Why I did not go to the Tea-Party Protests

As most of you know by now, there are a great number of “Tea-Party” Protests around the Country.  Well, count this writer among those who will not be attending.  I will explain to as why.  The first reason why I will not be wasting my money, gas, and personal time is this; these tea parties are the Neo-Conservative and Media establishment cashing in on a sacred Libertarian Principle.  That principle is low or no taxes.

Now while I believe it is commendable that the Conservative movement is slowly moving away from the big Government nonsense of the Neo-Conservative stupor of the George W. Bush Administration.  I cannot help but think that possibly the Conservative establishment and the Conservative media establishment is simply cashing in on the supposed populist outrage of the Obama Administration’s devaluing the dollar by the massive bailouts.

Another reason is that I just have an overwhelming feeling of “Why Bother?”  I mean, the Democrats are in the majority, in fact, eventually they will be seating their last senator and will have a super majority.  The Obama Administration, it seems, is not interested in what we Conservatives or Libertarians think about what he is doing.  So, why waste one’s breath, time and gas assembling?  I mean, the Liberal Establishment already takes a morbid pleasure in painting people like you and me as a bunch of fringe element extremists, my question is, why give them more ammo?  It just does not make any sense to me.  Perhaps I am a tad bit cynical, but it seems to me that our time would be better spend rebuilding our movement from the ground up, rather than going out and demonstrating over something that we cannot honestly stop.

Again, I believe the idea of the American people speaking out against what they feel is wrong, is great.  I feel that our time could be better spent doing something more productive and substantive, than cashing in on base and animal-like instincts.  While some might think that, I am overly cynical and to an extent, I am.  However, I prefer to see myself as a realist.

  1. So, when people are in power that have policies that will run the country into the ground, and when you see them trying to stack the deck so that they win every time, the correct thing to do is to… bend over and let them shaft you because they don’t want to listen to you?

    Sorry, but I don’t agree.

Look, I’m as much of a realist as anyone. I know the Democrats are in power and I know they’re going to have their way with the country whether I like it or not. I don’t pretend that I’m saving the world or the country or anything by going to a Tea Party. All I’m doing is making sure the Democrats are aware that I don’t consent to this screwing over, put a few scratch marks on their face so that later on they can’t claim it was consensual.

Why bother having an opinion, if you’re just going to keep it to yourself? Blogs are nice and all, but sometimes talk is not enough.

  3. ‘Rebuild from the ground up?’ Why?

There is nothing broke about the Republican Party. It is working exactly as intended.

There is nothing working with the Libertarian Party. It is failing exactly as intended.

But if you want to give people an outlet to protest without violence, picketing seems as good a task as any. What does it accomplish? It irritates the crap out of the government. They hate not being adored by their serfs. People are angrier in this nation than I have ever seen them. And they are well armed and well stocked. I have never seen that. This is an opportunity — post-bailout, stimulus, pre-inflation — to let them know which direction to point their complaints when the time comes.

  4. Your silence will be taken for indifference, laziness, and cowardice. And honestly, what else is it.

    1. Well Chris, I would have went here, but for one, My car cannot be driven on the freeway, it’s got steering issues, the “A-Arm’ is shot. and I cannot drive it far. It’s dangerous.

and…. There were no protests near my house.

So, I just stayed home. 😀

  5. There is nothing cowardly about admitting that pieces of crap like Savage and Beck have stolen an idea for their own. I blew it off too.

  6. I attended a Central Pennsylvania tea party this afternoon for about 40 minutes. There were about 100 or so people in attendance, by my count. They had an open microphone and anyone could go up and say whatever they wanted. One elderly woman went on at length about how she had discovered and now loves Jesus, and how he is the solution to all of America’s problems. Others spoke about how encouraged they were by the turnout, and by the opportunity to speak out. Most of the speakers stated that we must bombard our elected officials with our demands incessantly, and then everything will change. Based on 40 minutes of that kind of talk, I decided to go home and relax for the evening — which was certainly just as productive as the Tea Bag party I attended. It appeared to me that the greatest benefit of today’s event was that our local law enforcement was there with police cruisers, foot officers, bicycle cops, and especially video cameras photographing all of the dissenters, so that they can be rounded up at a later time for their stay at a FEMA camp. IMHO, it was a pointless feel-good event without impact.

  7. You are not just cynical, you are lazy. And a whiner, and cowardly. First you say you didn’t go because “why bother”. Now its due to car problems? You are no better than most demonrats. Whine whine whine, then…..

    nothing.

    1. Well sir, when I can afford to buy a car. I’ll come to those protests.

I’d tell you what I think of your smart assed attitude, but you’re entitled to your opinions.

      Too bad your stupid. 😛

  8. Lots of Tea Parties – And Then? – by Devvy Kidd http://www.newswithviews.com/Devvy/kidd439.htm Excitement is building over the hundreds, if not thousands of “tea parties” planned for April 15, 2009. Don’t waste your time or money. This is to herd desperate Americans into nothing more than another feel good exercise that wastes valuable resources by keeping Americans busy doing something that will produce nothing. Do you know what the herding technique is? Do you know what ‘controlled opposition’ means? These tea parties are the manifestation of millions of Americans who finally got the big jolt last September when they screamed at Congress: No bail outs! Because this uproar by we the people is growing exponentially, something must be done to herd the people in the right direction to control opposition to the master plan of one world government and the final destruction of our constitutional republic.

    1. Don,

I sometimes read Devvy, She leans a little into the Conspiracy Theory for me. But I do enjoy reading her stuff. But she was quite the looker when she was younger. 😀

  9. OFF TOPIC RESPONSE: Paleo Pat – remember, as I’m sure you do, that conspiracies are only “theories” until mountains of evidence have been heaped upon them, and then they become FACT. During the process of their journey from theories to facts, they become Conspiracy Probabilities.

“To be paranoid means to believe in delusions of danger and persecution. If the danger is real, and the evidence credible, then it cannot be delusional. To ignore the evidence, and hope that it CANNOT be true, is more an evidence of mental illness.” – William Blasé
