On Rush Limbaugh’s Comments about Haiti

My Statement on the insensitive and untimely comments by Rush Limbaugh about the situation in Haiti.

As I stated previously on this Blog; I feel that the statements made by Rush Limbaugh, while possibly factually correct, are quite insensitive. Having said that, let me explain myself on Rush’s factual statement:

Even the most bleeding heart of liberals and even the most charitable of Christians, when they are being honest, will tell you that there is a problem with corruption in Haiti. The reason why the Catholic Church is so successful in that Country, is because they actually pay off the corrupt leaders; so, that the Catholic charities can make a difference in that Country. There is no argument, that there needs to be reform in that Country. Bill O’Reilly even said that last night on his show and I happen to wholeheartedly agree. As long as the overlords are stealing the money and yes, even the food. Americans should be really careful where they send their money.

However, I believe Rush Limbaugh’s comments were a bit poorly timed. Rush could have waited till the final death toll was known and even possibly waited till the rescue operation was completely done. But, as they say, politics is a sewer. The main thing to remember about Rush Limbaugh is this, He is an entertainer. He speaks to his audience of upper-middle class, White, Wealthy Conservatives. (NTTAWWT!) Rush also does something, that many of us on the right do as well; we give people like Media Matters and Think Progress something to do. If it were not for us, those pathetic bastards would be unemployed.  Look at it this way, Rush Limbaugh is simply contributing to the economy, to give people like Think Progress and Media Matters a justification to collect a paycheck every week.

Bottom Line: While Rush Limbaugh’s timing was horrible, he was factually correct. Haiti is a Country that suffers from Lawlessness and corruption, and should be cleaned up.

  1. I don’t care what you have to say. I want to hear it from Rush Limbaugh his statement about how generally wrong he was in making the comments at such a horrific time in Haiti. Stop speeking for him he needs to make a public apology. I have friends in Haiti and those comments are not needed and inappropriate. He needs to stay off the air!!!

    1. Wayne,

I was not trying to excuse him or speak for him. I was simply pointing out the facts.

and, No, Rush does not need to get off the air. No more than the Liberal Gas Bags like Randy Rhoads and Mike Malloy.

  2. Well, the tampon in the ear comment was a little too far… but I agree with his central premise.

  3. Rush is an entertainer as well as a self proclaimed authority on conservative views. He is NOT a politician. He is correct that we all ready are helping Haiti with government support(ie tax dollars) He also is correct that ,what have the feds done right as far as properly spending money? Send your donations to the Red Cross or the likes. Big government will squander the dollar till just pennys get to Haiti.

  4. Rush needs to be run out on a rail by his own audience. As they say “garbage in, garbage out.” Anyone who accepts, justifies or does anything other than rail against that hateful banter deserves everything they get, including an inept government. Fair minded, educated conservatives find this type of behavior sickening and offensive – even more sickening than Sarah Palin’s ignorant 3rd grade level interviews with Glenn Beck.

This is why Obama will win a second term, no matter how much he screws up.

  5. His comments do not shock me one bit. Typical “compassionate conservative.” The man is irrelevant, out-of-date, out-of-touch and out-of-line. As if the manipulations of the Bush presidency and election fraud, bloodless coup using the conservative Supreme Court, lying to invade Iraq, dismantaling of the Bill of Rights, etc. etc. were not greatly more corrupt than anything the Hati warlords could ever pull off!

This is right in line with Cheney conveniently forgetting the incidents (remember the shoe bomber? and others?) which happened on Bush’s watch when claiming that Obama was not doing his job protecting America from terrorists after the Detroit incident. The entire “conservative” position is built on corruption, false statements, outright lies and fraud.

  6. Yes, my opinion, and since I have faith in the heart and soul of good Americans, I trust many share this opinion. Time will tell.

  7. Yes, time will tell. And the with all the boneheaded, tone deaf moves the Dems have made, they will be history in November and B.O. will be a lame duck for the second half of his one term presidency.

  8. I don’t know why the world is so shocked by Mr. Limbaugh’s comments. I think its people like him, Sarah Palin and let’s not forget Reverend Pat Robinson that are part of the racist fabric of America, They are the leaders that help mobilize the hard right. but i don’t want to speak about their outrageous comments. what i’d like to talk about is the new foundation that President Clinton and president Bush have set up to help survivors in Haiti. I hold Bill Clinton in the highest regard but i can’t say the same for George Bush. I watched them on CNN and G:B: said he would make sure that the American people’s money is well spent and accounted for. really???? that’s like leaving the wolf to guard the chicken coop. Politics & Religion and such a joke in the states.
