Memo to all Bloggers: Watch yourselves, Please?

I would advise all Bloggers, who are writing about the Palin E-mail Scandal, to be very careful about posting pictures of the said, But still uncharged supposed suspect.

Because if in the outside chance that this guy did not have anything to do with the hacking of Palin’s account. You all could be setting yourselves up for a libel lawsuit. I mean, slander is a legit lawsuit charge and this kids daddy is in the House of Representatives. If you think this guy is dirt poor, think again. I’m sure he has deep pockets and if his kid gets smeared unfairly, he might be out for blood, or well, Money. After all, we are dealing with Liberal Democrats here. Does anyone remember what John Edwards did for a living?

This is why I have been avoiding the subject, other than to comment on it in passing. This is why I have not been posting the dudes picture, at all. I just do not need the legal troubles here. You might think that I am full of it. But think about it for a second. I mean, google search is not that hard to do, to find out who’s talking about your kid, and all this guys parents would have to do is, perform a image search on google and see where their kids image pops up and then do a whois on the domain and then get court orders to force said blog hosting companies to release Whois records. You might think I’m full of it. But you got to realize, money gets you everywhere in the legal system nowadays. Just ask Detroit’s Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

Not trying to scare anyone or anything, but sometimes a little common sense goes a long way. The worst thing anyone can do in blogging is believe that they are untouchable. That is simply not the case. Slander lawsuits happen, and it is best to err on the side of caution. Especially when the facts are not fully known yet. I know the guy is over 21, but still, if daddy warbucks has deep pockets and really loves his kid and wants to protect the kid’s and his reputation, some of you might be looking at lawsuits.

So, in closing, my point is, it is better to be safe, than sorry, or in this case, sued.

  1. Not to mention, the little creep is probably loving all the attention. Why give it to him. He undoubtedly thinks he’s some kind of legend among his loser slacker hacker buddies.

  2. Only reason I Blogged about it, was because it was a news story. That is what I do. News and Politics, with a big ol’ Dash of opinion.

    😀

    Thanks for the comment.
