  1. It would seem to be a problem in the Blogosphere. Charles purely lost it. Patterico and Jeff Goldstein mostly did, and Allahpundit is verging on it.

In all the cases but Charles’, I’m depressed about it. But then again, I never suspected that Charles was a “conservative’, or even a “neocon”. Charles was always just a reactionary Liberal who figured out that Moslems were trying to kill all of us. That’s how Liberals act when they are irate…..

The other three? I worry about them. Patterico and Jeff G? Everyone’s seen that one. And if you doubt me about Allahpundit, go use the word “revolution”, in any context, in a comment at Hot Air. You can be an originally registered commenter, which I am. It’ll still kick you to moderation.

When I griped, Allahpundit threatened to ban me, for commenting in a thread about the Filibuster that “Unless the Democrats plan to rig elections so baldly that they start a revolution, they may well be in the minority again…..”

    It’s getting bad out there.

Which is the reason I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why that the Conservative Blogosphere, Neo or not-so-Neo, went into meltdown mode, when Charles Johnson went back to the Liberal side of the fence. He never was “One of us…” he was just a 9/11 liberal and we all know that “Right of Center coalition” thing went sour after Iraq turned into a hamburger meat grinder operation. I will never get that, at all. It was obvious to me, by reading some of his older interviews, that he was cashing in on a trend, and when the trend got stale, he bolted.

Anyhow, just my thoughts on it.

  3. …and before anyone says, “What about you?!?!”

    I never was a “9/11 liberal”

I was someone who hopped the fence, after that side of the fence, started courting commie ideology. I am all for helping the poor and the disabled, and heck, even the middle class. But when you start talking Marxism; That is when I get off the Democratic Party bus.

  4. Charles was, is, and has always been a Leftist who got scared by the Islamics.

Some of the “9-11 Conservatives” had a real conversion. Most of them simply realized that they were defenseless against anything that happened to come their direction, and had a panic fit.

Some of us reacted a whole lot differently. I was on vacation that week, because my wife had an appointment for surgery on 9-11 at 1300. I got up at my usual time that Tuesday morning, and was on the net (Turk Rifles, actually) when someone announced that a plane had hit the WTC.

I turned the TV on, took it all in, put an AK behind my truck seat, strapped a 1911 into an ankle holster, and went on about my day. (In baggy pants that keep a 1911 from printing, I’ll note.)

But it didn’t change any of my fundamental beliefs. I just started being really annoyed with Fanatic Muslims.

To give Charles his due, I never really understood the need to invade Iraq either. But the time to make that call was long ago and far away, and he missed that boat. So his change of heart now is nothing but late-term opportunism, and has backfired big time.

I just hope that the other three I mentioned don’t go completely around the bend on everything.

  5. I cannot say that I disagree with any of that.

    But….

Remind me, if we ever meet, that I make DAMNED sure that you know, that I’m your buddy. 😉

    Good Lord Yes. 🙄

I think you’d have a better chance of having a productive Conversation with a brick wall or maybe even a hard-shell Calvinist that you would getting those two to settle their differences.

  7. Dude!

I am the most inoffensive person in the world to everyone who doesn’t pull a weapon on me.

I try to be the embodiment of Robert A. Henlien’s theory that “An armed society is a polite society.”

I endeavor to be polite, and well spoken. I seldom even swear, unless in a group that I know won’t take offense.

Anyone who thinks I’m a threat to them should reevaluate their position. I’m hard to offend.

But it could be noted. The only reason I took an AK instead of a serious rifle was because I didn’t want it visible if I got stopped. Any of my serious .30 rifles would have been exposed in my truck. I really wanted one of the L1A1’s, but there’s no way I could put it in my Ranger without it being visible.

Same reason that I wore baggy pants. I spent most of 9-11-01 in a hospital, where carry is prohibited, and I didn’t want to scare anyone. But I wasn’t going to be unarmed anywhere on a day like that.

You got to be able to do that stuff without getting the Sheep any more disturbed than they already are. The paranoia was rampant. But I had 3/4 tank of gas, a pack of cigarettes, variable tint glasses, and 300 rounds of ammo.

    As Jake would say….’Hit it!”

Not that I wasn’t seriously worried, but if I’m able to fight back, I’ll take my chances.

    😉

Unlike the Islamazoids, I aim at what I’m shooting at.
