Andrew Sullivan Praises Obama; gets attacked by Wilsonian Republicans as an Anti-Semite

I will be the first to admit, there are times when Andrew Sullivan gets under my skin. But this is not one of this times. Sullivan has gotten attacked by Wilsonian Republicans, because someone dared to point out their pro-war mentality. The reason they are attacking him, is because he invoked a word, which is commonly used to describe that faction of the Republican Party. That word is “Neo-Cons”, Which is generally what they are. Former pro-war Democrats or intellectual classical liberals who left the Democratic Party, because of their opposing of the civil rights act and other such related events.

Anyhow, here’s what Sullivan said, I’ll bold and underline the parts that sent the “Neo-Cons”, if you will; into a tizzy:

Did you notice how many times he invoked the word “justice” in his message? That’s the word that will resonate most deeply with the Iranian resistance. What a relief to have someone with this degree of restraint and prudence and empathy – refusing to be baited by Khamenei or the neocons, and yet taking an eloquent stand, as we all do, in defense of freedom and non-violence. The invocation of MLK was appropriate too. What on earth has this been but, in its essence, a protest for voting rights? Above all, the refusal to coopt their struggle for ours, because freedom is only ever won, and every democracy wil be different: this is an act of restraint that is also a statement of pure confidence in the power of a free people.

Well, I guess now, the word “Neo-Con” is now code word for “Jew Hater”. Which is so absolutely funny.  Because these bloggers are the same bloggers, who decry the race-baiting of the far left; only to do it themselves, when it comes to Jewish people. Since when does using a term, such as Neo-Con or Neo-Conservative constitute a racial slur? Sorry folks, but that is nothing more than race baiting in it’s purest form. You should all be ashamed. So, next you hear Wilsonian Republicans, like Michelle Malkin and those of her ilk, decrying the race baiting of the left, just remember; they do the same thing, when it comes to the Jewish people.

Neo-Con a racist term…. Please, as if! 🙄

Update: Please note: I originally ended this article with a rather crass term used amongst African-Americans; and I see that “The Daily Paul” linked in; and for that I am grateful. Anyhow, I changed the ending. I understand that not everyone out there gets my type of “I grew up in inner city Detroit” sort of humor. So, to those who were offended; I apologize. Again, thanks to the folks that linked in from the Daily Paul.

Round up of the race-baiting right: Don Surber, This ain’t Hell …, Riehl World View, Moe_Lane’s blog, Althouse and American Power

  1. The Neocons are so discredited that whenever they open their mouths whatever comes out is immediately suspect. I wouldn’t trust them as far As I could throw them. The contemptible lies and egregious actions they as a group have taken over the last eight years has forever destroyed whatever small reputation they might once have had. They are in contemporary language, “bad news”.

  2. This is a pretty common tactic among neocons and their defenders these days: claim neoconservative is just a code word for “Jewish” or that neocon is just a word liberals made up in order to single out Jewish conservatives. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard Rush Limbaugh repeat the lie of the second tactic. Neoconservative as a word has been around for awhile, so it’s a little funny how only recently it’s become a code word for Jewish conservatives.

What these people can’t stand is light being shone on the bankruptcy of their worldview. And they can’t refute the charge, so the only thing they can do is attack and smear their critics.

  3. Although I am thankful that Obama has admitted to US participation in Operation Ajax I am highly suspect of what I see going on over there at this point in time. Our CIA helped overthrow the democratically elected government in 1953 only to install a brutal dictator back into power. One of the methods that were used was to pay protestors/demonstrators to go out and stir up others against Prime Minister Mossadeq. As recently as 2007 Bush openly spoke of covert ops to once again overthrow the government of Iran.

So now the guy that America wanted to win didn’t, we see a lot of protesting against the current leader……..these seems pretty familiar to me. I’m not saying that there isn’t a lot of anti-mullah sentiment in Iran, however, it will be VERY difficult to gauge because of our meddling in the internal affairs of that country for multiple decades. THAT is EXACTLY why we should expect our President and elected representatives to ALWAYS adhere to a foreign policy of NON-INTERVENTION. Although I am glad for the outreach that has been made to Iran under the Obama administration I can understand their reluctance to accept our friendship after so many years of sanctions (which are an act of war and are still currently being wielded as a means of getting what we want) and other things done that have severely impacted their economy in a negative way.

Being an advocate of a non-interventionist foreign policy I’m of the strong America should mind its own business, bring our troops home from around the world and have open, honest trade and friendship will all those who will have it, and heavily armed neutrality with those who won’t.

  4. Sneaky way for the NEOCONS to be white and still get on the minority bandwagon. What a bunch of bs.

  5. You clowns crack me up. Where did I “race-bait”? I hope you don’t get any shoulder injuries patting each other on the back.
