Facepalm of the day….

and This:

The banning has caused so much controversy that U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) plans to launch an investigation into the discrimination claim.

“The allegations against the swim club as they are reported are extremely disturbing,” Specter said in a statement. “I am reaching out to the parties involved to ascertain the facts. Racial discrimination has no place in America today.”

Senator Specter has caught much grief for his switching of parties. But I will say publicly that this was quite the good move on his part. Racial discrimination is illegal, and if this company did discriminate on the basis of race, they should be ran out of business.

  1. I disagree. A private club can do whatever it wishes on its own property — no matter how distasteful. People should be free to join or reject a collective for their own reasons. That is liberty. That is freedom. And that includes the freedom to discriminate. The law, of course disagrees with me.

These black youngsters had a contract in which a sum of money was exchanged for use of the pool. That contract was breeched and appropriate court remedies for having a vacation ruined should be applied by the courts.

  2. True it is a private club and can accept membership from whomever it chooses.

However, in this case it made a binding contract by accepting the camp’s application and check.

It is in breach of contract.

Many state do have laws prohibiting discrimination in offers to the general public.

To my distress my local county has extended the class to gender confused individuals which means men can enter girls restrooms and shower rooms as long as they claim they are women.

    1. Quite True.

This is where I disagree with the “Libertarian” crowd. There are laws on the books about stuff like this, they should be followed AND enforced.
