Glenn Beck to leave Fox News and quit show later this year

FOX NEWS AND MERCURY RADIO ARTS ANNOUNCE NEW AGREEMENT

(New York, NY) Fox News and Mercury Radio Arts, Glenn Beck’s production company, are proud to announce that they will work together to develop and produce a variety of television projects for air on the Fox News Channel as well as content for other platforms including Fox News’ digital properties. Glenn intends to transition off of his daily program, the third highest rated in all of cable news, later this year.

Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of Fox News said, “Glenn Beck is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody’s standards. I look forward to continuing to work with him.”??Glenn Beck said: “I truly believe that America owes a lot to Roger Ailes and Fox News. I cannot repay Roger for the lessons I’ve learned and will continue to learn from him and I look forward to starting this new phase of our partnership.”??Joel Cheatwood, SVP/Development at Fox News, will be joining Mercury Radio Arts effective April 24, 2011. Part of his role as EVP will be to manage the partnership and serve as a liaison with the Fox News Channel.??Roger Ailes said: “Joel is a good friend and one of the most talented and creative executives in the business. Over the past four years I have consistently valued his input and advice and that will not stop as we work with him in his new role.”??“Glenn Beck” is consistently the third highest rated program on cable news. For the 27 months that “Glenn Beck” has aired on Fox News, the program has averaged more than 2.2 million total viewers and 563,000 viewers 25-54 years old, numbers normally associated with shows airing in primetime, not at 5pm. “Glenn Beck” has dominated all of its cable news competitors since launch.

I had a feeling this was coming; because when you take a Neo-Conservative warmonger to task, like Glenn Beck did, you usually end up paying a price for it. After that happened, Glenn Beck was smeared by the Neo-Conservative right, as a Anti-Semite. I saw this for myself, especially on twitter. The Funny thing is, The New York Times, ended up proving Glenn Beck to be correct!  So, while I hate to see the guy go, I cannot say that I am shocked at all. The funny part was, that Glenn Beck never actually said the word “Neo-Con” or “Neo-Conservative” at all. He called them everything else, but that! 😀

I was not, admittedly, a daily watcher of Glenn’s program. However, I did catch a show ever now and again. He did have a good amount of interesting stuff. His biggest problem was that he repeated himself, almost to an incessant extreme. Which I found to be quite annoying. Another point I would like to make, is that whether anyone wants to admit it or not; Glenn Beck is the real Godfather of the Tea Party movement. It was the Tea Party movement, that basically, at first, scared the living daylights out of the Republican Party establishment. Then, they tried to ignore it; then they came to embrace it. Which, I felt, was a good thing.  The G.O.P. needed a wake up call and a break from the Big Government Conservatism of the Bush-era, and they got it, with the Tea Party movement. The funny part is, the Liberals have never gotten an equivalent to the Tea Party at all. The Coffee Party fizzled, due to internal conflicts.

Anyhow, I wish Mr. Beck all of the best and I look forward to seeing what is to come. 🙂

Update: As I hit publish; I totally forgot, Van Jones, Anita Dunn and countless others; are feathers in Glenn’s cap.

Fox News’s Glenn Beck lashed out at Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol on his radio show this morning, accusing Kristol of betraying conservatism and missing the significance of what Beck sees as an alliance between Islamism and socialism.

“I don’t even know if you understand what conservatives are anymore, Billy,” Beck said in his extended, sarcastic attack on Kristol. “People like Bill Kristol, I don’t think they stand for anything any more. All they stand for is power. They’ll do anything to keep their little fiefdom together, and they’ll do anything to keep the Republican power entrenched.”

Kristol’s words drew an approving nod from National Review’s Rich Lowry, a rare public repudiation of the influential Fox host from a conservative elite that quietly dislikes him.

Beck, in response, defended his broad theories by reading from the work of the Muslim writer Zudhi Jasser, a sharp critic of most Muslim leaders, to argue of the threat from “Islamic socialism.” He also accused Kristol of propping up Hosni Mubarak, of being stuck in 1973, and of failing to see that “we are fighting the forces of evil on this planet.”

“I think he’s still trying to get Bob Dole elected, i’m not really sure,” said Beck.

“Have you done a minute of research Bill?” Beck asked later, promising to expose the ties between the left and Islamic radicals during this week’s television show and advising Kristol, “Just watch the show in the next week.”

The real hilarious part? Not one time did Glenn Beck use the term Neo-Conservative! He also brought Barry Goldwater into it. Drawing a line from Bill Kristol to Barry Goldwater is about as dumb as drawing a line from Pat Buchanan to Vladimir Lenin. What Glenn Beck was trying to say, but failed to do it right; was that Kristol is a part of the “Big Government” wing of the Republican Party — like the Rockefeller‘s were.  So, if he had used that name — it would have made total sense. But, I give him credit for at least taking Kristol to task.

Glenn Beck might be paranoid and a bit of hand wringer; but once and a while — he knocks one out of the ballpark! Now, if we could just work on that little shrill voice of his…. 😉 😛

But this one takes the farking cake and frosting.

What is Glenn referring to? This little gem:

Like you, I’ve been unable to sleep at night, obsessing about the details of a total stranger’s death by drowning back in 1979.

(If only Media Matters allotted this much online real estate to another young woman’s untimely watery demise; however, typing “Mary Jo Kopechne” into the Media Matters search function yields only four mentions, all of them chiding conservatives for being so gauche as to mention the name of the young woman who died forty years ago when she was a passenger in a car that Senator Ted Kennedy drove off a bridge.) – Go read the rest Please.

If you really must, go read article by Media Matters that is still on the website; despite the objection of some of the commenters on that site.  I mean, when regulars are even telling you, “Hey, this one is a bit over the line“, than obviously you are doing something wrong. If you noticed, I am using TinyURL, because I refuse to give MMFA anymore direct traffic than they are already getting.

I mean, what more proof do we need that socialist liberal media is desperate to steer back the ship and overtake the conversation? These bastards know no bounds at all.

Let me just go on the record saying that David Brock and the entire staff of Media Matters for America deserve to be taken out into a Parking Lot, lined up against a wall and shot dead. Every last damned one of them. They’re bastards, UnAmerican bastards; may they all rot in hell.

Yes, I did say that, and you quote me on it. There is just no excuse for this, at all.
