Why I left the right: Exhibit C for Common Sense
…or a lack of it, by people on the right, that is….
Seems that now that Sen. Lindsey Graham decided to stand up against the bigotry, hatred towards gays and yes, Antisemitism in the GOP. Because this, he is now a lame-duck in the ranks of the GOP.
Chris Cillizza, who is about the only political reporter is has any kind of integrity anymore, has the story:
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R) announcement that he will vote in favor of Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court is likely to further incite conservatives already unhappy with him and, according to close observers of the state’s politics, ensures he will face a serious primary challenge in 2014.
“I think there’s a good reason for a conservative to vote yes,” Graham said this morning.
Graham’s apostasy on Kagan comes after other high profile breaks with conservatives in his state (and nationally) over climate change and immigration reform and will likely make him a central target of those tea party Republicans who helped oust Utah Sen. Bob Bennett in his bid for renomination earlier this year.
“It’s no longer a question of ‘if’ but ‘who’ and ‘how many’,” said one South Carolina Republican operative about a Graham primary challenge. The source added that Graham’s approach on high profile issues of late is “putting Lindsey’s friends and supporters in a really tough place.”
Richard Quinn, a Graham consultant, defended his client — noting that the Senator is “not a demagogue”. Added Quinn: “He’s a thinking person’s conservative. I expect him to do well among voters with IQ’s in triple digits.”
Quinn also noted that it’s more than four years before Graham faces voters again; “There will be many battles fought, lost and won between now and then,” he said.
And, Graham has proven himself to be a very able politician — running what was widely regarded as the best campaign of the 2002 election cycle and easily beating back a primary challenge in 2008 when there was already some conservative unrest directed toward him. He ended June with $2.8 million in the bank.
via The Fix – Lindsey Graham’s vote on Elena Kagan ensures primary challenge.
Because nothing says RINO louder, than voting for a suspected Lesbian Jew Liberal Woman in the Supreme Court of the United States! Just ask Pat Buchanan.
Why I left the Right: Exhibit C for Compassion
….or in this idiots case, exhibit A for asshole:
The people who have been laid off and cannot find work are generally people with poor work habits and poor personalities. I say âgenerallyâ because there are exceptions. But in general, as I survey the ranks of those who are unemployed, I see people who have overbearing and unpleasant personalities and/or who do not know how to do a dayâs work. They are people who create either little utility or negative utility on the job. Again, there are powerful exceptions and I know some, but when employers are looking to lay off, they lay off the least productive or the most negative. To assure that a worker is not one of them, he should learn how to work and how to get along â not always easy. . — Ben Stein over at American Spectator via Think Progress
Coming from someone who has never, ever, done a ounce of physical labor in his life.
This, my friends, is why I being to really back away from the right. What kind of tone-deaf jerk makes a statement like that? Someone who has money and does not need to work; that’s who! I mean, the man was born into a life of privilege. No true working class person would ever make a statement like this, ever. I am however, resisting the temptation of calling this four-eyed jerk some sort of an awful name about his Jewish heritage; I mean, that could have something to do with it. I mean, it is not a myth that most Jews, especially the “well to do” ones, look down the nose at the more “common folk” America — especially we common folk of Christian Heritage. It is no secret that most Jews despise Christians.
Either way, this is a just a classic case of why I basically threw in the towel with the right and now just consider myself a centrist.
Ugly-assed Lesbo heifer gets $35K settlement over canceled prom
Good Lord… đ
JACKSON, Miss. â A rural school district that canceled its prom rather than allow a lesbian student to attend with her girlfriend has agreed to pay $35,000 to settle a discrimination lawsuit the ACLU filed on her behalf.
The district also agreed to follow a non-discrimination policy as part of the settlement, though it argues such a policy was already in place.
Constance McMillen, 18, said the victory came at the price of her being shunned in her small hometown of Fulton.
“I knew it was a good cause, but sometimes it really got to me. I knew it would change things for others in the future and I kept going and I kept pushing,” McMillen said in an interview Tuesday.

The far right’s resident bow tie wearing asshole discovers that progressive journalists actually work together
Ooooh Scary… Must be a commie plot…or something…. đ
The crisis reached a howling pitch in mid-April, 2008, at an ABC News debate moderated by Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos. Gibson asked Obama why it had taken him so long â nearly a year since Wrightâs remarks became public â to dissociate himself from them. Stephanopoulos asked, âDo you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?â
Watching this all at home were members of Journolist, a listserv comprised of several hundred liberal journalists, as well as like-minded professors and activists. The tough questioning from the ABC anchors left many of them outraged. âGeorge [Stephanopoulos],â fumed Richard Kim of the Nation, is âbeing a disgusting little rat snake.â

Updated: Why was this man murdered?
Why was this man killed?
Who did it and Why?
Those are questions that I would like to know….
From KnoxNews.com:
MADISONVILLE, Tenn. â Investigators are tight lipped, rumors are flying and a community is in shock by the discovery Saturday of a body that is widely believed to be Monroe County Election Commission Chairman Jim Miller, stuffed in the trunk of a burning car.
Late Monday afternoon, it was announced that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation had become the lead agency of the four agencies investigating the case.
âIt is Jimâs car, and Jim is missing,â said his longtime attorney and personal friend, John Cleveland, who is the city attorney for Sweetwater, Tenn. âBut everybody would be pleased ⊠to find out that we are wrong (and it is not him).â
Cleveland issued a statement Monday on behalf of Millerâs family that clearly indicates they believe he is the victim. Miller was last seen at the countyâs Election Commission office around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. He was working that day because of early voting, said County Election Administrator James R. Brown.
âHeâd made a call to his wife and was going home, but he never made it home,â Brown said. âThis has got people talking in the county. Itâs got people wondering.
Now why would I even remotely care about this? This is why:
Miller, 60, was a lifelong Sweetwater resident and very active in community affairs and the Republican Party, say people who knew him.
[…]
Besides his Election Commission post, Miller was 1st District chairman of the countyâs Republican Party. He was president of Jim Miller Excavating Co.
Could it be that this man discovered some election fraud in Tennessee or knew about some; and maybe was planning to go public with it, and the Democrats in Tennessee ordered him killed? Is it wrong to ask such questions? After all, President Obama did say, “Get in their faces!” I mean, we already know about the Republican who got shoved and punched by a union goon at a nurses union rally; who is to say that the Democratic National Committee or the Democratic Party in Tennessee did not order this man killed? Something stinks and I think some sort of new media investigation is needed.I would head down there myself; but I do not have the funds to check it out, and I really do not have any reliable transportation.
Let me say this; if this was a hit on a Republican election official, and anyone outside of the State level was involved with this, it could have horrible ramifications for the Democratic Party in the 2010 and 2012 elections. Let me also say this; I normally as a rule do not engage in this sort of speculation, but this one reeks of a plot to murder the political opposition. I just hope that I am wrong and this was an random act of violence towards an old man. However, it does warrant media investigation. However, we all know that the Liberal media will not get involved in this; because it does not fit their narrative.
Update: So far. Not one blogger has replied to my e-mail or even linked. Needless to say, I am not happy with the Conservative Blogosphere right now. đĄ
Update #2: From the comments section:

They get killed over probate and death gifts of estates.
This area is so republican that most people wonât even admit to being a Reagan democrat.
Either way, it is sad.
Update #3: From the comments:
I wanted to update this story. In a surprising turn of events, the Sheriff Deputy who drove by and saw the car burning has been suspended with pay and declared a suspect in the arson and murder. Captain Kenny Hope of the Monroe County Sheriff Department even admitted that he was the only suspect and was questioned by the TBI (Tennessee version of the FBI.)
Captain Kenny Hope was hired in 2006, after Democrat Bill Blevins was elected as the first democratic sheriff and first democratic county-wide office holder in decades. His win was based not because of a political platform but perceived abuse and alleged illegal actions by the proceeding sheriff and disgraced Rep. General Session Judge Edwin Harris (Resigned over drug crimes) and Rep. Judge Hagler (Resigned after tapes were discovered containing sexual fantasies and who was suspected of killing a priest in Chattanooga in a weird sex case.)
Earlier in 2010 Captain Hope and the Mr. Miller was in a conflict during a traffic stop and arrest. The case is so convulsed that the DA and Judge recused themselves and the case was transferred out of County.
Sure enough, here are the links to the story here. Looks like there might just be some corruption on the local level after all.
Washington Post finally discovers that Government is too big
You mean they are just now figuring this out?:
The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.
These are some of the findings of a two-year investigation by The Washington Post that discovered what amounts to an alternative geography of the United States, a Top Secret America hidden from public view and lacking in thorough oversight. After nine years of unprecedented spending and growth, the result is that the system put in place to keep the United States safe is so massive that its effectiveness is impossible to determine.
The investigation’s other findings include:
* Some 1,271 government organizations and 1,931 private companies work on programs related to counterterrorism, homeland security and intelligence in about 10,000 locations across the United States.
* An estimated 854,000 people, nearly 1.5 times as many people as live in Washington, D.C., hold top-secret security clearances.
* In Washington and the surrounding area, 33 building complexes for top-secret intelligence work are under construction or have been built since September 2001. Together they occupy the equivalent of almost three Pentagons or 22 U.S. Capitol buildings – about 17 million square feet of space.
* Many security and intelligence agencies do the same work, creating redundancy and waste. For example, 51 federal organizations and military commands, operating in 15 U.S. cities, track the flow of money to and from terrorist networks.
* Analysts who make sense of documents and conversations obtained by foreign and domestic spying share their judgment by publishing 50,000 intelligence reports each year – a volume so large that many are routinely ignored.
These are not academic issues; lack of focus, not lack of resources, was at the heart of the Fort Hood shooting that left 13 dead, as well as the Christmas Day bomb attempt thwarted not by the thousands of analysts employed to find lone terrorists but by an alert airline passenger who saw smoke coming from his seatmate.
They are also issues that greatly concern some of the people in charge of the nation’s security.
“There has been so much growth since 9/11 that getting your arms around that – not just for the DNI [Director of National Intelligence], but for any individual, for the director of the CIA, for the secretary of defense – is a challenge,” Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said in an interview with The Post last week.
via A hidden world, growing beyond control (Printer friendly version)| washingtonpost.com.
What gets me is this; these guys are just now bringing this story out. How come they did not do it sooner? You want to know why? It is because WaPo is suffering; their publication numbers are down, because they have been being the Democratic Party’s publication arm and now they are suffering. So, they figure they would take on big Government. Nice. But is not ironic that the same people that basically did the “Hosanna” song for President Barack Obama, a big Government Advocate; and now they are suddenly worried about the aspect of a “big, scary, secret Government?” The irony is not lost on this Blogger.

Finally: Tea Party Federation kicks Mark Williams and the Tea Party Express out of the movement
A HUGE Kudos to the Tea Party Federation for doing this:
The National Tea Party Federation, an organization that represents the Tea Party political movement around the country, has expelled conservative commentator Mark Williams and his Tea Party Express because of an inflammatory blog post he wrote, federation spokesman David Webb said Sunday.
Appearing on the CBS program “Face the Nation,” Webb said that Williams and the Tea Party Express — which has held a series of events across the country to generate support for the movement — no longer were part of the National Tea Party Federation.
via Tea Party Federation kicks out Williams over blog post – CNN.com.
The Press Release is here:
Effective Immediately, Tea Party Express Is No Longer a Member
of the National Tea Party Federation
Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2010 at 3:43pm
Last night, the members of the National Tea Party Federation participating in an “All Hands” conference call unanimously decided the following:
The membership of the National Tea Party Federation has this evening suspended and will immediately expel Tea Party Express from any further association with the Federation should they fail to publicly rebuke Mark Williams and remove him from their ranks by 3 pm eastern time Saturday July 17.
The rebuke must take the following form:
1. Mark Williams must be officially removed from the ranks of the Tea Party Express.
2. Notice of Mark Williams’ removal must be placed prominently on the official Tea Party Express website.
3. Tea Party Express must issue a press release articulating points 1 and 2 above.
* * *
Last night, a member of the National Tea Party Federation communicated our decision directly to a member of the leadership team of Tea Party Express. That leader’s response was clear: they have no intention of taking the action we required for their group to continue as a member of the National Tea Party Federation.
Therefore, effective immediately the National Tea Party Federation is expelling Tea Party Express from the ranks of our membership.
Of course, some bloggers, including one that I will never link to directly is bringing up the fact that the word “Racism” is not used in the press release. Which is pretty ironic, considering the fact that he is a known stalker and slanderer himself. Anyhow, this was a very good move on the part of the National Tea Party Federation; as racism, whether nuanced or outright, just should not be tolerated at all, by anyone or any side of the political debate.
A personal note to Mark Williams: Hey, idiot! You hate black people? Then take your idiotic ass over the Democratic Party where you belong sir. You are NOT one of us! I am sure the Klan or Stormfront.org will welcome you with open arms. Because you know what? You possess the same moronic mentality that those mental midgets possess. I think Mark Williams and Craig Bodeker ought to get together and compare notes; because God knows, they are two peas out of the same pot — that should be shunned and ignored. Along with the rest of the damn crackpots; like Pat Buchanan, Ron Paul and the rest of the Anti-Semites and racists that are still left over from the Paleo-Conservative era.
Quote of the Day
Itâs discouraging work trying to match the righteousness of the Freedom Riders. When the NAACP had a funeral for the N-Word, I was ready to pound the living crap out of anyone who dared resurrect it. Unfortunately, I live in Brooklyn and if I fought everyone who used that word Iâd be punching blacks and Hispanics in the face âtil I was blue in the face. Besides, all my favorite songs use that word like itâs going out of style. Listen to the beginning of âTight Pantsâ or âPlaystationâ for example. Am I allowed to sing those in public?

Also, she makes reference to “Her people”, yeah, the people who were brought to America as damned criminals. Criminals who were freed by a Republican named Abraham Lincoln — against the wishes of the people of the South. A freeing that also destroyed the economy of the South. Surprise: Voter Fraud involving felons in Al Franken election in MN
Considering this little accusation here; should this be any sort of a shock to anyone?:
The six-month election recount that turned former “Saturday Night Live” comedian Al Franken into a U.S. senator may have been decided by convicted felons who voted illegally in Minnesota’s Twin Cities.
That’s the finding of an 18-month study conducted by Minnesota Majority, a conservative watchdog group, which found that at least 341 convicted felons in largely Democratic Minneapolis-St. Paul voted illegally in the 2008 Senate race between Franken, a Democrat, and his Republican opponent, then-incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman.
The final recount vote in the race, determined six months after Election Day, showed Franken beat Coleman by 312 votes — fewer votes than the number of felons whose illegal ballots were counted, according to Minnesota Majority’s newly released study, which matched publicly available conviction lists with voting records.
Furthermore, the report charges that efforts to get state and federal authorities to act on its findings have been “stonewalled.”

The Left and Israel
I am writing this, because I think a point is being missed by some on the right.
This is in response to Van Helsing’s posting about left and Israel, and I give you a quote from that:
The harder you try to be good, the faster liberals will knife you in the back in favor of those who don’t try at all.
First off, let me straighten that whole thing out. The reason why the left rejects Israel’s right to exist; is because liberals in general; but not all of them, reject the Old Testament or as those who are Jewish would call it; the writing of the prophets. In essence, they reject the Biblical history of the Nation of Israel.
Van Helsing also posts a “feel sorry for Israel” video, which I will not embed here, because I just feel that it is one-sided. Israel is not without blame; I am sorry to be the one to say this, but I will, because I believe in speaking the truth. I do not accept Israel’s explanation of what happened to the U.S.S. Liberty. In fact, Neither did people in the United States Government:
Dean Rusk, U.S. Secretary of State at the time of the incident, wrote:
I was never satisfied with the Israeli explanation. Their sustained attack to disable and sink Liberty precluded an assault by accident or some trigger-happy local commander. Through diplomatic channels we refused to accept their explanations. I didn’t believe them then, and I don’t believe them to this day. The attack was outrageous.[51] Source
So, as you see, I am not alone in my opinion of this situation. Now, am I an Anti-Semite? No, I have nothing against the Jewish people. But I will not sit with blinders on, and say that Israel has done nothing wrong in their past; because they have. I personally believe that the Parties responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Liberty should have been arrested, brought back to America and charged with war crimes. But, because we were dealing with Israel; who quite honestly thinks of America is it’s own useful idiot, they were never charged in a American Military Court.
Further more, I felt whole entire flotilla incident was poorly handled by the Government of Israel; and after all of the controversy; Israel allowed the goods in anyhow. Which I felt was just downright stupid. But yet the Government of Israel wants us, as Conservative Americans to support them; when they will not even support themselves, by enforcing their own laws. That my friends is an exercise in stupidity.
Not to mention the fact that the United States of America basically is funding Israel’s state run healthcare system; which includes a “Public Option”, something we do not have here in the United States. My question to you, as a “Right of Center” Blogger is this — Why are the American people’s tax dollars being used to fund something in Israel, that we do not even have here in the United States? Until the rabid Zionists can answer that little question, along with the real truth behind the U.S.S. Liberty — without playing the Semite Card, which they are good for, then we have nothing to discuss.

Sarah Palin needs help with her legal bills
I received this via e-mail:
Dear Pat,
Time is running out.
Since the first frivolous ethics charges were filed against Sarah Palin two years ago, legal bills for the Palin family have mounted into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Last year, friends of the family set up the Alaska Fund Trust to help pay legal fees. They used the words “official legal fund” so that supporters would know it was the fund trusted by the Palins. But now — because Governor Palin used the word “official” — an independent counsel decided that Sarah Palin “violated” the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act when she served as governor of the state.Funds donated to the Alaska Fund Trust were immediately frozen until the legal challenge was sorted out.Governor Palin has now agreed to send the money back to the donors. This means that not a single dollar of the trust fund went to pay the Governor’s massive legal fees.On June 24, 2010 a new legal defense fund — The Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund — was created to pay these urgent legal bills. We set up the new fund to cover the Palin’s legal bills for past, present, and future attacks. The fund has been set up by friends and trusted advisors of Governor Palin.Let’s help Governor Palin with this incredible burden that no citizen should have to bear and free her to speak out on behalf of conservatives all across this great country. Will you help us relieve Governor Palin of this burden?
Pat, as a supporter of Governor Palin, help us with the legal fees stemming from those frivolous charges against Governor Palin.
Yours truly,Tim Crawford

Now, I will tell you this; I was never really a huge Palin fan. But I thought the gal got a raw deal with the liberal media and from idiots that put this Lady through the mill. I am asking those who actually read this blog to help Palin out. Further more, because of hateful bastards like these twits here, I am asking that you double your support for Palin.
The main reason why I even wanted to get involved with this; is this fact right here:
They called it the Alaska Fund Trust, the “official legal fund” for Governor Palin.
In fact, they added the words “official legal fund” so that supporters would know it was not just approved by the family, but that it complied with disclosure requirements, had professional management, created limits on who could donate and how much could be donated, and a variety of other restrictions that made it a very conservative and limited trust.
Further, the word “official” was used to distinguish the Alaska Fund Trust from other legal defense funds that were starting to pop up and no one knew if these would comply with disclosure laws, lobbyist restrictions, etc.
But now – because she used the word “official” – an independent counsel decided that the Trust “violated” the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act and now requires the Trust to send back every single donation raised by the defense fund while she was governor.
The left-wing media wants you to think Gov. Palin is an “ethics violator.” But they ignore the actual findings that Gov. Palin acted in good faith and relied on a team of expert trust lawyers to set it up.
They ignore that Gov. Palin stated one overriding principle: if the trust fund could be lawfully set up, she would support it. That is hardly the action of a person bent on skirting the law, contrary to the hysterical commentaries. But they ignore the truth and prefer to propagate lies about Sarah Palin.
They DON’T want you to know:
- The National Democratic Committee used its Alaska chapter, the Alaska Democratic Party (ADP), to create a website with one stated goal: “Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office.” To this day, the Democrats use this website to publicly seek donations for funding bogus “legal challenges involving issues related to Sarah Palin.”
- The ADP’s “Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office” campaign used our own legal system to sponsor more than two dozen ethics complaints against Governor Palin. Out of the 27 complaints, 26 were dismissed!
- The so-called “independent counsel” who started this investigation was an attorney from President Barack Obama’s law firm.
The money in the Alaska Fund Trust has been frozen and bills gone unpaid.
You see the part up there, that I put in bold, underlined and colored red? That, my friends, is the reason why I even bothered to post this here. This crusade against Sarah Palin is nothing more than a 21 century lynching against a Conservative Christian Woman. Admittedly, John McCain’s campaign did do some stuff wrong; at least I feel anyway… — but the bulk of blame goes towards the Democrats, who relentlessly hounded this woman to death and still continues to do so.
Which is just one, in a litany of reasons why I will never vote for anyone representing the Democratic Party, ever again.
Now, I ask you; as a Christian, as someone who believes that the Republican Party does, in fact, embrace the Tea Party values and does want to see a strong, secure America. * I ask you to help Sarah Palin pay down these legal bills, so that she can be free to enjoy the rest of her political and personal career, as she sees fit. Please, do not allow these liberal bastards to bring someone like Palin down or allow them to win the battle. Fight back, with the best weapon possible — your pocketbook. I know times are hard; In fact, I am going through tough times myself. But, all donations, no matter how big or how small will help her out.
Thanks for reading. đ
-Patrick

Erick Erickson is a hypocritical twit
Pot meet kettle….
Erick Erickson on Bob Inglis….:
Hogan mentioned Bob Bennettâs comments earlier. Bennett thought it beneath him and outside conservatism to think the constitution may limit him, a senator, from legislating.
Well, over in South Carolina, Daniel Foster points out another example, defeated Republican Bob Inglis.
Inglis, defeated in a Republican primary by tea party activists, has shared what he really thinks of conservatives â they are racist, bigotted, and easily led by villains like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck.
The soon to be former congressman loathes the term âdeath panelâ and thinks people who criticize Barack Obama are racists, just like those tea party activists who, on the day they were throwing Bob Inglis out of office, were putting in office an Indian lady and a black guy down in Charleston.
I guess they are blind racists. Somebody ask Bob Inglis to confirm.
Now just a few days ago, on Michael Steele:
I have heard Michael Steeleâs comments regarding Afghanistan and the President.
I have read the RNCâs statement on the matter.
The RNC statement is indecipherable in the context of what Michael Steele actually said.
The war in Afghanistan is not a war of Barack Obamaâs choosing. It is a war of Al Qaeda and the Talibanâs choosing. We responded.
Michael Steele must resign. He has lost all moral authority to lead the GOP.
That part I underlined, is the talking-point of the Wilsonian, Statist Republicans and Conservatives who believe in a perpetual war in Iraq and Afghanistan and any other damned where they think terrorists might be hiding. The truth is that nobody knows for sure, where Osama Bin Laden is even at anymore; further more, anyone who has tried to build a Nation in Afghanistan, has failed at it, but that means nothing to people like Liz Cheney and Erick Erickson. People like these two want war — forever or as along as it is profitable to big businesses like the one’s that Dick Cheney and the Bush Family owns.
So, yeah, I am calling out Erick Erickson for his blatant hypocritical crap here. How dare he call someone else a Statist? When he himself has made the same damned type of statements —- But just on a different subject.

Drudge gets it wrong
Once again, Matt Drudge is posting misleading headlines:
Spooky headline, right?
Wrong.
Actually, the headline is about a story, that is actually a good thing, securing our power plants and so forth.
The story is reported by the Wall Street Journal:
The federal government is launching an expansive program dubbed “Perfect Citizen” to detect cyber assaults on private companies and government agencies running such critical infrastructure as the electricity grid and nuclear-power plants, according to people familiar with the program.
The surveillance by the National Security Agency, the government’s chief eavesdropping agency, would rely on a set of sensors deployed in computer networks for critical infrastructure that would be triggered by unusual activity suggesting an impending cyber attack, though it wouldn’t persistently monitor the whole system, these people said.
Defense contractor Raytheon Corp. recently won a classified contract for the initial phase of the surveillance effort valued at up to $100 million, said a person familiar with the project.
An NSA spokeswoman said the agency had no information to provide on the program. A Raytheon spokesman declined to comment.
Some industry and government officials familiar with the program see Perfect Citizen as an intrusion by the NSA into domestic affairs, while others say it is an important program to combat an emerging security threat that only the NSA is equipped to provide.
“The overall purpose of the [program] is our Government…feel[s] that they need to insure the Public Sector is doing all they can to secure Infrastructure critical to our National Security,” said one internal Raytheon email, the text of which was seen by The Wall Street Journal. “Perfect Citizen is Big Brother.”
Raytheon declined to comment on this email.
A U.S. military official called the program long overdue and said any intrusion into privacy is no greater than what the public already endures from traffic cameras. It’s a logical extension of the work federal agencies have done in the past to protect physical attacks on critical infrastructure that could sabotage the government or key parts of the country, the official said.
U.S. intelligence officials have grown increasingly alarmed about what they believe to be Chinese and Russian surveillance of computer systems that control the electric grid and other U.S. infrastructure. Officials are unable to describe the full scope of the problem, however, because they have had limited ability to pull together all the private data.
Perfect Citizen will look at large, typically older computer control systems that were often designed without Internet connectivity or security in mind. Many of those systemsâwhich run everything from subway systems to air-traffic control networksâhave since been linked to the Internet, making them more efficient but also exposing them to cyber attack.
The goal is to close the “big, glaring holes” in the U.S.’s understanding of the nature of the cyber threat against its infrastructure, said one industry specialist familiar with the program. “We don’t have a dedicated way to understand the problem.”
The information gathered by Perfect Citizen could also have applications beyond the critical infrastructure sector, officials said, serving as a data bank that would also help companies and agencies who call upon NSA for help with investigations of cyber attacks, as Google did when it sustained a major attack late last year.
So much for that big scary headline eh? But when you are Matt Drudge. The facts mean nothing; as long as you have an agenda to fulfill. As a Conservative; I believe that securing our infrastructure is a good thing. The only people who have to fear from something of this nature, are the people who are using the internet to break the law. So, if you are law abiding citizen, you have absolutely nothing to fear at all.
Also, it should be noted, that the Government did something similar to this, under the Bush Administration. That until the liberal media ran with it, and the courts decided that Bush needed a warrant to spy on people. So, this little narrative is quite silly.
Now, can someone please tell me why the heck Matt Drudge’s site is so popular? It cannot be because of his factual reporting. đ
Blue versus Blue: MSNBC Bans Markos from it’s shows
Seems that Joe Scarborough at MSNBC got into a bit of a twitter war with Markos Moulitsas over at DailyKos. The exchange is as follows:
JoeNBC: The Sestak story is as unbelievable a cover story as Nixon throwing little Checkers under the bus. A farce on it’s face. Luckily for the White House, the media has been negligent on this story since Day 1. The press will let this laughable story slide.
That was too much horseshit for me. If there was someone who had ZERO ground to stand on whining about media bias, it was Scarborough. So I shot back:
markos: Like story of a certain dead intern. RT @JoeNBC: Luckily for the White House, the media has been negligent on this story since Day 1.
Markos: But if you want to talk about bullshit “scandals”, @JoeNBC, there’s this one about Joe Sestak and the White House you might’ve heard of.
It degenerated from there.
JoeNBC: @markos Unbelievable. You have a long history of spreading lies suggesting I am a murderer. This is the 3rd or 4th time by my count.Markos: @JoeNBC, I’ve never suggested you’re a murderer. I’ve noted media hypocrisy in going after Gary Condit. But he was Dem. You aren’t.
JoeNBC: Anyone in media who interviews @markos, know that you’re extending your credibility to someone who regularly suggests that I’m a murderer.
Markos: A bit touchy, @JoeNBC? Links for where I accuse you of being a murderer please.
Well, after all that; Markos gets a e-mail from the President of MSNBC:
Markos,
Blog if you must, but here is my on the record statement to you which I ask that you print in full:
Yes, after I became aware of the ugly cheap shot  you  took at Joe on Twitter, I asked the teams to take a break from booking you on our shows for a while. I found the comments to be in poor taste, and utterly uncalled for in a civil discourse.
I’m hoping this will be only temporary and that the situation can be resolved in a mature fashion, but until then I just don’t know how one could reasonably expect to be welcomed onto our network while publicly antagonizing one of our hosts at the same time.
The DailyKos community has been among the most supportive of MSNBC, and we continue to appreciate that support.
Markos goes on:
I’ve criticized Chris Matthews before, sometimes harshly, and it never led to me being banned. This was not about criticizing some random MSNBC host, but about criticizing the network’s token conservative, a man who wilts in the face of the awesome power of Twitter and its 140-character limit. Morning Joe happens to be Griffin’s pet project at MSNBC. He’s staked his career on it, and as such, lets Scarborough call the shots — to the point of having its least successful host dictate the guest list of its most successful one.
Greg Sargent over at the Plum Line makes an observation:
It’s funny. I don’t recall the chief of MSNBC publicly banning Liz Cheney from appearing on the network when she cut an entire Web video “publicly antagonizing” Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews for allegedly being too frightened to debate her about terrorism.
Video in question:
Markos also observes:
That’s pretty much it. Had I criticized Rachel or Keith or Ed, nothing would’ve happened. I’ve certainly criticized Chris Matthews in the past, and nothing happened. I’ve got confirmation from one producer of a prime time MSNBC show that there isn’t any network-wide prohibition on Liz Cheney appearing on the air.
This is about Joe Scarborough, and the media double standard that allows you to criticize liberals all you want, but conservatives are off limits. Just ask Dave Weigel.
Update: MSNBC tried to talk me out of going public with this, between Griffin and another exec. But here’s the thing — neither Keith Olbermann nor Ed Schultz reached out. That spoke volumes to me, since they have my number, and I’m sure Griffin would’ve loved for them to intervene. But they didn’t. What’s that tell me? That they’re fighting the good fight from the inside and have zero interest in doing Griffin’s dirty work for him. They won’t be able to comment on this for obvious reasons, but that doesn’t mean they’re not engaged.
However, Jack Moss AKA MacRanger the owner of Macsmind Blog; who is a Republican, Says the following:
Markos (Screw âem) Moulitsas ZĂșñiga is whining that heâs been banned from MSNBC. So I emailed someone at the network I went to school with to ask if this was true. The reply.
âItâs bogus. Heâs not âblackballedâ, heâs old news, non-contributory and completely irrelevant to our focus. Nuff saidâ
I will admit, I am not overly a big fan of Joe Scarborough. He just the token Conservative over at MSNBC. I never watch MSNBC anymore; especially since they went hard left. I mean, some of the people over at Fox News annoy the crap out of me. But I would rather hear critical reporting of the President and his activities, then watch a bunch of hired hacks spout the talking points of the White House.
As for Markos, I have nothing but contempt for him, for this:
Let the people see what war is like. This isn’t an Xbox game. There are real repercussions to Bush’s folly.
That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries. They aren’t in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.
‘Nuff Said. I mean, I was not a big fan of the Iraqi War. But…. Screw them? Sorry, no excuse. He’s an anti-American. Not to mention a dago prick… (that’s right, I called Markos a DAGO… because that’s what he is…. a prick)
Update: Fixed rather hilarious headline error…. banned Markos from his own blog?!?! WOW! Not enough coffee!
Update #2: You Know, now that McCain mentions it, this here is a rather funny Video clip from Morning Joe:
Between that and Joe dropping the F-Bomb on live air; that show does have some funnier moments.
Way too fast
I say this, at the risk of sounding like a crusty old curmudgeon:
The Bugatti Veyron is, once again, the fastest production car on the planet.
Bugatti says an orange-and-black Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved an average top speed of 267.8 mph at the hands of test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel. Stop and think about that for a moment. Thatâs more than 393 feet per second and almost 4.5 miles per minute. Even Bugattiâs engineers were surprised.
âWe took it that we would reach an average value of 425 km/h (264 mph),â chief engineer Wolfgang Schreiber said in a statement. âBut the conditions today were perfect and allowed even more.â
Raphanel made his record-setting run at Volkswagenâs test track in Ehra-Lessien, Germany, in the latest version of the greatest automobile ever made. He had one hour to make back-to-back runs in each direction. The speedo hit 427.933 km/h against the wind and 434.211 with it. That came to an average of 431.072, which by our math is 267.8 mph.
And that was more than enough to take the title back from Shelby Super Cars and the Ultimate Aero, which had held the record since peeling off an average of 256 mph in 2007. Raphanel set the record on June 24; Bugatti announced it on July 4. Bugatti says Guinness was on-hand to verify the record, and we imagine the guys at SSC will not take this sitting down.
As the name suggests, the Super Sport is a hot-rodded version of a car that already has too much of everything. The 16-cylinder engine has been tweaked and tuned with bigger turbochargers (four, count âem, four) and intercoolers. Bugatti says the engine is good for 1,200 horsepower and a staggering 1,106 pound feet of torque.
I’m sorry, but 267 miles per hour is just way, way, waaaaaay too fast. I mean, I am all for the idea of going fast; in fact, I love going to Milan Dragway here in Milan, Michigan. But for a street car, 267 miles per hour? Hell no. Too fast. Reason I say that is because if you happen to be in one these contraptions, and you happen to hit an inanimate object going that fast — forget calling the ambulance; call the farking morgue. Be sure to tell them to bring a big spatula, to scrape your greasy spot off of whatever you hit.
Do not misunderstand me; it is a nice car — To look at and say, “Yeah, I bet that thing goes really fast!” đ
The Justice Department let this guy off?
WOW. đŻ
See more about this over at Ed Driscoll’s Blog.
I am sure, however, that Alfonzo Rachel would approve, seeing he likes to insult white people in his videos, and then tries to pin the label of racist on the Democrats. Surprised? Me Either. đ
Living Proof that President Obama is more interested in his socialist agenda, than he is protecting our borders
This is insane….:
The Justice Department has decided to file suit against Arizona on the grounds that the state’s new immigration law illegally intrudes on federal prerogatives, law enforcement sources said Monday.
The lawsuit, which three sources said could be filed as early as Tuesday, will invoke for its main argument the legal doctrine of “preemption,” which is based on the Constitution’s supremacy clause and says that federal law trumps state statutes. Justice Department officials believe that enforcing immigration laws is a federal responsibility, the sources said.
A federal lawsuit will dramatically escalate the legal and political battle over the Arizona law, which gives police the power to question anyone if they have a “reasonable suspicion” that the person is an illegal immigrant. The measure has drawn words of condemnation from President Obama and Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and opposition from civil rights groups. It also has prompted at least five other lawsuits. Arizona officials have urged the Obama administration not to sue.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton first revealed last month that the Justice Department intended to sue Arizona, and department lawyers have been preparing their case, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the government has not announced its plans. The filing is expected to include declarations from other U.S. agencies saying that the Arizona law would place a undue burden on their ability to enforce immigration laws nationwide, because Arizona police are expected to refer so many illegal immigrants to federal authorities.
The preemption doctrine has been established in Supreme Court decisions, and some legal experts have said such a federal argument likely would persuade a judge to declare the law unconstitutional.
But lawyers who helped draft the Arizona legislation have expressed doubt that a preemption argument would prevail. The law, signed by Gov. Jan Brewer (R) in April, is scheduled to take effect later this month.
via Justice Dept. expected to sue Ariz. on immigration, citing ‘preemption’ grounds.
If this is what Obama calls “Hope and Change”, I fear for America.
