Taking Issue….

I normally do not comment on things I see written on other Blogs. Because the last time I did it. I did it wrong and a whole bunch of crap got started. This was in another Blog incarnation that I ran, Before I decided that the “Left of Center” of the political pool was NOT where I wanted to be anymore.

So, having said that, let me just say that I do not intend this to be a “Blog War”, at all. Because I am just not interested in fighting over politics, it is just not worth it. So, this is not to be considered picking a fight, but rather just a comment on something written on another Blog. If they happen to come read this, fine. If they don’t, no big loss.

First off, Jeff over at Protein Wisdom said something about the whole Sarah Palin hacked e-mail thing and I kind of took issue with it.

Jeff said:

A quick beef: Anonymous is not, from what I can tell, necessarily “left wing” — though they most certainly are little wannabe fascists. From what I can gather, they likely think of themselves more as TRUTHTELLERS with an anarchist strain, and so may be of the left-libertarian / anarchist bent. In other words, politically confused.

Sorry Jeff, As someone that I.D.’s himself as a Libertarian Conservative, I do have to take issue with that…..and I’ll explain why, okay? So just hear me out a little here.

First off, I do not claim to be a political expert. Not by a long shot. I have learned a bit about Political Ideologies since I began Blogging in February of 2006. One of things that I learned is that there are no “Hard and fast” rules when it comes to political ideologies. I’ve learned when people say, “I am a Conservative”, or “I am a Liberal” or “I am a Libertarian”. That can mean, well, a whole lot of different things.

I know that many people try to dismiss wikipedia as a non-legit source of information. However, when it comes to learning about the different political ideologies and their many sub-divisions (for lack of a better word…)  I found it to be absolutely invaluable.

Some examples:

When I starting feeling like I really just could not place myself among the Liberals. I began to think, “Where do I fit in with the Conservative crowd?” So, I went to Wikipedia and did some reading. After doing a days worth of reading, I discovered that there was a ton of different sub-classes within Conservatism. They are:

There are quite a few more, but these are the main groups with the Conservative movement.

The same goes for Liberalism. The Different groups are:

And… the same goes for Libertarianism as well. The different sub-groups within that Ideology are:

On the Libertarianism scale, I’m somewhere between Moderate Libertarianism and Right-Libertarianism. Where exactly differs on which subject one brings up.

I brought all this up to basically say this. For Jeff to say that Libertarians are politically confused, shows that Jeff’s thought process is quite flawed. I believe that Jeff should take more care in making  blanket statements like this, because, quite frankly, it does show a lack of intelligence on his part. Of course, this is coming from a person who stalked an ex-girlfriend on the Internet and blogged about it. So, one can only expect so much.

The second thing I took issue with is a post written by John Cole over a Balloon Juice. Who is a Conservative turned Liberal. Some would call him a traitor, but I digress.

Cole Writes about something that Malkin Posted over on her Blog:

2.) This response from Malkin is awesome:

“Where are the privacy absolutists now?”

What is the big deal, Michelle? If you haven’t done anything wrong, you don’t have anything to hide, AMIRITE?

Seriously. I would never publish her private emails, but listening to Malkin kvetch about privacy is, after years of listening to her cheerlead the surveillance state, how do I put this… A BIT FUCKING RICH.

Cole, I’m just going to say this, in the nicest way I can convey it to your rather small Liberal mind, okay?

There is a big difference between gathering intelligence from people making phone calls from the United States, over into countries that sponsor terrorism and finding out whether or not someone is going to try and fly a plane into another building or not. and some little computer hacker breaking into the Private E-Mail account of a Vice Presidential candidate for the sole purpose of making a fucking cheap political point.  One is done for the purposes of National Safety, the other is highly against the law.

You’d think that this guy would know this sort of thing. But then again, he is a supporter of a Presidential candidate that would rather negotiate with terrorists and appease them, than either destroy them or bring them to justice. But then again, that is the rather idiotic mind set of the Bush derangement crowd.  I mean, I am not a big fan of Bush myself, but this is just pathetic.
