Me, Sarah Palin, and Small Businesses….

This is going to be one of those long rambling posts. You have been warned. Big Grin

This is a slight mea culpa for me. Just letting everyone know, My Dad is at home and doing just fine. We are assuming, or at least I am, that my Dad’s pain that he was experiencing was not a heart attack. In fact, I don’t think anyone knows, for sure, what it was. But just as well, he is home, he is fine and I thank those who e-mailed me, letting me know that they were praying for my Father. I had zero clue that I had that many readers. Egad, if as many of you donated, as you did read, I could do this forever and never have to look for a job. Hee hee Yes, I will harp the damn point again, there’s a donate button on the right hand side of your screen, down about midways, please use liberally! Please? Praying

Anyhow, on with the Mea Culpa, I apologize to many of you that come here and get your daily doze of Libertarian with attitude. After I brought Dad home yesterday from the Hospital, I went out to a local coffee house here in the area and proceeded to get loaded on caffeine. I ordered the biggest “House Blend” that they sold. Caffeine is such a bastardly drug. It gets you all cranked up and wound up like a top and then drops you like a bowling ball. I woke up today, at noon. I felt like I had been doing shots of whiskey the night before! I felt horrible! Needless to say, I managed to pull my rather miserable self together to get some sort of posting out.

So, anyhow, I even talked to the owner of “The Grind”, the Economy is killing her business, she’s now having to charge for refills. She’s also had to up the price for coffee. We discussed Obama and McCain. She agreed with me. Obama’s plan will put the hurt on small businesses like hers. I offered to help her get her Business on a domain address and possibly even get her gourmet coffees online, so people could order them and have them shipped to various parts of the country.  I also thank her profusely for getting Wifi. I cannot believe how many places have wifi internet. It boggles this old school, 36 year old man’s mind. HypnotizedBatting Eyelashes

Anyhow, on the Sarah Palin front, I’ve already blogged about how the Main Stream corporate and Liberal controlled media is making a rather big deal over Sarah Palin’s clothing bill.  Well, it seems that am not the only person that thinks the story is a bit overblown:

Ed Morrissey over at HotAir.com agrees with me: (Mark your calendars, this is quite rare!)

Does this violate FEC regulations?  Only if Palin intended on keeping the clothes — which she doesn’t.  The RNC made clear that the outfits will go to charitable donations, and one might imagine that they could generate some hefty bids if placed for auction after the election.  She won’t keep any of it, unless she buys it back from the RNC.

[….]

Dressing nicely or shopping at Saks or Neiman-Marcus does not disqualify someone from the middle class.  Professionals do not shop for their work wardrobes at Target or Wal-Mart, not even those from the middle class.  Having sold clothing for a time myself, I understand the need to look one’s best when making a new impression, and a Sears pantsuit won’t work on the national-election level.  With the Tanning Bed Media lying in wait for Palin, she needed to make the best impression possible.

Was this a good use of funds for the RNC?  They have had more than a $100 million on hand between the campaign and the RNC in September.  They spent around 0.15% of that on Palin’s wardrobe.  It’s less than they’d pay for a single network-TV spot, and they’ll get more use out of it.

Even Jazzshaw from the Moderate Voice, who’s not a Sarah Palin supporter, by a long shot, thinks this is all a bit strange too:

People spend what they can afford to spend on clothing. Personally, I tend to wait for a good sale from Joseph A. Bank when you can get a very nice men’s suit for two hundred dollars. But that’s because I’m not exactly made of money. Were I some sort of high-powered CEO with a seven figure income, I’m sure that my suits would cost five grand and I’d have some Armani in the closet.

I have no idea what Sarah Palin spent on clothes when she was the Mayor of Wasilla, but now she is in the public spotlight and running for Vice President. She also strikes me as an attractive woman who cares about her appearance and probably likes to dress and look her best. The campaign obviously wants her to look her best for the media and is spending accordingly. They can afford to do it, so why wouldn’t they?

There are twelve days of campaigning left before we go to the polls. Surely there are better things for us to spend our time on.

I tend myself to believe that the Main Stream Media is in full bore smear mode at this point. I mean, how much more in the tank can you be? It just seems that they are, in fact, ignoring the stupidity that has emanated from the “Barry” campaign and has instead hyper-focused on the McCain Campaign.

Further more, contrary to what that Marxist Liberal apologist Keith Olbermann thinks, the media does sway the polls. It is no secret that the McCain campaign was in the lead. This lead was totally destroyed after the Marxist-owned and controlled Main Stream Media began to drudge up tidbits, gossip and some outright slander against McCain. Some of it was somewhat deserved, some of it was concerted effort by the media to bring John McCain down in the polls. Not to mention the actions of the notorious Liberal 527 groups who have smeared McCain since he was named the Republican Candidate.

To conclude this rather long piece, let me simply say this. America is headed for a big change. Some possibly for the good, but many of it for the bad, freedom of speech will be suppressed, Conservatives will be brought up on hate speech charges. Churches will be closed, who do not preach approved messages. Our worst nightmare is coming, and there’s not much, at this point that Conservatives can do, except wait. Violence is NOT, I repeat, NOT the answer. You do not hear that much from Conservative Bloggers.  The answer is to stay active, write much, keep the Conservative movement alive. We must work, and wait, wait for America to wake up and realize that they’ve been tricked into believing in a slick talking Chicago politician.

This is, and will be the function of this Blog. To bring an libertarian conservative view to the political scene.  To express my opinion of what is happening in Washington D.C. Until the Day Star Arises.

  1. Why do they have to spend so much money on clothes? Just buy them at a regular store. I don’t think anyone can tell the difference.
I thought designers gave candidates their clothes for free publicity.
I thought that the Republican’s don’t have enough money for campaigning.
$150,000 could have bought a lot of TV ads or helped pay for bigger staff.
If they want to win, they shouldn’t do this kind of thing
It isn’t right to ask people to donate $50 and then spend $150,000 on fancy clothers and hairstyles.
