaping the event, when suddenly the same unhinged protester lunged at her, hit her on the arm, and yelled, “Don’t take my picture.”

As the footage shows, the protestor then slapped Miss Miller, hitting the flip cam and saying, “Do not take my picture. Do not take my fucking picture and I mean it.”

The scene continued, as the deranged woman assaulted Miss Miller yet again, before having to be restrained by members of the Park Police.

Here’s the story by the lady who was hit:

To answer your questions….

The Park Police called Capitol Police to handle the situation. I asked the Capitol Police to get me somewhere safe, which they did. They took my report of what happened.

They interviewed the many witnesses at the scene around the protester. All the witnesses said nothing happened, and that the woman did not hit me. I showed the officers one of the videos on the flip cam. The officer said that hitting the camera is not against the law.

My hands were shaking so much, I couldn’t rewind to show the earlier video.

The police asked me repeatedly if I had someone with me who could vouch for my story. I said, no, I’m alone here reporting on this march. Since it was my word against all the witnesses, I asked them to just get me safely out of the rally.

The officer said he would investigate to determine if an arrest was warranted. As far as I know, nothing further happened.

I was mostly shocked that all of those the witnesses lied to the police. So much for not bearing false witness…

And, I’ll add, no one stopped the woman from repeatedly hitting me. So much for decency… – Emily Miller, Washington, D.C

Folks, we need to just be real about this one; this woman was not arrested, because she was black. If this would have been a White Woman and the camera woman black and this would have been a Tea Party rally —- the liberal media would have been a perpetual meltdown mode, the person would have been made an example of and this persons name would have been in all of the papers. But because it was some black protester at a union rally; not a word is said about it.

You know, I am just going to say it. Sometimes, I really think Governor George Wallace —- was absolutely correct.

I hate to the one to say it; but I think we, as Americans, as White Americans — need to STOP apologizing to these bastards and take our Country back from the interlopers who have taken it over.

Here’s what I mean: (This video pertains to South Africa, but it could very well apply to America too)

It is time we got real; and quit this “Go along to get along” crap that the GOP is doing now. Because it is only hurting us.

The forgotten faces of the Afghanistan War

Call me an old softie; call me whatever you wanna call me. But this little Gallery here, breaks me up a bit.

Whether we want to admit it or not; but these children are in the crossfire of a very adult war. They are the victims of a deranged group of people; who attacked us on 9/11.

They are the one’s that my heart breaks for, in this thing we call war.

How the left really feels about our Military

Here is another video from the leftist shindig up on the National Mall in Washington D.C.

This is a video of the World War II memorial in Washington D.C. after the leftist jackboots got done with it.

This makes me sick to my god-damned stomach. 😡

The Video: (H/T to HotAirPundit and it comes with a special thanks to Michelle Malkin)

Dear God…………………………… What is happening to my Country? 🙁 😥

Mrs. Malkin, I do not know if you will actually ever read this; but if you do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for linking to that Video, and thanks to HotAirPundit for posting. This is an outrage. Something has to be done, these people do not love America; they hate it.

Update: Some of you might be wondering why this one bothers me so badly; Because it is personal, extremely personal. My Grandfather’s two brothers, both from Georgia, served in the United States Military during World War II. Both served in Germany, both made it back alive, both lost friends in the War. My Dad’s Father’s brother also served in the Military during War II. They were a part of the greatest generation ever; and these bastard communists treat that memorial like it is some park!?!?!? That is an outrage! Many people gave their lives for this Country, so that those idiot communists could have the right to march and believe in their idiotic dream of a socialist utopia and they treat their memorial like it is a place to leave their garbage.  There are no words to describe what I am feeling right now —- rage, anger, hatred, resentment, sadness, fear of what the Country is becoming —- all of that in one big ball of fury.

My friends, I apologize if my writing at the moment sounds damned disjointed. But god-damn it, I am angry. We must vote for a new slate come November 2, 2010. This is gone on long enough. There is just some lines that you do not cross; and the Democrats, the socialists, the left; what the hell ever you want to call them —- they crossed it yesterday. We must, must, must, let them know that the silent majority of us will not sit idly by and allow these jack-booted thugs destroy our nation any longer. It has to stop, before it is too late.

Again, sorry for rambling. But this one really bothered me.

I get mail!

Wow. Looks like the real haters have finally discovered this blog.

I find it fascinating that I can find a condemnation of Furkan Dogan and a link to USS Liberty on your page.

I find it fascinating that you do not equate *both* as Israeli terrorism.

For the record he is referring to this posting here.

So, I replied back:

Well, I find it fascinating that you, as a Klansman or an Arab Terrorist;
can actually read.

Anyhow, I’m no fan boy for Israel. But I am not in the crowd of hate. If you
are, you have zero business being around my blog.

Yes, I do criticize Wilsonian foreign policy. Further more, I criticize the
Neo-Cons who wish to put us into a perpetual state of war.

However, my motivation is not hatred of the Jews, like yours. Mine is simply
looking at the realistic consequences of such actions.

The Ironic part is, I am accused of being, what you really are. That, my
friend is the sick part.

….and yes, I am publishing the e-mail to my site with my reply.

Good Day!

-Patrick
http://www.politicalbyline.com

That my friends is the long and short of it around here. If you are some Israel-hating, Jew Hating, Klansman; you have zero business being around here. I do not hate Jewish people at all. I simply want Republicans and Conservatives alike, to think about the consequences of their actions. It is not unreasonable to ask that people do that. It is, however, very unreasonable to accuse Israel of terrorism. I have no reason to believe that the U.S.S. Liberty was nothing more than a tragic accident. I also happen to know, that the Government of Israel paid the families of those killed and the survivors of the U.S.S. Liberty attack, a large sum of money for their mistake. — A fact often omitted by the hate crowd.  In fact, the site that this buffoon refers to, is not a hate site at all, but rather a memorial site to the fallen. Sorry gang, but the conspiracy theory idiotic nonsense just does not interest me, at all. Further more, I question the motivations of those, who dispute the official story about the U.S.S. Liberty.

Update: I figure before anyone nails me on this; I will say it. At one time, I did question the official story of the U.S.S. Liberty. That is until I finally read that the Israeli Government paid those that were hurt or killed in the Accident a good sum of money. My reasoning is this; if Israel hit that ship on purpose. Then why the heck would they pay the people for their mistake? You see, that would not make any sense. As do not most of the idiots who claim that the U.S.S. Liberty attack was not an accident.

As another blogger would say, you do not like what I publish here? Go start your own damned Blog and publish the stuff YOU want people to read. But don’t come here and spew hate and expect me to agree with you. Because it simply isn’t going to happen.

I call myself a Paleo-Conservative, because for one; I disagree with Wilsonian Foreign Policy. For two, I think that Keynesian Economics is just wrong and does not work. (See Tax and Spend) Now, do I believe that the Government should be entirely decentralized? No.  Further more, there does seem to be an element of Antisemitism within the Paleo-Conservative ranks. Well, I simply do not agree with those people.

Again, if you are a hater, a bigot, or whatever. Fine. Be one. But don’t come around here and start telling me how to write. Because I will simply tell you, what I tell the liberal morons who come here to start trouble; and that is to go fuck yourself. This is my blog, it is a journal of my thoughts, that I allow for public consumption. If you have a problem with what I write. There’s always other blogs out there; or you can start your own.

Oh, as for the accusation of Israel being terrorists. That is laughable on it’s face. Has Israel done things that I disagree with? Yes. But to use the word “terrorist” and Israel in the same sentence — is telling of the person using it. Not to mention it is just obvious that you are either; one, a Palestinian or a Neo-Nazi. Both of which I have no desire to give you anymore time, than I have to.

That is all.

Good Question

It is a legit question:

Like Justin Raimondo, I am curious as to why Rand would bother to meet such people. They currently hold no office government. Kristol’s Weekly Standard magazine was worth peanuts on the open media market and all of their views and knowledge of foreign policy should have been utterly discredited after the debacle in Iraq. Why would a man presumably on a victory lap in his election feel the need to meet with people who have no discernible power, have been made to look like fools and who tried to keep him from getting nominated during the primary last spring? What’s next, a meeting with the leadership of the Kentucky chapter of the AFL-CIO in a Louisville parking garage? – The American Conservative » Rand’s secret rendezvous

I think it deserves a legit answer. Is Rand just another pushover to the Zionist Neo-Con right or will he stand up to them?

My thoughts on Meg Whitman-Gate

Here is the deal. This lady wanted to run for Senate. She knew damned well, what she did. But yet, she decided to run anyhow. Now, her husband is basically saying, “Well, maybe we did screw up.”

Michelle Malkin blames the maid; sorry, I do not buy that; I am not saying she isn’t being pushed to this stuff, and I am fully aware that she is faking the emotional crap.

I place the blame squarely on Meg Whitman. She knew damned well what she hired and decided to do it anyhow. Now that she’s caught, she’s playing dumb. Sorry Meg, we’re a bit smarter than that.

Which brings me to my point: Why the hell do people, who want to run for public office, do extremely stupid stuff? Makes zero sense to me. I mean, they should know that sooner or later, they are going to get caught. It is more than just an oversight; it is just blantant stupidity. Not that we need much more of that on our side of the political fence. I mean, we cannot critize liberals and thier idiotic polices, if we Conservatives are basically doing the same thing.

This about all that I have to say about this one. I mean, if the Republican Party of California cannot vet thier canidates any better than this; then they have no business being in power.

Sad News: Joseph Sobran has passed.

Some Sad news to report….:

The 20th century produced many great conservative writers, but none brought together wit, erudition, and humanity on a single page so well as Joseph Sobran. He was a remarkable man: even seeming quite frail at a gathering in his honor last December, he had a mind as accurate as precision clockwork, able to recall Shakespearean verses he had memorized decades earlier. He lived T.S. Eliot’s dictum that there are no lost causes because there are no gained causes, and he hated cant and injustice. News of his death today is a terrible shock, despite his long illness. He will be missed. — The American Conservative » Joseph Sobran, 1946-2010

A tragic loss… Prayers for the family. 🙁

Video: Government Fundamentalists

UPDATED: What in the hell was this meatball James O’Keefe thinking?

From the “Seriously, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!?!?!?” file:

The Video:

The Story via CNN:

Lusby, Maryland (CNN) — A conservative activist known for making undercover videos plotted to embarrass a CNN correspondent by recording a meeting on hidden cameras aboard a floating “palace of pleasure” and making sexually suggestive comments, e-mails and a planning document show.

James O’Keefe, best known for hitting the community organizing group ACORN with an undercover video sting, hoped to get CNN Investigative Correspondent Abbie Boudreau onto a boat filled with sexually explicit props and then record the session, those documents show.

The plan apparently was thwarted after Boudreau was warned minutes before it was supposed to happen.

“I never intended to become part of the story,” Boudreau said. “But things suddenly took a very strange turn.”

Here is another quote, and I realize that I might just catch grief for linking and quoting this; but at this point, I personally do not give two flips. Over at the liberal Media Matters for America, the following was said:

Riding a motorcycle on a wire stretched across the Grand Canyon is a “stunt.” Wearing a chicken suit to mock a political candidate for refusing to debate is a “stunt.” Unscrewing the cap on a salt shaker so your dining companion over-salts his soup is a “prank.”

Lying to a reporter in order to lure her onto a boat under false pretenses, then secretly recording her reaction to being confronted in an enclosed, unfamiliar environment by a strange man with handcuffs and sex toys, all while disparaging her as a “bubble-headed-bleach-blonde,” is not a “stunt.” It is the vicious, misogynist act of a twisted person whose 15 minutes should have expired long ago.

Let me officially go on the record saying that I agree with this one hundred percent.  James O’Keefe should be chased out of the damned Conservative movement and ran out of it on a damned rail. This idiot is not doing a fucking thing for the Republican Party, for Conservatism, or any other damned thing related to it at all.

Of course, Sir-Idiot-Much, has this to say for his defense:

The document states it was written by “Ben.” According to the e-mail chain obtained by CNN, Ben Wetmore sent the document to O’Keefe and Santa. In a statement e-mailed to CNN, O’Keefe wrote: “That is not my work product. When it was sent to me, I immediately found certain elements highly objectionable and inappropriate, and did not consider them for one minute following it.”

He did not respond to follow-up questions. Wetmore did not respond to our questions about the document. Instead, he posted a YouTube video criticizing CNN’s coverage of the ACORN story.

What a lying piece of crap! This moronic tool got busted and now, he is trying to lie his way out of it. Here is hoping that CNN and this poor woman, sues the living crap out of this idiot and his so-called organization or that the Maryland Attorney General Office files charges against this moron. I mean, could you imagine the charges that this guy would faced; if he had actually went through with this and succeeded? Holy Hell! 😯

This goes well beyond your liberal versus conservative argument; this veers off into the misogynistic area. I notice that the Conservative Blogosphere is strangely silent about this too. I cannot for the life of me, understand why any conservative would even remotely defend this moron’s actions at all. There is no defense, he is a creep and ought to be blacklisted from the Conservative movement once and for all.

Please, folks, do not misunderstand me here, at all. I am all for arguing against the idea of big Government, entitlement of racial and gender type, and even protesting the Governmental take over of healthcare — hell, I even understand the liberals have basically overtaken the media and I am all for exposing their double standards. But not only do I think that this quite stupid, not to mention illegal.  This is just straight up wrong and immoral, not to mention folks; it is just downright destructive to our cause. I mean, seriously, what the hell is doing something idiotic like this, going to do for our cause? Nothing! —-But make us even more stupid looking, that we already look to the left now.

In short and the bottom line: This was ill-conceived and the people behind it ought to be ostracized out of the movement…. for good.

Memeorandum Roundup Here

Update: True to form, the Conservative media has turned out to denounce O’Keefe:

Brent Bozell III of Media Research Center:

The MRC unequivocally denounces James O’Keefe for his attempted assault on CNN. It isn’t just childish and immature; it’s ugly, dishonest and filthy. There is no place in the conservative movement for this type of behavior and that’s exactly what I warned about in a commentary piece I submitted to CNN.com just two days ago.

“Could the Citizen Journalist abuse the public trust?” I wrote in this piece that should run in the next few days. “Hypothetically, of course. Conservatives must all guard against this. Let there be scrutiny, by all means.” And I repeat: there must be scrutiny.

Bottom line: We want nothing to do with O’Keefe or his dirty antics.

If an enterprising citizen can expose media bias with a video camera and good idea, that’s a good thing. But I fail to see how luring a lone female reporter to a remote location and isolating her on a boat, surrounding her with sex toys and pornography, and trying to convince her that the virtual stranger sitting next to her is coming on to her, possibly in front of a “sex tape machine,” does that. That’s not a recipe for a gotcha video, it’s more like a step-by-step instruction on how to cause discomfort and fear. What an ugly and potentially traumatic situation to create on purpose. It’s not clever or funny, it’s sick.

There will no doubt be more details and, one assumes from the reporting, emails, that will fully establish who wrote what and whether O’Keefe was going to go through with the plan or not. Those details will probably be reported by Boudreau, an actual journalist.

So no, I don’t think “stunt” or “prank” are the right words. I think the one I would use is “despicable.”

Oh and Izzy Santa? Good for you.

Well put gentlemen, good form.

In this edition of the Reality Report, Gary dissects a recent article by a writer at the Economist slamming Constitutionalists. He takes an in-depth look at genetically modified foods with the help of “Common Sense Revisited” author Clyde Cleveland and Jeffrey Smith, author of “Genetic Roulette.”

Nina has the run down in this week’s headlines. She discusses how S. 3804, the ‘Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act’ could affect your internet surfing, how the Pentagon is trying to ban books, and why the Patriot Act doesn’t just apply to terrorism.

All of this plus a dip into the Mailbag to reveal the shocking answers to the previous Question of the Week, and a new Enemy of the State.

Mission Accomplished: Grayson will most likely lose his seat to Webster

Good. Looks like ol’ Christian-bashing Jew Alan Grayson will lose his job. Could not happen to a better idiot:

In one of the most closely watched U.S. House races in the nation, Republican Daniel Webster now holds a 7-point lead over Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson in Central Florida’s 8th Congressional District, according to a new Sunshine State News Poll.

Webster, a former state senator, leads the freshman congressman 43-36 in the survey of 559 likely voters conducted Sept. 25-27. TEA (“Taxed Enough Already”) Party candidate Peg Dunmire drew 6 percent and NPA hopeful George Metcalfe garnered 3 percent, while 9 percent remained undecided (2 percent cited “other” and 1 percent refused to state).

Digging deeper, the numbers look even worse for Grayson as 51 percent of respondents said they had an unfavorable view of the Orlando-area congressman.

“Grayson has real problems here,” said Jim Lee, president of Voter Survey Service, which conducted the poll for Sunshine State News.

“He’s even more unpopular than the president, which is not surprising given how controversial he has been with his rhetoric, overall style and TV ads.”

Lee added, “It’s fascinating that both Grayson and the president have virtually the same image (a positive/negative ratio of 34/51), but Grayson is actually disliked more by independents (36/47 favorable/unfavorable) while Obama is only 36/37.”

Andy Sere, spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee in Washington, D.C., said the Central Florida district “is ripe for a Republican pick-up, even if we weren’t running against Alan Grayson.”

Calling Grayson’s views “so far outside the maintstream,” Sere predicted that “a large swath of independents and conservative Democrats will hand him a resounding defeat in November.”

Tom Gaitens, Florida director for FreedomWorks, said the Washington, D.C-based tea group has focused on the CD8 race “from the beginning.”

“Grayson is an obnoxious antagonist to tea partiers and raised the ire of the movement,” Gaitens said. “He’s probably the biggest lightning rod-type candidate in the nation.”

With controversial TV ads like “Taliban Dan,” in which the Democrat tried to portray the Baptist Webster as a religious extremist, “Grayson put himself in the crosshairs,” Gaitens said.

“It’s his character to say foolish things, and he doesn’t handle stress well. He’ll see this poll and get more desperate,” said Gaitens, who predicts a 10-point victory for Webster.

via Poll: Obama, Dems Poised to Lose Grayson House Seat | Sunshine State News.

Let that be a lesson to the Democratic Party. You allow your candidates to bash Christians, and in this man’s case — Baptists. You pay the price at the polls. As I said in the title — Mission Accomplished. 😀

Roundup in the Blogosphere: Hot Air, Michelle Malkin, The Atlantic Online, Weekly Standard, National Review, JammieWearingFool, RedState, Mediaite, The Politico and The Plum Line

Sorry, But President Obama’s answer on Christianity was lousy

See this first: (H/T HotAir.com)

Sorry, but I wholeheartedly reject President Obama’s claim of being a Christian. He is not, at least by the definition of a Christian according to the Word of God. Here are the scriptures that testify to what exactly Salvation in Christ really is:

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:7-13 KJV)

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (Romans 3:10 KJV)

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23 KJV)

Now, what must be done:

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23 KJV)

How this is accomplished:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:9-13 KJV)

Anything other than this is Religious nonsense and is a lie. Period.

Democratic Party Representative Alan Grayson is a disgrace to the Jewish Race and to Judaism itself

I have avoided writing about this topic, because not too long ago, I was branded a Neo-Nazi and Anti-Semite by those whose business it is to play that card.  However, as a Christian, as an American Conservative —- I will not sit idly by and allow a Jewish man to slander a Christian man in this manner.

However, let me say this; this is not about hatred towards a Jewish man.  This is about a liberal man, who happens to be Jewish, taking a very nasty swipe at Christianity —- All in the name of politics. Let me clear, I said this in the title and I will say it again. Alan Grayson is an utter disgrace to the Jewish race and to Judaism itself. Alan Grayson should be refuted and severely chastised by the Democratic Party and told to remove the ad or be removed as the candidate for the House of Representatives.  There is no place in politics for the bashing of political opponents religion.

Here is the video in question:

Now here are the words of Daniel Webster in their proper context:

Now this is very surprising, even Contessa Brewer over at MSNBC; much to her credit would not even let this one go:

Okay, can we be real about this now?  If a Christian Conservative Republican candidate had attacked a Democratic Party candidate like this, the outrage would be apoplectic.  However, because it is a Jewish man attacking a Christian — there is not a word of outrage. My question is why are not AIPAC and the many other Jewish lobbying groups putting out a statement condemning this sort of obvious slander of Christianity, by a liberal Jew?

I mean, could you just imagine; if a Republican Candidate put something like this out?

Could you just image what the Liberal Blogosphere would do to that person?  —- Not to mention some in the Neo-Conservative Blogosphere!  So, why is that this man is getting away with this, without any repercussions from the Democratic Party?  Why is not AIPAC condemning it? Why is this man getting a free pass by the liberals?

While you are thinking about this:

Donate to Daniel Webster’s campaign!

Again, this is not about hate at all, it is about realism folks —-  If the Republican Candidate had even remotely thought about putting an ad like the one above by a one David Duke.  The outrage would be off the charts.  However, because Alan Grayson is a Jewish liberal he gets a free pass.  Why is that?

Until those in the media are willing to ask those questions, it is nothing more the rube for the Democratic Party and for the likes of Alan Grayson.

27. Political Byline: This blog is packed with enough videos and pictures to keep anyone’s attention.

I like to think that we’re more than just a video site. But, I will take any sort of good press that I can get; especially seeing the bad press as of late. 😀

So, Um, I am just stoked that we got mentioned somewhere. 😀

Not that it is a big surprise, but Fox News is murdering MSNBC in ratings

I happen to know why too… but first:

Via Politico:

More people are getting their news about the upcoming election from cable television than any other source, and from Fox News more than any other cable channel, according to a POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Poll released Monday.

The poll found that 81 percent of those polled get their news about the midterm elections from cable channels, like Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, or their websites, compared with 71 percent from national network news channels, such as ABC, NBC or CBS, and their websites.

Among cable news channels, Fox was the clear winner, with 42 percent of respondents saying it is their main source, compared with 30 percent who cited CNN and 12 percent who rely on MSNBC.

The results show the growing influence that 24-hour cable news has on shaping the political consciousness, despite the fact that network newscasts still draw many multiples of the number of viewers of even the highest-rated cable news shows.

“Because people can tune into cable at any time of day, I think the cumulative audience is probably larger than the cumulative audience for the three network news shows,” said Chris Arterton, dean of the George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management.

The real funny part about this, is the following:

Fox’s opinionated personalities were also rated as having the greatest positive impact on the political debate in the country. Bill O’Reilly was rated as having, by far, the greatest positive impact, with 49 percent of respondents rating him positively, and 32 percent negatively.

Glenn Beck was the second most-positively rated personality, with 38 percent of respondents saying he had a positive impact, and 32 percent saying he had a negative impact.

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was the third-most-positively ranked, with 36 percent saying he has a positive impact on the discourse, but his negatives far outweighed his positives, with 52 percent saying he has a negative impact.

“To some extent, Limbaugh has become almost a caricature in a way, so I don’t know how much influence he has beyond entertainment value,” Arteron said. “Whereas, in some way, the other people on Fox are seen as more legitimate news operations.”

MSNBC’s personalities were largely ranked as unknown by respondents: 70 percent said they had never heard of Ed Schultz, 55 percent said they had never heard of Rachel Maddow and 42 percent said they had never heard of Keith Olbermann.

The reason?

So True....

(Borrowed from Weasel Zippers)

There is a personal angle to this story and I am going to share it with you.  During the 1990’s, I was a watcher of CNN, mainly because that was about the only cable news outlet out there at the time.  Please keep in mind that back on those days, I was very unaware or unconcerned about media bias.  I always knew that the media, which I referred to, at the time, as the “secular media”; always had a bias against Christianity, Christians and the Church World as a whole.

However, I really do not know when it started really, most likely, after the election of George W. Bush; but it seemed like the bias and antagonistic mentality towards Christians, Christianity, and the Church World began to come to a feverish pitch around 2006 or so.  At least, that is when I began to notice it with any somewhat real cognizant effort.   The straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak, is when CNN did a special called “What is a Christian?”  Which I felt was a purposeful attack on Christianity in general.  However, when they did a special on Muslims, it was titled “God’s Warriors.”  That is when I decided that CNN had “Crossed the Rubicon” in my book.  So, I switched to MSNBC.  I knew that MSNBC would be a bit like CNN, but they had tucker Carlson on there.  Therefore, that would balance it out.  I remembered tucker from the CNN days —- I also remember him being a bit of an asshole as well. I knew about his background, which admittedly made me cringe a bit. However, when I began watch his show, I found that I actually began agreeing with what he was saying.  I should also point out, that this was around the time, that I began blogging.  I was inspired, mainly by Lou Dobbs and with an utter frustration with what the Bush Administration was doing in Iraq.

However, things over at MSNBC began to change; first off, Tucker’s show was cancelled, that just flat out angered me.  I thought Tucker’s show balanced out the other opinions, like Olbermann. Then the jockeying of talent around, all of whom had one thing in common — They were all liberal.  That bothered me a bit. Therefore, I did what any sane, reasoned person would do.  I began to watch Fox News — in a very limited fashion at first.  I would watch Keith Obermann’s show at eight o’clock and then I would catch the repeat of Bill O’Reilly’s show at Eleven o’clock.

I should also mention that around this time, is when I began to see the writing on wall, so to speak, in the Democratic Party.  The Party that once stood for middle class people and people like me, who were held back, due to personal circumstances, was becoming the party of identity politics. I also began to see that the Democratic Party was much biased and geared against middle class and above white people —- like me.  Yes, I am aware, that identity politics and gender entitlement always was a faction within the Democratic Party.  However, until the 2007 Primary, I do not believe that it was the “mainstay” of that party.  In 2007, that all changed, with the battle between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama; it was the blacks against the feminists and that was when I decided that enough was enough.  Also around this time, my blog was hacked and I had to start over from scratch and I decided that cheering for the left; even though I was a left-of-center and not really ever a fully-fledged Democrat — was an exercise in abject folly.  Therefore, I began blogging from an Independent standpoint and as time went on, I found myself agreeing more and more with the right on most, if not all issues.

Now there are some issues that I am in disagreement with, however, they are nothing worth totally separating me from the right.  Most of them are on the framing of arguments against the left.  Example: Socialism and Unions —- I believe it to be a credible argument to say that socialism has contributed to the downfall of Michigan and the Detroit area.  Further, I believe it to be a legitimate argument to say that the Unions have added to the cost of vehicles offered by the auto companies.  The problem is that the right needs to work on the polish and verbiage of those legitimate arguments.  Casting unions in the light of some covert Communist operation does nothing but make the right look like total buffoons.

Finally, my viewing of MSNBC finally stopped, after a woman by the name of Janeane Garofalo took to the airwaves on MSNBC and declared on Keith Olbermann’s show that the Tea Party movement was nothing more than a bunch of racist white people and racist rednecks.  It was at that point, when I decided, that Keith Olbermann and his show were not something that I felt that I needed to watch any longer.  I am sorry, but when you use your show and one of your guests as a proxy to insult a particular ethnic group of people — especially one that I happen to be involved in — you are practicing the politics of exclusion; and that is, I am afraid, not something that I can and will ever support.  The Bush Administration tried this back in 2003, during the run up to and after the start of the Iraq War.  Those that were opposed to the war in Iraq were labeled by the Bush Administration and its supporters as Anti-American.  Conversely, it is believed by some, that certain persons within the Bush Administration purposely derailed the career of a covert C.I.A. agent of whom husband did criticize the decision to go to war.

This all again, is the practice of derisive politics, something I thought that the left detested; however, it seems that the left engaged in the same sorts of folly themselves — Not only in just the general politics itself, but also in the media coverage — but also in the actually reporting of news as well.  I remember well how Keith Olbermann and many of his fellow liberals liked and still do like to blast Fox News for allow opinion to seep into the normal news programs in the morning.  However, I have watched MSNBC, and have seen liberal bias in the morning news reporting there as well.  Therefore, to this writer, that nullifies any argument that the left has against Fox News or any other sort of Conservative outlet.  I mean, it only makes sense that you cannot criticize someone for doing something that you do yourself.  Then again, common sense does not seem to be in great abundance in liberal Democrat circles these days.  Just look at whom the Democratic Party installed as President — that ought to speak volumes as to the condition of liberalism, and the Democratic Party in general in this modern day and age.  I mean a perfect example of the elite liberal establishment can be seen, when Bill Maher calls those who do not want the nationalized heathcare, as stupid.  This is the attitude of the liberal populace and establishment as a whole; that most Americans are uneducated stupid people, who must have the enlightened ones makes the decisions, because most Americans are too stupid to know what it good for them — that is essentially liberalism distilled to its basic parts.  This is why I sided against them.  They do not trust people like me, to be able to make our own decisions.  Further, they wish to quell my free will, which is given to me, by God himself, to accept or reject what it is that they wish to foist upon me.

In closing of this rather long article — I am quite the windbag, when I want to be — the reason for these dismal ratings for MSNBC is that that network has and is continuing to engage in intellectual dishonesty.  This began right after the election of President Barack Obama.  This should be proof that you just cannot propagandize the American people — not for very long anyhow.  Americans are just smarter than the liberal elite and some elite among the Conservative establishment, give them credit for being.  Americans just have that uncanny ability to know when they are being sold a line of tripe.

This friends, is what makes us a great Nation and for this, I am eternally grateful.

Quote of the Day

We won’t win the war on terror simply by killing, capturing, and imprisoning al-Qaeda terrorists and Taliban fighters; but neither can we afford to let up on them. If we pull out of Iraq or Afghanistan before those countries have governments that are stable enough to keep a tight lid on our enemies, we’ll soon be right back where we started. We can use missile and drone attacks and covert forces to kill our enemies in Yemen and Pakistan; but what do you think will happen when the next Umar Abdulmutallab or Faisal Shahzad succeeds in killing hundreds or thousands of Americans? Will we not again retaliate?

The negative effects of permanent war on the U.S. armed forces, on the American people, and on America’s diminishing financial resources are obvious. When compared to the effects of a chemical, biological, or nuclear terrorist weapon going off in an American city, however, those effects become secondary considerations.

No matter how much President Obama or his successor may want to end the permanent war, there is no exit strategy in a war with an enemy that relentlessly attacks the U.S. homeland. We can’t negotiate our way out, like we did in Korea; nor can we simply decide it’s costing too much in lives and treasure and walk away from it, as we did from Vietnam. This time the enemy will come after us.

Whatever your views on America’s ongoing multi-front war, it is not going to end anytime soon. We’ll be fighting this war “for the rest of our lives and probably our kids’ lives.” The Pentagon, the White House, and the American people must come together on a strategy for sustaining that fight until we ultimately defeat our enemy.

Police State? The Erik Scott Shooting

As you all know, as a Conservative, I believe in rule of law. However, I am keenly aware that Law Enforcement has been known to overstep its bounds at times.

This Series is extremely difficult to read, but I ask you to read it.

Vox Day writes at his blog:

One police officer commented: “Seems as if many here are not willing to give Law Enforcement the benefit of the doubt until the inquest is over. This saddens me as a Police Officer and retired Marine.”

No, we’re not. Because Law Enforcement doesn’t merit it anymore. Not all cops are murderers, thieves, and pedophiles, but most cops are willing to look the other way whenever their “brother” cops commit crimes. And that is why they fully merit the contempt in which they are now held by so many Americans. A badge is not a license to commit more crime than the average civilian, it is an indication that the police are to be held to a higher standard of behavior, not a lower one.

Indeed.

Bill Maher gets schooled on what a libertarian really is

Nothing like watching a self absorbed douche bag getting schooled by another self absorbed douche bag.

Via the Busters:

Transcript:

AMY HOLMES, CNN CONTRIBUTOR: In point of fact, Democrats did talk about healthcare endlessly. President Obama went out on the stump talking about, “Pass this bill, pass this bill.” Bill Clinton said once it was passed it would become popular. Bill Clinton now, he confesses that he made a mistake, that it has not become more popular.

BILL MAHER, HOST: It’s been kicked in for two days…

HOLMES: It’s become less popular, and here’s why.

MAHER: …and most of it doesn’t kick in till 2014. Could we wait till people see it before we can judge whether it’s popular?

HOLMES: You’re asking why…

(AUDIENCE APPLAUSE)

MAHER: Please, sorry.

HOLMES: But you’re asking why Democrats are not campaigning on this. Because in the next 40 days with a bill that is hugely unpopular, it’s not good for their re-election process.

MAHER: It would be popular if they would talk about it. They could have, if they could stand up for what they believe they could have passed Medicare for all. That’s what they should have done. What they should have said is insurance companies have a million other things to insure. They insure your car and your house and if it rains and there’s a flood and an earthquake and Betty Grable’s legs and a million other things. They don’t need to also insure life. Life should be off the table.

HOLMES: They talked endlessly about it and their agenda was rejected by the American people, that’s a simple fact.

MAHER: Because they’re stupid.

This is where it gets good:

ANDREW BREITBART: So you’re, you’re officially not a Libertarian anymore, right? I mean, this position…

MAHER: Well..

BREITBART: …has run so far from the Libertarian position. Is this, so you admit that you have more of a, you know, European socialist leaning perspective on this issue?

(AUDIENCE LAUGHTER)

BREITBART: Why is that funny?

MAHER: I’m, I’m not afraid, it’s not, I’m not afraid to say European socialism works.

No true-blue libertarian would ever say that, at all.

AllahPundit chimes in:
The funniest thing about this? I’m not sure Maher does know. He knows he’s more socialist than libertarian when it comes to health care, but as a general proposition about how he self-identifies, he seems hesitant when Breitbart puts it to him. That’s a testament, I think, to how intellectually attractive the libertarian brand is, ironically almost in inverse proportion to how successful it is at the polls. Democrats bristle at the “socialist” label but tell any Republican pol or pundit except Mike Huckabee that he’s a “libertarian” — especially in the year of the tea party — and he’s likely to agree, albeit with qualifiers. And why not? The brand means free markets, property rights, civil liberties, and most importantly for Maher, permissiveness towards drug use and sexual behavior. The Constitution + fun = crazy delicious. And because libertarianism tends to operate in popular debate as a critique of mainstream conservatism (even though, of course, economically it’s a much sharper critique of liberalism), it’s a useful way of endorsing certain elements of the GOP agenda without endorsing the entire rotten GOP brand, essentially shorthand for saying, “I like capitalism but I’m too thoughtful to be a Republican.” None of which is meant to impugn committed libertarians like the Reason crew, just guys like Maher who dig the label and the slight charge of dissident chic that it carries so much that they’re reluctant to part with it, even after they’ve (d)evolved into center-left Democrats.

True ‘dat! 😀

The difference is, that libertarians actually believe, unlike most Republicans, that big Government is actually a problem. Where most Republicans say that big Government is a problem, but in another breath praise big Government. (Hello Social Security!)

The Obligatory Stephen Colbert makes Washington D.C. look a like a joke posting

Stephen Colbert has proven to Americans what many, including myself, have believed for years; that politics in Washington D.C. is a horrific joke gone horribly bad.

First the Video:

Many in the Blogging community are quite angry about the little stunt pulled off by Stephen Colbert.  However, I believe many are missing the broader point that I believe was being made by Stephen Colbert.  The broader point is this; politics in Washington DC, not by just the Democrats, but by the Republicans as well — is nothing more than a horrific joke gone horribly bad.

The Democrats have proven this, by their idiotic socialist programs that nobody has ever really wanted, but has had them crammed down their throats for the last 50 years.  Then it is with the Republicans and their supposed new plan, which is nothing more than old tired Neo-Conservative, water-down theocratic nonsense that the Republican Party and the social Conservatives have been pimping to the American masses as “true Americanism” for years.

The truth is, my dear readers, is this; The Republican Party during the Bush era got addicted to spending, and took the proverbial car and went joy riding in it.  The Democratic Party took that car and got the keys away from the Republicans, got in that car, and proceeded to drive it over a cliff and ruin the Democratic Party in the process.  Now, the Republicans want to get in what is left of that car and drive it off another cliff again; and proceed back to the same spending on the same pet projects.  Pet projects like the military industrial complex that they have been building since around the time of President Eisenhower.  The sick and sad part is that the American people will most likely be just damned gullible enough to allow them to do it all over again.

This process will continue until someone from an independent party, with millions decides to run and put a stop to the madness or unless, which will likely be the case; or our Nation goes totally broke and our currency system becomes valueless. Which I happen to believe will most likely happen very quickly, unless we stop with the idiotic spending that we have absolutely no money at Ft. Knox to cover in gold. Why do you think that I have the program on here, so that my readers can invest in Gold if they want to? Because I happen to know that something, whatever it is, is going to happen to our monitory system, if we do not quit this crazy spending; and I want my readers to have a way to survive, if it does happen.  If it does not, then hey, what have you lost?  Nothing at all — – and you will have a little extra come retirement time.

I mean, I really get a huge kick out of these Conservatives, who believe that the Republicans taking back the White House and Congress are going to mean a return to Reagan Conservatism.  That has to be the biggest slap in the face to everyone who has even remotely admired Ronald Reagan.  Reagan knew what these Neo-Conservatives wanted, and he kept them at arm’s length.  Ronald Reagan also was a bit of an economic populist, and he despised those who wanted outright globalism — which, by the way, the Democrats, arm in arm with the globalist Neo-Conservatives; finally was able to bring to pass, at the expense of the American worker.

However, we must be real about President Ronald Reagan; he too was not a perfect President either.  Under President Ronald Reagan, the federal deficit went up.  President Ronald Reagan, by all accounts, was a dismal failure at dealing with international terrorism.  This too was taken advantage of, by the Neo-Conservatives, starting with George H.W. Bush and his “New World Order” something that the supporters of Ronald Reagan, particularly the hardcore Conservative Christian crowd, heard as “One World Government” and fled the Republican Party in large numbers.

Therefore, while I believe that Stephen Colbert’s appearance on the hill might have been a huge embarrassment for Democrats.  I believe it just shows us, where big Government liberalism and Rockefeller Conservatism also known as Neo-Conservatism has gotten this Country in the last 30 years.  However, I do not expect the current Republican Party or the Democratic Party will ever return to their pro-American moral foundations anytime soon.  Much too many social, ethnic, and religious special interest groups are controlling both political parties in Washington D.C.

The G.O.P’s “Pledge to America” is nothing more retread Neo-Conservative, Theocracy nonsense

This is pretty rich; The Republican Party is trotting out the same old George W. Bush style of Governence, with some new promises. Promises that the Republican Party actually expect the American people to believe that they will actually keep.

Let us go through this thing, shall we?

This comes Via CBS NEWS:

CBS News has obtained a final draft of House Republicans’ legislative agenda for the next Congress, a 21-page "Pledge to America" that they will formally unveil Thursday morning at a Virginia hardware store.

"The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated," the introduction says.

It continues: "With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America."

Let look at this thing shall we? I mean, I need a good laugh! I will spare you the hum drum, "Patriot" sounding nonsense and puffery, and I will get to the meat and point out the crap.

We pledge to honor families, traditional marriage, life, and the private and faith-based organizations that form the core of our American values.
We pledge to make government more transparent in its actions, careful in its stewardship, and honest in its dealings.
We pledge to uphold the purpose and promise of a better America, knowing that to whom much is given, much is expected and that the blessings of our liberty buoy the hopes of mankind.
We make this pledge bearing true faith and allegiance to the people we represent, and we invite fellow citizens and patriots to join us in forming a new governing agenda for America.

Hmmm, Sounds like they want to turn America into a theocracy.

Continuing:

Permanently Stop All Job-Killing Tax Hikes: We will help the economy by permanently stopping all tax increases, currently scheduled to take effect January 1, 2011. That means protecting middle-class families, seniors worried about their retirement, and the entrepreneurs and family-owned small businesses on which we depend to create jobs in America.

• Give Small Businesses a Tax Deduction: We will allow small business owners to take a tax deduction equal to 20 percent of their business income. This will provide entrepreneurs with a much-needed infusion of capital for investment and new hiring.

• Rein In the Red Tape Factory in Washington, DC: Excessive federal regulation is a de facto tax on employers and consumers that stifles job creation, hampers innovation and postpones investment in the economy. When the game is always changing, small businesses cannot properly plan for the future. To provide stability, we will require congressional approval of any new federal regulation that has an annual cost to our economy of $100 million or more. This is the threshold at which the government deems a regulation “economically significant.” If a regulation is so “significant” and costly that it may harm job creation, Congress should vote on it first.

• Repeal Job-Killing Small Business Mandates: One of the most controversial mandates of the Democrats’ government takeover of health care requires small businesses to report to the Internal Revenue Service any purchases that run more than $600. This 1099 reporting mandate is so overbearing that the IRS ombudsman has determined that the agency is ill-equipped to handle all the resulting paperwork.. We will repeal this job-killing small business mandate.

This was all promised before and never was enacted.

Act Immediately to Reduce Spending: There is no reason to wait to reduce wasteful and unnecessary spending. Congress should move immediately to cancel unspent “stimulus” funds, and block any attempts to extend the timeline for spending “stimulus” funds. Throwing more money at a stimulus plan that is not working only wastes taxpayer money and puts us further in debt.

• Cut Government Spending to Pre-Stimulus, Pre-Bailout Levels: With common-sense exceptions for seniors, veterans, and our troops, we will roll back government spending to pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels, saving us at least $100 billion in the first year alone and putting us on a path to begin paying down the debt, balancing the budget, and ending the spending spree in Washington that threatens our children’s future.

• Establish a Hard Cap on New Discretionary Spending: We must put common-sense limits on the growth of government and stop the endless increases. Only in Washington is there an expectation that whatever your budget was last year, it will be more this year and even more the next. We will set strict budget caps to limit federal spending on an annual basis. Budget caps were used in the 1990s, when a Republican Congress was able to bring the budget into balance and eventual surplus. By cutting discretionary spending from current levels and imposing a hard cap on future growth, we will save taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.

• Cut Congress’ Budget: This year, Congress increased its own budget by 5.8 percent at a time when families and small businesses across the country are cutting back. We will make Congress do more with less by significantly reducing its budget.

• Hold Weekly Votes on Spending Cuts: Earlier this year, House Republicans launched the YouCut initiative to combat the permissive culture of runaway spending in Congress. Over the course of nine weeks, YouCut produced proposals to save taxpayers more than $120 billion. We will continue to hold weekly votes on spending cuts.

• End TARP Once And For All: Americans are rightly outraged at the bailouts of businesses and entities that force responsible taxpayers to subsidize irresponsible behavior. We will cancel the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), a move that would save taxpayers roughly $16 billion.

• End Government Control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac: Since taking over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the mortgage companies that triggered the financial meltdown by giving too many high risk loans to people who couldn’t afford them, taxpayers were billed more than $145 billion to save the two companies. We will reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by ending their government takeover, shrinking their portfolios, and establishing minimum capital standards. This will save taxpayers as much as $30 billion.

• Impose a Net Federal Hiring Freeze of Non-Security Employees: Small businesses and entrepreneurs are the engine of our economy and should not be crowded out by unchecked government growth. We will impose a net hiring freeze on non-security federal employees and ensure that the public sector no longer grows at the expense of the private sector.

• Root Out Government Waste and Duplication: Once created, federal programs almost never go away, even if the problem they were created to address is no longer relevant. More than 20 states have addressed this problem by requiring that programs end – or “sunset” – by a date certain. We will adopt this requirement at the federal level to force Congress to determine if a program is worthy of continued taxpayer support.

• Reform the Budget Process to Focus on Long-Term Challenges: We will make the decisions that are necessary to protect our entitlement programs for today’s seniors and future generations. That means requiring a full accounting of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, setting benchmarks for these programs and reviewing them regularly, and preventing the expansion of unfunded liabilities.

Again, this was all promised before in the past; and was never done. In fact, spending increased under the previous President.

My favorite so far…:

There is literally no aspect of our economy or our society that the federal government doesn’t tax, regulate or subsidize, and often it does all three at the same time. The most recent edition of the Catalogue of Federal Domestic Assistance listed 2,050 different assistance programs available to states, local governments, for-profit and non-profit organizations, groups, and individuals. Taxpayers are literally funding programs from cradle to grave…

Yes, let’s defund programs for the actual needy, and the Handicapped — like my aunt. Let’s allow them starve. What idiots. 🙄

Here’s the REAL knee slapper!

• Read The Bill: We will ensure that bills are debated and discussed in the public square by publishing the text online for at least three days before coming up for a vote in the House of Representatives. No more hiding legislative language from the minority party, opponents, and the public. Legislation should be understood by all interested parties before it is voted on.

• Adhere To The Constitution: For too long, Congress has ignored the proper limits imposed by the Constitution on the federal government. Further, it has too often drafted unclear and muddled laws, leaving to an unelected judiciary the power to interpret what the law means and by what authority the law stands. This lack of respect for the clear Constitutional limits and authorities has allowed Congress to create ineffective and costly programs that add to the massive deficit year after year. We will require each bill moving through Congress to include a clause citing the specific constitutional authority upon which the bill is justified.

• Make It Easier to Cut Spending: By forbidding amendments on spending bills, Democrats have denied lawmakers the opportunity to tighten Washington’s belt and slash wasteful and duplicative programs. Structure dictates behavior, so we will let any lawmaker — Democrat or Republican — offer amendments to reduce spending.

• Advance Legislative Issues One at a Time: We will end the practice of packaging unpopular bills with “must-pass” legislation to circumvent the will of the American people. Instead, we will advance major legislation one issue at a time.

However, they wish to do this too:

* Pass Clean Troop Funding Bills: When asked to provide our troops with the resources they need, we will do so without delay. That means no more troop funding bills held up by unrelated policy changes, or extraneous domestic spending and pork-barrel projects.

• Keep Terrorists Out of America: We will prevent the government from importing terrorists onto American soil. We will hold President Obama and his administration responsible for any Guantanamo Bay detainees they release who return to fight against our troops or who have become involved in any terrorist plots or activities.

• Demand an Overarching Detention Policy: Foreign terrorists do not have the same rights as American citizens, nor do they have more rights than U.S. military personnel. We will work to ensure foreign terrorists, such as the 9/11 conspirators, are tried in military, not civilian, court. We will oppose all efforts to force our military, intelligence, and law enforcement personnel operating overseas to extend “Miranda Rights” to foreign terrorists.

• Fully Fund Missile Defense: There is real concern that while the threat from Iranian intercontinental ballistic missiles could materialize as early as 2015, the government’s missile defense policy is not projected to cover the U.S. homeland until 2020. We will work to ensure critical funding is restored to protect the U.S. homeland and our allies from missile threats from rogue states such as Iran and North Korea.

• Require Tough Enforcement of Sanctions Against Iran: The Iranian regime is a state-sponsor of terrorism, has actively worked to harm our deployed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and violates the rights and will of its own people. It has declared its determination to acquire a nuclear capability, which threatens its neighbors and the security of the United States. We will work to ensure the government aggressively and effectively implements the sanctions tools Congress has provided.

• Establish Operational Control of the Border: We must take action to secure our borders, and that action starts with enforcing our laws. We will ensure that the Border Patrol has the tools and authorities to establish operational control at the border and prohibit the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture from interfering with Border Patrol enforcement activities on federal lands.

• Work with State and Local Officials to Enforce Our Immigration Laws: The problem of illegal immigration and Mexican drug cartels engaged in an increasingly violent conflict means we need all hands on deck to address this challenge. We will reaffirm the authority of state and local law enforcement to assist in the enforcement of all federal immigration laws.

• Strengthen Visa Security: To stop terrorists like Omar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the Christmas Day bomber, we will require the Department of Homeland Security to review all visa applications at high-risk consular posts and prevent aliens from attempting to avoid deportation after having their visas revoked.

As for immigration; how about we try this novel idea? END ALL IMMIGRATION FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS! Then, using the Government’s already vast resources, we round up, and DEPORT ALL Illegal immigrants in this damn country and BAR THEM from returned to the United States, FOREVER!

Yes, we want to stick to the constitution; but we also want to keep funding the Military industrial complex! This one was really one that makes me ill:

Require Tough Enforcement of Sanctions Against Iran: The Iranian regime is a state-sponsor of terrorism, has actively worked to harm our deployed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and violates the rights and will of its own people. It has declared its determination to acquire a nuclear capability, which threatens its neighbors and the security of the United States. We will work to ensure the government aggressively and effectively implements the sanctions tools Congress has provided.

Oh yes, let’s antagonize the hell out of Iran, until they strike one of our interests overseas; like Iraq and we end up having to go into that Country or some other one, with our interests in it. Which would lead to more War…….again!

Here is a novel idea. How about ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan now? Because Iraq is done; let them people deal with their own Country. Afghanistan is basically lost. The Russians tried rebuilding that god-forsaken wilderness and failed. Why do we think that we can do it any better? Al-Qaeda is basically in Pakistan and so damned well protected; that we will never get them, unless we keep hitting civilian targets. Which only inspires more terrorists. Why not just use CIA Drones and bring out troops home? That or just admit that the United States purposefully let down it’s guard; and end the lie, in the first damned place!  That way, we can usually save some money for defending America from Terrorism here; seeing that we have created this situation of possible blow back from those wanting to hurt America, because of our stupid invasion of Iraq, which had zero to do with 9/11. How is that for a novel idea?

However, no, we would rather continue with the same old Neo-Conservative, Israel-appeasing, polices that caused 9/11 in the first damned place. In the process, we want to bankrupt the Country, by continuing to fund crap like that. Plus, we continue to fund other Countries, like Israel and their healthcare plan, which includes a public option; which America does not even have. Until this stops. America will continue to be in debt for a long time to come.

For what it is worth, I am not the only person that thinks this is crap. Even the folks at RedState hate it.

UPDATED: On the Bob Woodward Book

I am poking my head back in again — to comment on the big Bob Woodward story, that is the top story on Memeorandum.

I am referring to this:

President Obama urgently looked for a way out of the war in Afghanistan last year, repeatedly pressing his top military advisers for an exit plan that they never gave him, according to secret meeting notes and documents cited in a new book by journalist Bob Woodward.

Frustrated with his military commanders for consistently offering only options that required significantly more troops, Obama finally crafted his own strategy, dictating a classified six-page “terms sheet” that sought to limit U.S. involvement, Woodward reports in “Obama’s Wars,” to be released on Monday.

According to Woodward’s meeting-by-meeting, memo-by-memo account of the 2009 Afghan strategy review, the president avoided talk of victory as he described his objectives.

“This needs to be a plan about how we’re going to hand it off and get out of Afghanistan,” Obama is quoted as telling White House aides as he laid out his reasons for adding 30,000 troops in a short-term escalation. “Everything we’re doing has to be focused on how we’re going to get to the point where we can reduce our footprint. It’s in our national security interest. There cannot be any wiggle room.”

Obama rejected the military’s request for 40,000 troops as part of an expansive mission that had no foreseeable end. “I’m not doing 10 years,” he told Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at a meeting on Oct. 26, 2009. “I’m not doing long-term nation-building. I am not spending a trillion dollars.”

Woodward’s book portrays Obama and the White House as barraged by warnings about the threat of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and confronted with the difficulty in preventing them. During an interview with Woodward in July, the president said, “We can absorb a terrorist attack. We’ll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger.”

But most of the book centers on the strategy review, and the dissension, distrust and infighting that consumed Obama’s national security team as it was locked in a fierce and emotional struggle over the direction, goals, timetable, troop levels and the chances of success for a war that is almost certain to be one of the defining events of this presidency.

Obama is shown at odds with his uniformed military commanders, particularly Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. David H. Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command during the 2009 strategy review and now the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan.

Woodward reveals their conflicts through detailed accounts of two dozen closed-door secret strategy sessions and nearly 40 private conversations between Obama and Cabinet officers, key aides and intelligence officials.

Tensions often turned personal. National security adviser James L. Jones privately referred to Obama’s political aides as “the water bugs,” the “Politburo,” the “Mafia,” or the “campaign set.” Petraeus, who felt shut out by the new administration, told an aide that he considered the president’s senior adviser David Axelrod to be “a complete spin doctor.”

During a flight in May, after a glass of wine, Petraeus told his own staffers that the administration was “[expletive] with the wrong guy.” Gates was tempted to walk out of an Oval Office meeting after being offended by comments made by deputy national security adviser Thomas E. Donilon about a general not named in the book.

Suspicion lingered among some from the 2008 presidential campaign as well. When Obama floated the idea of naming Clinton to a high-profile post, Axelrod asked him, “How could you trust Hillary?”

Okay, first off, has everyone forgotten that 90% of what Bob Woodward writes is just straight up, sensationalized Bullshit? The Neo-Cons sure did say that, when Bob Woodward wrote his book about Bush.  However, now the Neo-Cons are treating this book like the Gospel truth; because it is about a Democratic Party President. Of course, the warmongering Neo-Cons are eating the whole bit about the terrorist attack up and basically saying that President Obama wants another attack on America. Which is, of course, straight up bullshit.

Some of the other highlights are:

— Obama told Woodward in the July interview that he didn’t think about the Afghan war in the “classic” terms of the United States winning or losing. “I think about it more in terms of: Do you successfully prosecute a strategy that results in the country being stronger rather than weaker at the end?” he said.

— The CIA created, controls and pays for a clandestine 3,000-man paramilitary army of local Afghans, known as Counterterrorism Pursuit Teams. Woodward describes these teams as elite, well-trained units that conduct highly sensitive covert operations into Pakistan as part of a stepped-up campaign against al-Qaeda and Afghan Taliban havens there.

— Obama has kept in place or expanded 14 intelligence orders, known as findings, issued by his predecessor, George W. Bush. The orders provide the legal basis for the CIA’s worldwide covert operations.

— A new capability developed by the National Security Agency has dramatically increased the speed at which intercepted communications can be turned around into useful information for intelligence analysts and covert operators. “They talk, we listen. They move, we observe. Given the opportunity, we react operationally,” then-Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell explained to Obama at a briefing two days after he was elected president.

— A classified exercise in May showed that the government was woefully unprepared to deal with a nuclear terrorist attack in the United States. The scenario involved the detonation of a small, crude nuclear weapon in Indianapolis and the simultaneous threat of a second blast in Los Angeles. Obama, in the interview with Woodward, called a nuclear attack here “a potential game changer.” He said: “When I go down the list of things I have to worry about all the time, that is at the top, because that’s one where you can’t afford any mistakes.”

— Afghan President Hamid Karzai was diagnosed as manic depressive, according to U.S. intelligence reports. “He’s on his meds, he’s off his meds,” Woodward quotes U.S. Ambassador Karl W. Eikenberry as saying.

Again, I have to ask; how much of this is actual truth and how much of it is sensationalized bullshit?

Liberal Blogger No more Mister Nice Blog puts it correctly:

“It’s in our national security interest” “I am not spending a trillion dollars.” At least he understand that endless war is bad for America.

And the reason that’s important is that, if we’re still deeply mired in Afghanistan as of January 20, 2013, we’ll still be just as deeply mired four years later, because President Palin/Pence/Daniels/Thune/Huckabee/Barbour/Christie sure as hell ain’t gonna withdraw. But this semi-rationality on Obama’s part is going to be lost, and the bullet-point version of this entire book is going to be “Obama plans to surrender in Afghanistan to appease the evil traitorous voters in his party.”

I hate to say it; but he is absolutely correct. Because you all know that the Neo-Conservatives are all about perpetual war. But they call me a Neo-Nazi for pointing that out; and because I refuse to do the “Identity politics” for that particular warmongering class of people. I despise identity politics on the left and the right. That, according to the protected class, is being a Neo-Nazi. Which, like most of Bob Woodward’s writings, is just straight up bullshit.

Update: But of course. That is the same idiot that said that Iraq was an imminent danger to America and the rest of the free world back in 2003. Which of course, like Bob Woodward’s books; was straight up bullshit. 🙄

White House to tie Tea Party Movement to G.O.P.

Believe it or not, they would be right in doing so, because it is Republican operatives who are funding the whole thing.

Via the NYT:

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s political advisers, looking for ways to help Democrats and alter the course of the midterm elections in the final weeks, are considering a range of ideas, including national advertisements, to cast the Republican Party as all but taken over by Tea Party extremists, people involved in the discussion said.

White House and Congressional Democratic strategists are trying to energize dispirited Democratic voters over the coming six weeks, in hopes of limiting the party’s losses and keeping control of the House and Senate. The strategists see openings to exploit after a string of Tea Party successes split Republicans in a number of states, culminating last week with developments that scrambled Senate races in Delaware and Alaska.

“We need to get out the message that it’s now really dangerous to re-empower the Republican Party,” said one Democratic strategist who has spoken with White House advisers but requested anonymity to discuss private strategy talks.

Democrats are divided. The party’s House and Senate campaign committees are resistant, not wanting to do anything that smacks of nationalizing the midterm elections when high unemployment and the drop in Mr. Obama’s popularity have made the climate so hostile to Democrats. Endangered Congressional candidates want any available money to go to their localized campaigns.

Late Sunday night, White House advisers denied that a national ad campaign was being planned. “There’s been no discussion of such a thing at the White House” or the Democratic National Committee, said David Axelrod, Mr. Obama’s senior adviser.

The White House claims that this story is wrong and that New York Times totally blew it. However, of course, they have to say this, because if it ever were officially on the record that the White House was targeting a political movement, it would be political suicide for them.

One thing I will say is this; if the White House was thinking along these lines, that the Tea Party movement was, in fact, being sponsored and supported by operatives within the GOP — they would be absolutely correct in that assumption.  When this Tea Party phenomenon began, I found it to be quite inspiring to see real Americans standing up for the core beliefs that were ingrained into them.  I thought it to be a real genuine movement.  However, as time went on, I began to see some familiar names involved with it —- Fox News, Dick Army, and more.

When I began to see this, the eternal skeptic in me, began questioning, “Why are these people involved?” This is when I decided that this Tea Party movement was nothing more than a Neo-Conservative movement.  Which was being backed by the same people that cheered on, as Bush led us into the war in Iraq —- which we all now know was a tragic mistake.

Now only that, but I have noticed that the Neo-Conservatives will accept and support those who stay on message — when it comes to defense.  However, if a candidate comes up, who does not toe the Neo-Conservative line of defense and about war, they find themselves without support and usually being criticized by the Neo-Conservative establishment in Washington D.C. Worse yet, some of them get accused of being Democratic Party plants.

So, as I said in the beginning of this posting.  While the White House would be committing political suicide, if they officially went on record as wanting to do this; they would be right on point in their line of thinking.

Sounds good to me

It appears that my political and personal ideological leanings has finally put the nail in the coffin between me and Robert Stacy McCain.

Sounds good to me.

When Robert Stacy McCain wrote for Taki’s Magazine; I liked him, quite a bit. However, when he sold out to the Neo-Conservatives; who embraced him, despite his “interesting past“. Which I found to be morbidly ironic — I saw the change.

Well, now, because I refuse to suck up to those who cater to the protected warmongering class; Mr. McCain throws me under bus. How ironic.

Sounds fine; the man wants to be accepted, it sounds reasonable. I do not have such a desire.

I wish you luck McCain. Thanks for the fish. It was fun while it lasted.
