Anybody who threatens Amy Myers is NOT a true Conservative

There are not many times, that I feel the need to fire up my copy of Microsoft Word to write blog opinion pieces.  However, considering what I just read; I feel that writing anything other, than a professional sounding blog entry for this young woman; would be doing a disservice to her and her family.

As of late, there has been a gnawing cynism, which has been festering inside of me.  It is the thought that politics has become too partisan, too toxic, and almost too unbearable to write about any longer.  After all, it has been said by many people, that politics is like an open smelly sewer.  It is when I read things like this, that I begin to have those feelings of defeatist cynism very strongly.  This story has to be, one of the worst, if not the worst political story that I have read in a very long time:

Cherry Hill High School East sophomore Amy Myers

A Cherry Hill High School East sophomore who challenged Tea Party champion Michele Bachmann to a constitutional debate says she is concerned for her personal safety.

“A lot of them are calling me a whore,” 16-year-old Amy Myers said, referring to anonymous comments reacting to online news reports about her challenge to the 55-year-old Minnesota congresswoman.

In a letter addressed to Bachmann and dated April 29, Myers leveled pointed criticisms at the Tea Party Caucus founder.

“I have found quite a few of your statements regarding the Constitution of the United States, the quality of public school education and general U.S. civics matters to be factually incorrect, inaccurately applied or grossly distorted,” Myers wrote.

“As one of a handful of women in Congress, you hold a distinct privilege and responsibility to better represent your gender nationally. The statements you make help to serve an injustice to not only the position of Congresswoman, but women everywhere.”

Myers and her father, Wayne, posted her letter to Bachmann on CNN’s iReport website on May 6. News outlets including Yahoo and The Atlantic picked up the story over the weekend.

Amy and Wayne Myers said the comments on conservative websites alarmed them most. Several commenters threatened to publish the Myers’ home address.

Others threatened violence, including rape, they said.

I cannot express in any words in the English language, at least none that I care to publish on this blog, how angry that this story makes me.  I believe that anyone who threatens to hurt, compromise the privacy of, or otherwise frighten a 16-year-old girl; ought to be shot in the head and left to die.  My friends, there is no excuse at all.

I will fully admit to, at one time, revealing what I thought was the addresses of a few people that made the mistake of making me very angry in this past.  However, these people were fully-grown adults who were more than able to defend themselves, if the need did arise.  They were not children and this, is a child.  Not to mention the fact, that is a girl.  These people who have done this and are now doing it; they are not rational human beings, they are sub-human life forms, who do not deserve the lifeblood that is flowing through their veins.

My friends, this is not politics; this is madness.  This is not Conservatism, as defined in the traditional sense; this is nothing more than soft fascism.  Not to be confused with hard fascism, where they toss you in jail and leave you to die.  This is fascism of the McCarthy sort.  This is what the left is doing to one of their own, Ted Rall and now it is what the right is doing to this little girl.

My friends, America was born on a diversity of ideas.  Some of those ideas, I happen to agree with and some of them, I very highly disagree with.  Do you see me, going around trying to intimidate those who disagree with my ideas?  The smart answer to that question would be a firm No.  The answer to free speech that we happen to disagree with is in fact, more free speech —- Not intimidation!  — Especially, not the intimidation of a 16-year-old girl, who simply was expressing her opinion about something that she, happened to disagree with.

In closing, let me say this; I am sure that there will be many people drawn to this article.  Possibly even the ones who said and did the things mentioned in the news piece above.  Let me issue you a challenge; pick on someone your own size — someone like me.  In fact, let me make it very easy for you, here is my home address:

Mr. Charles Patrick Adkins

1821 Leblanc Street

Lincoln Park, Michigan 48146-3915

Put that address into your GPS unit or whatever you use to navigate yourself and find yourself on my doorstep.  However, let me give you one fair warning.  I am and always have been a strong advocate of the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.  I will readily admit that there are firearms in this house; none that require registering, of course.  If you or any of your little internet friends want to, “Dance” as they call it in street fighting terms, feel free.  However, you, as they say in the street, “Had better bring your lunch.”

  1. She is a brave young woman… and if she needs any help all she has to do is write to me at that email and she has it…I can send myself and a large contingent of bodyguards if that is what she needs…

Ya know she is right on so much…. but i hope she reads this and understands that there are a few of old conservatives that do agree with what she says…

  2. This young lady gives me hope for America. I wish there were more young people this involved with what is going on in our country. I sincerely hope that Bachmann takes her up on her debate and gives notice that the behavior of these thugs is not appropriate.

    1. I agree 100%. I might not agree with what she says; but I will defend her right to say it, any day of the week. That is what makes America the great nation that it is. A diversity of ideas. That is why I blog here.

  3. Honestly, where do you get off threatening a 16 year old female. Oh that’s right, a 16 year old male would put it right back in your lap. Feel free to send her my email address – I will gladly lend Cowboy56 a hand, actually both hands. Oh well, this is the internet and supposedly internet bullying is the new fad. Take heart Miss Myers, hopefully Ms. Bachmann will take you up on your offer, so you can spank her publicly.

My hat is off to you young lady. And tell your dad that we are proud of you too.
