  1. GM takes our $$$ and then sticks it to the U.S. public by closing up and moving. To where are they moving? South America?

  2. I will NEVER buy “American” cars again. I would rather give my money to a foreign maker who has not screwed the US rather than these “domestic” companies who have exploited and screwed America for executive gain.

  3. The truth here is simply this, for years the US government has regulated these manufacturers out of business, rendered them unable to compete with foreign cars dumped on our markets, supported outrageous union featherbedding, union pension fund misuse, and literally now bankrupted one of them. The American standard of living has been elevated over the years by these companies by employment at fair wages for millions of Americans.

  4. sometimes we have to take a hit for the rest of our fellow workers. think about it the unions started this bullshit by demanding higher wages thus driving up the costs of doing business, this now compounded with mismanagement landed us where we are today.i do agree with the comment to stop bailing out these big shots who keep praying on those who are less fortunate and put the money were it can be better used by honest people. lastly those bastards that created this problem should be held responsible, this is criminal activity, so to sum up rot in hell to the big three!!!!!!!!.

  5. True, it’s all very sad. But I don’t feel sorry for people who don’t care enough to know about who they are working for in the first place. The whole system was doomed to failure from the get-go. It’s the workers’ fault too for basing their entire lives on companies who never gave a rat’s arse about them, only profit. That’s like being upset about banks confiscating assets for late payments; you never truly owned those possessions, they did.
To major corporations, ethics and responsibility take a back seat to wealth for the few at the top pulling the strings. Americans need to take initiative and do what is necessary, not rely on individuals who’s nature is to look out for themselves first and foremost. All the Detroit residents who have been laid off should start their own car company, utilizing the alternative technologies that the public has wanted for years and the car companies have completely ignored.

  6. Why did US auto industry fall? Simple, they built products that very few wanted to buy. Solution to this problem is to build a product everyone wants to buy. Detroit auto industry needs to build a car that utilizes the brown gas (HHO) engine, an engine that runs on 100% water. This invention has been around since the 1980’s. It is not a new invention, just one that has been suppressed by the carbon venders. The carbon venders stake is to protect their $12 trillion yearly world wide investment in selling carbon fuels, and it only took a little mud, intimidation, murder, and the purchase of a few congressmen to maintain it.

  7. Without unions there would no child labor protection, no minimum wage, no forty hour week, no safety standards. People were beaten and died for these rights. The unions sought to provide a decent living for hard working, productive ordinary Americans.

The companies thumbed their noses at the future. They lived for quarterly profits. They failed their end of the bargain. The companies let down the public and the workers. But don’t worry the fat cats will still be able to send their kids to colleges that will train them to be the next generation of the ruling class.

    1. Damn right Jerry. Thank you for saying it. Glad to see someone around that reads this blog has some kind of a brain.
